Thoughts I had during TGCF S2 Ep 8
Starting this week, I’ll be finishing my TGCF S2 Reactions!
Now here we go!
Previously on TGCF…
-That’s a lot of Orcs
-Man, I’m surprised none of Qi Rong’s lackeys are noticing disguised!Xie Lian and Hua Cheng and are like, “What?  I don’t remember the boss hiring ghosts more eye catching than we are.”
-“Oh?  Would you like me to do that?”  That delivery was awesome and it got Xie Lian adorably flustered!
-They have fangs!
-XL, you stopped two guys in a sword fight in Ep 5 you’ll still come out on top
-That’s the only quality he respects
-They’re still blending in
-That’s a lot of humans
Tumblr media
-Baby Guzi!!!
-A new disguise!!!
-He’s returned
-Xie Lian looks great as a mortal in disguise
-There’s like 20 of them
-I’m surprised another lackey is noticing disguised Xie Lian and San Lang at the end of line and says, “Hey, I don’t remember capturing those last two.  Shouldn’t we tie ‘em up with the other humans?” And then the other ghost just goes “Nah, our king we’ll be pleased with two more for his feast.”
-That creepy odd flute music
-Aw baby Guzi
-Whoever did this track, props
Tumblr media
-He touched his hand!!!
-He’s writing hanzi!
-San Lang understood!
-San Lang’s still savoring the touch!
-Now San Lang has a message too!
-In other words he just wrote, “Heads up”
-*Content Warning for Accidental and unintentional Cannibalism*
-Gross
-That ain’t meat jerky
-Thank you San Lang
-That music keeps getting creepier as they travel deeper
-His throne room
-Ugh that ain’t chili
-San Lang’s enraged!
-That Xie Lian statue
-Oh no that statue was beaten in the past!
-They took their anger out on a young man who tried to help
-And here he is!
-He knows him
-That green oni mask
-Thank you Hua Cheng and E Ming!
-Aand there’s a backup chorus
-I think ‘Murderize’ disappointed every English Major watching this Episode
-Thank you Pei Xiu!
-I think he just wanted to be left in peace
-My eyes widened as Qi Rong swore like a really bad sailor
-Gross Qi Rong, that’s disgusting this guy’s officially worse than Koh the face stealer
-Man, I don’t think we’ve heard Feng Xin swear a lot until the previous episode
-San Lang’s controlling his anger
-I wouldn’t want to be massaged by ancient Chinese orcs
-Xuan Ji got mentioned
-It’s official, Qi Rong supports Women’s wrongs
-RIP Xiao Ying, Pengtou not so much
-Qi Rong roasted the heck outta almost every Heavenly Official shown so far in the series
-I think Hua Cheng’s already better than Qi Rong
-He’s trying to cause drama between the martial gods
-His legs are propped up on Stone!XL’s bowing head
-The Dragon floor relief
-‘Pei Fling’’s an accurate nickname
-That one orc selecting a new human: Eenie, meanie, meinie, That guy
-Oh no Baby Guzi!
-Nyoom! Gotta go fast! - Basically Hua Cheng
-Literally the lackey that focused on XL and HC: I told you we should’ve tied those two guys back with the others! (This quote was inspired by one of Catwoman’s Henchmen in a cold opening of an episode in Batman: The Brave and the Bold and that same henchman said, “I told you we should’ve taken his utility belt!”)
-He caught the statue!
-And the statue’s gently placed on the ground
-Doll!Qianqiu moved!
-They’ve got more cave trolls!
-His eyes glowed
-Gotta go fast again!
-His head’s in an iron grip!
-Dang, literally 0 seconds after Qi Rong asked for help and got faceplanted into the ground by Hua Cheng sent all of his armed lackeys fleeing into the cave.  Dude really has the dumbest henchmen in the series
-Guzi’s Dad’s last action of selflessness was protecting his own son
-XL saved Baby Guzi!
-You gotta love Bad Cop!Hua Cheng
Tumblr media
-Parental Xie Lian!
-Dude if I were you I’d keep the kid with me at all times, not that I want to be a parent whatsoever
-Move over MCU Loki
-Qi Rong low key has the same pathetic energy as Prince John did in Disney’s Robin Hood
-“And then there’s me.  Smiling, as I end your damn life!” Preach Hua Cheng
-Right in front of his own statue
Tumblr media
-There goes the Oni Mask
-Ugh purple lipstick and Xie Lian had better cosmetics in S1 EPs 1-3
8 down! 4 Eps left to go!

Translating KBO Articles for Vocabulary and Grammar
Today we will be going through 송경모 기자's article and translating it. We will also find some key vocabulary, today's theme is baseball terms specifically, and some important grammar points!
Tomorrow I will be selecting 1 paragraph to do a sentence by sentence complete breakdown as well as sharing my notes over the full article to show how I tranlate.

위- place (1st/2nd/-- place)
연전- continuous games
Grammar
며- used to say two actions or situations are happening simultaneously
없이- used with a noun before it to say "without ---"
During the weekend the Samsung Lions returned their winning rate to 40% & started to escape last place. 9th place Kiwoom Heroes, who lost the nation's ace to the LG Twins in a trade, finished 3 games with no wins and their head low.
Vocabulary
대- score counter
승리- win
점- run
이닝- inning
실점- lose a point/run, allow a run
호투- good pitch
승- win counter
무- draw counter
격차- a gap between
Grammar
면서- used to say two actions or situations are happening simultaneously (same as 며)
On the 30th in the Seoul Gocheok Skydome Samsung won 10-6 in the game against Kiwoom. Veteran Park Jeong Hyein responds to the cohesiveness of the driven batters who scored 9 runs early in the game, with 2 runs while completing a winning series with 2 wins and 1 draw. Through the 3 games, the gap between the teams decreased.
Vocabulary
제구- poor ball control
사- out counter
기습번트- sudden bunt
사구- walk
볼넷- walk (based on balls)
번- number/place counter
급기야-after all/ at least
Grammar

아/어- there are many uses to having 아/어 in the middle of a sentence, here it is used to show a reason or cause of a situation stated after
Kiwoom's Jang Jae Yeong gets himself in trouble with his chronic poor ball control while the team's early showdown comes to an end. After one out Kim Seong Yoon's sudden bunt was the seed that allowed a great deal of runs. Jang Jae Yeong, who allowed one walk based on hitting a player and 4 walks based on balls in a row then hit Kim Ji Chan in the head, was automatically sent off.
Vocabulary
타점- run
회- inning counter
타자일손- to go through the full lineup
불붙- fire
루타- base counter
우전- right side
적시타- timely hit
상대- opponent
Grammar
마저- used to say "even if __ happens/ exists ___ still ___"
에도- used to mean "as well in/during __"
Even when Ha Yeong Min quickly came to the mound Kim Hyeon Jun hit a 2-run hit and Kiwoom allowed the whole line up to bat and 6 runs in only the first inning. Samsung's lineup's fire didn't stop even in the 2nd inning. Ryu Ji Hyeok's right-handed hit with Kang Han Wul's 3-base run and the opponent's mistake caused 3 more runs.
Vocabulary
위기관리 능력- crisis management skills
더 이상- more, 이상 is often used to say beyond a said amount.
승부- match, game
패- loss
On the mound Park Jeong Hyeon steadily got runners out but with their crisis management Kiwoom stopped their scoreless run. In the 6th inning, Kiwoom recovered 2 runs, and under the cover of/using Samsung's bullpen turmoil they got 4 more runs but there was no more to chase. Samsung, who through the previous day's win of 7-2 repaired their win rate to 40%, found a win this day ending July's 18 games with 9 wins, 1 draw, and 8 losses.
Vocabulary
타율- batting rate
안타- hit
This is the first time since last April that the monthly win rate turned to 50%. It was the will and power of the batters that lead the hype. From the previous day, Samsung's team's monthly batting rate of .289 moved them to 1st in the league. On this day as well everyone, excluding Kim Ji Chan, recorded a hit.
Vocabulary
멀티 히트- multi hit
득점- run, based on the runner on the bases
타점- run, based on the batter bringing runners home (RBI)
Grammar
만- used to say "only __"
Kim Seong Yoon, Kang Min Ho, and Kang Han Wul exploded with multiple hits, and Lee Jeok Sang and Ryu Ji Hyeok also got 2 runs and 2 RBI. Only the bullpen weakness was not solved on this day. After Park Jeong Hyeon Kim Tae Hoon, who overcame crisis in the 6th inning with one ball, only after 2 outs in the 7th inning, got 4 batters out in a row bringing their own demise.
Vocabulary
필승조- must/ fierce winner
평균자책점- ERA
기울어진 승부- slanted game
Grammar
대가를 톡톡히 치렀다- a phrase that literally means "to pay the cost/ price" However similar to the English phrase it means to suffer the consequences of an action
고도- this is used to add a new phrase tied closely with the first phrase. It does not have to be contradictory, here when they say "결과적으로 여유 있게 이기고도 남을 경기에 필승조 우규민까지 투입됐다." it can be translated to "even though they were winning" or "while they were winning with ease".
Even though they are winning with ease at the end of the game they put in fierce winner Wu Gyu Min. Kiwoom, who sent LG Choi Won Tae who has a 6-4 win ratio and 3.25 ERA, paid the price. In the previous 2 games, the starting pitcher was taken out early which was the flow that lead to the stream of losses. On the contrary, the batters including Lee Ju Hyeon hit 12 hits, however, this wasn't enough to reverse the early tilted game.

The Eighth Sense Eps 3 & 4 Stray Thoughts
Last time, we all lost our minds at the inherent queerness of this show, and how distinct it feels in the world of BL. We met Ji Hyun, a new resident of Seoul from the countryside who recently started school, and Jae Won, a senior returning from military service and son of a wealthy family. Ji Hyun is struggling with city life, and Jae Won is struggling with everyone's expectations of him. These two met and felt instantly drawn to each other, and are now engaged in intricate rituals in the surfing club. We left them on the beach before what felt like a kiss.
Episode 3
Okay so it was a kiss! That was not tentative at all.
Oh, I'm not a fan of pressuring new members to binge drink. Relieved others are pushing back, but still it's gross.
Why is Ji Hyun being brave about the drink? Is it to distract himself from the kiss and abrupt separation? Is it to end the tension of the moment and save the girls? Is he getting drunk enough to be taken care of by Jae Won?
This dude is so annoying every time he gets drunk. Tae Hyung definitely wants to fuck Jae Won, and it's embarrassing.
Ah, of course Jae Won has built up a history of getting drunk and kissing people. He needed to build that mask.
Hey, that was a beautiful shot of the beach.
Not a fan of Ji Hyun potentially going out into the water alone, but it is intriguing that he tried to suit up on his own in maybe the wrong size. He's not comfortable anymore.
Oh, Jae Won. You can't just ignore the boy like this. This is also unfortunately familiar.
I have questions about the person running a bar in Korea that can't understand enough Korean to take orders.
I get Jae Won feeling more comfortable with Yoon Won after all this time because she feels grounded.
Jae Won, you can't smile fondly at his art after ignoring him!
Damn, the freshmen just casually clocking Yoon Won as a lesbian.
There's a lot of drinking in this show.
I don't think the roommate's assessment is totally off. If Jae Won is signalling that he doesn't want to interact with Ji Hyun anymore, it's probably best to just let it go. Does beg whether Ji Hyun knows he's queer.
If Ji Hyun doesn't want this girl to attach to him too much, it would be ideal to introduce her to the definitely straight friend.
I like Joon Pyo.
Oh, I like experiencing the therapy session through the distorted reflection
I love the bar owner. Ji Hyun definitely needs encouragement.
Here Jae Won goes with the meaningful looks again. Not sure how I want to read them having an interaction right after a therapy session.
I liked this episode. I like Ji Hyun taking his angst and confusion in stride. I also like how many people encourage him.
Episode 4
Gosh, seeing these two recognize that there's something special about just being near each other in silence is just...wow.
Wonder what changed for Hae? Is it because it's night time. Don't send me back to my beauty in the dark phase.
I like Jae Won learning how to draw. It's really sweet to see them learning the other's passion. We also get to see Ji Hyun smile and laugh.
"Do you want to eat ramen with me?" *I understood that reference.*
Again the tension between these two when Jae Won adjusts Ji Hyun's bag. These two are delivering.
I love Ji Hyun's briefcase. I hope there isn't a plot point involving it going missing.
I'm obsessed with Ae Ri. She looked at Jae Won and Ji Hyun and was like, "Ah, gays," and immediately covered for Ji Hyun. Then, she goes on to show Ji Hyun how obvious things appear, and to keep his wits about him, before making clear she does not desire him. I hope she gets everything she wants.
Here these dudes go again meddling in Jae Won's affairs with Eun Ji.
If Eun Ji does something cruel to these boys because she saw them bonding in the stacks....
I'm not a therapist, nor have I been in much therapy, but it feels like Jae Won can be honest with his.
Here Eun Ji goes being mean to Ji Hyun.
Oh my goodness. That was a low-key read. "I didn't say you broke it intentionally. But if you broke it, is it that hard to apologize to the person fixing it?" She doesn't know why this girl is bullying Ji Hyun, but she is not going to let it slide.
A pinky brush into hand holding? We stay winning.
"A beer in your dorm room. Aren't we moving too fast?" Sir, you kissed and then avoided him!
I no longer like Joon Pyo. We had everything. A hand on a leg, a secret romantic desire expressed, and a lean in for a kiss. Then he runs in to spoil the moment!
I'm really glad they give us two episodes a week. I'd have been really frustrated to only get episode 3 with Jae Won avoiding him only to end on the subway would have been annoying. Instead we're seeing this support network grow around Ji Hyun and the obvious relationship blossoming between these two. I'm curious to learn about this secret desire Jae Won is afraid to voice.

Side Knee Kick
Hello! Welcome to another tutorial from Ji Yeonwoo’s Kyokushin blog! Today, I’m going to show you one very easy and effective low kick for beginners. With the knowledge of it, you can gain some advantages in street fights! It is called Sokuto Kansetsu Geri (but Sokuto Geri or Kansetsu Geri are also okay).
Sokuto means the blade of the foot. Kansetsu means the joint. Geri means kick.
Before we start our tutorial, I want to mention this post from Taehoon. He taught us the Taekwondo version of Side Kick. If you are already familiar with the technique, this lesson will be a piece of cake! If not, don’t worry! I have everything prepared for you, dear practitioners! (^ω~)
First of all, I will explain the effectiveness of knee kicks in street fights. Knees are often neglected by fighters because they mostly focus on hitting the upper body. In reality, my Sensei said that hitting the knee could be the first step to win a fight, as your opponent will lose balance, buying you a few seconds to finish them off.
☀️ Taehoon’s note 1: In MMA, the knee kicks are as dangerous as the calf kicks. They have many variations. For example, the Inward Knee Heel Stomp, the Back Knee Hook, or the Side Knee Kick.
Second of all, where do we hit the knee? The targets are directly on the knee joint, or a little above the knee, or on the side of the knee, or at the back of the knee. For safety reasons, I only kick at the back of the knee.
Warning: Karate’s Side Knee Kick can be dangerous if it’s done correctly. It may cause knee injuries! Therefore, it is prohibited in Kumite.
Let’s start with the foot and toes positions!
Tumblr media
As you can see, we will use the side of the foot to cause damage. It’s okay if you cannot do like this. But ideally, your big toe points up, smaller toes points down.
Step 1: Preparation…
Tumblr media
First, you stand in a relaxed position. Ideally, both feet are at shoulder-length. It’s crucial to be comfortable and to maintain stability.
Step 2: Raise your leg…
Tumblr media
Second, you raise the leg, turn the hips and the standing leg. At the same time, your arms should protect your upper body.
Step 3: And kick!
Tumblr media
Third, you extend the leg and kick down at the opponent’s knee joint.
Step 4: Return to your initial position.
Finally, you retract your leg to step 2 and drop it to the ground, like step 1.
☀️ Taehoon’s note 2: In a fight, the element of surprise is important. That’s the purpose of this kick, isn’t it? To knock them off guard? My advice to y’all, since it’s essentially the same as Taekwondo’s Yeop Chagi: before kicking, don’t look down! They’ll know your intentions and go for a leg block or a lower hand block.
I agree with Taehoon. He is always right. To kick more strongly, the key is to practise, practise and practise, until you become very comfortable with it. Alternatively, the leg can be raised higher to kick at the groin.
That is all for today’s lesson! Credits go to my Sensei, my friend @taehoon-taekwondo and artist @sillypippy 🙇🏻🥋
See you next time! Bye bye!

