Turns out I just like making Dick suffer so
The one where everyone finds out Bruce kicked Dick out
I love aging Dick down a bit at the end of yj season 2 so he’s still in high school idk why. Like 15ish. I like the drama. The absolute heartbreak of it all. The punch in the gut everyone must feel when they remember the guy who was leading them through the invasion, who they gave such a hard time to for things mostly out of his control, who was spread so thin he almost snapped in half, was a fifteen year old AP student at Gotham Academy who somehow had the time to cover for Batman, lead the team, go undercover with Deathstroke to backup Kaldur, help Tim with his Robin training, and basically come up with the plans that saved the world all while doing math homework and studying for English tests.
So once all the League members are back on Earth and everything settles down, Bruce and Dick have a huge falling out. Bruce criticizes him for everything he did that wasn’t up to Bruce’s standards. He wasn’t a good enough Batman, he wasn’t a good enough leader, he shouldn’t have gone undercover as Renegade, he should have trained more with Tim, he should have gotten better grades. Dick felt like he was drowning under all the expectations, and he they got into a huge fight in the Batcave while Tim was upstairs with Alfred, blissfully unaware.
It wasn’t a particularly long fight, but it was heated, angry, and bloody - more so for Dick than Bruce. Dick may have been able to get a good few hits in, but he couldn’t bring himself to fight back against his dad. Or at least who he thought was his dad. But Bruce has no problem bringing up that he never adopted Dick, he had given him plenty, and he’ll continue paying for school but Dick needs to leave. Immediately. He can’t have a protege who can’t take orders, who’s subpar.
Dick feels like his insides are covered in ice. He’s leaning against the wall, gasping, sucking in air while blood drips down his face. Bruce has already left, Dick doesn’t know where to. But Dick is told not to be here by the time he gets back. He cleans up just enough to go upstairs, avoid Tim and Alfred, and quickly pack a couple bags. Just the essentials. A few sentimental things. His school stuff. His emergency cash.
Then he goes back to the cave and packs a whole bag full of tactical gear, gadgets, weapons. He takes his Nightwing suit, but he’s not sure he’ll even wear it. Looking at it just makes him sick right now.
He sets up in a safe house and resolutely doesn’t let himself start to breakdown. It will just make things more difficult. He grabs a first aid kit, sits in the bathroom, and is very methodical of how he takes care of any cuts and bruises and breaks.
It’s only a couple fingers that are broken anyway, and they’re in his left hand. It will be fine.
His lip is busted and his nose and left eye are bruised to hell, but he still has a week before school starts back up, that’s plenty of time for it to go down. He can just say he got into a fight, or was mugged or something. No one will care.
He plans on graduating at the end of the next semester anyway. He’s taken extra classes and two years of summer school for a reason. He won’t be valedictorian or anything, but he doesn’t particularly care all that much. He’d rather just be done with it.
Dick spends the next few months totally isolated. He goes to school, he trains in his safe house, and he works his own cases. He stays away from the Bat, from the Justice League, from the team. No one tries reaching out. No one calls him. He tells himself he likes it that way.
He has a night job at a seedy bar around the corner from his safe house where he goes by the name Gray Johnson, the owner not even looking at all the fake documentation Dick put together. And it turns out, he kinda likes being Gray. No one looks at him twice, no one questions him. A couple of the cooks always send him home with extra food because he stopped some rowdier customers from harassing the waitresses, and then a few weeks later stopped a robber before he could even pull his gun.
The other workers like Gray, the regulars like Gray, the owner likes Gray. It’s so much easier to pretend he really is Gray, to pretend Dick never even existed.
And if one of the cooks and a bartender and the owner see right through the shitty alias and recognize him as Bruce Wayne’s estranged ward? Well, no one ever says anything.
A few months later, Dick graduates from Gotham Academy. He’s ranked 8th in the class. He doesn’t attend the ceremony, but he picks up the diploma from the front office instead of opting to mail it to his address on file. He refuses to go back to the manor for anything.
He relocates to Blüdhaven, gets a job at a new bar with a stellar reference from his previous boss, and starts worming his way into the Blüdhaven underground to gather his own intel.
It’s almost a year after the invasion before anyone tries contacting him.
He’d been working all night, going straight into a stakeout after working a shift at the bar. The stakeout led to a fight, which led to a nasty bruise on Dick’s jaw, a busted lip, and only a slight limp. He’ll be fine, he just needs to sleep it off.
So naturally that’s when he finally receives a message on the JL communicator he doesn’t even know why he keeps. It’s a single world message. Watchtower.
He gags over the toilet for twelve minutes, tries using mouthwash only to immediately spit it out when it makes his lip sting, and then uses a handful of sink water to swallow down some painkillers before leaving.
The Watchtower was a shit show when he arrived. People running around, shouting at each other, monitors flickering between different security camera pictures and videos. Dick thinks the world must be ending or something, he’s immediately on edge and pushes every emotion into a box in his head and locks it up tight. He refuses to be a liability.
“What’s going on?” He asks when Artemis almost walks right past him. And the room freezes.
“Oh my God, Dick!” she cries, and she launches herself at him, hugging him tight. Everyone turns to them, and Dick feels like a bug under a microscope.
“Hey,” he greets her, a hand patting her back awkwardly. “What’s - uh - what’s happening? I got a message to come here?”
“What’s - what’s happening?” she repeats, pulling back from him to stare at him. Then she hits him in the chest, and he tries his best not to think abt the way his ribs were stomped on not an hour ago. “You’ve been missing, you asshole! No one has seen you in months!”
He winces a bit when she hits his chest again, and he takes a step away from her, just barely catching the way her face falls.
“I’m confused,” he admits. And several others are inching closer to him now, he feels like he’s being boxed in. “I didn’t - I wasn’t hiding or anything. No one called me until today.”
