Tumblr media
It's late, sorry. All the bullshit from real life. But I'm getting to the prompts from THIS POST, so hope you don't mind. Also, you can still request the prompts if you want. In my inbox. 😊
18.) Hallmark Movie AU
I hate Hallmark movies..... 👀👀 My mother starts watching Hallmark Christmas movies BEFORE HALLOWEEN!! I try to avoid watching them, but it's literally all she watches leading up to Christmas, so I do know the formula well... So yeah, this shall be fun. How the fuck do I fit it into a drabble though?

Lucien was just walking up the drive to the estate. He couldn't understand why so many people chose to do business at their homes. Especially when they had other houses they owned as well. They could just as easily convert one of their other houses into an office, then they could separate work from home.
But apparently not, as he made it to the front door, and knocked, waiting for either Feyre or Rhysand to answer the door. He hadn't been to Velaris in years, since he and Elain had tried to make things work, only for work to constantly get in the way, and Lucien always had to leave for business. It was too much for Elain, and she had called the relationship off. It hurt too much for him to come back at all, wishing to do business with Velaris over phone, or video.
Unfortunately Tamlin, the dick he's become, had made that impossible now. The man had become absolutely insufferable since Feyre had called him out for the bullshit behaviour while she was with him, and left. Unfortunately, Lucien still had to work for Tamlin, and when he had thought the two were friends, he learned very quickly they were not. Sometimes he wanted nothing more than to quit, though he needed to be realistic. He needed the job and money, he had no way to survive if he quit. For now, he stood in front of the front door of Feyre and Rhysands home, waiting for one of them to come to the door.
“Lucien?” He heard from behind him. Shocked, he pulled his coat tighter before turning around to see Elain, and god had she looked as beautiful as ever.
“Elain, hello.” Lucien responded, hoping he hadn’t sounded as breathless as he felt.
“What are you doing here?” Elain asked, keeping back, the rest of her sentence left unspoken, yet easily able to pick up. Without calling first?
Lucien stood there, looking at Elain, taking a deep breath before responding. “I was informed last night I had to go somewhere for urgent business. I was not told where, until I landed.” Because of course Tamlin would do this. Of course he would send Lucien to Velaris, and not tell him where he was going, because fucking Tamlin couldn’t even speak anything to do with Feyre.
“So you’re here for work.” Elain responded, barely hiding the disappointment in her voice. “Well, Rhysand has brought Feyre out to Adriata for her birthday. So they aren’t home at the moment. They won’t be back until the end of the weekend.” She explained, looking towards him.
“Oh, well, I apologize.” Lucien stated. “I’ll go find somewhere to stay.” Lucien continued, before going to walk down the stairs.
“Stay.” Elain called out, causing Lucien to stop in his tracks, turning to look up at the woman he once called his lady. “Feyre would be upset if you didn’t stay, since you’re here for work, and are waiting for her. Come, I’ll show you to a guest room.” Elain finished, her face softening slightly, looking down at him. He was shocked, he hadn’t expected her to ask him to stay here.
He started walking back up the steps again, slightly more hesitant this time, his bag feeling far more heavy. He hadn’t been planning to be staying near Elain for any period of time, especially alone.
“I’ll just drop my bags off, and then go find somewhere to eat.” He found himself thinking out loud, as he made it inside, suddenly warmed outside of the cold winter air. He forgot how cold it could get this far north in the winter. Further south where he lived, it was much warmer year round. It didn’t sit in summer temperatures, more close to spring, so the cold bite of the winter was not something he was used to.
“I was just making dinner, you’re more than welcome to stay.” Elain shrugged, as she turned before walking back into the direction of the kitchen.
Lucien was left standing there, confused. Elain was the one to call things off with him, and he hadn’t been quite over her yet, he had never gotten over her, and here he was sleeping in the same house as her, and going to be eating dinner with her. This couldn’t be good.
*** *** ***
The next two days held that of comfort. Shockingly, Elain had come up with reasons for being near Lucien as much as possible. Lucien had to admit it was making him miss the times where they were together, and if he could, he would stay. She was also a huge help in picking out a birthday gift for her sister, as he had still needed to get one for her.