Tumblr media
-
You looked out of your classroom’s window; This class was taking too long and you were hungry enough not to focus on it anymore.
You looked at the people who were sitting in the garden, either enjoying their free period or skipping classes.
Among them, you spotted Felix, your classmate, with his group of friends, laughing at something one of them said.
Their group was pretty popular at your university, they were known to be quite friendly, handsome, athletic, and good students, and you wouldn’t be joking if you said that more than half of the university would die to date them.
You only knew Felix for sharing some classes with you and once, you were paired up to do a project together and, to be honest, it was a lot of fun and you enjoyed doing the project with him even though you barely knew each other.
Suddenly, the sound of the loud alarm indicating that the class was over interrupted your thoughts.
You jumped from your seat and, quickly, picked up all your things. You were starving and you wasted no time in texting your friend to meet you at your favorite ramen place so you could eat together.
-
“Text me once you arrive home.” Your friend told you.
“I will.” After you said goodbye to your friend, you headed to your dorm, but what you didn’t expect when you arrived there was to find one of Felix’s friends waiting in front of your door.
You frowned and checked the floor and the door number, thinking that maybe, you got off the wrong floor, but indeed, this was your dorm.
“Excuse me.” You said, trying to catch the boy’s attention.
He turned around and seemed surprised to see you there like he wasn't expecting you to appear at all.
"Do you need anything?" You asked.
He opened his mouth, finding the correct words until he finally decided to introduce himself.
"Yeah, hi! I'm Han Jisung, I live a couple of doors from here." He said, pointing with his thumb to the left, where his dorm was. "Also, I'm Felix's friend, you know him, right?"
You nodded quietly surprised to hear that he was your neighbor.
“I wanted to talk to you about something.” He said with a shy smile. “Do you wanna go for a walk meanwhile?
You looked at him and you squinted your eyes.
Why would he suddenly want to go for a walk with you?
“Actually, It’s kinda late you know...” You said, looking for your keys.
“Y/N, please! I really need your help!” He begged, holding your hands in his. “I just... I really fucked up and I know we barely know each other but... I’ll do whatever you want to just please, help me!”
Taken aback by his behavior, you looked around in case someone was watching you and you sighed.
You opened the front door of your dorm and offered him to enter.
“Okay so...” You started saying but you were interrupted by Jisung.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” He suddenly asked, making you choke on your saliva.
“WHAT?”
“It doesn’t have to be real! Like, you can be my fake girlfriend, you know?” He said nervously.
“And why on the earth would you want to have a fake girlfriend?!” You asked confused.
Jisung blushed slightly and looked at his feet. “I told my friends I had a girlfriend so they now want to meet her.” He explained but for the look from your face he understood that you needed much more explanation. “It scaled so quickly, they were saying that I’m a chicken and I couldn’t ask a girl out and I told them I had a girlfriend just to shut their mouths but I didn’t think of the consequences.” He said.
You stayed in silence, examining his face. “I see...”
Suddenly, the ringing of your phone startled the both of you.
“Shitshitshit.” You said when you saw it was your friend Sohye the one calling you.
“Sorry! Sorry, sorry I totally forgot to text you, I’m already at home.” You said after you picked it up.
“You scared me dickhead!” Your friend yelled at you.
“I’m sorry, something came up and I totally forgot.”
“Is everything okay?” Sohye asked.
“Yeah, don’t worry, see you tomorrow?”
“Yeah, oh! And don’t forget I have a really important exam tomorrow, I won’t be able to eat lunch with you.” She said.
“Yeah, yeah, good night.”
“Good night y/n.”
You hung up and looked at Jisung.
“Don’t tell me it was your boyfriend?! Or girlfriend?! Oh my God, I’m so sorry, I should have asked you first.” He said, covering his mouth with his hands.
You giggled and shook your head. “It was my friend and don’t worry, I don’t have a partner.” You informed.
“Ok, so...” He said.
“What do I get in return?” You asked.
He seemed to be relieved that you didn’t say no, but that didn’t mean that you would say yes either.
“I can treat you to food every time we’re together.” He asked.
Ouch.
That was such a good offer.
“Deal.” You said, shaking hands with Jisung.
You spent the night discussing your “relationship”, how you two met, where, who confessed first... But of course, you also set some rules; The skinship and PDA were exclusively reserved for when the boys were around, no touching and of course, he wouldn’t brag about you doing “the dirty” because you would not only tell his friends everything was a lie, but you would also slap him in the face.
“Okay so long story short, we know each other because we are neighbors, one day I asked you out and after a few more dates I officially asked you to be my girlfriend but we never said anything because you wanted to keep it low.” Jisung recapitulated.
“We’ve been dating for five months now, don’t forget about it.” You added.
“Oh yeah, true.”
“And we will break up in two months.” You added again.
“Yeah, I remember that as well but there’s no need to tell them that.” Jisung giggled
-
“Hey, baby.” A voice behind you said, startling you.
You turned around and saw Jisung with a big smile.
The boy pecked your lips softly then he took your backpack and hung it on his shoulder, placing his other hand on your lower back, guiding you to the table where his friends were.
You could feel the looks of disbelief, not only from Jisung's friends but from all the people who were there, on you, making you feel uncomfortable.
“Hey guys, this is Y/N, my girlfriend.” Jisung’s friends looked at you in astonishment while Jisung introduced them to you.
Felix frowned his eyebrows looking at both of them.
You found quite funny his reaction, he seemed to be confused.
“You’re dating Y/L/N Y/N?” He asked.
“Yeah,” Jisung said and smiled at you, sitting down next to you.
“Since when?” He asked again.
“We’ve been dating for five months already but I asked him not to say anything, I wanted to keep it low for a while, sorry.” You said with a shy smile.
You really wanted to pat yourself on the back right now, you never knew you were such a great actor.
“No, it’s okay... we understand.” Chan said with a soft smile.
“How much did he pay you?” One of them asked you.
“Minho hyung!” Jisung complained.
You couldn’t help but laugh but you weren’t really sure if it was because his question was kinda funny, the fact that he actually was paying you with food or just because you were really nervous.
The rest of the guys laughed as well, even though he sounded quite serious when he asked you, they all seemed to take it as a joke.
“Ji, I’m hungry.” You said looking at him with puppy eyes but indicating him you wanted your part of the deal.
He was surprised to hear you call him by a nickname, but he didn’t show that, instead he smiled at you and asked you to choose whatever you wanted on the menu and kissed your temple.
“Bro I still can’t process this shit.” Felix said.
“Yeah same, I was waiting for him to tell us he was lying.” Seungmin commented.
“I’m so happy he’s not staying virgin forever.” Changbin added, proudly.
“Can you guys not talk like I wasn’t here?” Jisung said, embarrassed.
After eating and chatting for a while with Jisung and his friends, you decided it was time to you to go back to your dorms to study.
-
It was around 11 pm when you heard someone pounding the door.
Scared, you approached the door and suddenly, you heard Sohye’s voice.
“Y/n open the door right now! I know you’re in there!” She yelled.
Confused, you opened the front door and she stormed inside your apartment.
“Can you dare to explain to me why is the whole university calling you “Jisung’s new girlfriend”?” She asked, looking at you in disbelief.
You sighed and sat on the sofa, closing your eyes and massaging your temples.
Of course, this was one of the biggest cons of dating Han Jisung (or any of his friends actually), the whole university would gossip about it.
You looked at your friend and you made a gesture for her to sit next to you.
“Well? Are you dating Han Jisung, y/n?” She said.
You sighed again.
Should you play along and tell her all the gossips and rumors were true or should you tell her the truth?
“Yes.”
You bit your lip, feeling guilty seeing her hurtful expression.
“What? Since when?” She asked, in a low voice.
“For five months now.” You replied.
“Why haven’t you told me anything?” She said.
You were feeling even more guilty now, you and Sohye always tell each other everything.
“Look y/n, I’m not mad, I know you must have your rea-
“We’re not dating.” You interrupted her, making her look at you confused.
“I’m so confused right now.”
You started to explain everything, from how Jisung asked you if you could be his fake girlfriend to your last conversation with his friends.
“Wow... I’m glad you trusted me and told me everything.” She smiled. “Well, if you ever need help with anything you know who to call.”
-
You were currently in Chan and Changbin’s apartment for a movie night.
It’s been almost two weeks since you and Jisung made “your relationship” public and it seemed like the boys didn’t suspect a thing.
“Baby hey, come here.” You were in the kitchen with Chan and Jeongin making the popcorns, when you arrived to the living room, where the rest of the boys were, your boyfriend called you, patting his lap, indicating you to sit on his lap.
You stopped your tracks and looked at him narrowing your eyes, with the bowl of popcorns still in your hands, you wanted to tell him that in a million years your would sit on his lap but since the boys were there, you ended up agreeing.
Jisung placed his arm around your waist and his other hand rested on your thigh.
You observed all his movements carefully and rolled your eyes when he asked you to feed him with popcorns. You filled his mouth with a handful of popcorn and giggled seeing him happily munching the popcorns, it reminded you to a little squirrel.
“Okay lovebirds, let’s start the movie.” Minho said.
-
Seungmin looked to his left since he couldn't stop hearing whispers but turned his attention back to the movie with a disgusted face seeing you and Jisung acting all lovely-dovey.
On the outside, it seemed like you guys were just innocently flirting but the reality was far from there...
Not an hour had passed since the movie started and you were already sick of Jisung not stopping moving.
“Can you stop, like, for five fucking seconds, Jisung?!” You whispered.
“Sorry! This movie is too boring I think I'm going to die of boredom.” He whispered back.
You stayed silent for a few seconds before he opened his mouth again.
“Should we make out?” He asked, tucking a few strands of your hair behind your ear. You felt your heartbeat strongly against your chest and your cheeks and ears burn
“W-what? No! I’m not gonna make out with you! Much less if your friends are here!” You said, flustered.
“But that’s the point Y/N! They never saw us kissing.” He said and you looked at him incredulously. “Those weren’t kisses! they were innocents pecks.” He said.
He had a point there, you just pecked his lips in front of his friends.
Also, it’s been a long time since the last time you actually kissed someone.
And Jisung was your “boyfriend”.
And this movie was, indeed, boring.
“It’s okay Y/N, I won’t force you to do something you don’t want to, I already made you sit on my lap.” He said but before thinking it twice, you cupped his face and you brought your lips together.
You caught him by surprise but quickly, he recomposed himself and he tightened his grip on you, leaning even closer to you, stealing your breath away.
Even though there were seven more people in the room, it felt like it was just you and him. His lips were soft and warm and his grip on your thigh, slowly caressing you, wasn’t helping at all.
You break away a few seconds but soon, he pulled you back to him.
You moved your hands from his face to his nape and you caressed the strands of his hair, making him hum against your lips softly.
“Hey! Get a room!” Hyunjin shouted at you two, making you break apart quickly.
You bit your lips, feeling your cheeks burn for the second time that night and looked with the corner of your eye at Jisung, who was also blushing.
“Should we change the movie? This one is kinda boring, don’t you think? Chan asked and you all agreed.
The boys played another movie that it was to Jisung's liking, since he barely moved this time.
You leaned your head against Jisung’s chest and hearing his heartbeat, slowly, you fell into a deep sleep.
Jisung’s P.O.V
Jisung couldn’t stop thinking about that kiss.
At first, he said it as a joke. In these two weeks he has learned about you more than he would like to admit, he knew you get flustered easily and he actually enjoys to fluster you but he didn’t expect you to kiss him that way at all.
And now you were peacefully sleeping on his chest.
Slowly, he started patting your head and giggled softly when you hummed in your sleep.
At that moment he felt a sensation in his chest he couldn’t describe, the only thing he could say was that it felt right, that moment, right there, felt just right.
-
A few days later, after your class was finished, Felix approached you.
“Hey y/n!” He said with a bright smile.
“Oh! Hey Lix, what’s up?” You asked, smiling him back.
“I was wondering if you could help me to study for the incoming exam?” He asked. “I’ve been struggling with this subject for a while now and I thought that, maybe, since it’s our last exam, it would help if I studied with you since you’re quite great at this subject.”
“As long as Jisung is fine with it, of course.” He added.
“Yeah, of course! And don’t worry about Jisung, he won’t mind.” You smiled.
“Oh! Thank you so much, you’re saving my life right now.” He hugged you, making you laugh.
“I was going to go to this cafeteria and study there, wanna come?” You asked.
“Sure! I’m craving some bubble tea as well.”
After a few hours later, you guys decided to call it a day.
“This is what I call a productive day.” Felix said and you agreed.
For the rest of the week, Felix and you had constant study sessions after your classes so it was difficult to hang out with the rest of the guys.
Suddenly, the image of Jisung popped in your head.
He’s been asking you to meet him, at least to have lunch with the boys but you always declined his offers.
He thought you were being a little harsh on yourself, Felix who has the same exam as you, spends his lunch with them, while you just bought a sandwich or whatever you felt like and went back to your dorm yet he was understanding and told you you would meet once your exams were finished.
You smiled at the thought.
In this whole month you’ve been “dating” Jisung, you’ve found out what an amazing person he actually is.
He loves to make people smile, he makes people laugh without even trying, he’s considerate and, even if you wouldn’t admit it out loud, he’s a great boyfriend and his future partner will be lucky to have him in his life.
A loud sigh left your lips and you shook your head.
You needed to concentrate and go back to your book.
Not so long after, a knock on your door drew your attention.
You looked at your clock.
23:02 pm
“Who in the hell is it at this hour?” You asked yourself.
Opening your front door, you were surprised to see Jisung with a big smile in front of you.
“Jisung? What are you doing here?” You asked confused, moving to your side, allowing him to come inside your dorm.
“I didn’t see you at the cafeteria today so I thought that, maybe, you skipped your meals and since that’s not very healthy, I decided to buy some of your favorite ramen.” He said, placing a bag on your table and flicking at your forehead.
“Ouch.” You whimpered.
You felt your cheeks gain a light pinkish color and a little smile was drawn on your face.
That was very nice of him actually.
Indeed, you skipped your meals today, you felt really stressed today and you even canceled you study session with Felix. Your dorm was a mess and you weren’t any better, to be honest.
“Thank you.” You muttered feeling suddenly shy.
“No problem baby, I bought some for me as well, so I could keep your company, I hope you don’t mind.” He said.
“On the contrary.” You smiled, picking up two pairs of chopsticks and some water.
You sat together and started eating together.
A moan left your lips when you munched your food.
It tasted like heaven.
“Don’t skip your meals again, do you hear me?” Jisung warned you. “It’s not good for your health.”
“Sorry, I don’t usually skip my meals but this exam is going to kill me I swear.”
You keep talking about some trivial things, laughing every now or then about some anecdotes Jisung told you about.
“Anyways, it’s kinda late already and I don’t want to distract you anymore.” He said looking at his phone.
It was almost midnight now and even though you were having a great time with him, you really needed to pass this exam.
“Let me walk you to the door.” You said, getting up and leaning against the door frame once you arrived there, just like the boy did.
You and Jisung stared at each other in complete silence, a very comfortable silence.
You examined his face, you never noticed before but Han Jisung was handsome. His eyes were big and very roundish, and the dark brown of his irises was captivating.
Your sight fell on his lips and you suddenly felt your heart skip a beat.
You suddenly felt your face heat up and you looked into his eyes again, trying to avoid something you could regret in the future, but it didn’t help at all as your pulse sped up when you noticed Jisung looking at your lips.
You wanted to say something, to do something, but your body didn’t want to move and it wasn’t until Jisung made eye contact with you again when your body finally responded.
“I have to go.” He said. “Don’t skip your meals, okay?” He warned again, ruffling your hair.
“I won’t.” You said, giving him a small smile.
-
It was Saturday night, and again, Changbin and Chan invited you all to their apartment to celebrate you and Felix finally finished your exams.
You were sitting between Jisung’s legs, your back against his chest, while his chin rested on the top of your head.
He had you wrapped around his arms and refused to let you go, saying that you’ve been too busy studying for your exam that you barely saw each other, which was actually true since it was your last exam of the semester you and Felix spent your days glued to your books and notes.
“So how did that exam go?” Chan asked.
“Actually great, I had the best teacher.” Felix complimented you.
You giggled. “I didn’t do anything Felix, you-.” But before you could finish your sentence, Jisung interrupted you.
“Wait, you guys studied together?” He asked, unwrapping his arms from around you.
“Yeah, I thought y/n told you?” Felix said, 7 pairs of eyes now focusing on you both.
You turned your head to look at Jisung, making eye contact with him. “All this time, you’ve been studying together? Why didn’t you say anything?” He asked you, with an annoyed look on his face.
You looked at him speechless. Why was he acting like that?
Jisung scoffed at your loss of words, getting up from his spot on the floor.
“Jisung mate, calm down, we-” Felix was saying but, again, Jisung interrupted him.
“Y/n, can I talk to you for a second?” He said, pointing at the front door behind his back.
You nodded confused as to why he was acting like that and followed him in silence until you two were alone.
“Why didn’t you tell me you and Felix have been studying together?!” He asked you, irritated.
“Oh God Jisung, why are you acting like this? It’s not that deep.” You said, crossing your arms on your chest, rolling your eyes.
“Not that deep?! Not telling your boyfriend you’re hanging out with other guys is not that deep?!” He yelled.
“Did you forget that you’re NOT my real boyfriend?” You whispered harshly, pressing your index finger on his chest.
Anger started to boil inside of you. What’s gotten into him?
“Yeah but for them, I am your boyfriend.” He said, mimicking your actions.
You scoffed rolling your eyes, “yeah, so what? What’s the big deal about it!?” You yelled, getting angrier and angrier as time passed. “Felix is your friend and he could never get in your girl’s pants if this is all the fuss about!”
“Yeah, but would you?!” He yelled.
You looked at him in shock.
Yes, maybe you weren’t a real couple but, to the public eye you were, and for some reason, hearing him accusing you of doing something like that made your heartache.
“JISUNG WHAT THE FUCK? DO YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD FUCK YOUR FRIEND BEHIND YOUR BACK?!” You yelled, not caring if the guys could hear you.
“OF COURSE I DO!” He yelled back at you.
At that moment, you felt a pang on your chest.
You didn’t know what hurt you more, the way he saw you or the fact that it was Jisung the one who said all those things to you.
Without a word, you turned your body and you walked out of that place but you stopped middle track.
Turning around again, looking at Jisung, you opened your mouth, your voice was low but loud enough for Jisung to hear.
“You know what Han Jisung? You already proved your friends that you’re a big man that can ask girls out, you showed them how fucking big your pride and ego is so I don’t see the point of me being around you anymore, this is over.”
-
“Y/n don’t cry, please.” Sohye said, looking at you curl up on her lap and caressing your back.
You tried to control your sobs but you found it difficult.
“It wasn’t even real Sohye, why does it have hurt so much?” You said, tightening your grip on the hem of his shirt.
Sohye looked at you with pity. She’s never been good with relationships so she wasn’t sure about what to tell you. “Wait here y/n, I’ll make you hot chocolate, okay? I know you love my hot chocolates.” She said, getting up.
You nodded, trying to control your sobs.
You really thought he was your friend.
Friend.
Was he really your friend?
Or you just wanted to believe that he was just a friend?
The kiss in Chan and Changbin’s apartment, the day he bought you food just because he noticed that you skipped your meals, that weird moment in your door frame, all the times he made you laugh...
Suddenly, your thoughts were interrupted by Sohye’s voice.
“She doesn’t want to see you right now.”
You got up so quickly that you even got dizzy.
Sohye was in your front door, arms crossed on her chest and a threatening look on her face.
In front of her, Han Jisung asked desperately to see you.
“Please, just... I just want to tell her that I’m sorry, I’ll leave after that.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea.” Sohye replied.
“Sohye.” You called her. “Its okay, let him in.” You said.
“Are you sure?” She asked and you nodded. “Okay.” She said and hugged you before leaving your dorm. “Oh! By the way, if you make her cry again I won’t hesitate to kick your balls so watch out.” He threatened, making you giggled softly.
Finally, it was just you and Jisung, alone.
The atmosphere was so tense that I could be cut with the back of a knife.
“I’m so sorry.” He spoke. “I had no right to tell you all the things I said to you yesterday, it was out of place.”
You limited yourself to look at him in silence, letting him finish whatever he wanted to say.
“I hope you know I didn’t mean none of the things I said, to be honest with you, I was jealous.” He admitted.
Your eyes opened at his confession.
“Yes, I know they thought you were my “girlfriend” but in reality, you weren’t and after realizing that I actually liked you, it made me anxious to think that you could fell in love with someone else, someone that it wasn’t me.”
“Y-you like me?” You asked, surprised.
He nodded. “That night, when I bought you ramen, I couldn’t sleep at all. I couldn’t stop thinking about you, your laughter, your smile, the fact that you still looked stunning after studying for hours and being stressed as fuck... That’s when I realized that I genuinely liked you.” He confessed.
“And I could sense you were getting closer to Felix but I didn’t really think anything about it. I mean, you’re classmates, you guys knew each other but when Felix said you and him studied all this time together...” He sighed. “I got mad, but I was mad at myself because you were spending time with Felix because you wanted while I was forcing you to spend time with you.”
“I realized that maybe, I was the only one who ended up falling in love with his fake partner... and it would be okay you know! I’m not telling you this so you pity me and date me or anything, I just want to let it out of my chest and trying to justify my actions.” He rambled.
“But it’s okay if you don’t want to talk to me ever again you know... I acted like a dick so...”
“Are you done rambling?” You laughed.
He looked at you surprised.
“Jisung, first of all, I never felt like you were forcing me to go with you, you introduced me to your friends who I ended up loving and I enjoyed every single time I spent with you all. And yes, I actually got closer to Felix but that’s because we majored in the same thing and we share a lot of classes, we spend a lot of time together but i just see him as one of my closest friends. And actually, you weren’t the only one who felt in love with his fake partner so...” You smiled.
You looked how his face got brighter which made your smile wider.
“Wait... Are you serious?” He asked, excited.
“Yes, how could I not fall for the great Han Jisung?” You giggled.
“Oh God babe, I’m so happy right now.” He said, hugging you.
You hugged him back, with your arms around his neck.
“I promise you, I’ll never say any of those things to you, I won’t make you cry ever again, I’ll make you the happiest girl on this planet, believe me.” He said.
“You better do it Han Jisung.” You joked.
Jisung separated from you and cupped your face, pressing his lips on yours.
The kiss was slow, soft and you could feel the love in it.
“Let me ask you for real this time... Y/L/N Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?