“That can’t be true,” someone - maybe Conner? - says. “Your last log is from the day of the invasion. That was a year ago.”
“Yeah.” Dick feels a little breathless. “So?”
They’re all quiet, and he hates the way he can feel them staring at him. At the bruising on his face. At the way he’s favoring his right leg. At the way the Nightwing suit is a bit looser than it had been a year ago, his hair a bit longer and messier. He knows he looks like shit. He doesn’t need them to point it out.
“Dick?” M’gann asks. “What happened?”
Dick doesn’t speak for a moment, trying to figure out what exactly she’s asking. He hates the way everyone is still staring at him. He hates the way Batman is lingering in the back.
“What do you want from me?” His voice is soft as he asks, almost afraid of what their answer will be. He’s suddenly so tired. He just wants to go to bed.
“We want to know why you dropped off the face of the Earth,” someone says harshly. “Batman said he hadn’t seen you since a couple days after the invasion. Wanna tell us why you left?”
“Why I left?” Dick repeats, the words bouncing around his head. Then he snaps his neck to glare at Bruce and spits out, “Why don’t you ask him yourself?”
“What, you guys had another fight so you disappeared for a year?”
“Fuck you, Tim,” Dick snaps. “You have no clue what you’re talking about, so just shut the fuck up!”
The anger, the rage, the despair, the abandonment that he’d buried since he left the manor all comes crashing back, and he feels like he’s drowning, like he can’t catch his breath.
“You all think I look bad now? I’m practically peachy compared to how he left me last time!”
“Dick, this is not-“
“Fuck you!” Dick’s chokes out, his voice cracking. “If you didn’t want them knowing, you shouldn’t have let them call me up here! What, did you not want them to know that you beat the shit outta me last time we talked? That you pointed out that you conveniently never adopted me and then kicked me out while I was still bleeding on the fucking floor? Was that a secret?”
The gasps from around the room don’t register in his head, he doesn’t see the shocked faces from everyone around him, all he can see is the way Batman’s expression grows darker and darker under the cowl.
“Sorry to be such an inconvenience for you,” Dick drawls out, backing up towards the zeta tubes. “I know you were so embarrassed to have such a subpar protege, but don’t worry, I won’t get in your way ever again. Not like anyone here actually wants me around anyway.”
He hates the way his voice shakes with that last sentence. He hadn’t actually meant to say it out loud, but his arms are tingling and his lungs feel both too full and too empty at the same time, and he just wants to leave before Batman decides to come any closer to him.
He turns back to the zeta tubes to go back home before any of the several voices from behind him can finish what they’re saying. His head is swimming and his eyes can’t focus on anything. He rushes home, tearing off his suit and scrubbing the rest of the dirt and blood and grime off before he remembers the JL communicator still sitting on his couch.
He chucks it across the room. Twice. Then stomps on it for good measure.
Then he finally falls into bed just as the sun rises. And if his pillow is getting damp beneath his face as he tries to block out the light, well, he’ll just flip it over and pretend it’s fine.

Can I please have a Twilight x Student Fem! Reader? It can be pony or human, and it can be platonic or romantic. You're a great writer!
♡~ Twilight Sparkle x Student!Fem! Reader ~♡

Context/Summary: Twilight's your teacher/tutor? Idk, but she has a CRUSH ON YOU! Gasp!
Category: Headcanons || One-shot? || FLUFF FLUFF FLUFFF
AWAAWAWAAA THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH 😭‼️ Sorry if this isn't that good lol, I don't simp for Twi too much HOWEVER writing this DEFINITELY made me LOVE HER MORE!!! I hope I interpreted your request alright as well!
Romantic and Pony version :3
Twilight didn't mean to fall for you. I mean, you were her student! It was "unprofessional" to date you!
But the way you asked her so many questions... and got excited about magic... the way your ears perked up when she explained something... It made her heart EXPLODE.
When she fully realized she had a crush on you it was PANIC MODE. Stuttering, avoiding eye contact, blushing CONSTANTLY, you name it!
“Ahem, this spell is u-uh… relatively simple! Yes! Totally simple… wow you’re pretty- I mean! Pretty PRECISE!”
When she's grading your papers she definitely starts the accidentally doodle little hearts, and then PANICS when she realizes you're going to see it
(To be honest you already probably knew she had a crush on you 💀)
Keeps trying to rationalize her feelings like a science experiment or a math problem (SHES SO CUTE AAAAA)
I think she's such a nerd that she'll confess with a LETTER.
Before one of your study sessions, she slips it next to you and stands there while you read it, fidgeting her hooves NERVOUSLY.
“I-I couldn’t find the right words... and I know this might be inappropriate or uncomfortable... but I had to say something..."
When you confess back and kiss her on the cheek, she short-circuits. (She's so adorable I'm crying 😭)
Study sessions are just mini-dates at this point.
Her wing will sneak around your shoulder as she rambles and explains various complex magic topics
If you tell her to slow down, she ACTUALLY will! She cares SOOOO much about if you really are learning or not! (even if you are her girlfriend)
Checks up on your well-being like CRAZY.
"Alright, today we’re learning about enchantments... but more importantly! Did you eat? Are you okay? Do you want to just talk for a bit?”
When you do good on a test she gets SO HAPPY!! Be careful because she might accidentally explode something with her magic from excitement...
If you’re sad? She brings you like five books, a blanket, and her whole heart
“You’re more than a student to me... You always have been. You’re my everything... Please don't forget that? Do you need me to write it down for you or...?
She'll read to you and ramble if that calms you down
Definitely lets you snuggle up against her... her adorable pounding heart ringing in your ear...
She cares about you a lot... like A LOT A LOT. Just remember to remind her how much you love her too? Please? She needs it...
