absolute hits from the Circle's doctor:
telling a shell-shocked hysterical sailor "this is my operating room, if you're just going to scream, you need to go outside", but "outside" is either the deck of a ship in the middle of a hurricane or the irradiated, partially flooded hold of said ship
advising a woman who is actively on fire to sit down
trying to offer medical assistance to the woman he is stabbing and who is trying to strangle him
telling a man with a knife protruding from his chest to "chill"

someone questioned Leigh Bardugo at a BOOK Q&A what the “justification” is for “white authors writing rep for bipoc people and taking space from bipoc authors without advocating for them” unprovoked, and when Leigh looked confused and gently asked for clarification, this person said “well i mean with what’s happening in palestine” because Leigh hasn’t publicly commented on it. why the fuck are we now harassing jewish authors about palestine and making it out like we’re being heroes for bipoc as a whole? if you’re gonna be antisemitic do it with your fucking chest.
Leigh’s answer was “i realized after posting misinformation on instagram a while ago that I wasn’t focusing on actually being a good person and activist irl and was just performing for an audience so i stopped being political on main” and the audience was silent.

i was never really a bandom person, i think i mightve just been too young since i was only middle school age by the time death of a bachelor came out and MCR had already broken up by the time i was listening to them i just missed the boat by a couple years but i was always peripherally aware of the shipping and drama etc and since i was so removed from it i only ever saw like. the lowest common denominator of fetishistic conspiracy theorists and art at the time so i kind of just Assumed none of that was really happening....but ofc now while i wouldnt say im well versed in any of it, ive seen the evidence presented by people who Were in the trenches specifically for ryan ross and brendon urie and a little bit for a couple other big bandom bands that i find adequately convincing that there was in fact obviously relations happening behind the scenes. and idk i dont really have a point here im just so fascinated by these queer relationships that were There but were so desperately being hidden and yet their audiences could see them anyway. these young queer people that may or may not have even known they were queer themselves when sniffing out those relationships and they just would not let them hide. like most of the people involved to this day have never acknowledged it but Everyone Saw It Anyway. like i said i dont particularly have a point its just so fascinating to me. what must that do to a relationship; to be trying so hard to hide it while also feeling some of the most intense feelings you ever will and even though youre hiding it for privacy career label reasons They Can See It Anyway (and theyre weird about it)

Hrghggh I want this book but can only find the ugly cover version anywhere to buy, usually wouldn't be a problem if I was getting a better deal, but I just really dislike this one for some reason and can't find the good cover I know for a fact exists anywhere

I think the Ang issue is not even fandom drama, at it’s core. It’s more an indictment of the failure of the American medical system. A disabled, mentally ill person should have access to medical care and mental health support, even if they’re drawing dubious art, even if they’re unemployed, even if they’re hurtful/dangerous people, as people involved in this are alleged to be.
They shouldn’t be left to just fester online, become more ill/erratic and just hurt each other over and over and over, on discord, in fandom, in all these spaces that we just see as petty or trivial.
We need something better. Fandom isn’t the issue. Lack of support and care irl for vulnerable people is the core of it.
I dunno man. I’m just sad about everyone in this situation. Nobody happy and healthy would do any of this.
oh i agree completely! i think people even saying fandom is a big part of it are missing the point a little, all this happened because of personal issues between friends who couldnt leave it. but that alone wouldnt have caused what happened to happen if there was better medical care and easier access to affordable treatment without a source of income/health insurance.
ultimately the issue is far bigger than any one part of it, it was a bunch of moving parts. but fandom was just a weapon, nothing more than that. the core is a shit health care system that leaves disabled and chronically ill patients to suffer and die.
