You've done everything in your power to get him to, but he's like a stone.

One night, the two of you are curled up against each other in a tender embrace on the couch. The TV's running low-quality soapies but you and Nanami only half-listen; it's really just serving the purpose of being background noise to the soft scene of your kissing.

He always, always needs a make out session with you after a long day at work. That paired with your sweet voice calms his nerves.

He may be tired, but he still doesn't miss a detail of anything you say as you intermittently speak between kisses.

You tilt your head at your husband, noting the downturn of his lips. That ever-present frown that adorned his mature face, you wish you could erase the memories that caused it.

Then you say something that causes Nanami's ears to perk up.

" 'Nami, I promise one day to make you so happy that you smile."

He looks down at you tenderly, fingers ceasing their trails through your hair.

"Angel," he begins softly, "just because I'm not smiling doesn't mean I'm unhappy." he assures.

"So... you're saying I do make you happy?" you look at him.

"Of course you do. Very much so. In fact, you've always made me happier than anyone else. To be quite frank, everyone else pisses me off but you don't."

You let out a little laugh. The two of you bask in a moment of sudden kisses, your lips had a mind of their own on nights like these; kiss kiss kiss.

"Mmm... but you never smile much." you continue on the topic lingering in the air.

You say this with a little frown. Nanami finds your subtlest expressions so endearing, they're one of the first things he noticed about you when you first started working alongside him at Jujutsu High.

"I don't like my smile." he admits coolly.

You pull a bit away from his embracing arms to look at him incredulously, mouth agape.

"What! But you have one of the best smiles! You even have dimples. And you know I have a weakness for dimples! If you'd smile more, I'd go so weak in the knees that I wouldn't be able to stand up."

Nanami chuckles softly, closing his eyes momentarily. "Is that so? I thought I had the power to make you weak in the knees anyways." he jokes.

"Oh hush." you reply. "But, y'know, I really want to see you smile more. I want to see your dimples appear. I want to see your eyes crease."

His heart lurches at your words and then he — he smiles just a little bit. As soon as his lip corners begin to curl up, he suppresses it, and those dimples appear like two dents in a soft ball of dough.

"Whatever my angel wishes for, I'll give her." he states, "I'll try smile more for you."

"Mmm, thank you." you smile. You admire his features, and the way he always closes his eyes when he feels a small embarrassment. "What a cute husband I've got." you murmur, and kiss at his dimples.

You unknowingly sent a shiver down his spine.

"Don't call me cute." he says dead seriously while properly smiling now. "You know how much I hate that word."

"Cute cute cute. You're cute." you tease.

"C'mere you..."

You hum your giggles against his face as he lunges in for kisses, aiming to shut you up with his lips.

But kissing is impossible when he can't stop smiling. Your teeth gently clash together, everything so sweetly chaotic.

"You can't even kiss me 'cuz you're smiliiing. That's so cute — haha I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'll stopppmmfffff — "

Now since that night, whenever you want to get a smile out of your husband, you kiss at the place where his dimples appear. And surely, soon enough, there's those little dents and his curling lips and creasing eyes.

Sorry if you already answered this- but I am DYING to know more about Quinns prophetic visions. What does it mean that he puts himself in ‘near-death’ situations to have one? Could you give an example? Also do they last long/ put him in a trance or is it quick. If they last long I could imagine the first time it happened around Vincent him being totally freaked out and trying to make sure he was ok (maybe he was worried Quinn was having a stroke/seizure)

I do have a very long answer and it's under the cut! (tw for mentions of self-harm, injury, drugs, domestic violence, non con) this is so heavy I'm sorry please read at your own discretion.

So--the first time Quinn's visions appeared was in the aftermath of the bus accident that nearly took his life. He'd been impaled in the shoulder with a metal pole, lost a lot of blood, and ended up coding when he got to the hospital. While in recovery, he experienced an intense seizure-like episode, which the hospital staff assumed was a side effect of his fever spiking dangerously high. But no--turns out his 'vision' and the delirious ramblings he tried to warn everyone about came true a week later (it was a major catastrophic event; I will touch on this later at some point..)

Hereafter, a series of injuries and illnesses in his preteen years enabled him to grasp the basics: if he gets personally close to death, a vision is granted (and it's usually a portent of something supernatural and horrible).

There were several....attempts to test the limits of this, as well as a dangerous theory: did he only experience the visions because the events he'd seen were meant to happen, or did the events happen because he saw them?

Interesting, interesting....

When Quinn experiences a vision, the effects can vary. Usually, he does exhibit something similar to a seizure--there's violent thrashing, sometimes screaming, or other times he drops to the floor, seemingly paralyzed. An outsider might assume he was dead if they didn't know better.