AAAAAAAA SORRY IF THIS ISN'T TOO GOOD I KINDA FORGOT HOW TO WRITE TWILIGHT BUT SHHHHH!!! I hope you liked it and sorry for the wait! 😭

Love your high school AU! How would you rank the LIs with respect to their overall academic performance and considering how much they actually care about it? (I feel like Zayne would be first place but Sylus is kinda competitive so...)
Oooh I love this question!
Smarts-wise, Sylus and Zayne are neck-and-neck. They have different kinds of genius. Sylus is intuitive and Zayne is methodical.
I think Sylus is simply too ADHD to care enough about grades to have his GPA reflect his intelligence, though. 😂 Teachers that vibe with him (by having reasonable and non-shitty policies) would be giving him A+ across the board, whereas in other classes if he thinks the homework is stupid he's just not going to do it. So he'd be the classic student where the teachers bemoan that he's "not living up to his potential". But he writes some damn good poetry.
Now Zayne, on the other hand--give him a rule and he's going to follow it. The man simply cannot do anything half way, and he's masochistic enough to do what needs to be done to get the grades (lookin' at you, med school). As a quintessential type five, he simply will not rest until he knows All The Things. The grade is secondary--if he can't ace the test, then he doesn't know All The Things and so he must study more.
Caleb's the one that's going to get really competitive. He's as ADHD as Sylus, but you think he's gonna let pipsqueak see Zayne be better at something than him without a fight? Hell no! Caleb will be casual about it at all times, of course, but as we know from Pathless Realms he was a top student at the Aerospace Academy. He's also going to subtly avoid topics he might not be as good at, packing his schedule with things that come easily to him. (Very type seven of him.)
I'm totally blanking on who made it, but I saw a lil comic about Zayne and Caleb where Zayne had no idea he was top of the class and Caleb was checking the rankings daily and trying to give Zayne a hard time, but Zayne was totally oblivious, and I just thought that was spot on. 😂
Xavier is definitely next up--he's mentioned that he got good grades in subjects he cared about, but not the others. So, he's up there, but def has a B- or a C+ floating around in there 😂 He's also maybe fallen asleep during a midterm or two...
Then we hav our dear fishie. Rafayel is as averse to being told what to do as Sylus, but completely unmotivated by status or money. Any time spent in class is time not spent on art. Any time studying is time not spent on art. Why exactly do I have to do anything that's not art? seems dumb. I'm sure he's got his teachers begging him to turn in the extra credit assignments so they don't have to fail him for the year because wow yeah his art is incredible.
It's not that Rafayel isn't smart. He picks up on more than people realize--as his teachers find when they try to call him out for doodling in the back of class and he immediately gives a complete and correct answer. But if he got really into a painting this week, yeah he's gonna skip the homework. And maybe he'll put in an effort for 70% of the test, but that's probably good enough, and he's gonna circle C for the rest of the questions and go back to doodling (probably MC) in the margins of his notebook.
Art history though? He can teach that class--and he does. Substitute teacher who? Just say something vaguely controversial and you can't stop Rafayel from talking about it. All that math stuff is for someone else to figure out. (Poor Thomas 😂)
Rafayel is also 100% going to pretend to be confused to get MC to tutor him. "I don't get it, can you explain it again?" (He already aced the homework last week.) Being doted on by her sweet, earnest, diligent efforts to explain? A million times better than getting A's.
So it's definitely Zayne > Caleb > Xavier right at the top of the class rankings.
Then, whether Sylus or Rafayel have worse grades depends a lot on whether Sylus sees an opportunity to drop out and start his own business. Why compete with other high school students for a piece of paper when you can be out there making real money, y'know?
If they both manage to graduate, they're pretty even in terms of DGAF energy 😂 But they'd also both be way higher in the class rankings than other people expect. The delinquent and the artist who never does his homework in the top 25%? What? How!

|Hi, guys!! This was fun, but super hurried, so sorry if it's bad. Short High School Broppy AU!!:)|
Poppy was the popular kid.
Every guy wanted to be the first one to her chair to pull it out for her, or the first one to the stairs to help her down them (and maybe sneak a little kiss onto her soft pink hand) and everyone always wanted to be the first at lunch to offer her lunch money.
Poppy was a princess. Literally. The king's daughter. But there was also a special something about her that made her stand out to everyone. Maybe her selflessness, or maybe her desire for good in the world, or maybe it was just that she played hard to get.
She had always had a lot of boyfriends. But she didn't really have true feelings for any except for one.
Creek.
The coolest kid in school, next to her of course. If everyone didn't admire him so much, they'd probably hate him for stealing their queen all the time. They were always on dates, posting about each other, talking about each other.
Creek was a supposedly sweet guy with an adorable accent. Poppy was the precious princess who completed his life.
It all seemed right.
Until it wasn't.
Poppy had broken up with him.
No one knew why, not even Creek himself. But he was going to find out.
~~
And in the midst of this, was Branch.
Branch wasn't the total nerd of school, no, Archer was that.
But he was close. In science class he built cool robots instead of doing experiments, and he was always testing his creations on his teacher.
Branch was known, however, for always bringing bad luck. His machines exploded, the water fountain sprayed in his face, the toilet was clogged when he walked into the bathroom stall (it wasn't him, he swears!), and nothing ever seemed to go right for this blue troll.
Branch was technically the laughing stock of the school. He would walk in and everyone would point at him and chuckle. But they enjoyed his company. Branch was one of the people who kept school interesting, and kept them laughing (even if it was at him) though they'd never admit it.
But he ignored it all. He kept his blue eyes down as he walked down the halls, opened his lockers, and got ready to go to class.
Usually, if he ignored them, no one really bothered him.
But one guy who couldn't resist poking fun at him was always Creek.
And, since Poppy broke up with him, he had gotten worse.
"Getting ready to ace math class again, Mr. Teacher's Pet?" Creek teased, leaning against and shutting Branch's locker.
