“I’ll quit,” you lied to her. You wouldn’t.

“Don’t even think about it. It’s a waste of time. You think they’ll believe you?”

So you stayed and did what she wanted no matter how humiliating it got. And she loved to humiliate you. You knew people would talk about why you got called to her office so often. Comments about how inept you must be, office conspiracies about how you might get fired and your all time favorite theory: you guys were fucking on company time. Never in your life did you think you’d be the subject of gossip like that, especially not in a professional environment and especially when there was truth to the rumors. Life had really taken a turn for the worse and yet this was probably still the best option you had.

When you reached the top floor of the building, you took a breath, steeling yourself for what was to come. Carol’s assistant gave you a fake smile but didn’t say anything further as you headed down the hallway. Her door was cracked and you stepped in silently, just to see her pacing the room and talking to someone on the phone. Carol was dressed to kill, as usual, with her immaculately pressed blazer, matching skirt and heels so high you were in pain just looking at them. She looked you up and down once before stepping across the room to stare out of the floor to ceiling windows behind her desk.

“Whatever. Just get it done. I have a meeting right now.” She hung up the phone.

When she turned back to you, you were leaned against the closed door, nervously fidgeting with the edge of your sleeve.

“Look at my pretty girl wearing the dress I bought her,” Carol said, with that ever present smirk on her face. She was smug, like she always knew what was going to happen because she was in charge and reveling in it.

You can't really sleep when you're sitting up even if the fact that your stylist is working on your hair is really relaxing you, so you might as well try to get a bit more awake than you are now. 

While you're telling her about the interesting article you just read, your phone vibrates in your hand, interrupting you. You quickly open the text when you see is from one of your friends, thinking that if she messaged you at 6 a.m. then it must be something important.

Or... maybe not. What you got instead of an important text is what you're pretty sure is a screencap of a Buzzfeed headline.

She then sends you another picture, this time of the trending topics list. There it is at number 1, "[Y/N] BTS" and at number 2 is just your name. Below that one it's BTS alone.

As far as you know, BTS and kpop fans have the power to make anything trend on Twitter, so you're not that surprised to see they got you trending because they thought you'd met them. You're a bit surprised about the fact that it was over a complete misunderstanding, but stranger things have gone viral in the past and they will continue to do so in the future.

You wish your friend good luck at work today before you start telling your stylist about what just happened, and she just rolls her eyes and complains about people making news out of literally nothing nowadays. You agree completely— this isn't even the first time you are trending on twitter because of something silly— so you just drop the subject and go back to talking to her about the article you read. However, the thought of meeting BTS stays at the back of your mind for some reason.

You've only heard a couple of their most popular songs, which were admittedly very good and enjoyable, but you'd be lying if you didn't admit you'd love to meet them soon. They're huge right now, and even though you wouldn't call yourself a fan considering you don't even know all their names, you still recognize how incredible their journey has been and how talented they are.

Well, that and the tiny detail that every single one of them is absolutely stunning.

Chapter 2:  Jungkook

"Who's [Y/N]?" Jungkook asks suddenly with a little frown as he sits on the floor after dance practice, scrolling through his phone. He's sure he has heard your name before, but he doesn't really know anything about you.

"Uhh... isn't she an American actress?" Namjoon replies, downing half of his water bottle. "I think I saw one of her movies. A period drama. She's pretty good." He pauses. "Why?"

"[Y/N] BTS is trending on Twitter." He replies, reading through some of the most popular tweets about it. "Apparently there was a misunderstanding with a video." He shrugs, opening the video in question.

It's you wearing one of those 19th century dresses, but the effect is lost because the fact that you're wearing a modern coat and sunglasses. If he understood you correctly over the awful sound quality, you were on the first day of shooting.

"What are you watching?" Hoseok asks, standing behind him.

"The video people thought was of her with us. It's a behind the scenes video of her movie." He replies absent-mindedly, focused on his phone. "I think it's from the one you watched, Hyung." He tells Namjoon, looking up at him.

