Logan had a new phone. And for the first time in a while, it felt nice to just be disconnected from the world for a bit. The people who truly mattered had his phone number. His Instagram had been wiped, along with every other social media. The American had gone dark.

And apparently you had done the same thing.

His parents and brother knew where he would be, just in case for emergencies. However, he asked them to not text much. He needed time away, well, away from the current grid. It hurt him, seeing how supportive everyone was with Theo. No one had ever congratulated him when he first got signed. Hell, even Oscar hadn’t known right away, claiming he had forgotten.

Of course, he had given you his new number because you’d be the only person he previously knew that he’d still be in contact with. You also gave Logan you’re new number, having similar ideas to your friend.

Well, he had given George his new number. The Briton had texted his old number in a panic-like manner when Logan deactivated everything. Under a temporary contract, Logan wasn’t legally allowed to tell George anything except that he was safe and needed time away.

The brunet was not happy with that, but he let Logan know that if he needed anything, he would come running. A bit of happiness let itself seep into Logan’s heart, thankful for the Mercedes driver’s friendship.

When he had read the email after the social media posts went up, his mind blanked.

What did Andretti want with him? A washed-out jobless nobody. He believes they should have been looking at someone like Carlos or even Ollie, who was making good times in F2 car. It had to be anyone but him.

So why was it him?

He had been about to call you when you had first facetimed him on his laptop. He couldn’t even get words about before you started screeching. Logan chuckled as you went on a rant, as this could be their big break. His silence had given you a look into how he was truly feeling.

Your voice had quieted down on the device.

“You’re going to take the offer right?”

Logan winced at your tone, which gave you the information you needed. You rolled your eyes as you sat on your bed.

“Logan, we were just dropped by two teams that didn’t even want us. They pushed us away like we were nothing. And now, there’s a team with top potential that truly wants us, and you don’t want to take the opportunity?”

The American boy sighed. You had a point.

“I’m just scared that I’m going to get there, and then make a fool out of myself. Then Michael is going to see how truly bad of a driver I am,” he hugged out.

You could hear the fear in his voice, and it devastated you. Where did your confident and smiley boy go? Williams would pay for it, one way or another.

You were hesitant to say something.

“Logan, even if our times aren’t what we’re wanting at first, Michael said that we will get better. He’s sent my manager some data and it looks like we are scarily similar with our driving styles. Logan, the car is going to be made for us. Michael made sure that I knew that we’d have a chance, because I’m not driving if you’re not. Together or nothing, we come as a package.”

Logan sat up quickly off his bed. He glared at you through his laptop.

“You did not just quote Charles Leclerc to me.”

“And what if I did?”

“No, you can’t give this offer up if I don’t drive.”

You glared back at him, although you had a smile.

“It’s either both of us, or none of us. I’m tired of never seeing you, and you need a friend you can count on. I’m sorry to say but Oscar has done a very shit job of being your friend. I’d say that George is a better friend than him.”

Logan sighed. “No, you’re right. It’s just hard to accept that.”

Your smile dropped a bit.

“Logan, he was supposed to be your friend and then he dropped you. Everyone had dropped you so many times and you’ve been the one to pick yourself back up. But now, you’ve been dropped a final time, yet someone wants to be the first to help you back up, to clean your wounds, and to heal you. And now you don’t even want that?”

You had a point.

Like always.

“Your words never seem to fail me woman.”

“That’s because men are the inferior being.”

Logan snorted.

“Will I see you in Milan next week?” you asked with hopeful eyes. Logan could see the glimmer that shined in them. He didn’t want to be the person to damped that.

“I will see you in Milan.”

The first thing that popped into Logan’s mind when he got to the base was “Holy Shit.”

The building was massive as he walked through the giant doors. He really thought that this was a movie set with how grand it was. Surely this couldn’t it? Maybe he had the wrong address.

“Mr. Sargeant?”

Or maybe he did. His body turned to the lady standing near the front desk. He showed a smile that was definitely a tad too wide and showed too many teeth. Thankfully the lady didn’t show any malice as she sweetly grinned at the blond.

“Yes ma’am. That’s me.”

Always the good southern-hospitality manners with him.

“I’m glad you could make it. If you’d follow me, Michael is waiting in his office for you.”

Logan breathed a sigh of relief when he finally knew that he didn’t have to circumnavigate the entirety of the building.

The air was fresh as he walked behind the lady, who he now knew as Marissa Andretti, Michael’s sister and Head of Directors. Her own American accent was like a comforting blanket to Logan. Gosh, did he miss hearing a familiar voice to his own during 2023.

The one voice he couldn’t wait to hear was your own. He knew he’d be safe once he heard the lisps of a Southern draw when you talked. The slurred vowels and the biting consonants would be music to his ears.

“How have you liked the simulator and the data so far?” Marissa asked as she led Logan down yet another hallway. How big was this building and were they leading him to his death?

Yet, despite his concerns, Logan was very happy with the results.

“The car is already so fast. It’s like it’s just an extension of me instead of working against me. It feels so right.”

Technically, Logan had been on the first plane to Milan to start testing, as his own anxiety wouldn’t let him wait until the week was up. You had your own simulator back in the States, so you did your testing there. Logan had been back in London when the email came, and his set up was not going to function with the high tech that Andretti needed.

Marissa smiled over her shoulder. “Good, that is exactly what we are wanting to hear.”

Finally, she stopped in front of a door that had a giant-ass A on the front. Logan wanted to laugh at the cinematics. Surely, this was a movie and he was going to be the main character. Marissa pushed a button and the door slowly swung open.

Logan’s smile grew once he saw you in one of the very plush seats in front of the desk. You immediately stood up and jumped into his arms. He breathed deeply and all weight slowly melted from his body. It had been so long since he had gotten to hug you, hold you, feel you.

When you pulled away, you had a blinding smile on your face.

“Glad to see you here Logs.”

His nose scrunched at the old nickname.

“I don’t think you’ve called me that since we were 12, Y/n.”

You huffed.

“Fine, no nickname for you.”

“I take it back. I ban you from calling me Logan.”

“Isn’t that your name?”

“No?”

“Logs!”

“Ah there it is!”

A cough signaled to Logan that they weren’t actually alone. He sheepishly turned around to face the man who, hopefully after this meeting, would be his boss for a couple of years. Logan turned his full body towards the desk and stepped with his hand outstretched.

Michael had a knowing smile as he shook Logan’s hand.

“I am so sorry sir, I didn’t even realize that you were already here, and I haven’t seen her in a while, and it’s so good to just here the accents because the grid is entirely too European and Asian, sometimes I couldn’t even understand them, and…”

Michael put his hands on Logan’s shoulders.

“It’s just fine kid. I totally get you.”

Logan visibly relaxed under Michael’s hands.

“Now, why don’t you sit down and we can start talking contracts.”

Logan lit up at the word.

“Contracts?”

You gave him a smirk.

“Yes Logs, contracts.”

Logan felt as though he couldn’t breathe. But this time, it was with excitement and not dread. His butt quickly found the seat next to yours. Marissa left the room with promises of coming back with celebratory drinks.

Michael pulled out two small stacks of paper before he started speaking.

“So, I’ve talked with both of your managers and we’ve come up with a contract. You two can look over it as I read the big details. The finer print is stuff that you both have already previously gone over, but you are still encouraged to look over it one final time.”

You and Logan had the same exact papers.

In the initial emailing process, the two of you had voiced that you were a packaged deal. Logan was surprised to see that Michael had said that he wouldn’t want it any other way and was glad to possibly not have to deal with drivers hating each other. Logan thought anything would be better than Brocedes 2016.

You looked down at the words as Michael read them out loud.

“Ok, so in the contract, the two of you will be signed until 2027. There is an exit clause in section C, but we are not allowed to terminate prior to 2027. The two of you will be granted ambassadorship with whatever sponsors we’ve received. The sponsorships are in section E and it gives a rundown of each one and what they will be contributing to the team.

“Per secrecy of wanting to keep the identities secret until we reach the grid for testing, the two of you will go under pseudonyms.”

You raised an eyebrow.

“Like a call sign?”

Marissa flashed a wicked grin.

“Exactly like a call sign.”

You continued, “Do we get to come up with them?”

Michael clasped his hands. “So we thought that Y/n could go by Phoenix and then Logan would go Venus.”

Your eyes widened as you took in the name. Wasn’t too bad, you thought.

Logan let out a sigh of relief. “At least it’s not like Eagle or something. That would be super obvious.”

The boss-man chuckled before he looked back down at the contract.

“Since the two of you did not specify a salary, we took the liberty to come up with one ourselves. But please feel free to mention what you’d like and we can always raise it. We also liked to put in that for every point scored, the two of you get a bonus as a little incentive. The salary will not be dropped no matter if points are scored or not. Think of it as a baseline.”

