You would kill him if you knew where he was right now. And yet, here he is. Trying to reassure and comfort your mother while sipping coffee from her finest set of teacups. The same teacups, he’s now realizing, that you used to serve him water in as children, calling it tea while the two of you played house, discussing the workplace as if you had any idea what went on there, while the adults around you struggled through the lack of those very places during the thirties. It could just be a coincidence, but after spending most of his life around her, Joe Toye would like to think that he knows your mother better than that.

“And you know how hardheaded she is,” your mother is ranting, cutting a fresh slice of poundcake and placing it on Joe’s plate. “She isn’t going to listen to me. Or anyone for that matter, now that her mind is made up.”

Oh, Joe knows exactly how hardheaded you are. In no small part thanks to the times that he accidentally clobbered that very head during neighborhood football games.

“(Y/N) feels good about this, Mrs. (Y/L/N),” Joe says, unsure of what he’s supposed to say during your mother’s hour of need. She’s right, after all – your mind has been made up, and it will not be changed.

“But do you?” Your mother fixes him with a hard gaze, raised brow and all.

You were with Joe when he went to enlist. He had watched your eyes sparkle when they fell onto the sign stating that women should inquire within about an exciting new opportunity that would allow them to serve their country like never before. And he had been by your side when you both left the building, both holding papers and smiling at the thought that you would be becoming paratroopers – together.

“Yes. (Y/N) is strong. She’ll be good in – “

“Joesph,” your mother interrupts. The façade finally falls as she collapses into the chair across the table from him, head in her hands. “She’s my baby! What if something – oh, God forbid! – happens to her? I couldn’t live with myself.”

Joe is by her side in an instant. When he announced that he was joining the Airborne, everyone had clapped him on the back and congratulated him. You have not had the same experience. While everyone keeps assuring Joe that he’ll do great things, the same people have been cautioning you to be careful. Some have even warned you that you should just give up now. And it’s all only served to strengthen your determination, with every underestimation making you more sure that this is what needs to be done.

All that is to say, Joe has no clue what to say to your mother. She needs to be comforted. But he’s out of his depth.

“I’ll watch out for her,” he finally manages.

Beneath the comforting hand that Joe has placed on her shoulder, your mother freezes. Watery eyes gaze up at him. “You – you will?”

“Of course.” The two of you have grown up together. You’ve always been friends. Why would he stop looking out for you now?

Your mother throws her arms around his neck, wrapping him up in a tight hug. “Oh, thank you!”

Joe is struggling to come up with something more to say when the sound of the front door opening and shutting saves him. Your footsteps echo through the front of the house as you call out in greeting.

“Ma! I’m home!” Stepping into the kitchen, you cross your arms, leaning onto the doorframe as you let out a loud sigh. “Wow, you would almost think that Joe is the child that you’re sending off to war instead of me.” You smile, and anyone could see how much you love your mother.

She wipes her teary eyes and pats Joe’s arm as he stands, returning to his seat. “I’m going to miss having someone around who doesn’t get into trouble all the time,” she teases as she cuts a slice of poundcake for you.

Something about the change of topic tells Joe that she would rather not have you find out about their conversation. His watching over you can be their little secret. And a job that he’ll readily accept.

After all, he tells himself as he watches you laugh at something your mother says. You would do the same for him.

The adrenaline from taking Brécourt Manor still hasn’t worn off yet. Joe is laughing at something that Guarnere said as they head back down the road. Something about this moment makes him feel invincible. This is why he chose to become a paratrooper, he realizes.

More men and women have congregated in the town since he’s been gone. Finally glancing at his watch reveals that he’s been gone most of the day. Wow, really? It didn’t feel like the assault took that long at all. At least it kept him busy, instead of sitting around here, waiting.

Joe scans the crowd, hoping to catch sight of you. When he doesn’t immediately spot you, he stops one of the other female paratroopers as she passes.

“Hey, Lilian. You seen (Y/N) around?”

Lilian pauses, her pretty green eyes widening slightly. “Oh. No.” She bites her lip, holding back something more.

“What is it?” Joe presses.

Her hesitation is not a good sign. Then she blurts out, “No one has seen her since the jump.”

“You mean – “

“She was supposed to be in my drop zone – but she wasn’t.”

The reality of it all sets in. (Y/N) didn’t reach the drop zone. Did she even make it out of the plane? God, he promised your mother that he would look out for you. Yet, here he is, with no clue where you might be.

He may have only just reached Europe, but he’s already failed his mission.

The dust is settling over Carentan when the incongruous cheer and subsequent peel of laughter hits Joe’s ears. Somewhere off in the distance, someone is celebrating. Meanwhile, he’s guarding Doc Roe as the medic moves along the streets, inspecting the bodies strewn over them to see if there’s anybody still alive that he can help.

“Thanks for doing this,” Roe says as he stands once more, moving on to another body.

“Hmm?” Joe snaps his attention back to the moment at hand. “Oh, no problem.”

Except there is a problem. He’s trying to catch a glimpse of every face as Doc Roe checks the bodies. He tries to make out names on dog tags, dreading that one of them might belong to you. He couldn’t stand it if he found you here, like this. What would he tell your mother? How would he ever erase that awful image from his mind? Of the little girl that he once played house with, lying motionless on these cold streets? It’s no better to imagine you going down in a plane doing a fiery corkscrew as it nosedives to the unforgiving soil of a foreign land. But at least he didn’t have to see that.