You seem to be at a dance practice now, with who he assumes was your costar. It looks like some kind of waltz, and you both seem to be already good at it— there's no way this is the first time you're rehearsing it. Suddenly, the man flips you around gracefully and presses his front to your back in what Jungkook assumes was meant to be an intimate moment, but only a second later you start twerking and then everyone is laughing.

Him, too.

"Come on, we have to go." Hoseok says, tapping his shoulder.

"I'm coming." Jungkook replies, still watching the video even as he stands up. "She's funny." He says to the rest, occasionally looking up to make sure he doesn't run into a wall.

"What did you say happened with her?" Jimin asks, massaging his shoulder with a grimace.

"Apparently someone uploaded a behind the scenes video of one of her movies but since it said BTS people thought it was about her meeting us."

If Jimin— or anyone else for that matter— cared about his response, Jungkook didn't realize. He clicks on the next suggested video and keeps watching, not paying attention to anyone else. It's during his viewing of that video that Jungkook decides he'll watch the movie Namjoon mentioned as soon as he gets free time to do so, and then he'll see what other movies you've done to see if anything interests him.

The fact that you're beautiful and when you smile his tummy feels tingly has absolutely nothing to do with that decision.

Chapter 3:  Jimin

The thought of the video Jungkook mentioned at dance practice comes back to Jimin all of a sudden late at night, when his mind is restless and the painkillers haven't eased the ache of his shoulder just yet. He can't sleep, so he might as well distract himself a little until they kick in.

He doesn't remember your name correctly; he misspells it several times until he just searches "Actress behind the scenes video mistaken bts band" and several recent articles appear.

[Y/N], that's right. That was your name. The names he'd been trying weren't even remotely similar.

He opens one article just for the sake of it— it's a very clickbait-y one, but he figures it's likely all of them will be— and starts reading an unnecessary long version of what happened. The gist of the article is what Jungkook already said: people confused a behind the scenes video of your movie with a video that involved them, and it went viral.

There are other suggested articles about you at the end of the one he just read, and one specifically catches his attention.

"[Y/N] gets bold on new Vogue Magazine interview: 'Gender roles are such bulls**t.'"

He quickly opens the original article instead of the mess he's sure is the one on the clickbait site, and he can't hold back a gasp at the picture of you that appears in front of him.

He figures he shouldn't be surprised considering what year it is and how normal it is to see women in suits nowadays, but he can't help but get his breath taken away when he sees a woman wearing one. He doesn't know what it is, and it's not really every suit on every woman that does it either— but the one you're wearing on that photo definitely fits the bill.

Your hair is purposefully messy— the kind of messy that can only be achieved by having a hair stylist work on you for a considerable amount of time, he knows that very well— and your face is covered in natural-looking makeup.

Except for your eyes. They did a beautiful job with them.

You are most certainly not wearing a bra and he knows that the fact that it's just noticeable enough is also very intentional, and there's something about the pose you're doing that is making his palms sweat.

Chin tilted up.

Eyes half lidded, looking down.

Mouth slightly open.

White dress shirt, with just two buttons undone.

He almost wishes you'd gone for another one as well, so your cleavage would be visible.

The picture is perfect as it is. Can't be improved by anything.

The quote on the clickbait site isn't even the most interesting part of the article; you talk about leaving social media because the pressure of making sure people liked you affected your mental health, about going to therapy since you were a teenager, and about how annoyed you were a couple years ago when the movement #AskHerMore was in full swing and you still felt reduced to only the way you looked at the Oscars, where a movie you were in was nominated. If Jimin understands correctly, a video of you looking very annoyed at the questions went viral.

"It was very frustrating," The quote begins. "because on one hand you had what was supposed to help the interviewers realize that you want to talk more about the movie you worked so hard on, but so many of them simply didn't care. I guess what really got to me was that there were people saying that women get asked about their looks because their dresses are so beautiful and of course people notice them, but I was wearing the most generic black suit you've ever seen. And still they kept calling me bold and chic and other things just cause I had fu**ing pants on."

