Forgetful - Blitzo
Pairing - Blitzo x gn!reader
Warnings - Blitzo being the pervy lil guy he is :)
Word Count - 1,135
Notes - okay, i know i haven't posted my writing in a while with it not being a request and tbh this is kinda awesome, it makes me feel kinda refreshed ngl. i am getting to my requests, but i have been busy as hecc. anyway, love you all! hope you have a great day/night and stay hydrated my loves!!! <333 (omg this fella is so cute)
Tumblr media
“Good morning Loona! Good morning Moxxie and Millie! Good morning… sir.” You walked in and handed everyone their lunch, giving Blitzo a cold side eye as you handed him his lunch.
“Good morning! Good to see you too, sugar!”
“Mmm…. hm…” You kept looking at him with a sideways glance as you left the room, closing the door slowly.
“Wonder what their problem is.” Blitzo’s words were muffled from the sandwich stuffed in his mouth and everyone turned to stare at him at once.
“Your… joking… right?” Moxxie’s eye twitched looking at his boss.
“Oh, Jesus Christ, what are you going on about, Moxxie?”
“No disrespect, but is your memory that bad, sir?”
Blitzo turned to Moxxie, completely offended. “What?!”
Moxxie pinched the bridge of his nose while Millie rubbed his back, whispering sweet nothings in his ear. “Sir… yesterday you-”
“Is this about me pinching their butt when they went to leave?!” Blitzo stood up, slamming his hands on the table. “Because that’s bull! They were the one who walked in here with their cute little booty out!”
“Sir! That doesn't mean you have the right to pinch their… uh… YOU KNOW!”
“God, you’re all so sensitive,” Blitzo pinched the bridge of his nose and turned towards the white board, which had nothing of importance on it. “Can we get back to work now? I have a business to run.”
“Blitzo,” you stuck your head in the room, holding a phone away from your ear. “There’s a phone call for you.”
“Who is it? We’re a little busy right now.” He put the finishing touches on a pony he began drawing on the whiteboard.
“It’s Stolas.”
Blitzo nearly choked on a piece of his sandwich and turned to you. “Tell him I'm busy. Like super busy. What does he want?”
“It's about the book.”
“Just… tell him I'll call him back, okay? I… don't want to talk to him right now.” Blitzo’s face turned bright red and he set down the marker, turning to everyone else for at least some support.
“I'll just tell him that you’re in an important meeting that will last all day.” You turned away, closing the door behind you. “Sorry Stolas, Blitzo’s super busy right now. Expect a phone call either after hours or tomorrow morning, alright? Okay. Have a great day. Yeah, you too. Buh-bye.”
Blitzo knew he was blushing, but of course he wouldn't admit that. He had that intern to thank for everything.
“Hey.” Blitzo stuck his head out of the door and threw a chocolate bar straight at you.
You caught the candy and looked down at your hands, tilting your head. “What’s this for?”
“Helping me. And let me treat you to lunch, okay?”
“Uh… okay?”
“Oh, don't sound all skeptical. I'm serious. You’re the best!” He slammed the door behind him, not caring about his blushing face.
You stood there in shock with the candy bar still in your hand. Maybe that stupid boss did have some etiquette.
---
“So, are we gonna forget about yesterday?” You slid your hand into Blitzo’s as you walked to go get some lunch.
“What, about me pinching your ass?”
“What? No. You do that all the time.”
“Then… uh… what?” You squeezed his hand and he couldn't help but feel his face go warm.
“It’s really nothing. I'm not that pissed about it or anything… it uh… it was our one year… yesterday. AGAIN, NOT A BIG DEAL… I just… got a little butthurt. But nothing too insane. I'm not mad and I don't want to seem like that type of-”
“Shit! Are you serious?!”
“Y-Yes.”
“Dammit! I thought our one year was today! That’s why I'm taking you out to get some nice lunch. Dammit!”
You giggled and cupped his face. “You don't have to play around, Blitzo. I don't care that you forgot about it. Again, it's not a big de-”
Blitzo pulled out his pocket calendar, shoving it in your face. You saw today’s date with a heart around it saying, ‘one year anniversary with my love <3’. You giggled and pulled out your own pocket calendar and Blitzo found the day before’s date with a big heart around it saying, ‘one year with my Blitzy-poo <3’.
“Well,” Blitzo grabbed your hand and continued walking. “It's either one of us fucked up or we’re both way off.”
You giggled and held him close, giving him little kisses on his cheeks and his neck. “Let’s just have a two day anniversary. I think it would be way more fun than just one boring day.”
Blitzo giggled, melting to your touch. “Y-Yeah. We should.” He couldn't help his heart shaped eyes around you.
“Well, since today’s technically our anniversary now, Blitzo, I got you something.”
“You got me something? Y-You didn't have to get me anyth-”
You pulled a small present out of your bag and handed it to him, his shiny eyes getting dilated.
“You got me wrapping paper?” He sounded like an excited child.
“No dummy,” you giggled. “Open the wrapping paper.”
“I'm not that dumb! I'm just excited that I get to rip open some wrapping paper. I haven't done this in ages.” Blitzo quickly ripped open his present and pulled out a little business card and a photo of a billboard.
“Uh… what’s this?”
You smiled a stupid giddy smile and bobbed on your heels. “What do you think it is?”
Blitzo shrugged and grabbed you by the shoulders, shaking you back and forth. “No secrets! Tell me! I wanna know!”
“Okay, okay! Stop shaking me, bub!” Blitzo stopped shaking you and looked you dead in the eyes.
“Tell me.”
“I got us business cards, that’s what that is… and uh… I got us a billboard downtown… so more people can see it. You wanted more ads for our company, so I worked really hard these past couple of months and mmf-”
Blitzo quickly pulled you forward, slamming his lips against yours. He ran his fingers over your hips and dipped you down, pressing harder against you. You sighed into the kiss, getting more comfortable and he pulled away with a bright smile. “I can't believe you.”
“You can't believe me?”
“Nope.”
“Do you like it?”
Blitzo teared up, even though he told himself he wouldn't. “I… I love it.” He pressed his forehead to yours and placed a little kiss on your lips. “You’re the best, you know that?”
“Yeah.”
He giggled and pulled you up, grabbing your hand. “I knew you were gonna say that.”
You threw your arms around the back of his neck and played with the collar of his shirt. “I love you Blitzo.”
“Oh, god, why did you have to say it with the o.”
You chuckled and pulled him down the street to go grab some lunch.

haikyuu boys with a professional volleyball player! s/o 🏆
characters: kuroo, bokuto, kita, oikawa & sakusa
tw// swearing
Tumblr media
thank you anon for this awesome request!
Tumblr media
Tetsurō Kuroo
he’d tell all his teammates about you and none of them would care
well, lev would care - he’d be so excited and asking for kuroo to get him your autograph but yaku would just be like ‘you don’t actually believe him, do you? 🙄’
so yeah, yaku would convince lev and yamamoto that you were just a figment of kuroo’s imagination
even thoUGH YAKU KNEW YOU WERE A REAL PERSON BC HE HAD MET YOU BEFORE AND  HE KNEW THAT YOU WERE DATING KUROO AIREBVKZGA he just loved annoying kuroo <3
and he did the job well bc kuroo was definitely annoyed
he’d be waving his phone around, desperately trying to show lev and yamamoto the selfies he took with you but they’d just be like 😑
then he finally convinced you to come visit him at practise to put an end to his humiliation
so you appeared one day and kuroo was so hyped
but not as hyped as yamamoto
he has hot-ppl senses which tingled when you entered the room so he was the first to greet you while kuroo was sitting setting up the nets
he was literally all over you
‘woah 😍 your thigh are so toned’
‘uh thank you ???’
and kuroo was not here for it
‘AYE GET YOUR DIRTY PAWS AWAY FROM THEM!!’
yamamoto fkn shits himself and runs ✌🏃‍♂️💨
then kuroo picks you up bridal style and parades you around the gym, rubbing it in everyone’s face - especially yaku and lev
‘guys, do you see this? my totally REAL s/o! who’s been to NATIONALS!! uhuh. all mine, y’all.’
yaku is so ticked off and definitely goes to snitch him out to Nekomata
and lev is just so awed, ‘(y/n) is real???’
for a moment he thought he was dreaming too until kenma purposefully hit him with a ball
‘put me down, tetsurō.’ you groaned, folding your arms over your chest
he obeyed, gently setting you down on your feet before pecking your lips, ‘ok, well, i should probably get back to practise now - train hard so hopefully one day i can be as good as you.’ he joked, teasingly emphasising the ‘you’.
you playfully punched his arm before turning on your heels to head out, ‘you wish!’
although he’ll always joke about how amazing you are in comparison to him but he genuinely admires you 🤩
Tumblr media
Kōtarō Bokuto
he hypes you up to his team constantly
they’ve literally never even met you and they are being asked all these questions from bokuto lol
‘hey onaga, did you see (y/n) at their nationals game the other day?’
onage flinched upon being jump-scared by his captain, then choked out a little white lie, ‘uh yeahhh.’
bokuto’s face lit up, ‘great! they were so amazing during the third set, weren’t they? what was your favourite part?’
onaga froze, ‘uhh- oh, i think i hear anahori calling me to help him practise his sets! gotta go.’ then he proceeded to bolt off
bokuto shrugged it  off at first as he shouldn’t complain bc a teammate dropped a conversation to continue training with anahori - i mean, onaga came to volleyball club to practise so he wasn’t obligated to make conversation with bokuto
but while he was saying his goodbyes to everyone as they left the gym to go home, it hit him-
‘bye, komi! buh-bye, washio! and goooodbyeeee, konoha.’ bokuto let out a relived sigh as he had now finished saying his partings which meant he could lock the gym then go home, ‘wait-- ANAHORI DIDN’T EVEN COME TO PRACTISE TODAY! ONAGA!’
bokuto was deeply disheartened that his own teammate would lie to him - to get out of a conversation about you, no less
he just wanted them all to love you as much as he does
like..he’s your biggest fan!!!
~ even post-timeskip ~
he’d show up to all of your games wearing your jersey and some of the eagle-eyed press would try talk to him
they’d interview him about his own affair or about the MSBY Black Jackals but he genuinely has no interest in talking about that bc today is your day and he is here to support you
‘are you and your team hopeful to attend Olympics despite player Miya’s rumoured injury? and disclose whether these rumours are factual?’
sakusa decked atsumu after he joked about having covid-
the interview shoved and waved a microphone in bokuto’s face while he just stared at them blankly like ◉_◉
after a while bokuto stuffed a handful of popcorn in his mouth and chuckled, ‘don’t know! but the game is about to begin, shhh!-’ he hushed the interviewer, instinctively swatting the microphone away as he stood up in the stands to cheer for you, ‘WOOOO! GO, (Y/N)!’
then he turned to the interviewer who stood frozen with a dumbfounded look on his face, ‘THAT’S MY LOVERRRR!’ he screamed into the microphone so loudly that all the press naturally backed off
and please do the same for him when the press approach you at his games 🙏
Tumblr media
Shinsuke Kita
ofc he dates a volleyball player player-
he is such an ushijima
he is ushijima if he wasn’t left-handed
he doesn’t really brag about you too often at practise but he feels so proud when you win a game then he comes to practise the next day and his teammates tell him to pass on a congratulations
also he always comes to your games
no matter how minor or how large
you’d think you could both bond a lot over volleyball and you did that in the beginning
but over time - especially when you started playing volleyball professionally - you found other things to bond over and saved volleyball for work
he probably runs a (y/n) stan page AEIVBARTBV
AND YOU’D NEVER GUESS
like he is literally a rice farmer- you are under the impression that he doesn’t even know what facebook is
and he’s good at selling the act too
‘did you see the picture of us i posted on my instagram?--’ you asked, taking another spoonful of your cereal
‘insta what?’ kita inquired without hesitation
then as soon as you exit the room, he’ll log onto his (y/n) twitter stan account
ok ok sorry i’ll stop now
anyway he ALWAYS tries to ensure that the first thing you eat after a big game is something that he cooks
and if you go out with your team to eat after a game to celebrate a victory, he’ll try at act sweet but he’s lowkey shady tbh
‘congratulations on your victory, (y/n). and to many more’ he lifted his glass and so did you
but just as you were about to take a sip, kita interjected, ‘but that is going to be difficult if you keep filling your body with junk rather than healthy, organi--’
‘kita-’
‘ok.’ he took a sip of his drink in your honour
HE JUST CARES ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AND WELLBEING HE’S NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE 😭
Tumblr media
Tōru Oikawa
again, when you and oikawa first started dating, volleyball was one of the only things y’all talked about
but now that you were both doing it professionally, it was basically banned in your home
well, the the game itself wasn’t banned but i mean, why would you do something all day then come back to talk about it more?
you both might adore volleyball but everything has it’s limits lol
anyway, oikawa is another one that is extra af when they come to your games
he probably makes a sign and paints his face in your team colours
and when you come out onto the court, he’ll blow you a kiss and if you don’t blow one back he’ll be so offended lmao
bc he always makes a big deal out blowing you a kiss or winking at you as soon as he steps out onto the court
it’s basically a thing he does for good luck at this point
also, if there are ever ppl trying to take pictures of y’all in public- oikawa is the first to make a big show for them
like he’s all up on you
he’ll dip you then push his lips against you for a passionate kiss, in front of the ppl and they always go fkn crazy
he thinks he is like..Beyoncé famous...which he is not
please humble him
but nicely
but y’all only get attention around summertime when you are frequently playing big games
like if oikawa leaves the house a week you competed in a big game- he’ll literally get swamped with ppl asking about you
but contrarily, if you both leave the house in winter literally no one would even spare you a glance
on a RARE occasion, someone might sneakily snap a photo but that’s it
so you get the best of both worlds :))
also, if you’re an ace and he’s ever feeling down, if you ask him to set for you for a bit and you compliment one/all of his sets, he’ll literally feel so much better
Tumblr media
Kiyoomi Sakusa
sometimes you both come back from a rough day at work, slump on the couch and watch TV together
after showering, changing, dinner etc
he’s not nna come anywhere near you if he thinks there is a chance he might be stinky from practise
he turned on the TV and it just so happened to be on an Live volleyball game in some language that neither of you understood
he’d snake his arms around your shoulders and pull you close to his chest, satisfied by your synced breathing
he’d press a single kiss against your jaw before shifting his attention onto the channel
you’d lay there in his arms, both of you seeming content in each other’s presence while watching the game
in reality though, neither of you were actually absorbing anything that was happening on the court - you were just staring blankly at the TV
the TV simply served as background noise to your cuddling
tbh he was way more interested in hearing the sound of your heart beat peacefully against his chest
after a while, if he gets bored, he might finally break the silence by inquiring about your day
but if he doesn’t, you’d probably end up falling asleep in his arms, forcing him to sleep on the couch bc he’s doesn’t want to risk moving and waking you up 🥺
anyway, he’s another one that likes to save volleyball for work then leave it by the door as soon as you step inside the house
but he’s not as uptight about it as oikawa or kita
like he’ll happily put on a volleyball match for you guys to watch if he thinks the player’s techniques are impressive
also, if the weather is nice, if you ask him to come out and practise with you for a bit and he’ll say yes 🤠
but actually 🤔 now that is think about it, if you guys had a pool in your back garden sakusa would definitely make the most of it
you’ll humbly ask him spike for you on a nice sunny day and he’ll be like
‘volleyball? really? we bought this expensive ass house with a pool which we can only use 4 out the 365.25 days of the year and you want to play volleyball? don’t you do that like..every work day.’
what can i say? man likes getting his moneys worth 🤷‍♂️
‘so is that a no to volleyball?’ you’d ask
*cue sakusa picking you up bridal style and dropping you into the pool*
then you play pool volleyball 👍
as for your games, he turns up in casual wear 😔
disappointed but not surprised
you’ll jokingly be like ‘hey! why aren’t you wearing my team colours? how are people gonna know who you’re cheering for?’ which is fair bc you turn up to all his games with his MSBY black jackals jersey with one of those foam pointy fingers with his number on it
MANS WOULD POINT TO HIS FKN WEDDING RING LIKE ‘our team colours right here.’