Summary: Sometimes timing isn’t the best. With tensions high at work for Jisung and your time of the month really kicking you in the ass, a fight breaks out between you and your boyfriend leaving you completely alone in a country far away from your old family and friends. Misunderstood problems turn to jealous and catty fights. Is there any way the two of you can come back together?
Genre: romance, angst, fluff
Pain shot through my abdomen. It was like someone was sticking eight thousand needles into my stomach repeatedly for the sole purpose of fucking with me. Fuck womanhood. The pain meds I took earlier were doing nothing to help. This was putting me in a terrible mood.
The sound of shower running floated from behind the closed door of the adjoining bathroom. My longtime boyfriend, Jisung, lay just beyond it. It was easily one o’clock in the morning, but I always waited up for Jisung to return home from practice. He had also come home in a rather sour mood.
Deciding that the leggings I was wearing were far too constricting to sleep in with cramps, I got up and waddled my way over to our big closet. Jisung and I both had enough clothes each to fill an entire apartment so when we were apartment hunting, a big closet was a must.
I threw the pants in the hamper and grabbed one of Jisung’s t-shirts from his side of the closet. The soft black fabric fell around my thighs. Why Jisung bought shirts four times than his actual size was still a mystery to me. The pressure on my stomach lessened but still remained.
The door opened to reveal a shirtless Jisung emerging from the bathroom. A pair of gray sweatpants hung low on his hips, the fabric making a swishing sound as he walked. It was clear he was still upset. Jisung roughly towel dried his hair, rubbing the cloth over his dark locks. “You still upset, babe?” I asked looking over at him. It took all my willpower not to snap out the words. He shook his head and looked over at me with a pointed glance. “You wanna talk about it?”
Again, Jisung shook his head. “Ji, it’s not healthy to keep this bottled up. I think you might feel better if you would talk about it.” An aggravated sigh left his lips and he laid back on the bed.
“Y/n. I’m fine. I don’t want to talk about it.”
It was hard to watch Jisung so upset. I walked over and laid next to him, trying to ignore the agonizing pain. My fingers traced random patterns against his stomach. The action usually calmed him down. However, he simply turned his head away from me tossing the towel somewhere else in the room. “Jisung, its not good to go to bed angry-”
“Babe, just leave me alone and stop being such a clingy bitch.”
I froze, hand hovering over his stomach. Silence hung heavy in the air. It seemed Jisung had no intention of taking back what he said. He didn’t even seem like he regretted it. “Excuse me?” I said sitting up in disbelief.
I felt like screaming. Crying. Throwing everything in this room at Jisung’s little pimple head until it popped. “What?” He said rolling his eyes. Wet black hair hung in front of his vision.
“Did you just....”
“Just get over it. I want to go to bed.”
“Get...over it?” I scoffed getting up from the bed.
“Yes. You’re overreacting. Just get over it.” I shook my head in disbelief. This was not the Jisung that I knew. This was not the Jisung I was in love with. The boy who ran in the rain with me just to capture the perfect kiss on our first date. The boy who sent me love notes every day for two months until I agreed to go out with him. The one who stayed with me when my aunt died and I was too heartbroken to leave the bedroom since I couldn’t fly home for the funeral. The one who never went to sleep until he told me how much he loved me whether I was awake to hear it or not.
“Look I get you’ve had a shitty day. But I’m not just someone you can push around Jisung. You know that.”
He sat up, clearly annoyed. “I’m not pushing you around!”
“You called me a bitch!”
“Well, you’re kind of acting like one!”
“Well, you’re kind of acting like an asshole.” Jisung rolled his eyes, pushing himself off the bed. Anger started to bubble up in my chest. “What the fuck, Ji?”
“Look- I don’t owe you anything okay! All I wanted to do was come home and get to sleep. I don’t want to deal with all your nagging.”
“Jisung I care about you. I love you! I’m just trying to help.”
Nothing seemed to make it better. Eventually, I stopped trying to be the good guy. I stopped trying to keep my voice quiet. If he was going to yell at me, then I would yell back. He couldn’t just walk all over me. My emotions broke loose along with the rest of hell.
“I WORK ALL DAY! ALL YOU DO IS SIT ON YOUR ASS AT HOME ON YOUR COMPUTER. I’M TRYING TO PROVIDE FOR THE TWO OF US Y/N!”
“SIT ON MY ASS? I’M TRYING TO GRADUATE JISUNG!”
“Listen I can’t deal with you anymore.” He said turning his back on me and looking out the window. The muscles in his back were tight and tense. “Just fuck off, Y/n.”
I couldn’t take it anymore. The pain in my stomach was just making me even angrier. “That’s it. Get out.” Jisung turned around in shock. He started stuttering and trying to form a coherent sentence. “You heard what I said. Out.” My finger pointed to the door furthering my stance on the situation.
“Y/n-”
“Get out, Jisung! Go sleep at the dorms.”
He started gathering his things, tugging on a random hoodie and slipping on some socks from the dresser. “This is is exactly what I was talking about.” He mumbled. Jisung stood up, clearly pissed off. He started towards the bedroom door but stopped and turned back until he was standing right in front of me. His wet hair was covered by a beanie, pushing it all in front of his eyes. “You know what, Y/n? Call me when you decide to stop being such a heartless bitch.”
My hand flew across his cheek before I could even think. What surprised me...what hurt me....was that I didn’t regret it. Jisung stood in front of me, shocked, his eyes looked hurt. His doe eyes which I loved so much always told me what he was thinking. But, as they stared back at me, I didn’t recognize them.
“I hate you...”
He sighed seeing a tear leak onto my cheek. His long fingers wrapped around my wrist, but I pulled away before he could get to close. His cheek was starting to turn red from when I hit him. “No...you don’t.” I looked away not wanting him to see me cry. Of course, he knew I was lying. There was nothing he didn’t know about me.
“I should....I should hate you...” He made no effort to reach out to me again. In all honesty, I didn’t know if I wanted him to right now. I wanted to push him away, but I also want him to hold me until everything was okay again. “Just go.”
After a moment, he nodded and I followed him to the front door. He picked up his keys and walked out into the hall, leaving me standing in the doorway. He turned back to me, like he was going to say something else, but stopped when he looked into my eyes.
“Don’t call me,” I said, the last tear falling down my cheek as I shut the door.
Two weeks had passed. It looked like Jisung and I were on a break. Whether it was temporary or for good I didn’t know. My hand brushed over Jisung’s side of the bed. The sheets were cold. They were never cold. Sunlight streamed in through the large glass window in our bedroom. Well...it wasn’t really ‘ours’ anymore. I sat up waiting for arms to pull me back down under the covers. Arms that never reached out.
Mornings like these were usually spent in Jisung’s arms staring out at the skyline trying to convince him that he did indeed have to go to work. Lazy kisses, sleepy whispers even though no one else was in the room but us. There were no calls. No texts. Not even a fucking post on Instagram. Nothing.
All my friends were back home. I was alone in Seoul. No one but Jisung. There was a knock at the front door. Dragging myself out of the queen size bed, my feet trudged over the wood floor in the apartment. I looked through the peephole only to find a huge stuffed bear looking back at me.
“The fuck...” I mumbled. My fingers switched open the locks and opened the door. The teddy bear moved aside to reveal a face that made me burst into tears. “DANNY!” I screamed wrapping my arms around him.
Daniel had been my friend practically since birth. We grew up next door to each other. Our parents even bathed us together. Daniel hugged me tight spinning me around in the hallway. It felt so good to see him again.
I would not have made it through high school in my home country if Danny hadn’t been with me. I had missed him so much. As most old friends did, we had dated for about six months in senior year but decided we were better off as we were before. Daniel was a sight for sore eyes.
“How are you here?” I asked cupping his face.
He smiled down at me. Even though he hadn’t had a growth spurt since the ninth grade it seemed he had sprouted another five inches. “I’ve been planning to surprise you! With finals coming up I knew you’d be busy, so I came down so we could party beforehand.” He ruffled my hair and moved past me into the apartment. “So, where is he? I want to meet the man officially!”
Daniel looked around the quiet apartment before turning back to me expectantly. Jisung. He was looking for Jisung. Just the thought of him made me sad. Danny’s smile fell seeing my expression. “Y/n, what’s wrong?” He brought me further into the apartment and closed the door. “Did I say something?”
I shook my head and ran a hand through my hair. “Do you want some tea?” Looking for anything to distract me I moved to the kitchen and put a kettle on the stove. Before I could turn the switch, a hand came over mine.
“Y/n, did something happen with you and Jisung?”
He sighed watching me nod. The silence only lasted a moment before Daniel pulled me into another warm hug. The feeling of his arms around me was comforting, but not fulfilling. There was something missing about the way he hugged me.
My hair. Every time Jisung hugged me, one of his hands would always hold my head to his chest. His fingers would stroke my hair, lingering at the base of my neck. It was a small thing. A very Jisung thing. But, a small thing I missed none the less. I felt empty without his fingers threading through my hair.
“You know what we should do?” I hummed in response as he pulled away, keeping his hands on my shoulders. “Let’s go drinking!” Daniel was always dragging me on wild adventures. He could never sit still. That’s probably why we never worked out. While I loved a good adventure, sometimes I wanted to just sit with a good book, or just lie in bed listening to the rain.
“Fine. But, you’re paying.” He cheered and rushed off to go change and I found myself doing the same. Hopefully, I could get Jisung off of my mind.
My eyes looked across the room from over the rim of a martini glass. The heels of my shoes lay firmly hooked over the bottom of the bar stool. “What happened anyway?” Daniel said over the thumping music. He sat next to me at the bar of the nightclub we were in, taking a swig from an overpriced bottle of beer.
A sigh floated past my lips. My fingers traced the base of the elegant glass. “We got into a stupid fight. I regret almost everything. If I wasn’t on my fucking period I probably wouldn’t have acted so rashly. It wasn’t all my fault though. He’s the one who called me a ‘heartless bitch’.” Daniel spit out the beer he was currently drinking.
“He what?!”
“He was just angry.”
“That’s no excuse.”
I sighed, rubbing my temples. “If it helps I did slap him.” Daniel let loose a little smile and took another sip from his drink. “He had a really bad day. He wouldn’t talk to me. I was just trying to help.” I watched Daniel’s brows furrow. The base of his beer bottle was rolling around the bar top as he thought.
“Do you remember in sophomore year, I had just gotten into a massive fight with my parent about school and I wouldn’t tell you anything about it.”
“Yeah. It pissed me off. You clearly needed to vent. You ended up punching Marty Finch in anger the next day.”
Daniel laughed before turning towards me again, eyes serious. “Well, I was too ashamed to talk to you about it. Then, I mean. You were always much better than me in school. I didn’t want you to think less of me because I was having so much trouble with something so simple.” I stared into the clear liquid in my glass. “What I’m saying is...he may have felt like you would have seen him as less of a man if he told you how he was feeling at the time.”
Daniel reached over and took my hand in his, laying it on the bartop. “He still didn’t have to call me a bitch though,” I said with a sad smile on my lips.
“Yeah, no. That was a fucking asshole move.” My friend glanced down at my now empty drink. “Another gin martini, dry.” He said to the bartender, who removed my empty glass. Daniel scanned my face. It was hard to hide the depressing way I was feeling. “You really miss him don’t you?”
I nodded, looking away from him and out into the club. “I really do. Danny, I miss him so fucking mu-” I froze. I must be imagining things. My eyes must be lying to me because there was no way I was looking at Jisung sitting on the other side of the club. His arm was draped around a girl with dyed hair. Her hand was squeezing his thigh as he whispered something in his ear. His eyes met mine.
There was a flash of something. Sadness? Guilt? Longing? But, it disappeared before I could question it. Daniel followed my gaze, tapping his finger against the back of my hand. “What’s up? Who is that?” Anger started to boil in the pit of my stomach. Maybe not anger. Anger wasn’t a good word. It hurt more than it made me angry. Jealousy. Jealousy is what was eating away at my insides as his hand played with her hair.
Danny looked over at the man who used to be mine with a curious gaze. “Jisung,” I whispered, turning back and downing the new martini in one gulp. The alcohol burned the back of my throat distracting me from the stabbing pain in my heart.
Daniel started to get up, fury in his eyes burning like white hot flames. My hand stopped him from doing something he would later probably not regret at all. “Y/n- are you kidding right now? I’m gonna kill him!”
“Danny, stop. Let’s just go.”
I took his hand in mine and dragged him away from the bar. The air around me felt heavy. Like I was up on a mountain. Pushing away the pain in my chest I dragged my friend away from the club, not feeling the pair of doe eyes on my back.
The drone of the television played through the apartment. It was raining outside. It had been raining since the night of the club about four days ago. Daniel sat on my couch, my legs across his lap. A half empty bottle of wine sat on the coffee table and a fully drained one lay next to it. Much alcohol had been consumed in the past few days between the two of us. Daniel; to make me feel better. Me; to forget about the hurt I felt in my chest.
A light buzz was hovering in my brain as I took another sip from my wine glass. “I know that now is probably not the time,” Daniel said, changing topics. “But, I had a question to ask you about Marin.”
Marin was Daniel’s girlfriend. She was quite possibly the sweetest person I had ever met. Daniel was lucky to have her. “Oh no. What did you do? You didn’t run here to escape from your fuck up did you? Danny, she’ll kill me! I like being alive!” He laughed patting my leg a few times.
“No. Don’t worry. I wanted your advice.”
“Hit me with it, baby,” I said drinking the rest of my glass dry.
Daniel set the glass on the table, turning to me. “Is two and a half years too soon?” I pouted my lips and looked out the window. The view was still immaculate without Jisung next to me. It just felt...lonely even with Danny here.
“Too soon for what?”
He sighed, that familiar cheeky grin popping onto his cheeks. “I want to ask Marin to marry me.”
“GET OUT OF TOWN!” I screamed. He laughed when I started squealing. My hands slapped at his shoulder. My little Danny was going to get married.
He rubbed the back of his neck. “I came to Seoul to ask for your advice. And also to ask if you’ll be my ‘best man’ of sorts.”
“Are you kidding? Of course, I will!” I jumped up from the couch and poured us both more wine. “Have you asked her dad?” He nodded taking a sip of the sweet alcohol.
“So you think I should do it?”
“Fuck yeah, I think you should do it!” I stared at Daniel with a smile on my face. I could remember when he had gotten his long-legged ass stuck in a baby swing at the park for three hours before we had to find a pair of bolt cutters and run off with the swing. “I cannot believe you are getting married! My little Danny!”  I said leaning over and wrapping my arms around his neck, carefully making sure not to spill my wine.
The sound of the front door opening had me pulling away from my friend. My eyes widened as Jisung stepped through the door, keys in hand. His stare moved from me to Daniel then zeroed in on my hand still on his neck.
“Jisung-” I shot up on my feet setting the wine on the table.
He scoffed closing the door, shoving the keys in his back pocket. “Don’t let me interrupt your date. I just came to get some things.” Jisung’s voice sounded like music to my ears despite its cold tone. He wore a pair of old ripped pair of black jeans I hadn’t seen since we started dating and a baggy white shirt. His usual noir beanie covering his dark hair.
Daniel awkwardly tapped on his wine glass and watched as Jisung traveled into the bedroom. He looked and me before nudging his head towards the door. I mouthed a few choice words to him which resulted in a silent argument.
“One of us is going to go in there, and if I do he’s walking out with a black eye and some missing teeth.”
“Oh please. You know he could kick your ass with his hands tied behind his back,” I whispered.
“Why can’t you date less athletic people? I’d like to be able to defend your honor.” He started pushing me towards the bedroom with his foot. He groaned when I resisted. “Y/n, it’s obvious you're miserable without him and he doesn’t look too happy either.”
Taking a long deep breath, I turned towards the open doorway. My whole body went numb as I took the short steps into the room. Jisung stood at our closet, a bag open on the bed. His head turned hearing the door close behind me.
“Don’t worry. I’m just getting some clothes. I didn’t think you’d be here.” He tossed a hoodie into the bag, not meeting my eyes. I watched him pack for a moment. He clearly felt uncomfortable under my stare. “I’m going to be out of your hair soon. You don’t have to watch me like a hawk.”
“Don’t leave,”
His movements stopped, his back away from me towards the closet. An almost perfect replication of the night he left. His fingers twitched as if he was debating putting back the shirt in his hands.
“I’m a little tipsy, but I’m sober enough to know that if you walk out that door....I’m going to lose you forever.”
My eyes searched for any sign for me to continue, but his face stayed hidden from me. Jisung dropped his head but stayed silent. I watched his fingers tighten over the fabric in his hand.
My hand reached out, afraid to touch him, but longing to feel him again. His head turned feeling the brush of my palm on his arm. “Jisung,” He sighed hearing his name. “Please don’t leave.”
Jisung turned around, looking down at me. “I saw you.” He whispered. I saw tears pricking at the edge of his eyes. “I saw you. At the club. You were with the guy in there. I saw you walk in together.” He searched my eyes for something I did not know.
“So did I; I saw the girl.” He sighed, head falling into his hands. “Did you-...God I can’t even say it.” He winced when I tried to laugh through the awkwardness. “If you did-...we were technically on a break so... I have no right to be mad at you.”
“Even if I did, I would feel terrible if you weren’t.”
Jisung looked at me with sincerity. “You didn’t sleep with her?” He shook his head, staring down at me. Just one look into his big doe eyes told me he was telling the truth.
“She kissed me after you left, but I stopped her.” I couldn’t help the smile slipping onto my face. Jisung nodded towards the door before speaking again. “Is that your new boyfriend?”
“Danny? Hell no. He’s my best friend from back home. He came to visit.”
“Oh, thank God,” Jisung said in one breath. His hands reached for my cheeks smashing his lips against mine. My fingers gripped the fabric of his shirt tugging him closer to me. Jisung kissed me as if he was afraid I would disappear the moment he let go of me. His lips danced against mine, desperate to be with me again. I pulled away resting my forehead against his.
“Well...I mean technically...we dated in senior year, but that was a long time ago.”
He nodded, fingers threading through my hair as his lips returned to mine. I was just as hungry for him as he was for me. He smiled feeling me push him backward, without breaking our kiss. He laughed quietly when I moved him into the open closet instead of a wall. Jisung straightened himself up before taking control and pinning me up against the doorframe.
“Wait,” He said breaking the kiss, smiling as I chased after his lips. “Didn’t you say you lost your virginity your senior year.” He asked looking into my eyes, brows furrowed.
“Umm...shhhh. This is about us, yeah?”
Before he could say anything else about Daniel, I kissed him again tugging off his beanie and running my fingers through his soft locks. He broke away and nuzzled his face in my neck, arms wrapped tightly around my waist. “I’m so sorry, baby. I was a total ass. I should never have said those things.”
“No, I’m sorry. I regret everything that happened. My emotions were all wack because of my period.”
“Well...I did deserve that slap.”
“Maybe a little.”
“Hey!” He laughed, letting me know he wasn’t really offended. My thumb brushed over his cheek as I looked up into his eyes. “Y/n, I’m so sorry. I was too ashamed about what had happened that day to talk about it and I took it out on you. Can you forgive me?”
Leaning up, I kissed him gently savoring every moment. “Jisung, I love you. You never have to be ashamed to tell me anything. I love you unconditionally. Even when you leave coffee mugs all over the house. Even when you forget to pick up groceries when I ask you eight times in an hour.” He laughed resting his forehead against mine. “My love for you is greater than any mistake you could make or problem you have.”
“You are so cheesy.”
“You love it.”
“I love you,”
Jisung tilted his head, leaning down for another kiss. This one was slower, more careful. A knock on the door pulled us apart. Danny stood in the entryway, drinking from his wine glass. “So I’m assuming you will need a plus one on the wedding invite?” He said with a smile.
“Jisung?” He closed his eyes and smiled hearing his name from my lips. “Would you go to a wedding with me?” He nodded, kissing me on the cheek.
“Would love to, baby.”
Daniel walked over and reached over to shake Jisung’s hand. “Nice to finally meet you,” He said with his goofy, lopsided grin. Jisung warily looked him up and down but smiled and shook his hand. “You want to be a groomsman?”
“Depends. Did you fuck the love of my life when you were eighteen?”
“JISUNG!”
“WHAT?”
Requests are open my lovelies! Just send an ask!