Michael chuckled as he watched yours and Logan’s eyes drastically widen at the sight of the eight digits before the decimal. Logan gulped at the sight.

“Michael, I think you added too many zeros.”

“I think I didn’t add enough.”

Logan couldn’t respond.

You looked up from the paper to Michael. “I think it’s high enough.”

The goateed-man smiled back at you and continued.

“I’ve seen the skills parts on your resumes and thankfully the two of you do not need to learn Italian from scratch. I don’t even know when the two of you had time to learn it, but thankfully it is not required in meetings or in the garage.”

Logan smirked as he looked at the words.

“What’s the fun in that? We can have secret conversations with ourselves.”

You tapped his shoulder.

“Except Ferrari will know and maybe Lewis.”

“I’ll have my Duolingo account at the ready.”

Michael watched as the two of you pored over the papers and bickered like an old married couple. He and Marissa already had a bet going to see when the two of you would get together. But, you didn’t need to know that.

“I digress. You can speak in Italian if you want to. The next couple of sections are just PR related. The two of you wanted to bring you own teams in, which is fine. I’ve sent emails and meeting times to each of them and have been replied to. All is in motion. Logan, you mentioned something to me once about your personal trainer leaving?”

A sigh left his lips at the mention of Benny. He really didn’t want anyone else. He slowly nodded.

“He had to leave to be with his family. Williams wasn’t the most accommodating and he was told that he had to be at every race. Normally I didn’t even need him until race day. He’d miss so much time with his family because of traveling and things like that.”

“Well, I think we have you covered.”

Logan looked back down at the paper. A small gasp left his lips.

Ben Jacobs was written in black ink under “Personal Trainer.”

“How?”

Michael smiled.

“It took some convincing, but he said he’d come back for you. Of course, Ben will be highly compensated to return after he said he wouldn’t. His family will also be accommodated for any race that they’d like to attend and Ben can show up however late he needs. His leave will also be paid time as well.”

Logan could kiss the man if he could. Tears pooled in his eyes and he could only manage a small thank you. Your hand rested on his shoulder in comfort. He just couldn’t wait to see him again.

“Looks like that is everything. Are you two ready to sign?”

Yours and Logan’s heads nodded eagerly as pens were uncapped. There was light scratching for a few moments as you filled out the needed information on the multiple sheets of paper. Once everything was completed, you let out a sigh of relief. You and Logan could finally do this.

Marissa showed up at the right moments with a few different beverages. You took one of the iced americanos, claiming that Italian espresso was, in fact, the best kind. Logan surprised you as he took a mimosa.

He side-eyed you.

“It’s freshly squeezed orange juice and you cannot go wrong with it. It’s a classic.”

You held you drink up and your other hand in mock surrender.

Michael took a black coffee and sipped it.

“Now, onto the fun stuff.”

Your eyebrows pinched. “Fun stuff?”

Michael smirked before pulling up a projector that was attached to his laptop. He started to click through the slides.

“First, the car.”

On the slide was a sleek yellow and black livery. The black really highlighted the tamer yellow.

Michael pointed at it.

“This is our 2024 livery. We designed it awhile back, but it’s finally going to be used.”

You let out a whistle as a video played the engine noise. To you, it sounded fast. You had been able to do a few laps with an actual car to get the feel of it since IndyCar were so much different. Michael claimed though that you were a natural in the car, being able to command it to what you needed it to do. Logan was quite the same.

The next slide showed multiple models of Lamborghinis. With it came a smirk from the sister and brother pair.

Logan looked at them.

“I don’t know whether to be excited about the smirks or nervous.”

Marissa was the one to pull up something on her personal iPad. She showed the official Lamborghini website.

“Because the two of you will now technically ambassadors for Lambo as well, you two need to pick out what models the two of you would like to own. For now, we can start with one, but Tonino wanted his drivers to start a small collection.”

You made her pause.

“Tonino, as in, Tonino Lamborghini?”

Marissa sent a gentle smile to calm you down.

“Yes. Mr. Tonino will be at quite a few races to watch. He has mentioned wanting to see Ferrari fail, but our data is saying that although we look promising, there’s not guarantee.”

Logan exhaled sharply.

“No pressure right?”

Michael leaned forward over the desk.

“Listen to me Logan. You have been with a team that has now destroyed every bit of self-confidence. Mr. Tonino is actually the one who put your name on my radar. If you’re good enough for him, you need to believe that you’re good enough for everyone else.”

Logan was taken back. Mr. Tonino was the one to bring him up? He felt honored in a good way. A nod of his head let Michael and Marissa know that they could continue. Logan turned your way, only to find you already smiling at him. He hoped that he could always be on the receiving end of that smile.

Marissa continued where she left off.

“Just look over the models and customize it however you’d like. We’ll get it sent to the factory to be made in time for the first race in Bahrain. These cars will be shipped along with our supplies so you can always have them.”

You smirked. “I’ve always wanted a black Lamborghini Aventador.”

Logan turned to Marissa. “I’d love a black Lamborghini Huracan.”

A smile grew on your face. “Aw, Logan. We’ll get matching Lambos.”

Logan thought that if you had been an emoji, you’d be the one with the big teary eyes and a pout. Marissa looked pleased at the requests for the different models.

You raised your hand. “Do we need to start looking for places to stay here in Milan?”

Michael lifted his eyebrows.

“You don’t actually. Between races, the two of you are more than welcome to either go home or adventure somewhere. We will let you know when it is crucial to come back here to do some testing. Housing is provided when you need to be here. There are multiple estates that can be used on bought property.”

You and Logan definitely liked the sound of that. Maybe you could stay in close villas or something. Or maybe in the same place as you tended to get lonely. That’s what being pushed out of everything does to someone in a year. You can’t remember the last time that you were invited to do something with the team, always retreating to your small hotel room after a race. You feel as though Logan might feel the same.

Michael moved to the next slide, showing the race suits.

“These are the suits for the season. Black or white fireproofs will go well with them. Helmets are up to the two of you. You will need on standard for some races and then you can choose what races you want fun ones to be. Miami, Austin, Las Vegas, and Imola are going to be considered our home races.”

“What about Monza?” Logan questioned.

Michael had a glint in his eyes.

“That will forever belong to the Tifosi I’m afraid.”

You decided to pipe up.

“Or Charles Leclerc. I feel like wherever he goes, the Tifosi goes with him. You make him trade teams, the Italians will follow him.”

Logan shot you a teasing look.

“You always have to bring him up in one way or another.”

You shrugged.

“He’s a good driver. Let’s not bring up that you’re such a fanboy for Max Verstappen of all people.”

Logan’s torso shifted.

“It’s not every day that one beats Sir Lewis Hamilton and take away his 8th championship!”

Laughs erupted from Michael and Marissa, making you and Logan pause. You cleared your throat.

“Sorry, please continue.”

Michael went a bit further with the slides, going over compatible data to the car. He went over sponsors and things like that before he finally leaned back into his chair.

“Are we able to drive the cars today?”

Much like you were, Logan was itching to be back behind the wheel. And hopefully, the wheel belonged to a reliable car.

Michael stood from where he sat, making you and Logan also rise to your feet.

“I’d thought you’d never ask,” he said, making his way to the door. When the two of you didn’t follow, he turned back around.

“Are you ready for it?”

“They’re only here for the hot drivers,” the RedBull team principal comments as he walks behind you and Lando. The two of you are watching a group of girls exchange friendship bracelets with some of his fellow drivers, their joy audible as the girls make them remember silly moments that have become inside jokes. Something about Horner’s dismissive tone has you seeing red. You feel Lando’s hand on your shoulder, trying to hold you back from doing something stupid –like getting yourself banned from the paddock.

“No, he needs to hear it. I won’t stand for this,” you brush off your best friend, “You’re such an ass, you know?” you call out to Christian Horner. The man stops and turns around.

“Excuse me?”

“Oh, you heard me. You should be thanking these girls, they’re the reason F1 has gotten as popular as it has. There’s a reason Daniel’s merch is pulling the numbers it does, why Lando’s own merch sells better than the McLaren stuff, or why Ferrari post literal thirst traps on Instagram every race weekend, and it’s not the 40-something-year-old men with beer bellies clad head to toe in RedBull, setting off flares –illegal flares– in the grandstands. The only reason for your success is because of Max and his army of loyal fans. Every single driver in that number 2 seat has failed to live up to your standards, but then again you also don’t offer them a particularly nurturing work environment. I’m not done,” you say as you see him open his mouth to respond, “Your team has the highest driver turnover rate on the grid. It also has some of the worst transparency when it comes to diversity. I know you hate him, but you could learn a thing or two about how Toto runs Mercedes, about Lewis’ dedication to making the sport more welcoming, and also about profit margins. Their car may be shit, but they’re actually making money. They were also one of the first teams to promote F1 Academy, something your own social media team was quite late with. Gee, I wonder why that is. So please forgive me, Christian, when I say that your opinion of girls and female fans of motor sports means absolutely nothing to me. Now, if you’ll excuse me,” you finish your rant as calmly as you can with your heart hammering in your chest, and walk away from him. Behind you, you hear Horner splutter something about Lando needing to keep his friends in check. You can only imagine what Lando’s reply might be to that. The adrenaline of calling out a team principal on his behaviour is beginning to wear off and you can feel your entire body tremble. You almost jump out of your skin when someone wraps an arm around you.