He opens a new tab and quickly types "[Y/N] Oscars suit outfit" before he even realizes what he's doing.

And there it is: the same feeling he got a few minutes ago when he saw the first picture of you.

Breathless, palms sweaty.

He scrolls through the image results, opening and looking at related pictures of you in suits from other events. It seems that it's a preferred outfit for you along with jumpsuits, and there's an occasional dress now and then.

He sighs and goes back to the article to finish it and look at the rest of the pictures from the Vogue session.

"It doesn't just happen to me." You say in another quote. "There are other women who wear suits and it gets treated like some kind of big deal when they're just clothes. And men have it way, way worse. At least we can wear a suit normally but if men want to wear dresses or skirts or even clothes that deviate from what so many people consider masculine, they'll have people criticizing them and disrespecting them in horrible ways. They're just pieces of fu**ing fabric! Gender roles are such bulls**t."

Jimin smiles at that, and at the fact that the writer of the piece comments that you get very passionate when talking about such things. He likes it.

A big yawn interrupts his train of thought, and he realizes his shoulder hasn't been bothering him for a little while now. He leaves his phone on his nightstand and gets comfortable under the covers, thinking it would be nice if they had actually met you, instead of it only being just a misunderstanding.

Maybe one day.

Chapter 4:  Jin

Because Jin is sitting next to Jungkook inside the van, he can't really help but be distracted by the videos the younger has been watching nonstop on his phone. As it has been for the past couple of weeks, he's watching another one of your interviews. 

It's astoundingly obvious to everyone that Jungkook has developed a crush on you.

"You're still watching videos of her?" Jin asks, but the taunting tone in his voice goes completely over Jungkook's head. He's too focused on the video.

"Yes. Do you want to watch?" Jungkook asks, offering an earphone for him innocently. Jin finds it impossible to resist the cuteness so he accepts it, taking it from his hand and putting it on as he wraps his arm around Jungkook's shoulders.

It's an interview, and you're sitting next to an actor he doesn't recognize.

"Who's that?" He asks Jungkook, pointing at the guy.

"I don't know." Jungkook shrugs, truly not caring even a tiny a bit about who the man is. 

"Okay." Jin replies, shaking his head at Jungkook with a smile. There's really good chemistry between you and the man— you laugh together a lot, and he feels a spark of recognition at the back of his mind when he sees your smile, but he can't tell where it comes from.

"Have you seen their movie?" Jin asks, returning the earphone to its owner. Jungkook nods as he puts it back on.

"It's very good. I liked it."

So he has seen the movie, but he still doesn't know who the actor is at all? There might be a possibility that the crush is a bit more intense than Jin previously believed.

"What else has she worked on?" He pries, wondering if he's confusing you with someone else or if maybe he did see something you were on, even if it was in passing. There's something familiar about you and it's starting to annoy him to not know what exactly.

"Lots of things. Several movies. She was on a show when she began acting. I think her first job was on CSI or one of those American crime shows with a thousand seasons." Jungkook focuses on his video again and Jin pulls out his own phone, quickly searching for your name.

He opens your Wikipedia page and goes straight to Filmography, where he can see right there on the Television section that your first credit is actually CSI.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Oh, no.

The name of your character. Jin knows it. God, he'd recognize it anywhere. The name of the episode right next to it only serves to confirm what he's fearing.

He immediately types "[Y/N] CSI" and swallows a gasp when he sees the pictures that pop up in front of his eyes, careful to not alert Jungkook or the others.

Oh god, no.

Jin knows who you are very well.  He hasn't really watched the episode you appeared on in a while, but he used to do it so often that he memorized exactly what happens every single second you're on screen.

Your hair was a different color and you were younger—  that's why he didn't immediately recognize you. Back when you were on that episode it was futile to try and search for more of your work; CSI was your first role and he couldn't find any information about you at the time. He didn't really search for you again after that; he was very aware that shows like that have hundreds of guest actors that sometimes end up reduced to extras for the rest of their careers.

Well, this was clearly not the case for you.