The length of an episode also varies: they can be as little as a couple of seconds to up to thirty minutes (at least that's the longest he's had so far)

Another thing to note is--his visions always take place from the point of view of someone else. Whatever event he's witnessing is shown to him from behind the eyes of a person present at the scene. As such, if the POV dies, Quinn reacts accordingly (thrashing, screaming, etc)

He also has other clairvoyant qualities, in that he appears to have an uncanny sense of luck in the field. What makes vampires so notorious to combat is their enhanced speed (when aiming, it's less a matter of where they're standing now as opposed to where they will be in a flash of a second) Quinn has a keen ability to prejudge where the target will be, and is almost always successful in taking an accurate shot.

After certain...events in his teen years--Quinn swore to put his prophecies behind him, and for a long time, he did his best to suppress them. It was only serving in the military and thus being thrown into danger regularly that forced him to confront the benefits of his 'gift' once more. A harrowing field injury left him a vision on the eve of a big mission: one that would fail from the things he saw. Quinn attempted to relay this 'newly discovered intel' to a higher-up, but it was ignored, and the subsequent failure played out just as he'd seen it.

Despite knowing very little about whether he'd ever be able to drastically change the future, if at all, Quinn took it upon himself to try to use the visions as a guide for future endeavors. With that came a sense of personal responsibility: if he had a chance to see a glimpse into a probable future, this could potentially save the lives of his squadmates. But he couldn't very well be exposing himself to danger regularly in order to induce a vision, could he. So he developed...other methods.

Drugs became his 'easiest' option, and that was still a huge gamble. A hit strong enough to run the risk of OD usually was enough to give him a vision. And acquiring them was simple enough--his ex bf Marc was a willing supplier. But using them in the field was not really a choice Quinn was comfortable with, especially when his CO found out and was ready to discharge him on the spot (they...worked something out)

His other options were more...creative, but usually required a partner. When his best mate Danny was first asked to drown him in the bathtub of the safe house they were holed up in, it was met with, ah...a lot of resistance. Quinn had attempted this on his own once, and yeah....that was nearly fatal. It took a lot of convincing, but eventually Quinn did persuade his friend to hold his head under the water long enough for him to stop thrashing, and then resuscitate him only to watch him writhe on the floor in apparent agony. Not at all recommended!!! good friends do not do this to their bros ❌ Danny was extremely traumatized and fucked up over the whole thing, and Quinn swore he'd never ask him to do it again (spoiler: he did)

The dangerous self-harm options just seemed to escalate though. It didn't help that Quinn's (psychotic) boyfriend was the biggest enabler of all. Marc was a violent lover, both physically and mentally. Yet Quinn didn't mind in the beginning; his mental state is not the greatest (can you tell??) so he often used Marc as an outlet to punish himself :'D There was an...incident with choking that went a little too far, and after witnessing Quinn's episode first-hand, Marc eventually figured out the basics as well. And as a result...well. Let's just say Marc appreciated hearing details of future events (for investments and whatnot) and was not at all inclined to entreat his boyfriend's safety above all else. This led to....various incidents of forced suffocation (most of which were not consensual) god this is really horrible, I'm sorry... They do break up, finally, but there's still a sense that Marc isn't done with him yet...

Eventually, Quinn does reach a healthier mindset with the help of his therapist and his commanding officer (and Fig!). At current, he hasn't had an episode since his last field assignment and injury, and hasn't induced one in over a year.

His developing relationship with Vincent comes with the eventual explanation of...all that, as well as a new catch-22--now that Quinn has someone he cares about more than anyone else, the 'personal responsibility' starts to stir up once more. Especially with a recently learned development--taking Vincent's venom-neutralizing pills is enough to induce a vision.

This can definitely complicate things....

And in the back of his mind, that notion still remains: is he the one causing these things to happen, by witnessing them in the first place??

So there you have it! It's not everything, and I'm still brainstorming a few of the details...but this is most of what I've thought up thus far~

most of vintage sg-1 fandom was wiped out by expired domains, struck-through livejournals, ff.net's porn ban, yahoo lists, etc. some pages are still preserved in the wayback machine for heliopolis, the massive het-and-gen archive, and area52, the slash counterpart, but with the search and directory functions pretty much toast, they're almost impossible to navigate.

fanlore has an old list of archives (including plenty of jack/daniel ones). some smaller archives might yield wayback paydirt, especially if they were hand-coded. samandjack.net is still alive!

and, hate to say it, this was peak era for ff.net and they have like 30k fics over there... but all the explicit fic is gone.

i recently learned some people are still doing het-reccers (user-submitted fanfic recommendations, LJ archive is here). i don't know if any slash equivalents are still around (and i haven't looked at this site for genuinely fifteen years, so i can't speak to the quality of recs).