“Sorry, it’s just me nena,” Carlos says as he stears you into the Ferrari garage, “Horner is on a warpath, you’ll be safe here.” Both him and Charles walk with you to Carlos’ driver room. As soon as the door closes behind you, the tears begin to fall.

“I’m fine,” you splutter at their concerned looks, “I’m- f-fine.” Carlos pulls you into a hug while Charles mumbles something about finding Lando.

“How did you find me so quickly?” you ask, face still half buried in his shirt. Carlos chuckles.

“We were right there, signing some things for fans when it all went down.” Taking a deep breath, you pull back and wipe away the tears. “Pretty sure I’m about to get my paddock access revoked,” you joke through your tears.

“They have another thing coming if the FIA decides to do so,” you hear Lando say as he walks into the room.

“I won’t apologise,” you say adamantly, allowing your best friend to pull you into a hug.

“Good. Besides, what should you apologise for? You didn’t call him names and all of it is true,” Lando replies.

“I didn’t even tell him that even the grid struggled to name drivers during that grill the grid video,” you mumble into his hoodie, much to the amusement of Lando.

“I don’t think the FIA would dare revoke your pass, nena,” Carlos comments from where he’s looking over Charles’ shoulder at his phone. “Looks like someone’s filmed it. The video is going viral on social media already. From what I can see all the women in the comments are backing you 100%. If they ban you, there will be a riot.” You can’t help but smile at that. Wiping your nose on the sleeve of your sweater, you straighten up and, after saying goodbyes to Carlos and Charles, you walk back out of the Ferrari garage and head towards the McLaren one. Knowing that all the girls in the paddock will have your back, fills you with warmth. Whatever shit was about to come your way, you’d face it with your head held high, back straight and your friends on the grid supporting you no matter what.

I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't sure where to go with this song at first until @curiousthyme allowed me to just word vomit to her to get ideas and this is the result of that. Had so much fun writing the rant (even my heart was racing by the end of it 🙈)

I’m gonna rant about how the guys of Judgment Day have been treated under a cut. People who tell me I’m taking this too seriously (which seems to happen whenever I talk about this person) will be blocked. I don’t give a fuck.

Get it? Got it? Good.

It’s time shit or get off the pot when it comes to Rhea and the Judgment Day.

I have no ill will toward Rhea and her popularity. I’m happy she got it. If the powers that be want to make her face and book her like a face, be my guest.

HOWEVER…

The guys of Judgment Day have hindered and pushed to the side to the point they couldn’t even get to talk about their tag team title match at a press conference for PLE that they’re on…

…where said PLE has only three matches and an interview segment.

…where an announcement of a preshow women’s tag team title match got more attention.

…where the Judgment Day as it relates to the guys wasn’t even talked about.

If you want to keep Rhea as face, fine. But her association with the Judgment Day needs to end. It needs to start now.

Dominik, whose character is wrapped up with Rhea’s shouldn’t have to be separated from her with no reason just because you want Rhea to get cheered because Dom brings heat. That’s not fair to him that he gets cut off at the knees when he (and Rey, Finn, and Damian) all contributed to Rhea’s success. Why should he be put in a closet for getting that heat most other wrestlers would be killing himself for?

You can’t keep posting all the Dom and Rhea crumbs on social media and then not do anything on the shows. Then act amazed at why people are upset they’re not on TV anymore. Thats making your cake and eating it too. No one wants to live off the crumbs they occasionally throw on social media. Just today we got a tiny bit with Rhea’s VLOG and I couldn’t even get excited.

Damian and Finn as reigning tag team champs couldn’t even talk at a press conference for a PLE that only has three matches on the main card. Why even book them on the card? The way they were treated, I’d expect Finn and Damian to be the ones on the preshow, instead of the women’s tag team match. This also hurts Dunne and Tyler as any kind of attention was stripped from them as well.

Also, while the powers that be were making Rhea a star Finn, Damian, Dom, and JD were locked in with R-truth and were made to look like idiots. Instead of taking this period after losing at survivor series to build them back up to be ruthless but lovable heels, they have to constantly deal with R- Truth step n fetch it act (which is another rant). Instead of going with R-Truth helping them get wins, all it did was make Dom and especially JD lose all good chunk of the their matches. The only thing that may come from this Damian face turn.

But that still leaves Dom, JD, and Finn in a lurch. Dom’s spinning his wheels while JD and Finn barely have anything to latch onto.

But I digress. They need to shit or get off the pot with Rhea’s face turn. It’s to the point where I’m not caring about her as much anymore, I don’t want the Dom and Rhea pairing anymore, and i ust rather they just go ahead and rip the bandaid off.

I won’t be feeling sad about a break up, I’ll be breathing a sigh of relief. And that sucks.

Unpopular(?) BTS shipping opinions

These are some random points I wanted to talk about regarding shippers and my opinion on some specific ship moments:

1. The most likely possibility is that no ship is real in a romantic way.

We really should start swallowing that cause people might die… I genuinely don’t get how some of you would rather die before accepting the fact that your ship probably aren’t dating, they aren’t friends with benefits or exes or whatever narrative it is being pushed these days. If we’re looking at this seriously (and I am saying this as a shipper who likes to explore the possibility of my ship being romantic) those boys are most likely just friends, coworkers, family at the end of the day.

I mean obviously the possibilities for any ship being romantic still exists but I just don’t think shippers should be as confident as they are that their or any ship really between the boys is romantic or sexual. I can’t explain this well because I genuinely am not against shipping but I just think some people are incapable of doing anything casually— that’s problematic.

2. None of us know who is actually close and who isn't, especially not right now.

The little they share with us right now isn’t enough to prove anything. We have no clue who sees or calls each other and that's fine. Why are shippers so quick to push the X and Y are drifting apart thing? Nothing much seems to have changed between the ships themselves but the content we get and the member’s approach to social media has changed. I think this is how things have been for the most part on the social media front for a long time. Whilst the guys have been known for their use of social media in the past, they got the paper award for a reason lol, I think they have been gradually reducing their use for a while now so none of their behavior in chapter two is really striking to me. The only thing that really has changed is the lack of constant in flow of BTS OT7 or subunit content.

The lack of this type of content is what makes it seem like members aren’t close because shippers and other fans have no other content to distract themselves when the boys don’t post on social media, even though they are posting or not posting the same amount than before chapter 2 started. In other words, social media interactions have never been the sole indicator to determine the status of anyone’s relationship much less the boys. What shippers usually focused on in chapter one were clips from Bangtan bombs, ITS, BVs, Run, Memories, Summer/Winter packages etc. but with the lack of that now it seems like some ships aren’t close anymore when that probably isn’t the case. It’s obvious that they don’t spend as much time together anymore but that was the entire point of the hiatus and chapter 2: for them to branch out and do their own thing. However, that doesn’t take away much because if you have ever had long term friendships like the ones Bangtan have, you will know that those are the ones where you can go months without meeting up regularly and still be close as ever once you get back together.

I’m ranting but all this to say I don’t see what many of you do when it comes to “drifting apart” narratives cause there isn’t much to go off of.

3. 'Letter' is not about Jungkook.

Not gonna even speak too much on it. I'm sorry for my fault— not really😐

4. Matching clothes or accessories doesn't always mean something (to me).

Yes those moments are cute but it isn't that significant in my opinion, especially if it's matching for a stage or anything for work cause those outfits don't seem to be completely their choice sometimes.

5. None of the boys are intentionally malicious to each other.

They don't see, intentionally ignore and then do things that would directly result in hate towards the other members. Yes, I am talking about Taehyung. I will never get over the fact that some of you basically think Taehyung is admin of every Taekooker group chat out there. So many of you are CONVINCED that this man sees everything toxic Taekookers do and say. Even if Tae does browse ARMY spaces sometimes, who are you to tell me what he does and doesn’t see.

This isn’t really a shipper conversation but pjms and some ARMYs attitude to Yoongi regarding scheduling can also fall under here too. I won’t spend too much time on this because it falls under a subset of BTS related things I don’t like entertaining i.e. their work decisions. It really isn’t mine or any of our places to speak on in my opinion. These conversations are very manti-coded and they’re almost never productive so I’ll move along swiftly.