"Yes, actually. Counts for half of our grade this semester." Branch raised an eyebrow at him. "Or did you already know that?"
He knew Creek didn't.
Creek flushed, sputtering. "Don't be dumb! Of course I knew that! I- uh, I'll be right back! Don't move, Toilet Timmy."
So while Creek went off to persuade someone to give him their answers for the math test he didn't study for, "Toilet Timmy" went off to math, and sat beside his table partner.
"Hi, Branch!" Poppy greeted enthusiastically.
"Hi, Princess Poppy," Branch replied, getting his schoolwork ready and avoiding her eye contact at all times.
Poppy's eyes lowered in annoyance. "I told you already, just call me Poppy."
Branch's response was just a grunt, and Poppy frowned to herself and turned away, glaring at the floor and wondering why she even tried.
Branch stared at the floor and wondered why she tried too.
Branch had never ever had a real conversation with his "math buddy". He wouldn't survive it. All the kids teased him about "making a move" and all that, but he'd break down if he even looked her straight in the eyes.
Her pretty magenta eyes were always sparkling in a way that annoyed him immensely- but also made his legs turn into jell-o.
It wasn't a crush, he told himself. Calm down.
The fact that he was sitting there, however, in the middle of class, flushing while thinking about her eyes was enough to prove him wrong.
He groaned and yanked his hair down over his ears.
"Branch, do you have something to say?" The teacher turned to him, grumpy.
"Er- uhhh, no?" Branch could feel the stares and the giggles of the class around him. But through his peripheral vision, he could see Poppy minding her own business, squinting hard at her work.
Thank goodness.
He turned back to his work and studied the question wothout really thinking about it.
If the moon goes around the earth once a day, and the speed of a cheetah is 201 mph- how many marbles has Martha eaten in her lifetime?
Branch was usually good at these odd questions, but his gaze kept drifting over to Poppy's paper.
She was writing "idk" under almost all the questions.
Branch sighed. As her math buddy, technically she was supposed to ask him for help, but she was probably still mad at him from earlier.
He pointed at problem 23. "The answer is A = Pi, not- whatever those random jumble of letters are that you wrote down." He lifted an eyebrow at her paper as he whispered.
"Pie?" Poppy was surprised. "I didn't read anything about pie in the word problem."
"That's because there isn't anything about pie in the word problem."
"But you just said-"
"Look, just trust me, alright?" Branch immediately turned to his own paper again.
He felt her gaze on his back and frowned harder. "What do you want?"
"Where do you live?"
A weird question, but a harmless one. She was the princess, after all.
"On 556 Wood-Oak Road. Why?" His pencil kept scribbling, his handwriting wobbly.
"Oh, I've just always wanted to go to that ice cream place right near Wood-Oak Road. You know, Snowy's? And I was hoping you could go with me?"
This time Branch sat up and looked at her, his blue eyes piercing in fustration through her pink ones.
She was just teasing him now. It wasn't funny.
"Poppy, I am not taking you on a date."
"Date?! I hope we're talking about number dates and not romance, Branch! I am sure Poppy does not have time for that!" the teacher told him.
Giggles burst throughout the room ad both Branch and Poppy completely reddened and shrunk down in their seats.
Poppy slid a piece of her notepad paper over to him.
He leaned over it and read: Please?
Was she asking him actually to-
He turned to her. He frowned.
She grinned in return.
~~
Branch had never really thought Poppy thought anything of him. He figured that to her he was just there.
But as soon as they walked into the ice cream shop, that changed.
Poppy immediately started blabbing to him happily, giggling to herself occasionally, making jokes, and having fun as she sipped her milkshake.
Branch rarely said anything. He just stared at her, watching and confused.
What was he even doing here?
Poppy's smile, her carefree manner, was enough to blow him away. She had just casually asked her math partner out after just breaking up with her boyfriend, and was here talking her heart out, as happy as a sparrow.
Branch thought he knew what was happening. After he found a silence, he took it as a chance to tell her, "I'm not going to be his replacement, you know."
"Huh?" Poppy jumped, surprised.
"Creek. You're trying to find a new boyfriend, right? One you can mess around with to help you get over Creek." He frowned and crossed his arms. "I'm not doing it."
Poppy was quiet for a second, shocked, before she began to giggle. "Branch, that's not what this is about. I broke up with Creek, remember? Not vice versa."
"Well, what are we doing here?" Branch continued to scowl. "You've always been friendly to me, yes, but not this friendly. And I have never been friendly to you, so this doesn't make sense."
"You bought my milkshake. That was friendly," Poppy told him.
"I mean before today!" Branch raked his fingers through his hair. "This is a bet, isn't it? How much are you getting paid?"
"I'm a princess."
That was a good point. "Then why did you ask me to take you here? Me? The Toilet Timmy guy. The Master-less of Machines? Only some of the names I'm called at school started from mistakes I've done in front of you, and you aren't unimpressed?" His tone went from irritated to confused.
"I just wanted to hang out with you. You're a super nice guy. I could...feel it." She shrugged. "Didn't think you'd take offense to it."
"Yeah, well, sometimes your feelings are wrong." Branch didn't know what he was saying at this point, but he had to get out of- whatever spot this was.
No girl had asked him out before, especially a pretty, popular, sweet-
"Are you trying to get rid of me?" Her question made him stop in his tracks. Her voice sounded hurt and her face looked a bit worried. "It seems like you're always trying to be mean and push me away... On purpose."
Branch watched her carefully. That was exactly what he was doing. But suddenly, it didn't feel like the totally right thing to do anymore.
He sighed and rubbed his shoulder. "Look, the truth is- I don't know how to sort out my feelings right now. You make me want to pull my hair out- but in a good way, almost?" He shrugged. "That was a bad example."
