#as a gamer i get the problem but as a tech guy. no no please keep making hyperrealistic graphics
Text
i fully understand we dont need ultra perfect realism in games but there is a part of my brain. that really likes pretty graphics. there is a part of my brain that sees how raytracing is evolving and giggles in unbridled glee. i adore stylized games more than anything ever (my current favorite games are ultrakill, ffxiv, hollow knight, celeste, and rain world) but MAN.

Tecna Headcanons
Tumblr media
Tecna Mode, the Guardian Fairy of Zenith would like to make your acquaintance.
She’s a tad sassy, a bit of a show-off when it comes to her projects, and a video game expert.
(All headcanons are for my main au verses, “Balance/New Company of Light” and “Left”.)
-Tecna tends to be reserved in her emotions, but just as her family knows, her friends (and Timmy) quickly learned that Tecna can be rather affectionate when she feels safe and loved.
-As a Zenithian, Tecna has an easier time learning new technological systems and how to rewire electronics.
-She also tends to be able to see at night. Not better than nocturnal animals, but better than most Magical Dimension people.
-Tecna is also somewhat immune to being electrocuted. Somewhat. (Lightning attacks by storm harpies and Stormy aside, electricity doesn’t bother her. In fact it sort of wakes her up.)
-Tecna is really close to her parents, partially due to her being an only child, partially due to her curious nature putting her in the middle of her parents’ work because she was determined to help.
-(She didn’t necessarily want to be an only child, and her parents had wanted another… But Magnethia had had a hard enough time getting and staying pregnant, that they felt Tecna was more than enough.)
-Tecna may have been a bit of a spoiled child… Her parents made sure to get her the latest technology when it came out, and they gave her her own workspace when she got older.
-As close as she was to both of her parents, she’s closest to her mother. Magnethia loves having Tecna help out at her and Electronio’s workshop. They have created many new gadgets and gizmos together, including specialized robots to do household chores. (Which is why Tecna has no idea how ‘obsolete’ cleaning tech like brooms and vacuums and mops work.)
-Because of Zenith’s climate, most animals and plants do not live/thrive there. So Tecna has had minimal contact with non-robotic plants and animals. Which led to quite a shock when she came to Alfea and saw all the greenery and the birds. (And Kiko and Flora’s plants.)
-Tecna, as a Zenithian, isn’t as bothered by the cold climates as other people would be. In fact, it’s the heat that bothers her.
-Which is why she’s not a fan of the beach. She doesn’t mind going and hanging out with her friends, but the heat and the sand and weird feeling of the ocean just sort of… Bugs her. (Which is why she stays more on the actual beach and wears specialized shoes to keep sand away from her feet.)
-Tecna has a major sweet tooth and has ‘borrowed’ from Stella’s secret stash of chocolates before. (Please don’t tell Stella…)
-She doesn’t like veggie meals much. It’s the textures and slight tangy tastes that turn her away from them. (And as a Zenithian, she doesn’t need them as much.)
-Physically speaking, she’s not in the best shape. She’s like… Bare minimum shape to pass Griselda’s and Real Avalon’s classes. (She’s decent enough at running away and decent at feats of climbing, but trying to be acrobatic or trying to physically fight with her fists or feet is difficult without her winx/fairy forms).
-She’s not a strong swimmer either. But Layla has helped her get to be decent enough that she can make it to her destination without getting herself hurt or drowned.
-Layla has also helped Tecna get better at dancing, which has in turn helped Tecna with her rhythm and dance video games. (Take that Rubis!)
-Tecna is extremely competitive when it comes to games. Video or board or card games with Tecna can lead to arguments and a smug Zenithian fairy. (Bloom even brought some from Earth to try and trip Tecna up… Monopoly and Uno are no longer allowed on Alfea’s school grounds. Thanks, guys.)
-She may not have the best grades at Alfea, but it’s not her fault… Well, not entirely. Okay so she could stand to study more… But her projects just need a little more tweaking. (Please Ms. Faragonda, understand.)
-Tecna doesn’t have the best handwriting… But her typing skills are out of this world.
