This is a rant about switch 2 and nintendo’s shitty fucking practices.
It’s gonna be a ramble and it’s probably something that’s not even gonna be read by other people, but I have a bit of a rant regarding the switch 2 because I am UPSET and this info needs to be spread the fuck around, because y’all need to not buy this shit at this price.
I want to start this off by saying that I have been around Nintendo my entire life. All 25 fucking years.
My first console of my own was a GameCube, and I owned EVERY. SINGLE. CONSOLE. that they made for about 18 years. I COLLECTED them. I owned a FUCKING VIRTUAL BOY. THE WORLD’S MOST STUPID FUCKING CONSOLE BECAUSE I LOVED NINTENDO.
Nintendo has recently doubled down on their price points and everything else they’ve been doing wrong, to the point of essentially stating “if you’re broke just go buy the switch 1”. They have blocked off a button on the switch 2 and put it behind a paywall (yes, a physical button on the console). They are charging money for a “game” that is literally just a showcase of what the switch 2 does—essentially being just what PS5’s original AstroBot was—of which one of the mini games in it is literally just “guess the frame rate”. I wish that was a joke.
I’m tired. It’s really wild to me that right now no one can afford food or rent or any of the other basic things that we need to survive and we have companies like Nintendo that are being predatory as all living hell and who are outpricing their consumers—most of which are families—out of being able to afford their console.
And look, I know that there’s gonna be people out there that are like “gaming is not a necessity, it’s a luxury” and you’re right it absolutely is. However, the world is on fucking fire, governments all around the world are imploding, Nazis are fucking everywhere, none of us can afford food or a roof over our heads (let alone a roof that’s not falling apart or rotting in some way), and at this point, I think what most of us have left are the little things that make us happy. Whether that’s gaming or our pets or family or reading or whatever your hobbies might be. So it’s incredibly frustrating to watch a company that’s supposed to be accessible and is supposed to be able to get new generations into gaming completely throw that out the window. Poor people deserve nice things too, and it is incredibly unfair to watch a company try to make gaming a hobby of the one percent.
fuck capitalism. fuck nintendo. fuck 2025. and fuck all of this.
i’m so fucking done.
#nintendo#nintendo switch#switch 2#switch games#fuck nintendo#fuck capitalism#fuck all of this shit#boycott nintendo#boycott these bullshit ass prices#fuck your $90 games#and your $450 console#you predatory asses#make gaming accessible#gaming isn’t just for the rich#fuck the one percent#fuck the rich#eat the rich#fuck them#doubling down are you fucking serious#are you fucking serious Nintendo#you pretentious sons of bitches#fuck switch 2#Nintendo direct

i will never forgive frameratebros and critics and all those reddit guys who complained and complained about the switchs visuals
we had a portable console that could run breath of the wild and guilty gear strive and DOOM and persona 5 like a champ and almost everything on the console was $60 and it was cheaper than the competition and it was wonderful and well done
but nooooobody online would accept it, they just complained about "oh nintendos so far behind the switch is so broken and cant run anythiiing" blah blah blah
THERE YOU GO NOW the games are absolutely beautiful and now theyre $80. are you happy. $450 console with $80 games. you got your precious framerates are you HAPPY now
i wouldve loved a world where they just keep on with the switch 1 and every game was like pokemon legends arceus and fire emblem three houses where they dont give a care for graphics but focus on making actual fun passionate heart filled games
but NOOOO you gotta make sure the trees are more detailed than the sistine chapel and the game runs at 5000 poopfarts per hour
i cant even tell the difference between the upgraded botw and switch 1 one. what was the internet complaining so much about this looks the exact same come on
critics have killed gaming, the internets obsession with visuals have ruined everything, fun is no longer the focus of games and everything is almost $100. thank you very much :/

Okay, just making a better, proper post for it --
I'm opening one special commission slot for a minimum of one full-body character, with background and full colour at my usual rate (450€) - additional characters are permitted, but they'll be priced accordingly to my rates.
As it's for a special occasion - offering Dragon Age:Veilguard and its console to my partner - I'd be more than happy to draw DA-related pieces from any game! But of course, any other OC or character is fine :)
Here are some examples of my art to those who might have not seen me before:

Send me a message or an e-mail ([email protected]) to secure your spot if you're interested! Thank you <3
#text post#i need a me tag#dragon age#dragon age the veilguard#i hope you don't mind me coming in to your tags !!#i do have da art in store but i can't release it yet...#anyway please consider getting a slot if you want and can !! i don't open many of these these days

pvpve fromsoft game exclusive to a $450 console hows it lookin
I'm really hoping "pvpve" is a pr fumble like calling nightreign a survival game and it just means sp/co op with invasions. "up to 8 players" is concerning but ideally it's just covenant stuff like how you could have up to 6 guys in your game in ds3.
I am not buying a switch 2, but I at least have hope for a port since switch ports to PC generally run fine, as opposed to playstation ports which often trend towards unplayable

No-BS Nintendo Switch 2 Information
There is a LOT of speculation and misinformation going around about the Nintendo Switch 2 so I thought I'd make this post to clear some of it up. All my sources are directly from Nintendo's website or official Nintendo sources.

FAQs
How do I upgrade my Switch 1 Game to the Switch 2 Version?
It's a DLC purchase. Depending on how much new content is added the cost varies.
Examples:
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - $20 for added story DLC.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - $10 for added content.
Both base games for the Switch 1 are $60.
(Bill Trinen via IGN)
If you haven't bought the games before, they are available for physical purchase at a new price point, containing the added Switch 2 content.
(via Walmart)
Some games with receive free compatibility upgrades to boost performance.
What is a Game Key Card?
Previous "Digital Only" physical titles would be an empty plastic box with a code written inside. Game Key Cards are to replace that written code. This, in theory, ties games to the key card instead of your account, allowing them to be downloaded multiple times across multiple systems, along with allowing them to be resold.
Not all games will use the Game Key Card, many will still use standard Game Cards. As an example, Kirby and The Forgotten Land posted above does NOT use a Game Key Card. Read your game boxes before a purchase to find out which you are buying.

I will update this post as new information comes out or is requested!

Buried in the legalese is a clause that says if you try to bypass system protections, modify software, or mess with the console in a way that’s not approved, Nintendo can take action. And that action could include completely disabling your system. The exact wording makes it crystal clear: Nintendo may “render the Nintendo Account Services and/or the applicable Nintendo device permanently unusable in whole or in part.”
So Nintendo is charging $450 for a console that they can brick on a whim if they decide they don't like how you're using it. Awesome!

With the tariffs, prices aren't going down across the board. Besides, $450 is still cheaper than the competition.
1) I'm not from the US, its around the same price or more expensive in EU/UK/Canada (cheaper in Japan tho)
If it was like especially expensive only in the US then I'd agree its only down to tariffs
2) I'm not actually bothered by the console's price, it's a lot but I mean ps5 Pro was like $700, switch is claiming it can do 4k 120fps this is what consoles cost
But when I say "switch 2 is expensive" it's not just the box itself. Ppl expected the big games to go up to 70 dollars but $80 for Mario kart?? In this economy???
Not to mention how many new features are only useful if you buy Nintendo switch online, the requirement for special SD cards, the paying to upgrade your switch 1 games to the switch 2 version (I'm not as bothered by this one as long as the price isn't too high but like it adds up...)
Also that switch 2 tour demo thing costing money at all??
[Insert the section of the Jenny Nicholson Star Wars Hotel video where she explains that you shouldn't charge luxury prices if you're going to use the Spirit Airlines nickle and diming approach to pricing]
I don't even remember if the Nintendo Kinect camera is sold separately or not
3) what they showed us was cool but tbh there's nothing i couldn't live without (especially if you don't have NSO like me, so even that cool looking Mario kart wouldn't be something I pick up)
It looks good... if you pick it up in a year's time when there's more games
I'm not an economist or trying to suggest a grand protest
I was just giving my thoughts on the direct "that's neat, now let's wait until its a better deal"

$80 for games and $450 for the console are you out of your goddamn minds
YES it's insane how much development goes into games but this is so anti consumer. I'm going to have to pick and choose games even more with my limited time, being an adult