【未定事件簿】  Tears of Themis: Xia Yan Personal Story 4-2 Translation
Tumblr media
Translation Masterlist | Xia Yan Masterlist | Video
Chapter 4: 4-1 / 4-2 / 4-4 / 4-5 / 4-6 / 4-7 / 4-9 / 4-10 / 4-11 / 4-12 / 4-13 / 4-14 / 4-16
Xia Yan’s Home
In the days after, Xia Yan and I worked on collecting information on other corrupt detectives as we waited for Sphinx’s investigation results.
Before heading out today, Xia Yan handed something to me.
Xia Yan: Here, I’ve made a copy of the house key for you.
Xia Yan: We’re always going around together, but having a key is still more convenient.
Xia Yan: Actually, I should’ve given you a copy on the day we reunited.
As he spoke, he handed a silver key to me.
I looked at this key that was identical to his and couldn’t help smiling.
Tumblr media
MC: How reminiscent. We always had the same key in the past – even the keychain was the same type.
Xia Yan: Yeah, so I specially made two keychains this time. See if you like them!
Smiling, Xia Yan took out two chibi-styled pendants of me and him.
MC: Whoa, they’re so cute!
I reached out to take the Xia Yan-modeled pendant, but Xia Yan simultaneously handed me the one modeled after me.
MC: ???
Xia Yan: …
Xia Yan looked at me as I reached out for his pendant, looking somewhat hesitant.
Xia Yan: Uh, mine doesn’t really suit you.
Tumblr media
MC: …
Tumblr media
⊳ How does it not suit me? ⊳ I want yours
MC: How does it not suit me? I’ll definitely treasure it well, is that not fine?
⊳ How does it not suit me? ⊳ I want yours
MC: But I want this one… can’t I?
--
Xia Yan: That’s not what I mean.
Xia Yan: It’s just that you’ll be carrying the keychain at all times, so other people will see it easily…
MC: I don’t mind others seeing… or do you mean that you don’t want others to see?
Xia Yan: How could that be!
Xia Yan: I mean, if you want this keychain, I need to modify it.
MC: Modify? But I feel like this already looks great.
Xia Yan: Not its exterior. I need to add some functions to it.
Xia Yan: Actually, aside from being a keychain, this pendant is also an alarm.
Xia Yan pulled down the keychain based on me, and an alarm quickly resounded throughout the room.
After the display, he fixed the keychain based on me back onto the keychain.
Xia Yan: The decibel count from the alarm on this one is higher than typical alarms, and its battery endurance is also longer. Plus, it’s more durable – it’s water- and fire-resistant for a short period of time.
Xia Yan: I thought that you would want the one based on you, so I only installed an alarm onto that one.
Xia Yan: If you want “me”, I need to make some slight modifications.
MC: Okay, then I’ll leave it up to you, Great Detective Xia!
Xia Yan quickly started working on modifying the keychain alarm.
Right after he had just finished, Sphinx called.
--
Sphinx gave an overview of his investigations for the past several days in the call for us.
According to his investigation, he noticed someone that he suspected to have relations to “Oedipus”.
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: You mean that Oedipus might have to do with this “Bedo Loan Company”?
Sphinx: Indeed. For the past few days, I’ve been investigating all the corrupt detectives, including Meng Qishan.
Sphinx: I noticed that Oedipus only had relations of benefit with corrupt detectives after a certain period in time.
Xia Yan: What period in time?
Sphinx: After I faced off with corrupt detective Qian Yi.
Note: What a name… this “Qian Yi” guy’s name literally means Money Benefit (钱益)
Xia Yan: Qian Yi? I don’t think there’s this guy listed among the resigned detectives of Stellis…
Xia Yan looked at me.
Not long ago, Xia Yan organized a list of all the Stellis detectives who had resigned in the past three years, in our search for Sphinx. However, Qian Yi was not among them.
Sphinx: I’m afraid that this is because, not long after my face-off with Qian Yi… he died.
MC: He died?!
Xia Yan: …
Sphinx: According to the police’s death report, Qian Yi died due to cardiac failure, and it was one week after I cut off communication with him.
Sphinx: Right after, Meng Qishan and other corrupt detectives were found and lured by Oedipus to find out about my plan.
Xia Yan: The timeline is indeed quite suspicious.
Sphinx: So, I went to Qian Yi’s house to investigate.
Sphinx: I noticed the same Trojan Horse virus on his computer that was in Tian Xin’s, as well as similar indications of large amounts of data being wiped.
Tumblr media
MC: If so, Qian Yi and Oedipus really do have some sort of relationship between them.
MC: Right, Sphinx. Why did you seek out Qian Yi back then?
Sphinx: Qian Yi was a detective in name, but his actions indicated that he was more like an information broker.
Sphinx: He was skilled at using various methods to obtain different kinds of information, to sell them.
Sphinx: Sometimes, he would also use the information he had for extortion and blackmail.
Sphinx: Either he’d directly demand money, or he’d coerce the other party to agree to his requirements.
Sphinx: But his death is likely unrelated to what I found out about him.
Sphinx: I’ve verified with the victims who were harassed by Qian Yi. Up till now, none of them have received any more harassment.
MC: Is that so…
Xia Yan: If it has nothing to do with the victims back then, then the point of suspicion probably has to do with Qian Yi himself.
Xia Yan: As an information broker, his social relations would have been very complicated.
Xia Yan: I’m guessing that Qian Yi might have gotten certain information on Oedipus back then, provoking Oedipus.
Xia Yan: And due to the intersection in timelines, Oedipus thought that you, who was investigating Qian Yi, had already gotten or had a high probably of having gotten information on him.
Xia Yan: Which is why he had to find you, no matter what.
Sphinx: That’s what I was also thinking.
Sphinx: I’ve already investigated the people related to Qian Yi anew. Accept the document I’m sending.
Sphinx soon sent over a document. Xia Yan opened it on the computer.
According to Sphinx’s investigations, Qian Yi had considerably frequent business partnerships with Bedo Loan Company.
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: Wait, I remember now. Isn’t “Bedo Loans” that trap loan company that was on the news a few months ago?
The so-called “trap loans” were a sort of criminal act that falsely used the title of “private lending” to commit fraud.
First, the victim would be induced to sign a loan agreement with a low borrowing threshold. After, they would use both gentle and forceful methods to defraud the victim of their money.
Sphinx: Yes. Qian Yi secretly tailed the debtors in these trap loans.
Sphinx: And Bedo Loan Company would violently coerce the debtors when they were unable to repay the money, using the private information Qian Yi had provided to threaten the victims.
MC: That case has already ended. If Qian Yi hadn’t gotten into an accident, he probably would’ve also been convicted, right?
Sphinx: Evidence was insufficient. Qian Yi is proficient with legal clauses and making use of legal loopholes, so he made himself seem completely innocent.
Xia Yan: …
MC: …
Sphinx: Aside from that, I found a person related with Qian Yi. Search up “Ji Xiaoyu”.
Xia Yan searched up this name according to Sphinx’s instructions and soon found a video recording.

[Flashback]
Stellis Suburbs
Caution tape surrounded the riverside grass. A woman’s remains, pixelated in the video, were lying on the grass, with blood mottling the area all around.
A rumble of whispers came from the crowd around, saying things like “I heard it was a car accident” and “What a pity, she was so young”.
Tumblr media
Young Girl: Sister… sister – sister!!!
A girl hysterically cried “sister”, throwing herself on the body on the ground.
The police forcefully pulled at that girl, trying to persuade her.
Police: Miss, we understand how you feel… but please calm down. We need to do on-scene investigations.
After several minutes of wildly trying to pull out of the police’s grasp, that girl finally slid down to the ground without energy, sobbing bitterly.
Young Girl: It’s all because of me… It’s all because of me that my big sister died…
Lying prostrate, she sobbed for a good while, then suddenly straightened and grabbed onto the uniform of the police officer in front of her.
Tumblr media
Young Girl: No, it’s also because of them! They’re all murderers! I beg you, please catch all of them!
She grabbed onto the hem of the police’s uniform, begging piteously, her sobs soundless.
[Flashback end]
--
It was obvious that the video was taken by a bystander – the camera was shaky and the image wasn’t clear enough, but the girl’s weeping made me feel irrepressibly sorrowful.
Sphinx: This girl is Ji Xiaoyu. The deceased is her older sister, Ji Xiaoqing.
As he spoke, he transferred the Ji sisters’ information to us.
The year that the older sister Ji Xiaoqing tested into university, their parents passed due to an accident. Ji Xiaoqing worked as she studied in university, all the meanwhile taking care of her little sister Ji Xiaoyu like a mother.
When little sister Ji Xiaoyu tested into university, she started working as she studied as well, trying to lighten the load on her older sister.
The two sisters had always had a good relationship, until Ji Xiaoyu entered second year, when she fell into the trap of a trap loan due to a desire to buy things.
Sphinx: After the death of older sister Ji Xiaoqing, Ji Xiaoyu came clean to the police about owing money in a trap loan, and thus being harassed and threatened by Bedo Loan Company and Qian Yi multiple times.
Sphinx: At the beginning, she did not dare tell the police or her older sister out of fear of the company. Instead, she desperately worked to return the money, but the amount owed kept growing.
Sphinx: After, Bedo Loan Company faked a court verdict, forcibly seizing the real estate that the sisters’ parents had left behind.
Sphinx: Only then did Ji Xiaoyu’s older sister, Ji Xiaoqing, find out about the full truth.
Sphinx: Ever since then, Ji Xiaoqing became absentminded for a long time and even dropped her job.
Sphinx: The police performed an autopsy on Ji Xiaoqing and noticed that the alcohol concentration in her blood severely exceeded safety standards.
Tumblr media
MC: So Ji Xiaoqing might have been using alcohol to forget her woes, then came to the mountain road while drunk and got into the car accident…
Sphinx: That was the police’s conclusion.
As Sphinx spoke, Xia Yan searched up the aftermath reports on this traffic accident case.
Due to issues with the surveillance equipment on that road, no information could be found on the vehicle that caused the accident. The police were currently still offering rewards for anyone who provided information.
And according to Qi Xiaoyu’s accusation, the police filed the case and investigated Qian Yi and Bedo Loan Company.
Bedo Loan Company was shut down for investigation, but due to insufficient evidence, Qian Yi was released after many days of fruitless police investigation.
Xia Yan: One week after Qian Yi’s release, he died unexpectedly due to cardiac arrest.
Sphinx: At the beginning the police suspected that this had to do with Ji Xiaoyu, because she was extremely furious due to the release of Qian Yu and lost control of her emotions.
Sphinx: Though the police investigated this after and found that this was not because of Ji Xiaoyu, I noticed a violation ticket related to Ji Xiaoyu.
Sphinx sent the violation ticket over.
Xia Yan: Illegal carrying of restricted blades… the date of the violation ticket is one day before Qian Yi’s death.
Sphinx: Indeed. I did a little investigating.
Sphinx: The police who gave Ji Xiaoyu the violation ticket was the one who dealt with her sister’s car accident. He sympathized with Ji Xiaoyu greatly and feared that she would take extremes.
Sphinx: So he always secretly kept an eye on Ji Xiaoyu. The day Ji Xiaoyu bought the restricted blade, he noticed.
Sphinx: As a police officer, he had to give Ji Xiaoyu a violation ticket, but he paid the penalty fine himself, and did his best to persuade Ji Xiaoyu after.
Sphinx: When Ji Xiaoyu was suspected of being related to Qian Yi’s death, this police officer testified for her, saying that Ji Xiaoyu did not have the time to commit the crime.
Xia Yan: Even if Ji Xiaoyu has nothing to do with Qian Yi’s death, if she was following him back then, she might have noticed clues.
MC: Then let’s go find Ji Xiaoyu to get an understanding of the situation.

