in the trenches rn
i'm 2 days into reading a 160k word fic and i'm nearing the end but tbh the good part is over and now i'm just waging through.
not in a bad way though the fic is like REALLY good. it's just, the part of the plot i really liked is over.
#it's a de-aging magic fic and i usually don't go there. because it's a very hit or miss category for several reasons#but this one's literally so fun. all the batboys got turned into little kids and it's just a batdad fic#like it's literally just them living in the manor while they wait for zatanna to fix them. and damian's 2yo + THE CUTEST#but also it's superbat but the first 100k words were just them being really domestic friends#but now it's fronting more “typical relationship” than i can handle#i DID go into it aware that would happen though#idk i'm not the biiiiiiggest fan of them like that#but yeah now they got back to their regular ages and all hate each other. and also the reason for them getting de-aged in the first place#was superbat related and kiiinda ruined it#really good fic though#fic: repeat your favourite mistakes and love them all again by watchingthestars13 on ao3#gothihop speaks

Current mood: hoping I saved all my WIPS on my ancient ass tablet, which hopefully still works, since I APPARENTLY didn't put them on a flash drive. I have not even turned this on in years.
OK IT'S ON it took for fucking ever to boot up. It's slow as hell.
But. Yeah. Not on here. It was kind of a long shot, but I'm positive that they were all on my old old laptop that I no longer have.

i feel so bad sometimes when i see people complaining about how their favs don't get a lot of content compared to my fav who gets a ton of content and i don't... really know what to do about it?
like i know i'm literally a part of the problem but i also literally cannot focus on anything else. i literally only read fanfiction about one character at a time and anything else just does not grab me as much. i can't explain why.

I'm realizing that I haven't actually had a new hyperfixation since about 2020 up until now. I've been really into stuff yes, but the last hyperfixation I had was the silmarilion and that died down late 2021. I'm still interested in it, but it's not at "consumes my very soul for an indeterminate period of time".
I'm realizing this now because I have been very abruptly reminded what an actual hyperfixation feels like. And now I'm suffering.
Pro tip guys, if you're gonna get into musicals, maybe try to not have it be specifically your college's run of the off-broadway version of a box office failure.

i absolutely get where that “all your fave fics were written by middle aged women” post is coming from wrt how women are treated in fandom as they age but like having followed a lot of the writers i was reading stories by back in the day ik for a fact that at the time most of my faves were written by ppl who were like 25 - 35 at the time lmao
#especially bc maybe not the original post but some of the comments were talking about older fandoms#and a lot of the things i like came into being in the last decade or so#also i do think people are in the habit of assuming only women write fanfiction which is not true#it might be MORE women than not who knows the demographics but like#idk i'm not assuming anything any which way about the things i read now bc most of the ones i used to follow#left fandom or got annoying to me#and now i find it's usually a mistake if i look at something on an author's blog or other account#like i was enjoying this one person's fics and they linked their youtube page and i saw the stupidest take for a video title#and i was like WELL YOU RUINED IT NOW#so it's best to just now know anything about these people for me#like god so many of the popular 1d writers back in like 2013 really got all high and mighty later on#so yeah idt i follow a single author i'm subscribed to on ao3 i just don't wanna see shitty opinions and ruin it#ANYWAY point is like yeah i get it but i think you could just say your faves are more likely to be written by adults#and even so like. y'all think teenagers can't do anything well which is weird and wrong but whatever
