if a bird did this to me and i survived (by the way this woman survived and still has both eyes), i would go on a bird genocide. i would kill them all whenever and wherever i saw them. i would become their king leopold, their hitler.
While traveling one day, a group of feral donkeys approached our car. In particular, there was one mother who seemingly brought her baby directly to me.
I think they must have been occasionally fed by people passing through, because they were unusually trusting and expectant, but it was still a very lovely and special experience.
At Easter there were toads in the window well at my grandmother's house:
My aunt's hand for scale. The toads are not mating; they are sitting like that because my aunt just took them out of the window well, and I suppose that is scary when you are a small toad. (We were not sure if they were trapped in there, but if they wanted to be in there, they can get back in.)

A red fox visited us last night.
My dog was losing her damn mind around 3AM and there was a certain pitch about her bark that made me think I should pay attention. Took out my ear plugs and clear as day I heard a fox crying basically just outside.
I live kinda smack in the middle of a suburb so it was unusual to see one just hanging out in my driveway screaming his silly little head off. Sat with doggo and watched it through the window for a while. It looked straight as us more than once, called for its friends some more, then eventually wandered off elsewhere in the neighborhood.