The memories of the scenes he knows so well flash quickly on his mind, and he swallows with slight difficulty as he feels his ears getting hot.

Your hand is wrapped around the guy who plays your boyfriend's throat— and without showing too much it's clear you're on top of him while you have sex. His hands are tied with a scarf to the bed, and he's blindfolded.

Euphoria mingles with the inebriated feelings. She's dizzy, lightheaded, feeling as if every nerve has been cranked to max power, and a satisfied sigh slips past her lips.

She pants as if she'd just run a marathon. Her fingers loosen their grip on the table. Her body slumps onto the flat surface. Her legs go weak in the knees. Her eyes close as the last of her tears spill from her ducts.

"What...the f***...was that...Yuki?" Unable to even lift her head, her words are punctuated with each sharp intake of breath. Her voice is laced with curiosity and a velvety tenor that belied her body's exhausted state. That hurt like hell, but she wasn't exactly complaining.

Her voice was his guide to her journey of pain. Her body language, her fight to flee, the tears she could not hold back, all of it drove him to his own personal edge of ecstasy. He closely observed her spasming muscles, taking care to note when she had finished the spiral. When he had pushed her to the point she had lost all control and the sensations flipped to pleasure, he eased off.

The Most Disastrous Holiday Party Ever (ft. the RFA)

The last of my holiday ficlets, posted on the first day of spring because that’s how much of a disaster I am. :P

It took Eunbyeol what felt like hours to push her way through the crowd that had gathered in the room, even though she could have sworn she had only moved a short distance. Regret for having ignored the party planning weighed down each step, tempered only by the knowledge that she really didn’t have the time, considering her exams, and she had trusted Jaehee’s judgment.

She had, however, forgotten that Jaehee could do little when it came to containing everyone else’s enthusiasm for the event, and between the excitement of having their leader returned to them and the general Christmas spirit, the small holiday party she had originally envisioned had spun utterly out of control.

Finally, she sidestepped yet another unfamiliar woman before arriving in front of Jumin, who raised an eyebrow at her, no doubt questioning her somewhat disheveled appearance. He, of course, was as impeccably dressed as always and seemed utterly unaffected by the mass of individuals pressing in on them, even when more than a few of them seemed intent on capturing his attention in whatever way possible.

Damn him and his unflappable attitude.

“Jumin, what on Earth is this?”

He offered her a placid blink. “A Christmas celebration, as you requested, if I recall correctly.”

“If I recall correctly,” she said in as mocking of a mimicry as she could manage, “I requested a small celebration. And instead, you invited over how many people to the holiday party?!”

His expression didn’t change. “A few dozen, perhaps. It’s hardly worth getting worked up over.”

Staring at him for several seconds in disbelief, jaw practically hanging open at the hinges, would only amuse him and she knew it, but she still couldn’t stop herself. As expected, the hint of a smirk curled his lips, though thankfully, she was saved from further ridicule by Jaehee materializing beside her, clad in simple but elegantly festive gold attire and carrying her typical clipboard.

Unfortunately, the other woman’s expression did not bode well for the general state of the party and she heaved a sigh, somehow already exhausted despite it still being early evening.

Jumin, on the other hand, seemed completely oblivious; he turned to her, expression frustratingly constant. “Ah, Assistant Kang, there you are. Have you seen Jihyun?”

Jaehee’s lips thinned. “No, but I believe we have bigger concerns, such as identifying who thought letting Seven go anywhere near the refreshments before the start of the party was a good idea.” Glasses glinting disapprovingly, she turned and nearabout plucked the hacker in question out of the crowd.

Eunbyeol watched as bright golden eyes darted from Jaehee to her before Seven grinned, angelic enough that suspicion crawled up her spine, even as Jaehee’s expression soured even further. “What’s the issue here?”

Before the other woman could begin to formulate a response, she cut in, holding out what she hoped was a placating hand. “Jaehee, why don’t you see if you can salvage whatever mess Seven left with the refreshments?”