6. Not every shipper from a toxic shipper fandom is toxic.

This is probably the one and only time I’ll defend some shippers but you can’t group everyone like that. Even if most of the shipper fandom are a bit much, it isn’t any individual shipper’s fault their co-shippers are toxic. It’s sad bro. I feel more sorry for them to be honest like they’re living with psych ward escapees, it’s scary out here. Though this kinda contradicts with this point, I think that’s the reason why these huge toxic fandoms continue to get bigger. I can imagine it’s difficult not to get enveloped and start sharing those opinions when you’re surrounded by them all the time. I still maintain that not all of them are like that though and along those same lines majority non-toxic fandoms also have some rotten eggs. Anyway, non-toxic taekookers and jikookers I’m rooting for you. Fighting!!🥺

7. On the contrary of that last point, I think some non-toxic or seemingly unproblematic shippers reinforce or enable the behavior of the toxic ones.

It’s a very rare occurrence to see these seemingly non-toxic shippers calling out toxic behavior from the co-fandom. I kinda get why so I am not completely blaming yall because I can understand why you may not want to be at odds with the masses. However, I think it’s problematic because some of you start making excuses for their behavior even if you don’t share their opinions or exhibit that behavior yourself. This reinforces and spreads these narratives to more people who now feel justified to make the same comments or act the same way because of all the excuses.

8. Toxic shippers are the same thing in different fonts.

All of you claim your groups are better than each other but turn around and act the same exact way. You hate on members for the same reasons and push many of the same narratives. I really don’t care to say or call out whose worst because all of you are bad in my eyes. I definitely am not kekeke-ing with toxic, delusional shippers about other toxic, delusional shippers being toxic and delusional. Some of y’all are so quick to call out other shippers but it’s crickets when it’s your co-fandom exhibiting the same exact behavior.

9. Shippers are the reason some ships aren’t talked about more—

Take this with a grain of salt because these ships are talked about quite a lot despite all of this. I have seen shippers from very big, majority toxic shipper fandoms say “ARMYs aren’t talking about x ship but if it was y ship they would be celebrating” and I am really sorry to say this but your big, majority toxic shipper fandom is sometimes the reason why. It is really sad and I am not encouraging or defending any of this but it is evident that many people refrain from talking about some ships because they don’t want to be associated with the shippers or attract those shippers into their spaces.

It’s also frustrating because many times the distaste for certain shippers and even solos translates as hate towards that ship or that member and most times that isn’t the case. There are cases where shippers’ behavior actually produces disdain towards the member’s relationship and even the individual members. This point is one I don’t support in any regard because if you present yourself as a fan of these men, there is no reason why random people’s behavior on the internet should interfere with that. I’ve expressed this here before but fandom behavior should not reflect on the boys. Although I do wish we all acted in a way that will be a good reflection of them especially in online spaces, that isn’t always the case unfortunately:(.

10. Jimin didn't give Jungkook a hickey.

And even if you argue "sure friends bite each other on the neck scoffs", it's hard for me to take that moment seriously /especially/ if you are looking at it from a ‘jikook are dating’ perspective. It just doesn’t make sense to me that a closeted couple under their circumstances would even want to imply something like that or something that can even be interpreted like that, especially coming from Jimin. Also the way they talked about it didn’t come across as a couple secretly sharing their relationship. It just seemed like a fun, little joke/story but that’s just my perspective.

11. The message Tae wrote for Jimin on 'Let's BTS' was just what he said.

I find it hard to believe there was any secret message on the note considering the circumstances i.e. filming with a crew they most likely aren’t familiar with and the whole thing being on live TV. If Tae was serious about the note being “for Jimin’s eyes only” and not the other members, I doubt he’d want the crew to see. I think the blurring was only done for dramatic effect and it worked because I'm sure many were floored when Tae said he likes Jimin the most.

12. Car sharing as “proof” is ridiculous.

That’s it, that’s the opinion…

13. Some ships don’t make sense as a romantic pairing.

I think all the boys are close and every pair has had moments that make you do a double take but if I am seriously considering a ship to be romantic, many if not most of them just don’t seem likely to me. I know shipping is a lot about personal perspective and that we all won’t see the same things in the same way but some shippers act like some ships are so obvious and I don’t see it half the time. I swear sometimes I watch these shipping videos trying to force myself into thinking some of these ships are romantic but I simply can't. I feel like some of you are lying to me to be honest.

14. The taennie situation is strange.

Do I even want to go here… This isn’t me claiming that they’re fake or real because I really don’t know. I just want to say that the progression of this situation since the insta follow has been so weird in my eyes. If you told 2021 me that this is where we’d be almost two years later I think I would laugh in your face. The whole Gurumi situation— what even was that? Then the walk… I don’t stand with any cosplayer narratives about that video especially, maybe drop that one cause it’s not looking too good for you guys. I think I have the same outlook on Taennie as any other ship really and that’s just that it’s possible. I don’t think they’re fake but I also don’t think they’re real— I’m just here shrugs.

This was a whole pile of nothing lol. It’s just hard for me to form any decisive opinions with how strange the progression has been. If they are together, good for them and if they aren’t…good for them??

The only thing I’m sure of is that I don’t like taennie shippers. Anyone who spread those alleged leaks just to prove something and supported someone who has posted and threatened to post the types of pictures that Gurumi did for half of their ship— JAIL. I think a lot of them hate other shippers and want to be proven right more than they like the two people in their ship but i’ll just leave it at this (that’s how a lot of shippers come across to me tbh). Sooo… I wrote this weeks before Jennie’s insta post lml I guess cosplayer narratives are completely out the window huh? I maintain what I said in this post. Taennie is still strange to me even after that post but girl do your thing I guess😐

15. JK isn't the possessive alpha male people want him to be.

How so many shippers look at that man and see that is beyond me. I know he has the whole strong, beefed up, tatted up fuckboy look going but something I have always found interesting is that Jungkook, as a person, isn’t that stereotype. He is a total sweetheart and must be protected at all costs. And I obviously don’t know what he’s like off-camera or what he’d be like in a romantic relationship but all shippers go off of BTS content and he doesn’t come across like that to me in there. Half the time you all talk about him being “jeonlous” (the fact that there is a name for it is part of the problem) is just him staring while zoning out or being nosey which he’s so real for because same.

Editing this after ‘Seven’ and I don’t know if seven era proves or disproves my point but I maintain this opinion🙃

16. Pushing the jealousy narrative so much makes me question if you think these people are in a happy or toxic relationship.

Don't get me wrong, jealousy is a normal emotion (within limits) and I think it can even be a little cute sometimes but the amount these jealousy narratives are pushed is concerning to say the least. My thing is why do you think X is jealous because another member touched Y's shoulder so he moved closer to them to show his possessiveness(?). Like I can bet on that not being the case. Even if a ship is real and a couple does exists among the boys, they are not jealous every time their partners so much as touch another member. They’d be mad every second of the day if that was the case. I guess I can see how some of it can come across as jealousy based on how you look at it but frankly, most jealousy moments are stupid. I don’t know how people take some of them seriously.

17. Even if a ship is real, the lives of the members involved in that ship doesn’t revolve around whoever their partner is.

Well this applies to any relationship ever but you can be in a relationship and still be your own person. You should be able to have your own wants, friends, interests etc. outside of your relationship and I can argue that you’re encouraged to do so. Some of the ideas and theories shippers push are borderline toxic, unhealthy and unrealistic expectations of what relationships are or what they should be.

18. I find it weird to use 2013/14 moments as hardcore proof of a ship being real.

There are multiple reasons for this including: I find it creepy *shrugs*. Not only those including JK but especially those including him because he was underage at the time. In general though, I personally find it a bit weird to obsess over the love lives of people 19 years old and younger. Some may argue it’s weird to obsess over anyone’s love life in general and I can agree with that too cause I specified 19 but I cant really explain why 20 is different or acceptable so— Not saying you can’t see things or find it cute but some of these theories especially the sexual ones need to go. Another reason it’s strange to me is because realistically, there most likely isn’t anything there. Maybe a small crush at most but it doesn’t make sense that these boys were really focusing on relationships very seriously back then. Or maybe they were, I would never know. Even if a ship is currently real (that I won’t know either), it doesn’t mean they were into each other back then.

This just reminds me of those taennie shorts I always see on Youtube trying to say they were looking at each other in a blurry clip from an award show in 2017/2018, some of you are very unserious people. Like even if they are (allegedly) dating now— bro I am not gonna explain this cause it’s so obvious (not obvious that they’re dating now but obvious that they probably weren’t dating then. Well no but— sighs bro idk just don’t ask me if I am a taennie shipper ever again I beg). I get a good laugh out of those shorts though so thanks I guess.