The terrible job done, he follows Roe back to the rest of the company. Despite everything that just happened, a few smiles can be expected, along with congratulatory words. But this is more than that.

A small group of men mill about, talking, smiling, as they watch a smaller group of the female paratroopers huddled together in a group, all talking loudly and looking excited. From the corner of his eye, he can see Doc Roe glance at him, but before the medic can ask what’s going on, the crowd parts and Joe freezes.

There, in the middle of it all, is you.

“(Y/N)?” It comes out louder than he means for it to, and his feet are already carrying him, double time, in your direction before he realizes what he’s doing.

You look up, your eyes widening. “Joe!” You launch yourself at him, throwing your arms around his neck and pulling him in close.

Something rushes through Joe’s chest like a flash of lightning, too many feelings at once. There’s shock, relief, and something that he can’t quite name. Not caring about getting written up for fraternizing, Joe hugs you back, holding you close, lest you slip away from him again.

“Jesus Christ. I thought I lost you,” he says into your hair.

“I’m fine, as usual. Can’t believe you would doubt me like that.” Your voice is light, teasing, but your grip on him tightens. The usual confident swagger doesn’t leave your voice, but you admit in a quieter voice, “I, uh – I missed my drop zone. Had a hell of a time trying to find the rest of the company. But here I am!”

When the embrace ends, Joe still isn’t ready to let go. He leaves his hands on your shoulders, studying you. And you, for your part, hold onto his webbing. “I was just worried about you, is all.”

You nod. “I was worried about you, too. I – “

“Easy Company!” A booming voice interrupts. “We’re moving out!”

Quickly, while everyone is distracted, you raise yourself up on your tiptoes and press a kiss to his cheek. Heat rushes to Joe’s cheeks. He feels his eyes widen. You just smile at him, casual as can be.

“We’ve been friends since we were seven. You can’t get rid of me that easily, Joseph.” Then, you rejoin your friends, leaving him to replay the scene over and over in his mind.

He turns to watch you go, unable to move his feet from where they suddenly appear to be stuck to the ground. He’s held in place by the weight of his realization – the emotion that he couldn’t name was love, for you.

I know someone who's a tv writer, and they're always calling her up and using the word 'urban'. She's a dork. She should be writing for Gus from Psych or just any old show, not whatever it is they think she's going to be good at.

The real sticking point for a lot of white readers isn't a heavy book about issues: it's connecting with a trashy beach read about a Mary Sue who happens to be black. Or, for those of us who read trash m/m, asking us to have a black man as our single perfect tear woobie of choice.

i also think part of the reason is that a lot of white trans guys who id as "tme" and are like weirdly obsessed with policing other ppl they see as "tme" think their experience is The Default for whatever identity they hold. they think that because they are a trans guy that doesn't experience transmisogyny, it must be true that no trans guys experience transmisogyny. because they were assigned female at birth and don't experience transmisogyny, it must be true that no one who was assigned female at birth experiences transmisogyny.

and that is unfortunately just how whiteness rots the brain. you see yourself as the default and anyone else as just a fluke. so when intersex people or poc or just in general people whose bodies are read as "male" while presenting more feminine than society thinks you should be allowed to are like "yeah no we experience transmisogyny on a pretty regular basis", the immediate conclusion is "well you're in the minority" or "it probably doesn't happen often enough for it to Count" or even less based in reality "you can just tell them you're afab and they'll stop being transmisogynistic to you." we are seen as a fluke, so our experiences aren't taken into account, which furthers the misconception that what white trans people experience is The Trans Man/Woman/Nonbinary/Etc Experience.

No Bakugo, he’s not plot relevant at all after the first episode. We will vaguely refer back to him in the final season with a shot of him staring at one of Deku’s battles from like a store or something but that’s it I want him gone

Also less in the whole Todoroki family arc about how sad Endeavour is that his family hates him for abusing them for their whole lives and more about the Todosibs complicated relationships with each other and Rei

No villains for the entire first season its just focused on UA, the competitive environment and how Izuku adapts to that and also his blossoming friendships

No Toga Ochako foil, there’s no reason for them to be foils sans ‘girl’. Idk develop that one gas villain (Mustard?) or whatever and have him be Ochako’s foil

Give Toga a proper character about self identity or whatever instead of just that love bullshit, idk she can foil someone else, I like villain hero foils but Ochako Toga was not it for me

The first villain the UA kids would fight is Stain. This isn’t just bc the Stain arc is one of my personal favorites, but I think it would be a cool transition between a mainly school focused 1st and partially 2nd season that would mainly worldbuild and get us into hero society and graducally exposing the flaws in that society. Given the LoV are basically just a bunch of people who are the result of the cracks in hero society I think it would be a nice seguway

Also Iida Tensi should actually be a corrupt hero.