The look she received in return could only be described as skeptical, but Jaehee left nonetheless, thankfully just before Seven’s smile turned into a mock look of outrage. “What? Little ol’ Seveny, leave a mess by the food? I would never!”

She heaved a sigh, barely resisting the urge to massage her forehead; the festivities had only just begun, after all. “Seven. What did you do?”

“Eunbyeol?” Before Seven could reply, Jihyun’s voice cut through the din and she turned to find him with a bottle of… Was that… rum in his hand?

Her heart sank. “Seven!”

Something about her tone must have caught his attention; he started, something resembling guilt working its way into his features… or maybe that was just concern for his own wellbeing. Still, he schooled his face into some semblance of innocence with terrifying alacrity. “Yes, our dearest party coordinator?”

“Would you care to explain to us why you were by the refresh—? Wait…” Her gaze darted from the bottle in her boyfriend’s hand to the faint look of worry in Seven’s eyes. “Saeyoung Choi, did you spike the eggnog?”

He didn’t answer, though since that was because he had dissolved into a fit of giggles that would put an infatuated schoolgirl to shame, he certainly didn’t need to. The urge to slam her head against the nearest hard surface intensified, especially as Jihyun snickered, an indulgent grin on his face.

“Seven!” Her exclamation cracked through the air, loud enough that several guests turned to look. Waving them off with the most reassuring smile she could muster, she lowered her voice with some difficulty. “How could you?”

He shrugged, mostly unrepentant. “It’s not like anybody here is underaged.”

“Irrelevant. Besides, that doesn’t mean everyone here necessarily wants spiked eggnog, or can handle… how much rum did you put in there anyway?”

She wasn’t sure whether it was foolishness or self-preservation that kept his mouth shut but at that point, she hardly cared. Instead, she—barely—restrained herself to a glare that vowed painful retribution post-party, which he blithely ignored as he turned away, given his parting inquiry of whether he could prepare a Honey Buddha Chip creme brûlée as the centerpiece for dessert.

“No, you’ll burn the house down.” Her snapped response was perhaps louder than required, especially given the number of guests who seemed already curious as to what had her in such a tizzy, but given the circumstances, she frankly couldn’t care less.

Especially since, beside her, Jihyun made a noise that sounded suspiciously like a snort.

Thankfully, Jumin proved to be considerably more helpful than her significant other and offered both a pen to change the label and to pacify potentially discontent guests while she rectified the situation and pointedly ignored Jihyun’s hastily stifled laughter. Offering two final disdainful glances and one grateful one, she hurried to the refreshments table.

Much to her relief, the eggnog appeared to be mostly untouched, though whether that was from lack of interest or from experience, she couldn’t quite be sure. At any rate, it wouldn’t change the extra security which came from having a proper label, and ideally prevent the occurrence of any drunken mishaps.

Said hope was swiftly dashed as soon as she spotted Yoosung across the room with what must have been a second or third cup of eggnog; he had been a lightweight when she first met him and the ensuing years had done nothing to change that, judging from his slight swaying. Meanwhile, Zen seemed to be too busy entertaining the rest of their guests—and being fawned over by the multitude of women whom Jumin had apparently decided to invite—to notice much of anything, much less the predicament of his pseudo-sibling.

Spectacular.

Sighing, she wove her way through the neverending crowd, wondering how Jaehee had ever managed to maintain order in the past. Whatever Jumin paid her could never be enough, not that she was going to complain at the moment. Making a mental note to request Jumin grant his assistant a long vacation, she arrived beside Yoosung just in time to stop him from downing his most recent glass.

“Eunbyeol!” His exuberant cry of her name was worryingly slurred, though admittedly not as much as she had feared.

Still, it was enough so that she cast her gaze about until she spotted Zen, still engrossed in enchanting the guests around him. There was no subtle way of attracting his attention, not against the fawning masses, and if she were to be entirely honest with herself, any such method wouldn’t have been enough to assuage her frustration after having to deal with Seven’s latest escapade.

Instead, she contented herself with snatching Yoosung’s wrist and bodily tugging him in Zen’s direction. She still had a polite smile affixed to her lips to assuage the concerns of the guests around them, but it was something, at least, to vent her exasperation.

