I’m gonna try to censor this cause I’m about to be rude.
S!dL!nk shippers are perfect examples of why shipping has become so annoying to my aroace ass in fandom as a whole. People see these INCREDIBLY minor things and insist it’s a sign of a deep profound love, and CANNOT let it go if canon doesn’t bend over backwards to validate them. They attack other characters (very often using sexist logic cause the “threat” is almost always a woman), they try to do everything they can to deny the canon/semi canon ships (the debate about how Link CANNOT be living in his house, as if Zelda just kicked him out lol?) and it’s so annoying to deal with because of how they act.
It’s not canon. It was never canon. It was never going to be canon. Not every interaction is about romance and sex. Sidon is friendly, that’s how he is, he’s sweet and friendly to Link because that’s his personality!! His DEAD SISTER was in love with Link, she was going to give him engagement armor! Sidon wasn’t going to jump on his dick five seconds after meeting him! (I don’t think the ship is “amoral” or whatever. I’m just saying since we’re so hung up on canon, canonically it’d be weird for that to happen like that or quickly. But I’ve noticed shippers also try to undermine Mipha’s feelings, as if their ship only works if Link has never felt anything romantic or had anyone feel anything romantic for him.)
Stop going on other peoples ship posts and making it about Sidon! Stop complaining about his fiancé! Stop trying to deny canon evidence and push on happy Z3link shippers that it’s not what it clearly is! I’m sorry you’re not happy but your ship is just as valid! Your fics are still good! Why has fandom become so obsessive about canon backing y’all up? I was here for early day slash shipping and none of it was explicitly canon and we had a great time!
Fucking hell let people enjoy things and enjoy things without getting so pressed a ship you made up in your head didn’t happen! You will be so much happier!
(Also consider that bi people exist. Sidon can be MLM whether Yona exists or not. Fandom is constantly chomping at the bit to exclude and deny bi people so I’m not surprised. But still.)

translation question, Ive heard people say on twt that in the japanese version, Sidon and Yona do not say "my love" at all. Just wondering if that's true? sorry if this starts anything lol
Ok so I'm guessing this refers to these lines?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here they are in Japanese:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, there's no uh affectionate language towards Yona specifically that I can detect, here?? Sidon seems like he's just being his cheerful, pumped up self. the lines are like "at the same time let us welcome/I am welcoming/have accpeted Yona as the new queen!" and "That's right!" more or less (those are not good translations, once again just so you get the gist of what's being said) You could make an argument for adding that "my love!" in, like you know how he's just a generally demonstrative guy so it's not too much of a stretch to think that he would blurt out "my love" like that. That is, if your stance is that Sidon really does love Yona (which, I don't know if he does, I'm guessing the game wants you to think that but?????) Also, this is just me looking at these two lines in a vaccum. It is possible that maybe Sidon does use affectionate language towards Yona elsewhere, which would further justify the use of "my love" here, but I must admit I have no real interest in finding out because the Yona discourse is not what ignites my heart. But, it is possible that maybe the issue of Sidon's feelings or lack thereof for Yona allows more room for debate in Japanese than it does in English. Maybe. (Keep in mind im just looking at these two lines in isolation so my take is inherently lacunary) I do hope a hero willing to get into the nitty gritty of every single one of Sidon's lines rises up and brings some extra clarity on whether there is a difference of intent regarding Sidon's treatment of Yona in the two versions. I'm sure someone will, in time. If it hasn't happened yet. With all that being said, allow me to extend my most sincere condolences to the sidlink crowd, these are trying times indeed.

