Hi. I'm Porter Henderson. This isn't about me, though. You’re going to see a lot of fundraisers with Hurricane Helene. This might be a little different.

You see, I’m writing this on behalf of my landlords and friends, Nate and Amanda. The home we share with an additional disabled man in Lithonia, Georgia had some repairs that they couldn't afford, made much worse by the hurricane. They'd been limping along like everyone dealing with inflation and underemployment, but the situation has become urgent, and they need and deserve help.

Nate and Amanda have been my friends for over a decade, and when they heard I was no longer able to work and in a bad situation, they offered me a place in their first home. I told them I wasn’t sure what or when I would be able to pay. They told me that if I ever won my disability case I could start paying rent then.

You see, I'm trying so hard to save this home because they’ve tried so hard to save me.

I was so grateful to move in, and they treated me like family. When I lost the ability to drive, they made sure I got to my doctor’s appointments, and still do. When I can’t afford food, they take me to food banks, and what I can’t find there they’ll help me get at the store. They meet all the needs they could reasonably meet, and then a couple more.

I’ve lived here for three years now, and they’ve never stopped assuring me that I am wanted, even if I can’t contribute to the household on a daily basis. They have never let me go without if there was any other way. They have helped friends and strangers every time they have seen a need. They are unfailingly honest, incredibly trustworthy, and extremely hardworking people.

They've never had much, but they've shared everything they have.

Now, though, the hurricane turned a seem in our roof into a gushing waterfall, and finally into a large hole in Nate and Amanda's bedroom ceiling.

We tarped the leaking roof from the inside to channel out as much water as we could, but with a literal hurricane outside, there’s only so much that you can do.

The three of us who couldn’t get into the attic pushed our chronically ill bodies past their limits, dragging furniture away from walls, hauling totes as fast as we could with our canes, shoving empty containers into the corner as we kicked the debris out, and researching strategies for how to deal with the nightmare. Later we would wade through flooding water to dump out rain and tie down loose trash cans, shine lights and relay directions from the attic to outside, as we all attempted to get the water venting outside the house.

To make matters worse, the HVAC needs to be replaced. It’s a seventeen year old system, with a huge crack in the (inaccessible) drain pan and a bad motherboard. Some friends pooled money with Nate and Amanda to get a couple of window air conditioners for the summer. With medications that make three of us sensitive to heat, it’s been a rough summer, but we got through.

Unfortunately, winter is a few weeks away, and it’s going to be a little less than seventeen thousand for a new system to be installed.

What makes it an emergency however, is that without the drying and air movement of the AC, trying to dehumidify everything is going to be even harder, giving us a greater chance of mold. If mold takes hold, I'm not sure if we can save the house.

This fundraiser is for the $2,500 hurricane deductible that we're almost certainly going to be charged by the homeowner's policy and the $17,000 for the HVAC, plus estimated fees for the platform.

Not included in the total are any cleaning supplies, or a tiny storage unit and rental truck if we need one to store all of their bedroom furniture while the roof is redone. (We won't know about any of that until we get the estimate from insurance/roofing.) The claim has already been filed.

The air conditioning is a pre-existing problem, and I've found no way for it to be covered by any charity, government program, or private programs in the state. The ones that my social worker knew about didn't apply (I applied anyway) and I let her know about two more that I found. The religious groups I've reached out to in my area don't work in anything but clothing, children's furniture, and durable medical goods.

If additional costs emerge, or anything ends up being less expensive, I will update and adjust the goal accordingly as soon as I find out.

Nia Ola (someone I strongly urge y'all that you follow in light of certain events and just in generall, because they're incredibly informed, well-read) has made a point of saying that everything we're seeing now with dismantling of our theorical rights, is something Demoratics and Republicans have been ramping up to since as early as the 90s.

Because the internet has made access to others and the proflieration of ideas far easier than it was before success of its application as a platform, our otherwise fascist government has - since 9/11 and the Patriot Act, fomented a presence with large media platforms like 4chan and all of its inspired affliates (from Reddit to Kiwi Farms), with the explicit intention to sow distrust towards anyone who so much as suggests non-conservative or anti-racist ideas.

They may have operated within and supported the platforms mentioned above to spread fascist and far-right ideologies to the youth so that, by the time most become politically active, they're already programmed to be hostile towards and criminalize socialist ideas and leftists attempting to reconstruct community and class consciousness for the masses.

She notes how dismissive people were of information regarding Cop Cities (still being constructed) and community organizers. All of this was field-tested in Atlanta, Georgia, which slapped organizers with RICO charges for collecting money for bail or organizing protests.

They used the YSL case to once again legitimize using [hip-hop] lyrics (something that was theoretically protected under the First Amendment) to criminalize Young Thug under RICO. Instead of people peeping what was being done, they meme'd about it.

To this end, 4chan and its ilk were allowed to thrive for as long as it has (almost twenty-two years since 2003) because they were necessary for the creation of things like GamerGate and targeted attacks on people like Anita Sarkeesian (an individual who challenged the status quo of sexism and bigotry in gaming culture).

That is, until they were eventually compromised. With Twitter and Instagram actively spreading misinformation and propping up fascist ideologues on the say-so of Musk and Zuckerberg, there doesn't seem to be much use for it.