You Already Mean the World to Me
Marcus Pike x Reader
Word Count: just under 8500
Tags: childhood best friends, pining idiots, King Arthur/Monty Python references, some cursing, roughly unedited terrible writing
A/N: It’s finally here! Again, absolutely would not have been finished without the constant support of my dearest @thedaysarenotfull. @hdlynn helped me talk through my roadblock. Let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
You had been friends with Marcus Pike for as long as you could remember. You grew up together. You were toddlers together. You went to the same schools together. You fell in love with art together. You went to every gig his band had. He went to every art show of yours. You stood up as his “best man” in the wedding to his college sweetheart, and sat with him while he cried after she’d handed him the divorce paperwork.
You weren’t sure which broke your heart more.
You were certain that Marcus was the love of your life. He had just… never felt the same. And that was okay! You were perfectly fine loving him as much as you could. When he left a quiet but excited voicemail at three in the morning telling you that he met someone, you let all the love you held for him mold into the cracks in your heart.
Three months and many conversations about Teresa later, you got a call from him.
“Hey, Lance, I have news. Guess what.”
“Oh, it’s good you called, I’ve got news, too. Yours, though? I don’t know, Art. You’re finally moving to DC to come be with your best friend?” you asked sarcastically. The line was quiet for long enough that you took the phone off your ear to look and see if the call had dropped. “Marcus?”
“How did you know?” You could practically hear his furrowed brows.
“Wait, what?”
“How’d you know I’m moving to DC?”
“I was being facetious, you asshole. Are you serious? Are you really moving here? You’re not going to be halfway across the country anymore?”
“Nope. I got a promotion. I’ve got about a month left here in Dallas, and then I’m headed your way. I’m invincible!”
“You’re a loony,” you laughed, continuing the phrase you’ve said to each other since you were kids. “Oh my god, Marcus! That’s so incredible! I can’t wait to show you some of my favorite places. I mean, you haven’t even visited me here, Marcus, and I’ve been here for three years.”
“Yeah, I’m excited. It’ll be nice to be in the same city again, huh? Tell me your news, though.”
You laughed. “Forget city, just the prospect of even being in the same time zone is getting me excited. My news doesn’t really feel all that important, now. My show kind of took off and I had to get an agent. Now I’ve got three galleries wanting my paintings.” You knew Marcus couldn’t see you, but you shrugged anyway. “I’m not as excited by that anymore. Not when I’ll get to see you very soon. I can’t wait to have you here, oh my god. I’ve missed you so much, Art.”
“Hold the hell up, you mean to tell me that the first art show you’ve had your work in got so much traction that you needed to hire an agent? So you’re actually painting full time, now?”
“I guess when you put it that way, it does sound kind of important.”
Marcus let out a sarcastic laugh. “You freakin’ think? Man, I’m so proud of you, Lance!”
That brought a smile and heat to your face. “Thank you, Marcus,” you said quietly. “But yeah, painting full time. That triptych I did of the valley back home, remember that one?” Marcus hummed in affirmation. “That one sold for nine k. Three grand a panel, Marcus. I about crapped myself when Jenny told me how much the guy was offering.”
“That’s awesome. Did you ever meet the buyer so you could thank him in person?”
“Nah, he was some anonymous guy out of Texas somewhere. Apparently he grew up in the same general area we did. He told Jenny it reminded him of home. Enough about me, though! When will you be here officially? I’ll help you move in.”
“Three weeks. I don’t know the actual date, yet.” Marcus was quiet for a moment. “I, uh, I asked Teresa to come with me.”
In the euphoria of the galleries and having your best friend back, you’d forgotten about his potential plus one. “Oh! Oh, that’s… quick.”
He immediately jumped on the defensive. “It’s not like I demanded she go with me. She has a month to think about it. I’m going to talk to the director there and see if a place could be made for her, so she’d have a job to go to if she wants it.”
You tried to backpedal. “No, I know, Marcus. I know. It’s just,” you tried to find the words. “I don’t know, Art, you’ve been dating for three months. And I know you don’t want to hear it, bud, but I just… I just don’t think she’s all the way in like you are.”
“What?” he spat.
“From what you’ve told me I just-”
Marcus interrupted you. “Oh, that was rhetorical. You really don’t have to say it again.”
“Art, I’m sorry I just don’t think-”
The way Marcus said your first name stopped you in your tracks.
“If you can’t support me in this, then maybe I need to take a step back from our friendship.”
“Wait, Marcus, don’t you think that’s a little dramatic? I mean, I just don’t want to see you get hurt again. Art, you’ve gotta-”
“That’s enough. I’ll talk to you later.”
The line was quiet again, but you knew the line was dead this time.
“Bye, Art.” You sucked in a heavy breath and could feel your lower lip starting to quiver. “I love you.”
DC didn’t feel right. Marcus had moved with mostly excitement. He put a down payment on a house not far from headquarters. Teresa would be joining him today- he needed to leave to pick her up from the airport in about an hour, and then they’d start life as an engaged couple.
But Lance was missing.
It’d been almost five weeks since he’d spoken to her. He knew he’d been hasty and rude the last time they’d talked. He also knew she was just trying to help him protect his heart. But he didn’t need his heart protected. Lance didn’t know Teresa like he did. She’d see that when Teresa was finally here and they could meet. Everything was going to work out.
Marcus picked up his phone to call her for the hundredth time since moving to the same city she lived in. He missed her, and he knew it was his place to pick up the phone and apologize, but he just couldn’t.
A call from Teresa lit up his screen.
That’s odd, he thought. She should be on a plane right now.
The next five weeks passed slowly. The longest you’d ever gone without talking to Marcus was that one weekend when you were in high school and he went on a camping trip and didn’t have service.
This was slow torture, and you knew it was your fault. If you’d just kept your mouth shut and supported him like you had with Ashley, this wouldn’t have happened. It would have hurt you, but at least he’d still be around.
You knew he was in DC by now. Because of the way things were left, you didn’t even know if Teresa had decided to come with him, though you figured she’d be stupid not to. You had considered going to the fbi headquarters and asking for him, but then you thought better of it. The fbi probably wouldn’t appreciate some random person coming in and asking for an agent, and you didn’t really want to be detained. That probably wouldn’t win any points back in Marcus’ book.
Going to your studio was just depressing. Everything you painted was spoiled by your sadness. Your agent had laughed and called this your blue period. You just threw a pained smile her way with a nod and a shrug.
It was nearing the end of the sixth week without any contact from him, and you felt the Marcus sized hole in your heart. The other day, you ordered Indian takeout, and only when you were sitting on the couch with it on your lap did you realize that it was the malai kofta that he would usually get. That realization just served to make you cry and lose your appetite.
You were getting ready for bed when you heard a knock on your door. Thinking it was the sweet old woman from next door in need of some honey for her nightly tea again, you shrugged on your robe and swung the front door open with a smile.
But it wasn’t Miss Agnes.
Marcus’ eyes were rimmed red. He just stood there in your doorway looking at you. The sight of him brought you tears of both relief and concern. His chin wobbled and more tears sprung up in his eyes.
“Marcus, I’m so sorry. I never should have-”
He cut you off with a shake of his head. “No, I’m the one who’s sorry. I’m so sorry, Lance. I just didn’t want to hear it. I’ve missed you so much.”
You let go of the door to open your arms to him. He fell into your hug with a heavy sigh. You closed the door behind him and then just held him. You both had silent tears rolling down your faces.
Marcus mumbled something into your shoulder.
“What, sweetheart?” you whispered.
You could feel the wobble of his chin when he moved his face to answer. “You were right.”
“Oh, Marcus. I’m so sorry. That’s the last thing I wanted to be right about, hon. I’m so sorry.”
You didn’t want to be the first to let go, so you just stood in your front hall holding him. After a few more minutes of tired silence, you moved your face from the crook of his neck so he would be able to hear you.
“Marcus, honey, why don’t we move to the living room? It’ll be more comfortable. And then maybe you can tell me about it? If you’re up for that. We’ve missed a lot the last month and a half.”
He stayed quiet and glued to you for just a bit longer, before mumbling a ‘yeah’ and letting go. You grabbed his hand and led him to the couch.
“Tea?”
Marcus grabbed one of the fluffy throw blankets you had folded in the basket by the couch. “Yeah. Please.”
Walking into the kitchen, you grabbed a chamomile mint blend from the shelf and spooned some of the loose leaf into a steeper. You squeezed a honey stick into each mug  and waited for your electric kettle to come to a boil. When you got back to the living room, Marcus was sitting cross-legged on the couch with the blanket pulled over his head.
“You look kind of like a sad nun, Art.”
The corners of his mouth twitched up as he took a mug from you. You sat facing him on the other end of the couch and just waited. He’d tell you when he was ready.
“I had, uh,” Marcus cleared his throat. “I had asked her to marry me.”
Your eyebrows shot up, but you didn’t say anything. You just waited for him to continue.
“She had said yes. She said she’d move here with me and had agreed to marry me. I put a down payment on a house. I was so happy.”
“Did she change her mind?”
Marcus scoffed. “She didn’t just change her mind. She left me for Patrick Jane.”
“Wait, the asshole clairvoyant?”
Marcus rolled his eyes, but the ghost of a smile lit up his face. “Yes, the asshole clairvoyant. I guess she’s been in love with him for years and it just took the prospect of her being taken away for him to finally realize he wanted her.”
You put your hand on his blanket covered knee. “If that’s the kind of man she wants, then you’re better off, Marcus. She made it clear that she only wanted him to see what he’d lose without any regard for who she hurt in the process. I know it won’t fix anything, but I’m so sorry, Marcus. You didn’t deserve that.”
He looked over at you with more tears in his eyes. “What’s wrong with me, Lance? Why am I not wanted? What am I doing wrong?”
“Marcus Alexander Pike.” You reached out to your coffee table to set your mug down. When you looked back at him, his eyes were wide. “My best friend in the entire world. Sunshine of my life. My literal favorite person. There is nothing wrong with you, okay? Let’s pick this apart, shall we? Starting with Ashley. I can guarantee you’re not going to like this part of the conversation because I’m going to be blunt and say not nice things about people you’re too kind to stop caring about, but it needs to be said, okay?”
He nodded slowly and looked down at the mug still in his hands. You put your hand on his knee and nudged so he would know to turn and face you. When he got the memo, you nodded and continued.
“Marcus, what is your degree in?”
“Art history with a specialization in art conservation. But you know that.”
“I do. Did Ashley?”
“Well, I mean, I assume so, yes. We met in art history in undergrad.”
You blinked at him. “Marcus, why did you join the fbi?”
“Well, the job I had with the museum didn’t exactly pay a whole lot, and Ashley knew someone in the art recovery department that got me an appointment. And it pays a lot better, so…” he trailed off.
“So you gave up your dream job and safety for the sake of a higher paycheck?”
He scoffed. “Well, of course. There are just some things that you have to compromise on in a marriage. You’d know that if you ever let anyone close enough to try.”
You shot him a glare. “First off, we’re not talking about me, asshole. Uncalled for. Second, compromise, I get. But what did she compromise? Marcus, you gave up your dream job, friends, a town you loved all for a dangerous job because your wife said she wanted more disposable income to spend at Nordstrom?”
“I was happy to do all of that because we loved each other and she-”
“Marcus, Ashley cheated on you,” you interrupted.
“No she didn’t, Lance. And even if she did, I was just too overbearing. I pushed her away.”
You heaved out a sigh. “Okay, let’s look at the facts. I know you’ve kept tabs on her. How long after your divorce was final was she engaged to that Todd guy?”
“Tedd, actually, but three-ish months.”
“You cannot tell me that she wasn’t with that guy while y’all were still married. She was never someone to rush into things. I mean, you asked the girl three times to marry you, and she said ‘not yet’ the first two. So three months after she wasn’t Mrs. Pike anymore, she rushes into another marriage? You’re a smart man, Marcus. Use that big fbi brain to look at the facts.”
“Okay, sure. She cheated on me. But like I said, I’m the one who pushed her to that in the first place. I was too much. Overbearing, or whatever.”
“Don’t make me bring out your middle name again, sir. I’ll do it.”
Marcus just rolled his eyes.
“Roll reversal, Marcus. Let’s say you were married to a wonderful woman who gave you her all.”
He scoffed. You shushed him.
“No interruptions. Quiet. Let’s say this wife gets a new job because you didn’t think the one she loved paid enough to support you.” You held your hand up to silence the start of his protest. “Ah, ah. Theoretical, Art. Roll reversal, remember?”
His eyes rolled, but nodded for you to continue.
“So she gets a new job that puts her in danger on the daily. Still passion-adjacent, so she figures ‘at least she’s got that’. And then you meet some other woman at some country club you insist on having a membership to and you refuse to work like this is the freaking fifties because she’s the breadwinner and you’re the absolute worst.”
Marcus’ eyebrows had shot up. “Wow. You really didn’t like Ashley.”
“No, I didn’t. She was a shitty person and a worse wife. Stop interrupting.”
He shook his head. “You’ve made your point, Lance. She wasn’t right for me. I didn’t pick well there, either.”
You placed your hand on his knee again and gave a soft squeeze. “The point I’m trying to make, Marcus, is that you’re  already worthy of love exactly as you are. You deserve someone who’s going to support you in everything, just like you’d do for them. You’re also allowed to feel used, Marcus. Ashley used you to get herself into a specific station so that she could live a charmed life. Teresa used you to show the man she actually wanted what he’d be missing. Neither of those relationship failures are your fault. You are the kindest man I know. You deserve to have your love returned tenfold. You more than anyone I know. It breaks my heart that you’ve had to deal with these horrible women.”
He gave you a sad smile. “Come on, Lance. They aren’t horrible.”
“Just because you choose to see the good in people, doesn’t mean I have to. And to be quite frank about it, if I ever see either of them, I will be throwing the first punch, I don’t give a damn. I’ll go to jail. I don’t care. They broke your heart, they can go through me.” You crossed your arms over your chest and mumbled, “Bitches.”
Marcus barked out a laugh and you smiled.
“And that’s why you’ll always be my Lancelot. I know you’ve got my back.”
Your smile dropped for a moment, but you plastered another on and placed your right fist over your heart. “Always, my king.” You dropped your hand and just sat smiling at each other, and for a moment, it felt like you were kids again, just playing a silly game.
“Alright, Art. I’ve got a hankering for pancakes, so I’m going to call Bob & Edith’s and order some. I swear, they’re the best here. I’ll go pick them up and then we can chow down, yeah?”
“Sounds like a plan to me, Lance,” he said with a yawn.
You knew he wouldn’t be awake for much longer, so you decided to just hold off on the pancakes, but walked into the kitchen anyways. You busied yourself by cleaning out the tea steepers and dumping the water left over in the kettle.
“On second thought,” you called, “I know I’m tired. I’m sure you’re exhausted. So I think I’ll just hold off until we can go sit in together.”
When there wasn’t a response, you turned the sink off. “Marcus?”
You walked down the short hallway and came back into the living room to find that Marcus had fallen asleep on the sofa. His long legs were stretched out taking up all of the space, and he still had the blanket wrapped loosely around his head and shoulders. You grabbed another to drape over his body.
Standing above him, you gently ran your fingers through his hair. He let out a satisfied hum, but didn’t stir.
“There’s another thing that I didn’t say, Art,” you whispered. You didn’t have the courage to say it to him while he was awake, but you needed it said out loud. “Watching you pick these women who only want to break your heart is torture for me. I have loved you for so long, and they have just hurt you. I wish they could have seen you like I see you. You’re such an incredible man, Marcus. You’re so kind and selfless, and so, so handsome. You make me laugh. You indulge me in late night pancake runs. I just wish I would get the chance to show you the love that you deserve.”
Marcus shifted a bit, and you paused your hand working through the curls on his forehead. When he didn’t wake up, you continued. “I know I’m not who you want, though. It’s not ever going to be me. I’m okay with that, I promise. I will just keep quietly loving you because you’re the best man I know and you deserve it. Sweetheart, you are worth so much. I hope one day you can find someone who appreciates and loves you like I do. I really, truly hope so. You really are the sunshine of my life. You already mean the world to me. I love you, Marcus.”
You leaned down to place a soft kiss on his forehead and then turned to head back to your room.
When you woke up the next morning, Marcus had left, but he had written a note and put it on top of the folded blankets he had used.
Your neighbor came over to see if you could help move her new couch in. If you need me, I’m over at Agnes’.
Making your way over with a Tupperware of scones you had made, you heard Miss Agnes chatting Marcus’ ear off.
“It’s been so nice having that sweet girl next door. She always indulges my whimsy.”
Marcus laughed. “Mine, too, Agnes. For entirely too long. I’ve known her since we were two, ma’am. She’s had to put up with me for years.”
You knew if you walked in, you’d see her hand on his shoulder. “That’s certainly not the way she puts it, my dear boy. That girl is enamored with you. I’m glad to see you’ve finally come to your senses.”
There was a deep sigh. “I was wrong for not talking to her for so long. I was mad, but she’s my best friend, so that’s not an excuse.”
Miss Agnes’ chuckle was breathy and her chair creaked as she sat down in it. “It was like her heart had been ripped out for weeks. You can’t leave the love of your life stranded like that, young man.
“Love of- no, Agnes, I think you’ve got it wrong. Lance and I are- we’re just friends. We’ve been friends since we were kids. Friends. She’s not the l- we’re just friends.”
Rather than let Marcus flounder and also have him casually break your heart without knowing it again, you walked into the room. Marcus was sitting on the flowery print couch and Miss Agnes was sitting in her usual reclining chair across from him.
“Are you done with your interrogation, Miss Agnes? Can I have my friend back?”
“Oh, fine, sweet girl, but you need to promise me that you’ll be straight with this one.”
“I always am, Miss Agnes. I brought you some scones for your tea. I’ll leave them on the kitchen counter, okay?”
She gave you a pointed look. “Well I think he needs to know that-”
“Miss Agnes,” you gave her a small shake of your head. “Please.”
Her sharp eyes stayed on you and she raised her eyebrow, but didn’t say more.
Marcus looked between the two of you with furrowed brows. “Okay, well, it was good to meet you Agnes. I’ll probably see more of you, now that I listened to reason.”
“Not all reason, boy, but enough. Keep thinking about what I said. The both of you.”
With both of you back in your home, you turned back to him with a smirk. “So what had she talked to you about that she wanted you to think about?” you asked, as if you hadn’t had your heart stepped on by his response.
“Oh, uh. She was just under the impression that we were more than just friends. Or maybe that we should be. I don’t know what she was saying, for the most part. What was that look you two shared at the end there?”
You brushed it off with a shrug. “Oh, Miss Agnes just likes to tease me, that’s all.”
Marcus hummed like he didn’t fully believe you, but he didn’t push it.
“Well, I’ve got to go to the office today, so I’ll see you later?”
You smiled. “Of course, Art. Text me your address. I’ll bring you some dinner?”
Marcus reached over and pulled you into a hug. “That would be great. Thank you, Lance. For everything.”
“Of course, bud. Any time, you know that.”
With a wave, he was out the door.
The decision to take the undercover case in Dallas was not an easy one.
He knew it would be a relatively easy case, but the prospect of seeing both Teresa and Jane was… daunting, to say the least. Marcus was over his anger at Teresa. He still had the lingering sadness of the ‘what if’, but Lance had helped him see that she wasn’t right for him in the first place.
He’d been off since the night he’d apologized to her. He could tell that she knew something was up, but he also knew she wouldn’t say anything about it until he did.
The truth was, he’d been awake when she came back out to her living room that night. He hadn’t meant to deceive her like that, but he knew from experience that she would have been embarrassed if he’d given away that he was actually hearing what she was saying. And he couldn’t believe it. Lance? In love with him? It didn’t add up.
And that’s why he’d been off. He didn’t know where his head was at. He’d had a crush on her his freshman year of high school, but that was it. He’d never actually considered her as a romantic partner, and it was throwing him for a loop. How the hell was he supposed to say that he wasn’t interested in her. Did he even need to say anything at all? They’d gone this long as just friends, they’d be fine, right?
But more importantly, what if he was wrong, and she was exactly who he actually needed? What if the butterflies he felt every time he looked at her were real? Lance helped him slow down, helped him breathe. She was the eye of his storm, whenever he was out of control. She knew when to apply pressure and when to leave him alone. She’d been the person he turned to when he was at his most broken.
What if Agnes was right, and she was the love of his life?
All of that was running through his head as he bent over Teresa’s desk to leave her a note saying he was happy for her.
“Uh, excuse me, can I help you?”
Marcus stood with a sigh. “Jane.”
“Pike, hello.”
He turned toward Patrick and then shifted back again. “I was, uh, looking for Teresa.”
Jane came closer. “Yeah, I’m sure she’s uh,” he looked around the glass-walled office. “I’m sure she’s around here someplace.”
This is weird, Marcus thought. “Yeah, she probably is.”
“Beard looks good.”
“It’s for an undercover thing.” It felt like they were at the start of some measuring contest and all Marcus could think of was Lance’s voice saying ‘that asshole clairvoyant guy?’  He shifted his weight to the other leg and decided to hell with it. He wanted to know. “So it’s, uh,” he smiled at Patrick, trying to show he wasn’t angry. “You and her.”
Jane walked closer still. “Yeah,” he looked down and at least had the decency to look guilty. “I’m sorry, we didn’t intend for it to happen like this.” Jane took a breath and Marcus had to look away from him. “I know it was the last thing on her mind, the idea of hurting you.”
Marcus wanted to laugh, because he knew that wasn’t the case. Asshole clairvoyant rang in his head again. Jane couldn’t have given a care less, and Teresa’s goal was to show Jane what he’d miss.
“I know,” was his response instead. “I know that.”
Asshole clairvoyant. “So do you have a plan?” He crossed his arms and stepped away from Teresa’s desk.
Jane rolled his eyes and looked away. “I don’t really understand.”
Asshole clairvoyant. “Well, I was offering her a life, a home, a family if she wanted it. A future. Have you thought about any of that?” Marcus knew the answer was no, but he wanted to hear Jane say it.
“I haven’t thought that far ahead, yet.”
Marcus hummed and furrowed his brows in mock thought. “Well, what are you offering her? I mean, other than,” he gave Jane a once-over. “Patrick Jane?”
Marcus turned at the sound of footsteps approaching.
“Hey.” Teresa looked spooked, like this was the last place she wanted to be.
Jane looked up at him with a smug twist of his lips. “Excuse me.” He walked over into the hallway, far enough away that he wasn’t in the conversation, but close enough that he’d be able to hear it.
Asshole clairvoyant.
Marcus looked down at Teresa and sighed.
“What’re you doing here?”
“I was upstairs giving a deposition, and uh, thought I’d say hi,” Marcus looked away. “Stupid idea,” he said with a sad chuckle.
Teresa responded with a nervous chuckle of her own. “No, it’s fine.”
She still hadn’t actually looked him in the eye. He looked over at Jane and watched him angle his face away like he wasn’t listening in. “Anyway, it’s good to see you, Teresa.”
“You too, Marcus.”
“Jane.” Patrick nodded back at him.
That one tense conversation was all the closure he needed. Teresa was never his, Lance had been right about that. She had been right about a lot of things. The ‘what if’ brought the storm of butterflies back to his stomach. He walked out of the office with a smile. For maybe the first time in his life, he knew the next time he gave his heart away, it would be safe. He needed to have a conversation with his best friend.
Two months after ‘the absurdity’, as you and Marcus had taken to calling it, he had to go back to Dallas for some work thing. He had grown out his hair and beard, said it was some undercover job. You were a little worried for him, knowing he’d have to be back in the Dallas office with Teresa and that clairvoyant guy. He told you he’d be fine, and you hoped that was true.
You hadn’t left your studio in almost seventy-two hours, but the wall sized landscape you were working on was almost finished. Marcus still hadn’t been to your studio, and that was fine by you. You’d started a portrait of Marcus because Jenny had asked you to paint something personal to get back to “your emotional roots”. Whatever that meant. Marcus being out of town and not coming to your studio meant that the portrait could sit out undisturbed while you made slight changes to the oil paints.
Jenny knocked and let herself in. “Okay, love, how’re we doing?”
You stepped back from the landscape. “Done with this one. I’ll let it sit for a week or so, see if anything needs to be layered over after it’s dried, and then it can head to the gallery. What do you think?”
Jenny hummed as she looked up at it. “It's difficult to enter into this work because of how the disjunctive perturbation of the purity of line endangers the devious simplicity of the essentially transitional quality. With regard to the issue of content, the disjunctive perturbation of the spatial relationships brings within the realm of discourse the distinctive formal juxtapositions. I'm troubled by how the mechanical mark-making of the emotional signifier visually and conceptually activate the remarkable handling of light.”
You paused and took a steadying breath. “Jenny, what in the blue blazes are you talking about? You sound like you’re talking out of your ass. Would you have said all that bullshit to Bob Ross? It’s just some happy little trees and a majestic mountain.”
“As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t have. But I’m not Bob Ross’ agent. I’m yours.”
You scoffed. “That doesn’t mean you can make up critique-y phrases. If it’s bad, just say it’s bad.”
“Oh, whatever.” She turned to the smaller piece to her left. “Is that portrait the one I asked you to do? The personal project?”
You tried to school your features so they wouldn’t soften too much at the sight of Marcus’ profile. “Indeed it is.”
Jenny looked at you with wide eyes. “Whoa, do you have a boyfriend I don’t know about?”
Your eyes snapped back to her. “No. Why would you think that?”
Jenny chuckled. “Well, if that reaction wasn’t enough, this is a pretty… striking portrait, babe.”
“I’ve just known him my whole life. That’s all that is, Jenny,” you said, still trying to deflect.
She hummed. “Then I may ask him out when I see him. He’s quite handsome.”
You swallowed and tried to collect yourself. “Uh, yeah. Yeah, I guess he is. I could, uh,” the lump forming in your throat was making it difficult to speak. “I could introduce you, or whatever.”
Jenny’s eyes narrowed and she crossed her arms. “Girl. Just tell me the goddamn truth.”
You threw your arms up. “What do you want me to say, Jen?! That I’m in love with my best friend and have been since the second grade when he climbed a tree to get my teddy that a big kid had stuffed up there? That no man will ever measure up to him because he’s everything I’ve ever wanted? That it kills me to think of him with someone who isn’t me, but also kills me to know that it’s my reality? That Marcus will never love me the way I love him because all I’ll ever be to him is his fucking Lancelot?!”
Your chest was heaving after yelling most of that at Jenny. A dry sob clawed its way out from your chest.
She uncrossed her arms and engulfed you in a hug. “Oh, sweetie. I’m sorry. I was teasing, I didn’t think. I’m so sorry honey.”
Jenny patted your back and pulled away. “Why don’t you go home, hon? You haven’t showered. Have you even eaten anything?”
You looked away from her disapproving face. “Dry granola,” you said sheepishly.
“Girl. Go home. I’ll clean up here. Go get yourself cleaned up. Make yourself something to eat. I’ll be by in a couple hours to make sure you’ve actually taken care of yourself, okay?”
“Okay, Jenny. Thank you.”
“No worries, babe. Can’t have my star’s light dim, can I?”
Marcus pulled up to Lance’s studio with a stupid smile on his face. He wasn’t sure how this was going to go down, but he knew he needed to tell her he was in love with her. He’s not even sure when it started, only that hearing what she said and listening to Agnes made him realize what was in his own heart.
He pulled the door open to a quiet, well-lit room. The windows were large, so it lit everything in the most wonderful natural light. There was a massive landscape painting directly in front of him that was stunning. The mountain was towering over him like the real thing would, and the oranges of the autumn leaves were a beautiful contrast.
He heard footsteps behind him, but didn’t turn to face them. “You’re so talented, Lance.”
He looked around the studio, and his eyes landed on a portrait of himself. He couldn’t remember this ever being a picture that was taken. It was his profile, and he looked a little sad. He’d never cared for his nose, always thought it was too prominent and made him look like a bad guy, but she’d taken so much care in painting it. He could see the emotion in his painted eyes.
“When did you know you loved me?” he asked quietly.
“I can’t say that I’ve ever known, because I don’t actually know who you are.”
Marcus startled at the voice that was definitely not his best friend. He turned quickly to find a small Asian woman looking at him with bright amusement.
“Sorry, I, uh. Who are you?”
The woman laughed. “I’m her agent, Jenny. I sent your Lancelot home about an hour ago. She’d been here for three days straight with only dry granola in her system.”
“That sounds like her,” he sighed. He held his hand out. “Marcus, by the way.”
Jenny shook his hand and smiled. “Oh, I’m well aware.” She gestured to the portrait. “I wanted her to paint something personal. She’s been in her own head a lot recently, hasn’t tapped into the emotion she usually uses to paint. It’s in that one, though, don’t you think?”
Marcus looked over at it again. He’d never really considered himself a very handsome man, but he certainly felt it right now. The way she had captured his likeness… “For sure. She’s a brilliant artist.”
“And she loves you a great deal.”
Butterflies erupted in his stomach again. “It was nice to meet you, Jenny, but I have to go.”
She just smiled and waved him out the door. “Make sure she actually eats something.”
After you’d gotten home, you decided self care was actually in order. You washed your face and put one of those weird face masks on. You poured a glass of sweet red wine and sank down into a hot bath filled with a de-stress bath bomb Jenny had given you. You turned on your audiobook of Pride and Prejudice and settled in.
About an hour and a half later, the Bennets were talking to Mr. Collins about Rosings Park when you heard a noise in your kitchen. Assuming it was Jenny coming to check on you, you unplugged the bath and toweled off.
With your hair stuffed in a cotton t-shirt and your robe secured around your middle, you stepped out into the hall.
“Sorry for my meltdown over Marcus earlier, Jen. It’s been a particularly rough season in our friendship. And I think he knows, now, that I’m in love with him, because-”
You rounded the corner and stopped short.
“Well, if he didn’t, he does now,” Marcus joked.
You felt the dread settle on your lungs like smoke you’d inhaled. Your eyes closed. “Oh, god,” you whispered. “What’re you,” you swallowed hard and fought the bile rising in your chest from the amount of dread you felt. “What’re you doing here? I thought you were going to be in Dallas for another three days.”
You couldn’t see it, but you could hear the smile in Marcus’ voice. “They didn’t need me anymore. Got done early. I stopped to see your studio. Met Jenny. She said you hadn’t eaten anything, so I let myself in to make you dinner.”
You rubbed a hand over your face, and still hadn’t opened your eyes to look at him. “That’s nice of you, Marcus. Unnecessary, but nice, thank you.”
“When did you know?” he asked quietly.
“Know what?”
You could hear the smile in his voice again. “That you were in love with me?”
Your eyes snapped open and fell on a shit-eating grin. “There’s no need to be cruel. I will smack you across the face, Marcus, I’m not even kidding.”
He said your name and reached up, but you took a step back so he couldn’t touch you. His brows furrowed and his hand dropped. “It’s a serious question. Please indulge me?”
You shook your head and turned away, feeling the beginning of tears fill your eyes.
Marcus cleared his throat. You could hear the scraping of a wooden spoon in a pan. “The first time I realized that I am fully, truly and completely in love with you, I was standing in the office of the fbi’s special crimes unit in Dallas having a conversation with the man who took a woman I now know never actually loved me away.”
Your breath caught in your throat.
“But I think what really got me thinking about it was knowing that my best friend has harbored feelings for me for, seemingly, a long time, and even though it must’ve broken her heart, she was always there when I needed her.”
You turned to face him again. He looked into your eyes and gave a small smile. “The truth is, I think I’ve been in love with you for a lot longer than I have even realized. You’re everyone’s comparison. Even Ashley, thinking back on it. You’ve always been it, Lance. It just took me a while to see it. I’m sorry.”
You let out the breath you’d been holding and brought the heels of your palms up to your eyes. “This isn’t some type of sick, joke, is it? I’ve never known you to be cruel, Marcus, so don’t start now. Please.”
He took a step closer and gingerly took your forearms in his hands. When you moved your hands away from your face, he dropped your arms and brought his hands up to your face to brush the tears away.
Marcus whispered your name and tenderly stroked your cheek. “Agnes was right. You are the love of my life. I’m so sorry it took me so long to figure that out, sweetheart.”
“You have to be serious about this, Marcus,” you whispered back. “You’re it for me, and if you decide you don’t actually want me, it’ll break me. I won’t recover, and neither will our friendship. So I have to know you’re sure.”
The slow smile he gave you was filled with reverence. “What do you want me to say so you’ll know that I’m serious?”
You pressed your lips together and shook your head. “I don’t know, Marcus.”
He let out a soft sigh. “How about this?” He took your hands in his and stepped closer. Marcus whispered your full name as he closed his eyes and rested his forehead against yours. “We’ll go at your pace, sweetheart. I know you’re skeptical that this is real for me, so we’ll go as slow as you need. I’ll wait for however long it takes for you to trust this. I trust you. I know you’ll keep my heart safe. And I’ll do my very best to reassure you that I’ll keep yours safe, too.”
Marcus tilted his head to leave a soft kiss on your forehead.
“So, my dear, sweet, wonderful, beautiful, lovely friend,” he pulled back to look in your eyes. “Can I take you on a date and get to know you?”
You weren’t sure what you were expecting, but him asking to get to know you definitely wasn’t it. You chuckled. “Get to know me? Marcus, you’ve known me since I was three years old. What else is there for you to know?”
He grinned and glanced down at your lips. When he looked back up, he lifted his eyebrows, asking silent permission.
With your slight nod, he leaned closer. “There’s so much to learn, Lance. What makes you smile,” he tilted your chin up and kissed below your ear. You let out a soft whimper and he smiled. “What inspires you,” he kissed the underside of your jaw. “What makes you feel like the most important girl in the world,” he moved up to kiss the tip of your nose. “What makes you cry,” he kissed your forehead. “How I got lucky enough to have a woman as wonderful as you love me.”
Marcus paused long enough for you to open your eyes to look into the deep brown of his. “How to make your knees weak.” He brushed his thumb along your cheekbone and whispered, “How to kiss you properly.”
He looked back down at your lips and waited. You knew he wanted to give you the time to pull away if you weren’t ready to take that step. You had waited so long to kiss him, though. You had wanted it for so long that you were a little afraid that if you didn’t kiss him, you’d never have the chance again.
He glanced back at your eyes and smiled. Just as he moved to give you space, you closed that distance. Your lips met his with an almost desperate passion. You brought your hands up to cradle his face, and he moved his around your torso to pull you closer. He brushed his tongue against your bottom lip and you let him in.
The two of you stayed like that until the oven timer went off, startling you into separating. Marcus rested his forehead against yours again.
“Dinner’s ready,” he laughed.
You chuckled and let go of him to grab dishes, but he tightened his hold. “I love you,” he said, looking into your eyes. “I love you, and I will wait as long as you need me to. You already mean the world to me.”
Your breath caught in your throat again at his reuse of the words you said to what you thought was a sleeping Marcus two months ago. He gave you a quick peck on the cheek and turned back around to turn off the timer and pull whatever he made out of the oven.
“So is this what I can expect for my relationship with Marcus Pike?”
He looked at you with a small smirk on his face. “A relationship, huh? I thought I’d have to take you on a date, first.”
The heat in your face was immediate. You’ve loved him since you were seven, of course you wanted a relationship with him. But he was right, there was no need to rush this.
“Well, a date would be nice, I guess.”
Marcus’ smile softened. “I’m just teasing you, Lance. I plan on romancing the hell out of you for as long as you’ll let me.”
“You’re a loony.”
He set the baking dish on a hot pad and turned to mime drawing a sword. “The black knight always triumphs.”
You hummed and matched his smile. “The only time you ever let me be King Arthur was when he faced the black knight. Did you just like having me pretend to cut all of your limbs off?”
Marcus chuckled and a light blush spread across his cheeks. “It always made you laugh. So yeah, I guess.”
“That’s it, right there.”
He quirked an eyebrow at you.
“That’s how I fell in love with you. Those little things. You gave up playing your favorite character just because you knew it would make me laugh.”
He blushed deeper and looked bashful.
“I’d follow you anywhere, Marcus.”
“You won’t have to. Because whatever happens, it’ll be together.”
Together.
You liked the sound of that.
Everything was planned out. The two of you had gone to Bob and Edith’s for breakfast pancakes in the morning, you’d gone to the Smithsonian to see the O’Keefe exhibit they’d just brought in, and then you decided you’d have a little fun with it and go to a wine and painting class together, completely ironically. You’d secretly flown both of your parents in, and his sisters decided they wanted to be there, so they came in, too. The wine and painting would be just the two of you, and then they’d all come in and be there for the big question itself.
What you weren’t ready for was the instructor to recognize you, and ask you to lead the staff and Marcus in a painting.
“Well, this is really just something fun for my boyfriend and I to do together, I’d rather-”
Marcus put his hand on your shoulder and drew your attention to him. “How often does an opportunity like this come around? It’ll be fun, Lance.”
You sighed and closed your eyes. Damn him for being able to talk you into anything. That’s how two dogs and a cat had found a home in your shared townhouse. “Okay.”
The instructor squealed and rushed to hug you. “Oh my god, this is going to be great! Can we do a mini version of that mountain in autumn one you did last year? Please?” Her please was drawn out long like she was a kid asking for ice cream.
“Yeah, that’s fine, I guess.”
“This is going to be amazing! Okay, I’ll set everything up, you don’t have to do a thing except walk us through your process.”
Marcus ran his hands down your arms. “I know it’s not ideal, but you’re giving them such a cool experience. How often do they get to have such a legitimately professional painter show them how they work?”
“That’s not- I mean, sure, but there was a plan, and it’s getting messed up, and-”
“Breathe, baby. It’s just a silly date night. We’ll have many more, my love.”
You glanced over his shoulder and saw your family silently filing into the shop. The panic you felt suddenly multiplied.
“Why are you so upset about plans changing? You’re usually okay with a bit more of a go with the flow date.”
The instructor came out from the back room and looked past the two of you. “Oh, I’m sorry, this is a private party.”
Marcus turned to look at who they were talking to.
“Mom? Dad? What are all of you doing here? Not that I’m not happy to see you, but...”
Your dad nodded for him to look behind him, and when he turned, you were already knelt down.
“I have loved you since I was seven years old when you climbed the tree at the park to get my teddy that Blake Jones had thrown up there down. I loved you while you loved someone else, twice,” you winked at him. He had tears gathering in his eyes. “I will love you for as long as I’m breathing, and I’m sure long after that, too. You already mean the world to me. And I figure it’s about time you’re the one getting romanced. So, Marcus Alexander Pike,” you opened the black velvet box to reveal a simple platinum band, “Will you marry me?”
He looked up at the ceiling and chuckled as a tear fell. “Of course I’ll marry you.”
Your family and the staff cheered as he pulled you up from the floor. “I love you.”
You took his hand and slid the ring on his finger. “I love you, too, Marcus. With everything I have in me.”
And as he leaned in to kiss you, you knew your heart was full. That this man was everything you’d ever wanted, and you knew he wanted you right back.

