What are your favorite shows in terms of whump and hurt/comfort, if you don't mind me asking?
Hi anon!
So I have like the object permanence of a sieve thanks to my unmedicated ADHD, so I don't necessarily...really remember? *hides*
I do know that I don't have any favourite shows in terms of hurt/comfort except for one, because all the best hurt/comfort is in fanfiction (which makes sense, it's a fanfic genre). However, I do think March Comes in Like a Lion delivers pretty big-time on the hurt/comfort front overall, which has multiple instances of caring for the main character while he's sick (often because he's so depressed he stops taking care of himself, and then gets too dehydrated or starved to actively starting looking after himself again), and also a really huge arc of caring for and comforting another character through intense school bullying across a whole season.
I honestly can't think of much western media that I've loved which also has a decent proportion of hurt/comfort. There's like, always shows that have moments? But I don't really count those. Moments are usually what leads to those of us who love hurt/comfort to go and write fanfic in the first place. We're never getting enough of it, lol. :D

i went to a tiny counterserve diner once and accidentally poured sugar instead of salt all over my hashbrowns and was eating them sadly anyways. the waitress took them away and started making me another one and I tried to protest, but she just snorted and said "we're not catholic here". now every time i'm doing something painful out of obligation i think about how that is not repenting, this body is not a catholic establishment, there is no nobility in suffering.

I lovvvee this little comic from Ryoko Kui 's Daydream Hours ♡. I would read a whole slice of life manga about Falin and Marcille's time together at the magic academy (´ε` )

my mother taught me to crochet when i was young. she was left handed, so she taught me how in the bathroom mirror so her hands would be in the right position.
she learned to crochet from her grandmother, who was right handed. her grandma was the one that originally used the bathroom mirror to teach her granddaughter properly.
i find something poetic about that. here in this bathroom mirror, through generations, we adapt to our young who have a different way of learning and interacting with the world

we had the dog booked into kennels for a few days, and I texted to cancel but haven't got an acknowledgement (they tell you to text, it's not just me trying to avoid a phone call)
looked on the website and for peak periods you have to give a month's notice to get any refund! even off-peak periods is a week. i will remember this next time someone at work kicks off about being charged when they called to cancel a whole five minutes before they were supposed to be there
we thought about sending him to kennels anyway so at least one of us gets a holiday, but i think he'd rather sit on my lap for the next few days and try to cure me through intensive cuddles and licking my hands off. he is a strange dog <3

sometimes while i think about that while a lot of adults did not treat me very well as a kid i also get a lot of 'in hindsight this person was so good to me and i didnt even realize it until now' as an adult. today i was thinking about how the first anime convention i ever went to was when i was 10 and i asked the man working the manga cafe what manga was/what a good place to start was (because the con was very overstimulating for me and i had gotten lost) and he asked how old i was before recommending yotsuba and asking if i wanted any water or something to eat. its really simple but theres a lot of bad things that couldve happened or he could've been careless in his recommendation, but instead yotsuba has remained one of my favorite manga for years, and probably a large portion of why i continue to read manga as an adult... i think adults who try to involve kids in the world safely/kindly even in little ways make so much more of a difference than they ever really know.