I’m in the middle of writing this and just saw a video with 23K likes saying Taekook showed up with hickies the day after JK’s 18th birthday. WTF??? Some of you are so fucking disgusting. I don’t think some shippers even consider the implications of your words because you would shut the fuck up otherwise. Also the people who consume content from people who think like this are also fucked up in the brain. There’s no way y’all are normal seriously. I was having fun writing this but this shit got me heated and threw me off so bad. It’s crazy that that’s the exact same thing I was trying to talk about here. (I never want my posts to be overly explicit but I can’t hold back from being angry about this because really WTH??)

I’ve been thinking about this since I wrote it and wondering if people may see this as an exaggeration or over reaction of that Tkk video so I’ll make my point clear. I don’t think Taekook’s age difference at that point was necessarily wrong…I kinda side eye it (if I look at it from the perspective that they were dating or something back then) but it’s not the worse thing ever. HOWEVER, I think you, AS AN OUTSIDER, pointing out a “hickey” on a freshly 18 year old boy’s neck (there didn’t even seem to be any but that’s besides the point) is very gross, much less implying that his older bandmate was waiting for him to turn eighteen??? I hope other people can see how absolutely disgusting that is because 23 THOUSAND people didn’t.

19. Speaking of youtube shorts— shippers need to stop editing moments out of context or fusing different parts of videos to make their ship seem real.

There are so many times that I watch a short or reel of shippers making it seem like something then go back to the original content and the things didn’t even happen within the same 5 minute span. Why do y’all do that? It’s so annoying and obviously misinforming. This is why it’s very important for fans especially new ones to look at the original content and form their own opinions because some of you cannot be trusted.

20. Shippers need to let go of the eye contact narrative.

People are allowed to look at the people around them especially if they’re speaking or doing something. I might even find it kinda strange if you don’t look in some instances. It comes back to the jealousy thing again but some people also say it’s flirting which… each to their own I guess. This is one where I am torn again because I can sometimes see what you guys mean, there are even staring moments that I hype up sometimes but some moments just don’t give what shippers thinks it does.😕 The funniest ones when it comes to this are those ships with members from other groups. I don’t know how to tell yall that JK isn’t in a long term, loving relationship with Tzuyu or Lisa just cause he looked at them for 3 seconds one time in 2016. The way I’m talking about all sorts of ships here, I did say I am noseyㅠㅠ.

21. It’s okay to form your own opinions even if it differs from the general consensus.

I’m saying this because I am tired of shippers being called “insecure” because they question moments and the validity of their own ship as a romantic pairing. Emphasis on romantic here because I am not a supporter of people questioning if the boys are friends or not— let’s not go too far😑. Anyway, this is for you if you’re scared to be called insecure for your unpopular or out of the box thoughts about your ship— it’s okay. It’s okay and I would say natural, maybe even better to have doubts. None of us know anything for sure, so being completely secure and sure of any ship is delusional, boraward escapee behavior. It doesn’t mean you love them any less, it doesn’t mean the boys love each other any less even if the only thing that exists between them is friendship. It’s okay to not agree with everyone on what a particular moment means. It’s okay to doubt and it’s okay to be the outlier— so question things all you want. As long as you’re respectful and aren’t hating members or other ships or anything along those toxic shipper lines, everything is fine by me (not that you need my approval lol).

22. ALL OF YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF EACH OTHER’S BUSINESS!!!

This is very hypocritical of me cause I’m always in everyone’s business. Well not always but I did tell y’all I’m nosey. The problem with looking into other ship moments comes about when it starts making you mad. If you think it’s gonna upset you that other shippers are blind and they haven’t seen the light (your ship) then stop going into other shipper’s spaces. Stop provoking other shippers, stop engaging in ship wars cause all of you look dumb as hell. Stop trying to get other shipper’s opinion of your ship only to be mad when they don’t agree with you. What did you even expect? Stop putting ships against each other and start realizing that every ship is it’s own thing. I don’t get why there needs to be a scoreboard and we need to prove why certain moments mean something while others don’t. Just enjoy the moments from your favorite ship(s) when you get them and move tf on. Are y’all not tired??? Y’all are draining the fun out of this shipper business. I don’t get how y’all do this day after day, I get tired just reading one or two of these posts sometimes.

23. Shipping just isn’t that serious.

I’m writing this after the next point so sorry if my disinterest in this comes across. I’m just gonna keep it brief— Jikook, Taennie, Taekook, Yoonmin, Liskook etc. etc. are not losing sleep because some people on the internet think they aren’t dating and neither should you. You can relax! Some things just aren’t that serious. You can rest easily knowing that that Jikook won’t break up or Vmin won’t suddenly become mortal enemies because Amanda from South Wales thinks they don’t hang out and aren’t friends anymore. It’s okay! Breathe! In the same way, Yoonmin and Taekook aren’t dating just because you and your moots say they are. Let’s all just get a grip. Y’all are just on Elon’s broken ass app fighting day in and day out and for what…

24. No ship is worth shipping right now.

I’ve been adding to this post for over a month and my outlook on shipping has been evolving during that time. I’ve held back on posting this because I’m not sure if I want to include myself or share these opinions in any public shipper spaces. I just don’t know if I want to talk or hear what anyone has to say about these ships right now. Shipping has just been so boring recently and it’s understandable why— point 2 of this post is one of the most significant reasons plus others.

The conversations I see in shipper spaces have been more or less the same for the past few months: who’s wearing matching clothes/jewelry, who is and isn’t hanging out, who is and isn’t fanservice, debunking or supporting taennie to prove or disprove different ships, who supported who, who went live and talked about who and the list goes on and on… None of these conversations are stimulating or interesting to me in any way and personally I don’t see how anyone can enjoy these constant circular conversations about the same mundane topics. I don’t think there is anything from any ship worth discussing on this scale right now and I’m honestly just bored🫤. The lack of content from your ships is making a lot of you miserable and I can tell cause the conversations y’all are having are making me feel the same way. I log on and all I see are people thinking they got a hold of a life boat and bragging about it despite the life boat being deflated or in many cases non existent, when we’re all sinking with these ships.

Like I mentioned in point 1, the possibility of any ship still exists and I don’t think this period really proves that any one in particular is “real” or not BUT as shippers, it’s okay to admit that we have nothing to work with right now. There’s nothing worth obsessing over for more than 5 minutes and there’s nothing worth fighting for on the bird app the way y’all do. I think it’s okay to give it a rest for a bit. Get a hobby, read a book, touch some grass, go on a walk, fill out a job application—ANYTHING!! Anything else is worth doing than obsessing over these slowly sinking ships. I’m not against anyone talking about their ship or anything (you do you) but the continuous pulling sh!t out of thin air to fight about and talking about the same fucking ring for 5 days in a row is an interesting way to spend your time to say the least.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s not the fact that anyone is still shipping but it’s the way it’s being done. It’s the fact that very minuscule interactions and occurrences are being given any significance. And I mean shipping has always been like this but it’s becoming increasingly annoying to me and whilst I was somewhat engaged before, i don’t feel any need to care that shippers are being shippers (dumb) right now. I’ve still been watching videos of my ship and all of BTS really (I miss them so bad) and I’ll definitely be one of the first ones up when my ship breathes but even then I don’t know…

Anyway, those were my opinions! I may have others but these are all that have come to mind thus far. I don’t think any of this is particularly new or really controversial to be honest. They have all most likely been said before by other people but I just wanted to give my take I guess. Whilst I gave opinions on general subsets of shipper moments (eye contact, jealousy etc..) my views are quite fluid and can change from moment to moment.

Please note that I am not claiming that my views are “correct” because I don’t know anything for sure either so I am not trying to change anyone’s mind here. This is mainly in regard to the specific ship moments I mentioned. I was wracking my brain about whether or not I want to give any of my opinions on specific ships here cause I really want to talk about shipping from a general stand point on this blog. I came to the conclusion that no one would die if I said one thing about jikook or vmin or taennie right…RIGHT???🫣

I didn’t write this in order so the change in tone in different parts compared to others is crazy to me. I went from being so enthusiastic about sharing some of these to not caring much at all lol. I have a few interesting posts about shipping and other BTS-related things I’ve been slooooowwwwwllllllly adding to but I am not sure when or if they’ll ever see the light of day at this point.

i don't mean to stir up more controversy so feel free to not post this ask, but like. yeah. i don't get it. is harry potter a shitty franchise filled to the brim with subtle bigotry and glorification of various nasty outlooks on humanity? kinda, in my opinion, yeah. is it written by, and profited off of by someone actively using their platform to cause harm to human rights? yeah. would i ever want to engage with the content or fandom? no not really. but does this mean that anyone who even breathes in the direction of Harry Potter content is condoning all this bullshit, or kissing the author's shoes and ideologies, and giving them money to harm the people they want to harm? uh.......... no, not really. what the fuck

like............ yeah. like you said it's a huge franchise. literally a silly little Tumblr poll that will realistically get under 10,000 votes, let alone notes or discussions, is not at all going to compare to the reach she already has. and it feels weird to twist the blame that way— this author is using their writing and manipulation skill to earn lots of money and do awful things with it... and suddenly it's the individual fans' fault that she has that money and reach? and not just the fans, but even people that don't actively go out of their way to excommunicate fans of the media?

sorry to rant in your inbox i just. im pretty sick of all this "inaction against a major celebrity is the same as condoning their abuse of power and influence" stuff that people throw around instead of criticizing why our social power structure is based on popularity and engagement in the first place (which is bound to put the most cultish, manipulative, influential, and charismatic people in power). idk it just feels really skeevy to blame people who enjoy or passively tolerate something that's expertly designed specifically to be appealing by a master manipulator.

you don't have to post this (though i also don't mind if you do) i just wanted to like. bring some of my takes into your inbox cause these anons sounding like they're accusing you of queer blasphemy or some shit over literally just.... letting someone hate their anti-blorbo/love their blorbo that they think everyone else hates.... are just really putting me off. like do they get that this is the "oil companies tell poor people global warming is their fault" argument all over again?