The zelda fandom and homophobia and sexism to shippers
Before you read I'm not trying to say ALL yona defenders, zelink shippers or people who dislike sidlink are homophobic/sexist. This is a 'if the shoe fits' type post but I encourage everyone to read.
A type of homophobia I've seen in the fandom which isn't new to fandom spaces is the idea of wlw vs mlm. Presenting wlw as pure, more genuine and sexless well mlm is just sex and can't be deeper than that. No mlm ships are inherently unpure or immoral, even if they do have a lot of sexual content. spending so much time calling mlm shippers freaks does nothing to support wlw ships. you don't have the right to go on and on about how zelink and sidyona are 'really lesbian relationships' or 'straight ships for gay people' or just gay in general and actively try to push out actual gay ships and gay fans.
Whenever an anti sidlink post or tweet gets popular we see in the comments and likes, hard line conservatives and homophobes agreeing with y'all. I know this is unintentional but with the constant focus of proving why ships between two men are disgusting, you invite those type of people into fandom spaces and making them more unsafe for queer people as a whole.
Me and many others don't like sidlink just for sex. We like them because we like them. The idea that someone has to have a dark alterier motive for liking something is also deeply flawed.
if you can't defend yona from misogyny without resorting to misogyny yourself and demeaning others than your not getting rid of sexism in fandom spaces but adding to it. You don't get points for demanding woman for their personal interests. You're not helping the character by calling people who dislike her or ship sidlink bitches, slut, fujos, coomers, fetishist, groomers, cum-for-brains,cumdumpsters, dickriders or literal slurs(all things that I've seen). inorder to be a good feminist you have to care about the feelings of real life people more than a cartoon stingray and realize misogyny affects every one in fandom, including people who ship things that you dislike.

Been seeing it a few times in different posts around Tumblr and decided to drop a potential TOTK hot take regarding any anti-Yona people:
I feel that “Sidon x Yona doesn’t work/is weird/Sidon x Link is better because Sidon said that he used to view Yona in a sisterly manner in that one stone monument”, or “Nintendo specifically added Yona in to spite the Sidlink shippers”, or anything along those lines, are flawed viewpoints
1. It’s kinda hypocritical. Link was literally going to be Sidon’s brother in law, which something he brings up in BOTW and reminisces on. Don’t use that excuse when Sidlink suffers the same “issue”. Also Sidon himself said that his feelings were complicated and that they changed over time.
(Plus Dorephan clearly cares for Sidon, wouldn’t push him into something he didn’t want, and understands his son’s feelings so one could even say he arranged the marriage on purpose knowing that Sidon himself would be too bashful to initiate it)
2. Are you kidding? Nintendo is in no way paying enough attention to the fanbase to specifically spite people. This is a massive company, not some salty Twitter user. If they had an issue with it or even paid any mind to it in the first place, every single Sidlink fanfic or fanart would have been scrubbed from the internet already. Nintendo as a company is absolutely flawed and even scummy at times, but don’t judge the individual developer teams on the actions of the whole company and don’t expect them to be completely aware of the ins and outs of a fanbase.
3. Link, Sidon and Yona all have two hands each

Idk where the whole "Yona hate" is even coming from. Like we must have different social circles because every sidlink fan I've talked to (myself included) is either A. Disappointed or B. Poly shipping them all because why not which honestly? Both are valid. I've yet to see any hate. Critcism I've seen on her character, but not hate.
And definitely not shipping wars. Holy balls, guys, I was part of the Hetalia fandom in 2011/2012. THOSE were shipping wars. I started shippinng in like 2006 or so and man the fanfiction was absolutely bananas. Inuyasha fans literally feral then over Kagome vs Kikyo.
Like holy shit. This stuff is tame compared to what I've witnessed. Stop making mountains of molehills. Bring 'er down to like a four, antis, because you're at an eleven when you got no need to be.

"SidLink is beastiality" To be fair to the antis, Link is more beast than man for the entirety of BOTW. Him being with Sidon would definitely be like Sidon dating his favourite hunting dog who incidentally also knows how to burn down entire forests while naked.
...
Damn. I can't even be mad at this.

Look I’m no expert, but I just don’t buy that Nintendo cared enough about people shipping S!dlink to “retcon in” Yona for “the sake of no homo.” They do not care that much. They are a massive company. There is a HUGE fanbase outside of the fandom sphere, and Nintendo HAS been rabidly protective of their IPs (look what has happened with leakers), if they had an issue with S!dlink guess what? They’d be trying to take down fics and art. Yona wasn’t created to personally attack or “kill” your ship. It was simply never going to be canon. There isn’t a conspiracy.
(Isn’t Paya paired up with someone too? Are they sinking Payalink??? Or maybe it simply isn’t about shippers at all.)