The post-election discourse on social media (from blaming third parties, blaming genuine leftists, to wishing death on the Palestinians, etc), our so-called politicians co-signing repressive legislation and standing back as the more overtly racist political party spreads misinformation and xenophobic messaging about anyone who isn't white and doesn't support America becoming a white ethnostate, might be the canary in the coal mine.

It is a sign of what they plan to do next to left-leaning people using platforms like TikTok to spread de-radicalizing and left-leaning information.

Trump is following Putin’s, Xi’s, and Orban’s playbook. First, take over military and intelligence operations by purging career officers and substituting ones personally loyal to you.

Next, subdue the courts by ignoring or threatening to ignore court rulings you disagree with.

Intimidate legislators by warning that if they don’t bend to your wishes, you’ll run loyalists against them. (Make sure they also worry about what your violent supporters could do to them and their families.)

Then focus on independent sources of information: the media and the universities. Sue media that publish critical stories and block their access to news conferences and interviews.

Then go after the universities.

Last week, Trump threatened in a social media post to punish any university that permits “illegal” protests. On Friday he cancelled hundreds of millions in grants and contracts with Columbia University.

This is an extension of Republican tactics before Trump’s second term. Prior to Trump appointing her ambassador to the United Nations, former Representative Elise Stefanik (Harvard class of 2006) browbeat presidents of elite universities over their responses to student protests against Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, leading to several presidents being fired.

Senator Josh Hawley (Stanford class of 2002 and Yale Law class of 2006) called the student demonstrations signs of “moral rot” at the universities.

But antisemitism was just a pretext.

JD Vance (Yale Law 2013) has termed university professors “the enemy” and suggested using Victor Orban’s method for ending “left-wing domination of universities.”

I think his way has to be the model for us: not to eliminate universities, but to give them a choice between survival or taking a much less biased approach to teaching. [The government should be] aggressively reforming institutions … in a way to where they’re much more open to conservative ideas.”

Trump is also targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs on university campuses.

But of all Trump’s and Republicans’ moves against higher education, the most destructive is the cancelation of research grants and contracts. The destruction is hardly confined to Columbia and other suspected left-wing bastions.

Research universities depend on funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.

Trump reportedly aims to slash the budget of the National Science Foundation by up to two-thirds. And he’s instructed the National Institutes of Health to no longer honor negotiated rates for “indirect costs” on grants that it administers — money that universities use for laboratory space and research equipment.

In defiance of court orders, Trump has largely maintained a freeze on NIH funding.

As a result, many of America’s great research universities have stopped hiring and are cutting Ph.D. programs — in some cases rescinding offers to accepted students.

When Obsession Has Unlimited Resources

Following up on my post about institutional yanderes (the ones with ACTUAL systemic power like judges, doctors, etc.), I've been thinking about another terrifying category that keeps me up at night: the ELITE yandere. Not just wealthy, but the kind with so much social capital and resources that normal boundaries simply don't apply to them.

Let's break down this nightmare fuel into three distinct but equally terrifying subcategories:

The Ultra-Wealthy Yandere

This isn't just "rich person obsessed with you" – I'm talking about the kind of wealth that makes problems disappear. Billionaire-level resources where money isn't just power, it's practically its own legal system.

The ultra-wealthy yandere doesn't need to stalk you themselves – they have a security team for "your protection." They don't need to threaten your landlord – they just buy your entire apartment building. They don't need to sabotage your job – they acquire the company and have you transferred to the division that reports directly to them.

It's horrific hiw easy it is for them. Your boyfriend suddenly gets a dream job offer overseas? Your best friend wins an "all-expenses-paid vacation" that keeps getting extended? Your family's medical debt mysteriously disappears right before they receive a "generous offer" on their house that would relocate them hours away? That's not coincidence – that's calculated elimination of your support system through "generosity."

"I noticed you were struggling to make rent, so I took care of it. No need to thank me. By the way, I bought out your lease. You can stay here for free... or move into my guest house. Your choice, of course."

Every kind gesture has invisible strings. Every "coincidence" is purchased. And you can never PROVE anything because who would believe that a billionaire with everything would go to such lengths for someone like you? The power imbalance is so vast that even your valid concerns sound like delusions of grandeur.

The Celebrity Yandere

This is the yandere with not just wealth, but a public platform and an army of devoted fans. The person whose obsession with you is disguised as "inspiration" or "devotion to their muse."

The celebrity yandere weaponizes their fandom. That cryptic song lyric about someone with your exact birthdate? The character in their movie who shares your unique mannerism? Their fans will dissect every detail, hunting down the "inspiration" until your privacy is shredded by people who think they're participating in a romantic scavenger hunt.

They don't need to contact you directly – they can send messages through their work that only you would understand. They don't need to threaten you – they just need to express "disappointment" and watch as their fans become an unwitting harassment campaign.

"I can't believe you're dating someone else when [Celebrity] OBVIOUSLY wrote their entire album about you! How could you be so ungrateful?"

The most terrifying part is that you become part of their narrative whether you consent or not. Your identity gets absorbed into their public persona. Your private moments become content, your resistance becomes drama, and if you try to speak out? Their PR team ensures your story is buried beneath headlines about your "obsession" with them.

The Old Money/Political Dynasty Yandere

This isn't about new wealth or public fame – this is generational power. The yandere whose family name opens doors, whose connections run through every elite institution, whose influence is woven into the very fabric of society.

