Really fascinated by the focus on base destruction this series? It always happens, but it's normally collateral when they're trying to kill or it's arson.
But this season there's a concerted effort to destroy entire structures. Scott destroying Skizz's meeting room, the bombings of TIES tower, and the complete destruction of Bread Bridge- these aren't normally how things work. Yes griefing and theft are always technically allowed, but they don't normally happen like this.
Imo this is the most escalated this series has been since 3L. People have always been willing to play a bit of murder chicken, but there were multiple times this session where people got very close to killing each other, intentionally, when they aren't supposed to

Question about Frank! What is his fighting style? I know you mentioned he does hand on hand, but does he do any specific form of martial arts?? Or is it just kind of the basic, punching, kicking, ect. Also, does he have some form of magic, or is he basically like Howdy? (I'm just imagining they all play like.. actual table top DnD and Frank is getting irritated because his rolls are garbage-)
i'm not nearly well versed enough in martial arts to name styles or blend them - though i feel a "i need to know everything i can about this" fixation creeping up... so i might be able to provide a better answer later!
but for now lets just say he's adapted his own stylized form, blended from his childhood training, what he learns on the streets, and what he picks up on his travels / figures out himself. i imagine it would be an efficient, ruthless, and elegant personal style of combat
Frank has no magic! if he rolled for it he'd somehow get a 0! he and Howdy are the only magicless maidens of the group

dude with the stink i saw everyone in the comments throwing about cyrus's death i thought the ruling on chromatic orb was what killed him. but it wasn't, it was getting attacked by the giant fucking spider afterwards. and like you can make the argument that "well if the chromatic orb hadn't hit he wouldn't have gone down" like y'all. the party was up against a literal god. "it was unfair blah blah blah" yeah that's the point. when mortals tangle with the gods they lose. the DM had so many tools at her disposal to get the outcome she wanted, one stray hit did not make a difference.

the way storytelling functions in tabletop games strikes me as very rich ground for folklore tellings. the role of teller is already an active one, full of decisions; the same basic story can and will be told wildly differently depending on audience, cultural context, intent, personal outlook, et cetera. i am reminded of angela carter's recollection of her childhood experience with immersive telling: "my maternal grandmother used to say, 'lift up the latch and walk in,' when she told it to me when i was a child; and at the conclusion, when the wolf jumps on little red riding hood and gobbles her up, my grandmother used to pretend to eat me, which made me squeak and gibber with excited pleasure." translating that to the collaborative storytelling format of a role-playing game feels like a return to oral tradition in a lot of ways. life COULD be a dream!

I recently compiled all the RPGs that I have on my computer into a google drive. If anyone wants to peruse, here's the link! I have a bunch of the D&D 5e stuff, as well as a few other systems (including but not limited to Blades in the Dark, 13th Age, and Vampire: The Masquarade 5e). Go forth and have fun :)

I finally got to write formal professional reports again. It's a sort of RFP sort of functional outline. It's not NEARLY as formal as the ones we did in grad school and wouldn't be up to snuff for literally any proper organization, but my workplace does so much stuff slapdash and disorganized and it drives me insane. I am the model of a would-be burecrat. I love paperwork. Forms. Rules. Reports. It needs to be organized if it's going to be EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT.
Anyway for this report I basically got free reign bc no one else knows what I'm talking about or how to do it. And it's just??? Such a relief and a delight to 1) get to do things properly 2) get to be competent, and be SEEN as being comptent, and not just a recent grad bumbling around trying to catch up in a workplace that doesn't follow ANY regular rules or protocols and is just. So disorganized.
Like. Given very little sleep and recovering from mild food poisoning, I've been more productive in 3 hours than I am in a lot of full days. It's like being in school again. Competence. Fully outlined and clear, reasonable goals. A PURPOSE.
I should just be given full control of everything as the benevolent dictator of my department, but alas

As a semi-professional homebrewer, the best advice I can give to get better at homebrewing is to live through a global pandemic just as you were getting into TTRPGs, then use homebrewing as a method of escapism during quarantine and to satisfy your fixation with the game while you don't have a group, so that your understanding of TTRPGs becomes inseparable from tinkering with rules.

Hello Hi! I’m alive and I saw DnD au.
I’m a very big DnD nerd and I want to say a thing!
1: I thought for a moment “no Howdy would be a martial Class” but you are so right, he makes inventions. So cool
2: WARLOCK WALLY WARLOCK WALLY WARLOCK WALLY (from a person who loves Warlocks this fills my heart with glee)
3: I am 5 seconds away from designing homebrew for them/building off actual subclasses for them. I am Actively trying to figure out how to Give Wally the Big House spell (which is an actual spell) bc it fits his vibe.
hello welcome back!
honestly i struggled for a Minute there w/ Howdy's classification cause yeah... four hands made for punching... but then Clown's response to an ask about what each neighbor would do in Splatoon said that Howdy would use some sorta bomb (i don't know the names/terms! i dont play!) so my brain went "ah! ranged attacks!" honestly most of my choices here are based off of that post.... its nice to know the Roles they would all take in battle!
ok im not a huge dnd nerd but like. im guessing 'big house spell' is the magnificent mansion, and isnt that a wizard spell? if you were willing to fuck with boundaries a lil, you could reason that wizard/warlock are juuuuust similar enough that either could use that spell