Aizawa is actually forced to realize he’s a shitty teacher and has to undergo a character arc to be nicer to the people around him and realize that trauma does not make people stronger, it didn’t for him and it won’t for his students

...The kid obviously has insecurity issues strengthened by an abrasive relationship with his sister, minimal positive outlets to let himself flourish in a healthier way, and an inferiority complex he falsely believes strength will compensate for,, like, a school (Blueberry) whose main (whole? tbh) shtick is to make their trainers good at battling and centers the majority of its social AND curricular (that the player as an exchange student can observe, anyway) interactions around competitive Pokémon battles is NOT helping to do anything but strengthen any unhealthy thoughts and feelings about such concepts he has

•Note: when confronted with the reality that he's not as strong as he *perceives* he should be / earned the right to be (i.e. player beats him despite him being the "top" trainer at Blueberry), the cognitive dissonance it creates sends him into a panic attack....and the Blueberry kids just. scoff?? Immediately throw out their favor?? Very healthy mindsets and social hierarchy at Blueberry Academy, perfectly conducive to friendly and healthy competition, clearly (/sarcasm)

•Compare it to the variety of tracks of Naranja / Uva (2 of which - STEM and Humanities - have nothing to do with battling) and the Treasure Hunt, which encourages *independent* study into a variety of topics: i.e., allowing one to explore and experience a variety of things of personal interest in order to learn about one's self at one's own pace, bound by nothing but their own personalized limits...can you imagine how much that atmosphere would improve and expand Kieran's mental framework and ideas?? He can get everything he his desire "to be like [player] so, so badly" emphasized in his quote above - Strong Pokemon, going anywhere [he] wants, being friends with anyone (Carmine included)...and probably whatever attracted Ogerpon, for that matter - by being like the player and going to the Academy that the game emphasizes as being what gave the player opportunity and experience to have BECOME what Kieran admires / envies.

•Also, him transfering would give him some freedom / independence from Carmine - and nothing against her (...much), but I genuinely think Kieran would benefit a lot in an environment where he didn't have (to be forced) to rely on and compare himself to his sister's ideals and prowess...which Kieran very much mimics and absorbs when "stronger"...not a coincidence - they're seem pretty co-dependent in the Teal Mask at times, if not have a very neglect / enable type feedback aspect to their relationship. BUT that's a story for another post never

*Sprigatito would be Kieran's starter choice (or more like it would choose him, tbh) - and not just because it makes sense in my cannon (i.e. Florian w/ Quaxly, Juliana w/ Fuecoco) lol; sprigatitio is legitimately perfect for him:

•It desires attention and companionship, to the point it's first description was how it's, "capricious and attention-seeking, and it tends to sulk if ignored by people" and the trait continues all the way throughout it's evolution (/i.e. growth "phases"), with Meowscarada being described as, "sensitive and prone to jealousy. It can often be very attached to its Trainer, and it will become upset if its Trainer gives attention to other Pokémon". Sounds like Kieran towards both the player and Ogerpon, lol (Kieran: . Somewhat unrelated, but Florgato's being the edgy teenager (as Carmine referred to Kieran's "mood swings") phase of Sprigatito's line involved it's *mood* effecting its "edge" / "hardness" ...of it's fur, but still - Kierans a "moody teen", right? Anyway, imagine Kieran with a Pokémon that would be as obsessed with him as he was with Ogerpon, lol (/jk)

•It's a grass type, which tend to suit Kieran, and he seems to have an affinity for (Ogerpon, Dipplin line, Shiftry, etc.). It developing a dark type as it evolves reflects Kieran's arc - it's final evolution is also both MASKED (reflecting Ogerpan hyperfixation and Kieran's family's history), and Jester / Mardi Gras themed, which goes along with the festival theme Kieran exhibited during the Teal Mask DLC ( like with his Dipplin). Both Kieran and Meowscarada have those cute droopy eyes too, which is a fun design element to connect the too, if nothing else, lol

•Getting further out with the idea, though: It's lines shiny is, fubckin' oURPLE!! Purple cat for the ourple boy, thank you,, (and how shiny!Meowscarada has a purple cuff and an invisible "leash" [its flower bud] around its neck is vaguely similar to the purple chain of the Loyal three...okay I'm really reaching now but still. teehee... ). Hey, anyone notice how purple is a complementary color for yellow, which happens to be Kieran's eye and main acccesory (headband / bag) color and -- I'm going anywhere with this, I just think its neat 👍

•Honestly just replace his current cat (Incineroar) with Meowscarada - Incineroar suits Carmine a lot better imo...which is why it's my theory it's on his final team, but that's. Also a different post I'll probably never make :^)

•Like, I get why they wouldn't have given Kieran a Paldaen starter for his team (for a variety of reasons, honestly), but,, Think about it •Sprigatito using its kneading on Kieran's (fluffy, sowwy ponytail!Kieran fans) hair for impromptu aromatherapy would probably be good for this kids anxiety tbh

genuine question: why did you say that ages can be up for interpretation if you were gonna keep dialogue in the game that refutes that?

it just makes a really uncomfortable fanbase where theres people who either arent aware of it and ship things thinking its ok, or those that are and just continue shipping weird things simply cus youve said itd be ok. if you were gonna say ages were up for interpretation, you couldve at least tried to pretend that characters that are minors arent.

in the first place, i think we originally said that they are up to interpretation within the bounds of what makes sense within the text. i think it's pretty hard to, in good faith, interpret a number of young characters as being an appropriate age to ship even within some leniency.

but you're saying these people 'arent aware of' when the characters 'are minors' like that is still some objective predefined line, which we have objectively said we are not subscribing to. their ages are also generally arbitrary in the first place.

let us also please remember the entire reason that relationships with minors are a problem is because of the imbalance of power leading to deeply controlling and abusive dynamics. let us please also recall that these are fictional characters who are not real and cannot participate in such dynamics of abuse without the guiding hand of the person shipping them. someone who takes deep pleasure in that is probably concerning regardless of what age the characters are.