hot summer (sneak peek pt.2)!!!
Tumblr media
He was a boy across the street—no—an attractive boy across the street who happened to be a tattoo artist. You didn’t want to do anything about it, but your friends encouraged you to either stop sulking or make a move. And you chose the latter.
Pairing: tattoo artist/neighbourjungkook! x female reader
Genre: fluff and smuuuuuut
Rating: 18+ because there’s some smuuuuuutttt (it’s the most detailed I’ve ever written, soooo proceed with caution) and swearing
Warnings: smut, soft sex, dom!/sub!jungkook, dom!/sub!femreader, penetrative sex without protection (don’t be silly, wrap your willy!), bullet vibrator, oral fem receiving, creampie, fingering, making out, and swearing. There are mentions of domestic violence, but it is not detailed. It is in the perspective of the reader, who is witnessing this from a distance.
Word Count: 9,000-10,000 (each because there will be 2 parts)
A/N: Uni has been a lot, so I will be post the full part 1 on Monday. Thank you so much for waiting, and for all the support and love I’ve gotten from the previous sneak peek! Here’s a little more to keep you on your toes ;)
Also, if you’d like to be on this fic’s (and future ones) taglist, comment your username, and I’ll update this fic and have your username in future fics too!
⊱ ────── {⋅. ✯ .⋅} ────── ⊰
You looked across the traffic, into the apartment building across from yours. A boy sat back into his chair, holding a book in his hands. He began to read, of course, in a simple manner. His eyes scanned the pages, imagining the words written in his mind.
He was man, most likely, in his early twenties, but referring to him as a “man” felt odd.
You were fascinated by him. He was good looking, even from kilometres away. If you leaned against your balcony’s rails, you could see his dark wavy brown hair, his slightly sun-kissed skin, and his all-black clothing ensemble. He wore no shirt, probably from the heat or being in the comfort of his own home.
You stepped away from the railing and back into your apartment, drawing back the curtain and turning your back to the balcony.
How long have you been gawking at this stranger? Had he glanced up from his book and saw you standing there?
You drew all your curtains closed, paranoid, and embarrassed.
People crowded the city’s streets.
The sun was out, which meant everyone became runners, joggers, and walkers. People, families, and friends came out from their hideaways and into the sunshine. You, on the other hand, sat safely on your balcony.
Crowds made you nervous. You liked meeting people, but the thought of pushing through a dense mass of strangers made you shudder.
So, you watched people push and brush pass each other from ten floors up, sipping at your iced tea.
You gazed at the apartment from the other night.
It was empty.
You could see simplistic black and white art and photographs decorating the walls and modern furniture. His bedroom is to the left, with a gaping window that allowed anyone to look in. The same applied to the rest of the apartment: big windows and no curtains.
You sipped your iced tea.
You could imagine this man’s wardrobe. Minimalistic shades, and maybe some pops of colour. Chunky black sneakers and dark accessories. He must’ve been an artist of some sort.
Your phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Y/N!” Your friend, and roommate, Ashly, chimed on the other end. “Are you busy at the moment?”
“Not at all,” you replied, setting down your drink, “what’s up?”
“I was thinking of having a get-together. There’d be wine, snacks, and music. It’d be small, maybe five people, including ourselves?”
“You want me at your party?”
“Well, it isn’t a party—just a few girls and gossip.”
You pondered for a moment. “Where is it?”
“The get-together?”
“Yes,”
“It’d be at our place in two weeks.” Ashly sighed. “Is that enough time, mom?”
You chuckled. “Yes, my child.”
“Awesome! We can plan when I come back from work.”
“Okay, see you soon.”
“See ya!”
“Bye.” You hung up and looked back at the apartment.
The boy had come back. He wore a back cap, which he quickly took off and ruffled his hair, and, like a few days ago, adorned a full black ensemble. Despite the warm weather, he had worn a black leather jacket, jeans, and sneakers.
You watched him shuck off his jacket and toss it on the couch, and head to his bedroom.
He, with a lack of better words, flopped onto his bed and appeared to take a nap.
You chuckled to yourself—definitely a boy.
.
.
It had been a week since you looked back at the apartment.
You had just come back from work, and Ashly usually arrives back home an hour later.
The apartment you shared with Ashly was a carbon-copy of an IKEA display. You joked about it before, saying, “if someone were to flip through a 2019 IKEA catalogue, randomly choose a page, you’d probably think our place looked the same—or you’d find one of our pieces of furniture.”
It wasn’t a bad thing. IKEA was a popular place to shop at, and it was excellent quality.
Your furniture was various shades of white, navy blue, grey, silver, and light brown. The colour palette continued to your cutlery, kitchen items, and your bedrooms.
The place was cozy and didn’t leave room (pun intended) for a frivolous lifestyle.
The boy’s apartment was similar yet different. There was a sense of minimalism, like yours, but the furniture was dark—almost raven black.
As remarked before, there were black and white photographs and inky modern furniture. There were no colours in his home, just assorted shades.
His front door opened, and two bodies tumbled inside—his and a female.
Their bodies entangled with one and other and gripping each other’s clothes. The female’s clothes were the first to come off, exposing her bra and lack of underwear. The boy seemed pleased because he smirked before attaching his lips to her vagina.
You were shocked, scared, and worried all at once. You wanted to look away but found a curiosity within.
This man—boy—didn’t appear to have any desire to shut the world out.
You watched as this boy perform oral sex to this female—in the right way because the girl appeared to be moaning a lot—and you couldn’t look away.
It was like watching live porn, in a weird and public sense. It was, slightly, pleasurable too.
They took off their clothes shortly after the girl seemed to orgasm and engaged in penetrative sex. He took her from behind, against his couch. You, and whoever else stumbled upon this erotic scene, had a perfect view of their naked sides.
“Oh, my lord,” you gasped.
You felt the familiar tingle in your lower region.
Realizing this, you cursed under your breath and closed your curtains.
“What the fuck,” you exhaled, leaning forward on the dining table.
“I just watched my neighbour have sex,” you muttered, “and enjoyed it.”
You paced the room as if giving a lecture to a child.
“You were turned on by your neighbour having sex!” You shouted at yourself. “What the hell?! Were you fantasying? Him?! What the fuck, Y/N? Might as well be Joe Goldberg, and whip out your—”
“Y/N?”
You stopped in your tracks and turned to your front door. Ashly stood in shock.
“Are you alright?” Her Australian accent was thick with concern.
You smiled, “Never better.”
She let out a pulse of nervous laughter before tossing her keys in the small dish on the kitchen counter.
“What were you saying about Joe Goldberg? The guy from You? And why are the curtains closed?” Ashly leaned her hand against the counter, and her other on her hip. She resembled a mother about to lecture their kid about a text from a stranger.
You chuckled.  “Nothing of importance—anyways, how was your day, Ash?”
“Oh, no, no, no, no, Y/N. You’re not escaping this one.” She walked up to you and firmly placed both her hands on her hips. “What is all this that about?”
“Look who’s the mother now,” you muttered, making Ashly raise her eyebrow.
You inhaled a lungful of air. “The boy in the apartment across from us is having sex right now, and they’re bare-ass naked in front of their big-ass windows. I had to close the curtains because I felt like I was intruding on their sexual activity, and it was just weird that they didn’t close their own—but I feel like that boy doesn’t own any curtains—so I just closed our curtains.” You said in one breath.
Ashly’s eyes widened with shock, “What?” She walked past you and threw open the curtains.
“Ash, don’t just rip them wide open!” You rushed over and closed the curtains.
She glared at you before cracking the drapes a bit to take a look. “Oh, my God.” She gasped. “They are having sex.”
“Still?” You crouched down and peered through the break.
“Oh yeah,” she nodded, “and harder than ever.”
You both watched, only for a few seconds before closing the curtains again, the boy drill into the girl. The boy faced the windows, leaving everyone to see his face and the top of the girl’s head as she tilted it back with pleasure.
“Well, he seems very good at what he’s doing,” Ashly commented, walking away as you closed the drapes.
“Ash!” You said in a loud whisper as if the boy across the street could hear.
“I’m just saying, the girl seems like she’s having the best time of her life, being pounded by that dude!” She defended.
“Jesus Christ, Ash, shut up!”
“I’m not wrong,” she shrugged.
You looked at her sheepishly, and you both burst with laugher.
Both of you spent dinner recapping your days: Ashly was currently dealing with an HR (Human Resources) problem in her company—she couldn’t go into details because of confidentiality, but it had to do with a problematic employee who was spouting racist nonsense online, which could affect the company’s image; and was immorally wrong because racism and any discrimination based on sexuality, race, religion, and so on, cannot be tolerated.
Your day and work-life were conversely dull.
You managed finances and taxes for your corporation, and the only exciting event to date was the incorrect money evaluation from a co-worker, which lead the company to believe there was wiggle-room for spending; when in reality, they were spending too much.
You pushed the pasta around in your plate while looking at the covered windows. You watched the curtains sway in the wind. Ashly had opened the windows a few minutes ago to let the hot air out of the apartment.
It was the hottest summer since you moved to the city five years ago, including the weather and the recently noticed neighbour across the street.
You continued to think about him and the way he had sex with that girl. It was romantic, yet aggressive and needy.
Fuck. You cursed.
“Hello?” Ashly waved a hand in front of your face. “I know that HR can be boring to listen to, but please try to look interested.”
You chuckled, “Sorry, Ash. I just zoned out a bit.”
“Oh, I know,” she replied, “but thank you for the apology.”
She sighed. “Well, I’m ready to watch some Netflix.” She looked at her watch, “And as it is almost eight o’clock, I think I’ll only be able to last for a ripe two hours until my old body starts to shut down.”
You laughed, taking both of your empty plates and cutlery to the kitchen. Ashly joined you, bringing the drained wine glasses.
“Care to join me?” She asked while you loaded the dishes.
“It’d be the highest honour, m’lady.”