The problem with the pricing of the Switch 2 isn't necessarily the actual pricing itself. 450 was an expected price of the Switch 2. It wasn't an anticipated price but it was a price people were willing to tolerate. And 70 dollars was...actually pretty despaired over but still somewhat tolerated.
The problem is the psychological effects. I mean, there's a reason why there was a big focus of ports from gaming's recent greatest hits in the Direct. An issue with the Switch was that it was so underpowered that you just couldn't GET many new big games. Because of that, the Switch's low power created an environment where you couldn't get most of the big hits outside of Nintendo, causing a perceived opportunity cost. Sure, you still had great games but that downer feeling persisted. Marketing exists for a reason: psychology IS an aspect of business.
Now you have the full reveal of an anticipated continuation of one of the biggest consoles of all time. Important questions such as backwards compatibility have been answered. Big hit games are also being hinted at like with Metroid Prime 4 that you can experience. There's a lot of hype for the new console which can easily be converted into sales, especially since it releases in a couple of months. Reveal some good first party titles, like say a new Mario Kart with a big twist or the first solo DK game in a long time, along with some ports and you have a great base for the launch.
Except that psychological effect kicks in. The prices aren't amazing but they're not bad either. Rather standard for the most part. But then you have that big new Mario Kart, your launch title, is revealed to be costing 10 bucks above an already controversial standard. Upgrades for games cost an extra 10 bucks, 20 if they have some small DLC in it. And your stated tech demo, meant to sell people on the console, is locked behind a paywall too. On the whole, they're not that large. People can be a bit more conservative and save up a little more. Honestly with comments about backlog, people probably should be more careful with buying new games. But it feels bad. And it doesn't matter if some of this stuff is logical, that feeling persists and persuades people to not buy. Combine that with the reputation for being the most COST EFFICIENT option and you have a recipe to botch your momentum.
Honestly, stuff like the paid upgrades and 450 asking price isn't that bad from my perspective. I would like a lower price but personally I would likely just ask for it as a present for the holiday or something (I am notorious in my family for being TERRIBLE to get presents for since I just don't care most of the time). And these upgrades likely did cost development time and money somewhere: games are made with console limitations in mind so slapping higher resolutions and framerates won't work unless carefully done so it's not that bad, especially since Sony and Xbox do ask for payments for upgrades on consoles that frankly hit a brick wall with visuals and not even for popular games (how long have people asked for 60 FPS Bloodborne?). But even then, I'm still heavily considering trying to wait Nintendo out. Now consider people who don't have my views and circumstances. ... Yeah, not a good look, huh?
There is some possible good news. Nintendo is halting pre-orders until April 9th, supposedly about the new tariffs and 'market conditions.' It could mean a price hike because the guy voted in by libertarians doesn't get the issues with tariffs but the 'market conditions' could POSSIBLY refer to the public backlash against the price (the Nintendo Treehouse livestreams, meant to hype up the release, have been dominated by people spamming 'drop the price' in the live chat). So there MIGHT be some hope.
Keep your expectations tempered.