The old money yandere doesn't need flashy displays of power. They operate through whispers at country clubs, through college friends who now run institutions, through family connections that go back centuries. Your graduate school application gets rejected from everywhere except the program where they happen to be studying. Your promising career path suddenly hits invisible barriers – except in their family's field. Opportunities mysteriously vanish and reappear in ways that funnel you directly into their orbit.

Their obsession is cloaked in tradition and propriety. Their stalking looks like proper courtship. Their family doesn't threaten you – they simply make it clear that your future success in any elite space depends on your relationship with their heir. And if you try to break away? The subtle blacklisting begins – nothing provable, just doors quietly closing.

What makes ALL these elite yanderes so dreadful is that their obsession is disguised as opportunity, as generosity, as privilege.

The gaslighting isn't just from them – it's from an entire society that views their attention as an honor rather than a prison. A society that sees their resources as inherently legitimising their behavior.

And when the alternative is complete financial ruin, or public humiliation, or professional blacklisting... the gilded cage starts looking like safety. Your resistance is worn by the sheer exhaustion of fighting against resources that seem infinite and you become complicit in your own captivity.

The student council president stares at you for a while before pushing his glasses back up again, in true anime fashion. “Hmph. Well, it doesn’t matter. It’s too late! Officially, your club doesn’t even meet the three-member requirement in order to operate. The problem lies with you , Itadori Yuji! You’ve been going along with this charade, but you’re not even a club member!”   

“Huh?!”   

Sasaki and Iguchi proceed to both glare at Itadori as if they’ve just been betrayed, and naturally, he’s in utter disbelief.   

“But I swear I wrote Occult Research Club on my application,” he insists.  

“ I rewrote it!” a new voice suddenly booms. Of course, it’s none other than the track and field coach, Mr. Takagi, who desperately needs Itadori’s superhuman strength and athleticism in order to win nationals.   

You’ve seen all this play out before, so there’s not a single word exchanged that surprises you. Mr. Takagi challenges Itadori to duke it out on the field, and if Itadori wins, he agrees to give up on him.   

That’s how you find yourself standing outside, awaiting their fateful match. Not that it’ll be much of a match at all, because Itadori will beat Mr. Takagi at shot put with ease. He’ll even break the world record in the process, if you recall.   

And so, you gather around alongside everyone else, but as much as you like Itadori, you already know he doesn’t need your support. Which is why your eyes can’t help but wander, searching the crowd for a certain dark-haired boy.   

Eventually, they land on the boy in question—Fushiguro Megumi.   

But for some reason, he’s staring right back at you.   

Crap. I got caught. He must think I’m checking him out or something.   

You turn away in a hurry, cheeks flushed. You know it’s bad manners to stare, but you just couldn’t help yourself. This is the only time you’ll ever see him, after all. Your fangirl heart simply can’t be contained.   

You figure he’ll just brush it off, though. He won’t think much of it. After all, you’re nothing more than a side character. In the grand scheme of things, you’re completely insignificant.   

That’s what you think , at least.   

All of a sudden, Fushiguro walks up to you, wide-eyed. You can only assume it’s because he wants to ask why you were perving on him, so you prepare yourself to be called out for being a creep, but surprisingly, that doesn’t happen.  

Instead, his expression turns awfully stern, and he faces you head-on.  

“You,” he says. “You have it, don’t you? You must be the one who picked it up.”   

“Uh…”   

What. Like, seriously, what ? By ‘it’ is he referring to Sukuna’s finger? He has to be. But you’re not even the one carrying it right now! As far as you know, Itadori still has the empty box tucked away in his pocket, and he’s already given the actual sealed finger to Sasaki and Iguchi. It must be stowed away somewhere in the club room.   

“I-I don’t understand what you mean,” you stammer nervously.  

It makes no sense why he came up to you like this. Could it be that some of the cursed energy is still lingering on your body? From when you briefly made contact with the finger the other day? It was only for a second, though. There’s no way that alone would be enough to draw him in.   

Fushiguro knits his brows together, then he lifts up his phone to show you a picture of—surprise, surprise—the special-grade cursed object he’s looking for.   

“This,” he insists, all but shoving the phone in your face. “I can tell that you have it. I’m sure you probably don’t even realize what it is, but it’s extremely dangerous, and I need you to hand it over immediately.”  

Shit. Why is he so fixated on you all of a sudden? You just barely touched Sukuna’s finger, and you’re not even the one carrying the box right now. He should be paying attention to Itadori instead.  

The plot can’t veer off course. It just can’t . Because if that were to happen, you genuinely can’t predict how this fictional world would hold up. You fear that the very fabric of this universe might tear.   

And in that case, you’ll be super-duper fucked .   

“Oh… that,” you say, mustering up a quick smile. “I get what you mean now. Um, yeah. I’ve seen that before. My friend picked it up, actually. Itadori Yuji. That guy over there. The one that just broke the shot put record. He’s still carrying it with him, as far as I know.”   

Fushiguro looks off into the distance, turning his head to where your finger is pointed. Sure enough, he sees Itadori, who’s just realized what time it is and sprints off in a hurry so that he can make it to the hospital for visiting hours. Fushiguro tries to run after him, but he’s too slow, of course, and he doesn’t even get close enough to sense whether or not the cursed object is actually nearby.   