Poppy giggled lightly. "Yeah." She thought for a bit. "You have always been fascinating to me, Branch. And as we continued to work together in a few classes, my interest in you has grown. You make me want to punch a hole in the walls sometimes- but you also make me feel all bubbly inside. Almost- happy."
She cleared her throat. "That's um... how I used to feel about Creek. Now when I'm near him, I just want to punch the wall."
"That makes two of us," Branch attempted at a joke, and they both laughed.
"I didn't know if it was a crush or not, and I didn't want to risk crushing on someone else while dating, so... I broke up with Creek."
Branch's eyes widened. He was why she broke up with Creek?!
"Do you-" he gulped, "- have a crush on me?" Why was he hoping she'd say yes?
Poppy smiled shyly. "I don't know," was her honest answer. "But how about we start from here and work our way forward?" And she leaned over and kissed his cheek.
As quickly as she did it, she jumped off of her seat and dashed out of the uilding, squealing all the way.
He'd see her tomorrow. And he was...excited?
Branch's whole face was glowing red now, and he pulled his hair over his ears again.
Erughhh...yup. It was official.
He did have a crush.

JOHN PRESTON x yn.
how would john react if he were to fall for you? head-canons:
he notices it like a glitch in the matrix. catastrophic.
- love doesn’t come to preston like a blooming thing. it arrives like a rupture. like a misfired round. like the tremor before a building falls.
- it’s subtle, at first — the way his hand lingers too long beside yours, the way he watches you when you aren’t looking, not for suspicion — for confirmation.
- and then it hits him: he cares. you, specifically. singularly.
- and caring is dangerous. caring is treason. he’s fucked and he know it.
he isolates immediately.
he pulls away. not out of cruelty — but preservation. not yours — his. because you represent something uncontainable. not a distraction — a total ideological dismantling.
- he stops speaking as much. turns his face slightly when you enter a room. yet, he doesn’t ignite himself in the morning anymore.
- and you think he’s grown cold — but inside, his equilibrium has shattered. he’s terrified he’ll look at you and give everything away.
he logs it like a threat.
- in his mind, you become a file. a surveillance feed. a classified variable.
he runs mental risk analyses. plays out scenarios:
what if someone else notices he looks at you too long?
what if your records are pulled for questioning?
what if he’s forced to choose between you and the system?
- his body goes cold with the math of it.
proximity betrays him.
- one morning, your fingers graze his glove as you hand him something, and he stills. not dramatically — just frozen, like the system inside him glitches for half a second.
- and he looks at your face, really looks, and he feels it again. warmth. like a fever he never allowed himself to notice before.
- you smile gently, and he forgets what he was supposed to say.
he tries to eliminate the possibility.
- he avoids you, methodically. reassigns you to distant posts. uses clinical excuses. keeps you off joint missions.
- and when that doesn’t work, he files internal reports on himself — coded and anonymized — to see if there are patterns being flagged.
- when the database shows nothing, he doesn’t relax. it only makes him more paranoid.
- because it means he’s hiding it too well. and that means the feeling is growing.
he tests himself cruelly.
- he exposes himself to others in distress: people begging, crying, pleading — to see if he reacts.
when he feels nothing for them, but still thinks about you…he knows.
- this isn’t just a chemical imbalance. you are the catalyst.
- and he is failing the system.
he prepares a contingency.
- a hidden space where you could run. an identity forged. records scrubbed.
- he never tells you. never plans to use it. but it exists. in case someone else finds out. in case he has to choose between handing you over or betraying the government.
- and he knows what he’ll do. he’ll do it for you.
you become his anchor and his test.
- he trains harder. shoots more precisely. moves with almost robotic discipline — all in the name of regaining control.
but the thoughts creep in: what would your voice sound like if you whispered just to him? would your breath hitch if he touched your cheek? would you smile if he said your name softly?
- he meditates. fasts. anything to erase the image. it doesn’t work. your presence follows him like a pulse.
when he confesses, it’s not romantic. it’s reverent.
- it’s not a declaration. it’s a submission. the words feel foreign in his mouth: “i care for you.”
they don’t sound right. they’re not enough.
- his voice is flat, but his hands shake. his shoulders twitch — a man trying to hold back centuries of indoctrination. “you are… the first thing that feels real.”
after that — you are sacred. untouchable.
- he doesn’t flaunt it. doesn’t press. he just protects. instinctively. he stands between you and any threat, without words, without glory.
- he listens more. touches less. studies your smallest reactions like they’re scripture.
- he doesn’t say “i love you.” he shows it when he places his gun between you and danger, without blinking.

How I kept my 4.0 through junior year with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
General CI stuff:
Sleeping when I'm tired. This advice sounds stupid, but lock-in culture makes losing sleep seem like a virtue. I have never performed better for pulling an all-nighter. They make me worse physically. When I'm tired, I also tend to be drawn to passive activities like scrolling, and I have less drive to study. It's 99% of the time worth it to take the L and sit a test refreshed than to try to cram overnight.
Getting used to studying everywhere and anywhere. I've studied in the hospital. I've studied in outpatient waiting rooms. I've studied in turbulence. It's odd, because this thing isn't even something I started doing consciously, but it's totally saved me. Novel environments almost help me lock in.
Having the courage to ask for help. I regularly need extensions, and when I've asked politely, all but one of my teachers have said yes. I think the trick here is a bit of good delivery and a bit of choosing your battles. When I think I can make a deadline with some very hard work and inconvenience, I push myself to make it, so I'm able to only ask for those extensions when I really need them. This being said, though--
Not everybody has to know exactly what's going on. At first, I had a lot of anxiety about explaining my health condition, but I started noticing when I didn't 'open the book,' even if some people (including teachers) were obviously still curious, I could avoid it. When people started asking why I was out for xyz amount of time, instead of going into detail about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or my hospital stay, I could just say I had a health situation and most people with any amount of basic decorum let it be. I struggled doing this to teachers at first, because I thought if they were expected to accomodate me, they were entitled to my personal medical information, but I eventually found leaving people with truthful but surface-level answers was what work best for me.