...but what you're saying here is that you have some notion of what ages the characters are, and you find it weird that i am not participating in the vigilantism of your self-proclaimed objective view of. it does not escape anyone that under the current tinderbrush social climate, this dismissal as "kinda weird" is an implication that i am complicit in some kind of problematic behavior... when, let us remember, the entire reason that we opted out of the ages was because people were immediately being extremely weird in all directions about that very vigilantism.

i am not interested in participating in whatever kind of "weird" shade you're throwing here, and i don't think anyone should be. when real people are involved in the community, we will do our best to make sure everyone is as safe as within our power to influence. as a moderation team we also still generally do discourage people from being "weird" about characters, whether they are underage or not.

if you're uncomfortable with this because it doesn't match up with your preferred lines in the sand and social grandstanding, then it is probably best for you to move on anyway.

people being weird about fictional characters is, well, always weird. but your concern is really about the fact that we are not drawing an exact line about who's a minor and who isn't. ame originally didn't want to include ages at all because of this sentiment. my counter was that there is at least an age range that the characters feel like they belong in. people are going to want ages, and we need to give them something or people are going to be weird about it. but if we assign them a number as their age, we are making that number up. surely you've met people who do not feel their age. so instead we give a range.

there are safe age approximations that i can make. for example: shelly's in middle school. she's probably 10-12 or so. but she doesn't have a literal actual age because she's fictional. we just have to pick a number that fits. whether it's 10, 11, or 12 doesn't really matter. she's in middle school. end of story. being weird about shelly is not controversial. don't do it. cain is probably in the 17-19 range. that's a safe approximation, yeah? any number in that range would be acceptable from an author standpoint. but now people are going to get real mad about which number he is. "is cain a minor????? is [x] okay now??????????" and listen. this is still easy. the answer is no. don't be fucking weird. it doesn't matter what number we set him as. shit isn't suddenly more or less acceptable because you interpret him as one number or the other. the reality of the situation is that other people think that some behaviors are suddenly acceptable once you pass the magic 18 line, and they aren't. if you think we're okay with more weird shit because of how we set this up, you're wrong, and the vigilantism has gone to your head.

TDI23 Season 2 ep 13 thoughts and my thoughts on a possible Season 3. Spoilers ahead.

Ep 13: All of the eliminated contestants come back and have chosen which finalists team they want to be on.

Team Caleb: Priya, Millie, Damien, Emma and Nichelle.

Team Wayne: Zee, Raj, Bowie, Axel, Ripper and Chase.

Team Julia: MK.

*Lauren/SG was not allowed to pick a team.*

First, they have use a wagon to pull their team up a mountain while they try to ignore some distractions along the way. Next, they have to cross a tightrope over a deep gorge with water and predators at the bottom while their team arms themselves with t-shirt cannons to attack the other finalists. Lastly, they must run further up the mountain and put on a flying squirrel suit and glide their way to the finish line at the docks to win the grand prize. I liked these challenges but was surprised that all three of them stayed in the fight the whole way through, that's a first for the franchise.

Chris:

Please stop abusing your interns. He says that Julia's new haircut has given her a power up and it feels like that's a reference to something but I have no idea what. Believes that Wayne is out of the challenge and doesn't approve of the hot air balloon that Chef got. Can't believe that Wayne won but seems happy for him I think.

Chef:

"Never skip leg day Caleb" and "Wayne is digging himself a grave" killed me omg. 😂 Got a hot air balloon for Chris and him that has hearts on it lol. Shoves a bag of marshmallows in Ripper's mouth when he complains about there not being any.

Elimination order:

3rd: Julia - Her podcast idea sounds dumb tbh. She only has one team member, LOL. Technically that did help her get to the gorge first but whatever. I laughed when she was knocked off the tightrope by Lauren. Gets knocked off again by Priya and then gets her hair BITTEN OFF by the raptor she insulted in season one. Ends up with a mullet even though the reactions from the others makes it sound like she had lost her whole scalp. Punches the raptor in the face in retaliation. Attacks Caleb while he's trying to cross the gorge and jumps to the other side to finish the tightrope first. Puts on a flying squirrel suit but is scared to jump off the mountain lol. Is physically incapable of playing fair and fights Caleb in the air. His weight and falling through the trees probably should have hurt her somehow but she's perfectly fine of course. 🙄 Continues to fight him while running to the finish line. Is salty about losing and wonders why she didn't win after how she played this time around. What can I say? Karma got you, bitch. 😉😁🖕

16th: Lauren/Scary Girl - Didn't get to choose a team but made up for it by being an absolute 👑Queen👑 by getting a hold of MK's t-shirt cannon and shooting Julia off the tightrope lmfao. 🤣 MK manages to take it back from her and she falls into the water. Lands between the predators and Caleb, then scares them away just by hissing at them, what a beast. 💪 Sings a little bit about Caleb and Julia crashing through the trees lol.

15th: Chase - Was water skiing behind the boat when it hit land causing him to smack into the back of it. 😂 Technically didn't have any of his own dialogue lol.

14th: Millie - Gets hit by a t-shirt she fired that ricocheted off the opposite gorge wall, which is so sad. 😔 She kinda makes up for it by telling MK to not even think about firing her cannon at Caleb when Damien is pointing his at her head.