Switch 2 Price: Objectively
Before I get started let me just say that I absolutely agree that $450 is a lot of money, not denying that one bit. Please do not be mean in the comments, I am mildly autistic and was abused as a child so I cry stupidly easy.
It goes without saying that some of this price has also been adjusted due to the new 24% tariffs on Japanese goods. (This has not been confirmed by Nintendo but it follows the market trend of companies passing those costs directly to consumers).
With that out of the way, lets look at the hardware specifications of the Switch 2 that have been confirmed by Nintendo and nvidia.
4k 120 FPS when docked
7.9" 1080p HDR LCD screen built in
DLSS, ray tracing, and g-sync support
256GB SSD storage
These specifications put the Switch 2 firmly above the capability of a PS4 in the form factor of what is essentially a tablet. The Switch 1 was about as capable as the PS3, which is also somewhat impressive for the formfactor. While we likely won't have actual benchmark tests until review units go out near launch, we can still see that the hardware is quite good based on the info we have. Now let's take a look devices with similar capability of Switch 2 that are currently available on the market.
PS5
The PS5 is a more powerful system than Switch 2 without a doubt with Sony originally toting 8k resolution support. However it is also a much larger device and is notoriously sold at a loss as has been the trend with all console manufacturers since the 1970s. The PS5 slim comes in at the same $450 as Switch 2 due to its lack of Bluray drive. It also cannot be played anywear other than your home unless you invest in the $200 Playstation Portal streaming handheld.
Xbox Series X/S
While the Xbox Series S comes in at $150 cheaper than the Switch 2, it has also been notoriously hard for developers to get their games running in 4k on the device and is widely considered a non option for others, with Microsoft having to wave certification requirements for certain games such as Baldur's Gate 3 in order for Larion Studios to even consider porting it to the Xbox.
These are also not a portable system and are likely to be discontinued soon due to Microsoft shifting focus away from console exclusivity and on to their GamePass streaming service.
Laptops
The lowest price I could find on a laptop that features similar performance to Switch 2 will cost you around $650. And while laptop PCs can do much more overall due to the nature of the Windows desktop environment, I'm looking at this from a purely gaming performance focus. These lower end devices often suffer from performance dips due to lack of proper cooling and the overhead of the OS as well.
Handhelds/Steamdeck likes
The Steam Deck is a pretty incredible value starting $400 with access to a vast amount of the Steam Library. However it struggles with running complex games in 4k and its ray tracing support is quite lacking as well, but to be fair the device was not really designed to do that. It also only has a 720p 60hz display and is quite a bit bulkier than the Switch. Steam Deck competitors such as the ROG Ally and Legion Go are a bit more capable, but have notoriously poor battery life and are much more expensive in the $700-800 range.
Switch 1
The Switch 2 is also bound to compete with the Switch 1 for sales due to pricing and availability in the first couple of years of its lifespan. While the system is 8 years old, it still has quite a vast amount of support from developers and publishers due to it having a great lifetime sales figure. It has unfortunately been notoriously under-powered since its initial launch in 2018 with developers often having to greatly pare down their games in order to get them running on the system and often releasing 1-2 years after they have already launched on other platforms. The system also hasn't dropped its price from $300 outside of rare holiday sales.
The extra power of the Switch 2 should allow for more games to run on the system at a much less compromised experience compared to PS5/PC ports.
TLDR; Yes $450 is expensive, but the cost of the hardware is a fair market price.
$80 for the games is batshit insane tho.

Spoilers! (sort of)
You will very likely be able to piece together a portion of leaked chapter 268 by the contents of this story. You've been warned~
Content | f!reader x shiu, mention of death/loss, sex implied but not directly mentioned.
Word Count | ~450
Breath left your chest in a sharp exhale. You stared. Stunned.
They couldn't. They didn't.
Flipping through the pages over and over as you searched for the faintest sign of hope, tears pooled in your eyes as your heart shattered into a million pieces.
Your favorite character. Dead.
And not in a dignified, bittersweet, makes-sense-but-still -sucks kind of way.
Just dead.
A small sound catches in your throat. A strangled sob. And then...
"WAHHHHHHHH!"
"Woah, Woah! Honey! Are you alright, doll?" Shiu says as he comes skidding around the corner to the bedroom where you'd been reading, black socks sliding on the slick hardwood floor.
"He's....he's DEAD!" More anguished sobs as you throw yourself against the headboard.
"Who?? Who's dead??"
With the last of your energy you toss the small book you'd been reading toward the edge of the bed before throwing a pillow over your face, the soft case soaking up your bitter tears.
"This??" He asks half chuckling as relief pours over him. "Honey, I thought something terrible happened."
"Something terrible did happen you JERK!" You know the last part was uncalled for. "They killed him. They. Killed. HIM."
Shiu's mouth quirks into a sympathetic smile as he sits on the edge of the bed, a comforting hand on your knee. "Doll. You knew this might happen. He was the villain, afterall."
"He wasn't just a villain!" You cry. "He was the love of my life!!!"
"I thought I was the love of your life." Removing the pillow from your tear-stained face, he points to the band on his left hand, still smirking. "Remember?" He lifts yours to kiss the matching ring. "Or did you knock some screws loose when you hit that headboard?"
You have to bite your cheek to keep from smiling.
"I'm just sad. That's all." You sigh. "I miss him already."
"Well, I know I'm not as great as...tall, dark, and unquestionably evil over there," He gestures to the discarded book, "but I might know a way we can take your mind off of him for a bit." He finishes with a wink.
That gets you to giggle.
♡ ~ ♡ ~ ♡
Back against the headboard, chest glistening against the twilit room, Shiu lights a cigarette and flips casually through your book.
"How many chapters you got left?"
"I don't know...like three or four?" You say.
"Too late to pick yourself a new fictional husband?" He questions, half sincerely.
"I couldn't even if I wanted to! They're ALL dead!" You proclaim.
"No. All of them?"
"All of them!"
"What, is the author some kind of sociopath?"
You shrug.
"Well, you still got me." He says, pulling you into his chest, a consoling arm around your shoulders.
"Yeah." You hum, a soft smile returning to your face. "I still got you, Shiu."