Luckily for everyone involved, their resident musical celebrity was surprisingly willing to keep an eye on Yoosung, even in spite of the still ongoing party. It was enough so that, in any other situation, she would have dared to question whether Zen was still working on convincing Seven to create a babysitter license for him. In light of her frustration with Seven, however, she only thanked him again, the hint of desperation in her voice apparently audible enough that his brow furrowed with concern and he turned to her.

“What happened?”

She made a face. “Seven.”

“Ah.” Sympathy colored Zen’s tone. “What did he do this time?”

“Spike the eggnog and I’m not even sure what else but I’m sure there’s something.”

She received a wry chuckle in return. “No doubt. It’s Seven we’re talking about, after all.”

“I just hope he holds off until after this is over.”

Keen red eyes met hers. “Not the party you were hoping for?”

The sound that escaped her lips could only be a snort. “That obvious, huh? No, I was thinking something much smaller. I’m just glad Jumin decided to play host; I don’t even want to think about having to clean up my apartment after a soirée of this scale.”

“Would you look at that? The Trust Fund Kid is good for something after all.”

“Zen…”

He grinned back with an air of feigned innocence. “Old habits die hard?”

She rolled her eyes, though with a smile of her own, as she lightly swatted at his arm. “To be fair, he’s being much more helpful than Jihyun is. He at least helped with mitigating Seven’s mess while our glorious leader just egged him on.”

“Hey!”

At the loud cry in her ear, Eunbyeol jumped, nearly bowling Zen over. By the time she had regained her equilibrium, Yoosung was already trying to cut a stumbling path through the crowd, seemingly fixated on something in the distance. Or perhaps more accurately, the two women frozen underneath, both looking upward.

“Jaehee!”

At Yoosung’s second drunken bellow, she leapt forward, catching him before he could move any closer and manage to draw more attention to the scene than he already had, gesturing wildly at the woman in question. As it was, Jaehee was already turning a very interesting shade of pink, sneaking occasional glances at her companion, a tall, thankfully amused looking woman she vaguely recognized as the owner of a little cafe that had opened just down the street from the C&R building.

Though, was that mistletoe hanging from the ceiling?

God, there was no way this could end well.

Before she could ruminate farther on the best punishment for Seven and likely Jihyun as well, Yoosung broke out of her grasp and pointed a finger at the duo. “Hey, Jaehee, you’re under the mistletoe so stop stalling and just kiss already!”

She froze, torn between a horrible desire to laugh or to slam her head repeatedly into the nearest wall in the face of the mess that her innocent suggestion for a party had become. Luckily, Zen’s reaction time was not similarly impaired.

“Yoosung!” He darted forward, face torn between amusement and concern, and pulled the boy aside, covering his mouth with one hand. “That’s enough for you, kid.”

Ignoring the muffled protests coming from behind their makeshift gag as Yoosung was dragged away, she turned back to the pair still frozen under the mistletoe to find Jaehee slowly turning a truly impressive shade of vermillion. From behind the fake spectacles, frantic brown eyes darted from the plant hanging innocently over her head to the woman standing across from her in rapid and undisguisable panic.

Before Eunbyeol could attempt to calm the situation, however, the other woman quickly met her gaze with what could only be described as a reassuring glance before stepping closer to Jaehee. Warmth sparkled in her eyes, along with mischief and… interest?

Well, that certainly explained why she had run into Jaehee there every time she chose to visit the cafe, at least.

“May I?”

Cheers erupted from her other side even before Jaehee, eyes wider than she’d ever seen them, nodded and Eunbyeol turned to find that in the chaos, Seven and Jihyun had maneuvered closer and were both grinning at the spectacle, the former with an expression of pride. Said triumphant grin morphed into a smirk as soon as he noticed her gaze and she groaned at the inevitable gloating she’d no doubt soon be on the receiving end of before returning back to the dessert table and the spiked eggnog.

God, she needed a drink.