13th: Emma - Has oneish lines of dialogue, rip. 💀 Still bites her finger nails.

12th: Nichelle - Wants Julia to lose and doesn't offer helpful advice about how to cross a tightrope when Caleb asks.

11th: Bowie - Managed to get Wayne and Raj to forget about the ice cream by shouting a bunch of sports/hockey cliches. It kinda sounds like he's getting a bit tired of Raj's lack of intelligence and honestly, I don't blame him. He did more to help Wayne than Raj did.

10th/9th: Axel/Ripper - They're still together and I laughed when he fell off the boat. She thinks that having friends is a disadvantage and loses faith in Wayne when he gets distracted. She has a pair of binoculars and updates the others on the air battle and when Wayne shows up. He is disappointed that there's no marshmallows this time despite just Priya getting one when she won previously.

8th: Zee - Gets distracted by the pizza which is a little unexpected tbh but still funny. 😆 Should have thrown MK into the water after she fired her cannon at him. Gives a sassy response to Bowie when he said that Wayne needs to spread out his arm flaps to avoid getting hurt. 😂

7th: MK - Is terrible at encouraging her teammate lol, I guess old habits die hard. Let Lauren hold her cannon and it immediately backfired lol. Actually managed to take it back from her later though. Fires at the other helpers and then gets pelted herself. 😂 Tries to comfort Julia about her ugly new haircut and isn't very good at it. Fired a t-shirt at Zee for no reason. Replies sarcastically when Julia is confused about why she didn't win.

6th: Damien - Still salty about his immunity idol being stolen which is great to see. Points his cannon at the back of MK's head with an angry look on his face. 😈

5th: Raj - Tried to get Wayne to forget about the ice cream but he falls victim to it too lol. Seems to have lost some more IQ points since his elimination. Isn't much help to Wayne throughout the finale.

4th: Priya - It bugs me how she's not supporting Caleb in the right way. She reminds me of a certain horrendous contestant from RR who constantly put down her partner when he wasn't doing well in a challenge, though not quite as bad as her. Stays with Caleb despite him not winning.

2nd: Caleb - $1 to 1,000,000 charities, bro wtf. 😆 It's sad how his team is just supporting him because they think he has the better chance of beating Julia and don't care if he actually wins. 😔 Is very top heavy and struggles with the tightrope, falling off on his own instead of being knocked off. Gets knocked off again by Wayne's helpers. Makes it across the tightrope and catches up to Julia who finally jumps after he arrives. Instead of letting her fall to her death, he gives her advice on how to glide properly and she repays him by attacking him. They continue to fight in the air until he tackles her and they fall through the trees. Falls for her fake pain routine once but is still able to keep up with her. Feels bad that he lost but recovers quickly after Priya kisses him.

Winner 🏆

1st: Wayne - Likes the canoe the money is in and forgot about the grand prize somehow lol. It's sweet how his team's support for him is genuine. 👍 Is struggling with pulling his team, then gets distracted by the pizza bar and then the ice cream bar. Finally makes it to the gorge but instead of being knocked off by Caleb's team, he's knocked off by Raj, who thought that he would want a free t-shirt. 🤦 On his seventh try he decides to pole vault across the gorge but falls short and lands crotch-first on the tightrope that launches him high into the air and out of sight. Somehow, he landed where the flying squirrel suits are and is back in the race. "Desperate times call for bad ideas", so he decides to put his arms at his sides and gain incredible speed at the risk of getting hurt. His dangerous plan paid off and he won the final challenge! 🥳🎉👏 "Can I keep the canoe?!" 😂 Apparently he's going to buy a new bus for the Snow Owls and put some money away for college or buy a second bus so the team can get to places twice as fast which is not how it works lol.

What a season! It's not perfect but it's not the worst one either in my opinion. I'm not sure if I like it more than the first reboot season or not. The challenges were mostly great and there were many funny moments. I'm happy about the winner and kinda glad that no one can be a finalist twice. Btw, I put Caleb 2nd and Julia 3rd because he looked closer to the target to me and he could have held his arm out to block her from getting to the finish line I think. If there is more Total Drama down the line, I won't use this format to talk about the episodes anymore, it's way too much work. Anyways, on with my thoughts about a possible season three of the reboot!

Reboot Season 3 Thoughts/Hopes

- JULIA HAS TO BE THE FIRST BOOT! After everything she's done there's no way anyone other than MK would trust her and I think her reaction would be priceless.

- Nichelle and Lauren are the only ones from this gen to never make the merge so they could go far and Lauren should be the main villain for sure.

- I'd love to see Zee and Damien go far and for Zee to not get a BS elimination for once.

- Priya, Caleb and Wayne should probably go early.

- It's not something I want to see but in the finale, it kinda looked like there's some angst brewing between Raj and Bowie, so that could be a plot point in the next season.

- Emma and Bowie should rekindle their friendship, it was weird that they never interacted in season 2.

- Axel and Ripper should be on separate teams, I liked that she was a bit nicer at the start of the season but it seemed like she went back to being harsh after she got together with Ripper. Some space apart should allow her to keep improving, I'm not sure about him though.

- Millie needs to train between seasons if she wants to stay in the game longer without Priya guiding her.

- I have no idea what MK could do in another season, she's not well liked by the others and seems too lazy to train tbh.

- Chase has nothing else to offer except a short-lived villain arc I think.