(This isn't hate towards the people who enjoy this game and character as a whole! This is just me being a hater about borderline antis and assholes <3)
Ok I'm gonna be a hater
FUCK Yona from TOTK.
No, seriously.
She was literally only added so Nintendo could beat the "Sidon is gay" allegations and they did it in the most pretentious, stuck up way possible.
I also hate the fact there are these smug, asshole fans who purposely shove it in your face and act like YOU'RE the one in the wrong and that you're actually sexist if you don't like her.
(We don't hate her because she's female, if she was just a random character I, and many others would ADORE her. But she was specifically made as homophobic backlash towards fans. I don't even particularly like SidLink, but Yona fans are so gross towards them and are just as bad as antishippers imo with their threats and harassment.)
This entire thing has made the game unbearable for me and I only completed it just so I could get the good ending, the toxic fans and what Nintendo purposely did made the game unenjoyable for me and a lot of fans.
There was no reason for her to be added like she was, and there's no reason some of her fans should be as toxic as they are.
I hope they realize they're just supporting a fan-hating character that was added just to piss people off.
(The only good part about TOTK was Tulin and hot Ganondorf 💜)

Slash Ships Get to Know Me
Thank you for tagging me @animeangelriku
Rules: Name at least five (but no upper limit) slash (M/M) ships you love. Each from a different fandom.
1. Puzzleshipping (YuGiOh!)- To anyone outside the fandom, it may not make sense, and when I was originally in the Yugioh fandom circa 2006 it didn't make sense to me either. It confused the hell out of me because I was a baby ace ignorant of anything other than what media spoonfed me. But I did value their relationship deeply and knew they did love each other to come capacity. It wasn't until I finally got to watch the subtitled version as an adult that it clicked. It's so very special to me because even though I had preferred the platonic version of it as a kid, it's still incredibly nostalgic for me and it came back into my life at a time when I needed it
1. Ozbert (Pandora Hearts) - Controversial, I know, (It used to be the most popular ship in the fandom) and I have not engaged with this ship in some years since it got in the line of sight for a lot of antis. I actually left a Pandora Hearts discord server over the harassment I saw. But again, I am asexual and aromatic, and this relationship was the first slash ship I got heavily into when I was a teenager. It's got tons of nuance and angst, and as someone who has read a lot of period fiction and is very aware of what was socially acceptable at the time, I view this completely differently from a modern-day setting. My enjoyment of this ship has morphed and is actually not romantic now, but it's on this list for leaving an impact on me. For those who balk at the idea that Oz is 15 and Gilbert is 24 for the main story arc, keep in mind that due to plot reasons, this is a very specific scenario, with supernatural elements and actual time travel involved. In the beginning, Gil is 14 and Oz is 15. So this is someone who had a childhood crush, clung to that love for ten years, but now his crush is back and hasn't aged a day. For me, it's exploring the complexity of that, and it's tragic. Gilbert is such a wonderful character, and any way you look at his feelings, you just know that even if it's not romantic, he and Oz are family.
3. VaNoe (The Case Study of Vanitas) - Same author as Pandora Hearts, and I just know she is going to hurt me again. And I will thank her. We have a reversal of the usual dynamic seen with vampire series. This time, it's the sweet naiive cinnamon roll Vampire, and edgy dark Human with a mysterious past and a broken moral compass. They are foils for each other and have so much chemistry it just works so well! At first, Noe does not like Vanitas at all and wants nothing to do with him, this draws Vanitas to him because he enjoys bothering people who catch his fancy and hate him. Then while his affections are on another, Noe learns more about him and he becomes very attached to Vanitas. Realizing now