It’s become as tiring as a horror game where you find random objects in a small map while trying not to trigger a jump scare, or anything based around survival and crafting mechanics. To stand out from the crowd, you need to do something special, and that’s what the anonymous developer “Localthunk” has done. This was managed simply by removing the usual dressings and focusing on as simplistic a core idea as you possibly can – building poker hands. It gets absolutely absurd from there.

Star Trek Insurrection premiered on December 11, 1998. Insurrection was penultimate Star Trek film of the first Star Trek film franchise. It is the only film in the original franchise to not speak or show a Stardate. The events in the film took place in 2375. It was one of the few in either the original or the rebooted film franchise to not have any scenes filmed on or near Earth. It was the last Star Trek film to be rated PG. There was talk of killing Data (Brent Spiner), but the idea was ultimately rejected. This was the second Star Trek film directed by Jonathan Frakes. The Zachtronics Solitaire Collection

If you’ve been plugged into the indie scene, you have probably heard of Zachtronics before. A small studio created by one Zach Barth, Zachtronics has been responsible for a lot of unique games, usually puzzle focused, with Zach also having some infamy for making a game some believe lead to the inspiration for Minecraft with Infiniminer. Some of the studios’ most notable releases included SHENZHEN I/O, EXAPUNKS, and Eliza, the latter a bit of a formula breaker as a visual novel about mental health and technology based therapy. The studio seems to be closed as of the release of Last Call BBS, Zach Barth interested in escaping a niche his studio grew into, though he did give us one last gift under the studio banner with The Zachtronics Solitaire Collection. This is as the title suggests, a collection of solitaire games Zach developed for seven of his previous games, along with one new unique and punishing game exclusive to this collection. Considering how fleshed out these games have been just by themselves, having them in a single place instead of an extra in a unrelated game is very welcome.

After 3 seasons, the last episode of Star Trek: Picard aired on April 20, 2023. Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his friends took a final stand to save Earth from a Borg Invasion. Picard travelled to Jupitor to face off with the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) and a Borg assimilated Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) aboard a giant Borg Cube. Walter Koening, who played Chekov in Star Trek the original series, returned to play Anton Chekov who was the President of Earth and an ancestor of his former role. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) was promoted to Admiral and made head of Starfleet Medical. Seven (Jeri Ryan) was promoted to Captain. Tim Russ also reprised his role of Tuvok. John de Lancie also made a surprise appearance as Q. ("The Last Generation", Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek TV Event)