University student!Yuta x reader

Taglist: @melitadala @chxotickpoptrash @aiforyuu @fineapplehoe (please let me know if you’d like to be tagged!)
As soon as you told Chan what happened, after the other two left, he was speechless. He immediately offered to come home with you and help you choose what to wear, as he was the one person of those you had met that day that you were sure you reached your house, where you found Taeyong sitting with Yuta at the balcony. You let Chan in and Taeyong came to meet him in the speed of light.
“SO, you’re in her class, right? I’m Taeyong, oh and this is Yuta. We’re two years older. Do you like it here? Did you find a nice place? Oh, and let us know if you need anything…”
“Taeyong, just let the man breathe.” They both laughed at your comment and you went outside to find Yuta.
“Hey, how are you?”
“Great, thanks. You?” he asked, with a smile on his face.
“Awesome, honestly. My first day was amazing and I also met a lot of people, actually. I didn’t expect to be so lucky on my first day, so I’m kinda thrilled,” you said.
“And she’s got a date.”
“Chan, oh my god, it’s not a date!”
“Yet…” he smirked. Taeyong was looking at you in shock, and Yuta wasn’t even blinking for two seconds.
“Well, we went for a coffee with two other guys and the waiter kinda hit on me.”
“You hit on him first.”
“Fine. I hit on him first. The point is that I’ll see him again tomorrow and Chan came for emotional support.”
“Oh my god, my baby’s got a date!” Taeyong shouted in enthusiasm and ran to hug you.
“Did you say a waiter? Where?” Yuta asked.
“At that coffee shop close to our building. His name is Jonghyun. He’s a third-year student, so you might know him.”
“I do,” Yuta answered.
“And?”
“And what?”
“Is he nice? Like, am I going to die if I’m alone with him? Is he a good guy?”
“I think so, yeah,” Yuta replied. “I don’t know him well enough to have more details though.”
“It’s okay. I guess I should be thankful for the fact that you’ll know who to blame when you find me murdered at the bottom of a cliff.” You made everyone laugh. Yuta laughed as well. It was a beautiful sight to watch. You thought of that every time you saw him, but quickly snapped out of it, when Chan started dragging you back inside the house and towards your room.
“So, what’s the deal with you and those guys?” Chan asked, as he was going through your closet.
“Well, Taeyong’s my best friend ever since we were little and now, he’s my roommate, and Yuta is a friend whom he met here. He’s a nice guy.”
“Kinda cold though.”
“Yeah, he is. Taeyong’s other friends told me he’s a sweetheart when he opens up to people though.”
“I sure hope so, because he barely said hello to me earlier.”
“I hope so too…” you mumbled and continued searching with Chan, until he thought he had found the perfect outfit for you to mesmerize your potential date.
A while later he had to go, leaving you alone in your room to sit, when you heard a knock on your door.
“Are you decent?”
“Yeah, come in,” you said, and Taeyong opened the door.
“Will you come sit with us?”
“Taeyong, I wanted to talk to you about this.”
“What? Sitting with us? Did anything happen with anyone?”
“Oh no, not at all. But it’s not necessary that they always want me around. I just moved here and stole their friend away. And I don’t want them to think that.”
“But Johnny would never… And V, no.” He paused. “Is Yuta acting weird?” You didn’t even have time to react and he was already making assumptions. “If he is, I’ll kill him for sure. He has nothing to worry about! Tell me. Has he said anything to you?”
“No, of course not. He was being a bit distant and I asked Johnny about it, is all. But, Taeyong, think about it. You used to be two, and now I’m here. It’s not irrational to feel like this. Now, please go. You’ve left him alone.”
“Fine. Come whenever you want though. I have other friends besides him, and he needs to know that.” Taeyong left your room, obviously irritated. You worried that something would happen with Yuta, but you didn’t hear them raising their voices. You feared that one day it would happen, but you were safe for now. Besides, you had already met enough people to hang out with and not become a load on Taeyong and his friends. You were already becoming independent.
The next day, you wore the outfit you had found with Chan and went to college, where you found him staring at you from afar, admiring the work he’d done.
“Oh my god, red suits you so much.”
“Come on, you’re making me blush,” you said and he laughed.
“Are you ready for five long hours of class and then for your date?”
“Shhh, don’t say that so loudly. Someone might hear it.”
“Someone might hear what?” you heard and turned around, only to find Yuta standing right beside you.
“Nothing. What are you doing here?” you asked in panic.
“What do you mean? I study here.”
“Oh, right.”
Chan didn’t hesitate to interfere, seeing you were in complete panic mode. “Don’t get her wrong, she’s just nervous for this afternoon.”
“Ah, right, the date.” Yuta smiled. “I hope everything goes well with that. But, that’s not why I wanted to talk to you. Can you come with me for a second?”
“Oh no, don’t bother. I’m going to class, alright? I’ll get you a seat next to the others,” Chan said and you thanked him.
Yuta waited a few seconds for Chan to leave before he started talking, which seemed like the longest seconds of your entire life. “So, since you’re new here, and you probably don’t know about this, our department hosts movie nights two times a month for people from different departments to get to know each other. And it’s this Saturday. We’re watching The Zodiac Killer. Would you like to come? I told the others already and they said yes.”
As shocked as you were from Yuta’s suggestion, you thought you wouldn’t dare to lose this opportunity, since it only happened once in a lifetime. “Yes, I’d love to!” you exclaimed, trying and not succeeding to hold back your enthusiasm.
“Okay, I’ll text you the details,” he smiled. “Well, I probably won’t have to, though, as I’ll be seeing you all the time from now on. Anyway, I have to get going. Bye,” he said and left soon after, leaving you speechless and unable to go to class. Yuta, who was colder than an ice cube, had invited you voluntarily. If that wasn’t progress, you didn’t know what could be.
You went at your class, sat next to Chan, who was mocking you for Jonghyun all day, and BamBam, who was practically sleeping on is desk, and that was how the day passed until you actually had to man up and go to the coffee place.
“Chan, please slap me in the face. I can’t go in.”
“No, I can’t slap you. We need you to be pretty for your date.”
“Ah, come on! This is not the way to give some strength to a friend.”
“Neither is slapping you before meeting a hot guy!”
“Fuck, you’re right. Okay, I’m going in.”
“You’ve got this! I believe in you.” He waved goodbye at you and left as you entered the coffee shop around 5:30. You spotted him on the counter, taking an order from an older lady. You hadn’t consciously noticed it, but you spent a few seconds looking at him, admiring his subtle but rather gentle smile that showed off his cheekbones and all the beautiful characteristics of his face.
You soon snapped out of it, as you heard his voice.
“Y/N, you came! Hi! What can I get you?”
You blinked a few times, trying to get it together and actually retain contact with the planet earth, and replied to him. “Oh, hi! Um, a double cappuccino with a lot of sugar please.”
“Sure. You can sit for a while until I finish my shift and then we can go for a tour around the city, since you’re new. I can show you a few places if you’d like and maybe we can sit somewhere…?” he said, smiling. You couldn’t take your eyes off his smile. He was incredibly handsome and seemed like an amazing guy. What could possibly go wrong?
“Yeah, sure! I’d love to,” you replied. Besides, it wasn’t really that hard to watch this guy work while enjoying a perfect cup of coffee.
After a few minutes, you noticed him going at the back of the shop. He returned moments later, wearing his normal clothes and not the shop’s uniform, finding you emerged in your thoughts.
“You look so good in red.”
“Oh my god thanks,” you were already blushing, three seconds into your date. That was when you realized he was wearing a dark gray shirt and black pants that made him twice more handsome than usual. In fact, you wished Chan hadn’t left the city center just to see him like this. You were sure your words would not even be close to how he really looked. “You don’t look bad yourself,” you teased.
He offered you his arm and you followed, watching him show you the basics in the city since you were new there. He knew all the best coffee shops, bars and stores you wouldn’t notice at first glance. After a while, you decided to sit at a place near the park for a beer, since there was the best view. The orange leaves falling off trees were the best setting for your date. Or, at least what was starting to look less than a get-to-know encounter and more like a date.

“Jesus, kid! Don’t you ever pull that one on me again, okay?”
Max was trying to escape his embrace, but Sam didn’t budge. His heart was still beating out a disjointed rhythm.
“I didn’t do anything!” Max protested.
Alex was quick to interject. “You ran out on me.”
Max turned in the circle of his arms glaring at Alex. “Only because you fell asleep.”
Alex’s face got all red and she sneaked a nervous glance at Sam.
“She’s got school in the morning,” Sam told Max. “She was tired. That doesn’t mean you can run out on her.”
“This isn’t the first time either,” Alex put in, emboldened by Sam’s support. “He ran to her on Sunday as well.”
“What’s this, Max?” Sam didn’t want to make his voice stern, but the fear wasn’t helping. Alex had called him towards the end of his meeting to tell him she couldn’t find Max. Sam’s heart had dropped through the ground at the mere thought. By the time he could ask Chase to pull out his car- Sam’s was still parked in the campus- a second call from Alex had already informed him that Max was back and okay. But Sam couldn’t stay put. He’d made Chase drive him back anyway.
“She’s my friend.” Max muttered.
“You’ve only met her twice!” Alex accused.
Max threw Alex a betrayed look, mumbling to himself.
Sam rubbed his face with his hand. “What’s happening?”
Alex started to say something, but Max interjected. “I want to tell him!”
“Alright, go on.”
Max told him about a new friend he’d made in one of the buildings along the playground, and that he was going to see her on Monday again.
Sam shot a look at Alex to confirm and she nodded encouragingly. Falling asleep on the watch might have been a one time thing, otherwise Alex was both smart and thorough. She wouldn’t have agreed to anything that wasn’t safe for Max.
“I can go, right?”
“Only if you promise to never go out by yourself.”
Max made an excited sound. “Yes!”
“Okay, enough of this moping,” Chase announced. He had been standing uncharacteristically quiet, watching the drama unfold. “Alex gets to sleep, Max gets his date and Sam gets to chill. What does Chase get?”
Sam turned to him. “What do you want?”
“Food. I want food.”
Alex waved to Max, who didn’t acknowledge it. He was still mad about ratting him out. “Bye, Sam. Bye, Mr. Lincoln.”
Sam nodded, and Chase waved at her cheerfully.
Sam let go of Max, not really looking him in the eyes, lest he should sense just how freaked out Sam was. That’s not what kids should see in their parents- the fear of being incompetant. Sam had learned as much from Dean. His older brother had been absolutely confident in every decision he’d made for Sam. It was only in the later years that Sam realised how freaked out Dean must have been attempting to raise Sam, even with Bobby and Karen’s help. They were all always second guessing themselves.
The next hour was spent on a call with Stacey. She debriefed Sam about the end of the meeting, promising to forward the transcripts after she was done with editing them. He was lucky to have found someone as efficient as her. She was a blessing. Sam appreciated that her first words were of concern for Max. Stacey had designed Sam’s schedule in such a foolproof manner that Max was never neglected. He couldn’t have been more grateful. To think that they had started their work relationship disliking each other.
Sam took his time in the shower, letting the hot water wash away some of his anxiety. Just the very thought of losing Max was enough to decapitate him. Later, as he diced the bell-peppers, his eyes kept going to the sofa where Max was playing connect four with Chase, who was sucking bigtime. It was something they did at least once a week. Right now, Chase was going on at length about how awesome the cookies were, that he was stealing from a jar. Sam didn’t remember buying any cookies at all.
A sting in his finger made him hiss. Looking down, he saw blood spreading into the bell-pepper pieces and the surface of the chopping board.
The next minute small hands were taking his finger, blowing on the cut and guiding him towards the sink.
“You never pay attention!” Max admonished.
“What do you care?” Sam muttered, washing his finger under the steady stream. The cut wasn’t too deep. “It’s not like you don’t love worrying me.”
Max huffed. “You’re being melodramatic.”
“No, I’m not. Seriously, Max, do you want me to stop going to work? How am I supposed to concentrate on anything if you’re going to be a flight risk?”
“I wasn't running away from home, okay? I just went to see my friend.”
Sam knew he was overreacting but what else was there to do? Alex had sounded so frantic on the phone.
“Who’s this girl anyway?” Sam eyed his son, turning off the tap. “Is it Lucy from school?”
“Ewww nooooo!” Max cringed, making a face. “I don’t like Lucy!”
“Of course you don’t,” Sam grinned. He added more seriously, “Don’t push Alex, okay? She might decide to not babysit you anymore.”
“It’s your fault really,” Max shrugged. Chase who had gone to retrieve the first aid box- it was ridiculous he even knew where that was in the house- handed Sam a bandaid.
Sam gave Max an incredulous look. “How is any of this my fault?”
“If you got me a mom, we wouldn’t need a babysitter!”
Sam barely even had the time to pick his jaw up when Chase started howling with laughter. He raised his hand and Max high-fived him.
“Wha- what?” He spluttered. “Where’s this coming from?”
“I told you, you had this coming, Samuel,” Chase chuckled, superior. “Even your boy seems to be scoring more dates here. And look at the little daredevil sneaking out to get em. What’re you waiting for? Divine intervention?” He lowered his voice just for Sam’s ears. “Even Steve from HR gets laid more than you. And he smells like Kleenex!”
Sam glared at his friend. “That’s it. Get out of my house! I’m not responsible for feeding you.”
“Now, now,” Chase placated, putting his hands on either side of Sam’s shoulders from behind and giving them a squeeze. “Look at these muscles. Such a waste to not have beautiful arms draped around them.”
“Well, there’s always you!”
Chase huffed, drawing back. “You don’t pay me any attention.”
Max giggled.
Sam turned to his son. “Max, having a mom doesn’t mean you won’t have a babysitter. Working mothers are a thing!”
“He’ll, at least, have quality food,” Chase put in. “All you feed him is vegetables.”
“You know what? I’m done with the both of you. Go back to that game you were playing.”
“No,” Chase shook his head. “This is more fun. Why aren’t you asking Jess out?”
“You know why.” Sam wasn’t as patient this time as he had been the last ten times, since Chase had been badgering him every damn minute. “Go wash your hands, Max. And help Uncle Chase set up the table.”
Max knew he was being dismissed, so he made a whole show of slowly dragging himself from the kitchen counter and heading upstairs at the speed of a snail. Once he was surely out of earshot, Sam hissed at his friend. “Drop it, Chase! You know it’s not going to happen. Besides, the last time was embarrassing enough. I don’t know how to face her.”
Chase rolled his eyes. “She’s a grown ass woman and super hot. You’re lucky she’s into you,” He paused, the sly grin dancing in his eyes. “That was like three or four years ago. She must be long past it.”
“I sure hope so.”
“I don’t know how else to convince you,” Chase sighed, dropping all the teasing at once. “Jess is successful, beautiful and so damn smart. If a girl like that can’t move you, I don’t know what else to do for you.”
“You can always give up.”
“No chance.” Chase ran his fingers through his hair. “I just keep trying to understand what’s holding you back.”
It was Sam’s turn to sigh. “I’m married.”
“No, you’re not!” Chase argued, with more emotion than Sam had expected, enough to make him face his friend. “This isn’t marriage, Sam. This is you holding on to something dead with both your hands. Let go before your hands start decaying.”
“Don’t say that.” The pain in his own voice depressed Sam.
Chase grimaced. “What would I not give to see this girl! Who is she? Some supermodel? Is she gilded out of diamonds or something?”
It was no point going in circles with Chase over this. Sam knew from years of experience that he wouldn’t give up.
“What was her name again?”
“It’s-” Sam’s gaze shifted to the base of the staircase and found Max standing there, face blank. “We’ll talk later,” Sam whispered, wondering how much Max had heard.
The dinner was a quiet affair. Sam knew it wasn’t so because Chase and Max were appreciating the sensory overload of how amazing his stir fry was. Chase was sulking and Max was lost in thought. After Chase had left for the night, Sam set to cleaning the kitchen. Max came to sit by him on the island counter, picking out a cookie from the jar Chase had abandoned.
“How was your day?” Max asked and despite himself Sam chuckled. There was something so odd about the question coming out of a six and a half year old.
“T’was alright,” Sam told him. Most of it had been very boring, except for the evening scare and the morning lecture in which he was mere feet away from Y/N, every cell in his body hyper aware of the fact that she was there. It was pathetic and Sam knew it. “I do have a hearing tomorrow. I think we’ll win this one.”
“What’s it about?”
“Property fraud. Very interesting.”
Wiping the kitchen top, and hanging the rag on the hook over the sink, Sam came to sit by his son. “How was your day?”
“Very interesting.” Max smiled, but didn’t elaborate. Not wanting to flare up his earlier irritation, Sam didn’t ask him for the details either. Instead, he dipped his hand in the jar and drew out a Choco chip cookie.
“Is it because of me that you don’t go out on dates?”
Max’s voice was small, diminished even and it made Sam draw in a quick breath.
“Max!” He exhaled. “Why would you say that?”
His boy wriggled his fingers. “I don’t know. Uncle Chase is right. You don’t have any fun. I know it’s because you have to spend all your free time with me.”
“You don’t mean that,” Sam stated outright, shaking his head. “I know you don’t because not one second of the time spent with you has been a sacrifice. You’re my son. You’ve got to know that I would do anything for you.”
“Except get me a mom.”
“Mom’s don’t grow on trees or fall out skies, Max.” Sam reasoned trying to keep the exasperation out of his voice. “And don’t you ever say that I don’t have fun in life. We have fun, don’t we? I love that and wouldn’t change it for any girl in the world.”
“Not even for Y/N?”
Sam faltered, aghast. Maybe it was because he was thinking about Y/N so much already, or because Max didn’t usually bring her up, but somewhere inside him there was a nagging feeling that he was missing something here. Max’s question was natural in the context of the conversation… but the very conversation felt out of context. Max knew very well what he meant to Sam, and even if a part of him thought that Sam was sacrificing for his sake- Sam fervently wished that wasn’t the case- the Max he knew would never bring it up this conversationally.
So he answered with complete conviction. “No. Not even for Y/N.”
“And you get this through your head, Max,” he continued, voice pained despite his efforts. “You and I are already a complete family. I love you with everything that I have. So long as we are together, you’ll make do with just me, won’t you?”
“Mhmm.”
Sam ruffled Max’s hair, and kissed his brow, rankled by his words. Regardless of what Sam had just said, wouldn’t it be nice for Max to have a mom? Even in his imagination the face was perfectly clear, the vision already there. He’d be lying to himself if he said that over the years he hadn’t thought about her holding Max, laughing with him. There was only ever one face that completed Sam’s daydream- Y/N’s. But Sam also knew just how impossible it was. Y/N wouldn’t even think of the aftermath of an accident, imagining her as a motherly figure was simply cruel. So much that the whiplash of it hit Sam’s conscience. It was why he hadn’t mentioned Max to her.
Trying to reign in his thoughts he absentmindedly took a bite of the cookie in his hand, chewing as he tried to dislodge the idea of Max and Y/N. Impossible… too painful, his mind screamed.
Abruptly, he stopped.
“Hey, Max? Sam asked slowly, “Where did you get these cookies?”
“Umm, those girl scouts came over this afternoon,” he said, not meeting Sam’s gaze. “I asked Alex to buy. Is that okay?”
“You sure these are girl scout cookies?”
“Yep.”
Eating the rest of the cookie in one bite, Sam jumped down from the counter and turned to his boy. “Promise me. Promise me you won’t think like that again,” Sam pleaded. “That you’re keeping me from anything. You saved me, kiddo. I would have been barely worth anything without you.”
“Same,” Max quipped. And despite the absolute horror of the situation, and how true both of their words were, Sam found himself snorting.
“Enough with the black comedy,” he ordered, “Lets go brush your teeth.”
“Yessum.”
Max leapt into Sam’s arms, and he carried his boy out of the kitchen. Sam eyed the jar of cookies one last time before switching off the lights.
Friday, first day of Induction fair. It was going to be one long day tomorrow.
*******************
“Alright, everybody clear on what they’re supposed to be doing tomorrow?”
“It’s 11:30 in the night, Y/N,” Seth complained, “We aren’t going to be any more ready.”
“I’m sorry,” you waved apologetically. “You guys should go home, I’ll wrap up the rest. I’m just nervous.”
“It’ll be okay,” Madison came to your side, putting her arm around your shoulders. “Seth’s just kidding. Aren’t you?” She turned on the poor guy who shook his head and you snickered.
“Okay, pack up y’all!” You called out to the people in the background busy with the last checks on the sound system. “We’re going to have a blast tomorrow.”
Cheers went up around you. One by one everyone clapped you on your back, offered smiles and went their way; only Madison, Brad and Rebecca remained.
“Who are you taking with you to the Saturday night dance?” Brad asked.
Well crap! “A friend of mine,” you answered. You’d have to ask one of the guys if they were free Saturday evening.
“Hmm… Does this friend happen to go to Law school?”
“Nope!”
“We’ll at least have time for one dance,” Brad insisted, leaning next to you as you packed your bag. “Your friend won’t mind, will he?”
“Brad,” you sighed. “I’m clearly not your type.”
He put his hands up. “Hey, I’m not implying anything here, but if that’s what you got out of it…”
You ignored him, walking back towards Maddie. He kept up with you easily. “What about the dance? One dance is well deserved.”
“Okay, fine!” Better to just agree and get it done with. Brad left with a superior smirk and you wondered what was the deal with him.
“Brad’s a great guy,” Rebecca said. “I don’t know what kind of Prince Charming you’re waiting for that you keep turning him down at every opportunity.”
“I’m not waiting for anyone.” It was true. You had found someone who could put Prince Charming to shame and then you had lost him. Now, the most you could hope for was his friendship. The thinly veiled bitterness and longing in Rebecca’s voice when she spoke of Brad led you to believe that her dislike for you wasn’t reasonless after all.
At the quad, you stopped, letting the girls know that you’d be heading towards the library, to relieve Molly from her shift early. It was supposed to be your shift anyway, Molly was doing you a favor by subbing.
“I’ll come with you,” Madison quipped. She waved a goodbye to Rebecca and the two of you set towards the library, your footsteps echoing in the night.
Once Molly had left, Madison logged into one of the records PC’s and started working on the case studies for professor Whitman. Meanwhile, you logged into your mail to print out the schedules and itineraries for the speakers tomorrow.
Just as you were printing out the last set, your email pinged, alerting you to an email from Sam. It was ridiculous that your heart should leap out of your chest, especially when it was merely a reply to your assignment. It was past one, and Sam was still up checking coursework.
Oh, how you wanted to reply back, ask him why he was up this late. But this was an official email ID. It would be wrong to get personal here. Unreasonable as it was, you were miffed that you didn’t have Sam’s phone number. Friends should be able to call each other, right? You could always find it out from the directory, however, you were stubborn about getting it from him.
“Hey, I just heard back from Professor Winchester,” Madison whispered, even though there wasn’t anyone else in the library. “I scored a 21.5!”
“That’s great!” You smiled.
“What about you? Did you hear from him yet?”
“Just. Scored a 23.”
Madison scrunched her nose, “I bet that’s the highest.” She sounded rueful, but you knew she didn’t mean any ill. “You mind if I take a look at your paper?”
“Course not.”
Madison read through your document carefully. “I can see why he rated you this high. This is great work, Y/N! I wonder…”
“What?”
She looked bemused. “In my email, he’s specifically pointed out all the good things and complemented me for my good work. In your reply he’s only pointed out the one flaw that cost you the two marks. He’s not said one good word about the rest.”
Maybe he thought you would understand, or maybe he was just too tired. If not commenting on your essay earned him ten extra minutes of rest, you were very glad that he hadn't.
You shrugged at Madison. “Maybe he forgot.”
“That’s not done,” she frowned. “You should ask him tomorrow.”
“Sure.”
A glazed look came over Madison’s face. “Remember the first time we were alone here?”
“We’d been trying to research for Mr. Winchester’s first assignment,” you smiled.
“And ended up stalking him instead,” Madison winked. “After I went home that day, I read up more about that sensationalised case of his. Really gruesome, the whole deal. Never pinned him for the type of lawyer to take up a criminal law case, let alone homicides.”
“What’s there to fight for in a criminal homicide?” You wondered. “Isn’t that DA’s job?”
You remembered a little from what you had read with Madison that day, over a month ago. Twin homicides followed by a legal battle over property inheritance. The deceased’s brother vs. the deceased son. There were also connected matters of custodial rights, abuse charges and adoption.
“It was really scandalous, Y/N,” Madison said. “You wouldn’t know because you didn’t live in California. It was all over the papers and news in LA. Ralph Simmons was this bigshot producer, and his on and off girlfriend- both of them shot by some drug pimp. A whole big racket came out with it. I think Mr. Winchester moved out of LA to avoid the fanfare that followed him everywhere afterwards.”
“When was this?”
“Ummm… about two and half years ago,” Madison said.
So before he started teaching at Stanford, and before his job at Acton Griswold.
“Why would he leave a successful firm in LA and move base to SF?” You asked out loud. “That too after a successful stint? It doesn’t make sense.”
To your surprise, Madison laughed. “Oh, firms must be dying to have him. Even my dad offered. Apart from offering a junior partnership, Acton Gris must have paid him a ton of money. Besides, his working hours are more like a consultants, so he can manage classes. That’s a lot of relaxations- only someone with that sort of fanfare would have been able to negotiate a deal.”
It wasn’t the money. That much you knew. Something else had made Sam uproot his life in LA and move here.
“Uhg! I really want to work with him, Y/N,” Madison let out. “I really want the summer internship at Acton Gris.” Seeing your expression, she quickly added, “It’s not why you think. I mean sure he’s super hot and all that, but I’ve looked up to him for his ethics, and the way he thinks. He’s just such a great lawyer.”
“Sure is.”
“I know what you’re thinking,” She said in a defeated voice. “Rich girl with a firm to her name, who could get in Acton Gris by recommendation as a favor. What’s the big deal, right?”
“Maddie, I wasn’t thinking that-”
“It’s alright if you do. Everyone does.”
You placed your hand on top of hers. “I don’t care what everyone else thinks. I care about you. The Madison I know is intelligent and hardworking, who deserves whatever she sets her heart to. Law is a lucrative practice. As long as you aren’t screwing over someone else, you should use whatever means you can.”
Madison’s eyes welled up. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Y/N. Sometimes… sometimes I wonder if I even have any real friends who care about me. Becca… Lace, Mer… they all feel like friendships of convenience than actual substance. You’re the only one I’m sure will be happy to see me succeed in life.”
Your heart reached out for Madison. She was a good person who didn’t deserve to feel this way. Slowly you reached out and put your arms around her. “Maddie,” You breathed in her hair, not knowing what else to say. You had always known she was hurting inside without her having told you. Her relations seemed frivolous to you, but by the looks of it, her family life wasn’t much good either. Deep down she was convinced that her parents, her brothers didn’t love her. What must it be like to live that way?
You’d never been rich in your life except for those short married months, but not for a minute had you questioned the love of any person you called family. How was one supposed to live on without having the assurance of being absolutely loved?
The way you’ve lived for the past six and a half years, a small voice whispered in your brain. You quelled it immediately.
“Madison,” you said firmly this time. “I love you. And I’ll always support you. To hell with anyone who thinks otherwise.”
She hugged you closer, and you felt her broken breaths against your body. She didn’t want you to see her cry, so you held on till all her tears had dried.
********
You probably looked exactly how you felt- sleepless and exhausted. The first half of day one had gone smoothly with all introductions in place. Over two hundred and fifty alumni had RSVP’d for the event and forty two had agreed to speak or participate in panel discussions. You had been told this was one of the biggest turnouts ever. Instead of feeling like you had succeeded, you just felt more scared. Organised activity wasn’t your cup of tea. Right about then you were questioning how you even ended up heading this committee.
Everyone seemed to be asking for you, everyone had some or the other work with you and the tasks were never ending. The first time that you got a minute to sit was towards the end of lunch break. You dropped into the seat at the far end of the auditorium, head in your hands.
“Here!”
You turned your face to see Sam sitting next to you with a bottle of water in his hand. Unlike his usual self, he was dressed in a light knit grey sweater and jeans today. His glasses hung from the V-shaped neckline, revealing just enough for you to see the glint of his chain. You were so exhausted, all you wanted to do was fall against his shoulder and close your eyes for just two seconds. Sighing, you took the bottle from him and drank to your heart’s content.
“Maybe doing the late night shift at the library wasn’t the best idea, huh?”
You frowned. “How do you know?”
“The register,” He said. “I went to the library in the morning to return my book.”
“I thought you were avoiding the library like the plague.” The words slipped out before you could think them through. You hoped the bitter edge in them wasn’t very obvious.
“I would come if I could, you know?”
“What’s stopping you?” You asked, belligerent, “Too scared to go back home in the dark?”
You knew it was unfair to put him in a spot like this. He had a home, his own bed. Why would he spend his nights at the library just because you worked there? Just because he hadn’t talked to you all that much lately, or given you his phone number, didn’t mean you had the right to be irritated at him.
“Y/N-” he sighed, and before he could add on to that, he was interrupted.
“There you are!”
Chase Lincoln put a hand on Sam’s shoulder. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”
You straightened your expression under the pretense of drinking more water, and handed the bottle back to Sam.
“Thank you, Mr. Winchester,” you said, standing up, “I must hurry back now. If you’ll excuse me.”
Sam stood up with you. The errant thought of resting against his shoulder made an appearance but you shoved it away violently.
“Wait,” Sam put his hand out to block you. You looked around you to see if anyone else had noticed. No one but Chase.
“Let me introduce the two of you,” he said.
“Wait, I know you,” Chase interjected. “You work with Molly, right? And you’re heading the organising committee.”
“Chase,” Sam said with gravity, making his friend focus, the green eyes sharpened on you.
Exhaling slowly, Sam turned to you. “This is Chase Lincoln. He works with me at Acton Griswold.” You heard the unsaid words- ‘He’s the one I was talking with that day in the coffee shop; my friend.”
“Chase.” Sam’s voice was heavy, the way Atlas’s might have sounded after a millennia of holding up the earth. There was defeat in it. “This- this is Y/N.”
Each time Sam uttered your name, a warmth settled in your chest. You suspected it was just your eternally besotted mind making up the idea that his voice grew softer when he said it. Apparently, that wasn’t the case, for Chase’s eyes narrowed as he took in the look on Sam’s face, then went wide in a split second. His head rapidly moved from you to Sam in a matter of moments, before his jaw dropped.
“S-... Your… “ Speech seemed to have temporarily evaded Chase.
“No diamonds,” Sam murmured.
“Y/N!” Someone shouted for you from two rows down. “There’s a problem with the mic. You need to check it out.”
“Ex- Excuse me,” you mumbled, hurrying away from Chase’s astounded stare. Maybe he knew it all, that didn’t particularly surprise you. What did surprise you was how Sam had decidedly made the introduction- as if Chase had to know.
As it turned out, the mic had only been disconnected. It was working absolutely fine. You were still grateful to have been removed from Chase’s presence, glad that you didn’t have to wait around to witness his judgement.
The rest of the day flew by faster than you could have guessed. Most of the heavy panel discussions were scheduled for the first day itself. You were blown away by the immense knowledge and expertise of those people, which was a good thing because you desperately needed a distraction.
You only saw Sam afterwards, once everything was over and the alumni were all catching up with each other, like old friends, reminiscing about the time they had spent together. Even though it was a lot of people there, your eyes kept going to Sam in his thin sweater, in a deep conversation with an aged man, who was laughing at something Sam had said.
“One down, two more days to go,” mumbled Madison. She was leaning against your back. “Can we just sleep here?”
“I told you to come home with me last night,” Rebecca stated, appearing out of nowhere. This time she had Lacey and Meredith with her. “Why did you have to stay up at the library?”
Usually Madison would’ve at least tried to answer. Today, her forehead and nose just dug deeper into your back. You pursed your lips so the smile wouldn’t spill over. She was taking a stand for how she deserved to be treated.
“Well, shit!” Lacey said. “Looks like I wasn’t wrong after all.”
Rebecca groaned. “Ugh she looks like an uptight bimbo.”
You didn’t pay attention to their conversation till Meredith said, “She’s definitely into professor Hotchester.”
Your head snapped up in Sam’s direction, but he was out of the straight line of your vision. Obscuring him was a girl, dressed in a pretty blue chiffon top and tight fitting pencil skirt. Her five inches long pumps caught the light of the setting sun and gleamed. She was tall and beautiful, statuesque in the way a swimsuit model is, her blonde hair fell to the middle of her back in perfect curls.
As you watched, she threw her hands around Sam’s neck and hugged him tightly. He willingly embraced her, too. You chanced a glance of the smile on his face as she disentangled and laughed, touching Sam’s chest lightly with her hand.
“Yeah, there’s something there,” Lacey whistled.
“Wonder who she is,” Madison whispered, so only you could hear.
You didn’t need to wonder who it was, you already knew. Jessica Moore. Sam’s Ex-girlfriend.