“How is your friend so fast?” Fushiguro grimaces. “He seriously reminds me of Zen’in. Anyways, he already left, so can you call him or something so I can—”   

You’re gone. In the few brief moments he turned around and tried chasing after Itadori, you took the opportunity to book it the hell out of there. You refuse to unintentionally make a mess of things. A fangirl you very well may be, but you’re not about to screw up the storyline and end up indirectly responsible for god-knows how many casualties in the process.   

It’s important to distance yourself from important, plot-defining moments like these. Itadori needs to get a proper start. Everything needs to proceed exactly as it was written.   

But regretfully, your presence in this world is far too anomalous to be so easily overlooked. And by running away, even if you don’t realize it, you’ve unwittingly drawn even more attention to yourself.   

“What the…”   

Fushiguro narrows his eyes. Every second of that interaction felt forced and unnatural. From the moment he walked up to you, you seemed skittish for some reason, almost as if you were afraid you’d just been caught somehow. In fact, you were staring at him well before he even noticed you. Your gaze seemed to linger on him for an abnormal amount of time.  

More importantly… you got visibly nervous once he brought up the cursed object. And when he demanded that you hand it over to him, you insisted someone else was carrying it, and you diverted his attention elsewhere so that you could run away. You tried to get him to chase after your friend instead.  

It’s far too suspicious. Not to mention the absurd amount of cursed energy he can feel coming from you. You have to be carrying the cursed object. There’s no other explanation. Which means that you lied to him.   

People only lie when they have something to hide.  

“I see how it is,” Fushiguro mutters. He really would’ve preferred to settle this peacefully, but if you’re hellbent on being so uncooperative and deceiving him, he can only assume that you’re up to no good. No matter what, the cursed object must be retrieved.   

If he needs to take it by force, then so be it.   

A sad smile pulls at your lips. Poor Itadori doesn’t even know that today is the last day he’ll ever spend with his grandfather. And he won’t even have much time to grieve him, because Fushiguro will show up at the hospital immediately thereafter and whisk him away into a confusing, dangerous world.   

You feel guilty for knowing what’s about to happen, and even guiltier because you can’t be there to support him through it, but this is simply what fate has in store for him. Still, if there’s one thing you can take solace in, it’s the fact that he’s incredibly strong, and brave, and because of that, he’ll be able to weather countless storms.  

Anyways. It’s out of your hands now, and the bitter truth is that you were never destined to stand by his side.   

So, you trudge home, chanting a silent send-off for Wasuke in your head as you do, and eventually, you approach the residential area where you live.   

Except someone’s apparently been following you all this time.   

“You’re a sorcerer, aren’t you?” Fushiguro says. The sound of his voice catches you completely off guard, and you turn around in a hurry, jaw dropping open.   

Why… why the hell is he here?! He should have been following Itadori to the hospital!   

Fushiguro steps closer, eyes narrowed. “Either you’re a sorcerer—a curse user, perhaps—or you’re just an ordinary human with a morbid interest in the supernatural. But whatever the case, you lied to me. I know you’re carrying the cursed object. The amount of cursed energy I can feel coming from you is unmistakable.”   

You blink in disbelief. Is this seriously happening right now? You even told him that Itadori was the one carrying it. He should have followed after him, like in the canon storyline, and everything was supposed to have proceeded normally from then on. Did he not believe you? But what reason would you have to lie? And why does he keep claiming that you’re surrounded in cursed energy when you barely touched that wrinkly old finger for half a second?   

“I… I don’t have it,” you insist, a sense of dread creeping up your spine. “I swear on my life that I don’t have that thing. Itadori has it with him. He’s at Sugisawa Hospital right now. You need to meet up with him and—”   

“Stop. I’m not gullible enough to believe your lies,” Fushiguro glares. His stance shifts slightly, and you watch, horrified, as he links his hands together in a very peculiar way—a telltale sign that he’s about to summon his shikigami. “I don’t want to have to resort to forceful methods. The more you try to deceive me, the more suspicious it is. I want to believe that you’re not dangerous. That you’re just a normal person who’s gotten caught up in the wrong things… which is why I’m going to give you one last chance to hand the cursed object over to me. Before this escalates any further.”   

…bro.   

What in the actual fuck is happening right now? Why is Fushiguro Megumi threatening to kick your ass? Why is he looking at you like you’re some kind of threat?   

All you ever wanted was to fangirl in peace. Is that really too much to ask for?   

“I-I’m not lying,” you insist, and you even raise your hands in surrender. “Please. I swear I don’t have it. I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it. D-Do you want to pat me down? Search my belongings? I don’t have that thing. I promise .”   

Fushiguro remains on guard for a few more moments, but then his shoulders slump a bit, and much to your relief, he no longer looks ready to attack.   

“Here,” you say, tossing your bag onto the ground and gesturing towards it. “Please. You can search through it if you still don’t believe me. I swear I’m not lying to you.”   

“Alright,” Fushiguro replies, visibly wary. He crouches down and starts sorting through the contents of your bag, but then he raises his head to glance back at you and immediately does a double-take. “W-What are you doing? Why are you taking off your clothes all of a sudden?!”   