This has been sitting in my askbox for a long time because I wasn’t sure how to address it or whether to even address it or just delete it, as it feels like a topic that’s bigger than I am and I can’t ever properly address all of it. But all I’ll say is, while I agree that not all discussion of Harry Potter or other shitty medias is promotion and we as individuals shouldn’t be held accountable for the actions of a transphobic billionaire, it is still important to approach the subject with nuance and make sure the ways in which we talk about it do not spread harm. I think that’s why so many polls decide to ban it and other medias from their polls, because most of them are designed to find the “best” of something and to insinuate that something from one of those medias can be the best could be harmful. That’s why I’m not gonna post any asks that defend the series as a whole or the franchise as a property, because it’s not right to even humor those who want to downplay transphobia and antisemitism (among others). Aaaanyways all this to say if people discourse about Harry Potter characters in the notes or askbox go for it just remember the real people impacted by the bigotries present in it when considering the way you want to make your discussions

Shouting into the void with a long rant, but I’m sort of confused by some of the takes I’ve been seeing about the Jikook NYC trip. Basically, I don’t understand why people think it’s weird that Jimin went radio silent or that neither of them have acknowledged the trip. I’m surprised because I’ve seen quite a few people saying this on multiple platforms.

Jimin never updates us on what he’s doing on a work trip? He barely uses social media or updates us on his life at all (can’t believe he actually forgot his password 😭) so honestly why were people expecting him to be actively posting things while in NY? He literally just went to London, completely disappeared, came back and then finally shared pictures of his HP tour on Instagram. And we still have no idea what he was actually in London for, he just ghosted us until he was back. So, there’s nothing odd about him going to NY and disappearing if he didn’t have a public appearance to attend.

At the end of Jungkook’s live he said he had schedules to go to that he couldn’t talk about, but that he thought ARMY would enjoy. Then he left and presumably met up with Jimin. So I think we can infer that the schedule he was referring to probably had something to do with whatever Jikook were doing in CT. And they had a camera crew with them, GoPros, and mics, so they were definitely filming content. Jungkook literally said in his live he couldn’t talk about what he was doing… so, why do people find it weird that they… didn’t talk about what they were doing? They’re especially not going to acknowledge something that is supposed to be a future project.

Anyways, there are a lot of interesting mysteries about their CT trip! And regardless of their motives, it seems like jkk had a lot of fun and Jimin was still physically present for JK during a monumental moment in his life. But I think there are some points that people are emphasizing as ‘weird’ or ‘significant’ or ‘suspect’ that have me scratching my head a bit because it contradicts what we know about them as individuals and the little bits of information we have about their trip.

And I’ll cap this rant post off with something else that’s been bothering me. It’s not weird or significant that Jimin didn’t appear in Jungkook’s post GMA live. That wasn’t a normal live, and it’s not really comparable to the one that JH did after Lolla or YG did after his concert. This was the first live that JK did after his debut as a soloist, and he used it to talk about the MV and his song. I’m assuming it was meant to be like the ones that the other members did where they talked about their albums a bit. That’s definitely not the sort of live Jimin would or should make an appearance on. It was basically part of an official schedule for JK.

If you have been in any part of the 911 fandom this season, on any social media platform the show is heavily discussed on, I know for a fact you’ve seen fans calling for Edy to be fired. Same goes for Ryan, which has been happening for the last four years. If you haven’t seen either, why did you decide to involve yourself in the conversation regarding Lou?

That man is 40 years old, and while it’s been discussed that he might have changed in the last decade, although unlikely given his comment on how Tommy was just “teasing” Chim and Hen, most people did decide it was whatever. Wrong, but likely to go ignored by the network and other cast members since it happened years ago. However, he decided to double back and down on his past behavior, by being ableist not even 24 hours ago.

Now, I don’t know much about the previous supporting cast, because I stepped back from show in s4/5 when Ryan put his foot in his mouth. But I have seen it said both Carla and Ana’s actresses were homophobic, but I also haven’t seen proof of that nor anyone actually support those women coming back to the show. So the consistency is very much there. Same goes for Rockmond Dunbar being fired. He’s anti-vax and homophobic, and not a single person wants him back. In fact, people are actively asking for him to be recast, because we miss his Michael, and his bond with Bobby.

So what makes Lou different? Thus far, the only people being advocated for are the white actors, and while I do understand and have said myself Ryan’s actions seem the most redeemable, isn’t it funny how a white (although Latino) actor gets to stay employed after a racist (even if mild) rant? How a white actress (although Latina) gets to be transphobic and stay employed all season? Yet Rockmond was fired. The actress playing Ana was fired. The actress playing Carla was either fired or significantly cut back on being called to set.

Mind you, I’m not advocating for any of them, because fuck their bigoted views, but let’s keep it real. Tim and co were not part of building an inclusive set, and it shows because Hollywood is Hollywood. Actors are the biggest grifters, but there should still be a line, right? 911 doesn’t have one for the white staff, and I’ll be shocked if anything actually happens to Lou, but let’s not pretend, okay?

If you like him and see no reason to stop, good for you. I can’t tell you who to support and who not, but again, stop the pretend. Lou’s a dick, based on what he has posted on his own social media past and present. It’s that simple, unless he can prove he was hacked on Twitter, but conveniently chose to open up IG and delete the exact photo the hacker brought attention to with their response. Which I doubt. He’s as chronically online as all us other late gen x, millennial, and early gen z folks are, and could have deleted the stuff a long ass time ago.

Ok, so, just to preface this, I’m not entirely sure what my sexual orientation is (I’m still trying to figure that out) and I have ptsd from traumatic experiences with a man which might be attributing to my stress over dating but this is the situation:

There’s a guy that I’ve known for a while. We grew up together in the same church (which we’ve both left by now) but I didn’t really know him that well then. Anyway, I hadn’t seen him in several years until about 2-3 years ago when he messaged me on Facebook wanting to go on a date. My parents convinced me to go on it with him and I remember being super nervous about it then, but I went. It was ok, but I wasn’t really interested in him and told him that I wasn’t looking to date now and that I just wanted to be friends. He seemed ok with this but still kept flirting with me and messaging me, not in an aggressive way but i just wanted him to stop altogether. I just remained civil with him and never texted first, but would respond to his messages if he texted me. Anyway, he messaged me about a year later asking if I wanted to go out again and I told him that I was busy because telling him that I just wanted to be friends wasn’t working and then we didn’t talk for over a year. I thought that he finally got the hint, but he just messaged me again a few days ago wanting to hang out again. I was considering just not responding to his message but my family and all of my coworkers made me feel like I’d be a piece of shit if I did that so I responded and offered him my number as it’d be a better way of contacting me than social media. (I haven’t been on it in like a year). I felt ok with the decision when I wrote up the response and was talking with my coworkers, but now that he’s responded I’m super nervous that I’ve opened a can of worms.

The thing is, he’s not ugly, but there are a couple things that I think are major that are stopping me from wanting to hang out with him. First off, he’s a marine and he’s super conservative. This might be my biggest drawback about the whole situation. Also, he draws anime porn for guys in the military (at least three years ago he did). If that’s his thing then whatever, but me personally, I’m not into that. Lastly, he just doesn’t seem to want to take no for an answer. This is like the third year that he’s messaged me wanting to go on a date and I’m not sure why he is so adamant on dating me. He’s a few years older than me and from what I’ve seen he hasn’t dated anyone in the time that I’ve known him. It all just seems a little strange and feels like a red flag, but everyone that I’ve talked to says that it’s either not as big a deal as I’m making it out to be or that it’s not a problem and I should give him another chance because he might have changed.