Hi!
Hope you’re all doing well this fine Friday. Here’s part 2 of the sweater weather chat #13!
As usual, we owe this entire fandom and world to the amazing @lumosinlove 💓
Thank you to @frombeauxbatons and @siriuslyqueer for being so cool!
Also - to avoid confusion. A Finn is a Finnish person and Finn is our love Finn o’hara 😜
Link to part one 💖
Sergei is still mad about his hair. He’s also got sweaty glitter in his eye. Ava is adorable. Nado and Kuny hosts an after party. Their cat is adorable and spoiled. Nado is being stalked by a drone. Blizzard is a lucky man. We discuss dick pics. Logan wants to be supportive. O’Knutzy jerseys!!!!! Olli has a team of protectors cause he’s a precious moomin.
“JACKIIEEEEEE”
“Oh, looks like we have a young lions prospect joining us as well. Nice to meet you, young lady, what’s your name? And here we have Kris LaVolie, Pascal Dumais and Henrik Sunnquist as well”
“Jackieeee wanna pwayyyyy”
“Sure kiddo - bye”
“Seems like LaVolie junior has more important things than press. Gentlemen, hi! How’re you enjoying this event today?”
“I think it’s great! Great to be able to support charities and show some support in general and it’s always fun to be able to bring my little girl to skate”
“She looks like a natural! And you two vets - what’s it like seeing this in the nhl?”
“It’s great! We’ve, or well me and sunny, have been in the game for a long time and it seems like the league is ready to move into the 21st century with the rest of us”
“I’ve been trying to figure out what happened to Ivanov’s hair. Do you know?”
“Well I don’t personally. I do like the color - mixed with his blonde it’s nearly the color of my home. Yellow and blue”
“Did you dye his hair then?”
“I would never! You’d have to ask him yourself. Hah”
“Well he’s been avoiding me so far”
“Oi Sergei!!”
“Well with that bellow it seems we’re finally joined by the final third in the trio of lions veterans today - sergei - we’ve had a lot of viewers ask us about your choice of hair color today? Is it a statement or?”
“Is stupid prank. I’m find out and make regret. Also I’m full with glitter and it sweats into my eye”
“That sounds uncomfortable but you all four look good - are your families here as well?”
“Yes, most kitted out as well. We had some trouble with my youngest who refused to wear anything but a paw patrol onesie but other than that Celeste managed to wrangle the other three into their jerseys”
“They think it’s fun and the glitter was a hit. Sergei’s daughter dumped an entire box of glitter on Logan and kuny. It was funny”
“Thanks guys, you look like you’re ready to get back out there”
“See ya”
“Wait, Logan, interview?”
“Hey”
“Logan! We’ve had multiple asks about your jersey and the name which seems to be on the back off Leo Newt and Finn O’Hara too?”
“Uhm, yeah, it’s an inside thing”
“Ohh okay, our viewers were wondering. Are you enjoying today’s event?”
“Yeah. Feels good to be out and supporting you know? Like there’s a lot of kids out there who’s scared and if I can help one I want to”
“Yes definitely. We’ve had so many positive comments come in. And here we have Olli Halla joining. Or... heh well. He’s got Logan in a headlock now”
“Olli! How’re you today?”
“I’m good thank you, how’re you?”
“Very well, just been asking some questions from viewers. Are you enjoying wearing the rainbow colors? We’ve had a lot of question regarding your relationship status?”
“Ohh Ollibear is a precious, single moomin and he’s got a team of protectors. Whoever wants to woo our precious baby Finn has to go through a series of tests to even be considered”
“Shut up timmy”
“Well here we have Timmy Jones as well, joining Logan Tremblay and Olli Halla”
“I think we all look good in rainbows and I’m happy to support this cause. Mental health is important and we have to use our platforms to make sure everyone is seen and heard and validated”
“Aww Olli you’re making me cry”
“Shut up lo, go play with Finn”
“Haha you’re all just jealous cause I look best in rainbows”
“That was Logan Tremblay. Now, timmy, how’re you feeling about today?”
“Get to wear awesome colors, get to skate for fun and it was fun to do glitter wars in the locker room”
“Well with that I’m gonna end the transmission for now. Do send in more questions. We’re back after a short break”
—-
Nadotheman: oiii glitter after party at our house!!! Bring your families and babies. Pets welcome too!!!
Blizzard: this is not another surprise party for your cat right?
RussianGod: it was anniversary for first month very important say so in lily baby book.
Prongstar: are you using our baby books to raise a cat?
KrisVolley: that explains a lot. They send me weekly updates. Do you have a baby book for her too?
Timmyforrealz: of course, I’ve seen it. You know they have a photographer every month. They do parties for her every anniversary and they went through an agency to get a cat sitter
Ollibear: it’s cute. Though I don’t need the daily updates on her mice eating skills
Nadotheman: she’s so talented! How’re you not impressed? She hunted and killed it herself... you don’t complain when we have some stupid kid party. You all breed like fucking rabbits... baby showers, christenings, birthdays ahhhh... so many babies... we get to celebrate our cat too...
Prongstar: did you steal my baby book? To raise a cat. That’s weird
Nadotheman: calm down she’s a kitty and we didn’t know how to raise her. At least my baby sleeps through the night.
Prongstar: don’t compare a kitten to my baby.
CarbO’Hara: hahahahaha poor James. His kid being upstaged by a spoilt kitten.
RussianGod: she’s not spoilt. She got good parents
Sergei_81: you are weird. Baby cat is not baby human.
Talkiewalkie: I did enjoy the circle of life themed cat name giving party. The snacks were really good!
DumoDad: celeste, Anya and linnea want to know if there’s going to be anything x-rated? Otherwise we’re all not going.
Nadotheman: that was one time and I had no idea she was a stripper
LeWilliam: how do you accidentally order a stripper?
Prongstar: it’s Nado. I wouldn’t put it past him. He did accidentally adopt a penguin in Pittsburgh and he’s joined like three pyramid schemes?
Ollibear: that’s why he’s got an accountant now 😂 that is one of the best memories of my life, when Nado’s mom came and yelled 😂😂😂
Siriusly: I spent $150 on a stupid cat present and she spent the rest of the evening playing with the box it came in... she’s definitely your cat...
RussianGod: best cat best cat parents best after party stop whiny
Logantremblayzzz: we’re in!!! Is the jacuzzi on?
Nadotheman: you’re not doing sex stuff in our jacuzzi
Newt-leo: we’ve all seen the photos of you doing it though. Little hypocritical
Nadotheman: well stupid drone stalking me.
Sergei_81: we bring vodka. And babies. They want play street hockey? Is March. They crazy
Talkiewalkie: oh I’m in for street hockey!! Also does that explain the amount of dick pics we’ve received?
Nadotheman: what happens on Snapchat stays on Snapchat... you’re all dirty voyeurs...
Ollibear: thought you promised to keep this pg-13?
DumoDad: that’s the pArty not the chat. I don’t think we’ve exhausted the topic of nado’s general sluttiness
Nadotheman: oi. I’m not a slut I’m sexually expressive and ya lot is all just jealous.
Nadotheman: also no one is chasing kuny? He’s dating around as much as me and he’s also sent dick pics
Blizzard: the difference is that Kuny is always naked or semi naked and well we’ve all seen his. And most of his bragging is in Russian anyways
Sunnysideup: hah if you understood you’d be ashamed. And also want to lock up your daughters.😂😂😂
RussianGod: is the accent. They all think they fix me hehe
Prongstar: I’m not even missing being single at all 😳
Blizzard: me neither 😜
Nadotheman: you’ve got Nat. I think you’ve won. Hands down. Your wives are all cool but Nat.... damnnnn 🙏🏻

Highlights of my virtual meet and greet
Yes I actually did end up getting the virtual meet and greet package and predictably I was so nervous my voice even cracked a bit lmao
Anyway thanks to there being a video I can gather details that happened but I missed due to being too nervous
-FunnyMan instantly said my first name and complimented my glasses and thought they looked nice on my face and I already was this 👌 close to flipping out
-I actually forgot to tell HU my name when I first met them in 2017 because I was so starstruck I forgot so hearing them say my actual name was surreal to me
-J-Dog stared at his camera before going “what’s up”
-Charlie had one of his sons on his lap lmao
-J-Dog ended up asking “have we met before?” And “have we met you before?”
-Idk why I hesitated the first time he asked but I said yes. I mentioned in 2017 J-Dog went “where?” and Johnny went “I remember” looking off to his right (I think it’s his right)
-J-Dog went “your voice sounds familiar” which surprised me a lot that my voice even sounded familiar
-I gave them the specific date of when I met them. My voice ended up cracking when I said “you guys”. J-Dog went “in Canada?” A lot of them started to pull that thinking face
-They all actually got the venue wrong lmao but I didn’t correct them oops
-I legit once went “I- I- I-“ in the virtual meet and greet
-thanks to me it went a little awkward so I instantly showed them the guitar pick Johnny gave me back in 2017
-Charlie asked “that’s cool, who gave you that? You can ask J-Dog. He’s done everything”. J-Dog laughed
-I went “Johnny. Johnny actually gave me this.” Charlie goes “oh Johnny” *laughing*. Johnny went “yea. See? I’m friendly”
-I think Danny said we should take a picture then Charlie affirmed that
-We take the pic
-After the photo J-Dog went “did Johnny use that onstage? Did it look like he knew what he was doing?” But unfortunately I could not understand what he said due to audio distortion
-Johnny laughed and so did Funny Danny and Charlie. I think Johnny remarked “you sons of b-es”
-J-Dog repeated what he said about the guitar pick and I ended up going “I don’t know” because I still couldn’t hear him lmao
-J-Dog randomly bit on his sweater string thing
-Johnny also went “I don’t either”
-I went “I- I’ve been listening to you guys since I was 13. And I’m 18 now” and man I can really hear my voice shake saying that
-Funny went “nice”
-I swear to frick that Charlie said “pogchamp” like I’m not kidding
-Danny went “wow thank you for the dedication and support”
-Johnny also went “hey thank you for your dedication that’s awesome!”
-Funny remarked something but it was distorted again and the only thing I could make out was “yea(…) real”
-of course I awkwardly go “you’re- you’re welcome” while swiping my own hair out of the way
-I think Funny said “you’ve been going FOREVER. F O R E V E R”
-Danny put two thumbs up and said “we love you so much Z thank you so much bye” (covering my actual name)
-Danny also said “happy new year!”
-I think J-Dog said “alright Z bye” with his hands in the air
-I think Charlie simply said “happy new year!”
-Johnny went “Love you Z” and as you can tell I later FLIPPED REALIZING THIS
-I went “I love you guys too”
-Funny said “have a good one! Keep it classy” but he got cut off when he said classy
-I simply said “thanks you too”
Honestly I don’t even mind the meet and greet was 2 minutes because not only that already was the original time for in person meet and greets but I’m so awkward and shy lmao. I’m also surprised I luckily didn’t cry during it
But anyway I’m pretty happy and I’m still awestricken about what happened