Do you think if Robert Jordan had gotten to finish A Memory of Light, Egwene would've had to deal with the reality that she's actually a pretty bad friend and also that she is not, in fact, the main character? That last bit was kinda mean and maybe undeserved but the way the show glorifies her so much ruined the character for me and I can now only see her bad qualities. I was also pretty disappointed by the fact that her habit of ditching her friends in order to gain prestige with authority figures never got adressed. I started thinking about this because of your latest reply about Two Rivers solidarity.

I don't think Egwene would have dealt with that sort of thing directly. A big part of Jordan's characterization is that characters do not have that omniscient perspective that readers do. That's why they're at cross-purposes so often: to the readers they are all on the same team and disappointingly, fail to act like it, but they are unaware of that team, and see things through their own perspective.

I don't think Egwene sees her actions in that light. She's just trying to work her way up, in her eyes. A lot of what she differs with them on is stuff she considers trivia or superfluous. Also, ironically, Egwene is the one character with some vague sense of the overall narrative, she does think of people in a unified way, as part of Team Light. It's just that her idea of the narrative has herself as the protagonist, and Team Light is oriented with her in a critical role.

Egwene's problem is one of initial perception, in keeping with RJ's themes. She slots everyone into a role, and then never really changes her mind. And that informs a lot of her behavior, she is not acting according to what we see as the relationship with her friends, but according to her own conception. For instance, I think she sees Rand as kind of an endearing dumbass, and does not get why he is so popular among their peers or well-regarded by their elders, and figures he must be fishing for positive attention. Thus we have her repeatedly acting throughout EotW as if Rand is some Munchausen type, making up stories to get attention. It fits with her ongoing refusal to consider his agency or privacy, and upon attaining the Amyrlin Seat, believing he is in deep trouble without her guidance. For someone who is constantly aware of her growth and personal development, and thinking specifically of it, where most of the other PoVs think in terms of changes they have noticed in themselves, she is remarkably resistant to acknowledging it about anyone else. Or considering much what the things she knows about them mean. When Rand is getting ready to confront the High Lords in Tear, he talks specifically in terms of protecting the common people from their abuse and depredations, asserting that he rules Tear now. Egwene scoffs mentally, recalling him protecting a lamb from wolves and thinking "he was a shepherd, not a king." Like, sweetie, don't you even see the connection there? Also, she is completely missing that Rand means for her to pass that on to Moiraine, that he is in charge here, not the High Lords and not any Aes Sedai. As is usually the case, despite the 18 year relationship that has people with an interest in Rand's romantic life going to Egwene for help and advice, his actual love interests are vastly superior at guiding, managing or getting through to him. Right when she's about to respond to Rand's statement of his authority with an unproductive argument aimed at putting him in his place, Elayne interjects, and actually gets him to listen and accept their help. Even at the end of their conversation, when she leaves his rooms, Egwene thinks he is still in love with her, and his claim otherwise merely an attempt to save face, completely failing to notice that it's Elayne he is responding to, Elayne who gets him to react and Elayne who has him flustered and awkward. All the clues are there, and she's paying a lot of attention to him, and his affections and romantic interest are the whole reason she is in the room in the first place, but nothing sinks in. She goes through something similar with Aviendha, only realizing sometime before their dream meeting in CoT how the Aiel woman feels about Rand. And all this does is confuse her about Aviendha's demeanor toward Elayne & her pregnancy. More than anyone else, Egwene has the pieces to put it all together. She was in a romantic relationship with him, and was very close to Aviendha, but Mat - Mat! - figures out what is between them before she does. Even Nynaeve's intuition brings her fairly close to the truth about Rand, Elayne & Aviendha, before a balefire attack, breaking her block and marriage in close succession distract her.

It's the same with the other boys. She takes Aram's side when he is posturing about the Way of the Leaf to bait Perrin, saying it's nice to meet someone who doesn't think his muscles can solve every problem. Implicitly accusing Perrin of this, when it is exactly the trait furthest from his character. Perrin is the one who is most concerned about tempering strength and power with control and care, to prevent harm from hasty or careless action. It's what underlies their fight about Egwene channeling to make a campfire, where her own assertion of her intention to keep channeling might very well be rephrased as what she accuses Perrin of in contrast to Aram. Substitute "channeling ability" for "muscles," and it's very close to her attitude. Because for whatever reason, she is locked in on the idea of Perrin being all muscle and no brain, or afflicted with hairy-chested thinking, and that's how she treats him. With Mat, notice that she told Elayne that he's a sucker for a pretty face and to flirt him into taking her letter. Mat is immune, and we never actually see him simping for any girl. He'll go to great lengths to get their attention, but it's because he enjoys the interaction. The low character of Tylin & Melindra, and Mat's bemusement with each one, seem to blind people to the fact that they are the ones pursuing him and going to great lengths, as well as projecting all sorts of heroic aspects on him. But Egwene thinks he is easily manipulated by women. Nynaeve is the one whose approach succeeds, and from what she says, it's what she told them she wanted to do from the outset - appeal to his better nature and their relationship. As acerbically as she puts it, being Nynaeve, it's actually rather respectful of his character, taking his good qualities for granted and expecting him to live up to them. Four books in a row, Egwene hears about Mat's new military aspect, and as late as the confrontation with the Andorans in tPoD, is either skeptical or astonished anew at each revelation. Note that two of the people saying as much to, or in front of, her are Moiraine & Gareth Bryne, both of whom she respects. But none of that fits in with her preconception of Mat, which nothing seems to be able to change.