- Chris still being the family friendly version of Jigsaw and Chef still caring about the contestants wellbeing while they both keep dropping some truly hilarious and savage burns.

- I like the island and genuinely believe that there could be more of it to discover that we haven't seen yet. Possible examples include: a field of flowers, a pond that no dangerous animals live in, a portion of forest where the treetops are so thick that it's mostly dark even in the daytime with only a little bit of sunlight shining through, etc.

- The cookie challenge from Squid Game would be great to see and a corn maze.

Tbh, I think that Pecharunt used to be mischievous but never causing any real trouble. But after being banished, he became a lot more malicious and revenge driven. I’d say he needed the masks so that he can absorb them and be able to see where Terapogas is. Despite all this, he keeps his mischievous side as a facade, as a coping mechanism to forget about the physical and mental pain he has to constantly endure. Almost like a mask if you think about it.

I’d say that Pecharunt renamed itself to ‘Dokutaro’ or ‘Dokuwāro’ to sound more menacing.

Now, I really hope Pecharunt becomes the main antagonist on its own in this fic since most antagonists tend to be evil teams who sometimes controlled legendary Pokémon, in my opinion, it’s gotten a bit stale. So it’ll be interesting to see a Pokémon acting as an antagonist on its own and acting malicious (Pecharunt actually wants to KILL Millie).

So whatever Project Venus is, I can see Pecharunt sabotaging it and using it to its own benefits.

Now, for some headcanon powers, I think that he can release souls that he absorbed to have some kind of hive-mind. To make up his lack of combat skills, he’s a master at manipulating others and a master at psychological warfare. As he was able to manipulate Kieran to do what it wants but leave Kieran in the dust.

He would also kill his victims by manipulating them to kill themselves, since to him, it’s easier to absorb souls this way.

And, by psychological warfare, he does that again and again even at the end of the fic as before he unfused and everyone was celebrating, he used the last of his power to blast at Carmine as he knew that Kieran would save her. And that does happen. Carmine would be overwhelmed with guilt from that incident onwards. Since Kieran is now trapped in the timeline where the future paradox Pokémon live. Which is why I said this ending has a hollow victory, the protagonists won, but at what cost?

Kieran would break out of Pecharunt’s control later on by the protags, only to suffer later on again.

Since if I were to put in Pecharunt’s words when asked by the protagonists:

“The world has betrayed me, so why should I play fair?!”

(He can speak but choosing to Poké speak instead)

SORRY FOR RAMBLING ON AGAIN. I have some ideas but I think I gone a bit overboard. But again, you choose to use any of these ideas if you want!

WTF THIS ANSWER GOES HARD!!! I DONT THINK YOU REALIZE IT BUT YOURE A BIT ON THE NOSE WITH WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT PECHARUNT WOULD IN PROJECT VENUS! Ofc, I wanna keep the twists and turns surprises, so I can't rlly go in-depth with how right you might be or WHO "Project Venus" is.

But I do believe that Pecharunt could absorb souls and release them, or like the toxic chain, chain those souls to itself (Think of how Shinigami gets Yuma to follow her around in Rain Code)

But it is also parasitic, in which it infects itself onto a main host and then that host has most of its power, which it can inflict onto others via zombification, resurrection, etc!

I cant say who or what gets possessed in Project Venus other than the obvious, but I'll say that the idea will actualky be used in canon, soon.

About Carmine...she is HEAVILY GUILTY for how she treated her brother, and in the fic I plan for Carmine and other characters to have tender moments, as pokémon doesn't fully get to delve into the nitty-gritty of family issues like I want them to (ie. Grief, jealousy, tension, etc.) And we already see such an example with Millie and her mother

I wanna cover as many bases as I can without making Millie seem like a "woe is meee" type character. While she is our protag and she has her moments I want to allow her, and many others, to at least gave clarity

I've been thinking more about how I wanna handle things long-term. My decision to only allow children to join is a nice short-term fix to keep things interesting, but Poopy and Hairy are already pretty competent. By the time they hit 13, they'll already be way more useful than Yoshiko was as a 13-year-old. At that point, this should be a really solid, stable colony. Which is great and all, but I've played that before, and I'm not sure how interesting of a story it will make.

My first thought was to make a rule that Yoshiko has to adopt any imperiled child that she can, but doing that still leads to the same situation, with an addition of 'and eventually the colony will be awkwardly big.'

What I'd like to do is: when one of the kids reaches adulthood, Yoshiko heads off into the wilderness and starts a new colony, leaving the existing well-established one in the hands of the new adult. The problem with this is that Rimworld doesn't have very good support for multiple simultaneous colonies, and I really don't want to manage multiple colonies anyway. Weirdly enough, as far as I can tell, even with mods there's no good way to have Yoshiko outright leave the faction and head out to start anew, at least not as a fully playable character. (If I'm missing a 1.4-compatible mod that'll do this though, please tell me.)

So, what I'm considering instead:

If Yoshiko encounters a child in need, she has to try to take them in. This includes ones who end up injured on the map for whatever reason, lone children who request to join, and child prisoners of war. When she's able to, she has to add the Emancipation meme from Vanilla Expanded - Ideology to her ideoligion, buy child slaves whenever it's reasonably possible, and emancipate them. If they decide to join, they're her problem now.

