Tumblr is getting rid of avatars and no longer showing where a reblog comes from in post headers to “afford more room for badges.”

I always felt kinda bad when I was gifted badges and then didn’t use them, cuz people spent actual money on them. So I’m asking, please do not gift me badges, or any other tumblr merch for that matter.

I threw them a bone last year and paid for the ad-free because the ads and blazed softcore porn on the app were infuriating, but I’m canceling it. They’re not getting anything from me anymore. I’ll have to switch back to using the Firefox mobile browser. Hopefully the new dash un-fuckers that are going around will work on mobile.

#for the record ‘running an experiment’ now means ‘this is how it’s going to be regardless of feedback’#someone posted screenshots of responses from two different staff members #that were exact copies of each other #they were in response to separate feedback messages sent almost a month apart #one about the dash layout and one about the avatars #they’re lucky cuz staff never even graced me with a response to the long thought out civil message I’d sent them #maybe I was too civil #this is all the more reason for me to get rid of my iphone too #apparently apple makes it impossible for Firefox to run extensions on mobile browser #so idk if I can fix my dash #and if/when this update hits the app too AMD I cancel ad free it’ll be completely unusable #@staff #are you in so much debt that you’re intentionally trying to blow up the site? is that what’s going on?#because you know we’re a petty spiteful user base and won’t give you a dime if this goes on #so what’s the plan here?#tumblr update #dashboard update #badges

as I am replaying origins -- a game which, to be clear, I love very VERY much -- I can't help but feel that people do don the rose coloured glasses on it a bit specifically when it comes to the range of dialogue options you're actually given to work with at any given time (something I've seen my fair share of silent vs. voiced protagonist discourse about over the years *smokes tired cigarette in survivor of a decade of DA tumblr*). like... there are a couple of situations where you're given a decent range of responses, but the vast majority of the time you have about three dialogue options, and often they're presented sort of like 'polite/bland/unprovoked near-cartoonish levels of assholery'. arranged like, y'know:

I am [BLANK]. It's an honor to make your acquaintance.

You can call me [BLANK].

How dare you speak to me. Fuck you and your family back five generations. I'm going to rob your mother's grave before your eyes.

(sometimes if you're real lucky you get the secret extra 'Something else/I'm bald/but I'm a dwarf!' option)

I'm not at all saying it's worse in that aspect than the other games (Dalish Inquisitor 'Who's Mythal' just entered the chat), but I do think it's worth considering that this might be a bit of a franchise original sin that has been present since the beginning, as indeed it is in most rpgs because making rpgs is real hard, and you notice it more with the dialogue wheel format than when the responses and questions you can ask are all laid out in a list together

#sometimes you also have 'sane and relatively polite' and then two different flavours of cartoonish assholery haha #or 'three barely rephrased versions of the same sentiment'. listen. It's hard to make a game sometimes you just need to get the player #through to the next part of the conversation I understand that perfectly haha #dragon age #I personally like the clarity the dialogue wheel gives you as to what is a question that'll loop you back #to uh the trunk of the conversation tree as it were and what responses move the conversation along and make those unavailable #you basically just have to feel the vibe on that in origins sometimes and it stresses me out even now #(also nice to know when you've flirted with a companion it's always sad to ninjamance someone and then have to crush their dreams lol)#but I absolutely see how some people might prefer the list layout and see the whole line their character will be saying #the dialogue options you get before facing uldred especially are. fucking wild tho #I think they're trying to do a whedonesque deadpan comedy exchange with the crazy guy (which like sure it was a different time)#but especially if you're a mage and just witnessed the devastation of everyone and everything you've ever known... weird vibe!

can't believe this hasn't been said before but unhinged!scarlett and unhinged!dave would be an iconic duo. shame pi didn't get a second season bc these two in an alliance would basically succeed in destroying the island, they'd wipe everyone out

the fact that they're both versions of the nerd character so they're already smart in their own ways, the fact that they have absolutely zero fucks to give anymore, their individual darker sides have come out (whether it was hidden consciously (scarlett) or unconsciously (dave)), and they've each attempted to kill/seriously injure one or more contestant(s) (and mess up the island in the process) just to reach their end goal. imagine if these two found a common goal somehow, literally nothing could get in their paths (except possibly each other)

#these two in an alliance that ends with one or both of them turning on the other would be wild #tbh i know ppl talk abt wishing roti getting a second season but the potential in a second season for pi?? there is so much!!#literally half the dynamics have changed and so have personalities for most of the characters in pi #max and scarlett's dynamic change and their shifts in characters #topher could easily shift from chris lover to chris hater. two extremes!!#he just wants to get chris fired or in pain or smth lmao #dave becoming more competitive and less romantic he turns more heartless (and a bit more reserved and unpredictable)#his heart is there its just v shrouded. and repressed memories dave of the finale!!#he knows smth big happened but the memories of exact details are fuzzy (when that mental curtain is ripped away its gonna be chaos)#amy and sammy's change in dynamics. sammy standing up for herself!!#i wanna say sky would join a second season to get a chance at the money (im a shawn winner truther)#but idk if after all that she'll want to lmao #but skave dynamic total shift if sky comes back!!!#dave doing anything to get her eliminated sky slowly starting to retaliate #it'd be interesting to explore ella and sugar's characters if they've changed or not #evil scarlett who doesnt hide it!!#jashawn ain’t gonna join i think lmao they deserve a nice break plus they split the million so #rodney who is still a romantic but starts to understand the truth of boundaries and the rose colored glasses start to break #(he gets a sexuality revelation when he crushes on one of the guys)#just imagine how wack things would have gone with a second season #the different interactions and alliances and friendships and enemies #and the interactions/dynamics in the first season def would have changed in a second one #this is making me remember the whole layout for a second pi season younger me wrote with new and old contestants #anyway! second season pi was so deserved it would have been wack #noahtally-famous #total drama #td dave #td scarlett #tdpi