If there was to be a change at the end, I think it would be Egwene coming to terms with the reality of who her friends have become, and her behavior would change accordingly, not walking back everything she had done. At most, her realization would be "I was mistaken," rather than "I was wrong."

I also have said this in the past, but I believe that Egwene's death, if written by Jordan, would have been the crowning moment of all her ambition to that point, that she would either see it as a "put up or shut up" moment, the time to act on her ambitions to fix the world, but now literally, physically, instead of politically, by her leadership, or as the "pay for it" after "taking what you want" for several books now. I doubt it any congruence with her behavior toward her friends would have occurred to her. Her failure to take Gawyn seriously or respect his agency sent him off on his too-ambitious adventures culminating in his slaying by Demandred, and giving her the pain of a broken warder bond, and possibly, with nothing else to live for. She's no longer close with any of her old friends, and has even shed many of the friends she took on instead (Moiraine, Siuan, Wise Ones) as she moved onward and upward, and now the one relationship that had been resolved in a way that she could accept it while in her position of power, was lost. I think that sort of thing left her with little inclination to hold on and live. By I don't think it would be anything that occurred to Egwene. If she had the "still fought" montage Rand does ... well, she wouldn't. It's just not in her to recognize or appreciate that sort of thing in other people. But to the extent that she did consider them, it would have been her own conception of them, not who or what they might be considered by a more objective reader or empathetic friend & colleague (i.e. Rand).

TL;DR - It's Egwene's world and they are all just living in it. Her breaking out of that mentality would have had to be a much longer character arc than the sort of changes others figure out about themselves leading up to Tarmon Gaidon. I think within the confines of the series, the most we'd get is her learning to be a more benevolent & accommodating overlord of her personal bubble.

Natal Chart Analysis : Chamber

First of all this is headcanon of mine and im not an expert in analyzing birth charts, i only know little about this so i got some help from my acquiantances. I compared his chart qualities with his lore , his personality and his voice lines in this article. The comparison can be irrelevant on some parts because of my lack of knowledge in English. Please respect even if this doesnt meet with your expectations i have put a lot of effort in this. This is hell of a long article. I have written with some a lot of details and i cut it short, otherwise it would be hell of a long article than it already is. I had to think about general species of the zodiac signs and i found Scorpio as the most suitable zodiac sign to him. I went from his release date (16 November) as reference, and for his birth year all i knew was he is between 25-30 years old. So i calculated every year between 1993-1998. As his birthplace (i dont know if RIOT gave this type of information about this) i went with Paris because i have no idea where he can be born in France. In the end i came to the conclusion that his birthdate and birthplace may be : 13 November 1993 07.10 pm Paris/France

THE SUN IN SCORPIO

I feel like I'm kicking a hornet's nest by answering this, but what is this blog for if not controversial opinions on things.

Just as a quick disclaimer, Soft Wars is obviously a FAN WORK, so I am not trying to attack the author of this series for their chosen interpretations of things, their characterization choices, etc by stating my opinions on this. Everyone is allowed their own opinions and interpretations and tastes and I applaud this work for the well-written epic that it is and the clear impact it's had on the fandom as a whole.

TL;DR at the end under the cut.

With that out of the way, I think it does some things REALLY REALLY WELL, and some things that I like considerably less. As this reply says, it's really high quality writing with some interpretations of characters I don't personally like or agree with (I won't say they're "bad" because just because I don't like something doesn't make it bad).

Firstly, I really love the way Soft Wars chooses to portray the clones, the focus it has on them already HAVING a chosen culture before the Jedi that they've created amongst themselves, a lot of their own independence, and the strong and unique relationships between the different clone characters. Cody does not feel like he could be replaced with Fox or Ponds or Bly and be effectively the same character, for example. They also all have such unique relationships among each other and with their main Jedi counterparts which was really interesting to see. I love me a niche pairing sometimes.

I particularly love the way Fox and Ponds' relationship played out as someone who identifies as asexual and at least a little aromantic, too. I also really like the way Obi-Wan's sensitivity to touch is handled within his relationship with Cody and how respectful Cody is of that, it's one of my favorite aspects of that relationship in Soft Wars.