Walker- 1x01 ~spoilers~
AIGHT FINALLY DOING THIS BC I HAVE THE TIME. I KNOW THE EPISODE CAME OUT LIKE A WEEK AGO AND THE NEW EPISODE IS COMING OUT IN LIKE A WHILE(VERY EXCITED ABOUT!!!) AND I WATCHED THE EP THE DAY IT CAME OUT BUT I WAS BUSY DON’T @ ME.
Anyways, this isn’t like some very analytical meta of the episode, this is just me showing my love and support for it, my favorite parts, what I’m excited for and all and like a speculation of what might happen next based on the stills we’ve seen since there’s no promo :( Let’s get on to it!
~spoilers! last warning!~
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I had such high hopes and Walker and Jared Padalecki did not disappoint! Obviously!
The beginning scene between Cordell and Emily was so cute! Ugh made her death all the harder :’(. THAT PHONE CALL SJSSJDJHDFD AND CORDELL’S SCREAM NO.
Micki and Cordell’s first scene! Love! I SHIP THEM SM ALREADY DO YOU SEE ME FALLING DOWN ANOTHER RABBIT HOLE. YES. YES YOU DO. Also drunk!Cordell is the best idc idc.
I love Cordell’s parents sm ok. His mother especially. And Cordell’s kids. YES AUGUST YES STELLA. THEY JUST WANT LOVE IMMA SHOWER EM WITH ALL OF IT. Cordell and his brother’s reunion! FEELS SO MANY FEELS. AND HIS SON TOO! KSJDKJS DYING.
WALKER GETTING READY, JOGGING, THAT SCENE WITH THE BEHIND CAP AND THE COWBOY HAT OH MY. I THINK I DIED AND WENT TO SO INCREDIBLY SEXY JARED HEAVEN!
Stella getting arrested~ # we are rebellious kids wtf are you gonna do about it.  Cordell being a total dad yes we stan. OK ALRIGHT IK HE IS A PROBLEMATIC DAD GO AWAY. John vibes(sort of?) anyone???
I love that Cordell is trying though! More angst and family drama skksksksk sign me the fuck up.
MICKI RAMIREZ IS A QUEEN I WILL HEAR NO MORE. The way she says her last name GOD. i don’t think im straight... ANYWAYS SHE IS SUCH A BADASS AWESOME QUEEN?? LIKE WOMAN MARRY ME. OR CORDELL. :)
That little crime and case thrown in between was cute. Gave me supernatural monster of the week vibes :) I liked it ALSO DAMN HEROIN IN THE CROSS. *SPRAYS HOLY WATER ON MILO* THE WAY CORDIREZ FOUGHT THEM ALL OF THOUGH!! YES!!! GO CORDIREZ. And the way I screamed ‘Walker’ when the gun was pulled on him. jsdksdsjds obviously I love him already. And yes I do. He isn’t without his fair share of issues but I love Cordell Walker already and am so excited to see more of Walker(NEW EP TOMORROW!!! in my timezone anyways)
Also the scene with Trey, Micki, and Cordell was yes! Cordell annoying his partner to oblivion, we are here for their banter(IT FEELS SO WEIRD TO SHIP A HET SHIP AFTER WINCEST AND J2 AND MERTHUR AND OTHERS FOR SO LONG) Anyways Cordirez forever. The way I ship them so much even though I know that Cordell is still grieving Emily and Micki is in a relationship! Ha! Ship troubles! I’m! fine! They are going to be such a slowburn, I just know it.
Cordell and Stella scenes made me tear up :( I am already in love with this father-daughter dynamic and cannot wait to see more! Hope they shine some light on August too!
WHY IS LIAM SO SUS? LIKE I LIKE LIAM A LOT OKAY BUT WHY DO I FEEL LIKE HE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH EMILY??? W H Y. He’s just like a little desperate to make sure Cordell doesn’t investigate anything Emily related. IDK JUST- DSKFJKDSF
OH! GERI AND CORDELL!!! Friendship??? Old flame??? THE WAY SHE WATCHED HIM LEAVE I COULD SMELL THE PINING TILL HERE. They’re cute honestly(why do I ship Walker with everyone isjdksj) That dancing scene was EVERYTHING! MORE DANCING!WALKER. PLEASE JARED.
The last scene made me tear up and I wanted to sob. OH CROWN TATTOO! no im not crying stfu. August and Walker :’). Yes. I’m so glad tat Walker denied the job. FIX YOUR FAMILY DJKDJFDJ.
Other thoughts:- OK LOOK I KNOW JARED WAS AN EPIC ACTOR BUT??? LIKE??? SO GOOD???? HOW DID HE PLAY EACH AND EVERY DYNAMIC SO PERFECTLY??? JARED PADAELCKI YOU ARE AMAZING. How is Walker(I’m officially calling him Walker now bye) nothing like Sam??? Except for the grieving life partners(Carry On anyone???). And already I love this so much! Badassery, awesome characters, beautiful dynamics, a very talented executive producer, and a really epic director/camera person. Some of those angles were really pretty :) Also Liam and Walker’s boss is sus. I’m calling it. Thank me later. aLSO. Honestly it was very hard to like not see Sam in those first few minutes, but Jared really pulled it off and Walker bled through! And also I missed Jensen. iT IS SO WEIRD AND DIFFICULT! TO SEE JARED WITHOUT JARED! NO ONE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE THIS HARD.
Speculation/Thoughts for Episode 2:- I LOVE THE CAR ALREADY. RED FORD MUSTANG YES BABY YES. Also Hoyt? He is for sure like a bad guy or the doer of whatever crime happens in this episode. FRIENDS COMING BACK FROM LONG AGO ALWAYS ARE OK IDC. HOYT IS SUS. Are we getting the Walker pulling Micki off of a horse scene? YES HONEY YES. MORE CORDIREZ! And Stella and Walker scenes! And flashbacks angst for sure :(
Anyways I’m hyped! Can’t wait!

Notice Me!~Kim Junmyeon/Suho x Black! R&B Star! Fem! Reader {2}
Tumblr media
Previous Parts: 1  2 3
Pairing: Suho x reader
Summary: With your support sent out to EXO as a fan and a potential collaborator, you awaken to a massive wave of support from your fans, along with fellow EXOls. However, a vocal majority of them aren’t too keen about you working with their bias band. All of this anxiety comes to a head as your supports push you towards the idea of a collaboration, including Suho himself.
Warnings: Toxic fans, racist comments and negative thoughts.
Writer’s Note: Here’s chapter 2, I hope you guys enjoy and let me know if you want any more EXO fics/series, requests are open! I also want to add that this is purely fictional, I don’t know Halsey (Ashley) personally, so if she acts a little odd I’m sorry. And another thing about this fic and others I write, the Kpop idols speak English, since I don’t want to butcher any translations or Korean words, since I do not speak the language. Maybe in the future, but not now! Thanks!
Word Count: 1, 583
I could hardly sleep at the sound of my phone buzzing like a madman. Of course the sun peaking through my blinds didn’t help, along with Ashley’s bed hogging ass. Next time I’m taking the couch instead of sharing my bed, jeez.
I shift over on my back to reach for my phone, it comes to life at my slight touch and overwhelms me with so many notifications I almost tumble from the bed.
“Mmh,” Ashley groans, “quit moving.”
She kicks my foot softly, but I don’t react at all, most of my attention is on my phone.
My Twitter bell icon stays red with a swarm of notifications, messages, likes and retweets. I’m trending, right underneath with EXO and of course BTS.
“Uh, Ash, look! Look!”
I nudge her a few times before she rolls over with hair stuck to her cheek and a scowl.
“Y/N, I-I need at least one more hou—”
“Look!” I scold.
We both stay captivated by the tiny screen as Ashley’s finger scrolls down some of the comments.
They read:
Um, SM we need a Empress Dee Dee/ EXO collab, stat!
Aw, Junmyeon was soo cute, I lowkey ship it!
Finally a Kpop band reaching out for a black artist, I wish someone would follow through too *cough, cough BTS
“Holy shit,” Ashley says, “they really love this idea, did your publicist call you about it yet? Y/N?”
Her voice is drowned out as more of the comments turn sour.
A lot of them read:
Western Artist X Kpop Artist= trash
Black people should stay with their own music, it wouldn’t mix with EXO’s sound
Gross, please don’t tell me Junmyeon has a thing for that black girl, why not a Korean woman?
They continue to flood my feed, most of them turning more daunting than the rest.
“Ok, enough Twitter for one morning,” Ashley says as she takes the phone.
“You’re right,” I say, “I need some more sleep.”
Ashley frowns as I lay back against my pillow and yank the covers up and over my face.
“Y/N, come on,” Ashley groans, “you seriously gonna let these assholes get under your skin?”
I nod against the sheets.
“Half of them are right Ash,” I say, “why would any of EXO collab with me? There are many other Kpop artists who are better anyway.”
“Um, but none of them are Empress Dee Dee, are they?” Ashley asks.
I shrug.
“They aren’t black though, Ash,” I note.
Ashley gives me an incredulous look.
“That’s got nothing to do with it,” Ashley growls.
Her words strike an unexpected nerve within me as I push the covers away and sit back up.
“Nothing?! “ I snap, “Ash, it’s everything to do with it! Racism still exists, even more prevalent now, especially with colorism still at an all time high!”
Ashley frowns.
“But I-”
I put a hand on Ashley’s own, the stark contrast of my brown skin and her pale one.
“I know, I know who are Ashley, but it’s different for women like me, and darker skinned black women,” I say, “I just need you to understand that, please.”
Ashley nods.
“I do,” she says, “but I need you to understand that it shouldn’t stop you! Don’t listen to what those assholes are saying!”
“Ash—”
“You love music, don’t you?” she asks.
Her question throws me off, yet I nod anyway.
“Of course I do,” I say.
“Then focus on making music, talk to your publicist and agent about that EXO collab!” she declares.
I watch Ashley in half awe, half amusement as she tosses the sheets onto the floor like the drama queen she’s being. Maybe she should shoot for the Academy Awards rather than Grammys next year.
“You know you gotta pick that up right,” I deadpan while gesturing to the splayed mess of covers below us on the floor.
Ashley turns her nose up, but softens as she comes around to my side of the bed, sitting next to me and taking my hand.
“Don’t worry about the fucking bed spread and listen to me,” she says.
I stare at her eyes, there’s this hint of desperation in them, as if I was the one who insulted her. Maybe I was a bit too much in my feelings. She cares about my wellbeing so much that I forget this affects her as well.
“Promise me that you’ll stay all right through all of this,” she says, gripping my hand skin tight.
I think of another comeback but save it for later.
“I promise Ash,” I vow, “now can you pick up the damn covers?”
Ashley frowns but rises to gather up the covers anyway.
“There. I’m doing it, now could you please call your publicist?”
A heavy sigh escapes my lips as I reach for my phone on the nightstand. More notifications flood, a few missed calls from Daphne, my publicist and Todd, my agent. Great, now I have to deal with them.
“I’m calling them back now, Ash,” I announce.
“Awesome,” she calls from the bathroom.
I decide to go with Todd first, since he left the most missed calls. My heart beats heart against the insistent ring of the phone, it drawing out a bit longer than it usually should.
“Hello, Y/N!” Todd calls.
I gulp before speaking.
“Hi Todd, look I-I know I should have contacted Daph first about posting that tweet.”
Todd chuckles through the phone.
“Y/N, that was a genius move! It seemed really genuine!” he exclaims.
I frown.
“Uh, I was completely genuine Todd, my heart was one hundred percent into it,” I say.
“Oh, well that makes it even better, because I’ve already got in contact with the producers on the Ellen Show, and since EXO will be there promoting Obsession, we can finally have you both in talks for a collaboration!”
My stomach nearly drops. It’s exciting news, right? Getting to meet my bias band in front of me instead of a tiny computer screen, yet the circumstances got me worried. In front of all those people. Some of them could be any of those people spouting out hateful comments.
“Er, Y/N,” Todd says, “you heard me, right?”
“I-I u-uh yeah!” I say, “j-just uh, fan girl nerves is all.”
Todd chuckles, but gets back to business as usual.
“No need to worry, it’s all scripted and Ellen has a way of making people calm, especially new guests,” he explains, “but this will really put you on the map! Considering you haven’t made a public appearance since your grammy snub and you’re gonna do it with one of the biggest kpop groups, ever! Don’t let those fangirl nerves get to you too much!”
I manage to cough up a tiny giggle.
“Of course Todd, thank you.”
“Already have a flight set up for you in the morning, I told you that you’d skyrocket soon, didn’t I?” he asks.
I roll my eyes but agree anyway.
“I know Todd, bye.”
“Get plenty of sleep, call me when you get there!” he urges before hanging up.
WIth him off the phone I can finally freak out in peace. Well until Ashley returns with her toothbrush a nosy look on her face.
“Shit, by that face I’m assuming it didn’t go well, did it?” she asks.
I shake my head and collapse backwards against the sheets.
“I-It went unexpectedly well,” I admit, “EXO’s gonna be on Ellen for the first time, and I got a spot on there with them.”
Ashley nearly jumps into the ceiling.
“Are you fucking serious?!” she exclaims, “it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet!”
I nod against my pillow.
“Right! God, I-I’m not ready for this,” I groan.
Ashley shifts closer to wrap an arm around my shoulder.
“You got this sweetie,” she whispers, “I’m gonna take the shower first, that cool with you?”
I nod as she rises.
“Oh and stay off Twitter,” she says as she goes back to the bathroom.
Of course I don’t listen as I unlock my phone yet again. My eyes scan through all of the comments: good, bad, ugly and downright unnecessary. My finger stops at a previous V Live EXO recently did, or a clip at least.
The caption of the video read:
Ya’ll Junmyeon is really out here caring about DeeDee, like a lot! When he gonna pull up 😂😂
I click it and there’s Suho, Baekhyun and Chen with soft looks, unlike the way they looked during their X-EXO concept stage. Beakhyun leans closer to the camera, scanning the comments I assume as Suho frowns.
“Of course not!” Suho growls, “why would anyone say that?”
“What is it hyung?” Chen asks.
Suho points at the screen.
“Someone said that we thought DeeDee was ugly, why would you insult a beautiful woman like that?” he asks in disgust.
My breath gets hitched in my throat at his words.
Baekhyun frowns this time.
“Aw, why are people making fun of DeeDee?” he groans, “don’t listen to them DeeDee! Stay strong! Keep smiling!!”
Chen nods sharply as Baekhyun continues to yell it obnoxiously.
Suho pushes him until he ceases and looks into the camera intensely.
“The people who are saying this aren’t our fans, DeeDee,” he explains, “you’re amazing, stay all right, ok? Ok!”
Suho grins as he puts up his finger hearts as his smile widens.
The video ends, yet it doesn’t within my head. EXO actually stood up for me. This has got to be a dream.

Mephistopheles of Los Angeles - Marilyn Manson x Reader (Part III)
Synopsis: There’s no way you can go public about your involvement with Marilyn, but yours and Johnny’s premiere is tonight. You’d better figure out how to handle this ‘torrid affair’, and fast.
PART I
PART II
Tumblr media
This isn’t your first premiere, but the flashing lights and screaming fans are a tad surprising at first. Thankfully, you know how to handle yourself. Your strapless, form-fitting burgundy Givenchy dress accentuates everything you (and the general public) love about your body, with a simple diamond choker underneath your tied up hair completing the look. Your eyes are smoky rimmed with charcoal, because you borrowed Marilyn’s eyeliner this morning. Yeah. You did that.
“This should be fun,” you sigh, beaming and waving out the window as you and Johnny arrive in the limo. You both get out, posing, smiling, greeting. “Why’d the story have to break before tonight?”
“Why’d you have to make out with Manson in the bloody bushes?” he volleys back in amusement, giving a wave and a smoulder to a gaggle of fans screaming his name.
“Technically this is your fault,” you smirk, turning back to flash one last smile behind you before walking the carpet, “You introduced him to me.”
“And forgot to warn you about his deadly charm?”
“Exactly. Good god, Depp, he is magnificent in bed, you could’ve fucking warned me!”
“You never asked,” he teases.
“(y/n)! (y/n)!” A lady in the line up of reporters by the carpet barricades calls, waving you over. “Lisa Waters, Entertainment Tonight!”
“Have fun in hell darling,” Johnny whispers, chuckles, and disappears behind you to get more photos taken.
“And he’s gone!” you say dramatically, waving after him with silent embitterment. The reporter jams a microphone in your face, as she stares after Johnny.
“People are speculating all over the place about you two!”
Here we go.
“I can say, definitively, speaking for myself and Johnny, we are not involved, and never plan to be.”
“So you don’t get along as well as it seems like you do?”
“I didn’t say that. Johnny and I got very close during shooting–”
“Very close?”
“Yes, we became very good friends.”
Since she isn’t getting what she wants out of you with this line of questioning, the reporter sets her jaw and switches tactics. “There’s also been fresh rumours of you and goth rock star Marilyn Manson swirling. Any comment on your budding romance?”
You laugh, keeping the butterflies in your stomach at bay. “Even if I did have anything going with Marilyn, it would not be best described as a budding romance.”
“But TMZ released photos of the two of you kissing in the bushes outside Chateau Marmont just this past weekend!”
“Honestly, Linda–”
“Lisa.”
“Yeah, honestly I don’t remember that night, but I’m sure it was just a good-bye kiss. I was probably too drunk to stick around, he was seeing me off. You know how it–”
“But it looks like you’re groping each other!”
“Well, Marilyn likes to get friendly. So do I.”
With a sardonic little smile, you end the rest of her interrogation, and move on to the next news caster before she can continue drilling you. You shoot Johnny a “help me” glance, but he just cringes, making it clear that relationship concealment is 100% not his forte.
The rest of the night consists of questions not unlike those, and you continue to answer them until another stretch pulls up.
Marilyn gets out.
You instantly look over at Johnny. Johnny shrugs. “I invited him,” he mouths, and you sigh, already feeling yourself get warm. Even if he wasn’t on the guest list, nobody was about to throw Marilyn Manson out, so they let him in. Marilyn gives a salute to the cameras in those black leather fingerless gloves, and meets your eye. He smirks your way, and you feel your cheeks heat up, recalling all the stuff you two had gotten up to last night. He corrects his smirk, straightening his face again and posing.
“Can you tell us anything about your fling with shock rocker Marilyn Manson?” a male reporter asks you, another three microphones in your face.
“Only that it didn’t happen,” you reply coolly, picturing how he fingered you until you screamed last night.
“Really? Because–”
“Didn’t happen,” you reiterate, and slip into the crowd of cast, executives, and critics moving inside the theatre. Marilyn stops by one reporter who seems insistent.
“Hello,” he mumbles, keeping his head low and sunglasses on.
“Hey, having a good night so far, Marilyn?”
“It’s been good for the five minutes I’ve been here, yeah.”
Missing his sarcasm, the overzealous reporter beams. “Awesome! Great to see you here celebrating your friend, so soon after being out in Europe on tour!”
“Yeah, I always try to come out for Johnny’s movies, I think to give him moral support,” Marilyn smirks, “Cause without me around, we all know he would just be a wreck. Completely depressed, unable to function.”
“Right,” the reporter nods artificially, oblivious as to how to handle Marilyn’s interviewing style. “Anyway, are you really here for Johnny?”
“Explain.” He doesn’t lose his footing, but he’s caught off guard.
“Are you here for (y/n), your latest lover?” Marilyn smiles at her.
“Where do you get your facts?”
“Those photos are serious evidence that–”
“Evidence, you make it seem like a crime scene, like she’s a murder victim of mine.” Now he’s deliberately screwing with the reporter, and she looks a little frightened.
“Right. Can you confirm you are dating (y/n) (y/l/n)?”
“We’re just friends,” he insists, thinking of the way your back arched last night as he ate you out.
“But the k–”
“It was just a kiss,” he shakes his head, “I kiss lots of people. I kiss my cat. I kiss Johnny. I’ve kissed Obama.”
“Do you consider yourself a romantic?”
“Not with (y/n). I’ve gotta go get my seat inside, before Benicio Del Toro tells them I’m not on the guest list.”
“…You have a good night, then.”
“You as well.”
Indoors, you sit down in your seat beside your cast members, and see Marilyn coming in, undoing the bottom button on his black tux and looking for a seat. You try to put your mind somewhere else to watch your work.
The film starts about a half hour later and plays your brilliantly fake sex scene with Johnny (the codpiece riding one). However, despite the hilarious memories shooting this scene conjures up for you, you can’t take your mind off of Marilyn. He’s unlike anyone you ever dated. He’s open, at least with you; he’s calm, funny, sexy as hell… fuck, he was so good last night, and you want more. You want so much fucking more.
-
After the movie gets out, you prepare to do a few more interviews before the night is over. At this point, you’re high on life, feeling good, and feeling dangerous with Marilyn so close to you. Really… what would be the harm in…?
“Congratulations on the film (y/n), you and Mr. Depp were wonderful,” one man from Starz says, walking briskly alongside you. Marilyn purses his lips on the other side of Johnny as you three walk from the Chinese Theatre toward the limos.
“Thank you, we had such an amazing time filming it,” you reply.
“And, eh…” the man hesitates, “Quick question before we lose you here. You’ve discounted all rumours of you and Mr. Depp dating as false. Are you and Mr. Manson involved?” You sigh.
Fuck it. Like Johnny said– tomorrow’s for damage control. Tonight’s for living.
“Hell yeah we’re involved,” you grin, and Johnny holds in a burst of laughter, expression a mix of astonishment and pride. Marilyn jerks his head over, and a small smile tugs at his painted lips.
“We’re dating?” he smirks, crossing over to stand beside you. “I wish you would’ve told me.” With that, he dips you low into a kiss, and sticks a tattooed middle finger into the lens of the guy’s camera.