EDS-specific stuff:
I can't write for shit, my hands are too hypermobile. I have computer use on all assignments in my 504 plan, but a lot of teachers either don't fully digitize their curriculum or it's way less effective to study totally on a screen. I use a laptop, but a tablet is definitely a better way to work around this problem. In subjects like math, where paper is the only way to go, I self-accomodate with OT-prescribed finger braces and felt tip pens. Since you don't have to apply as much pressure with the latter as you do with a pencil, they make a world of difference.
Can't lie, Zofran is the reason I was able to attend probably a half the days I did.
Got a total of four really bad ankle sprains this year and one patellar dislocation. Having a pair of forearm crutches just lying around for when I can't bear weight is such a game changer. I am so much faster on them than conventional crutches, and they don't kill your armpits.

GRE Score Range: What’s a Good GRE Score?
If you’re planning to study abroad, especially in the U.S., the GRE is likely part of your application journey. Whether you're self-preparing or taking GRE coaching in ahmedabad, one common question always comes up: What’s a good GRE score? Understanding how the GRE is scored and what score you should aim for can really help you set clear goals.
In this blog, we’ll break down the GRE score range, what’s considered a good score, and how it affects your university applications.
GRE Score Breakdown
The GRE has three main sections, and each has its own scoring:
Verbal Reasoning: 130–170
Quantitative Reasoning: 130–170
Analytical Writing: 0–6
Your total GRE score is the sum of the Verbal and Quant sections. The Analytical Writing section is scored separately.
So, the total GRE score range is: 260 to 340
What is a Good GRE Score?
What counts as a “good” GRE score really depends on where you're applying. But here’s a general idea:
Score Range
Performance Level
330 – 340
Excellent
320 – 329
Very Good
310 – 319
Good
300 – 309
Average
Below 300
Below Average
For top universities, you’ll likely need a score above 320. Mid-level universities often accept scores in the 300–310 range.
Section-Wise Targets
Verbal Reasoning: A score above 160 is considered strong, especially if you’re applying to programs in humanities or social sciences.
Quantitative Reasoning: A score above 165 is excellent for STEM programs like engineering, data science, or math-heavy courses.
Analytical Writing: Most schools look for a score of 4.0 or higher.
Percentiles: Why They Matter
GRE scores also come with percentiles. A percentile shows how your score compares to others:
A 90th percentile in Verbal means you scored better than 90% of test-takers.
Percentiles help universities compare applicants easily.
How to Set Your Target GRE Score
To figure out what GRE score you should aim for, look at the average scores accepted by the universities or programs you're applying to. Many universities list this on their websites.
If your dream school has an average GRE score of 320, then that’s your goal. If it’s 310, you can aim accordingly. Always try to meet or exceed the average score of your target programs.
Tips to Improve Your GRE Score
Know the Format – Understand the test pattern and types of questions.
Practice Regularly – Daily practice helps you build confidence.
Review Mistakes – Learn from every mock test and avoid repeating errors.
Time Management – Train yourself to complete sections within the given time.
Take Full-Length Tests – Simulate real exam conditions to improve stamina.
Conclusion
Your GRE score is more than just a number—it reflects your readiness for graduate-level study. A “good” score depends on your goals, the universities you’re applying to, and the field of study you’ve chosen. Whether you're studying on your own or getting help from gre coaching in ahmedabad, understanding the GRE score range helps you plan better and aim higher. Set a realistic target, stay consistent with your practice, and keep improving.
FAQs
1. What is the maximum GRE score?
The maximum score is 340—170 in Verbal and 170 in Quant.
2. Is 300 a good GRE score?
It’s considered average. Some universities accept it, but competitive programs may require higher.
3. How long are GRE scores valid?
GRE scores are valid for five years from the test date.
4. Can I retake the GRE to improve my score?
Yes. You can take the GRE once every 21 days, up to 5 times in a 12-month period.
5. Do all graduate schools require the GRE?
Not all. Some programs have made it optional, but many still require it—especially for scholarships or competitive programs.

What Does the GRE Consist Of?

If you’re considering graduate studies abroad, you’ve probably encountered the GRE (Graduate Record Examination). This standardized test is widely accepted for admission to graduate programs, especially in the United States and Canada. If you’re aiming to achieve a high score, enrolling in the best GRE coaching in Ahmedabad can certainly help you get started. But before jumping into preparation, it's essential to understand exactly what the GRE consists of so you can approach it with a clear plan.
Here’s a breakdown of the GRE exam structure to help you know what to expect on test day.
Overview of the GRE
The GRE is a computer-based, adaptive test designed to evaluate your readiness for graduate-level academic work. It is divided into three main sections:
Verbal Reasoning
Quantitative Reasoning
Analytical Writing
In addition, there is an Unscored or Research section that may appear on the test, but it doesn’t impact your final score.
1. Verbal Reasoning
The Verbal Reasoning section tests your ability to read, understand, and analyze written material. It also evaluates your understanding of relationships between words and concepts. You’ll face the following types of questions:
Reading Comprehension – Passages followed by questions that assess your understanding.
Text Completion – Sentences with missing words that you need to fill in.
Sentence Equivalence – Sentences with a single missing word, and you must choose two words that fit.
There are two sections, each with 20 questions. You’ll have 30 minutes to complete each section.
2. Quantitative Reasoning
The Quantitative Reasoning section assesses your understanding of basic math concepts like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. You’ll encounter these types of questions:
Quantitative Comparison – Comparing two quantities to determine which is larger, smaller, or if they’re equal.
Problem Solving – Standard math problems requiring calculations.
