I don‘t know what it is about the Blackthorns but Andrew falling in love with Nerissa, Mark pulling the king of Faerie, Dru falling for Ash and Ty being in love with the First Heir is just weirdly iconic

Andrew Blackthorn is a very... perplexing character to me because we know next to nothing about him but all his kids seemed to like him as a dad... and yet some of the only things we do know about him are that he a) gave Helen & Mark childhood trauma via Keats instead of having a normal conversation and b) he used to restrain Ty in order to "train him" to the point it made him throw up. like idk if there's a particular intention behind his character being good or bad (in general) but I definitely hate him lmao

Do you think Valentine ever tried to recruit the Blackthorn brothers? Before or after Faerie? And what would his opinions have been on Helen and Mark and their dad?

They have a big age difference, so it's unlikely that their paths could have crossed at the academy when Valentin was actively gaining a circle. It is logical that Valentine could invite the Blackthorn brothers to join the circle if information reached him about what happened to them in the fairy kingdom, assuming that they wanted revenge and justice, which the conclave could not give.

In fact, it would be funny if he had a negative attitude towards Helen and Mark when his son is closer to Lilith than to Raziel, and it's his fault. But Valentine is so paranoid, so most likely he would never trust half-bloods. Oh gods, now I remember about Ash-send Val a message to hell that his grandson is half fae and doesn't seem to appreciate the Shadowhunter tradition (unlike the Blackthorns)-I wish I could see his expression.

not much 😭 but thank you for the compliment I like to make sure I do my research!! I’ve had a few friends who’ve had it but we’ve never been close enough to really talk about what it’s like as it’s such a sensitive topic and there’s so much guilt around it and around being there as a parent. for an afab parent who has the pregnancy (and my language is clunky I hope you get what I mean) pregnancy hormones can fuck with your mental health but whether that’s you or not (and idk whether this is a genderbent fic or anything along those lines) the lack of sleep and big life change of having a child can also do that!! that’s all I know pretty much

but tbh for research (and if your all over this already don’t let me mansplain (gn) how to do research for you) I usually go on youtube and instagram (which are terrible platforms for a lot of things but are actually alright for people to share their personal experiences) and just hear a bunch of peoples stories. it’s gonna be different for everyone but it’ll build you a picture of specifically postpartum/postnatal depression vs every other kind of depression and its range of experiences it encompasses I guess? also keep in mind it’ll relate to other mental health experiences happening for the individual and things like abuse and trauma will factor in!! then you can pick what you think andrew or alt-andrew or nerissa or alt-nerissa or whoever you’re writing is gonna experience in terms of what seems realistic!! hope this helps!