The One Where Chandler and Joey Come Out
Reposting because I accidently deleted it when pressing the wrong button and also because I’m petty want to make it show up on an idiot’s dash again. -Freddie
Tumblr media
“No.”
“Chan, come on. It’s been almost four months, we should tell them sooner than later,” Joey tried to persuade his boyfriend.
“No. No. No. Joey, I love you, but I can’t tell. Not yet.”
“And why not, huh?” Joey tossed the spoon in his into the empty tomato sauce can.
“I can admit to you that I’m like my dad. I can do that. But telling everyone else that I’m like him-” Chandler’s face lost all colour when what he said sunk in. “I-I’m not ashamed of being with you, I promise.”
“I knew what you meant,” Joey dismissed. “Look, I’m still trying to get used to this ‘bisexual’ idea, alright? It’s weird. I didn’t know you could like both but here I am.” Joey added a little bit of salt to the noodles he had on the stove. “I just feel like we should tell the guys. They tell us everything.”
Chandler sighed from where he sat on the other side of the kitchen and burrowed his hands in his hair. “We have to do this, don’t we?”
“They’d appreciate it.” Joey nodded.
Chandler didn’t move for a little bit, his mind racing with what their reactions might be. Ross bordered on homophobic because of Carol and Susan. Monica, personally, wouldn't mind and he knew that if Ross stopped hanging out with Joey and him then so would Monica and there goes Rachel. The only one that he thought wouldn’t care at all- even support them- was Phoebe.
Chandler was pulled from his racing thoughts by Joey gently kissing his lips. “You okay in there?” Joey asked, tilting his head slightly.
“That’s yet to be decided.” Chandler sighed again and leaned forward slightly so their foreheads touched, his blue-green eyes looking into Joey’s chocolate ones. “You really think we should tell them?”
“I really think we should tell ‘em.”
“Then we’ll tell them.”
***
“Anything planned for tonight?” Rachel asked the group.
“Not really.” “My date cancelled.” “No.” Came the scattered answers of Ross, Monica, and Phoebe.
“Well, we’ve gotta do something; I don’t work tonight.”
Chandler and Joey looked at each other and Joey nodded. Chandler adjusted how he was sitting on the armrest of the chair Joey occupied and tightly held his boyfriend’s hand behind his back. “Uh-” he cleared his throat, “Joey and I got something we can do.”
“Yeah?” Phoebe asked with a slowly growing smile, getting a feeling for what was about to happen. “What’s that?”
“There’s something we should tell you guys and we’ve been tossing the idea around for a couple days, actually.”
“Oh god, one of you is moving!” Phoebe clasped her hands over her mouth in mock shock. She wasn’t as dumb as they all thought and she’d known about the two since before they themselves did.
“No, no, we ain’t moving.” Joey dismissed.
“So, you guys know how everyone thinks I’m gay because I have that certain ‘quality’ to me?” Chandler asked. He got a scattered and murmured answer of yes. “Well, I don’t know about the ‘quality’ but they’re not wrong on the gay part.” He cast his eyes down, scared of their reactions.
“Wait, so you’re really gay?” Rachel asked.
“Well he’d have to be to do half the stuff we’ve done,” Joey spoke up.
The group stared at them in shock. “You’re both gay?” Ross asked. Chandler stiffened, preparing himself.
“I am...Joey’s bi.”
“What?”
“Bi, ya know?” Joey went on. “Bisexual. I’m into girls and guys?”
“So you two are going out?” Monica asked, still processing.
“Yeah…” Chandler was still waiting for someone to blow up- mainly Ross- and compare him to his father.
“That’s awesome!” Phoebe clapped. “How long have you two been together?”
“Almost four months,” Chandler said slowly.
“Wait.” “Why didn’t you tell us?” Monica and Rachel spoke together.
“Well, we didn’t know how you were guys were going to react,” Joey said. “We’ve been debating tellin’ you guys since our one month but we were sorta on edge.”
“Why?” Monica asked. “It’s just us.”
“Yeah, but two dudes together ain’t exactly the norm,” Joey went on.
“You know we weren’t going to be upset.” Monica smiled kindly, putting a hand on each of their knees to bring them some sort of comfort. “In fact, I’m going to make Chandler’s favorite dinner and Joey’s favorite dessert to celebrate.”
Ross had yet to say anything and was still staring at the floor. Chandler was starting to get antsy at his friend’s silence and Joey noticed. “Chan?” he whispered under Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe’s excited chatter. “You okay?”
“What? Yeah.”
“What’s going on?”
“I don’t know yet. I’m still trying to judge that.” Chandler spoke. He was waiting for Ross to do something. “Damn I could use a smoke right now.”
“No, no. Ya don’t need a smoke.” Joey gently ran his hand through Chandler’s hair and smiled lightly when his boyfriend tilted his head into the touch. “Wanna take a walk? Go around a block or two so you can get some air?”
Chandler considered. “That sounds nice. We can pick up something for dinner so it’s useful.”
“We can do that. Sure.” Joey turned a bit on looked into the kitchen where Monica was already working on the lasagna. “Hey Mon?”
“What’s up?”
“Do you need anything from the store? Chandler and me can go get it.”
“Uh...I’m working on the sauce right now...uh… Oh! I don’t have cottage cheese. You sure you guys are okay getting it?”
“Yeah. We’re big boys now, Mon,” Chandler piped up with his usual defensive humor.
“Alright, well thank you.”
“Not a problem.” Joey smiled as he and Chandler stood up from their chair. “We’ll be back in fif-” Chandler shook his head a little and mouthed twenty. -”twenty minutes.”
“See you guys.” “Bye.” Came the voices of Phoebe and Rachel. The boys waved over their shoulders as they walked out the door holding hands. Chandler closed the door behind him and the second the door was closed Rachel whacked the back of Ross’s head.
“What was that for?” he asked.
“Why haven’t you said anything? You’re scaring the hell out of Chandler.” Rachel folded her arms across her chest as she looked at the black haired doctor.
“Well I’m sorry if I’m a little uneasy with two of my best friends coming out as gay right after my ex-wife gets married to her lesbian lover,” Ross retorted.
“Well you should be.” Phoebe agreed with Rachel. “It took a lot of courage for them to tell us and then you go and act like this. They’re trusting us with a very important part of themselves.”
“Yeah. Besides, I think it’s sweet. I mean, how did we never notice it before?” Monica asked from where she was stirring a pot of tomato sauce on the stove. “They’re always hanging off each other or touching each other in some way.”
“Joey kissed Chandler on New Years two years in a row,” Phoebe added.
“Chandler blowing through girlfriends like a little kid with bubbles.” Rachel added. “He even stopped trying to correct us when we teased him about the whole quality thing.”
“You guys have never heard them doing anything?” Ross asked.
“No.” Monica said simply. “I just- they’re two of our closest friends. How could we have missed this?”
“Well, it’s not exactly in the norm yet.” Phoebe said. “Girls can be all cuddly with each other; you and Ross get cuddly; I just thought they were being friends.”
***
“He hates me.” Chandler said as he walked side by side with Joey still holding hands. “We never should have said anything.”
“Hey, hey. He doesn’t hate you, he’s just Ross. He’ll come around,” Joey promised. “Don’t worry so much, Chan.”
“I-I- we shouldn’t have said anything a month after his ex-wife gets married to a woman. We the hell were thinking?” Chandler ran his free hand through his hair.
“Remember what Ross told Carol when she an’ Susan almost called off their wedding? We didn’t tell ‘em for them. We told ‘em for us. We’re gonna be happy together whether or not Ross is happy for us, m’kay? And hey, I hate to say it- actually, I don’t. If Ross stops hangin’ out with us because we’re together then he’s not who I thought he was and I think we’d be better off without ‘im.” Joey finished his rant and brought their hands to his mouth, kissing their intertwined knuckles. “I love you, Chandler. And I ain’t gonna stop lovin’ you for anyone.”
“I love you too, Joey.” Chandler pecked his cheek.
***
“We’re back.” Chandler announced as he opened the door, feeling much better about things than he was before.
“Hey uh, guys...” Ross stood from where he was sitting at the kitchen table and tried to quickly word things in his mind before speaking them aloud. “I wanted to say I’m sorry for earlier. I just...I wasn’t expecting this and I shouldn’t have been so aloof with it. I want you guys to know that I don’t care that you guys are- I mean- I uh, I do care. I just- I’m not upset that you two are together. I promise. I just have to get used the fact that Carol and Susan aren’t the only gay people in the world and that anyone can be gay.”
Chandler was beaming by the time Ross stopped talking. He gave Ross a tight hug and Ross wasted no time in returning it. “It means a lot to hear that. I know we could have picked a better time, with Carol and Susan getting married and all-”
“No, no. This is on me, not on you guys. Rach had a good point. I shouldn’t be supporting my ex-wife but leaving my friends out to hang. She’s right and I was right when I told Carol that what other people think of your relationship doesn't matter. You aren’t together for them, you’re together for each other.”
“Anyway,” Phoebe jumped in, “how did you know you were gay?”
“I uh...I was in denial for a long time,” Chandler said. “I guess I’ve known since high school, I just didn’t want to admit it…”
“Remember two years ago when I kissed Chandler on New Years?” Joey got a chorus of conformations. “Yeah. Since then.”
“So… does the sex feel different?” Ross asked slowly.
“Depends on the act, I guess…” Chandler shrugged.
“Like, if ya goin’ in, it ain’t too different,” Joey started. Chandler was already red faced and hiding his face against Joey’s shoulder blade. “But the hand stuff is waaay better ‘cause ya both actually know what you’re doin’.”
“Oh, that makes sense.” Phoebe nodded.
“Can we please discuss anything el-”
“So who’s on top? How does that work?” Rachel asked. “‘Cause Chandler’s taller than you, but your personality is more commanding.”
Chandler figured if his face got any more red it melt. “We just go for it.” He muttered.
“We flipped a coin once.” Joey reminded him.
“Have you guys told your families?” Monica asked trying to save Chandler from becoming any more embarrassed.
“My family knows an’ they don’t mind too much.” Joey nodded.
“I haven’t said anything yet,” Chandler said. He traded hiding his face behind Joey to hugging the slightly shorter man from behind. “I don’t really plan to… I mean, if my mom finds out she does but I don’t plan on telling her.”
“But so we’re all good ‘ere?” Joey checked.
“All good.” Phoebe answered for the group.

Emotional support
a/n: thanks to @paopuparfait for letting me borrow their college au. i haven’t had the greatest time this past week, but i’ve been reminded that the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb and it’s comforting.
heres a slice of life fic where a few characters just do their best to cheer you up and give you special treatment
Tumblr media
“Hey—are you okay?” Aqua was probably your most perceptive friend. As soon as she saw you, she knew something was up.
You were doing your best to hide your negative feelings, but obviously, it wasn’t going well. The past few days had been trying and you didn’t want to burden your friends with your pessimism. They were always there for you and it wasn’t fair of you to always dump it on them, so you though to try and hide it this time.
You were trying to bury it deep.
Aqua put her hands your shoulders and gave you a once over, taking in your pursed lips and effort to avoid her gaze. She offered a kind smile and put her arms around you. “It’s okay, you don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to. I’m here for you though, you know?” She moved her hand to take yours. “Wanna get a coffee before class? My treat!”
You wanted to say ‘yes’, but—
You gently pulled your hand away from Aqua. “Sorry. I think I’m just gonna—” You gestured vaguely behind you. “Thanks anyway. I’ll—see you later.” If you spent time around her, you’d want to break down. If you were alone you’d be able to hold it together. Just for today, you’d keep everyone at arm's length.
Aqua watched you walk away, merging into the crowded halls and she frowned. Were you really going to be okay? She hummed before taking out her phone and starting a group message. ‘Hey, do you guys mind? I think a certain someone needs some support today.’
During the lectures, you were out of it. You couldn’t really focus. Emotionally you were fucked, mentally you were wrecked. You had no energy to even try to give the professor at the front any attention. You sat way at the back, hidden by others in front of you and just fucked around on your phone, trying not to cry. Why were you even on campus? Maybe it would better to go home.
Throughout the class, your group chat pinged. It was just the usual shit though; complaints about classes, letting everyone know when they had practice on if anyone wanted to go watch, that sort of thing. There were also some memes being sent that managed to wrangle a few smiles from you. Though you didn’t say anything, you reacted to a few of them.
When the lecture ended you left as soon as possible, ducking out before anyone else. When you turned a corner, you heard someone shout your name. Before you could properly turn around, you were suddenly engulfed in a tight hug. “Hey!” It was Sora beaming down at you. “I was looking for you.”
Oh, he was glowing today. Not that he wasn’t usually like the sun, but Sora’s cheery attitude was in stark contrast to how you were feeling. You didn’t want to bring him down any. “Hey...  Don’t you have class soon?” You asked kind of dismissively.
“We’re always late.” Vanitas droned from somewhere behind Sora. “Open wide.” Something was held in front of your mouth and you were so confused you just obeyed. A soft cookie was gently shoved in and you clamped down on it to hold it in place; your arms were still kind of captive in Sora’s hug.
You couldn’t say anything with a mouth full of cookie, so you just narrowed your eyes at Vanitas. He smirked and ruffled your hair, taking advantage of your helplessness. Then he gave you a casual salute before wandering off, disappearing as suddenly as he showed up. It wasn’t like you never interacted with Vanitas, but it was always so—abrupt.
Sora finally let you go. “You know that was meant to be my cookie.”
You reached up to your mouth, split the baked treat in half and held out the free half. Sora leaned forward so you should put it in his mouth. You hadn’t eaten anything yet, so you were begrudgingly a little happier for it.
“You okay? You’re pretty quiet.” The brunette subtly offered for you to open up if you wanted to. When you didn’t give a response, Sora changed the subject. “You gonna go see Riku’s match today?”
Oh right, the boxing match. You thought of the crowd and the likely presence of Riku’s cheering fans and you cringed. As much as you liked to support the silverette, you really didn’t have the energy to deal with it all. “Um—I might just skip it this time. He’ll be okay without me there.”
“Aw, I don’t know about that.” Sora grinned. “He loves it when you’re there. It gives him an excuse to ham it up.”
You couldn’t help yourself, you scoffed with a roll of your eyes. “Like he needs an excuse.” The sarcastic response was out of your mouth before you could stop it. You quickly pursed your lips. “Don’t tell him I said that.”
Sora was cackling and you smiled for a split second before you became kind of melancholy again. If Sora saw it, he didn’t say anything. “Okay, I gotta run or I’ll really be late.” He gave you a quick hug and kiss on the cheek before dashing down the hall. “Bye!”
Once your radiant friend was out of sight, you felt miserable again. Maybe you’d just skip all your classes for the day. You paced back and forth, being indecisive, before heading towards the library. You’d feel guilty for ditching all your lectures and just going home. Maybe you could get some research done instead?
You were passing by one of the art studios on your way to the other block when someone called out your name. It was Naminé waving you over. When you approached the room, you could see Kairi and Xion inside too. Before you knew it, you were pulled inside.
“Are you ditching too?” Xion asked and threw something in your direction. You just managed to catch it, fumbling with it a few times before getting a grip on it; a small chocolate bar—of course it was. She always had snacks with her. It was likely because she was constantly having to feed her two mooching childhood friends, Roxas and Axel.
“Mm.” You made a non-committal noise in response to Xion’s question and just unwrapped the confectionary to shove into your mouth. If you had something in there, you wouldn’t have to talk.
“I don’t think anyone really wants to be here today.” Kairi wandered over to you and planted a greeting kiss on your cheek. “You’re looking cute. I don’t think I’ve seen you wear that outfit in a while.” The redhead looked up you up and down and beamed. “It’s really nice!”
“Its—it’s my hobo outfit.” You stated bluntly, around a mouthful of chocolate. “What are you on?”
She giggled. “You could dress like a hobo and still look good!” Kairi was always so kind and sweet. You put zero effort into how you looked in the morning, there was no way you could have looked any good. Right? Kairi was the one who always looked good, even if she complained that she was hobo-ing it.
“Here, I made this for you.” Naminé suddenly held something out. It was in a cute little handmade paper bag with your name handwritten in a neat and stylish font. “I hope you like it.” The blond was always self-conscious when it came to her creations, but you were always blown away by her talent. They were so good you had to start offering to pay her for the gifts she randomly gave you because they were so amazing.
“Oh geez.” You reached in to take out an awesome hand decorated phone case. It was totally in your aesthetic style and colours, with little charms and icons of things that you really liked. “Naminé, how much do you want for this?”
She waved a hand with a small blush on her face. “Don’t worry about it! I’m just glad you like it.” Her sweet and earnest smile made your heart flutter with emotion and you gave her a hug which was returned with no hesitation. “I know you already know this, but if you ever need to talk to anyone, we’re here for you.” When you didn’t respond, Naminé took your hands in hers and smiled. “Just keep it in mind, okay?”
Xion and Kairi sounded in agreement. “You can come to us any time! We’re a call away.” The redhead offered.
Your lip quivered and you wanted to open up, but quickly shoved your emotions back again. “Thanks, guys.”
You quickly left after that, the girls giving you a hug and kiss each. Honestly, you felt like you were the luckiest person in the world for having such supportive friends—maybe it was more like you were one big misfit family. You were really down in the dumps and you really appreciated everyone’s support.
Since you weren’t going to watch Riku’s match, you thought to see him to quickly wish him luck and then go home after to sleep off the rest of the day. You changed your phone case on the way to the other building and quickly checked the group chat to see where everyone was at.
Not many people usually went to watch Riku practice. All his fans knew he preferred to focus on his own. However, occasionally some of your friends liked to turn up to cause trouble. You could hear the voices before you entered the gym, but when you walked in there was a cheer.
“Here’s someone who could really give it to ya!” Axel waved you over to the bench. He and Terra were in gym wear, either on their way to their own practices or intending to work out, but choosing to annoy their friend instead.
Terra gestured for you to sit beside him. “Come join us, we’re heckling him so he gets used to the pressure.” He was like an older brother to Riku and while your first impressions of Terra was that he was serious and reserved, after a while you realised he was also a lot of fun.
Meanwhile, Riku seemed out of breath and sweaty from punching the sandbags. When he saw you, he beamed. “Hey.” He ignored the other two, taking off his gloves to pelt them at Axel and Terra who protested. “Don’t you have class?” When you didn’t reply, he raised a brow. “Not feelin’ it?”
You shook your head. “I just came in to say I’ll be missing your match. I’m really not—well, so I’m gonna go home and sleep for the rest of the day.” You felt bad admitting that you’d rather sleep over going to support your friend.
You expected Riku to give you a disappointed look, but he simply reached for a towel nearby to wipe the sweat off his face before planting a kiss on your forehead. “Don’t worry about it, it’s not an important match anyway.” He grinned. “If want to, we can grab dinner later and I can tell you all about my win.”
“Listen to him—so confident.” Terra quickly interjected. “You shouldn’t get such a big head or else it’ll be a massive target during your fight.” The silverette made a comment about how funny it was that Terra was talking about ego, but the brunette brushed it off. Terra instead put an arm around your shoulders as you sat beside him. “Did you need a ride home? I’m gonna leave after we finish annoying Riku.”
You shook your head and leaned on his shoulder. “No. I’ll get home on my own, thanks.” You also knew that Terra lived in the opposite direction to you, so there was no way you’d make him go out of his way.
Terra planted a kiss on your head. “I’m no good at talking, but if you want me to intimidate someone, I can do it.” He offered and you had to laugh. At least he was admitting that he was shitty at talking through issues. Talking was more of an Aqua thing. Terra smiled when he saw you lighten up for a second. He always felt bad when he hovered around you, struggling to find the right thing to say when you were feeling bad. When he got it right, it felt good.
“Wait, I want in on this intimidation thing.” Axel leaned in. “I can offer some firey support. Maybe some ice cream after.” He gave you a mischievous grin with a spark in his eye. To be honest you had no doubt that if you asked for someone to be intimidated, Axel would be all over that shit. You didn’t know too much about Axel’s past, but sometimes when things got rough, you could see something flicker in the jokester's expression. He was sweet to you, but you knew he wasn’t that way to everyone.
“Hang on, is someone bothering you?” Riku asked seriously, just in case. At times, he was definitely the personification of ‘where do they live, I just wanna talk’. He would never butt into anyone’s business for the heck of it, but when a friend needed it, he was there. You couldn’t count the number of times you’ve asked Riku to sit by you to help divert the ill intentions of others; you were very grateful for it.
“You guys are always so eager to fight.” You rolled your eyes. “Not everything can be solved with fists—or fire.” You added quickly as you saw Axel open his mouth. “I’m just—feeling bad.” Miserable, actually. “I go home and rest and hopefully I’ll bounce back tomorrow.”
The guys looked at each other and conceded. Terra kept his arm around your shoulder, “Alright, fine. I’m gonna drive you home though—no buts.” He covered your mouth with his hand before you could protest. You made a sound of disapproval, but the brunette ignored you.
The guys continued to argue about something inane, but you felt maybe they were acting out to try and cheer you up. Maybe staying away from your friends wasn’t the right thing to do. Being around them actually lifted your spirits a little. Sure it hadn’t improved much, but it certainly wasn’t worse. When you got home later, you’d go to sleep and hopefully wake up with a better outlook.
Although, you guessed even if you didn’t, you’d be able to lean on your friends for some support.

