when i watched doctor who series 9 i always thought the hybrid in the finale was actually referring to the doctor and Clara's relationship and not JUST them as a duo because a running theme in that season is that time lord relationships are deeper and more complex than human ones because the master and the doctor care about each other despite the constant hostility, there bond transcends time and space and human conventions of what it means to love somebody and they don't need a label to define what they are. while human relationships are simpler and can be put into boxes like "romantic" or "platonic", they can break easier meaning Missy and the doctor could never have a human relationship because it just wouldn't last The doctor is a time lord and Clara is a human which lands their relationship as a "hybrid" between human relationships and timelord relationships. she can threaten to throw the TARDIS keys into lava and he will still wait billions of years in a torture chamber for the slim chance she survives. He can kiss or hold her hand and they can hug and they can say they love each other without there ever being romantic feelings between them. He can abandon her in a time of crisis and she can threaten to slap him so hard he regenerates and it very nearly breaks their relationship, but it doesn't. When she's grieving he takes her to the afterlife to find Danny. When he's a scared young child she comforts him. But she still dies in the end because she's a human and he's a timelord

zoro's devotion to luffy is an important aspect in zolu but can we talk abouti luffy's FAITH in zoro. "you can never fail me." zoro would be like sorry for disappointing you captain and every fucking time luffy would be no no no you're perfect. that's how much luffy trusts zoro can you believe that. it's about raw confidence in someone to the point of no requirement for reassurance. luffy has nothing but faith in zoro.

Arospec sonic but in a fun way, he holds hands with some of his friends, he was Knuckles' first kiss, sometimes it seems he and Shadow or he and Amy are a couple of sorts to bystanders.

But in reality Sonic just expresses like that he uses his body a lot to express, Knuckles or Amy want a kiss, sure why not? he doesn't understand why those things have to be ALWAYS romantic when they don't necessarily have to be, they're just his closest friends, plus he knows it probably means the world to them and may tease Knuckles about it.

But he simply doesn't feel a romantic attraction, and they all understand that, he's just like that, no one will ever force him into being in a relationship, nor take advantage of how he expresses.

On the other hand, always being unable to speak, having his body be nothing but a killing machine, Metal struggles a lot to express his love for people, he is a hopeless romantic, but he has a hard time "fitting in" with the norm of how romantic bonds work.

He was never allowed to speak, but now that he can he voices a lot how much he loves Amy/Shadow [met/amy/adow for the win], he takes every opportunity to say or put it into words, he uses as much processing power as he can to calculate new ways to say it

He is detached from his body as something that can work as more than just being a weapon of destruction, but Amy and Shadow try to help him connect physically too.

They hug him take his hand and kiss him, because he struggles to do so himself, he appreciates it, as he learns his claws can do more than slice things, that his body is more than just a death ray or engine, that despite being made for warfare, he too can love.

Metal and Sonic may have something going on however, that doesn't fit too specifically with normal conventions, is it love, friendship, perhaps something different, whatever it is, Sonic too wants to help Metal feel welcomed, despite being sworn enemies before, he's always seen something in Metal, a spark of goodness amongst the evil of Eggman.

thinking about them (the tim kon bart trio)... they are a set, do not separate. they're aosbcart (assigned "one shared brain cell" at red tornado). they love each other. their hijinks are legendary. there's something wrong with each of them but their issues align with each other's. they invented humor as a love language

Lawlu concept, dom Law, sub Luffy. But they're still captains of their own ships so they've got stuff to do separately. Zoro helps with the long distance; Law on the transponder, Luffy getting rewarded or punished or played, and Zoro acting as Law's representative

It's still just Lawlu, it's just that Zoro is as devoted as he always is, giving his captain what he needs. Law's smooth voice is guiding him and talking to him & Lu, Luffy is still whining just to Law, Zoro is smirking and doing his first mate duty

I've been thinking of post-crash lottienat too much recently. They're fresh out of high school with nowhere to go. They're still traumatised from the crash and have nobody but each other. They live in a tiny little dilapidated apartment right next to a railway. Nat works in the little corner store two floors below while Lottie stays at home sewing and reading dusty old hardback books all day. They're domesticated and monotonous and completely codependent and I love them.