he has actually made emotional connections, it's clear that Vanitas is now afraid and is pushing them away. There's a push and pull here, and I'm both apprehensive and excited to see where their journey takes them. Even though we know it's going to end badly, based on the first chapter. I'm here for how much Noe has learned about his strange partner, to the point of figuring out a way to speak Vanitas' love language. Also, they both have no flipping clue what Love is, and the entire scene that unfolds during is gold. Vanitas is the kind of character who has never been treated gently by anyone, so I enjoy seeing depictions of him getting that from Noe, because it catches him completely off guard.
4. SidLink (Legend of Zelda) - This one is casual, because I actually have not played Breath of the Wild (I fully intend to though!!) but fandom content of this ship sucked me in. I found one fanfiction that was so incredibly sweet, and fell down a rabbit hole with that writer’s works and have fond memories of reading it. I will definitely have the ship goggles on once I play, I adore Sidon as a character, and I don’t know, giant peppy shark man and tiny human...what is there not to love?
5. SoRiku (Kingdom Hearts) - Another more recent ship, as I was not in the Kingdom Hearts fandom in its heyday. I did not have access to the games, but saw plenty of fandom content of it and honestly, it was always a place of nostalgia even before I watched the Let’s Plays that were online. I’m so glad I did, and many others who adore this ship have laid out all the reasons why better than I could. I just haven’t explored it for myself outside of canon as much as I would like to, but I love it for the same reasons I love the other ships on this list. I guess that says a lot about me because all of these ships but ONE are riddled with Angst. What can I say...I like my Hurt/Comfort fics. I also enjoy seeing them in AUs where they get to live in better timelines. It’s a sort of Catharsis. Now, since the games are still going, where their relationship ends up in canon remains to be seen. I hope it ends well!
And because I like to go ne step further:
6. Natsume x Tanuma (Natsume Yuujin Chou) - It’s so stinking sweet and I’m so soft for it! This series is actually my favorite, and I have revisited so many times for the atmosphere and combination of supernatural horror and slice of life. Natsume lives between worlds, he did not make connections with people because he faced ridicule and was unwanted (he scared people) and he hated Yokai because they interfered with his daily life to the point he did not fit in with humans. He could not share what he saw and suffered. As the series goes on he is able to make connections with both human and Yokai and one of the first people he opened up to about seeing them was Tanuma. Tanuma has some level of spiritual power that allows him to see phantom shadows, so his awareness of Yokai is such that he immediately accepts Natsume and wants to help him. He’s pushing through that wall Natsume has spent most of his life building. Even though he can’t see them and may put himself in danger, he wants to be there for his friend. They share secret knowing glances and smiles, and gradually Natsume is more and more accepting of his help, and opening up to him. Such as being able to admit he can’t see the fireworks at the festival because a giant yokai is in the way, and Tanuma smiles and offers to find a new viewing spot. This series is in a Shojo magazine and the manga-ka chose to make her protagonist male so that she wouldn’t be forced to write a romance. As a result, the girls he interacts with are friendly, but definitely don’t have a lot of romantic potential. Natsume is still way closer to Tanuma than anyone else, even with Taki hanging around. I feel like he and Taki have a friendship, but it ends there as she had never suffered the hardship the boys have. She’s just more likely to team up with Tanuma as a Protection Squad to intervene in the dangers Natsume faces.

Unpopular botw opinion! I really don’t like sidlink and I think Sidon is super overrated. He’s not bad at all, he’s just not that special and he has zero chemistry with Link. Also I’ll never forget that some of you were attracted to a fish.