DAY 5/14
"Can I do your intro?" I mumbled, looking over at Colby.
He smiled cheekily. "Yeah sure, go ahead."
I cleared my throat, getting into character. "Hey what's up you guys, Colby Brock here! And today I'm here with..."
"Skye." Colby muttered, holding back a laugh.
"Skye! And as you can see in the title, I'm gonna be interviewing her, and vice versa."
"Alright, I guess this is your youtube channel now."
We both stared at each other, and then busted out into laughter.
"Hey what's up you guys, it's Colby. And I'm here with Skye. She makes videos on her channel, which you should go check out. She's also a fan of me and Sam. And, she's my friend." He explained.
"That I am." I chimed in.
"And as she has already told you, I'm gonna be interviewing her. And she's also gonna be interviewing me." Colby stated, looking directly at the camera.
He continued, "So, we each have a couple questions and we're gonna just go back and forth and we have to answer them truthfully. No matter how uncomfortable the question might be."
"Mind you, we have no idea of each other's questions. Do you wanna go first or should I?" I replied.
"I'll start. This one is easy. How long have you been a fan of us?" He asked, looking down at his phone and then looking up at me.
"Oh okay. Um... since 2016. I found you guys because Elton's videos. Or TFILs." I answered.
He nodded his head. "Cool. Did you instantly become a fan or did it take a while for you to like us?"
"I'm pretty sure it wasn't instant, but it didn't take long for me to fall in love with you and Sam." I blushed at my own words.
He grinned. "Awh, that's so sweet. What's your question for me?"
I glanced down at my phone. "My first question is is there a video on either yours or the duo channel that you wish you could change? Maybe it's not edited right, or the content isn't as great as it could be. Just any video that stands out that you just don't like."
He cocked his head to the side. "Um... I know on Sam and mine's channel some of our earlier videos are so cringey. Like where we give relationship advice or talk about girls in general. Some of our earlier videos just weren't that interesting."
"Is there any one that stands out?" I questioned.
"Not that I can think of. But any of our first vids, honestly." He insisted. I nodded my head as he kept talking. "Next question! Whose content do you like more: mine's or Sam's?"
I gasped. "What the fuck Colby?! I'm not answering that."
"You have to. You have to." He laughed, covering his face.
"Fine then... Sam's." I smirked.
"What?! Why don't you go be on Sam's channel then?" He mocked.
"Alright, BYE!" I started to get up, but he lightly grabbed my arm and pulled me back down, making me laugh. "I'm just kidding, but seriously Sam's."
He rolled his eyes, and I asked my second question. "My next question for you is would you ever sing on camera... like for real."
"Oh God. If I did, I would need like a lot of practice. I'm not good." He admitted.
"I don't think you're bad." I disagreed.
Colby looked at the camera."She's lying, I suck."
"No, you don't. I mean, even really good singers take voice lessons. So if you want, you should take some." I explained.
"Maybe I'll think about it. Thumbs up this video if you want me to sing." He smirked, pointing at the camera.
"The video becomes the most disliked video." I murmured.
He turned his head to me, gasping. "How could you." I giggled back.
He softly swatted my knee, chuckling back at me. "Anyway, one of my last questions for you is what content, as a fan, would you like to see from me?"
"Wow. That's a good question." I said.
"Thanks." He replied.
"Uh... if I'm honest, I think you should start posting more serious videos. Like, be open with the fans about your feelings and whatnot. I mean, compared to Sam's channel, you don't really have any 'personal' videos. I'm not expecting you to cry on camera or anything, but if you got more... real with us, I think that would be nice to see. Maybe once every couple months, just do like a sit down video and open up." I finished, finally looking up into his eyes. He had been staring at me the whole time.
"Shit... that's something I'll keep in mind." He nodded his head lightly.
"Yeah." I whispered, still looking into his eyes. After a pause, I could feel my face starting to heat up. I looked away. "...So my last question for you is what is your favorite part about this fandom?"
"Oh, it's all the love and support you guys send to me on the daily. I mean, if I'm ever having a bad day, I know I can go to my dms or my notices on twitter and see all the beautiful messages you guys send to me. Thank you guys for all of it, really. You guys are the best fans in the world." He declared, addressing the camera mostly.
He turned to me and smiled. "Now my final question for you is... would you like to go exploring with me and Sam?"
"Sometime soon?" I asked.
"Maybe..." He teased, smirking.
"If I'm invited, sure." I smiled, giggling slightly.
"Okay, then, that being said, that's gonna be it for today's video. Shout out to Skye for being an awesome fan and doing this for me kinda last minute." He informed, turning his head back to the camera.
"Yeah, he literally texted me yesterday about this." I mentioned, getting another jokingly dirty look from Colby.
"Why you gotta call me out like that?" He muttered, his frown changing into a smile quickly. "Anyway, leave a like if you enjoyed. Comment down below your favorite part. And I'll see you next week. Peace!" He blew a kiss at the camera, reaching over to turn it off.
I waved at the camera. "Bye."
He sat back down on his couch, looking over at me. "So, how was that for you?"
I smiled. "That was really fun. And went by really fast."
He nodded his head. "Simple videos like this are really fast to film and edit for me anymore."
"When are you gonna post this?" I asked, sitting up in my seat and crossing my legs.
"Next week. I filmed a video this week with Brennen so I have that to post and then next week I'll be posting this." He informed me, taking his camera off the tripod.
"Is there anything you need to do before the party tonight?"
"Actually yeah. I need to run to the store and get some alcohol and probably some more cups. Do you wanna come with me? And then if you want I can drop you off back at your house?"
"That's sounds good." I agreed, smiling.
He smiled back, grabbing his keys. "Okay then, let's go."
/  /  /  /
"What type of alcohol do you like?" Colby asked, glancing around the aisle at all the alcohol.
"I'm more of a vodka lady myself. Specifically, Grey Goose." I revealed, shrugging.
Colby gasped mockingly. "Oh wow. Someone's boujee."
"What do you like drinking?" I sassed.
"Jack. Or Crown Royal." He replied.
"Isn't whiskey for old men?" I jeered, smirking.
"Shut up." He teased, grinning.
I sighed. "What else do we need to get anyway?"
"Cups, and I think that's it." He answered, slowly starting to push the cart.
I stopped the cart, grabbing his attention. "Can you hold the cart still for a sec?"
"Sure."
Colby held the cart, as I slowly threw my leg over it to get inside. As I sat down in it, I faced Colby, who shook his head and smiled. He then started pushing the cart again. While he went up and down the aisle, I snuck a photo of him. Posting to my snapchat, I typed the caption "I love having a personal driver".
We finally arrived next to the plastic cups. He grabbed a set and threw them in, smacking me in the stomach. I gasped, and he just smirked at me and began to push the cart up the next aisle.
"I'm gonna pick up some more sodas." He said.
"Try not to throw that on me." I huffed, staring up at him.
"Can't guarantee." He whispered, giving me a wink.
He took two sodas from the shelves and drove the cart over to the self-check out section. After scanning the items and paying, all while I'm still in the cart, he rode the cart over to his car. He took the four bags and put them in his trunk.
"Can you help me out?" I asked, raising my arms to him.
He nodded his head, and I grabbed his shoulders. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me out of the cart. I landed on my feet in front of him.
"Thank you." I giggled.
A smile fell across his lips. "No problem."
Our eyes met for a moment. I could feel his arms still around me and my hands were still resting on his shoulders. We were chest-to-chest, almost too close for comfort. I slowly slide my hands down his arms, and he let go of me, our gaze falling off each other.

I waved to Colby from the door as he drove away. I shut the front door, leaning against it and sighing.
Maybe my heart can finally relax now...
I walked over to Casey's room where I could hear music being played. I opened her door and saw her sitting at her vanity, playing around with make-up.
"Hey Cas." I said, walking into her room and laying down on her bed.
"Hi. So how did your day go with loverboy?" Her eyes landed on me through her mirror.
I exhaled. "Fine. The video went really well. After we filmed, we went shopping for the party."
Her tone of voice changed. "Can you be honest with me for a second?"
"I'm always honest." My face twisted up.
She shook her head in disagreement. "Not when it comes to your feelings for Colby."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Skye, why are you pretending? It is so obvious that you like Colby. Why don't you just admit it?"
"The same reasons you don't admit that you like Brennen." I deadpanned.
She sighed deeply. "We're not talking about me."
I chuckled. "Funny enough, that is the same thing Brennen said to me when I told him to admit his feelings for you."
She rolled her eyes. "You really do have a knack for changing the subject, Skye."
After a moment, I answered, "Do you really wanna hear me say it?"
"Yes." She replied, turning to me.
"I... like Colby. A lot, actually. But why is it so important for me to admit it?" I grumbled, my shoulders dropping.
"Because you haven't shown interest in a guy in years. You're always so cynical when it comes to love and romance and all that mushy stuff." She complained.
"Well, I haven't exactly had a good track record with any guy so, I'm gonna be a little hesitant." I scoffed, glaring at her.
"Colby's different though." She noted, getting up from her vanity and walking over to her closet.
One of my eyebrows raised. "How is he different?"
"Because he for sure likes you." She said nonchalantly.
"I don't think so." I shook my head.
"Colby likes you. And you like him. One of you needs to take the next step forward and just admit it already. Maybe even tonight at the party." She shrugged, a soft smile on her lips.
...Maybe.

"Skye, c'mon! If the uber comes and you're not ready, I'm leaving without you." Casey yelled from the living room.
I rolled my eyes at Casey's words. Looking at myself in the mirror, I cocked my head to the side, trying to get a different angle. I don't usually dress up, not because I'm above it; it's because I don't think I look good.
My maroon, flowy dress clung to my upper torso and cascaded from my waist down. The sleeves of the dress hit just slightly past my wrist. The tights underneath the dress were lacy and black, combined with my platform boots.
"Skyeeeee!" She shouted.
Sighing, I called back. "I'm coming."
Grabbing my purse off my bed, I headed out of my room. Walking into the living room, I met with Casey, who had her back to me.
"Are you finally..." She turned around to me, her sentence falling off when she saw me.
I shifted my gaze. "What?"
"Holy shit. You look gorgeous!" She exclaimed.
I smirked. "Are you saying I'm ugly the rest of the time?"
Her shoulders slouched. "You really know how to turn a positive into a negative."
I shrugged. "It's what I do best."
"But seriously, you look so good Skye." She responded, smiling brightly.
"Thank you. You look so pretty yourself. Are you trying to catch a certain boy's eye?" I nudged her with my elbow, smirking again.
She scoffed. "I think you might be projecting. I can't wait 'til Colby sees you. He's gonna drop dead."
I swatted my hand at her. "He probably won't even notice I'm there."

Grace woke up Monday morning to sunlight streaming through the windows into the peach-colored room and a pillow pressed up against her back. She groaned and rolled over, stretching out, and finding the other side of the bed empty.
She was disappointed until she heard conversation and laughing from the other side of the door and a delicious smell wafting in. Grace was hungry. She popped her back, then sank her toes into the soft carpet. After pushing herself up she rummaged through her bag, grabbing a sports bra and a pair of shorts to wear with the t-shirt she’d slept in. She brought the collar up to her nose and sniffed–it smelled just like him, a soapy smell with a little mint. She quickly put the clothes on, then opened the door to Ajay’s bedroom.
She leaned against the door frame for a moment, a soft smile crossing her face as she looked out into the kitchen. He was there, stirring something in a saucepan while his roommate (his name was Jake, Grace dimly recalled) sat at the breakfast bar nursing a large cup of coffee. A timer went off somewhere in the kitchen.
“Dammit, I almost forgot about the muffins,” she heard Ajay say. “Jake, could you please–”
“I’m on it.” As Jake was getting off his stool, he turned and noticed Grace.
“Hey, Grace!” he called over with a smile as he walked around to the oven. Ajay whipped his head around, his face lighting up when he saw her.
“Good morning, sleepyhead.”
Grace pushed herself off the door frame and walked over. Jake, having gotten the english muffins out of the oven, gave a huge yawn as he walked over to Grace.
“Sleep well? I didn’t,” he smirked, holding out a hand for her to shake. She turned scarlet, instantly realizing what he meant.
“Jake, stop being a dick,” Ajay called from the kitchen. Grace tentatively took Jake’s hand, opening her mouth to apologize when he shook his head.
“Don’t worry about it. Really.” Then Jake turned back to the breakfast bar, climbing back on his stool. Grace made her way over to Ajay, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind while he waited for the poached eggs to finish cooking. He turned his head to kiss her on the forehead.
“Grace, this fool is bringing someone home at least once a week. I guarantee you he didn’t care.”
Still red, Grace buried her face between Ajay’s shoulder blades, taking the moment to breathe in the smell of his t-shirt. But she dropped the subject.
“What are you making?” she asked in a voice still a little rough from just waking up.
“Eggs benedict,” he said proudly. “I’ve been working on the hollandaise sauce for days.”
“Aw, all this for me?”
“No, for me too. And for Jake, because apparently he thinks he can come out here, make fun of me, and still get free breakfast.”
“It’s true, though! You’re literally making enough for three.”
“I’ll throw this plate at your head,” Ajay joked, not even turning to look at him. Ajay made a move towards a slotted spoon on the counter, so Grace released him and went over to sit at the breakfast bar.
“So. Jake. I want to know all his embarrassing stories,” Grace said. Jake took another long sip of his coffee and rubbed at his eyes.
“Well, most of what he’s done lately has been talking nonstop about you,” Jake grinned.
“Jake!” Ajay yelled, nearly dropping an egg back into the pan. Jake just laughed, and Grace joined in.
“Oh, that reminds me,” Jake said, patting the counter, “Why were you guys laughing last night? Ajay, did you-?”
“Okay, we are definitely not talking about this,” Ajay said hurriedly, cutting him off. Grace blushed again, but smiled apologetically when he set a plate down in front of her. She eagerly dug in to the eggs benedict, finding the hollandaise sauce to be a perfect compliment to the egg, canadian bacon, and english muffin.
“This tastes amazing! I could get used to this.”
“Anything for you. Coffee?” Ajay asked.
“Ooh, yes please. Two sugars and a little milk.”
“Coming right up.”
“Hey I’ll take another cup, black,” Jake piped up. Ajay glared at him as he set Grace’s mug down in front of her.
“Get it yourself.”
Jake, hands up in surrender, walked around to the coffee machine. Ajay finished serving up the eggs, then took a seat across from Grace. Once she’d finished a bite, he pulled her in for a kiss. Then he tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear.
“How are you doing?” he asked quietly.
“Amazingly,” she replied, picking his hand up and kissing the back. Ajay was about to kiss her again when Jake settled back on his stool, fresh cup of coffee in hand.
“So, Grace,” Jake said, “Tell me about yourself! Ajay’s told me a lot, but that’s mostly been about your talent or how amazing you are.” Ajay turned red, burying his face in his hands and groaning. “I want to know something with more substance.”
“Well, um, what do you want to know?”
He paused, possibly thinking over possible questions. “What’s your favorite thing to do on a free weeknight?”
Grace tilted her head, considering the question. “I’d have to say watch movies. I have all these movies, old and new stuff I got from thrift stores, and I’ve been slowly working my way through them.”
Jake’s face lit up. “Oh, you like movies? That’s awesome. Ajay, you didn’t tell me she was this cool!”
“Pretty sure I did,” Ajay retorted, then turned to Grace. “He’s an indie film editor,” he explained.
Jake checked his watch and cursed, getting up. “Speaking of which, I have to go. I’m almost late and it’s your fault.”
“Payback!” Ajay yelled at his retreating back. Then he turned back to Grace.
“Sorry about him.”
“I’m embarrassed!” Grace wailed, putting her hands in front of her face. Ajay tugged her wrists away.
“Don’t be. He’s literally done that exact same thing to me over and over. He doesn’t care, he just likes to tease.”
“If you insist…”
Ajay grinned at her and sat back, finishing up his breakfast. “You like the eggs?”
“Loved them,” Grace replied. “The sauce was perfect and the muffins were even better. I’m lucky to have snapped you up, with all these baking skills. I thought your cooking was like a dream in high school, I didn’t know they could get better.”
“Oh, I did a summer abroad in Paris during college and took a few classes there. I still can’t even compare to the experts. But thank you, I’m glad you’re happy.”
“Ajay, you know I’d be happy here if you made me a bowl of cereal. You make me happy, the delicious food is just a plus.”
He shook his head and beamed at her. “How did I get lucky enough to get a second chance with you?”
“We’re both lucky.” Grace leaned in to kiss him, but jumped back when Jake bustled through the apartment, a briefcase over his shoulder.
“See you guys.”
“Bye!” Ajay called, then stood up to shut the door behind him and swept Grace up into a bruising kiss, running his hands down her sides.
“I thought he’d never leave,” he whispered, making her giggle. He kissed her deeply, then pulled back.
“So, we’ve got about four hours until we have to be at strike. Did you want to go home, or do you want to stay here?”
“I’ll stay here. It’s closer to the theatre. And also that means I get to spend more time with my boyfriend, so it’s a win-win.”
“Great,” he smiled. “Anything in particular you want to do?”
“Do you have Netflix?”
“Yep!”
“Then let’s watch a movie and cuddle.” Grace decided.
“Sounds great to me! Which movie?”
“Ooh, what about Hairspray?”
“You have good taste. I’ll get it cued up, you grab some blankets from my bed.”
A few hours later, Grace and Ajay watched the credits scroll across the scene. Ajay’s arm was still around her, her legs thrown across his lap.
“Every time I watch that movie I remember why it’s my favorite,” Grace sighed. Ajay laughed at her gently, then pulled his arm back. She took her legs off his lap, turning to face him.
“Okay, now we’ve got one hour before strike. And I actually thought of something I wanted to do,” he said, gently taking her hand.
Grace wiggled her eyebrows at him.
“No! I mean, yes, but I actually wanted to say something.”
“Alright, go for it,” Grace said, taking in his serious expression. “Everything okay?”
“Of course. I just need to say something, in the interest of complete honesty between us.”
“Spit it out,” Grace said, growing concerned. He didn’t make eye contact, instead staring at their linked hands.
“Okay. So,” he huffed, “I don’t know if I should qualify it by saying ‘again’ or ‘still’, but…” he trailed off, seemingly losing his nerve. She tightened her grip on his hand, trying to offer him support. But it was hard to support him when she had no idea what was going to come out of his mouth next. He took in a deep, shuddering breath and finally met her eyes.
“Grace, I love you.”
She let the words resonate around the small apartment, her grip on his hands slackening and her eyes widening. He looked like he wanted badly to take it back, but they both knew he couldn’t.
“I- Ajay,” Grace started, then stopped suddenly. It was as if her entire brain had switched off when he’d said those words. Her heart started beating faster, like it was making up for her head’s inactivity.
He squeezed her hand, looking a little sad but still smiling. She looked away, still trying desperately to figure out how she felt about it.
“You don’t have to say it back, I know it’s really soon and we’ve both been through a lot, but I had to say it. I don’t know if it’s because of the friendship we rebuilt over the course of the show, or if it’s because we rekindled something, but that’s how I feel. And I won’t say it anymore until you’re comfortable with it. But I needed to tell you.”
He kept rambling, but Grace didn’t register any of the words he said past that. Tears pricked in her eyes, and her brain was finally startled back into action. Between the tears and the pounding in her chest, Grace figured out exactly how she was feeling.
“I love you too,” she said suddenly, cutting him off. She finally looked back at him, lacing their fingers back together. “I love you too.”
She watched as the realization spread across his face, a hesitant smile forming there.
“You love me?” he asked, voice shaky.
“I love you,” she replied, and found it to be the truest, rawest feeling in her head. “It’s not too soon. Between our friendship, our previous relationship and all the emotions of last night, I… it’s not too soon. It’s the perfect time. I love you again, and I love you still.”
They sat and stared at each other for a moment, lost in a universe all their own. She watched as he went from near disbelief to shock to pure love, something that she’d seen in his eyes before but never quite this much. He pulled her to him and captured her lips in a passionate kiss, holding her tightly against him. When they separated, he pulled her into a hug, pressing his face into her shoulder.
“I love you,” he whispered to her, repeating it over and over. She leaned back to kiss his forehead and to cup his face.
“I love you too.”