That being said, I'm not the BIGGEST fan of the way the Jedi are portrayed all the time. Sometimes it's really great, and I do like it! It's by no means ANTI Jedi, there is no virulent hatred aimed at the Jedi in the narrative. But it absolutely falls into the category of showcasing the Jedi as repressed and somewhat complacent and if they just were a little more Mandalorian, a little more like Anakin, they could've saved themselves from genocide and they'd just be generally happier and healthier people.

This obviously makes itself MOST known with the way the relationship between Rex and Anakin (and Obi-Wan to some degree) gets treated. Rex becomes like Anakin's replacement father-figure because Obi-Wan just didn't quite hit the mark well enough because he's too much of a Jedi and doesn't cater to Anakin's specific needs which is why Anakin falls for Palpatine's manipulations so much. Rex's blatant dislike of Obi-Wan which he BARELY keeps in check and which everybody is aware of because he blames Obi-Wan for Anakin being kind-of a selfish juvenile shithead is... certainly a take on that relationship. Rex tends to give Anakin a lot of advice that I personally see as just obvious normal Jedi philosophy and values as though it's clearly something Anakin wouldn't have learned from the Jedi already.

I'm also not a huge fan of the way Obi-Wan's relationship to Cody plays out in conjunction with the "pledge" to Cody as vod'alor. The fact that Obi-Wan DOESN'T pledge himself to Cody AS A POLITICAL LEADER somehow ends up meaning Obi-Wan doesn't love Cody enough and it's only when Obi-Wan chooses Cody OVER THE JEDI that Obi-Wan is truly... freed? Unrepressed? On his way to a happier way of living life because now he's willing to be in a more typical committed relationship and that's the only way to have a healthy relationship? Obi-Wan choosing Cody and the clones over the Jedi is also what ultimately gets Rex to decide Obi-Wan's not a TOTAL piece of shit and can be saved from his unhealthy toxic Jedi ways.

Then there's Cody apparently blaming MACE for the clones' situation within the GAR. Like I get that the clones would've believed the Jedi had ordered them and all that, but he's literally in a relationship with Obi-Wan who is ON THE COUNCIL and was the one to discover Kamino and the clones and could 1000% tell Cody the truth, and Cody is not presented as though he's kind-of dim and unintelligent or too stubborn to accept the truth, so it feels strange that Cody would hate Mace because he thinks Mace is the reason the clones are "enslaved" to the Republic or whatever. But I will mention here that Mace IS portrayed positively, Cody's dislike of Mace and his choice to blame Mace for their situation is NOT universal since we see a really lovely friendship between Mace and Ponds, so it's not like Mace is at all villainized. It just feels like a strange opinion for Cody to have, especially since it really only makes an appearance once and never gets explored again to my knowledge and Cody's blame seems to rest SOLELY on Mace, not the Jedi or the Council at large.

I don't like the way the Council gets sort-of villainized as a governing body even if its individual members are sometimes treated positively outside of it, specifically through them being pitted against Anakin in particular for no obvious reason. The Deception arc is interpreted as the Council ORDERING Obi-Wan to fake his death and then lie to Anakin about it, when it's stated really really clearly in the episode that the Council itself (or at least Yoda and probably Mace too) don't actually think lying to Anakin is the best idea but that Obi-Wan himself insisted on it for several different reasons, both strategic and personal. Obi-Wan specifically says the Council wants him to "break" Anakin, when a) it's not the Council's idea to begin with in canon, and b) that's not even what Obi-Wan's TRYING to do with this choice in canon.

This theme of pitting the Council against Anakin also comes up in a fic where Obi-Wan "allows" the Council to force Anakin to help Quinlan learn how to go undercover as a slave. It's pointed out by Cody that Quinlan is a perfectly good undercover agent and so he either shouldn't have NEEDED assistance from anyone in figuring out how to act the part or he should have other friends he could go to that could help him learn more that just... aren't Anakin (why it's a better idea to ask a different former slave for advice rather than Anakin who is a trained Jedi with access to mental health care and a lot of support just because Anakin is Anakin and so he's special does not get addressed). The implication here is that the Council just doesn't care about Anakin enough to utilize these options if it's quicker and easier to just use Anakin.

I don't like the way Ki-Adi Mundi is portrayed in Soft Wars, although I have seen a few posts on the author's page about this kind-of addressing some of the critique about the way Ki-Adi is written which... helps. Ki-Adi is apparently someone who gets a LOT of fandom hate for some reason, I assume it's a Legends thing since he's pretty minor in high canon and all of his scenes are pretty generic kindly old man stuff. Since this seems like something that's gotten discussed and brought up a bunch by other people I'm not going to dwell on it.