Idk about you guys but I can't wait until the Nintendo Switch 2 loses all its shininess in like a year so I can buy a used one for like $100 prolly less, jailbreak it, and get rehashed $80 slop that was once like $30 on a 20 year old console for free without giving Nintendo a single cent of my fucking money
I can wait for Tomodachi Life 2, I'm not spending $80 on it and I don't think you should, either. NOT EVEN $80 if I have to spend $450 (And likely realistically $500 for the Mario Kart bundle) for a fucking console that hardly beats fucking last gen gaming console standards.
I have plenty of older Nintendo games I can play while waiting, that were made with fucking passion for once.
I REFUSE to buy this shit and I think you should too. If you REALLY REALLY JUST NEED to have the new Pokémon game (Even after the last ones were released buggy fucking messes and STILL broke every record in the fucking book somehow) then wait. Buy it USED. Jailbreak your Switch 2 the second it's safe if you're willing. Idek what the fuck they're doing with the cartridges but I doubt it'll be easy to buy used. Whatever just stop FUCKING supporting Nintendo, the company that treats you like a walking wallet that'll give you money even after you step on it. Have some self respect, PLEASE.
#crumb yaps#nintendo#nintendo switch 2#it hardly looks better than my old Mario Kart game for my Wii#and are you kidding? fuckign DIGITAL DOWNLOAD CARTRIDGES???#i might as well go suck the ceo off at his desk if you want me to pay that#i can wait for the new games id rather shoot myself than buy this#i wanna play mario kart now lowk#not the new one#“ohhh but its open world” wow. an open world racing game. i needed that soooo bad. /sar#and dont even fucking go saying “oh but inflation” yeah like charging $80 for a game for an overpriced console where the last-#one ran like ass will keep their billionare ceo off the street will it#i need to stop yapping vro

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers! Spread the self-love ❤
Thank you (and also to @cycas) for the ask! This is hard! Here are five that I love from among those of my fics that get the least attention:
Much Sorrow and Many Lives of Men (G: 600 words). The end of Arvedui, last King of Gondor (until Aragorn), in the ice of Forochel. Angst!!
Not By Wisdom But By Love (G: 500 words). Beleg and Túrin's first meeting in the woods of Doriath. Tenderness and looming doom.
The Fire of the World (T: 450 words, Russingon). Fingon and Maedhros, discovering each other. Romance.
Examined Lives (T: 700 words, Erestor/Pengolodh). Erestor and Pengolodh negotiate their respective truths, after sailing for Valinor. Romantic reflections on meaning and purpose.
Avant Garde (G: 500 words). Maglor is unhappy with the premiere of his latest work. Finrod attempts to console him. Silliness with gratitude and apologies to John Cage.
And because these are all short, I am not a rule-follower, and there must always be Legolas and Gimli for RLF, one more:
Op. 1: Serenade for Bow and Axe. (T: 700 words, Legolas/Gimli). In which they find each other in battle. And in songs.
@melestasflight @thelordofgifs @polutrope @welcomingdisaster @hhimring what's in your personal favorites boxes?

Switch 2 just like the PS5 fr. We are making an improved version of our previous console and our new games are enhaced editions of games on our previous console.
Get the fuck out of here. I’m not buying your glorified new switch for $450 when I can access all those games on a different console. Come back when you have an actual reason to buy your expensive ass console with games that are far too fucking expensive.