To simulate handing the colony over, once a kid turns 18, I banish them and abandon the colony. This approach sucks, but it's about the closest the game will let me do. Potentially I could use something like the RimDeed mod to instead send them off to a bright future, but that would effectively remove them from the game world. Banishing them instead means that they'll still be in the world and might turn up again.

Potentially, I could lower the max age for all of this from 18 to 13. Teenagers are effectively full adults for most purposes. so this would make it more of an actual challenge. It would also mean abandoning the current colony pretty soon. Poopy and Hairy are only a few hours of game time away from hitting 13.

Since this is meant to simulate handing the colony to the kid, Yoshiko's not allowed to strip the place bare before she leaves. She doesn't have to strike out into the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on her back, but she can't haul the entire storeroom off with her, either. The direction of her travels is pretty open. If I wanted to win, it would make the most sense to head toward the parked spaceship, but honestly, I'm not that concerned about getting an ending. (Most of them are kinda boring gameplay tbh.)

But, I'm not sure which option would be more fun, let alone which people would wanna read about, and I might be missing some relevant mod options. So, poll in the next post.

I’m tired of reading this tbh. Some of us think the video is probably real and we don’t call JK names? I haven’t seen Demini and their anons calling him names, or did I miss something? We just think the video is real and it makes us question our previous opinion about Jikook, which in the end we know nothing about or not even 5% of their lives. And the amount of ppl focusing on details like the window bay when we all know angles can trick our minds big time is weird. Remember when the very first taennie pic was leaked? The one in the car? So many armys were trying so hard to debunk it, saying it was an edit using a pic of Tae from in the Soop or whatever… well that aged well. I’m not saying the video is 100% real, who knows, could be a hoax, but honestly.. let’s be real, it looks legit. And JK is more than allowed to bring a woman into his apartment, he’s a grown adult, he does whatever he wants with his own private life and I think we’ve all been pretty clear on this blog that the problem was his privacy being invaded. A lot of us are Jikookers who are trying to consider all possibilities here, and if it turns out JK was involved with that woman then good for him. As for me I see no problem with him dating someone else than Jimin even though I used to be pretty hellbent on them being a thing. Well, now I try to take a step back and look at things as objectively as I can. I’m so disappointed in Jikookers pitting at eo and calling us names because we think the video is real. Yes, I believe this is JK and his apartment. No, I don't know who that woman is and what her deal with JK was. I don't have a problem with JK engaging with women, and I wouldn't call him any names ever over it because it is not my business to judge him. It's completely fine and reasonable to wonder, though, what Jikook's relationship is in light of this new information. I see so many accounts acting like people are idiots for thinking this may be JK or that Jikook were not together then, or maybe were never together to begin with, or trying to make some "conclusions" over the nature of their relationship.

We can't "conclude" anything because we know too little, and shipping is like walking a path blindly. You start in one direction, thinking you will find a meadow because you feel grass underneath your feet, but then you end up in a lake. We can only make assumptions based on clues from the partial information we have. The key is that we should be objective while doing it. I see too many people comfortably showing clear subjectivity in their "analyses" by taking small, unrelated things and turning them into a narrative, and then denying everything that may counterpose it.

To me, these types of people are delusional, have no critical thinking, basic logic, or science understanding. In real life and in science, when you are exploring a hypothesis, your deductions should come from the evidence and information you are presented with and not the other way around. If new information becomes available, some of those deductions may turn out to be incorrect. You accept it and continue with your theory in a way that best explains all the data you have available now. Simple.

Small break from regularly scheduled good omens content because I finally watched the end of Lioness and like…come on. I knew it was a crap show the whole time I was watching it, but like…fucking hell.

In aid of anyone who like…doesn’t want to write bad stories, here are many of the things lioness did wrong. Please look away if you liked this show I’m not here to spoil anyone’s fun. Full spoilers below the cut.

- almost every single plot strand outside the main secret agent infiltration narrative was totally random and completely external, rather than grown from character or existing story. Not enough CIA shooting in this ep? Oh, your team has been borrowed for an illegal mission on US soil. Natural family angst not at a high enough level? Ah, daughter’s in a deadly car accident with people we’ve never seen or heard of and won’t again. Oh, and she’s randomly pregnant at 14! Cool cool cool. But it’s ok cuz god gives her an abortion

- the plot REGULARLY made no sense and the characters couldn't employ logic if it slapped them in the face. Like, someone explain to me why AFTER you have already run an insertion op to start the embedding process for your asset - thus meaning that the mark could contact her at ANY POINT - you decide THAT is the moment when you should fake abduct her, beat her up enormously, including on her face. Like, if it had been a ploy to get Aaliyah's sympathy that would have been one thing, but they 100% hadn't thought it through at all. These are supposed to be crack agents???

- they had a central moral quandary but they didn’t understand what it was or what they were trying to say. Was it about how money is all that counts and rich people are gonna rich no matter who you kill (eg all the weird dialogue with Nicole Kidman's husband)? Was it that fighting terrorism with terrorism is ineffective and pointless and cruel (literally one single conversation between Joe and Cruz at the end)? Is it that trying to have it all as a woman is not possible when you’re a super secret agent (I think this one was unintentional consequence of super clichéd writing tbh)? Was it that any problem can be solved with enough shooty fighty (prob the most evidence for this one)? The show certainly doesn't know, so how could I?