Soft Wars DOES undo the entire Tusken massacre because it recognizes that's something you either just undo or have to address and deal with and they went with the easier option of just saving Shmi and letting him not massacre an entire village of people down to the last child. I don't have any strong feelings on this honestly, it's clearly the only real way to pretend Anakin's not an irredeemable piece of shit by the time of the Clone Wars. Also the entire point of Soft Wars is to save everybody from death, so saving Shmi is kind-of a necessary thing to do.

You could probably also categorize Soft Wars as one of those stories that acts like if Anakin had just gotten one more lecture from someone about what attachment actually means or that the Jedi actually CAN love blah blah blah that it would've suddenly saved him from going Sith. It's not particularly accurate to how Anakin is written in canon, but it's pretty common to how people who really like Anakin and sympathize with him and relate to him like to write him as a character.

All in all, Soft Wars is exactly what it says it is. It's soft. It's soft towards Anakin, it's soft towards the clones, it's soft towards the war and the worldbuilding. It's definitely worth a read just for the way it handles the clone worldbuilding and the clear impact it has had on the way the clones have been written in fic ever since. At this point, I don't regret reading it but I also don't go back to it very often anymore and there's a reason I didn't rec Soft Wars in my Pro-Jedi Codywan rec list lol.

TL;DR: Soft Wars is not what I would consider fully Pro-Jedi but nor is it anywhere near virulently anti-Jedi and it has some really neat writing for the clones while obviously being really pro-Anakin Skywalker to the point of smoothing out most of his more uncomfortable flaws to make him a more sympathetic and likable character.

I apologize for the sudden disappearance, I had to take some time away from social media. Nothing aimed at me personally, I just get stressed out with it trying to get my attention. I already have to deal with people doing this offline.

Its a new year and I'm being hit up again for knowledge about precious stones around the region. Naturally I'm wary about what I say and to whom, especially after a past incident, so I demand some kind of offering in exchange. Not monetary. The person has to do their research and get to know me first. It's the only way I can be sure I won't get taken advantage of again. I've rejected about three offers now, my gut and past experiences told me they were less than trustworthy.

The one offer I did approve of was a very young kid. Well..they're probably 20, but compared to MY age, that's practically a child. They're the first that young to seek me out, which they said wasn't an easy task. All the info they had on me was a link through a professor in Soccoro, but the information about my whereabouts was outdated, so they had to track down my brother to the local space museum, get a bit of his time, convince him to contact me, agree on a meeting place, then hunt me down up north, got lost going to said meeting spot, but eventually I met with them halfway.

Lol I felt so bad for them. Unlike the other other three, they went about it the long way around. I'm a very private person, made even more elusive since my extended family chooses to ignore my existence being the black sheep, and I've since cut ties with them long ago. So very few know where I am anymore. Top this off, my guard duties are strictly at night, so you can imagine this poor child being a bit apprehensive of meeting me nearly before dawn, since I'm asleep during the day.

But I made it up to them by treating them to the best coffee spot I know, and explained how I operate. We've since been keeping touch, and a few dats ago, they presented me an assortment of high quality tea ordered directly from India, and a beautiful pair of copper bracelets, which I felt was sufficient enough to tell them where they could find fire opal. I'd even take them there if they wish. It's a tad tricky as the road there is completely dirt with many switchbacks. It's very easy to get lost out there, if you know anything about a desert, is that everywhere looks the same. Last thing you want is to waste gas out there trying to find a way out. And there isn't a gas station for miles, or really any civilization.

We'll be going to that location once the snow clears, which might be around March. In the meantime, we'll keep in touch, and I might try to contact that professor they talked to. I know her. I haven't spoken to her in some time, not since her brother was caught up pursuing me. Heh. He was cute, I admit. I have a thing for redheads. Sadly it wouldn't have worked out at the time, I was going through hell with my mom's dysfunctional family drama. That's why I hate large families. Everyone fighting over territory, who's in charge of what, and petty grudges over things that happened centuries ago. I ain't about that shit.

But yeah, that's been going on as well as doing some spring cleaning, looking for paint to renew my room this summer, planting things indoors, cultivating dinoflagellates, and bracing for another winter storm from Colorado. I'm waiting for a shipment of henna as well, been wanting to decorate myself again.

I'm curious about your thoughts on the new album, musically?

I've been trying to come up with lengthier, loftier things to say, as I can imagine it elicits sighs and eyerolls and invite a deeper divide for me to give an ungracious answer, but as of right now, this is the plainest response I can give: I've listened to the album three times, and though I wouldn't go so far as saying "I disliked the experience," it was something I felt that... I was making an effort to do. That is undoubtedly influenced by the phase at large and the highs & lows I've had through it, and unfortunately that's not giving it the strongest springboard for me. That's probably not enough time to form a forever-opinion, and music is something that breathes and rests differently with you the more time you spend with it.