This is a drabble based off of my main series “7 Secrets”. If you would like to read the whole story (which I think you should but I’m kinda biased) then check out my m.list. It’s now completed!
Premise: All of the boys reactions/events of the night when they find out that they have soulmates. This is low-key a longer drabble than I was expecting, but I really wanted to give everyone a chance to shine in it! Also, if you want to see how this all got started, I would recommend checking out my drabble entitled, “The one where Jungkook finds out” because that hooligan started this entire mess. I just picked up where his left off basically. Ok, happy reading! Please drop a like or comment if you enjoyed, it means a lot!
Genre: Soulmate au
Warnings: some anxiety but overall happy feelings :)
Word Count: 5.5k
By the time Jungkook has makes it to the conference room, he’s running into Jin and Hoseok. All three of them burst out into questions simultaneously.
“What is all of this about?” Jin exclaims.
“Are you alright? Have you been crying?” Hoseok puts his hands on Jungkook’s shoulders, steering him into the conference room so that they can speak privately.
“Have you told any of the others?” Jungkook promptly ignores both of their questions, opening his laptop on the table. His head is still spinning from his phone call with Namjoon; the leader of the group was silent for a long time on the phone before he made a muffled excuse to cut the call.
Jin sits and then stands, starting to pace. Hoseok watches both of them with wide eyes.
“No, I haven’t. Just Hobi - but what do you mean by soulmates?” There’s a frantic tone in Jin’s voice as he struggles to remain calm.
“Hyung,” Jungkook nods to Hobi, “Can you call up Tae and Jimin? Tell them to clear their plans for the rest of the night.”
“Jungkook!” Jin stops, eyes growing ever wider. “Just tell us what’s going on!” His chest rises with shallow breaths, and the maknae finally gives in.
“Sorry- I...wow.” Jungkook settles down into his chair with a thump, running a hand through his hair. Tears prick at his eyes again as the weight of his discovery careens into him for the third time in less than thirty minutes.
Hobi is on the phone with Jimin, Taehyung is apparently with him. “I think Jungkook just...found something out about our soulmates? Well...yeah, I know. None of us knew. No, but I think we’re going to figure it out right now. Just sit tight, ok? We’ll be back soon. Is Yoongi there? Tell him, too. Ok. Bye.”
Silence falls into the room, but Jin feels that if there’s another second of silence he’s going to actually combust. With deadly restraint, he whispers out his request for what feels like the tenth time that night.
“Jungkookie, please.”
His hyung’s quiet plea is what finally clears the fog enough for Jungkook to begin quietly explaining. He explains how he just wanted to help Ji-hoon by editing the episode, but he quickly found out that it wasn’t their own episode. He has to pause to take some stabling breaths when he explains how he just knew that the girl on the screen was irrevocably connected to him.
“I believe you, but…” Hoseok has definitely been the most composed throughout the story, Jin’s breathing patterns have become sporadic as he clenches and unclenches his jaw. “How can you be sure?”
So Jungkook explains how the girl waved to the camera and addressed him by name. How there was another girl who was very clearly Suga’s intended.
“They’re obviously aware that they’re being filmed. She seemed used to it.” Jungkook leans forward, eyebrows furrowing as he struggles with an explanation. “It’s hard to explain, but...I just know that she’s…” Jungkook looks up pleadingly at his hyungs, the sincerity in his eyes enough to make Hoseok hesitate.
“C-can,” Jin stumbles over his words as he clears his throat. “Can you show us?” All Jungkook can do is nod as he brings the file up on his laptop. Both boys crowd around the small screen as Jungkook scrubs forward to where he left off.
“See, she’s studying that campus map like nobody’s business,” Jungkook’s laugh rattles out of his chest. “She’s starting up the university. But this was a while ago...so I guess now she’s got the hang of it.”
Hoseok wraps an arm around Jungkook’s shoulders, a curious grin on his face as he watches another girl enter the frame.
“Is that Yoongi’s…?” Jungkook nods at Hobi’s question. “Do you think we all have soulmates? What if it’s just you two?”
Jin looks up at Hobi’s unexpected query. The probability of all seven of them having a soulmate is extremely slim, but it’s a thought that leaves Jin’s stomach dropping to his toes.
Jungkook shakes his head, immediately rejecting the idea. “I bet we all do, hyung. Just keep watching…”
Jungkook skips forward a couple of minutes until another girl enters the frame. She’s small and looks like she’s in a rush, her perfectly styled hair framing her grinning face.
“Morning!” She trills, grabbing a drink from the fridge. The other two girls grunt in response.
“How much do you want to bet she’s Jimin’s soulmate?” Jungkook pipes up. The other two boys only smile, already knowing deep down that it’s no use betting on it. She definitely is.
“Minsuh, don’t forget to breathe.” Jungkook’s soulmate looks up from her map long enough to shoot the other girl a knowing smile.
“That’s her name!” Jungkook shouts, jumping up from his seat and accidentally elbowing Jin in the ribs.
“Watch it!” Jin shouts, but he can’t help but laugh at the look of pure elation on Jungkook’s face.
“Minsuh...I should’ve known.” Jungkook speaks reverently of his soulmate, looking adoringly at the screen where she’s returned to her studying.
“Where are you, where are you…” Jin mutters under his breath as he settles down into Jungkook’s vacated chair. Jungkook doesn’t mind, opting to grab his phone and dial a number. He hesitates for a moment, looking at his hyungs.
“I’m going to call Mr. Bang…” Jungkook looks at them like he’s challenging them to stop him; it’s a look they rarely see from the youngest.
Jin just nods, not even bothering to look up at him. “Good. I’ve taught you well.”
Jungkook wanders to the far side of the room while Hobi and Jin continue watching. There’s a shout of elation when another girl enters the frame.
“There! Right there!” Jin yells, pointing at the screen as though Hobi’s eyes weren’t already glued to it.
“Did you two want a ride to campus?” A beautiful young woman stumbles into the kitchen, eyes half-closed. She’s an odd contradiction; she’s fully dressed for the day, but she’s clearly still half-asleep.
“Oooh, yes please.” Yoongi’s soulmates blows the other girl a kiss. “Kyung-soon, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re a woman after my own heart.”
Jin falls back against his seat, a heavy sigh working its way through his system. He’s clenching his jaw again, and Hobi gives him a pat on the back.
“You alright?” His friend asks.
Jin nods his head, then shakes it. “Jungkook, did he answer?” When Jungkook shakes his head, Jin fishes his phone out of his pocket. Keeping his eyes glued to Kyung-soon, who’s in the middle of a sleepy yawn, he puts his phone up to his ear.
After a couple of rings, Bang Si Hyuk answers the phone with concern in his tone. It’s not very often that he receives multiple calls from BTS in one day. Something must be seriously wrong if he wasn’t even able to return Jungkook’s call before Jin was ringing him.
“Seokjin! Is everything alright? I just missed a call from Jungkook.”
Jin has to put some effort into unclenching his jaw enough to speak properly. Both boys watch on in awe; it’s a rare occasion indeed to see the oldest in such a state.
“I have a soulmate.”
It’s not a question. The silence stretches on the other side of the phone before Mr. Bang speaks up.
“How do you know that?”
“I don’t care where you are or what you’re doing right now,” Jin says, his tone threatening. “I deserve - we all deserve an explanation.” His voice breaks a bit, but he manages to keep himself together.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’m so sorry, you weren’t supposed to find out yet-”
“I’m heading home now, and I want a full explanation ready for them by the time I get there. Got it?”
When Mr. Bang agrees, Jin tosses his phone, running his hands over his face. Hoseok sighs along with him, still watching the screen. Both boys know that he’s looking for his soulmate who has yet to appear.
When nobody else comes into the frame, Jungkook gently nudges the older. Hoseok hardly responds, but manages to give him a pleasant smile.
“Hyung...we should get home. The others are waiting for us.” Jungkook looks a little afraid of what the older boy might answer, but Hoseok nods, closing the laptop.
“Sure, let’s go.”
“Are you alright?” Jin asks, knowing full well that Hobi is great at hiding his feelings. Hoseok just shrugs, making his way to the exit. With a knowing glance shared between the eldest and the youngest, they head home to where their bandmates anxiously await them.
Min Yoongi was having a fairly normal day when he made it home. Most of the boys had a separate apartment, but they all shared the tendency to stay over at the main apartment on the weekdays. So when Yoongi went inside and saw Taehyung and Jimin watching some show on TV, he simply said hello and headed up to his room.
He had barely set his things down and laid down when a shout from downstairs had him jolting up and out the door.
Jimin’s voice could be heard all throughout the large apartment. “What? What is that supposed to mean? H-how do you know?”
Taehyung was listening in beside Jimin, his mouth wide open as he took in the new information.
“What’s going on?” Yoongi asks. Neither boy answers him.
“Yeah, he’s here. Hurry!” With that, Jimin hangs up the phone and turns his face up to Yoongi, who’s halfway down the stairs at this point.
“Anybody gonna answer me?” Yoongi asks again. Jimin shakes his head as though trying to come to his senses, and the look on his face makes Yoongi’s blood run cold. What happened?
“Tell him,” Tae nudges his best friend. Jimin opens his mouth to speak, but a half-hearted sob is all that breaks through.
Now Yoongi is really worried.
“What’s going on! Who was on the phone? Is everyone alright?” Yoongi prattles off as he descends the rest of the stairs. Taehyung finally does him the kindness of answering him.
“Everyone is fine. Hobi hyung called, he said something about soulmates? I didn’t catch it all, but he’ll be back soon to tell us more...I think.”
Where Jimin looks like he’s about to throw up, Tae is beaming. Yoongi doesn’t know who to look at, but he realizes that he may have bigger problems once he begins to process Tae’s words.
“Soulmates?” Yoongi mumbles out. He walks right past them and onto the balcony, the other two following him. He’s leaning against the railing and looking out past the trees as though he could see all the way to wherever his prospective soulmate might be.
Taehyung settles in beside him, a soft chuckle leaving his lips. He’s the only one who appears to be in such high spirits, but it makes sense. Taehyung was born to love and be loved.
At least, that’s what Jimin has always thought.
Jimin finds himself clutching the railing for dear life, his heart pounding as he replays the conversation over and over again in his mind. Hoseok didn’t sound all that certain about anything, and Jimin isn’t sure whether he should laugh about possibly having a soulmate or dissolve into a puddle of tears right there as the possibility of coming so close only to have misheard or have some miscommunication get his hopes up.
Whatever it is, Jimin knows more than ever that he is going to fight. If his soulmate is out there, he’s not going to go another second without knowing them. Seeing them, holding them. While so many things have gone right in his life, this is one thing that has never quite aligned for him.
Love has always been hard. Maybe this is why.
Jimin excuses himself from the balcony, listening as his two friends mumble out a befuddled conversation.
“I always wondered…” Taehyung muses. Yoongi still has his mouth wide open as though trying to inhale as much oxygen he possibly can.
“Really? I never really thought about it.”
Their voices fade out as Jimin clambers his way inside the house, finally shutting the door shut behind him as he falls to his knees in the guest bathroom on the main floor. Turning the faucet on to drown out the sounds of his sobs that have finally broken through, he hovers over the toilet unsure if he’s about to cry his weight in tears or throw up his lunch.
“Please be real, please be real…”
Nearly forty five minutes later Taehyung quietly unlocks the door from the outside to find a sight he hasn’t seen in a couple of years. Anxiety is no stranger to any of them, and Jimin used to struggle with it a lot in their younger days.
Jimin lays curled up on the floor, his head in his hands. He’s so lost in his head, mumbling out something that sounds like, please love me, please love me.
Taehyung crouches down on the floor beside his best friend, his self-proclaimed soulmate. He knows better than anyone that in times like these it’s best to just have someone there to catch your tears.
“Jiminie,” he mumbles, pulling him into a tight hug. It looks like Jimin is just about out of tears although his eyes are still red-rimmed. “C’mon, they’re home.”
Namjoon had to cut his call with Jungkook because he didn’t want to frighten the maknae. He’s well aware of just how much the youngest looks up to him, and he was about to lose his mind.
So after Jungkook calls Namjoon with panic and sobs going on about soulmates, Namjoon sits there in silence before he says that he has someone coming but he’ll call him later. A couple of texts exchanged with Jin and Namjoon can breathe easy knowing that Jin and Hoseok will help to sort this out.
For the first time in a long time, the constant weight he feels on his shoulders from being the leader of one of the biggest and fastest growing bands in the world lightens a little. Then Namjoon does something that he hasn’t done in a long time.
He turns off his computer, and powers off all his equipment. His scribbled notebook is closed and put off to the side, and he cuts the music he was listening to last of all.
For the first time in what feels like years, Namjoon sits alone in his studio in complete silence.
And he just breathes.
At first the breaths are choppy and labored as adrenaline courses through his veins. He gets up from his chair and walks to the window, resting his forehead against it as he observes the city. At last, he closes his eyes and lets everything wash over him.
Soulmate.
The idea of soulmates has always made sense to him from a primitive standpoint. There’s a reason that soulmates have become less and less common through the ages. Back in the day, it made sense for soulmate bonds to occur often. It ensured the survival of the community or family line.
Now soulmates are quite rare. Not rare enough that they’ve been entirely dismissed, but only about 3% of the world’s population can claim having a significant other that fits them like a glove.
Namjoon had long come to the conclusion that having a soulmate could be more of an option. If he were to fall in love with someone, then he would choose them. They could become his soulmate, and he their’s.
And yet...somehow he’s able to breathe easier in the past five minutes since the likelihood of him having a soulmate has increased tenfold. Deep down he must have known that it would never be as simple as just choosing to fit with somebody. Deep down he’d always known that the chances of him finding someone who understood him in all his strange habits and needs were slim to none.
But now, as Kim Namjoon watches people wandering around the Bighit building and staring up at it in awe, he releases a breath and a smile.
For the first time in his life, Namjoon believes with all his heart that everything is going to be alright.
“Guys?” Jungkook shouts as soon as he enters the house. Yoongi appears, his eyes wide. Hoseok and Jin follow behind Jungkook, Jin furrowing his brows as he reads something on his phone.
“Alright, everyone in the living room,” Jin instructs. Everyone heads there immediately, Taehyung pulling a shocked-looking Jimin behind him.
There’s an air of expectancy as Jin stands in front of everyone. His ears a little red from having everyone’s undivided attention.
“Where’s Namjoon?” Jimin croaks out. His voice sounds raw, but he looks better than before.
Jin looks back down at his phone. “He said he'll be home soon but to start without him. I forwarded him the email anyways.”
“Email?” Yoongi asks, clearly the most confused out of everyone present. Jin nods, diving in.
“Let me try to get through this...basically Jungkookie found a video that has our soulmates in it, and he was freaking out-”
“I wasn’t freaking out!”
Hoseok laughs at Jungkook, his tense expression loosening up a little. He was still itching to watch the full episode, he was a little miffed that he’d seen nearly everyone’s soulmate except for his own.
“Shhh. Anyways, we called Mr. Bang and this is the email he sent to me. Ready?” When he’s met with several head nods around the room, Jin takes a deep breath and begins to read. It’s hard for his eyes to swim past the image of his soulmate which is now permanently printed into his brain to see the words on the screen, but he manages to do it.
“‘You will all remember that you were tested about 3 ½ years ago, going through the standard procedures in soulmate testing. You will also recall that you never received your results.’”
A wave of grunts echo around the room, Jungkook in particular looking quite livid. Jin continues on, goosebumps rising on his arms as he realizes that all this time he’s had a soulmate been none the wiser.
“‘Within the span of six months we had received your results - all of which returned positive - and located all seven of your soulmates. I wish there had been a better way to do this, but I as well as the rest of the Bighit staff felt that it would be best for both parties to continue on in their lives. All seven girls have done just that; pursuing education, careers, and preparing themselves to deal with the stress that comes as a result of living in the spotlight.’”
It’s Yoongi who speaks up, the expression on his face even more confused than before. “Wait, so you mean to say that they’ve been hiding them from us for three years?” Jin just shrugs, getting back to the email with the beginnings of an excited smile.
“‘We will discuss the matter of your meeting tomorrow, for now I have attached an episode of the documentary our team is working to refine and edit for your viewing. Please bring any questions you have to our meeting tomorrow. Thank you.’”
It’s silent for a moment as Jin examines the attachment before projecting it onto the TV. Taehyung leaps up from his seat to turn the lights off, settling back down beside Jimin with his trademark boxy smile.
Hoseok doesn’t dare to blink as he watches the screen, Yoongi’s skeptical expression beside him doing little to ease his nerves. Although the email just stated that all of them have soulmates, he still is waiting to find out that he doesn’t. That somehow, out of all of them, he’s the only one who will have to go on soulmate-less.
Hoseok made it a goal at the beginning of the year to find love. Looking back he realizes that it was a silly goal- you don’t just stumble upon love when you’re locked up in a studio 24/7. The only thing he’d managed to stumble upon throughout this year is deep-set disappointment that is gradually becoming more difficult to hide from his brothers.
However, right before his eyes is the promise of something more. His heart only truly allows itself to actually beat when a chipper young woman crosses the screen, her title card telling him the only two things he needs to know at the moment.
First, her name is Himari. Her title card appears as she tries - and fails - to flip a pancake. Her pout that dissolves into a laugh goes straight to his heart.
Second, Jung Hoseok has a soulmate. Somewhere, somehow, fate decided to give him a chance. Somewhere along the way it saw just how much he’s been dying for someone to love and it gave him an opportunity.
But what if she doesn’t want this?
Hoseok wouldn’t say he has many destructive habits, but he is guilty of at least one. He doubts himself. It’s something that he keeps locked away and so far down into his heart that it’s fairly easy to ignore most of the time. It’s only when he is halfway through pure joy that he realizes that while fate may be acting kind toward him, Himari may not feel the same way.
Hoseok is happy that Taehyung turned the lights off, because he hates it when the rest of the group sees him cry.
Jin has decided that if Jungkook squeezes his hand any harder, it may fall off.
Even though the two of them have already seen who their soulmates are, they turn into kids in a candy shop the second they appear on screen.
Kyung-soon is the most beautiful person Jin has ever laid on, and he has a sneaking suspicion that he would think the same whether or not she was his soulmate. But there’s so much more going on in Jin’s mind when watches as his soulmate assists Jimin’s (who he thinks is named Aera but he’s scared to ask because if he gets it wrong Jimin may well claw his eyes out judging from the boy’s intense stare), and he realizes immediately that Kyung-soon may be beautiful, but above all else she seems kind.
She seems like she knows what she’s doing, and wants to do it in the kindest, most uplifting way possible.
Jin admitted to himself a long time ago that as long as he ended up with someone kind, he’d be happy. As long as he ended up with someone who would be content snuggling up at home and playing with the pets, he would be beyond grateful.
There've been a long of unexpected surprises in Jin’s life; BTS being one of the most prominent. So, while Jin may not have set out into the world in search of a soulmate that he could love and gift fuzzy socks and ridiculously expensive sunglasses to, he knows that he’s going to.
Kyung-soon won’t know what hit her.
Jungkook eventually gets up to pop some popcorn. He’s definitely in the binging kind of mood, especially as Mr. Bang keeps sending them episode after episode. They still haven’t finished the first one, but he already knows that they’re going to be up late tonight.
He’s trying to hurry as fast as he can when he hears Minsuh’s voice cut through the audio when Yoongi comes in to assist him. One look at his hyung and Jungkook already knows what he’s thinking.
“Overwhelmed?” Jungkook asks.
Yoongi leans against the counter, nodding. “I had to come in here for a second...it feels like my heart is actually going to burst if I see Seohyun for one more second.” Jungkook raises his eyebrows, not expecting such a candid response from the elder. Yoongi looks like he’s speaking to himself, his eyes have a far-away look to them.
“Happy, though?”
Yoongi nods emphatically. “Yeah, happy. Really happy. She’s hilarious, isn’t she?” Jungkook nods along, not bothering to tell Yoongi that he hasn’t really been paying much attention to anyone other than Minsuh. He only knows for sure who Jin’s soulmate is, and that’s because he was sitting right next to him and every time Kyung-soon came on screen he mumbled what was either a prayer or a plea under his breath.
The popcorn beeps, and Jungkook throws it into a bowl before hurrying back. Yoongi hangs back a little while longer, clutching his chest. He has to take a moment to breathe and bring down his heart rate before heading back. He’s brought a bottle of water with him, which he hands off to Hobi without a second glance.
There’s no need to tell his friend that he knows he was crying. His reasons are his own. If he’s honest, Yoongi felt a little like crying, but that was because he was laughing so hard with Jimin as their soulmates attempted a rendition of Yoongi’s rapping part in “Spring Day” and completely botched it.
Even though his heart is practically beating out of his chest, Yoongi must admit that he’s more than happy with who his soulmate is. She’s hilarious, but also extremely hardworking. She’s back in school pursuing her second degree.
Easing back into his seat with a grin already growing, Yoongi sighs. It’ll all work out just fine, he thinks.
Namjoon races up the stairs to his apartment, confused when he sees that most of the lights are off. Aren’t they all supposed to be home by now?
It had taken a bit of inner convincing for him to leave the peace of his studio and venture home. Along the way he’d read the email Mr. Bang sent out, and nearly started to watch the video. He decided against it, though. He didn’t want the driver to have to pull the car over if Namjoon started hyperventilating or something.
If he was being honest with himself, he didn’t think he’d have the energy or strength to go up the stairs to his apartment if he started the video right then. He’d probably just end up sitting at the bottom of the staircase all night, watching his soulmate.
Taking one last deep breath, Namjoon opens up the door to the apartment and trudges inside. It smells like popcorn, but that’s not the only thing that hits him as he kicks his shoes off and makes his way to the living room.
The boys are watching the documentary. The sounds of female voices pull Namjoon closer as though in a trance, and he wonders for a brief moment if one of those voices belongs to his soulmate.
He’s just rounding the corner and about to say something to let everyone know that he’s home when he hears a voice say, “say goodbye to Namjoon!” Then he sees the TV.
More specifically, he sees her.
There’s a girl, and she’s just turning around to wave at the camera. There’s a smile on her face that reeks of sarcasm, but in her eyes it’s clear to see that she’s a bit sad. She’s waving, and there’s a flurry of hands in the room that wave back.
Namjoon gives a little wave that turns into him reaching out for her like a lost child. He watches with bated breath as she walks away, taking his heart with him. He wants to scream at the camera, tell whoever is manning it to follow her. Don’t let her get away, because Namjoon just got here and she’s leaving.
Namjoon walks forward on unsteady feet, reminding himself to breathe. The boys notice him, and Jimin tells Taehyung to scoot as Namjoon settles down. He notices Taehyung’s huge smile immediately, the sight easing the panic that was rising as he watched his soulmate walk away.
“You look happy.”
Namjoon is the first to suggest they start from the beginning.
“Bang PD just sent us the whole first season! Let’s start from the beginning.” He hardly waits for an answer before jumping up to switch episodes. He had been a bit sulky anyways since he hardly got a chance to see his soulmate before she was out of the episode.
Nobody protests as Namjoon sets everything up, Jimin taking the opportunity to rush off to the bathroom. Taehyung gets up to go after him, but he’s assured that it’s just a bathroom break. Taehyung doesn’t look convinced until he realizes that Jimin seems much happier now.
He’s still chuckling to himself as he runs out of the room, no doubt replaying something from the episode in his mind.
Jungkook pops even more popcorn, Jin leaving to help him carry all the bowls. Yoongi starts up a hushed conversation with Hoseok, who still looks a little uncertain.
Namjoon is tapping his foot impatiently by the time everyone makes it back, and hardly anyone gets a chance to settle down before he begins the episode.
The first thing the boys notice is the date that pops up at the bottom of the screen. It’s overlooking a familiar place: Jeju Island.
“Wow, three years. What were we doing three years ago?” Jungkook muses aloud before shoving popcorn into his mouth. Nobody bothers to answer, each one thinking the same thing: three years is too long.
This episode has no opening credits with title cards, it instead jumps to a familiar office where Bang Si Hyuk sits behind his desk with his glasses pushed up on his nose.
“Hello Bangtan! If you’re watching this, then you probably know about your soulmates. The following episodes are part of an ongoing documentary that we have been creating in tandem with your soulmates in order for each of you to get to adjust to your new situation. I’m not sure when exactly the time will be right to show you this, but I hope that you are all in good health and high spirits when this documentary finds you. Enjoy!”
One by one, each girl sits in front of a camera. They all have varying degrees of concern or awkwardness; but they look happy.
One by one, they introduce themselves.
One by one, each boy sits up as his soulmates comes onto the screen. The girls look a little younger here, and there’s also the overwhelming nervousness that is rolling off of them. The only one that doesn’t appear to be swimming in doubt and general anxiety is Hoseok’s soulmate, Himari.
“How are you feeling?” The cameraman asks. Himari looks down at her hands, a smile that’s enough to have Hoseok burying his doubt deep down as he leans forward to get a better look.
“Happy.” She states as she twiddles her thumbs. “Just happy.”
Yoongi gives Hoseok’s shoulder a squeeze as he lets out a shaky breath.
Maybe it’ll all work out after all.
Watching as his soulmate’s smile fades and is replaced by another fidgety but smiling girl, he makes himself a promise. Himari should always have a reason to smile, and soulmate or not, he will never stand in the way of that.
It’s well into the middle of the night by the time the boys turn off the documentary, but by this point they’ve learned that Himari and Beth have begun the prank war to end all prank wars. What they haven’t learned yet is that Ichika actually orchestrated the whole thing.
That won’t be revealed to them until episode 15.
Jin stands up, stretching before pointing to Hoseok and Namjoon. “You two have got your work cut out for you.” With that he heads up to his room, Hoseok following suit. The other boys sit in silence for a while longer before someone speaks up.
“So…” Jungkook says, looking around the room.
“Should we watch another one?” Taehyung finishes his sentence.
It’s a unanimous decision, and the five of them spend the rest of the night watching their soulmates. Eventually Hobi comes back down, only to fall asleep on the couch as he listens to Himari and Ichika’s Japanese lesson.
By the time Jin heads back down the stairs the following morning he huffs a laugh at the sight before him.
All six boys lay in various positions throughout the room, completely passed out. Only Namjoon remains awake, but he’s staring up at his phone rewatching an episode with his earbuds in and looking like a zombie.
Jin shakes his head, heading outside for a run. The morning sun greets him cheerfully, and Jin can’t help but smile. It’s a good morning.
He’ll never tell anyone, but he was up all night as well. Up all night calling different staff members and pestering Bang PD until he was given a satisfactory answer.
Soon. He’ll meet her soon.
And then he can finally give her all the fuzzy socks and scarves and the cute hat he was up all night buying for her online in between phone calls.
Kim Seokjin begins a steady jog, completely unable to wipe the grin off his face. Hoping the sentiment will be received somewhere on the other side of Seoul, Kim Seokjin wishes his soulmate a good morning.

