Jack Rose

Sometimes, a Mid-Winter Saturday afternoon calls for a stiff cocktail, like this delightful 1920s Jack Rose, where the warming tones of apple brandy blend harmoniously with the sharpness of lemon juice, with just a touch of blushing grenadine. A lovely concoction! Happy Saturday!

Ingredients (serves 1):

8 ice cubes

45 millilitres/1 1/2 fluid ounce (3 tablespoons) apple brandy

15 millilitres/1/2 fluid ounce (1 tablespoon) grenadine syrup

a small lemon

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add apple brandy and grenadine syrup. Thoroughly squeeze in the juice of the whole lemon. Close shaker tightly, and shake energetically until well-chilled.

Double strain cocktail in a coupe glass.

Enjoy Jack Rose immediately. Cheers!

.5 oz lime .5 oz simple syrup 1.5 oz Organic Avenue apple juice .5 oz Lairds Apple brandy 1.5 oz Tanqueray gin

Instructions:

Combine in a shaker. Shake and pour into a Collins glass over ice, top with soda.