-Tecna doesn’t have a big appetite, but when she’s hungry, just hand over the plate. (She doesn’t just get hungry, she gets hangry.)
-Everything has to have a place. Tecna’s workshops/workrooms may be messy and unorganized due to everything always being used, but her actual room and desk? Spotless. Everything put away neatly. (And she tries not to look over to Musa’s side of the room when they were still sharing a dorm. That’s not her mess or her side, it’s not her problem.)
-Tecna is sort of a mom friend. But she’s the sort of mom friend who will be telling you why what you did was stupid while she’s bandaging you up. (“Dammit Layla, I told you this would happen. Why did you think you could jump from that height without your wings?” “Musa bet I couldn’t do it.” “Why do I even bother?”)
-(Yes, Tecna has swearing problem. But only around friends or on her own. She tries to tone it down around parents or those who are in charge.)
-Digit, despite being just as big a gamer and tech guru as Tecna is, is also more in touch with her emotions (thanks to having roomed with Amore for so long). Which is great, because Digit helps Tecna naturally learn more about her own emotions without pushing or pressing. (And damn does it feel good to see Tecna and Timmy being more open with each other.)
-Tecna is unabashedly an anime fan. (Or at least, the Magical Dimension’s version of anime.) And she loves comics. (Which shocked her when Stella showed her her own collection. They may have a few get-togethers just to talk about their favorite comics now.)
-Tecna first transformed at 12, after trying to protect a younger cousin from an incoming snowstorm they had gotten lost in. Thankfully it helped her boost her power to signal for her mother and aunt.
-At Alfea, Tecna is part of the STEM club, anime club, robotics, and gaming club. Thanks to her and a few other Zenithian fairies, Alfea’s robotics club finally beat out Red Fountain’s.
-Speaking of Red Fountain… Tecna may have borrowed Timmy’s badge to enter into Red Fountain’s weaponry.
-(She was always curious about how Red Fountain’s weapons and ships worked, and the best way to figure that out is to take it apart and put it back together… She may have even upgraded a few things… Please don’t tell Saladin.)
-Tecna didn’t thrive as well as she claimed while in Omega. She just didn’t want her friends to feel guilty about not coming for her sooner.
-She understood why it took so long. And it was lucky that she was used to Zenith’s frigid temperatures. But it just… She did her best.
-She had to fight like hell most days, trying to keep herself alive and safe.
-And once she was back at Alfea… She had nightmares. (Which she logged into her tablet to try and help herself with later.)
-Eventually, during spring break, she went home and talked it all out with her parents. They had a hard time letting her go back to Alfea after that, but they knew they couldn’t keep Tecna from her education or from her friends.
-(The nightmares eventually faded a bit. But they still haunt her from time to time.)
-Before the whole Earth mission, Tecna and Timmy were one of the first couples to move in-together without any of the other members of their teams.
-They got an apartment on Zenith near their university. (They still go to their classes, though they take them mostly online these days. And they still keep the apartment, though it’s mostly a glorified work space now.)
-Tecna surprisingly gets along really well with Riven. They help each other with their respective partners and they like to build and work on projects together. (And play video games. They’re both super competitive and watching them go at it is like watching a train wreck. It’s awful but you can’t look away.)
-Tecna finds Flora to be the hardest to converge with. Their personalities and feelings on different issues tend to clash and it makes it difficult to meld together.
-Surprisingly, Tecna finds Stella to be the easiest to converge with. It’s like they just complement each other on a new wavelength.
-Tecna didn’t have any interest in music until rooming with Musa. After a few months into their rooming situation, she asked if Musa would teach her how to play an instrument because she felt it’d be cool to come up with her own soundtrack (for a video game project she’s been working on since she was like 12). Musa got Tecna a keyboard and the rest is history.
-She doesn’t get emotional about a lot of things, keeping a cool and level head to focus on facts is a Zenithian trait after all, but when someone messes with her projects or belittles her work or comes after the people she loves? You’re gonna get fucked, and not in the good way. (She has a real temper when she blows up, and people tend to get electrocuted.)