“Just my school blazer,” you say, lifting it up and turning the pockets inside-out. “Oh, and, uh… I guess my skirt has pockets too. Did you want to search through those yourself?”   

Fushiguro’s cheeks redden. “That phrasing makes it sound like I’m some kind of pervert. I don’t appreciate it.”   

“S-Sorry.” You pause for a moment, then do your best to turn your skirt pockets inside-out as well. Fushiguro watches with visible reluctance, looking somewhat ashamed of himself, but you hope he’s finally been convinced. “Those are the only places I have to carry things. Do you… believe me now?”   

“I guess I do,” Fushiguro acknowledges. He pauses for a few moments. “But then… how do you have so much cursed energy? You must be able to see curses. Right? Have you ever seen strange creatures lurking about? You’ve got more than enough energy to qualify as a sorcerer, so surely…”   

“ Ohh ,” you chuckle awkwardly, trying to feign ignorance. “So, that’s what those things are. Y-Yeah. I noticed them a little while ago. They’re pretty freaky, but it didn’t seem like anyone else but me could see them, so I was convinced I must be crazy or something. It’s not exactly the kind of thing you can tell people about.”   

You never imagined you’d be able to speak to Fushiguro. Meeting Itadori—and then Kenjaku—was already crazy enough, but you figured it would end with those two. To think that yet another important character has noticed you. It’s unprecedented. Even for a situation as crazy as yours.   

Wait, there’s no time for this right now! He needs to meet up with Itadori and get to the school in time to save Sasaki and Iguchi!   

You grit your teeth. Even if Fushiguro leaves now, it’ll take him too long to get to the hospital. He was supposed to have been there already. Itadori should be sorting out the paperwork right about now, dealing with the aftermath of his grandfather’s passing, but you can’t risk dragging things out too long. Sasaki and Iguchi are in danger. You refuse to have their blood on your hands.  

“I still don’t understand,” Fushiguro frowns. “If you have this much cursed energy, shouldn’t you have been brought up as a sorcerer? I don’t get how no one’s ever noticed… but I guess that’ll have to wait. Can you reach that friend of yours? Tell him it’s important. Tell him he’s in grave danger just by carrying that object around.”   

You nod hurriedly and start dialing Itadori’s number. Shit. There’s no guarantee he’ll even pick up in time. His grandfather just died. The only reason he rushed to the school the same night is because Fushiguro followed him and met up with him in person. It was made clear to him that his friends’ lives were at stake.  

But if he doesn’t pick up… then what happens? What will happen to the story? How will it proceed without a proper start?   

…what if you’ve already messed everything up?   

You feel like you’re on the verge of a meltdown, but mercifully, before you can spiral any further, a familiar voice calls your name.   

“Oh. Hey, [Name],” Itadori picks up. He sounds less spirited than usual, which is no surprise, considering he’s just lost the last family he had left. “I was actually going to call you in a bit. To be honest, I just got some kind of disappointing news—”   

“S-Sorry,” you stammer. You feel awful that you can’t even give him proper condolences, but you just don’t have any time to waste right now. “Please tell me all about it later. But I need to know. Do you still have that thing you showed me before? The weird box with the even weirder object inside of it?”   

You turn the call mode to speaker, and Fushiguro leans in closer to hear properly.   

“Huh?” Itadori responds. “Oh, that. I’ve still got the box, yeah. But I already gave what was inside of it to Sasaki and Iguchi. Remember how I said I thought they’d go crazy over it? They seemed really excited when I handed it to them.”   

“So, you don’t have the actual object,” you clarify—even though you already knew this to be true.   

Fushiguro grabs the phone and grits his teeth. “Where is it? Do you have any idea how dangerous that thing is?!”   

There’s a pause, and you imagine Itadori scratching his head.   

“[Name], who’s that random guy I hear with you? Why is he yelling at me for no reason?”   

“Tell me where the cursed object is,” Fushiguro insists. “This isn’t a laughing matter. Whoever has it right now, they’re in serious danger.”   

“What the heck? [Name], is this guy your friend or something? He’s saying some pretty weird things. Oh—did you find another possible club member for the Occult Club, by any chance?”  

“Itadori, I know this must all sound strange, but I can tell he’s not kidding,” you insist.  

“Huh. I didn’t realize that thing was such a big deal, but if you’re saying it is, then I guess I have no choice but to believe it.” He stops to ponder for a moment. “Come to think of it, I remember Sasaki and Iguchi mentioned something to me before. Something about removing the seal at school tonight and finding out what’s actually inside. Is that bad?”  

All the blood drains from Fushiguro’s face.   

“Not just bad!” he cries out. “They’ll die !”   

“...what? You’re starting to scare me, man. I really hope this isn’t some kind of prank, because if so, it’s really not cool.”   

“Itadori, even if it sounds crazy, please believe him,” you say, swallowing hard. “I… I’ve been seeing weird things for a while now. What he’s saying definitely isn’t made up, and I’m really worried about Sasaki and Iguchi. You have to meet us at the school, okay? You have to.”   

Fortunately, Itadori isn’t the kind of guy to abandon his friends when they’re in danger, and he seems to trust in your words enough that he’s willing to make an appearance at the school. Which means everything’s okay. The story is back on track.  

But little by little, everything will start to change.  