Data Interpretation – Working with data from graphs and charts.
Like the Verbal section, this section is divided into two parts, each with 20 questions, and you’ll have 35 minutes to complete each one.
3. Analytical Writing
This section tests your ability to think critically and express your thoughts clearly in writing. It consists of two tasks:
Issue Essay – You’ll be asked to take a position on an issue and explain your reasoning.
Argument Essay – You’ll analyze a given argument and explain its flaws or strengths.
Each essay must be completed in 30 minutes.
Unscored or Research Section
The Unscored or Research section is included to help ETS (Educational Testing Service) test new questions for future exams. This section can either be verbal or quantitative and is not identified during the test, so you won’t know which section it is. However, it doesn’t affect your score.
Scoring Pattern
Here’s how the scoring works:
Verbal Reasoning: 130–170 (in 1-point increments)
Quantitative Reasoning: 130–170 (in 1-point increments)
Analytical Writing: 0–6 (in half-point increments)
Your total GRE score is calculated by adding the scores from the Verbal and Quantitative sections, with a maximum score of 340. The Analytical Writing section is scored separately and doesn’t affect the total.
Test Duration
The total time for the GRE is just under 4 hours, including breaks. While it’s not an overly long exam, it’s important to pace yourself and manage your time carefully to avoid rushing through any section.
Conclusion
Understanding the structure of the GRE is key to effective preparation. The test evaluates your skills in three critical areas: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. By becoming familiar with the format and practicing each section, you can boost your confidence and improve your score. Whether you're getting help from the best GRE coaching in Ahmedabad or studying independently, the right preparation can make all the difference in achieving your desired result.
FAQs
1. Is the GRE a computer-based test only?
For most test-takers, the GRE is computer-based. However, in areas where computer-based testing isn’t available, a paper-based version is offered instead.
2. How often can I take the GRE?
You can take the GRE once every 21 days, up to five times within a 12-month period.
3. How long are GRE scores valid?
GRE scores are valid for 5 years from the date of the test.
4. Is there negative marking on the GRE?
No, the GRE does not penalize you for incorrect answers, so it’s always a good idea to attempt all questions.
5. Do all graduate programs require the GRE?
Not all graduate programs require the GRE. Some programs may waive the test requirement, so it’s important to check the admission criteria of each university you are applying to.

Types of Traditional Games
Types of Traditional Games - Although various researchers have presented different typologies for classifying traditional games, the most general and simplest classification divides traditional games into ten types by their objectives: (1) martial arts; (2) fight games; (3) catching games; (4) throwing and passing games; (5) chasing games; (6) seeking games; (7) courtship games; (8) derision games; (9) speech games; (10) recreational games. In this paper, the typology presented and the classification mentioned should be applied: (1) games of chance; (2) war games; (3) skill balancing games without rivalry; (4) skill balancing games with rivalry; (5) spatial orientation games; (6) social interaction games; (7) games of imitation; (8) guess and collect games; (9) metal math games; (10) individual physical performance skill games. The Explora method has also been tested, finding a mean of 3.6 games per child and a total of 85 traditional childhood games in the collected data.

Another investigation set out to catalog the traditional childhood games that still exist in the surrounding area close to students of teacher education in primary education. The authors of this study were also able to establish that the number of games had decreased during the time elapsed since the oldest and youngest participants had left school. Other authors have also added categories to the types of games, such as a project that made reference to the types 'in a chain' and 'individual.' The same is true of a study that identified and classified various traditional games. Other researchers also extend the types and discuss bat-ball games, jump roping, circular games, and playing games.
Outdoor Games
The benefits of outdoor games can be seen in the sound of laughter, the powerful odor of exertion and fresh air, and the flushed cheeks. Each game that requires children to run, jump, and chase or develops skills in kicking, throwing, catching, balancing, or spinning releases a brief burst of high-energy activity. Of course, the classic games have passed from one generation to another for a good reason: they provide so many of the physical and social skills that children need to develop. Hide and Seek and Tag, along with the running-related games like Sheep in the Pen and Freeze Tag, combine the efforts of chasing and catching others or running to avoid being caught. Many children also like bicycle rodeos and scooter relays, which bring fun to what mostly seems like chores. Bubbles are essential, thrilling the younger children when they pop. Planning an outdoor scavenger hunt and other chase-and-find games can be more fun than the indoor variety. The classic game Red Light/Green Light puts listening and observing the changes of moving and stopping on full display. Throughout the outdoor play, children learn patience and cooperation in being active participants.
Indoor Games
Among the various popular indoor traditional games, when we first think of them, we unconsciously choose card games, which demand that participants sit around a table for a considerable amount of time and play a number of hands. They can be divided into the Dobukgi games of Korea and the Hwatu games of Japan. The most popular game from the Dobukgi games in Korea is Seotda, while those from the Hwatu games in Japan are Hanafuda and Kabufuda. Seotda and Hanafuda among these three games are similar in a variety of ways, so it is often found that people are playing games from both countries who are aware that they belong to the same family of traditional card games. The varieties of the game Seotda are sometimes differentiated according to different variations in the rules and names, but its basic rule structure has remained unchanged.
Dubbing games are played using two sets of cards, the 'flower card' and the 'month card.' The origin of each name is unique and gives some interesting history to the games. The numerous and beautiful flower cards are used to describe the weather, while 12 different month cards are used to represent the months of the year. These cards are worth various points and are used in different combinations of values and points to achieve missions. A game can be played continually with as few as two people, but it becomes more fun as more people participate.
Cultural Variations
As emphasized, many traditional children's games have been established, played for leisure and entertainment, and have a strong relationship with the culture of the community in which they are played. The forms of these play traditions are different from nation to nation. Although there are many similarities in the content of childhood games in many nations and cultures, local games are an important part of the national and cultural identity of the nations and communities that live in geographic areas. The persistence of traditional children's games is associated with the fact that children gain national identity, a sense of belonging, modeling of the socioeconomic structure, and acquisition of basic feelings and behaviors in the future and socialization, which means the establishment of healthy social relationships by playing these games.