He’s always been pretty nice, if a little awkward/uncomfortable when talking to me, but I don’t think I’m interested. Of course I could be psyching myself out too because it’s been several years since I’ve been on a date and I’ve never had good experiences. Also, my self esteem is terrible and I’m super self conscious about myself and honestly wondering why he likes me too. I just worry if I’m right about the things giving me pause or if I’m making this a big deal and also what I should do. I think I’d like to be in a relationship (just in general), but I also don’t think dating should make me feel this anxious.

Super sorry for the rant I’m just trying to organize my scrambled thoughts.

I told myself to stop using social media because I have finals next week but I have the conviction of a sopping wet paper towel and I am deprived of nutrition.

Also I hate how some parts of the liyue quests(mainly chasm and Azdaha) was concluded but I’ll save that for last cause it’s wifey time.

Imagine wifey dying and becoming a restless ghost not like the malevolent kind but canonically souls who do not move on because of unfinished business or they haven’t lived fulfilled lives kinda just stay around? How do you think the ginko fam feels knowing that the reason why wifey hasn’t moved to the other side is because of them? Since souls who stay too long have consequences for staying at the material plane (side note but I am not okay at the fact that every single former wangsheng Director has never stayed behind and have always moved to the other side because all of them live fulfilled lives by protecting the living world from malevolent spirits and guiding restless ones to the other side…I can’t im not okay 😭)

Ok now onto the rant part feel free to skip :>

I. HATE HOW THE CHASM AND ITS IMPLICATIONS WAS CONCLUDED. In the chasm they attempted to humanise the Fatui to show that they’re not just moustache twirling villain (ok granted I haven’t played the Fontaine quests so my anger may be misplaced) LIKE LITERALLY one of the optional world quest you can take is helping a group of ABANDONED FATUI GET SUPPLIES BECAUSE AFTER WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LIYUE ARCBON QUEST THEY WERE ABANDONED DOWN THERE WITH NO COMMUNICATION AND NO SUPPLIES. Plus the Fatui in the chasm were literally there to help liyue with its development since signora was the one who set up the mining contract between the Fatui and the liyue Qixing. So the Qixing. With god whatever was going on in their head. Removed the surface Fatui officers from their posts and cut of supplies to the Fatui down below the chasm. I CANNOT EVEN EXPLAIN HOW FUCKING CRUEL THAT IS…. Yeah yeah sure Fatui killed your god(allegedly) so you’re justified in feeling angry at them… BUT TO LEAVE SEVERAL TEAMS OF FATUI DOWN THERE WITH NO SUPPLIES??? NO COMMUNICATION??!?? YOU WILLINGLY LEFT THEM DOWN THERE KNOWING THERE WAS MYSTERIOUS ABYSS SHENANIGANS?????? Yeah so by the time we get there we meet up with a team of Fatui to give them food and they explain to you that the Fatui down here are fractured since communication was cut from topside. And they’re still down there btw. It makes me sick every time I have to fight Fatui when I’m in the chasm… and also because of Fatui being left in the chasm to essentially die we also meet another Fatui cincin mage in a makeshift camp (which the traveller attacks first no questions ask I have so many gripes with how the game treats the Fatui) after defeating her she begs for mercy and said that she was with her brother when they got separated because the chasm monsters attacked and she asked can the traveller go and help her brother.

Seeing the bloody Fatui badge broke me, and when you give her, her brother’s items that he left behind she asked to be left alone (assuming to grieve) and said that the traveller is free to come later to talk to her since she won’t be leaving anytime soon. I really hate how the fandom and the game itself treats the Fatui like they’re a bunch of moustache twirling villains when the game also attempts to humanise them. Just… just pick one god damn it.

Ok now onto Azdaha. During his fight we discovered that the reason why he had eroded to such a state was because humans has drained the leylines of their elemental energy in other words they were literally hurting Azdaha and he attacked them in self defense in response to that Rex Lapis sealed him away citing erosion and breaching of contract. Because of this Azdaha was left to stew in his betrayal and he was still hurting while sealed away because again THE HUMANS MINED THE CHASM TO THE POINT WHERE THE LEYLINES ITSELF WAS DRAINED OF ELEMENTAL ENERGY. And the reason why this makes me so mad is because Zhongli doesn’t fucking question it… LIKE HELLO IS THERE A BRAIN IN THERE YOUR FRIEND LITERALLY TOLD YOU THAT HUMANS WAS HURTING HIM ANS YOUR RESPONSE WAS THAT THE AGE OF ADEPTI WERE OVER??????

I love Zhongli I really do but I cannot being to explain to you how much I despised him at that point which is great because it shows that it is along his character flaws and oh god I’m gonna cut myself off before I start about Zhongli

I'm not gonna have the love stage rant rn because it goes into discussion of sexual assault but just know I am Ready to go off.

Anyways, I think the kids would have very mixed reactions/thoughts on Wifey as a ghost. Some, namely Feng, are happy to see them, but generally they all would feel a deep ache at the sight of them because... they shouldn't be here. It's nice they want to stay and watch over their children, but Wifey's done enough. They can go to rest now. Please, you can rest now...

It was only a matter of time before dispatch sniffed you out. You had been lucky in your past relationships, the women you dated were content with having dates in your car, parked in a remote spot. But your current girl was different. She didn’t want to hide, and neither did you.

“What’s the worst that could happen?” She asked one day.

A few things came to your mind but you kept quiet. You weren’t 25 anymore, hiding your girlfriends or claiming they’re relatives. If you refused to acknowledge her, she would leave.

“You’re right! Enough with the hiding game.”

You took her hand in yours, leaving the clothing store you were basically trapped in.

You had come in through the front entrance, noticing that a few fans were nervously eyeing your every move from a distance. Your girlfriend had arrived later, slipping in through the back entrance. But now the place was swamped with fans and photographers. Leaving together would definitely result in a few articles on the internet.

“Let’s go!”

You grabbed her hand, lacing your fingers through hers.

You were both wearing sunglasses and baseball caps, and while people still knew it was you, they couldn’t identify the woman next to you.

“Jay, who’s your girlfriend?”

“How long have you known each other?”

You felt the grip on your hand tighten and took bigger stairs until you reached your car. As you as you got in, the driver sped off.

Removing the disguise, your girlfriend let out a long, strained breath.

“Honestly? It could’ve been worse.”

She nodded her head and stared out the window.

The next morning you discovered some articles online, reporting about your public outing.

When your girl saw them she wrinkled her nose, taking every word too personal.

“They’re just pulling stuff out of their asses because they have nothing to go on. Don’t mind them!”

“But people will believe them!”

She went on about her day and you left shortly after as well. You met again in the evening and you could tell right away she wasn’t in a good mood.

Before you could ask her about it, she started ranting.

“Do these people enjoy telling lies? Couldn’t they get a normal job? Is the pay that good? Do they have no conscience?”

“What happened?”

“A colleague asked me about the articles at work. I didn’t say much but then I caught several of them gossiping in the restroom.”

“What did they say?”

“That you could do better.”

You started laughing and as a result enraged your girlfriend even more.

“Do you agree?”

“No. See? That’s why I was against making our relationship public at first. I knew what would happen.”

“I’m fine. It may have bothered me for a bit but it didn’t get to me.”

“Still, I think I should post a statement on social media.”

“Not necessary. I promise I’m fine.”

“If someone gives you a hard time at work again you tell me right away, understood?”

She nodded, walking into your embrace.

“Nobody messes with my girl!”

A Postmortem

Some thoughts below the cut! Or, all the things I’ve been holding in that can now be out in the open, a memoir by...oh. Right. As I was saying!

There’s an upbeat version of this posted to itch.io, but I figure we can be a slight bit more honest over here.

It’s hard to be creative when you’re so sad.

There’s a quote from one of my favorite rom-coms that I’ve read maybe a million times but resonated with me this year.

It’s such a nasty slap in the face to work on something that brings you joy and that you hope will bring joy to others and feel your brain actively work to take that away from you. And then all your leftover energy is sucked away by outside circumstances. The whole year was a struggle, and I think I cried so much that I contributed to my perpetual hydration lol.

It’s a blessing that the script for HSD:JY was complete and the game deep into production early this year because either there would have been no game OR the tone would have been so outside of my original goal. 2020, the year of conception, I remember being hopeful. And spiteful. And DAMN did I ever have a leading healthy emotion during the creation of this game???

I’d had my last rant session with friends and family about one of my previous obsessions, the mobile app Choices, which taught me love, patience, and pain. All in that order. The BLM protests were reaching a fever pitch, and the app had put out a statement that made me see red. My Black body, and my sister’s Black and queer body weren’t being seen, not being represented in the gaming space like I’d always believed they could, and I just couldn’t take it anymore. So I said fuck it, I’ll make the game I want to play. I’ll color it with my experiences, and I’ll focus on the demographic that is either degraded or infantilized.