Misogyny in the Zelda Fandom
Disclaimer: I enjoy Revalink content. I am not anti-Revalink.
I’m shocked this isn’t talked about more considering that this is a glaring problem in our community.
In Breath of the Wild, Princess Zelda is a rounded, complex character. She struggles with insecurity and feelings of inferiority all while bearing the weight of the world on her shoulder and, quite literally, it’s fate. She happens to take this anger out on Link, yelling at him, being mean. Even so, we see her develop through the memories—slowly, to Link, she opens up. She tells him how she feels about their predicament, how she feels about studying ancient technology, she even tries to make him eat a frog (in a research effort or an attempt to be friendly in her own way, not sure). Zelda has a very clear, very obvious character arc.
And yet she STILL gets hate for being “mean” to Link. Why? Why would she get hate even after the game makes it obvious that she is insecure, struggling to cope, and under pressure? (Did we even play the same game?)
Because she’s a woman.
She get’s written off as a b*tch purely because she is a woman that showed an emotion other than content, happiness, etc. She is villainized because she is a strong female character with desires and complexity.
Some of you use this to justify your distaste for Zelda in support of another character like Mipha, because she would never ever be so mean to Link my little Mipha bean uwu /s
I think, in this case, Revali and Zelda are comparable in their treatment of Link: at some point, they dislike him and are rude to him in their own way. However, why does Revali get a pass? His behavior is constantly written off because he’s insecure. Well, Zelda’s also insecure. So why is it only Zelda that gets the heat? Because Revali is a man. Despite his character arc being far less dramatic than Zelda’s and he’s still an ass to Link in the end, he gets excused.
Because he’s a man.
You cannot ship Revalink and, at the same time, hate on Zelda for her treatment of Link because it’s the exact same thing. I’m going to say it plainly: Revalink in canon is toxic. If you are going to ship Revalink outside of the context of an AU, there needs to be some sort of arc where Revali stops reaches an understanding of Link or stops being a total dickwad.
But again, you cannot excuse Revali’s actions because he’s just a little insecure bean uwu /s when Zelda has almost the EXACT same problem but with different motives and you hate her for it.
Another problem in this fandom is that some of you seem to love pitting women against each other. “But Miphlink gets in the way of Zelink!” “But Zelink is canon!” “Ilia gets in the way!” Shut up. I have never once encountered this as a problem with the popular mlm ships like Revalink or Sidlink. Why? BECAUSE THEYRE MEN.
Some of you just feel threatened by strong female characters with desires and complexity so you choose to hate on them while male characters with essentially the same idea behind them get loved and excused.
In conclusion, some of you have misogynistic double standards and you don’t even realize it.

A lot of people wont like this opinion but seriously SidLink pairing is way better in my opinion than GhiraLink or Dark Link x Link because Sidon actually likes Link and doesn’t want to harm/kill him.