- the show was BAD at writing queer women. Like, ok, it was hot, and aaliyah and cruz had interesting potential. But there were these moments that rang SO false. Like...after Cruz runs from the hotel room after sleeping with Aaliyah, Joe heads off to meet her. She grabs Bobby and says, let's go. I literally was like, oh, finally, Bobby will talk some lesbian sense into Cruz. But Bobby was just like...there to drive the main character to the hotel?? You have a canonically queer woman and another going through extreme queer angst and you just...don't put them in the same room?

- the politics. Like, Ok. I know it's paramount plus. I know it's the same guy who did Yellowstone. I know it's US propaganda, and copaganda, and like every ganda that's known to humankind. I know it's not overtly antiabortion but also kind of is, I know it has a THING about the way it writes woman (like..did Joe really seem the type to have kids to anyone?? Are women EVER allowed to be strong and badass without a rape backstory AND an abuse backstory?). It's all terrible. But fine, whatever I sort of signed up for it. I knew from the first five minutes that this was going to be America Rah Rah Shootytime, and tbh I knew from the posters. But the thing that really pissed me off in the end? The like absolutely random and unnecessary barbs at climate change. There were just a few moments but it basically made out like the politicians wanted to keep this 'terrorist' alive because he was artificially inflating the price of oil and they're trying to 'wean the country off fossil fuels'. Like, REALLY? We don't have enough conspiracy theories? Fucksake.

And finally - the ending. After all the moral questioning about whether she can kill Aaliyah's father or not, Cruz's hand is forced and she ends up having to kill or be killed, which is an utter cop out. She also does not go back for Aaliyah. I'm sorry. That is some bullshit. I just don't buy it. I mean the whole plan was super dumb - literally, it really made zero sense - but was Cruz really happy to put Aaliyah in jeopardy that way? She is the one who brought this killer into the house - does Cruz really think she is safe? And given everything Aaliyah was saying about how little she wanted that life, wouldn't Cruz have offered her the chance to run with her? I dunno. Obviously not all lesbian stories have to be happy. But that one was just DUMB.

Ok, thus ends my rant on the narrative shortcomings of a terrible show that I watched because...lesbians. Anyway. I hope you either enjoyed the show, or enjoyed the rant!

Hunter - They like to cook anything involving meat on any mode. Gourmand - They like cooking/baking just about anything. They're very experimental about it (and good at it too). Artificer - She likes to barbecue things. Rivulet - They like making smoothies mixed from gfuel and copious amounts of energy drinks. Spearmaster - They also like making smoothies but less chaotic. Saint - They do be makin the salade.

Monk - Popcorn Survivor - Sandwiches Hunter - Pepper Steak Gourmand - Anything. Very indecisive for an actual favorite. Artificer - Red Velvet Cakes Rivulet - "Rivulet's secret juice mix" (which is just a catastrophic rush of flavors and sugar mixed into a single glass ; airport juice) Spearmaster - Although it annoys them that they have to wait for it to melt so it can pass through the proboscis, they like eating ice cream of any flavor. Saint - Pistachios

I misread your question and thought it said "what are the others like when stream collabing with rivulet?" so here's answers to both the real and fake because the misread is almost finish and i dont wanna bother scrapping it ahhhhhh: Monk - The least chaotic video gamer and the most chaotic video gamer? A concoction for chaos and tears. Survivor - Usually joins in on whatever Riv finds fun atm and is overall chill with it. Hunter - Actively partakes in chaos as well. Most of the time, hunter takes the wheel of things, and riv would follow up (like a pirate captain and its crew) Gourmand - These two always have a grand time because they're very open to anything fun. Artificer - Aggressive and competitive playing. Might ragequit mid-stream if its PVP involved. Spearmaster - Allow chaos ensue between a player trying to play seriously and a player who fucks about. Saint - Most of the time, ruins the stream and kills the vibe. Doesn't bother directly collaborating with them anymore unless someone else is there.

Monk - Actively replies to chat and allows them to join in the fun and vote for decisions. Survivor - Chill, almost no commentary. If you donate something of any amount they get overly excited. 100$+ will make them stand up and have a moment of self reflection. Hunter - A bit more active/competitive than survivor and the chat is more aggressive than usual (bullying but nobody actually gets bullied vibes). Sometimes arti and her kids take cameos, which spices things up a bit. (they don't bully the kids though because if they do they get insta banned) Gourmand - Mostly anything to do with friends- whether its doing irl stuff like baking streams or jackbox sessions. Markiplier vibes tbh. Artificer - A bit tense. Speedrun timer beside them. Sometimes her kids take cameos when they get a bit needy. If like- she's in the middle of a speedrun but hears one of them crying, she will immediately forfeit and get to her babies to calm them down. She wants dem world records but she ain't a shit mom yunno. Spearmaster - Mostly speedpaints and music composing. Creative stuff while having a chat. Saint - Fucking chaotic. You are unable to predict what they want to do next.

I am to think of answers on the spot and it kinda hurts my brain trying to think of them while making them coherent, but I understand your desires to fill these curiosities. I'm happy that you're asking me out of every other rw artist in tumblr.

I still don't know why you're asking these VERY specific questions though. Are you going to make fanart/fanfiction? That's the impression I'm given because I never bring up the topics your questions have through my art because theyre things i dont really think about or worry atm. (i dont have this information at the back of my head so readily you know)

I do have the decision to just not answer, but I can't help but feel like I need to for some reason (probably because they seemed suspiciously specific).