You and Fushiguro arrive at the high school right in time to see Itadori running up from afar. The sight of him immediately prompts a sigh of relief. He’s finally met up with Fushiguro, and he’s now in the right place at the right time. Thank goodness.  

“Found you guys,” Itadori says, but he suddenly halts in place, brows knitting together. “Am I… just imagining things? What’s with all this pressure?”   

You feel it too, without a doubt. Inside the school, countless curses must be running rampant right about now. What lies ahead is nothing short of a hellscape, and even from all the way out here, the sensation is downright sickening.   

“I’m not sure why you called him out,” Fushiguro grimaces. “He doesn’t even have any cursed energy. He’s just a regular human. I just needed to know where to retrieve the special-grade cursed object. He shouldn’t be here.”   

“I don’t know what you’re on about,” Itadori frowns, “but those two inside are my friends. There’s no way I could just abandon them. Over the phone, you kept saying how dangerous it was. So, I’m coming with you.”   

“ No ,” Fushiguro sternly refutes. “Stay here. Or better yet, go home. It’s way too dangerous for someone like you. And… it’s [Name], right?” All of a sudden, he turns towards you and narrows his eyes. “Based on your cursed energy alone, you should be a sorcerer. But I can tell you don’t have any experience with exorcizing curses. I don’t know how it’s possible that you’ve stayed under the radar for so long, but I can’t bring you with me either. You don’t know how to fight. I can’t put either of you in any danger.”  

Well, it’s a good thing you had absolutely no intention of going in there anyway. You’ve done your part. Fushiguro and Itadori have officially met, and from here on out, the story will proceed as it should.  

“I’m going in alone,” Fushiguro reiterates. He pauses for a few moments, and his gaze softens slightly. “Don’t worry. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect your friends.”  

He leaves without a moment’s delay, and Itadori clenches his jaw, visibly opposed to waiting around outside while Sasaki and Iguchi are in danger.   

“What am I even so afraid of?” Itadori mutters. “Hey, [Name]. I didn’t get a chance to tell you this before because everything happened so fast, but… earlier today, my gramps died.”   

You offer a sympathetic smile. “I’m so sorry for your loss. I wish you didn’t have to deal with this right now, when you should be grieving him instead.”   

“It’s okay. I always knew it was bound to happen soon, and besides, he wouldn’t have wanted me to mope around for too long. I bet he’d be yelling at me from the afterlife if I just sat around crying instead of moving on. But… before he died, he told me to help people. And right now, I feel like I’m letting him down.”   

You already know that he’s bound to chase after Fushiguro, but nevertheless, you feel obliged to give him a small push.   

“You’re strong, Itadori. Whatever’s in there, I’m sure you can handle it. That’s why I called you. Because I knew Sasaki and Iguchi could count on you to save them.”   

His expression brightens, and suddenly, his gaze is clearer. More resolute. Like he knows exactly what he needs to do.   

“But what about you?” he asks. “I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving you out here all on your own. That guy was saying it’s super dangerous. I’m worried something might happen to you while I’m not around.”   

“There’s no need to worry,” you reassure. “This stuff is way too scary for me, so I’m just gonna go home—”  

“Come to me… girl.”   

You wince. Something is wrong. For just a second, you swore you heard Sukuna’s voice reverberating in your head. Your shoulders are suddenly weighed down by a heavy, unpleasant sensation, the likes of which makes bile rise up your throat.   

It’s as if someone has your heart in a death grip. The further you back away from the school, the more painful the sensation becomes. You feel a strange, unseen force pulling you closer and closer, until finally—without even realizing it—you’re pushing the school doors open in a trance.   

“[Name]?” Itadori blinks. “You’re coming too? It’s dangerous, you know? I guess you must be pretty worried about Sasaki and Iguchi too.”   

No… this isn’t me. I’m not… I’m not the one doing this.   

That’s what you try to say, but much like when you inexplicably found yourself in Sukuna’s Innate Domain, no sound escapes your lips.   

“Well, in that case, don’t worry,” Itadori says, a big grin stretching across his lips. “Just stay by my side. I’ll protect you. And together, we’ll save them, okay?”   

The door closes behind you, echoing with a resounding thud.   

Like it or not, you’re here to stay.

So, I've noticed a lot of people have talked about how the Trump executive orders mainly affect trans women, due to language used, and how trans men don't have much to worry about.

This, is incorrect, but I've still read the arguments from those who support this position, and I've noticed one thing in common - ignorance of statutory interpretation.

So, I'm here to put my education in law to use, and finally put to rest why these executive orders do and will affect trans men/mascs, once and for all.

Firstly, a primer:

So, there are three main approaches to statutory interpretation, that are relevant. Others such as textualism are mainly applied in Constitutional Law, and I'd argue aren't relevant to this discussion, so I'll skip over it. The approaches, and explanations/examples are as follows:

The golden rule

The literal rule

The mischief rule

Golden Rule: this one is pretty simple. It's the rule that one should interpret the law in a way that will avoid absurd results not intended by the legislature.

An example of this would be a law that says that no vehicles are allowed in a park. "Vehicle" can be defined as such: a conveyance moving on wheels, runners, tracks, or the like, as a cart, sled, automobile, or tractor.