After seeing it live, Cracker Island the song grew on me more, and I think I'd feel comfortable saying I enjoy it a good bit. Silent Running and New Gold are very decent tunes but haven't made an unforgettable impression on me yet, likely as I haven't given anything of this cycle the committed replay slot that tracks from every previous album have had. In a similar vein, musically Skinny Ape sounds good, maybe even among the best melodies, but lyrically I feel incredibly discomforted and distant from it; I struggle putting it to words, especially against such an opposing view in the fandom, and feel I'd only attract more ire for trying to dig at that hole and make it a crater. I'm sorry. Maybe I'll feel differently about it one day. I actually don't mind Oil as much as some critiques I've seen and find it to be one of the more relistenable songs, but I'd agree it's not the best use of Stevie Nicks by far, and Damon's revelation that it wasn't written for a Stevie feature makes sense. Possession Island is alright with me as well, and I can admit it'd be unfair to compare it against Valley of the Pagans as they're clearly aiming for two different atmospheres, but I think the overlap in the setting/subject and obviously the feature makes it difficult not to begin comparing the two, and then it's an impulsive and unwanted slip toward comparing the entire album against others. I think I may like Tarantula, but it's not an overwhelming sort of like. Those are the only tracks I have much of an ear for yet. I'd say The Tired Influencer and Baby Queen are skips for me at the moment, and I feel stupid for putting Tormenta in that pile too, but honestly, they all sort of inhabit slightly different levels of "neutral." More than anything, I'm left with the last lines of our introductory song repeating in my head: Nothing more to say.

I love that Gorillaz is experimental. I love that the sound is ever-changing, and that Damon is free to explore his whims. It hasn't always suited everyone and hasn't always suited me, but that's never felt like a barrier, either. "A feature, not a bug." That's still how I feel about Gorillaz moving forward. There's a predominant sound over this album that isn't so much to my personal taste, and that isn't a statement of objective quality, but it's a statement of-- of music not being an objective thing. Of music almost never being an objective thing. And if that's the beauty of it, the weight and validity it gives to those gut feelings, then it must also be why it's fair to feel out of sync with it. There's a connecting train between us that I've missed, for now. Maybe I'll catch it another time. I haven't given it a fair chance, I think, and I'm not unbiased, I know. Part of me really does want to say that's alright, though. I still have hopes moving forward, in some ways. Maybe not expectations, but... hope shaped by dreaming if not believing.

Something that bothers you to read in RP specifically?

Two big ones would be muses with no discernible faults or weaknesses (the Mary Sue/Gary Stu sort of muse that should be appealing and attractive to everyone. I have chosen not to follow blogs for this very reason: decent writing quality, but too-perfect muses), and quiet/brooding/introspective muses whose threads don't leave much to interact with or respond to. Closely followed by replies that answer questions from your previous reply, but don't add anything else to the thread.

But a Danganron.pa-specific annoyance? DR muses whose talents never factor into their lives. Yes, they're written as being admitted to Hope's Peak Academy based on such-and-such talent, and then the muns...never show them engaging with that talent. Not even schoolwork.

As fun as high school stories can be, the whole point of Hope's Peak, at least in the Main Course, is to gather students who are incredibly skilled in specific talents while aiming to have them be wholly and completely defined by them, in order to obtain the brightest possible future. A secured career for life, money, fame, etc. That's a lot of pressure for a 16 to 18 year old! There's even canon characters who don't want to be defined by their specific talents, and some who want to pursue other interests but due to their status at Hope's Peak, they can't.

And I really wish more DR muns would explore those topics: how did their muse's talents end up shaping their muse? Did they peak in high school? Did they eventually go on to the success the school promised?

This is more of what bothers me not to read in RP, but I think it still qualifies.

This is also why writing more than three replies or starters per day for me is a real achievement. Because each time, I go through this process. I'm sure there's a better way to focus and do things but I've yet to figure it out.

Wow even Jimin had me fooled up until the very last moment. I thought he was genuinely being nice and wanting to spend some actual quality time with y/n. But now it makes sense why all the other brothers have been so weary of him when it comes to her. He’s destructive and chaotic at best, and I still can’t believe his kink is necrophilia. Hoseok’s reaction was appropriate. We already know how protective he is of y/n and what he did to Jiyoo is a living testimony of that, so Jimin should’ve known better. Well, at least Jimin was smart enough not to take things any further physically. Despite his scheming ways he’s still loyal to his brothers at the end of the day so perhaps that counts for something. Also it’s interesting how Hoseok hesitated to satisfy y/n’s “needs” given the circumstances. Basically he doesn’t mind using his own venom to satisfy any sexual urges, but Jimin’s is off limits? I wonder if it’s a territorial thing or if he was simply concerned about y/n not being in the right /consenting/ headspace.

