Early DC villains adapted to live action part 2

Killer Moth played by Tim Herbert -Batgirl (THis was a short pilot ,Killer Moth doesnt do much ,Herberts OK

Baroness PAula Von Gunther and Fausta Grables played by Christine Belford and Lynda Day George in Wonder Woman (Both actresses are menacing though I assume these villains were chosen cause they are some of Wonder Womans less fantastic rogues )

Lex Luthor played by Gene Hackman in Superman the Movie,Superman II and Superman IV The Quest for PEace (So as years have gone on Gene Hackmans Lex has become my favorite supervillain in film .Now it isnt an accurate take, but its a fun take .While at the time Lex was a mad scientist,I kind of love how th movie update him to be an eccentric criminal genius ,almost like a Bond villain and Hackman is such a delight to watch )

General Zod played by Terrance Stamp from Superman the Movie and Superman II (Stamp owns this role ,very commanding ,very menacing ,a perfect foil for the Man of Steel )

Solomon Grundy ,Weather Wizard ,Sinestro ,Giganta ,Dr Sivana ,Mordru and Aunt Minerva played by Micky Morton ,Jeff Altman,Charlie Callas ,Aleshia Brevard ,Howard Morris ,Gabriel Dell and Ruth Buzzie (NOt much to say about these guys honestly,they basically toook a bunch of comedic actors and dressed them up as supervillains ,Micky Morton is a pretty good Grundy ,Jeff Altman is decent ,Charlie Calla is an OK comedic take on Sinestro,Aleshia Brevard doesnt have much to do as Giganta ,Howard Morris is perfect as Sivana ,GAbriel Dell is meh (Though his musical number is fun ) ,and Ruth Buzzie is hilarious

Anton Arcane played by Louis Jourdan(Human form )/Ben Bates(Monster form first movie ) in Swamp Thing/The Return of Swamp Thing (Havent seen the second film but in the first film Louie Jourdan is an effective menacing villain,though his monster form isnt that convincing )

Imagine that it’s time for the last goodbyes – it’s time to watch Kara be Supergirl, marching into her doom fearless and determined because it has to be done and it has to be me.

Imagine the tears, the desperate, clinging hugs, the half-sobbed words, the soothing tone of Kara’s voice as she tries to be brave for all of them. She knows how this one goes. She’s lived through all the deaths and all the goodbyes.

And Lena – Lena doesn’t know how to do this.

Just days before, they were still at each other’s throats, spitting venom with every word, only being able to look at each other with squared shoulders and clenched jaws. How could she hope, dare to touch Kara now, to hug her, to hold her like a friend one last time? How could she even begin to tell her how sorry she is, how it should be her instead, how she loves her, how she’s always loved her?

But there is no time.

Kara’s standing in front of her now, hands clasped anxiously together, and Lena acts. It only takes three hasty moves – a hand to her wrist, fiddling with the strap, then thrusting the watch out for Kara, and–

Kara smiles. Confused, certainly, her forehead crinkling, but her face warms as she picks the watch from Lena’s sweating palm and examines it.

“In case I need to tell General Zod the current time?”

The gentle, teasing tone, unimaginable and unused between them for the past year, runs through Lena like a knife.

“It’s a portal watch,” she replies. Her mouth feels dry, her heart beating in her throat. “I don’t think it’ll work, but I just, I want you to have something. To remember–” Me. Earth. To know I will be working to get you out the second you leave.

The look in Kara’s eyes grows devastatingly tender. Her fingers wrap around Lena’s hand, holding it so softly as if she was afraid Lena might break at the merest touch.

(Lena knows she will.)

“I could never forget,” Kara whispers and Lena can no longer see Kara’s face through the tears that suddenly flood her eyes, but she feels the gentle squeeze of her hand still, even long after the portal behind Kara opens.

Imagine that absolution can fit into four little words.

And imagine–

A vast emptiness of space, a sublime abyss. Cold and darkness.

Time stands still in the Phantom Zone. There’s no today, no tomorrow, no relief. There are no stars on the horizon to long for, no guiding light to lead out of this bitter hell.