A stroller used to transport children could be applicable to this definition. Do you think the legislature intended for a public park to prohibit parents from walking around with strollers? Interpreting it literally would lead to this, and thus we should apply this rule to avoid such an absurd result

Literal Rule: This one is pretty simple. As the name suggests, this is where the courts simply look at the words of the statute and apply them as they are written giving them their ordinary and natural meaning.

Easy example would be laws on how many dogs one can own in a household. Dog is defined as a carnivorous mammal (Canis familiaris). So, someone who has 10 canines, when the law says four maximum would be breaking the law, and you wouldn't interpret to to say four canines, three cats, and four ferrets would be breaking the law.

Mischief Rule: The mischief rule tells an interpreter to read a statute in light of the “mischief” or “evil”—the problem that prompted the statute. So, you look at what the law originally intended to protect and correct, say, 90 years ago, and interpret the law to reflect this in the modern era. An example of this would be arresting someone for "operating a vehicle while intoxicated", while riding a bicycle down a busy road. Sure, the lawmakers intended for it to be cars and trucks, but if we interpret it the way that they intended, you'll then allow people to ride bikes drunk, and that's a hazard to the person riding said bike as they could seriously harm themselves.

So, with these definitions clearly defined, let's put this into practice, with real world examples:

This EO was written for the purpose of preventing individuals of the opposite sex from competing with each other. Sure, it talks about how it's to focus on "women's categories", but the intent was to focus on maintaining single-sex spaces, which a trans man in men's sports would go against.

Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government

Ready for another exercise? Which rule would be used here by a Conservative judge?

Literal Rule.

This one is pretty simple. It says that spaces for females is only for those with a vagina, and those for males are for those with a penis, as that's the most plain definition of male and female as per the dictionary. Albeit reductive and ignores intersex people, it's still the literal meaning.

Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation

Which rule would be applicable here? Here's a hint:

Mischief Rule

The reason being, is that these two sections had the goal of preventing any sort of gender affirming care for minors (those under 19 as per this EO), whether it be surgery or medication. So, a judge would interpret "FGM" in light of this, to prevent the absurd result of allowing treatment for trans men (as they're men and not females, and you can be sure that the judge will respect a trans man's identity in order to enforce this).

So, as you can see from these three real world examples that are often brought up in conversation about how these orders "only affect trans women", it's entirely possible to apply these laws to trans men and transmasculine individuals, through legitimate practices used every day in the legal system. Not every judge uses the plain meaning rule, this is a verifiable fact.

I hope this post was of some use, and has been enlightening to those who weren't aware that this is even a thing, and hopefully we can stop arguing over who has it worse with these EOs, because, as you can see, it doesn't matter how it's written, or what "gotchas" you try to find - because the President wants to destroy trans lives, he can easily do this, no matter how the laws are written, so long as he has the right judges.

in a world full of glamorous and shining stars, you were one of the ones that actually deserved that title. the "heroes" claim to be bringers of justice and champions of the people, but everyone knows that's not true anymore.

in the beginning, the heroes and their agencies did genuinely begin and operate with the intentions of helping the general public. now, they turn a blind eye to anyone that isn't from a wealthy area. they're only interested in what makes them the most money, which means they only fight the big bad "villains," and help the people who can pay the most.

fortunately, you had the power to actually make a difference. instead of working as a hero, you decided to embark on a different path.

two years ago you became a vigilante.

two years of helping the people who need it the most.

two years of helping the people who couldn't cough up the cash to keep the heroes interested.

someone needed to deal with the less-than-glamorous problems that the heroes conveniently forget about.

someone needed to deal with the issues and crimes the heroes refused to touch.

and that person was you.

as you were finishing up a patrol, you noticed a slumped silhouette in an alleyway. you couldn't tell what it was at first, but you realized it was definitely alive when it started moving

as you approached, you moved quietly and cautiously, trying to assess the situation before making any snap judgements. all you could see from this distance was a dark human-shaped blob.

you crept closer and closer, now around five meters away while trying to stay silent. as you steadily moved forward, you could make out more of the figure.

it looked like a man on the taller side. you noticed that, he was wearing some loose and dark clothing that obscured his figure. it looked to be reminiscent of a techware style, designed with functionality in mind above fashion.

there was no mask or anything covering his face, but you could see a small cut cross the right side of his face.

he appeared a conventionally handsome man, probably in his twenties, and had dark hair to his ears.

the man was slumped on the ground, possibly unconscious. his dark clothing also made it difficult to check for injuries, but further examination revealed a small trail of blood coming from elsewhere leading to the man.

after this making observation, you crossed the remaining distance and crouch directly in front of him.

it was clear that someone had attacked him and he had managed to escape. in addition to the trail of blood, his gloved hands appeared to be clutching some small object.

maybe someone mugged him and tried to take... whatever that is?

or maybe he took it from someone?

you weren't totally sure, but it wouldn't be the first time you ran into someone in a situation like this. while it may seem stupid at first glance, you decided the best course of action would be to bring him to your apartment to patch him up.

bringing a complete stranger covered in blood to your home generally isn't a good idea. however, you don't know this guy's financial situation and if he can afford to go to a hospital. additionally, you need to determine the severity of his injuries before deciding whether he needs medical assistance from a professional.

after making what could possibly be the dumbest decision of your life, you remind yourself of what you set out to do when becoming a vigilante.