AO3 Tag Game Tagged by @etherealbutterflie
I’ve never done one of these kinds of things I don’t think, thanks for the tag it could be fun!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
At present I have 11 total works (with 8 of them still in progress that I swear are not abandoned even though some haven’t been update in a solid year or so 😭)
2. What is your total AO3 word count?
My total word count for stuff published on AO3 is currently a whopping 258,265! It saddens me to say that like, 1 year ago it was closer to 50,000 at most 😂 what am I doing with my life lmfao
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
I’ve written for 7 fandoms so far! We’ve got the Percy Jackson series, Luca, Skyrim, Invader Zim, Kingdom Hearts, Stardew Valley and Homestuck!
4.What are your top 5 fics by Kudos?
My top 5 fics are:
Letters To Luca with 654 kudos: Luca fandom (Luca/Alberto)
Please Stay with 319 kudos: Percy Jackson fandom (Nico/Will)
Bruno is Orange with 134 kudos: Percy Jackson fandom (Nico/Will)
The Anti-Sugar Project with 81 kudos: Invader Zim fandom (Zim/Dib)
Distant Shore with 74 kudos: Stardew Valley fandom (Sebastian/male farmer)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try and respond to every comment I get on my stories! I love interacting with people and hearing their thoughts and stuff on what I write, and the fact they they took the time to write out a comment for it deserves a little thank you at the very least! I’m eternally grateful to everyone who’s taken the time to do so because it really does keep me motivated and going (but also I’ve made so many new friends along the way)!
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiext ending?
I wouldn’t say I ever ended a fic on an angsty note(?) but as far as bittersweet, I’d go with Please Stay. It was the very first long range fic I’ve written and completed, and it’s the first in a series, and even the “angsty” ending in it would be for OCs I’ve made, not even the main ship (RIP Pietro and Emilio) lmfao.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Yes and no? Like, I write au’s so does that really count as crossover if characters from the other universe aren’t really present? Like for Homestuck, I’ve got a Skyrim au going (and another different au in the works currently which I’m stupid excited about).
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not that I can really remember? I mean I probably haven’t received hate per-say, but I’ve gotten snarky comments and stuff on one of my later works that I was like “Bro fuckin why tho?” But not specifically hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Gosh this is actually embarrassing, but I have plans in the future for a few stories to have stuff like that (I will say now it does not pertain to any of my Luca fics and Percy Jackson fics). And a good few of them probably won’t even have it because I’m sorry but it’s just embarrassing for me posting stuff like that 😂 but for sure my Stardew Valley one will eventually get there. Nothing hardcore or anything, just like, yah know, smut? Excuse me while I crawl under a rock and die now lmfao
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of, no.
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet, but it’s always been something I’ve wanted to do? It seems like fun!
12. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Holy hell if that ain’t a difficult question? God there’s so many fandoms I’m a part of and so many ships I’ve obsessed over it’s hard to pick 1? And they all depend on how I’m feeling? Like right now I love luberto, they’re adorable and It’s just a fun ship? But Homestuck is pulling me back down another hole so right now there’s also johnkat and davesol? But then there’s more obscure fandoms like No.6 with Shion and Nezumi? Or gaming ones like soriku and sidlink? Too many to choose from.
13. What’s the first fandom you wrote for?
Kingdom Hearts (that was way back in the fanfiction.net era of writing though) on archive it would be Homestuck.
14. What’s you’re favorite fic you’ve written?
Another very loaded question lmfao let’s do a top 3 which are: Letters to Luca, Please Stay, and Distant Shore.
Now for the tags! @coffeelich and anyone else who would like to try this out! It was super fun!

Legend of Zelda series for the send me a fandom? Not LU, Zelda games
Late on this one 😳
The first character I first fell in love with:
Toon Link my beloved.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Gosh I have soooo many. But uh. In terms of chars I knew from very early on, I’d have to say BOTW Zelda. She got on my nerves at first but she really grew on me thanks to the fandom.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
I know he’s a very “you love him or you hate him” character but...Revali. I usually do like the asshole character but I just don’t think he’s done well.
The character I love that everyone else hates:
I don’t think there’s many widely hated LoZ characters?? But I really like Yunobo and he’s a char I think a lot of people forget/gloss over.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer:
For the life of me I can’t think of a single LoZ character who I have grown to love less rather than more :’ )
The character I would totally smooch:
Botw Link. No question.
The character I’d want to be like:
Hmmm. Hmmm. I think I’d have to go with Toony here as well. Lil bundle of joy who cares so much about his family. I love him sm 😭.
The character I’d slap:
King Rhoam. Don’t care if he’s dead. This blog is an anti Rhoam zone 😤
A pairing that I love:
God. Too many. Way too many. I guess Botw Zelink was my OG fav along with Sidlink. But since then Ravioli and Vidow have joined my favorites rank hehe.
A pairing that I despise:
Briefly touched upon in my LU one, but Ghir//alink gives me the Bad Vibes™️. Ga//nlink as well depending on how it’s portrayed.

it's so funny, watching antis in the zelda fandom fall in love with the botw/totk ships.
Link is canonically 100 years older than Sidon is. Link knew Sidon when he was a CHILD. Antis will jump on SidLink like it's nobodies business.
In fact, Link is canonically 100 years older than nearly everybody in botw; except for perhaps Impa/Robbie/Purah/Zelda, who were, y'know, alive and young in his time.
And that's not even mentioning Purah, who is at least 100+ and literally chemically transfigured herself into the body of a child in botw; and now has a matured body in totk.
It's just.
guys y'all realize shipping botw/totk Link with anybody is problematique, right????
apparently they don't! Oh well.
every damn time