However, with the invasion of technological facilities, especially television and computer games, the fact that traditional children's games have lost their priority due to the emergence of the visual world of children has come to the forefront. It is known that games that reflect traditional life before being forgotten are played for defense and to prevent them from being forgotten and that the officials make incentive studies.

How Do You Prepare for JEE Advanced?
Preparing for JEE Advanced can feel like a big challenge, but with the right approach, it's totally manageable. The key is to have a solid plan and stick to it. Here, we’ll break down some practical tips to help you prepare effectively while keeping things simple.
Start with Understanding the Basics
Before you start preparing, make sure you know the syllabus inside out. JEE Advanced tests your understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, so it's important to know what topics need your attention. Understanding concepts is more important than just memorizing them, so aim to build a strong foundation.
Make a Study Plan That Works for You
The first step to successful preparation is creating a study routine. Divide your time for Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, giving extra focus to your weaker areas. Staying consistent with your study hours will matter more than random bursts of long study sessions.
Now, choosing the right coaching also plays a big role. Joining the best coaching for JEE Advanced physics, chemistry, or maths can guide you in the right direction. Experienced teachers not only clear your doubts but also teach you how to approach tricky questions.
Focus on One Subject at a Time
Here’s a practical way to handle each subject:
Physics: It's one of the toughest sections for many students. Focus on clearing your fundamentals first. Good coaching, such as the best coaching for JEE Advanced physics, can really help you tackle this. Practice questions regularly and understand how to apply the formulas.
Chemistry: Many students find Chemistry a mix of easy and tough sections. Physical Chemistry needs calculation practice, Organic Chemistry requires you to remember reactions and mechanisms, and for Inorganic Chemistry, a lot of it involves straightforward learning. If you feel stuck, try finding the best coaching for JEE Advanced chemistry to guide you step-by-step.
Mathematics: Maths is all about practice. Solve as many problems as you can, covering different difficulty levels. It’s helpful to work with structured material offered by the best coaching for JEE Advanced maths, as it pushes you to build speed and accuracy.
Solve Papers and Revise Often
Practicing past years’ papers is a must for success in JEE Advanced. These help you understand the type of questions that appear and how to manage your time in the actual exam. Take regular mock tests to see where you’re lagging and revise topics based on your mistakes. Short notes for formulas and important concepts can be a lifesaver when revising.
Stay Healthy and Positive
Don’t forget, your health matters as much as your preparation. Eat nutritious food, sleep well, and take short breaks during the day to avoid burnout. Keep your mind fresh and stay positive. Remember, it's not just hard work but also smart work that will bring results.
Final Thoughts

Preparing for the SAT Tips and Strategies for Success
What is the SAT?
The SAT is a standardized test that assesses a student's readiness for college by evaluating key skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. It consists of two major sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math. Each section is scored on a scale of 200 to 800, making the total possible score 1600. The test also includes optional essay writing, although many colleges no longer require it.
To begin your journey, the first step is to sat register. Registration for the SAT is straightforward and can be done online through the official College Board website. You'll need to create an account, select your preferred test date, and choose a testing location. It's advisable to register well in advance, as spots can fill up quickly, especially in the months leading up to application deadlines. Keep in mind that there's a fee for taking the SAT, but fee waivers are available for eligible students.
Preparing for the SAT
Once you've completed your sat register, it’s time to dive into preparation. Successful SAT preparation involves a combination of understanding the test format, mastering content, and practicing time management. Here are a few strategies to help you get started:
Understand the Test Structure Familiarize yourself with the layout of the SAT. The EBRW section is divided into Reading and Writing & Language. The Reading section tests comprehension and critical thinking through passages, while the Writing section focuses on grammar and usage. The Math section is split into two parts: one allows the use of a calculator, and the other does not. Knowing the structure helps reduce anxiety and allows you to manage your time more effectively during the test.
Use Official Practice Tests The College Board offers free, full-length practice tests. Taking these under timed conditions will give you a realistic idea of what to expect on test day. Review your answers thoroughly to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, practice tests will help you get used to the pacing required for each section, especially when you face time constraints.
Focus on Weak Areas After completing a few practice tests, take note of which areas you struggle with the most. Devote extra time to these subjects, whether it's reading comprehension, grammar rules, or specific math concepts like algebra and geometry. Online resources, SAT prep books, and tutoring can also be valuable in strengthening your weak points.
Time Management Skills Time management is crucial for success on the SAT. Practice answering questions efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. Remember, the SAT isn't just about knowing the material—it's also about how well you can perform under time pressure.
Stay Healthy and Relaxed Your physical and mental well-being play an important role in your performance. Ensure that you're getting enough sleep, eating healthily, and exercising regularly in the weeks leading up to the test. On the day before the exam, relax and avoid cramming. A clear and well-rested mind will serve you far better than last-minute study sessions.
SAT Test Day: What to Expect
On the day of your sat test, arrive at the testing center early with all the necessary materials: your admission ticket, a valid photo ID, pencils, an eraser, and an approved calculator. Being prepared with the right tools will prevent unnecessary stress. The sat test can be long and mentally taxing, so it's also wise to bring snacks and water for the breaks.
Conclusion
Preparing for the SAT takes time and effort, but the rewards are worth it. By understanding the test format, registering early through sat register, and using strategic study techniques, you can significantly improve your performance. Keep in mind that the SAT is just one part of the college admissions process, so focus on doing your best while balancing other aspects of your application, such as extracurricular activities and essays. With determination and the right approach, you can achieve the score you need to reach your academic goals.