you set out to help everyone you could, and if you had the means to help, you would.

most superpowers were separated into different classes based on their roles in combat. technically, your power officially falls under the "support" class, but it has its applications both in and out of combat.

you happen possess the unique gift of lulling someone to sleep and then keeping them asleep until you wish to wake them.

your opponent can't fight if they're asleep, right?

all it takes is your target being in your line of sight and a snap of your fingers.

the man was already almost out cold, so there's no harm in just... making sure he's completely out cold.

as the rest of his consciousness leaves him, he completely slumps over onto ground in front of him.

you move to pick him up, noting that he is more... lanky... than he appears. eventually, you are able to bring him up and throw his arm around your shoulder in a makeshift fireman carry. from this position, you can move him, albeit slowly, to your apartment.

somehow, this turned what should be a five minute walk into a thirty minute herculean task. you underestimated just how tired you were after a full day's work and a five hour patrol.

eventually, you make it up to your apartment while carrying the man. as you feel your strength about to fail, you gently set the man down on the ground in front of you so you can find your keys and unlock the door.

once your front door is open, you drag him to your living room couch as gently as you can. at this point, you can't even muster the strength to lift him up onto the couch. usually you don't keep someone unconscious for more than a couple minutes, so thirty minutes of using your powers really made the fatigue hit you even harder.

you can feel your legs about to give out as well, but you have to deliver first aid as soon as possible.

one catch that comes with your powers is that to put someone to sleep and keep them asleep, they have to constantly be in your line of sight.

in order to make sure he stays asleep, you keep your eyes on him and walk backwards into your bathroom. then, you make a run for it to grab the first aid supplies and return to where you can see him as quickly as possible since he's left your line of sight.

now holding the first aid supplies and rushing back to his side, you notice that even with your power's grip weakening, he's still out like a rock.

this gives you the chance to further assess his wounds and patch him up. after removing his jacket, vest, and shirt, you can finally get a decent look at his torso.

it looks like most of his wounds are localized to his right shoulder, with a trail of wounds leading across his collarbones and down his left arm. this confirms that he was attacked, probably by someone attacking from his right side? maybe?

it's hard to tell, but you clean and disinfect as much as you can, stitch up any open cuts, and wrap the affected areas with bandages.

you'll have to redo the bandages in the morning, but that should suffice for now.

you take a couple minutes to gather yourself before finally moving him up so he can lay on the couch. you take a couple steps backwards whole keeping your eyes glued to the unconscious man and feel for a blanket you left on a chair nearby.

after grabbing it, you move back to the couch and gently place the blanket over him.

then moving to sit on the chair you took the blanket from, you finally get to sit down for the first time in hours.

the sheer weight of your exhaustion overtakes you as you find your own consciousness slipping.

your sleep deprived brain seems to momentarily forget about the strange man you brought into your home.

you had planned on staying awake to keep an eye on him, but it appears that that won't be happening.

as your eyes close, you try to shake the feeling that you've seen him before. he wasn't wearing a mask, but his outfit definitely looks like one you would see on television. maybe he's a hero? villain? another vigilante?

but the odds of that were low, he's probably just some civilian that got caught in the crossfire of some confrontation, right?

regardless, that was tomorrow you's problem, as you finally find yourself falling asleep. completely unaware of just who you had brought into your home.

completely unaware of how this one act of kindness will change the rest of your life.

remember a few weeks ago when we were discussing the "vibes based reading" or "cued reading" catastrophe and a few of us on here noticed that the techniques taught in this syllabus were identical to the dysfunctional, compensatory techniques developed by people with dyslexia to handle expectations of reading performance in primary school? i recognized them from reading a book called uhh i think "The Gift of Dyslexia" which is both by and about dyslexic people, and how their brains differ from neurotypical brains etc. a lot of the book describes the processes dyslexic people use to try to keep up in basic societal expectations to deal with the way they experience letter reversal, perception differences, letter swapping, left-right confusion, etc.

so i felt like i got a better handle on what dyslexic people are actually going through. i wanted to be able to communicate and be supportive of dyslexia and understand how i could make things easier when talking or writing to them. i had a shitty boyfriend who was so dyslexic he couldnt speak clearly (dyslexia had nothing to do with him being a shit) and since he wasnt pursuing any help for himself i did it for him. dont do this btw just dump men who choose not to handle their own problems.

anyway i think i speculated that teaching children to read this way could give them a form of pseudo-dyslexia just for reading (dyslexia is not just a reading disorder btw, it is a fully different way a brain is formed and operates) and seriously harm their neurological and literacy development or something. well i just got anecdotal confirmation of this being the case in the comments of a video about this subject, a guy said he was a private literacy tutor for rich people and said he has seen a massive uptick in demand for his services and all the new kids who cant read have "dyslexia" diagnoses which appear to only be applicable to their reading processes, and not a wider disorder that affects any other part of their lives. his conclusion was unfortunate, which was that "dyslexia isnt real", and hes wrong of course but it's an understandable conclusion to reach after teaching dozens of kids who have been diagnosed with "dyslexia" that goes away when you just teach them to read correctly

so thats an interesting outcome of this shitshow that i hadnt anticipated. the "dyslexia isnt real" thing, not the other stuff. of course there are always a ton of abled people who think all disability is fake but this seemed like a direct result