2021 was colored by fear and spite, and then eventually I was excited again. My audience had started finding me and I realized I had eyes on me. But I was afraid that I was in over my head, afraid of asking for help and reaching out to people (I seem to have more bad luck than good when it comes to asking for help and it makes me second guess myself.) I had a loose timeline of what I wanted to accomplish, all while lurking on various discords, reading the ren’py documentation, and hopping on YouTube to teach me the things I needed to know.

Thinking back, there’s really nothing I would make myself do differently. I did the best I could with what I had. And there’s no way I could have predicted how 2022 would affect me or what would happen this year. So. Hence me always signing off my devlogs with “be kind/gentle with yourself” because I know what happens when you’re not.

Marketing is a bitch. But so am I. When I want to be.

I think I actively promoted my game like five times. I wasn’t looking to make a huge ground-breaking experience. I just wanted people who liked cute teen games with romance to find my game. But guess what??? That still requires marketing. 🤮

I’m so, so, so thankful to the other developers I met and the early supporters who spread my game when I either wouldn’t (stubborn) or couldn’t (brain go burrr) but it does not make up for actively promoting my game on a consistent basis. I get it. So. I need to either suck it up or like hire an honest to goodness marketing director or social media person or something. I will probably do neither of these things. 💩

That 2-star review will not kill you. Pinky promise.

Oooof, I see why authors don’t look at their reviews. But I need to know how to better myself!!! I do like seeing high ratings, but what makes my day is when people take the time to write out why they did or didn’t like something I created. To the person who wasn’t too happy that HSD:JY is told from a female perspective with she/her pronouns, I understand your frustration and I’m sorry my game wasn’t for you.

...for the fool who gave my game 2 stars but didn’t bother to explain their rating?? I’m taking it personal. So personal. I’ll hold my grudge forever 😂😂😂

Go where you want, not where you think you should be.

I think that just because a creative community gathers mostly in one place, doesn’t mean you should force yourself to spend time there. Yes, this is directed towards Twitter, but I also say this for Reddit and Discord, two other communities that I tried to find a rhythm with and ended up exhausting myself trying to participate in.

Hummingbird Games has a Twitter presence (barely) because I thought I had to be like the other indie game devs and make a home there. Instead, it’s become another place I talk about every other game except my own 😂 but with less characters! It feels a lot like I got a seat at the adult table, but I abandoned it to go draw with crayons on the back porch until it’s dinner time.

You’ve learned so much. Now learn some more.

I made music tracks that are in my game! I reached out to artists, a GUI and a character one and was anxious as hell but I did it. I went through three different text editors against my will and my hatred for sudden change, but I survived. Mostly. Canva and Photopea were my best friends! And they shall continue to be the tools I use until I die!

I would like to eventually code in accessibility options into HSD, both the full game and the bonus game, and of course have them moving forward. Also, while I never got around to doing it for this project, I’d like to incorporate character customization. It was a planned option (along with CGs, SOB!) that got cut due to lack of funds.

I also will make sure that I have some kind of beta testing moving forward. Yes, I did it for this project but looking back on it, with a few awesome people who gave me useable feedback, the overall process was such a trainwreck! I didn’t know what I was doing, and it bled into my confidence. I will do better next round.

You should stick with writing (affectionate)

I can’t draw. I cussed and cried every time programming was involved. Music was okay but I had more fun searching for tracks I liked and could use over creating my own stuff (which I did only because at the time nothing I came across fit my audio needs.)

But the drafting stage? And the writing and rewriting and the revelations I had? Super fun. 10/10, would recommend. If I can move into a direction where I can continue to delegate tasks to others and leave myself to focus on the writing and storytelling aspect, that would be the dream.

But. I am a solo dev. I still gotta put in the work 😭 So continue to look forward to posts of me crying and complaining about how much I suck and it sucks. I will sugar coat nothing.

If money doesn’t buy happiness, why does it make life so much easier????

There’s really nothing to elaborate on. Making a game is so expensive, oh my God, and while I hated the call center job I had, it helped fund 80% of this game, and that was more helpful that I realized.

But moving forward, I will seriously consider looking into grants. I’m not sold on crowd funding, and I’d rather not have to dip into my job paycheck so much to cover gaming expenses. I know other developers do this, and I did it too, but I don’t know how sustainable this would be for me. Plus there’s other things I wanna buy and it’s super unfair (to me) to have to choose between affording a programmer’s rates or additional poses for character sprites 🥺

You’ll need to recover

I know everyone is different and therefore it’s the only reason that explains why I made a game and I feel like death, and others have made a game or games and have already jumped into production for their next project.

...how does it feel to have endless energy? I wish I was like some of y’all but I really just want to sleep. Knowing this about myself now, I’ll need to factor in a ‘recovery period’ after each completed production cycle. I know a bunch of factors are involved in my slow down period, but whether it’s two months, or two years, I guess my body will let me know 😭

RANT:

Okay this isn’t my usual rant but I’m just going to rant about this stupid ass fucking ad about Candace Owens making a whole damn series exposing where the BLM funds go. I’m tired of this whole conservative vs. liberal bullshit, when are we going to put the damn labels down and function like actual human beings. This shit is clown behavior and it’s one of the reasons why no one likes her fucking ass, I still haven’t forgotten about that stupid ass post she did with Kanye West but I’ll get back to that a little later. I just wanna put it out there that a lot of people that think exactly like her are always so quick to say things like “BLM is full of rioters” or “BLM destroyed their own things!” or even “BLM is a scam”, and the only thing I get is the destruction and vandalism and stuff. That was wrong of them to do and I know a lot of them were probably angry or upset at such slow progress with rising issues but that wasn’t the way to go, there’s no way I can defend that. But what I will say is that I hate how it completely overshadowed the actual victims and their families who are associated in BLM because they truly do want justice. We’re not complaining because police brutality is fucking real, sorry to burst your bubble, and it’s taken too many innocent lives. There’s too many family members out there who have suffered and are continuing to suffer because of the lack of accountability and actual compensation from the police department. You guys tend to forget that not everyone in the movement is there to just fucking riot, it’s real people who are in a desperate need for justice and change. Why not separate them from that when you know just flat out saying “BLM is all riots and destruction” is just invalidating their pain.

Now, you may be asking yourself, what does this have to do with the ad or the series? I’ll tell you that now. She brings up sources and receipts talking about how the leaders of BLM take the money they receive and basically it just “vanishes” in mid air. Honestly, I’ve been trying to research that whole thing and I’m gonna be transparent… None of it really adds up, there’s some sources that says it was a hoax and social media users just made it up while there’s others who claim it to be true so I’m really on the fence about it since there’s not a lot of solid proof about it that I can confidently refer to. But if it is true and she is concerned about people supporting and funding BLM why not start your own movement to help the families who were affected? I don’t get how exposing the movement is supposed to help anyone. Yeah, now you have your point across and now people can refer to your series to “prove” it’s true but at the end of the day you’re only invalidating the families affected. Like I said earlier if you move away from the fucking leaders and everything you get the families and friends of people affected by police brutality, these people are not just marching and going to all of these protests just because they’re fucking bored and they have nothing to do, in some why they’re all connected to the root of BLM which is to advocate for those suffering at the hands of corrupt police officers. If you care enough to make a whole series about it why not shed some light on the families who haven’t seen justice for their deceased or prosecuted loved ones for years. Why not fund some other organization or create a new one that won’t cheat people out of their money? If you have the access and money for a series then you can definitely try and reach out to actual victims. It’s just slimy fucking behavior that instead of doing all of this she makes it seem like BLM in itself is a scam and fraud and no one should pay attention to it, you’re literally taking away attention from the real people involved in this shit maybe you should reevaluate what kind of shit you spread.

Now that I’ve got that down we’re going to talk about her infamous photoshoot with motherfucking Kanye West. First of all, can everyone please stop egging this guy on? You’re all not helping he obviously has a lot of mental issues and you guys playing into them for your own gain is disingenuous. Kanye is known for doing crazy shit all the damn time even out of the expense of others, why you decided to follow him is wack on your part and speaking of his mental issues, I’m not trying to say that he’s a damn baby or anything or that his mental issues is why he does all of this weird shit I have mental issues and I’ve never thought about doing half the shit he does. He’s just a weird person, his mental issues shouldn’t excuse his actions and behavior because they’re still hurting people. Like this “White Lives Matter” thing, it irks my spirit that people continue to feed into this bullshit really thinking that it’s some fucking peaceful sign of equality. They’re obviously disrespecting the actual movement, the people who created that entire thing do not care about the black lives being taken away every single and threatened either, these people don’t care that racism and the lack of emotional intelligence is killing and harming innocent people every single day, why you chose to endorse something like that is beyond me but honestly I’m not surprised anymore. I’m just sick and tired of this bullshit, stop being fucking “woke” for once and show some damn sign of humanity. It’s like you’re soulless shells or something, society should not be evolving backwards and we should not be showing such low amounts of emotional intelligence and maturity.