Feyre and Rhys had come back in time for him to do his business, and he was just settling in for the night in the guest room when his phone had started ringing.
“Hello?” He answered the call, trying not to sound as tired as he felt.
“I haven;t heard from you in days, what is going on, you were supposed to get there, sort this business out, and come back. Where are you?” Lucien heard his boss through the phone, which had started to set his nerves on end.
“Rhys and Feyre were away, and only got back yesterday. I went over everything this evening, and now I’m just about to lie down and was going to head back after Christmas.” Lucien explained, his hesitance overshadowing his annoyance.
“I need those plans back ASAP. You should have told me they weren’t there as soon as you arrived. I’ve been coming up with lies to keep investors busy. I’ll arrange a flight home for you tonight. Get to the airport.” Tamlin had responded, sounding frustrated as though Lucien was the one who had forced Feyre and Rhys away before arriving when he hadn’t even known he was coming here to begin with.
“Tonight!” Lucien explained back, shocked. He was exhausted, and would have to completely pack, and to make it on time
"If you want to keep your job, yes, you will be on that plane tonight." It was as though Lucien could see the rising anger in his former friends eyes as he spoke. There were days he missed when Tamlin were his friend, but he was ultimately glad the man had shown his true face, because Lucien could not be friends with such a controlling man with a heart made of stone.
"Send me the flight information." Lucien sighed, as he pressed the palm of his other hand into his eye, right before he heard the line go dead as Tamlin had hung up without even a goodbye.
Just a few short moments later his phone had buzzed again indicating an email, and when he had checked it he realized his flight was scheduled to leave in- no, that couldn't be right. It was set to leave it two hours? That barely left him enough time to pack and get to the airport. He would not have enough time to seek anyone out to say goodbye.
He would not have time to- Elain. They had had such am amazing weekend, despite how things had ended between the two of them all those years ago, it was as though it had never ended at all. Yet he would have to leave without the chance to say goodbye. And his working had been what caused her to end things in the first place. She was going to be furious with him.
As much as it pained him to do so, he quickly wrote out a letter to Elain, expressing his pain, and sadness, and deep regret at having to leave like this, before he quickly rushed to pack, and then silently left the house, his heart breaking again, with every step he took further away.

Lucien landed a few hours later and had taken the night to sleep, before heading into work. The first think he had noticed was the warmth, finding he was missing the winter coolness, especially as Christmas was in just a few days.
Before Lucien could get to the office, he had almost bumped into his brother as he was trying to shoo a bug out of the was of his good eye.
"Lucien!" Eris seemed shocked, as though he hadn't expected to see his youngest brother here. At least that's what Lucien thought, because he was surely not expecting to see Eris here.
"Eris." Lucien replied, not hiding the confusion. "What are you doing here?" Wishing he could wait for a reply, but he was running late, and started to walk into the building before Tamlin could get angry for him being late, his confusion growing as Eris walked alongside him.
"I am here for work." Eris quipped, a smirk on hissing face. Lucien couldn't keep the frustration from his face at this information.
When the two brothers though had entered the elevator, even more confusion arose as Eris hadn't picked a floor, leaving the single floor Lucien had chosen.
Though the elevator had barelynstarted moving when Eris had stopped the elevator, with the emergency stop, ready to speak to Lucien
"Give me the paperwork from Velaris."
Lucien only lifted an eyebrow, looking to his brother, at the audacity he had for demanding paperwork he had no right to.
"Tamlin wanted you to go work for it, so Father can have a reason to keep working. What Tamlin does not know is that the board of the company is going to be... encouraging fathers retirement notice by the new year. Come the new year I will be the CEO of Vanserra's Vision." Though the elevator kept still and unmoving, Eris still whispered. "I will be the one to be meeting with Tamlin today, and will make it known that I will be going over every business dealing, starting with this one, and changing what I see fit as the new CEO. So, I ask you again, give me the paperwork from Velaris."