The Bouquet
Days and Nights of Forever Part 16
Finding her again was dream-like, unreal. Memories had kept them connected while they were apart, and one disappeared memory would also assure them of their destination and destiny.
Episode 16: Reunited, continued.
Precedes:
The First Friday
That Situation
For my friend Pateetsie. I woke up this morning and she was being pestered again by gnats. So with the help of the cold and cloudy morning, and replaying the scenes we/she love/s so much, I worked on this to hopefully banish the gnats for you, Patty.
To all beloved readers who are still here, still in love with TKEM and not yet moving on: I’m still working on the winter palace-- this is just a quickie. I hope you like.
TKEM love still strong. :)
If this was a trick, he wouldn’t even be furious. He’d be happy enough about this vision for however many days and nights he’d have to keep riding and keep opening doors to find her.
But the vision that was Tae-eul kept looking at him with eyes that knew him, and spoke words that knew of his promises. And when she kissed him, it was her, really her, he had really found her, and he sighed into that kiss and drank the sweet, sweet reality that he had found her and she knew him.
Loved him.
She accepted his flowers, and returned his embrace.
He held her tight, just in case it still turned out to be a trick, an illusion, a mirage his brain thought he should see to push him even harder to find her, or to madness, whichever came first.
Every pass of her hand on his back made his heart beat faster and quieted it at the same time.
When they parted from their embrace, she said, “Hang on.” She kissed him on the cheek and then ran to her car. She turned off the police beacon and locked the doors.
She looked back at him and seemed to just drink him in, the same way she’d done when he’d come for her after the skirmish at sea with Japan. He could remember the way she looked then, because she looked the same way now, her eyes shining.
He loved those eyes.
“Why are you still standing there?”
He walked toward her and she didn’t disappear. It was still her, and she still looked like she knew him.
When he was standing in front of her, she drew a deep, shuddering breath and said to his lapels. “You’re really here.”
“Yes. So are you,” he said with wonder. He tilted her chin up and wiped the tear that slid down her cheek and neck.
She shuddered again and clutched his hand to her cheek.
A few seconds passed of them just looking at each other and she seemed to shake herself. “Have you eaten?” She smiled. “Do you want banban?”
He nodded, not really sure of his appetite but at this point he’d go anywhere with her.
She opened the car doors and had just placed her bouquet on the dash when she paused, turned around, and looked him up and down.
She laughed ruefully. “I can’t bring you anywhere in that.”
She pulled him upstairs to her house.
That was how he, the King of Corea, went out in public with his shins showing. He hadn’t done that before. He’d worn shorts during rowing, but never without compression leggings beneath. Now he wore Jeong Do-in’s shorts because none of the man’s training pants fit him.
Tae-eul was still laughing at how they’d stopped comically several inches above his ankles. He also borrowed the man’s old training shoes. It was a little tight, but bearable enough.
They ate quietly, too busy looking at each other. It would have been ridiculous except he had a lump in his throat and Tae-eul looked like she also did. The banban was delicious but he barely noticed. At some point, he couldn’t bear it any longer and simply placed his hand palm up on the table toward her, and Tae-eul smiled, placing her hand on top of his without hesitation.
He remembered the bottles of moisturizer on her desk, and he loved that he held the result in his hand again. Her hand was so soft, and so small in his.
Their legs brushed under the table. He curled his ankle around hers, a subtle movement of the back of his foot dovetailing with the back of hers. She smiled at him as she made her somaek with one hand. She passed him a glass.
“Bottoms up for the king.”
She bit her lips as she said it, and then just let go of her grin. He returned it, chuckling at the memory of her so combative, back when she thought he was spinning tales instead of just telling her the truth so she could send him home.
“I thought going somewhere with bright lights would make us both believe this is real,” she said.
He nodded. “And the smell of fried chicken to add another layer of reality?”
She squeezed his hand, smiling. “The last I was here, it was with Jo Yeong.”
“Nado.”
“Really?” She laughed.
“You mean you haven’t eaten fried chicken since?”
She looked at their hands. “I was busy. You know, I was taken on a tour. Salt farm, palace, hospital, salt farm again, beautiful church, palace. And then a care home, some apartments in the city, one that blew up, hospital again, and then just work. Busy, busy.”
He saw every memory unfold in his mind as she summed them up in those few words. She’d told him about the care home and that apartment. He’d been with her at the hospital. He’d be with her from now on and ask her about her days at work.
“Which was your favorite?”
“Just one?”
“How many do you have?”
“The church and the palace.”
The way she smiled at him made his chest clench, and it was his turn to squeeze her hand. “Do the seventeen rules still hold?”
“Only twelve so far. Why?”
He saw her blinking back tears, no doubt also seeing memories in her mind, specifically when she’d added the last rules. So he just shook his head and reached forward to wipe the corner of her left eye. “Let’s get you home.”
They walked side by side to her car, his arm around her shoulders, hers around his waist. She gave him the key without a word. As he drove, she held his riding crop and her bouquet in her lap, her body turned sideways to face him, her feet under her hips, her cheek on the headrest.
And her hand on his shoulder, the back of her fingers resting on the side of his neck.
“Your scar is gone.”
He nodded.
“I saw Lee Ji-hun. He’s--” She stopped talking. It reminded him of that time in the empty fields when she had also cut herself off. Her face in that golden hour was something his mind loved replaying on the back of his eyelids.
“Handsome? Charismatic?”
She pursed her lips in amusement and then said quietly, “Alive. A Navy officer of the republic.” Her fingers now caressed the back of his neck, playing with his hair there. “You saved his life. Probably his mother’s too.”
He looked at her just as they passed a streetlight, and the pride and love in her eyes stole his breath away.
That soft gaze, hearing her tell him what he’d done-- it made him glad he had done it.
It was more gratifying than the satisfaction of knowing he had fulfilled his duty, had done something that was only right. Yes, he couldn’t have done anything else and lived with himself but here was something beyond his own self-fulfillment. He liked making her proud of him.
He’d never really had this before. But there she was.
“Saranghae.”
She looked at him with a little puzzlement, but she replied, “Nado.”
Her father was away on a convention of martial arts practitioners, or something just so convenient--he wouldn’t be back for a week. And Tae-eul was suddenly shy, not meeting his eyes as she led him to her bedroom.
She hung the flowers upside down on a hook on the wall, picked things up off her bed, desk and chair, and told him to get comfortable while she took a shower.
It was a quick shower. She reentered her bedroom, closed her door, and directed her eyes to the bouquet on the wall, before her gaze slowly lowered to him sitting at her desk.
He saw her shoulders fall in a long exhale.
He was in front of her in a few strides.
And then they reached for each other at the same time, with a gentle urgency that made them gasp and groan as they kissed and touched and satisfied that urgency, that thirst, that longing.
They couldn’t get close enough. Her pajamas were soft just like her but they were a nuisance just then. She whimpered when his skin touched hers, and she stood in his embrace just holding him for several long moments, her cheek against his chest, her hands pressing and stroking his back.
“I missed you so much.”
“I missed you, too. So badly. I was going mad.”
He kissed her hair, touched his lips to the silky skin of her forehead, her soft nose, and then her lips, lightly but hungrily tugging her lower lip with his teeth.
She moaned low in her throat and that made him move to kiss her there, dragging his lips to her chin, her jaw, and the velvet of her neck, where he tasted and teased with teeth and tongue. He had dreamed of this almost every hour of every day he searched for her, and he felt his eyes sting that he was finally here with her so soft and warm in his arms.
He kissed his way from her neck to her ear. “I love you and I want you and I’m going to have you or I really will go mad, Tae-eul.”
He felt her knees give and he supported her around the waist, relishing the feel of her against him, the silkiness of her skin, and the shiver going through her.
She looked at him and he could see the love and tenderness in her eyes, and wry amusement. “You’re already mad. Just take off those shorts and take off my pants.”
They both laughed as her arms went around his shoulders and he hoisted her up, her thighs around his waist.
They didn’t take their eyes off each other, and when sensation drew their eyelids closed, their lips were fused, their hands were intertwined, and they were connected, body and soul, as trite as that sounded in his head. He loved this woman, and he swore there would be days and nights when making love to her would be as normal and natural as breathing and wouldn’t be some symphony-laden poetry in his head, but not tonight.
Not tonight when she had tears in her eyes and looked at him like he might still disappear, when she clung to his shoulders and cried out and it sounded like she was in pain as much as pleasure.
“Tae-eul. I’m not leaving you again.”
“No. Not allowed.”
She smiled as he wiped her tears, and she kissed him as he hardened again inside her.
He lost count how many times they made love without really stopping much-- three or four, five, it didn’t matter. When the imperative hunger subsided, he was exhausted, like he had rowed four kilometers instead of two. And bagged the race, because his exhaustion was happy. He was happy.
He kissed Tae-eul on her temple, on her cheek, on the shell of her ear, and pulled her tighter against him.
He thought she’d fallen asleep, so it startled him a little when she spoke.
“That suit you were wearing. I’d seen it before.”
Gon frowned. “I did wonder about that. You were so odd about it in my dressing room.”
She nodded against him. Her hand slid from her chest to his neck. “You don’t remember coming to me wearing that?”
He began to shake his head, but then images unfolded in his mind, of what he had done before he found Lady Noh praying with a bowl of water among the onggi.
Sneaking out to the stables, stepping out of the obelisks into a night in February that he desperately wanted to change because his uncle deserved a peaceful death, but the Four Tiger Sword was not in his hand, and he had to remind himself it wasn’t this night he should change, wasn’t his uncle he had to save, so he had stepped back from February, back to April, found Myosotis sylvatica almost as if his parents had rewarded him for his resolve, and stepped into the republic, and there she was in his line of sight from the street, Tae-eul tending her plants on the window sill.
He tightened his arms around her. He had really thought that had been his last chance to see her, to tell her he loved her. “I gave you the very same bouquet?”
She nodded.
“It’s my mother’s favorite flower. My father said it stands for remembrance and undying love in spite of separation or obstacles.”
“It disappeared.”
“It probably disappeared when I decided what I decided.”
“Hmm. You decided that at the hospital. It didn’t disappear until later. It was terrifying.”
He stroked her arm. “I think it disappeared because something changed, and the Lee Gon who gave it to you was no longer the Lee Gon in the shifting timelines. I’d made a decision that changed things, or someone else had, or was about to.”
He felt sure it was Yeong, deciding to come with him and not let him sacrifice anything that shouldn’t be. Or perhaps it was even him and the seemingly insignificant decision to say goodbye to the woman who had raised him and kept his secrets instead of just disappearing as he’d planned. Perhaps that had been enough to give Yeong time to intercept him. Perhaps it was all the above and more. Tae-eul hadn’t even told him yet about what she’d gone through on her side of the gate.
“Maybe it disappeared because things were coming together for tonight instead.”
“What? That’s making my head spin.”
“That’s my job.”
She snorted softly, her fingers stroking the hair at the base of his neck.
“I think you recognized me then, didn’t you?”
“You looked so miserable. I thought something bad happened and I couldn’t help you, and I thought-- I thought you were leaving me for good in the future. I thought you were marrying someone else and that you were going back to her. Have you seen that ridiculous suit?”
He looked at her incredulously. Who across the universes would he marry but her? And did she mean she wanted him to marry her?
She was blushing, no doubt embarrassed at what she’d just revealed, so he said, “Aren’t you going to put them in water?”
“No. They’d just die. Hang them up and they can last forever. Don’t you know that, Mr Science Guy?”
“Mr Science Guy always has fresh flowers at the palace.”
Her hand had stilled in its caresses, and he realized she was falling asleep. He pulled the blanket higher on her shoulder. She kissed him and snuggled closer, the slope of her face fitting perfectly against the curve of his neck and her breaths evened out as she slept.
With his hand stroking Tae-eul’s arm, he carefully turned his head to look up at the bouquet of flowers on the wall. He could see another bouquet in his mind, and he could even taste Tae-eul’s tears on his lips. He also felt a phantom, searing pain in his chest that made his eyes burn, and he had to blink and turn his head to fill his mind of the sight of Tae-eul right there beside him, looking so angelic and beautiful and perfect in her sleep.
When he’d finally punished Lee Lim, that memory, that event, and everything else that happened before he had undone his scar, were undone.
And yet, he had done it again. Brought her the same bouquet. Spoke the same words. And he had a sudden, brilliant understanding that this was his destiny. She was his. Had always been and would always be his.
From age eight to a hundred and eight, perhaps, if fate was kind. Fate had given them to each other, had always led him to her, so it probably would be.
He pressed his lips to Tae-eul’s hair and closed his eyes. He had never fallen asleep faster.

Eijiro Kirishima x Reader | Lock
Day 1: Lock Soulmate!AU Eijiro Kirishima
_______
Three years, 8 months, 24 days. That’s how long the heart shaped locket sat in the same red velvet box it came in, trapped away somewhere under your bed and long forgotten. Pushing yourself forward with your toes as you crawl beneath your bed, you fish the little thing from the far corner.
Dust, fuzz, cat hair, and lint stuck to the box, and you wipe it brashly off with your shirt. The box opens with a low pitched click. Bronze-gold stares up at you, taunting you with its stupid keyhole. A mini portal that could potentially offer a million possibilities yet limited you to a single path.
You peel the locket out of its case, turning the piece in your hand. Pushing your teeth into your bottom lip, you clutch the jewelry and stand, dusting off your clothing. It’s nearing 8am, and you’ve got to go.
Little tinks of the chain tutting against itself sing from inside your skirt pocket as you bounce down the road with your backpack slung over a shoulder.
“Ei-ji-rou!” you draw out, jumping on the redhead’s back. “Are you excited?”
Sharp teeth reveal themselves in his pulled grin. “Of course! I can’t wait to train and work hard to kick some villain ass!”
Nothing short of what you expect. “Hell yeah!” You laugh, backing off and returning your feet to the sturdy ground. While you want to ask him right then and there, you force yourself to wait. Supposing another half day isn’t much compared to the past four years, you patiently crawl through the day. Even the quirk test threatening expulsion isn’t exhilarating enough for the day to pass any faster.
But the moment you get on your walk back home with the boy, time suddenly flashes by, and before you realise it, you’re stopped in front of his house. You’re going to run out of time if you don’t make some.
“Ice cream!” you blurt out. Eijiro tilts his head. “Get some ice cream with me?” you request.
He blinks and nods. “Yeah, sure! Let’s do it!”
And so you do. It’s not a far walk, but it’s enough to build up the courage. It’s so much easier planning on doing it than asking, because when you look in his questioning eyes when you stop in your tracks, your heart beats impossibly fast and your mind clears.
Tongue refusing to work and hands refusing to remain still, you pull out the locket against your own will, screaming internally to stop, because even after all this time, you’re not ready, and there are too many what if’s, and---
“Really? Man, you have no clue how happy I am for you to offer. I’ve been thinking the same thing, you know,” he rambles, smiling like a fool and digging through his backpack to find his keychain. “I know it’s probably not super manly of me to make you ask, but I know how you usually feel about this whole love stuff, so…”
The soft ticking of the key entering and turning with ease shuts him up real fast and only fuels his ranting at the same time. “Oh my god I knew it, I was just worried for so long, and I was gonna ask when I dyed my hair but you were going through a hard time anyway and I---”
Your lips on his shut him up even faster and kept him that way, smiling into the kiss as he closed his eyes.
And when you pull away and open your eyes, he’s staring at you with a mix of awe and relief making themselves evident in his flushed smile and wavering eyes.
“So do I say I love you now?”
You giggle. “I think it is. So is this when I say I love you more?”
“I don’t think that’ll ever happen, so there’s never a time,” he responds, booping your nose.
You roll your eyes and take his hand in yours, dragging him to your house to watch movies all night and ignore any responsibility you might have to get good sleep for school the next day. Just for once.

구미호뎐 | Tale of the Nine Tailed - Ji Ah’s Fate & the Korean Mythology Surrounding It (requested by @kestrel-of-herran)
Ask: One of the most fascinating things for me is the prophecy the fortune teller told Ji Ah when she gave him the fox bead. I feel like that's important foreshadowing for the drama's ending. How would you translate and interpret that?
Note: words/terms left in Korean require context and will be discussed below.
EP06 The Four Pillars of Fate - Ji Ah Trades the Fox Bead
Ji Ah: I’ll repay this eunhye no matter what, please?
Fortune Teller: Okay, okay! You were a princess in your past life, do you think you’re a princess now? You think if you whine enough you can have anything. Ei! Your hand. Give me thine hand. (Ji Ah extends her right hand). Left hand!
Ji Ah: (changing hands) Left hand.
Fortune Teller: You were born with a very special saju weren’t you! Water and fire vie on par, earth is clouded, but metal will subdue it, so though darkness should surround you (literally: all four directions, heaven, and earth), a moon rises in your sky.
Ji Ah: I’m not sure what you mean...?
Fortune Teller: You have the fox bead! For that is your moon.
Ji Ah: Excuse me?
Fortune Teller: Give to me the fox bead. Even without a moon, your saju is overflowing enough. Therefore...!
Ji Ah: I’ll give it to you! I don’t believe in such things as palja.
Fortune Teller: The deal...has been accepted.
Ji Ah: Pardon? Already?
Fortune Teller: Your palm lines. Your palm lines have changed.
(Note: I translated this working from the raw, so I haven’t seen the subs to be able to comment on them).
Eunhye (은혜)
Commonly translated as a ‘favor’ or ‘debt,’ ‘eunhye’ is distinct from both of these both linguistically and conceptually. When Yeon says that foxes are obligated to repay ‘debts,’ he’s actually talking about eunhye. ‘Debt’ is another word entirely (빚) and it does appear occasionally. The two are distinct. The glowing ring bonds formed between Yeon and Ah Eum, and Rang and Sajang are both manifestations of eunhye.
One Korean folktale in which eunhye features famously is the tale of the Grateful Magpies (은혜갚은 까치, literally: ‘the magpies who repaid their eunhye’). Shin Joo refers to this in EP02 when Yeon tells him about returning Ji Ah’s eyesight to her even after she tranquilized him:
Shin Joo: And you’re saying you just let her go? And returned her sight, too?
Yeon: Since rules are rules.
Shin Joo: It’s not as if we’re magpies meticulously repaying our eunhye! Geez, how long do we have to be bound by that sort of premodern contractual relationship?
Eunhye is difficult to translate but can be approximated as ‘help or favor (as in ‘to favor someone’) given willingly.’ In my mind, rather than a debt which is a negative concept, eunhye is more of a positive concept. There’s a voluntary, good faith/good will element to it. So you’re ‘indebted’ as the result of a good deed done for you. Except it’s not so voluntary if you’re a gumiho, apparently.
In contrast, when Yeon tells Eodukshini, ‘I’ll repay this debt shortly,’ in EP08 (could also be translated sarcastically as ‘I’ll return the favor shortly’), he uses the actual word for debt (빚) - no good will to be had here on either side.
Saju Palja (사주팔자)
Literally ‘four pillars eight characters’ (四柱八字), commonly translated as the ‘four pillars of destiny/fate.’ The concept comes from the Chinese astrological concept that a person’s destiny or fate can be divined by the two sexagenary cycle characters assigned to their birth year, month, day, and hour. For more on that, I’ll refer you to Wikipedia. ;)
In EP02, when Yeon asks Taluipa to look into whether Ji Ah’s parents are alive or dead, he has Ji Ah text him their saju (birth dates and times).
I’m not sure how palmistry fits in with the concept, and am no expert in astrology, western or eastern, so I can’t offer any interpretation of the fortune teller’s prophecy, but if anyone wants to try looking into it I’d be intrigued to hear what you find. Apparently, the writer spent 2.5 years on the script, so I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that there’s actual meaning behind it.
The Fox Bead (여우 구슬)
Fox beads are a common earmark of gumiho lore in both Korea and Japan (and probably China, too, but I don’t know enough Chinese to speak to that). In most tellings I’ve encountered, a fox can’t live without their bead, but that doesn’t appear to be the case for Yeon. I was also intrigued by the following exchange he has with the Magistrate in EP06:
Yeon: That’s the Mirror of the Moon. Do you mean to harm (literally: catch) a human with one of the four great mountain gods’ four great treasures meant to protect all creation?
Magistrate: And so, did your fox bead protect all of creation? Or did it protect one person?
To my thinking, this implies that Yeon’s fox bead is being attributed to his status as a mountain god as much as it is to his being a fox. None of our other foxes seem to have one, but none of them are gumiho (gu = nine, ie. the number of tails), much less cheonho (heavenly foxes) like Yeon.
I’m actually a little unclear on this front as well. According to the excerpt from the Hyeonjoong’gi (玄中記) at the start of the first episode, foxes that live to be a hundred can take human form and foxes that live to be a thousand become cheonho. Shin Joo is obviously at least 600 years old but he doesn’t appear to be anywhere near Yeon’s caliber (or even Rang’s who is half human), something he says himself, and in the spin-off he only had one tail. Yoo Ri is younger still. It’s unclear to me whether they will ‘level up' if they live long enough, or if they will never be as powerful as Yeon, regardless of how long they live. I get the sense it’s the latter. Both Yeon and Shin Joo have said that Yeon was of a different caliber from the very beginning (in EP02 and EP03, respectively).
Finally, we haven’t been told much about the fox bead’s powers other than emitting an aura only Yeon can see (sometimes) and suppressing Imoogi inside of Ji Ah. I’m hoping we see it again before the series wraps, but not convinced they’ll have time to recover it given everything else that needs to happen.
On another note, based on the preview for EP15, it appears that the Magistrate’s Mirror of the Moon will be coming back into play. My guess is that Imoogi is going to steal it from the Magistrate and use it on Taluipa. She was shown turned to stone in the background while Yeon and Terry-Imoogi fight. That’s originally her power, so I think Imoogi may use the mirror against her similarly to how the Magistrate ‘absorbed’ the sword Yeon sent flying at him and re-directed it at Ji Ah.
The Jeo Seung Shi Wang (저승 시왕)
The Ten Kings of the Afterlife (jeo-seung-shi-wang) [저승 시왕], as they’re known in the drama, are more commonly called the Ten Kings of the Underworld (myeong-bu-shi-wang) [명부 시왕・冥府十王]. In the subs they appear as the Afterlife Judges, which is accurate in that this is one of the key roles that they perform. As we're told in EP13, the fortune teller is actually one of them.
Yeon: What’s the word? That fortune teller, did you find out about him?
Snail Bride: I’ve been asking around via our patrons.
Yeon: He didn’t seem to be just another low-level native (Korean) god. What’s the geezer’s deal?
Snail Bride: This seems like just a baseless rumour, but there was talk that one of the Ten Kings of the Afterlife who rule over hell leaves his position without notice at odd times.
Yeon: Heh...Interesting. In any case, relay any news you hear about that geezer to me as soon as you hear it.
While the Snail Bride seems to doubt the validity of the rumour, Yeon appears confident it’s true. He later relays this to Team Fox at their strategy meeting:
Yeon: Do you remember the fortune teller we met at the Korean Folk Village?
Ji Ah: Of course I remember! (Shooting Rang a dirty look) Because of someone [your] fox bead was stolen from us.
Rang: I heard rumour he’s a major big shot. Is it true?
Yeon: He’s one of the Ten Kings of Hell.
Rang: What?!
Yeon: They say he’s also in possession of the Uiryeong’geom (geom = sword).
Rang: No way~
Jae Hwan: What’s the Uiryeong’geom?
Shin Joo: It’s a sword that cuts evil (literally: sins).
Jae Hwan: Cuts...evil, you said?
Shin Joo: It’s sword they say was made in ancient days by King Yeomra himself from a branch he broke off of the Uiryeongsu (su = tree) that weighs sins. But, didn’t that disappear from the world several thousand years ago?
Yeon: (Shaking his head) Uh-uh. The Snail Bride just picked it up.
As you may recall, the Ten Kings are the ones who put a celestial hit on Rang which led Yeon to track him down and pretend to kill him (thanks for the angst), and they’re the ones who passed judgement on Yeon after he killed the mudang (shamanness) and sentenced him to time in the Snow Mountain Prison.
It appears that there was some confusion going around that the fortune teller is King Yeomra. Given the above dialogue, I can see where people may have understood his possession of the sword to indicate that, and, in truth, we don’t know which of the Ten Kings he is. That being said, I think if King Yeomra was frequently vacating his post without notice, someone would have said something. I also think Yeomra is a big enough name that if it were him they would’ve just come out and said so. Yeomra is also Taluipa’s brother so she, at least, would know. My assumption was that he was one of the other, less well known kings.
To conclude, this has all been a long way of saying that I have no idea what Ji Ah’s palja will mean for her fate. What I can provide is a little context. I’m not familiar with the sword, and it doesn’t turn up when I google it, so I suspect it was invented for the purpose of the show. Whether it remains a red herring until the end or shows up in the final hour remains to be seen.