But against all odds, sense, and hope, Lena’s watch still works. It keeps ticking away, resolute, dutifully counting every second. It’s pointless, meaningless, maddening.

It’s Kara’s dearest possession.

There might not be time but she looks at the the little silver hands every time she wakes and every time she goes to sleep, anyway. She commits every crack of the leather strap and every minuscule scratch on the case to memory as if they were entries of arcane wisdom, the lines of a map leading to hidden treasure. And when Kara shuts her eyes and runs her finger over the engraved L.L., the lines do shift and transform into something, someone, that brings a waning smile to Kara’s lips again, that reinvigorates her strength and rekindles her spirit –

Imagine a tattered little figure sheltered on a lonely rock in the wide, wide blackness of space, clutching something against her chest and dreaming of hope and home.

Okay useless discussion about the lore of DC Comics’ Earth-13, a. k. a. Arcane Earth.

So technically speaking there are at least 2 different versions of Earth 13 with a possible third that could also just be part of the backstory for one of the other two.

First we have the technically noncanon version referred to as Arcane Earth. It had it’s first comic appearance in Infinite Crisis: Fight For The Multiverse #4 (Oct-Dec 2014) written by Dan Abnett, and fearures characters that appeared in the short lived infinite crisis moba game (March 2015). Which in turn was based on the original infinite crisis story arc of 2005-2006.

Not much is known, all we know is that some time ago in the past the league of shadows tried to extinguish the sun. The sun was rekindled using magic and because of it’s new magic core, earth 13 became more magical by being constantly exposed to mystic sunlight. We also know that many great abd terrible beasts such as doomsday were sealed away in tombs to slumber until prophesied to rise again in a lovecraftian fashion.

We only meet 5 characters from this world, Zatanna The Silent Sorceress, General Zod, Supergirl, the Titan Doomsday, and The Emerald Knight Hal Jordan.

Of the 5, Zatanna is stated to be more powerful than Supergirl and Zod due to her wielding blood magic through her scythe. And that through the sacrifice of her voice the sun was rekindled (implying that she alone is responsible for the mystic sun). Hal is considered to be one of their greatest heroes. Supergirl uses magic she calls “the flamebird” and general zod wields an axe that grants him necromancy and kryokinetic powers. (Called Icy necromancy, and said to come from the phantom lords). Kara says krypton was home to the hidden ones and that during the extinguishing of the sun she is the last survivor. sort of implying that Kal-el didn’t survive either.

Then we have the second version of earth 13 which made it’s comic appearance in “the guide to the multiversity” written by grant morrison in March of 2015.

We know less about this earths history but what we do know is that it’s an occult world with 13 hour days, 13 month years, and is in a perpetual state of twilight. In this world the league of shadows are the good guys. And we meet the whole league in multiversity #2

The league is lead by Superdemon, who rocketed to earth from Kamelot by Merlin. His league members are Annataz, Deadman, Enchantress, Hellblazer, Ragman, Swampman, Witchboy, and Fate (Jared Stevens). We only see 3 of them in action where Annataz speaks fully reversed sentences, and Fate and Etrigan dispatch vampires.

Personal thoughts:

I find the very different yet similar versions very interesting. I think they both have a lot of potential but I think itd be best to merge the two. Seeing as Arcane earth came first and Earth-13 is canon. I much prefer Silent Sorceress Zatanna but i think it’d be cool to make her a woc character like in morrisons version. Enchantress looks so cool, hellblazer does not. The others looks I’m indifferent about. I hate superdemon being the leader or this worlds superman because almost all of the other magic heroes could defeat him and that’s just facts. His backstory is a clever twist on the superman story but in my opinion Zatanna should be this earths“superman”. I like the 13 hour and 13 month thing but the sun should be magic like in the arcane earth history.

While i enjoy arcane versions of other characters, they should not be considered as powerful as the normal magic users. This is tge arcane, magic earth of the multiverse so the magic heroes absolutely deserve the spotlight and recognition as most powerful.