Hesitant, but with no reason to believe his brother was lying, Lucien slowly held out the envelope with the paperwork. "I could get fired for giving this to you, rather than him." Lucien added, as Eris took the envelope, from Luciens outstretched hand.
"Not if you quit." Eris answered, and continued upon seeing his brothers facial reaction. "It is not a secret how Tamlin treats you, just as it is not a secret how you are severely underpaid for the work you do. With Father being forced into retirement, and my taking his place, I want to offer you a job, with far better pay."
Lucien couldn't keep the shock from his face. "Don't mess with me. We aren't children any longer."
"I'm beyond serious." Eris deadpanned. "Additionally, I've been working with someone for the past few months, even if you do not want to accept the job, we've been working on a new eye for you. One that would be far better and much more comfortable than that oversized, painfully uncomfortable metal marble Tamlin has provided you with."
To shocked to speak, Eris took that to continue. "Like prosthetic arms that an amputee is able to move the fingers with a thought, the eye is expected to give you vision back. It is a prototype though, so your work would be keeping in touch, wherever you choose to live, and letting me know how the eye works, until perfected and you receive full vision again. The pay will be far more than you get here, and you could return permanently to Velaris if you wish. No constant travel."
Lucien could only stare at his brother, couldn't even find the strength to blink, which, did, dry his eyes, causing the fake one to start causing pain.
He just stood there, and ended up pulling himself together as Eris returned the movement of the elevator.
"What will it be little brother?" Eris' usual smirk on his face, though the taunting tone was nowhere to be heard. "Remain here, constantly travelling, only to get underpaid, and extremely undervalued, or, quit, and start at Vanserra's Vision, representing the company while living permanently in Velaris?" The final words of the question leaving Eris' lips as they had reached the top floor, and Tamlins office, the man looking incredibly angry that Lucien was late, and Eris was with him.

Standing where he stood, just a week ago, though this time exceedingly more nervous. It was Christmas Eve, and as he was walking up the drive, he could see the celebrations going on inside.
He hadn't heard anything from her for the three days he had been gone, and hadn't expected much, but hoped she would hear him out. He hoped she would hear him out and at least give him a chance, give them another chance. Even though he really gave her no reason to trust him.
Lifting his hand, he slowly started to knock, only as his nerves grew more. He had to stop himself from putting pressure on his eye, because it wasn't the sake eye any longer this one was far more complex.
He thought his mother would cry when she had seen it the first time, as it looked so real. It didn't feel real though, and was slightly less comfortable than his previous one, which his brother had ensured would be the main focus in the first upgrade. Despite the lack of comfort, Lucien still insisted on wearing it, because he could see. Not much, he couldn't see shapes, or colours just yet. But he could see light, which was far more than he could see from that eye in almost a decade. He wasn't ready to give that up.
The shock of light registering in his brain each time, in that eye, like now, as Feyre opened the door in front of him, always left him just amazed at technology.
"Lucien?" Feyre seemed puzzled at the fact that he was standing on her porch, though he heard the slight twinge of anger in her voice. He noticed Feyre look off to the side, before continuing to speak. "She doesn't want to talk to you."
Lucien nodded, more to himself than in response to Feyre. "I expected as much. Could you please let her know I stopped by, and give her this Christmas gift?" He held out the small gift bag, that included a card inside, where he had expressed the most sincere apologies he could through writing, as well as the address of his new apartment in Valaris should she decide she ever want to speak to him.
"Lucien? Why did you come back? Don't you need to be at work?" Feyre asked, as though she couldnt help the curiosity.
"I quit." Lucien simply replied. "Merry Christmas Feyre." He smiled sadly, before turning tonstart back down the stairs. "Please, give my Christmas wishes, as well as most sincere apologies to-"
"What do you mean you quit?" He heard Elain ask sharply, coming into view, as well as coming outside as well.
Shocked, Lucien looked up to the woman who made his heart race, looking at him with such curious intensity, demanding an answer, that he found himself blurting out, "I no longer work for Tamlin?" It came out in the form of a question, which seemed to create more of the same reaction from Elain.