Not Broken (Jaehyun mafia au pt 8)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not Broken Masterlist
Jaehyun X Reader
Trigger warning: like a slap or two, mentions of abuse
The adrenaline rush was short lived, but my body was still shaking due to low blood sugar I was experiencing as a result.
I couldn't help but just lay on the floor thinking about how I got myself into this situation, and not like I had a choice in what position I was in.
What could I have possibly done to deserve this? Besides the obvious fact that I killed a gang leader, why was I put in that scenario in the first place? If this was punishment for trying to steal for survival then God is an asshole. I might not have been the best person, but I wouldn't say that I was that bad either.
The pain was immense. I could barely see out of my left eye due to the swelling. I wondered what I looked like. I definitely had a black eye, if not two, but I imagined that I looked like a sorry sight.
I couldn't even cry. Despite lying on the ground for the past I don't know how many hours, I was more exhausted than I had ever been in my whole life. My mouth had a bitter metallic taste in it, probably from the blood. Breathing wasn't hard, which was good, but I kept coughing really hard. God, I was thirsty. So, fucking thirsty.
Suddenly, I hear a noise coming from the stairs.
Please be Winwin, I thought to myself. But after hearing the sound of several pairs of footsteps coming down the stairs, I knew that wasn't the case.
"Is our little kitten sleeping?"
My eyes widened in fear as I recognized the voice as the man who did this to me.
My breathing started becoming shallower and I panicked. I thought of pretending to be asleep but that didn't work last time, and I didn't want to piss him off any more than I already had.
I was facing away from the stairs, but I could see three shadows cast on the wall as three figure approached me.
"I asked you a question, Kitten. Don't make me repeat myself," the shadow snarled.
"I-I," I hesitated. I didn't know what to say, but I didn't want the gang leader to view my fear as disrespect. Who knows what he would do to me if I pissed him off anymore?
Laughter was all I heard. He could sense my fear and it pleased him.
Despite feeling disgusted by his laughter at my paralyzed state, I felt a bit of relief knowing that my pathetic attempt at answering him didn't result in any sudden bashings.
My relief was short lived as I felt my body being hoisted up by unknown arms and thrown onto their shoulders. I didn't try to resist because I knew that would get me nothing. If anything, resisting them would lead to my seemingly fast approaching death, coming even sooner.
I thought that I could get through anything as long as I found a way to survive, but now I'm doubting myself.
Maybe death would be better than whatever fate had in store for me today.
As the person carrying me starts walking, I see that Jaehyun isn't the one carrying me since he and Yuta are whispering to each other in the middle of the room.
The person carrying me leans forward, throwing me down into one of the non-broken chairs in a harsh manner. I look up to see Doyoung smirking at me.
He reaches into his shirt pocket and takes out a small key. For a brief second, I think that he's going to free me from the chains that were digging into my hip bones, but he merely rearranged them so that I was chained to the chair.
"Doyoung," Jaehyun called.
Doyoung looked back at Yuta and Jaehyun. His boss motioned for him to join them, so he swiftly made his way over.
I couldn't hear them, but I could see that they were talking to each other.
POV third person
"Okay so here's the plan," Yuta began.
"Remember, first we are going to find out about her connection with Lucas, then we'll find out what happened the night of Ji-eun's, I mean IU's death."
Jaehyun and Doyoung nodded in response.
"I think that we have a good chance at getting her to talk, but..." Yuta turned to Doyoung.
"I don't think we should hurt her. At least, not at first." He finished.
Annoyance grew on Doyoung's face.
"Doyoung," Yuta warned.
"Fine. Whatever." Doyoung rolled his eyes.
"I'm thinking that she is either protecting Lucas due to them having some sort of relationship or she is too scared of Lucas killing her to tell us where he is," Yuta explained.
"Does she not think that we'll kill her if she doesn't tell us where he is?" Jaehyun interjected a little too suddenly, before quickly regaining his composure.
Yuta and Doyoung gave each other a look.
"Boss, do you really think you should be down here for this?" Doyoung questioned.
"Not you, too," Jaehyun sighed, pinching the top of his nose out of annoyance.
"Listen. I'll let you two do your thing. I won't interfere. I trust that you both are fully capable of extracting the info we need," Jaehyun coldly instructed the two interrogators, letting them know that he wasn't asking permission.
Jaehyun took a seat in the corner of the room farthest from Y/N and just stared at her. He was furious with the position he was in.
I need to get my shit together. I've never looked so weak in front of my men before. My father would be disgusted with me if he were alive, and it's all because of her and that bastard. He thought as Yuta and Doyoung continued discussing their interrogation methods.
"Follow my lead," Yuta instructed before making his way over to Y/N.
Y/N's POV
Jaehyun's stare was terrifying, but at least he wasn't near me.
Yuta said something I couldn't hear before they started walking towards me.
Doyoung pulled a chair up and sat in it backwards, arms crossed, resting on top of the chair's back. Yuta remained standing.
"So princess," Yuta started, using the same flirty voice he had used on you at the show.
"How are you?"
The question threw me off completely. I had no idea what to say in response to such a simple question. Obviously, I wasn't "good" with the state that I was in, but his question seemed so genuine, like he was asking a friend he was honestly concerned about. I just stared at him.
"He asked you a question," Doyoung spat out as he started to get up from his chair.
"Doyoung, calm down," Yuta rested a hand on his shoulder, urging him to remain seated.
Yuta turned back to me.
"You must be in a lot of pain, right?"
Still not knowing how to respond, but not wanting Doyoung to bite my head off, I merely nodded.
Yuta walked over to the first aid kit that Winwin had left on the broken pool table and started rummaging through it. Doyoung just kept staring at me. Doyoung's stare was intimidating enough to almost make me forget that his boss was also burning holes into my head.
Yuta returned holding a bottle of water. He opens the bottle of water then he extends his seemingly empty hand towards me.
"Open," he instructed.
Confused, I look down at his hand to see a small white pill, similar to the pills you get from the doctor after getting your wisdom teeth pulled.
He sees the hesitation in my face.
"Relax princess, it's just an Oxy. It'll help with the pain," he states softly.
I open my mouth and he places the pill on my tongue. Then, he brings the water bottle to my lips. I drinking as much as I can, trying not to let any of the liquid spill due to the awkward angle. Yuta pulls the bottle away from my mouth and I breathe heavily.
"Wow, you really chugged that didn't you? Don't worry. You can have more. Just drink slowly."
Yuta brings the bottle back to my mouth and the process repeats until the bottle is empty. I'm still dehydrated, but the water did remedy my dry throat.
Yuta's suddenly caring nature is comforting yet confusing. I don't know if this means I'm safe for the day or not.
"Now isn't that better?" Yuta smiled at me and in that moment, I couldn't feel the pain from yesterday. Either that or the Oxy was kicking in faster than I expected.
"So, you know why you're here. We know about you and Lucas and what happened that night. We just want you to fill in some of the gaps for us." Yuta spoke quietly, as if he were doing his best to not be heard by his boss or even by the man with blue highlights sitting next to him.
"Now these guys wanted to use more violent means to get you to talk, especially this guy right here," Yuta uses one hand to not so subtly block his other hand as it points to a scowling Doyoung.
"But from what I can remember, your face is far too lovely to subject it to any sorts of permanent mutilation and I think yesterday was enough pain to last a lifetime. Am I right?"
I looked up at him as I processed his words.
"But here's the thing," He continued.
"The only way that I can promise that your pretty little face won't be further....um mutilated, is if you answer our questions honestly. Understand?"
I remained silent.
Yuta sighed.
"Look, you're going to have to speak in order to answer us," He reminded.
"If you don't, then I'll be forced to let my friend here use his own methods of questioning, and I guarantee you do not want that. Now let's try again. Do you understand, princess?"
I swallow hard and notice that my throat has suddenly become dry again.
"I... I understand," I finally reply.
"Good!" Yuta exclaims.
"Let's get started."
"First question. How did you and Lucas meet?" Yuta asked.
I knew that I couldn't be honest if I wanted to get out of there alive. I couldn't let them know that I killed Lucas. Somehow convincing them that there was a mistake and they had the wrong person was my only option. I knew that if I said anything that they knew was untrue, that I would be screwed so I decided that telling them pieces of the truth, was my best route.
"At Kitchen Beat Bar," I answered.
Yuta looked at Doyoung and nodded.
So, they are testing me. I thought to myself.
"How long have you known him?" Yuta continued.
I didn't know how to answer. How long have I known him? I only met him once and now he's dead. And did he say have or had? No, he definitely said have. Are they testing if I know he's dead?
"Y/N?" Yuta noticed my perturbed face
Fuck, I have to give him an answer that doesn't let them know that I know he's dead. Well I did meet him three years ago so...
"Sorry, I was counting. I've known him for three years, but we only met once," I finally responded.
Yuta looked at me as if he was surprised by my answer.
"Do you remember the exact date you met him?"
"I remember that it was September, but no, I do not know the date,"
Yuta raised an eyebrow.
"September three years ago?" Yuta asked, seemingly more to himself than to me.
He looked at Doyoung.
"What was the nature of your relationship with Lucas?" Yuta continued questioning me.
I looked up at Yuta confused by the question.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
Yuta looked at me and smirked.
"Well, at first we thought you might have been in love with him, but your story so far suggests otherwise."
"In love with him?!" I can't help but cry out at the suggestion that I was in love with such a vile man. I realized that I had to be more careful with my answers. I couldn't just blurt out anything. I have to be smart with my answers.
Yuta's eyes widen along with his smirk as if he were amused by my answer.
"Interesting! And here I thought that he was your boyfriend. I mean it would have made sense since he gave you that necklace, but the fact that you met him around the time the incident occurred, it seems like you're telling the truth, princess."
Oh no. I'm an idiot. I just confirmed their suspicions with my answers. Now they know that I was with Lucas before he was killed. If they thought we were dating then maybe I would have been able to convince them I didn't kill him. I'm so stupid.
"Let's move on to that night, shall we?" Yuta spoke up again.
"What night?" I asked in an attempt to feign ignorance.
"Don't play dumb princess. I'm talking about the night the murder took place," Yuta cooed.
My heart dropped to my stomach. I didn't know how to act, where to look at, what to say, or how to breathe. I was fucked in every sense of the word.
Yuta saw my reaction and he knew he caught me.
He stepped closer to me and I was afraid he was going to hurt me or something, but he just walked behind me and brought his lips to my ear.
"You do realize we have you, right?"
My breathing stopped completely as I waited for his next words.
"You wanna get out of here alive, don't you?"
I nodded.
"It's not too late for that. You can still live to see outside of this room, princess. All you have to do is tell us everything you know. Understand?"
What did he mean? Does he think I'm stupid? There is no way that they are going to let the girl who killed the leader of their associated gang go free just because she was honest about it. The only thing I can do now is tell them the truth and hope they give me the mercy of a quick death.
"I understand."
"Were you hired?"
"No."
"Then why did you do it?"
"It was an accident."
"Princess, I've seen the body and I've seen the texts. That was no accident."
My eyes dart to the mafia boss in the corner as I process what Yuta just said. He noticed the puzzlement in my eyes, but remained still.
I turn my head as much as I can to look at Yuta.
"W-what texts?"
Yuta laughs as he repositions himself in front of me.
"The texts you sent to draw IU out of the ball that night. We've all seen them. We know that you told her to meet a girl matching your exact description. Are you trying to tell us that it was a different foreigner?" Yuta laughed at his sarcastic suggestion.
"Who is IU?"
Everyone in the room's gazes shot to meet mine.
A loud screeching sound entered the room as Jaehyun stood up from his chair, pushing it back.
"Boss?" Doyoung and Yuta both questioned in unison as the pink-haired man started to walk towards me.
I was so confused. Who was IU and what did she have to do with me killing Lucas?
My thoughts were interrupted by a hard slap to my already bruised cheek.
My ears started ringing again.
"Now you start lying?" the man demands.
"You had a chance to get out of here alive and you decide to suddenly screw yourself by pretending to not know who my sister is? Gee, you sure know how to piss me off," he continued.
"What? What are you talking about?" I cry out.
Jaehyun grabbed a fist full of my hair and pulled it back forcing my gaze to move to the ceiling. In my peripheral vision I see him raise his other hand and I brace myself for another hit, but it never comes.
"I'll give you one more chance. There is no way that you are going to survive to see me leave this room, but if you admit what you did and help tell us what we want to know, I'll make it quick."
Seeing that I was as good as dead no matter what I did, I knew there was no point in resisting any further.
"I killed him!" I confessed as tears were streaming down my face.
"I killed Lucas! I'm so sorry." I continued, choking on my sobs.
The fist that was holding my hair retracted, but I didn't notice. I was too panicked of what would happen next and I couldn't control myself. I just kept talking in hopes that after hearing me out, that they would realize I was just a girl in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"He was going to hurt me! I didn't mean to kill him! I just wanted to get away! Please! You have to believe me!"
I looked up but could barely see due to the combination of my swollen eye and the tears which filled them.
I only heard silence as I tried to blink away the tears.
I felt hands touch my face, not in a rough way, but not in a gentle way either. I stopped blinking to see that Jaehyun was the one touching me. He looked frightened by me. His expression was made up of pure shock, but he looked like he was analyzing me as if to try and read my mind.
"What did you say?"
I looked at him and said nothing. Confusion and fear leaving me paralyzed.
"What the fuck did you just say?!" He roared.
I flinched, but he kept my face in place. I hadn't noticed, but he was kneeling so that our gazes were at the same level.
"I killed Lucas," I repeated.
Yuta and Doyoung remained silent.
"You killed Lucas?" Jaehyun repeated my statement quietly under his breath, just loud enough so that all the people in the room could hear.
"Please don't hurt me," I begged
Jaehyun released my face and stood up.
He merely walks away, heading up the staircase, with Yuta and Doyoung hurrying to follow him as he leaves the room.
I was unable to feel grateful that, unlike what Jaehyun had said, I lived long enough to see him exit the room I was being held captive in, because just like that, I am alone again, even more confused and frightened than before.