I wonder if other brothers have distinct characteristics with their own venom too? Seeing as how Hoseok’s is pure euphoria and Jimin’s unbridled lust. Also if any of them have special powers like Namjoon being able to turn a human to a vampire.

Finally, anons wanting y/n to sleep with Namjoon feels like a line that shouldn’t even be crossed. Given the way he acted to Jimin using his venom on her I can’t imagine how absolutely maddening he’d react if one of his brothers were to actually go further than that. I’m afraid it’d be a true blood bath. Hoseok’s sense of smell is already sensitive as is towards a simple kiss between them, and that’s already crossing the line. So I can’t even begin imagine how he’d react to other more intimate places of her smelling like his brother.

Jimin really tricked Y/N into believing that he was nice despite the fact that she was warned about him. He can be really mean because he finds it funny and yes the necrophilia! Now we know why Jungkook hates the smell of the women he brings home. It's because they're dead.

Hoseok did what anyone would have done. He has his issues but punching Jimin was the best course of action. At least for me it was lol. It's not the first time Jimin has done something stupid. He likes messing with people. He's a bit sadistic if you think about it, but he does have his loyalty to his brothers that keeps him from getting into too much trouble.

Hoseok hesitated to help Y/N because he knew she was like this because of Jimin and not because he did something to her. It was a bit of a turn off for him but he went through with it because she really needed the help. So far the rest of the brothers have similar saliva to Hoseok. They are of varying states of high. Seokjin though is a little different. If you take too much of his saliva in one sitting it can cause hallucinations. As for special abilities we know Hoseok can control minds and Namjoon can turn people. Taehyung can alter people's emotions so he can calm, agitate, or make someone happy. Interesting that he can seeing as he's the one who gets angered easily.

If Hoseok were to ever find out Namjoon and Y/N had sex... I don't even want to think about it. He would never kill his brother but he'll definitely do damage. The type Namjoon would probably have to take a lot of time to heal from. And Y/N will probably never see the light of day ever again, but is it a risk she and Namjoon are willing to take? I have no idea but we'll see!

Hey, so about your post where you were talking about "how do we improve mental health systems"?

First off, I'll be honest, just didn't have the brainpower to parse this many words today, but I support the general ideas I was picking up with it. Cause like, when I was 18 and in college I talked to someone about being suicidal, and I ended up in in patient but... well two things

One is when I was having the intake I happened to say that my mom was a bitch, and the lady doing the intake I hear talking on her radio saying that she has someone possibly violent, so I just changed my whole tune and became the model patient for the rest of the weekend

The second is that while everyone else there was awesome, man would I never go back into in patient. It's bad for me, it's just dead time. I can't work on anything or play or anything meaningful, and there's a total loss of freedom to set your schedule and stuff. They were great there, a real high quality facility... it would be better if I killed myself than went back

So even if I couldn't really read the whole thing, I think I like the direction you're aiming for

You asked what people wanted to see, and it seemed like it wasn't just about medical professionals, but also the ideas around community, so maybe this fits

All I want is when I talk about not doing well that people maybe... talk with me instead of just being like "I hope you can get some professional help", cause I've had a lot of professional help over the years, and I think pretty much all of them would rather I have some peers instead, cause in my case a lot of my problems are my extreme isolation

Like... I'm not saying it would cure me, but just... you know... having someone tell me why they like me... you know... ever, that might help

Cause... people act like they like me, even say they like me, and I have no choice but to trust them... but... hmm, not the place to dump a whole life story, but there's stuff that's probably pretty textbook childhood neglect, a lot of having to be my mom's parent, that sort of thing... and it just leaves me feeling totally worthless

I don't see a single scrap of value to me, and it's not like I could internalize it, but... man... if people instead of telling me to go get professional help told me reasons why they'd miss me, that would help a lot more

So to summarize, I guess what I'd like to see from community is diminishing this fear that'll we'll break people if we say the wrong thing, and instead just telling people around us that we like them and why

Like, I find that just hitting people around me with simple "I'm proud of you, you're doing a good job" even tends to have a real good effect cause... most people are starving for that kind of validation cause no one ever says it to anyone

I think this really does touch on why a lot of suicide prevention why have in place now is insufficient. It deals with the crisis of "I have a plan and intent now" by quarantining people in a supervised place until that passes - which in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing if done consensually and in ways that involve real care, real support, and real activity for the person involved, but can be detrimental if experienced as it often happens and as you describe.

If instead we were able to meet suicidal people's chronically unmet needs in the community, however, there might be far less need to ever have this kind of crisis intervention, and it might be able to be transformed into a very different experience since it would have such a limited use case.