"You need that job! I broke up with you, because you needed that job. I've been living with a broken heart, just wishing you were happy at least, living that job, and you just quit, as if it's nothing!" Elain was getting close to shrieking now.
Lucien knew it was difficult on her to end things, but he hadn't known she had suffered so long. He hadn't known it had effected her so much.
"I wasn't happy. I missed you so much. But you ended things, so I was going to respect your wishes." Lucien responded.
That had stopped Elain, as though she didn't know what to say next.
"I quit, because Eris is taking over Vanserra's Vision. So he offered me a job, paying better, one I don't have to constantly travel, only a few days every few months to get an upgraded eye. Other than that, I can live here." Lucien added.
"You moved back here?" Elain whispered, looking up to Lucien, as she took a small step towards him.
"Get another eye?" He heard someone ask, confused, from back at the house. He hadn't realised they had gotten a larger audience.
"Yes. I did. I'm free now, and whether you want to give us another try or not, I know I want to live near you, because you make everyone, make me, so much happier. But if you want me gone, tell me, and I will-" he couldn't finish his sentence as suddenly Elain had pulled him down, and brought his lips to hers, kissing him intently, trying to show him through the action how much she missed him, and how much she did love him.
It took just a second, before Lucien quickly wrapped his arms around Elain, returning the kiss, feeling more joy, and more at home than he had in the years since she had ended things.
After the two had finished, Lucien had again heard from the house again, a question, louder this time, aimed to him.
"I'm glad you're happy and together again and all. But can you explain now what you meant about getting eyes?"
Still wrapped in his arms, Elain couldn't help the laugh, but then seemed to have noticed his eye for the first time, and couldn't help but lift her hand up to check it out a bit more.
Lucien only smiled down to her.
*** *** ***
The following Christmas, Lucien found himself moving around Elains stuff in his apartment, and moving some more of her things, looking for his glasses.
"Elain, I love you, but if you're staying here more, we're going to need to get you your own dresser and shelves. Having clothing with mine I know bothers you, and I know, the lighting in my washroom isn't good for your make-up. And then your gardening tools, it's all taking over, I can't find my glasses." Lucien called out, knowing Elains been saying this for weeks, and he's been denying needing to do so.
Elain then walked out of Luciens room, smiling innocently, too innocently as she grabbed a garden glove and pulled the glasses out. "I'll buy it all, I'll make sure everything matches!" Elain smiled, before going back into the bedroom to continue getting ready.
Lucien had a feeling Elain had planned this, but then felt as though it were too late to change his mind. Besides, he couldn't exactly argue with her.
Putting his glasses on, he felt slightly annoyed that he needed them to begin with, though they helped him see more clearly, after getting his fourth eye from Eris, as well as a woman he learned was named Nuan. Nuan was designing and building the eye, and Eris was funding the project. With each upgrade, Lucien met with both of them, and explained to them his experiences, and answered Nuans questions. He was moving towards being able to see, with this fourth version of the eye, though he needed help of glasses.
"I can't wait until I am done with these glasses." Lucien was muttering as they walked outside.
"I like them. I think they make you look smart." Elain smiled up to Lucien, pulling him away from the car.
"I take offence to that!" Lucien sputtered, looking down to his girlfriend.
"No you don't!" Elain added, with a cheeky smile, getting on her toes to kiss Luciens cheek, before moving to then get into the car. "Especially because I find you more sexy with the glasses." Elain added before turning around and moving to get into the car, effectively hiding her smirk as well. "Come on, we're going to be late." She concluded.
Lucien was left standing there, finding no counter argument, just watching as Elain had gotten into the car, and reached over so she could put the key in and start it, and get the heat going.
Before long, Lucien eventually moved to get into the car himself, and once he got in, the damned glasses had immediately fogged up from the quick temperature shift of cold to warmth.
"Dear Lady, my love, you may find these glasses sexy. I find them an annoying inconvenience." Lucien stated, sitting there, seeing nothing but clouded lenses, but hearing as Elain started laughing beside him.

Again, Shae very much dislikes Hallmark Movies. So if this didn't read like on, she is sorry. She also doesn't know why she's talking in the third person here.