10 Times Arnav Singh Raizada Crossed The Line (Part 2)
Read Part 1
This is the continuation of my analysis of my favorite television hero - Arnav Singh Raizada. A man who has as much as qualities as flaws. And my endless inspiration to writing a thousand words!
Tumblr media
Recap: Arnav Singh Raizada is our perfect, tortured Mills & Boons hero. Sometimes it’s unfortunate when recent shows have aped his behavior and not the layered characterization that he had. However, sometimes (according to my own opinion) I felt that his character might have crossed the line. It’s moments where no explanations justify his behavior.
- Tearing the dori. - Arnav Singh Raizada does not apologize. - Blasting at Khushi for pranking, PRANKING him. - Telling Khushi her anklet, their almost kiss & she, does not matter. - Arnav Hypocrite Raizada - forcing an engaged Khushi to confess her feelings when he’s unable to do so.
Reminding Khushi of her broken engagement cause he can’t handle jealousy.
Manipulating & frightening Khushi with Akash & Payal’s divorce papers.
Telling Khushi he ‘faked’ his sickness to get rid of the ‘Swami’ tag.
Refusing to believe Khushi’s version of events.
Becoming Khushi’s landlord and blackmailing her (emotionally and financially) to get her to come back home.
Bonus
Telling Khushi that she does not have the brains, courage nor talent to face the real world.
#6 “Tumhara rishta? Hua tha... yaad hai na?”. (S5, E10)
Tumblr media
“Your relationship? It happened... do you even remember that?” - A foot in mouth Arnav Singh Raizada.
First Reaction: How to lose a woman in ten seconds ft. Arnav Singh Raizada. Are you bloody serious? THIS… out of all the valid things you could have yelled at her for, HER BROKEN ENGAGEMENT is what you taunt her with?
What’s wrong with it:
Arnav arranges a party for Akash & Payal according to his own tastes. He never takes into account that his new sister in law might get intimidated in the new setting. This is a power move for Arnav and really not a party for Akash & Payal because nothing in the party is for them. From whatever we know about Akash, he is a quiet guy who enjoys little things in life - not necessarily wine and a cultural show. Payal feels left out. Akash’s discomfort is visible at the party as he keeps asking Payal if she’s comfortable.
Arnav literally has this party for himself, and he can’t party. In general, Arnav acts like an entitled dick for these two episodes. In the previous episode he makes it clear that he’s aware how Khushi might feel left out and does not invite her to the party for her own sister. He’s insensitive, callous and mocking (and surprised as to why NK and Khushi mix well?).
And I LOVE that Khushi and NK chose to hang out with each other because Arnav is almost pushing her away to another man by his ‘generous acts’. Like if these two were not soulmates and born for each other, I was a minute away from being “Yeah Khushi, I think you should date the other guy who is more sensitive to you even though he’s lived all his life in another country and knows you for like 48 hours.”
Quick note: I’m not all that aversive to NK & Khushi being a pair. Now wait a second, it might be like oh Khushi really pushes their families to think that she and NK go well together. Well… she and NK have an instant connect like no other - even in the future NK is almost always able to tell when Khushi is disturbed or when something happens that demeans Khushi’s worth in the house.
Also, imagine this, in the shoes of Akash - if I am Khushi’s friend and I’ve seen her go through a terrible engagement, incessant insults from my older cousin, and then I see her connect with my younger cousin who actually makes Khushi smile and laugh all the time…
I don’t think it's a mystery that I’ll ship her with a man who can make her smile. And no wonder why the Sangeet performance stuns everyone. Anjali & Akash more than anyone else (because I think they were the only ones who thought there was something else between Arnav & Khushi and they put that thought in the backburner until they see that shit… whatever it was has simmered all along).
Track Rewrite:
I’m just realising that I don’t have many track rewrite ideas for most of the foot-in-mouth situations of ASR. The dialogue that Khushi, here, says is amazing. She literally replies to him, word for word, and makes him see his own hypocrisy and also highlights that he’s furious about something else - that he does not want to accept, as usual.
She states, in between lines, that she has given up reading his mind and trying to be gentle to him when he, frankly, doesn’t deserve that treatment. If anything, their sangeet rivalry and the win-lose situation just gets to my nerves at one point.
Head-canon:
NK openly flirts with Khushi more on seeing how interested Nannav is with Khushi. NK never regards Khushi as his sister-in-law, for him Khushi always remains as his best friend and as the woman he understands best which he not-so-lightly rubs against Nannav’s face every now and then. He truly loves Khushi, but as a friend. It’s a pure, true friendship between Khushi and NK.
Public Service Announcement:
Before planning a party please make sure you have a survey on what the people actually want in the party, especially if it's hosted for them. A party is not a party if you’re the only one enjoying it.
#7 “It is so sad Khushi, ki Akash ka phone mere paas hai.” (S6, E19-21)
Tumblr media
“It is so Khushi, that I have Akash’s phone with me.” Arnav, holding Akash’s phone while Khushi frantically dials Akash to ask if he knowingly signed the divorce papers, and make him aware of the same. Arnav makes Khushi think it’s Akash’s divorce papers - Akash actually signed some random office papers.
First Reaction: I know the context of everything but that was a low blow. I KNOW ARNAV DOESN’T KNOW HIS KHUSHI BABY IS INNOCENT but somehow this part is tough to digest.
What’s wrong with it:
Abuse of power - as simple as that. Of course we’re all immediately swayed to Khushi’s feelings because we know she’s an innocent bub. But to Arnav she’s the woman who’s breaking his sister’s house so he probably feels justified in torturing her with the idea of breaking her sister’s house. I get it, it’s a tit for tat situation.
But if we’re thinking deeply, this is not just an average argument that they always have - Khushi literally is going through a mental breakdown to stop Payal. This could have easily gone out of hand. Just saying.
Track Rewrite:
A necessary evil to establish the tighthold Arnav has on Khushi regarding the marriage. I don’t appreciate the immediate comedy, romance or smugness that follows. The scenes are great - individually. But BUT BUT I feel this event would trigger a more serious reaction from Khushi because she has always been very serious when it’s about her sister.
If I had to rewrite this, everything happens the way it is but instead of the childish thing of her jumping into the pool (I know she’s childish but we have infinite opportunities in the future to prove that), she would grow very serious and threaten Arnav to never, ever touch her sister’s marriage.
I would assume she would become very serious for a few days, and then resume to her usual antics. Arnav’s anger is well justified - on one hand Khushi has the galls to threaten him about her sister’s marriage when she’s breaking his, on the other hand he also would never do any damage to Akash’s marriage.
Head-canon:
Bua ji, for as much as she’s crossed with Khushi, actually had a wedding trousseau for Khushi (she starts wearing all the anarkalis and salwar kameez post this trip to Gupta House). There’s actually a very emotional moment between Khushi and Bua ji where Bua ji tells her she bought new clothes for Khushi when they were buying things for Payal.
So yeah, just an emotional, almost mother-daughter bond between Khushi and Bua ji where the latter expresses her disappointment in the way Khushi married but also loves her beyond everything.
Here Bua ji says that she’s upset with Khushi because she’s their own, if not she won’t have even bothered. Also, Garima and Bua ji have a talk in between where they miss Khushi immensely and find it difficult to live in a house without the two daughters.
Garima and Bua ji have a mature talk, as adults, wondering if what Khushi did was a return to what they did to Khushi and then they receive Anjali’s call to attend Holi.
Public Service Announcement:
Don’t manipulate! Also, always check with your spouse for any assumptions you might have against them :) Communication is key. For more enquiries about relationship troubles regarding assumed infidelity or hiding secrets - contact Dr. Jalebi S, your own sweet relationship expert. But yes, don’t hide stuff from your partner if it involves their family and DON’T MANIPULATE AND PLAY MIND GAMES!
#8 “Kitna bhi jaan lo, kabhi kabhi kisi ko pehchaan na bohot mushkil ho jaata hai. Kal raat mujhe kuch bhi nahi hua tha. Main bilkul theek tha.” (S6, E46)
Tumblr media
“Irrespective of how much you know someone, sometimes it can get very difficult to (truly) recognize someone. Last night, nothing happened to me. I was absolutely fine.” Arnav Irony Singh Raizada. Doesn’t the first line apply to himself too? He thinks he knows her, but he does NOT.
First Reaction: YOU SON OF A BACHELOR! YOU WERE NOT NOT SICK!
What’s wrong with it:
I don’t like how Arnav’ perennially pissed with Khushi the minute he got up. Pfft, Khushi’s beautiful and seeing her wonderful face in the morning was a great moment for a Rabba Ve moment because of the sweet Rabba Ve they had the night before! I love Arnav’s discomfort in knowing how Khushi took care of him while he was asleep, while no one was there to watch. Because for him, it was crossing borders on what their marriage was beginning to seem.
And then the whole I was not sick, bleh, and then Anjali (I love her, wonderful woman) but for the life of me I couldn’t understand what in the world she was trying to explain. Because really, no way had Arnav lied to Khushi to make her feel better/less guilty.
Rather he was belittling and mocking her efforts.
There’s one thing about hiding intentions, there’s another about forcing and painting someone’s actions in a romantic light - that’s not right.
Arnav is a master at hiding his intentions. Whenever he yells at Khushi where she’s gone - it means he’s worried. When he tells Khushi he doesn’t need her help - well he actually needs it. When he’s ignoring her - he wants her to stop ignoring him, etc.
So we know Arnav when he hides intentions. Hence I felt the Anjali-Arnav scene was forcing the viewers to sympathize with Arnav and be like heh, he did that to make Khushi feel less guilty. I anyways sympathize with Arnav given the battle he’s facing internally... so this one scene felt odd.
Quick note: I have a love-hate relationship with Khushi eating all the food scenes and embarrassing him in his office with wifey behavior. Also, Arnav has a very telling body language when he lies - he speaks very fast, and does not meet her eyes and in many cases, physically turns away from her while speaking.
Track Rewrite:
Just… let’s put the wonderful Anjali/Arnav moment somewhere else in the story where Anjali notices Arnav actually lying to make Khushi feel better. Cause Anjali does hit the nail in stating that her brother never reveals what he feels.
Also, I love the entire Gupta House adventure that they have but there’s a part of me that wished it happened at another time.
Like if it happened at the time it did, then oh God please change what triggers the marriage reveal.
Otherwise the entire thing can happen when Arnav decides to stay in Gupta house cause Khushi won’t be coming to Raizada house (post his great “You’re the biggest mistake of my life Khushi”). In a way it would be hilarious that Arnav is trying to win Khushi back but also is facing extreme discomfort at the lack of luxury he’s become used to - classic ASR.
And probably Khushi suffocates him with a recall to the ‘Swami’ track and makes his life a living hell in her house. Made for each other that they are.
Head-canon:
Arnav and Khushi get used to and look forward to having meals together. Arnav, rarely, eats alone ever again. It’s a development Nani and Anjali are very happy to see.
Public Service Announcement:
Don’t eat all food if you have a diabetic partner. Also, don’t try to understand everything your sibling does - try questioning them instead of justifying. Try drinking coffee instead of tea if you’ve been awake all night <3
#9 “Tumhe kya lagta hai, agar tum uss raat mujhe bata deti toh kya main aankhein band karke tumpe vishwaas kar leta?” (S7, E15-17)
Tumblr media
“What do you think, if you told me your truth that night then I would’ve believed you without a doubt?” Arnav, to Khushi, after she’s told her side of the misunderstanding. And with that, every fan’s highest hopes dashed and worst dreams came true.
First Reaction: NO ARNAV DON’T… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tumblr media
What’s wrong with it:
He refuses to believe her. He has a choice, he has heard both sides of the story. And he refuses to believe it. But my biggest problem - Khushi pretends she has no idea what moment he’s referring to?
Girl, you’ve been forcefully hugged by Shyam only once in your life and until and unless you’re amnesiac you would remember that traumatic moment. I am just so upset that Khushi does nothing nor says anything concrete when he says he doesn’t believe her. She doesn’t say Shyam molested her.
She puts it on Arnav. That what he knows isn’t true. That he doesn’t deserve the truth, which is a good argument but state more! Then she goes silent *argh*
Her argument starts strong, but ends up terribly. She just ends up saying all the things that don’t matter!
Track Rewrite:
Khushi should have told why she went to the terrace that night. That she thought it was he who asked her to come up. That Shyam harassed her. That Shyam has continuously harassed her. That Arnav’s not the only one who threatened the safety of Payal’s marriage - Shyam threatened it too.
No matter what Khushi did, somehow Payal’s marriage always ends up on the line. If she tells, Payal’s marriage is threatened by Shyam and because she didn’t, Payal’s marriage was threatened by Arnav.
ALSO KHUSHI APOLOGISES FOR HIDING THE TRUTH!
It should’ve been a clash of their ideologies, their personalities, her heartbreak over the fact that he doesn’t know she loves him, his disbelief that the truth is too good to be true (and essentially confusion because if Khushi loved him all along then it meant that he misunderstood her all along and he’s not great at seeing his own mistakes). She would’ve been too angry to make amends - not until she realizes he’s leaving for London and his mistake doesn’t matter.
Here’s a fic that I wrote that covers this.
Head-canon:
Akash and Payal are the only ones who later get to know the entire thing as this topic affected both the marriages deeply. Nani also knows, but of course not the part that he forced her to marry for six months by threatening Payal’s marriage.
Public Service Announcement:
Lies rarely do good. And be careful to analyze any traumatic event from all angles! What’s visible is not what happens and what happens is not visible!
#10 “Khushi, tum kiraya kamkarwana chahti ho? Toh tumhe mere saath ghar aana parega.” “Nahi.” “Okay, mere paas koi choice nahi hai. Mujhe tumhara ghar girwana parega.” (S8, E21-22)
Tumblr media
“Khushi you want to reduce your rent? Then you to need to come home with me.” “No.” “Okay, then I have no other choice. I will have to tear down your house.” - Arnav to Khushi. The most inappropriate sentence anyone can tell to another. Given that they are husband and wife, it’s even worse.
Quick note on the photos: Khushi Kumari Gupta, not believing the man she married in all three scenes. Arnav Singh Raizada, lying in all three scenes.
First Reaction:
Everybody… yeah… don’t really rock your body… yeah… Stupid. Singh. Raizada’s. Back!
Oh my God stupid Raizada is back again! Brothers sisters everybody’s sayin’…. Not really gonna bring Khushi back nor gonna show anyone anything how… *continues butchering Backstreet’s Back* I gotta question for you (yes I do ASR so) you better answer now..
Are you original? Yeah
Are you the only one? For Khushi, yeah
Are you sexual? Very, but that’s not helping… Noooo
Are you everything Khushi needs - Yes but you need to shut up.
Are you - SHUT UP AND SAY SORRY
AND MEAN IT IF YOU’RE SAYING SORRY - IN FORTY EIGHT HOURS YOU SAID SHE’S THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF HER LIFE, APOLOGISED AND FOLLOWED IT UP BY THREATENING PAYAL’S MARRIAGE, MADE HER WORK FOR YOU AND BOUGHT THE HOUSE SO YOU COULD HIKE THE HOUSE FEES AND THEN LITERALLY TOLD HER YOU CAN DRAG HER OUT OF THE HOUSE… and you think she’ll come back?
DUDE, what are you smoking?
What’s wrong with it:
Boy… no. No. Ask NK, Nani, Payal or even Lakshmi (talk with the people who understand Khushi!) on how to appease Khushi. A part of me was really upset with this track cause although I understand that Arnav is never really gonna do a full blown redemption and they need to stay true to his character, I didn’t see how ANY of his actions would get Khushi back…
It’s not wrong that he was upset at Khushi for visiting Anjali - even I was! Like seriously, Khushi, despite her best intentions, really does make the biggest mistakes! However, implying that Khushi’s existence is the reason why Shyam cheated Anjali was shit. On top of that he calls his marriage a contract, blackmails her about Payal, is unable to wish her a happy birthday, becomes her landlord and stops all utilities (hence now blackmailing her using her family) to get her back?
I don’t see the sense. I try really hard and I’m team Arnav but for me him becoming her landlord was just flexing his money and power. It was a low blow, and it’s really not funny how he keeps threatening the peace of her family but get’s pissed off when Khushi, unintentionally, disturbs his family.
It does not matter that Arnav would essentially not carry on with his threat, to Khushi he would and that’s what matters (cuts off electricity and water to prove his point and it does cause inconvenience her family). It’s just a very unhealthy atmosphere over here. The little moments are great, independently, but apart from that I just found this to be a very troubling scene.
Track Rewrite:
Oh I have a lot, LOT of theories for this one:
- Khushi first thinks Arnav has bought the house from her landlord so as to stop the harassment and Arnav is guilty AF because he didn’t expect that. Bua ji enters right when Arnav talks about the truth of the marriage. She hears everything, and asks Arnav to leave her house, forever. She goes all ‘Haye Re Nandkishore’ on him. DRAMA. #BuajiRoxx
- Landlord shit doesn’t happen. Khushi leaves the house, Arnav decides to stay at her house since she isn’t going back to Shantivan with the promise to reminisce all the sweetest moments she shared. Khushi kills him with the ‘Swami’ shit, again, and Arnav ends up being irritated due to lack of adjustment but also does everything possible to get Khushi back. They have their Rabba Ves and then he brings her back and gives her the sweet gifts.
- She returns home (just like in canon) but distances herself from all the Raizadas (and does not jump into making Raksha Bandhan celebration - ugh, women are not always obligated to keep their sasuraal happy)! For a few days she becomes just like Arnav - unemotional, unaffected, orderly and unexpressive. Akash, having repaired his relationship with Payal and hence having gained a deeper insight, helps Arnav overcome his marriage issues.
Head-canon:
Khushi and Arnav have a conversation where she asks him when, where and why did he transfer the house’s papers to her name. It’s an important and tender moment. Arnav gradually comes to know Khushi married him more because it was he who proposed marriage. Khushi gradually comes to know that Arnav, never, would threaten Akash-Payal’s marriage.
Did she accidentally come across the ‘office’ papers that Akash had signed? Did Arnav actually play a role in smoothening Akash-Payal’s relationship post the Shyam reveal - anything on those lines.

"No you can’t. Kyunki asal zindagi main guzara karne ke liye paise chahiye hote hai. Aur paise kamane ke liye akal chahiye hoti hai. Himmat aur confidence chahiye hote hai puri duniya ka saamna karne ke liye. Apne sapne pure karne ke liye. Aur tumhe inn sab main se kuch bhi nahi hai.” (S11, E2)

“No you can’t [face the world on your own]. Because to face the real world you need need. And to earn money you need intelligence. You need bravery and confidence to face the whole whole. To fulfill your dreams. And you have none of these.” Arnav, to Khushi. The moment when Arnav forgot that Khushi was the sole breadwinner of the Gupta’s and Khushi forgot that Arnav is a multimillionaire.
First Reaction: WHAT ARE THE WRITERS DOING? WHAT IS THE CHANNEL DOING? WHAT IS ARNAV DOING? THIS LEADS TO A FASHION SHOW INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL CHAT - WHAT IS KHUHSI DOING? WHAT AM I DOING??!! Should I stop watching the show?
What’s wrong with it:
I really liked Arnav and Khushi’s difference of opinion when it came to raising Aarav - not where she is being stupid and asking to burst crackers (she is retracting on so many of her characteristics right now I can’t keep a track). I did not like the second half of the argument because it really took the characters several notches down on their growth/development.
I really liked Khushi stating to Arnav that - hey, buying happiness with money can work with adults but terribly spoil children. But then what followed, without a hint of apology, into an embarrassing and terrible Fashion Pageant that completely missed the point of this argument!
Neither parent thinks it’s important to sit and have a calm chat with Aarav. Arnav is a ‘yes’ man around him. Khushi is there to heap the values instilled on her. Is anyone trying to make Aarav understand, no? And Arnav’s evident lack of respect for Khushi will translate to Aarav.
They’re both bad at parenting and this could have been a really nice track that they could have wrapped up in a few episodes but no.
Aarav never learns. Arnav gives a half assed dialogue about ‘oh I know Khushi you’re talented’ and Khushi spends the next 10 days behaving like an 8 year old, not chatting up with Aarav about behavior issues, and thinks winning a Fashion Pageant is being courageous, talented, determined and independent.
*throws head on wall*
Track Rewrite:
Oh I HAVE TONS but I’ll explain my favorite one. First of all, I’ll let that argument be because it is natural that this is where Arnav and Khushi might conflict. But instead of Khushi’s childish sulking that puts Arnav into a ‘oh let’s make her jealous, call her to office, appease her by some shitty ASR plan and probably apologise somewhere’ and Khushi going all ‘haww, he called me brainless, now I’ll prove so by stupidly acting like a kid in his coat’-
Arnav and Khushi stand still when they realise he has crossed a line and he storms off, leaving a very quiet Khushi alone. They both walk on eggshells, neither’s ego letting the argument down. It seriously hampers their relationship. They just don’t speak and anything small leads to a big argument.
Khushi spends an enormous amount of time in her catering service in an attempt to prove herself, becoming a bit crazy behind earning money which makes her off character. Arnav throws himself in office, and is almost happy when he realizes Khushi’s catering service does not earn even half of his monthly profit, annually. A competitive streak drives a wedge between them. This goes on - that troubles the entire family, and stops until Aarav misbehaves with Anjali.
This breaks the ice wall between Arnav and Khushi, draws them out of their workaholic spheres. Bua ji, Payal, NK reprimand Khushi for being absent in raising Aarav, her obsession to make Aarav religious and traditional without making him understand the reason of the values and above all, competitive with her husband that she grandly declared she can’t live without. Mami, Nani, Akash reprimand Arnav for pretty much the same.
When Arnav and Khushi talk to Anjali, she again reprimands the both of them in terms of parenting, marriage and the coexistence of both. Arnav cannot buy upbringing, manners, ethics, respect and character through money. Khushi cannot instill goodness, kindness, generosity and honesty by piling beliefs of the Lord. If that was the case then her husband - who would get all the money he needed from Arnav, and believed in all the Gods - would be a good man.
Arnav and Khushi talk to their son, together, to figure out his actual problem of fitting in. Aarav is surprised to learn both his parents were orphans. He truly bonds with them after getting through his adjustment fears and issues. In teaching Aarav, Arnav and Khushi realise what truly matters - their love. And that they had forgotten how similar they were.
With Aarav they have met another person who is just like them - alone, afraid, orphaned and lonely who’s standing at the same point in life where he either turns himself into a man with absolute belief or none at all. And with parents who have faced the extremes of fates, Aarav might just have the perfect upbringing.
Hence, Arnav and Khushi patch up with an emotional, tear jerking hug. They end up recounting each other’s stories and realize how far they’ve come along. They never had a name for their love and after all the hatred, denial, lust, acceptance, confession, purity, marriage and parenthood - no one name’s going to fit either.
Head-canon:
Aarav, although behaviorally like his father, grows up to be a complete Mumma’s boy. If anyone thought Arnav is super protective about Khushi, well Aarav is ten times more protective about his mother. Also, internally Aarav is a big fan of Hindi cinema, loves sweets and has the most outrageous dance moves. But he’s also an introvert so he would kill anyone who pointed out on those.
