man idk I think u just want ur fave to move on :/ pitting hatchling against two separate ppl isn’t very fair. they deserved the win my dude. if theyre gonna sweep let em sweep
lmao something something “look what the lobocorp girlies have to do to mimic even a fraction of hatchling’s power” or whatever
ig hatchling is just so doomed by the narrative they had to get double teamed so they could lose. double doomed by the narrative eh
Okay so I wasn't going to answer this at first but just. Real quick. Have you ever run a tournament? Not sarcastic, genuine question, have you? Because these things are a LOT of work. Like, I was SHOCKED at how much goes into these
So of COURSE I'm going to be biased! It's my tournament! If I'm not biased, if I have no one I'm rooting for, then it becomes boring and I won't want to work on it anymore. So for me, yeah, I do want Lyf to win actually. What's the point of a poll if the runner isn't so invested in the topic that they have their own personal favorites? Idk it would just seem really tedious to me to set up brackets full of people I don't give a shit about, but that's just my perspective
I am not denying that Hatchling is completely doomed though! I genuinely thought they could pull through, and I think the only reason they didn't is because it seemed like the poll only hit the Outer Wilds community two days before it ended. Which, still, coming back from a 70/30 split to then be that close to making it 50/50 is incredible, props to the Outer Wilds fans!
As far as I can tell, Carmen and Lyf both come from very small communities. This is the first time in the entire tournament that the small guys actually had a shot, and I am sorry that the Hatchling couldn't pull through. In all honesty, even after they teamed up, I thought Lyf and Carmen were dead. I did NOT think they would survive even together. So this was more a pleasant surprise for me, and not really anything planned.
Feel free to make your own tournament though! I'd love to vote for the Hatchling!

If we get a scene of Arya crowning Jon, it needs to parallel the scene of Jon gifting Needle to Arya for me. A personal scene between the two of them that's about their unconditional love for each other. It isn't about Jon becoming King but about Arya supporting him in the same way he supported her. "Girls get the arms but not the swords. Bastards get the swords but not the arms" come full circle with two outcasts supporting each other occupying spaces that society says they can't

mr house never being able to replicate his courier six because they never let him scan them, so all he has are a few shoddy recordings he took to recreate the courier from. his replicas of courier six are flawed: none are as perceptive, resourceful and proactive. they aren't good at out-of-the-box thinking or improvising. their problemsolving, diplomacy skills and technological innovation ideas fall short of the original and are just another disappointment every time. they end up hollow shells like jane, marilyn and victor. letting new vegas go, ruin itself in pursuit of recreating his perfect right hand again, hope for another fruitful partnership and bright future of the mojave like they did before is so delicious it makes me sick actually send tweet ✌

My biggest take is that police are under no protection of anonymity in the police force specifically. Citizens, by nature of being a citizen, have the right to anonymity in any capacity that is not a direct threat to the law or other people. So many cops operate as though they deserve to be completely anonymous in the same way that an individual citizen can, and that's where corruption will be exasperated.

q: do we know who's speaking in the loretab for the sparrow 'Nacre'? the cadence is familiar but i can't pin it
It's complicated! The cadence is the same as Unveiling and last two pages of Inspiral. There's been a ton of debates about who wrote these. A lot of people stand by it being the mystical and unknown entity Winnower, some other interpretations are that it's the Witness (including what appeared to be a confirmation from the writers themselves).
But Nacre's lore tab was deliberately kept until we defeated the Witness, so this is where it gets complicated. Again, a lot of people will say that this is a simple confirmation that it's the Winnower and that everything like this has always been the Winnower, and that this is some huge setup for a future antagonist.
The real answer is that we don't know. That's it.
I have a post going into Nacre's lore tab in-depth, and this is also a link to a discussion on it with some other extra information.
It's a really neat discussion overall and I really enjoy seeing people's perspectives about it! I am also really into the possibility that this is a type of mystery that will never be solved because I feel like it's more than fitting in this case. I genuinely don't think we need more details than this, as the whole thing is supposed to evoke a religious vibe of something incredibly unknown that may or may not exist somewhere out there in or beyond the universe.

i think one of the other appeals to me of my spymaster/thirteen roleswap au is that the doctor being off playing with the matrix and the master being the one with her tardis while thinking she's dead means that. maybe for the first time, he actually has to. mourn her. and i think that's a oddly scary thing for him to contemplate, there's like this unspoken agreement between them that, sure, they fuck each other up, but they come back. you know? it's never going to keep them down forever. the doctor leaves the master on skaro with a bunch of daleks, and he's not even that surprised to see she's still alive later. the fact of their existence parallel each other is a given.
i mean, that's why him refusing to regenerate in last of the time lords is such a betrayal. it's not just him forcing the doctor back into being alone, it's that the doctor's instincts would be right, even the time war ending itself couldn't keep the master down. but now he's choosing death. he's not supposed to do that.
so here. here's a world where the doctor is gone to him. just gone. didn't win, didn't survive. they're gone. and the master is still here. i want to know how he mourns his friend. if he can, even, if he knows how to. if it doesn't twist into denial and mocking mimicry that is, still, it's own way of perpetuating their memory through time and space. s11 is about grief, damnit, and i want to see the master wrecked with it as the days turn and turn and the doctor doesn't show up, doesn't take her tardis back, doesn't thwart him using their name and running around with companions.

sometimes people who struggle like to make jokes or find positives about their condition that causes them to struggle so they can escape the constant negative and struggle. sometimes autistic people will say things like "the 'tism" or use the "autism creature" or say their autism helped them have a *positive trait* to feel better about their struggles. because living your life only focusing on the struggles and negatives is depressing and makes it hard to want to live, even if those struggle take up 100% of your life and you can't actually escape them. sometimes any little seemingly positive thing can help a lot.
but there's so many other autistic people that hate when we do that and call it "reducing autism to a cute trendy thing" and say it takes away from *their* struggles and is bad and shouldn't be used. maybe *you* want to only focus on your struggles, but some people can't live in constant negative and need some positive or to find ways to make their condition more positive so they can feel better about living with their struggles. life is hard. I take anything I can get.
I cant get jobs. I can't make and keep friends. I can't get help and support for doing "normal" things so sometimes I go weeks without being able to shower and without eating more than a bowl of cereal a day. most times can't even do things I like. struggle to communicate. have meltdowns. i'll never be able to live independently. I struggle a lot. but instead of sitting here always depressed and having no motivation to live, i'd rather try to joke about "my 'tism is acting up again" when i'm struggling (just an example. don't think I ever actually used the 'tism thing but i saw others use it) or say "i'm just being a creature" when I need to stay in my dark room because everything is too much and I personally find it cute to be a little creature meant in a positive way. i'm not actually downplaying mine or anyone else's struggles. I still acknowledge them and that silly jokes dont make them go away. i'm not trying to be trendy. i'm not doing any of the things people say we do by making silly little jokes. i'm using the silly little jokes to convince myself life can be a little more than pointless, painful garbage all the time.

Not sure I care enough to engage with the post, but to read SVSSS + extras and come away with the interpretation that SJ doesn't care about why YQY failed to save him, just that he did fail, and therefore would never forgive him or change his behavior towards him if he learned the truth, feels off-place to me. It seems to lean into the view that SJ doesn't actually care about YQY, just sees him as a useful tool, and thus couldn't be hurt by the supposed abandonment - with that interpretation it would then make sense to think he would neither care nor change his behavior (towards YQY) upon learning what actually happened.