-Once they started their Earth mission, Tecna had to mentally fight herself every day to not upgrade or complain about Earth tech. (“Bloom… How the fuck do these people live like this?!” “Tecna…” “Please. Just one computer. Let me upgrade one computer.” “People will notice and we have to keep a low profile.” “Dammit Bloom!”)
-Tecna has several projects going on any given day, and since dating Timmy and having been bonded to Digit, they’ve been included in helping her with them.
-Most are gadget-based projects, things that girls need immediately or things that can help them. Some are robotics or engineering/vehicle based. But the one she’s the most proud of is the video game she’s still working on. (It’s almost done and she hopes to be able to publish it soon! Maybe sooner than expected since she’s got backing from Sky, Stella, and Layla.)
-Tecna’s main goal, after all this craziness with being a Winx Girl is over, is to take over her parents’ business and to further the Mode Brand of tech. (And maybe even expand into the video game departments. Depending on how her video game goes when she finally releases it.)

Listen to me!
Tumblr media
It takes me about fifteen minutes to go back to the mall, my mood has improved and it only gets better once I see the main entrance. Josh made this graffiti of a sunrise on one of the stores' windows to represent our tribe: Daybreakers. I thought it'd be cool to make a bigger version of it and hang it outside the entrance; so that's where it's proudly hanging.
"Where were you?" Alex walks up to me. "We just got a whole box of medical stuff, we need to store them!"
"Glad I didn't miss it," I grin.
As I make my way through I get a glimpse of the small little groups that have settled on the mall and that you probably wanna know about. We'll get there, don't worry. We have time. Right now I have to hurry.
'I fell in love again All things go, all things go Drove to Chicago All things know, all things know'
Wesley passes by, he sees me and hollers.
"Our Doc is back! Any good news, Y/N?"
"Take a guess," I smile brightly. "I have to go and store some things, but I'll see you in a moment, okay?" Wesley raises a brow.
"I don't see why not," He smirks. "I have my own business to attend right now, anyway..."
"What business?" I ask.
"We had this idea for a race across the mall and it's about to start. I'm supposed to be the one who gives the green light so I gotta get moving."
When he says 'we' I know he means Angelica, Josh and him, they're always doing this fun and exciting competitions, and it's been barely a week! They're supposed to make us grow closer, we're about 80 people here, which is quite a lot. A mix of cheeramazons, gamers, former jocks, and og daybreakers. But I know pretty much everyone personally, I have to, I'm their healer after all.
'We had our mindset All things know, all things know You had to find it All things go, all things go'
"Who brought all of this?" I ask Alex while we put the little boxes on each shelf.
"Leila and Tyler, they were doing their rounds when they found this a few blocks away, they're mostly from abandoned houses..."
"Good job, Leila and Tyler," I say in amazement.
"So how did your meeting go?" Alex raises a brow.
"Oh my god, I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders," I sigh heavily. "Sam finally accepted our offer, but there's a few things I need to talk with the others. I still think everything's fine, though."
"I'm glad, the jocks were the only tribe that was acting up, it was about time..."
"You know it was all Maya's fault. I hate her."
"Don't we all?" He snorts. "She's still living her best life?"
"Sam still has her there with her in the Queen's office, so of course."
"Y/N!" Angelica runs into the pharmacy and hugs me briefly. "Took you long enough! How did it go?"
"A total success," I grin, hugging her back. "But you know, since you're here I'd like to talk to you about some things the jocks are trying to get. I know you'll say no, but I'm still obliged to say it."
"So tell me."
"They're asking if it's on us to provide food for their movie nights."
"Fuck no! They have a full fuctioning orchard and they want us to give them more food?" Angelica frowns.
"It was Maya's idea," Alex says over his shoulder.
"Yes," I roll my eyes, "but Sam wasn't exactly against it, so I had to ask. I did tell them it wasn't likely to happen, so it's okay, we can say no, they agreed to it anyway."
"Good, because we won't agree to that."
"Done!" Alex turns around with satisfaction. "You can go and take off those skates. God, your poor feet must hate you."
"They're used to it," I laugh. "I won't say no to a well-deserved nap, though..."
"Now that we have all of those deals with the tribes, what's next?"
I'm about to answer when I see Josh approaching with his signature grin. He gets over to where I'm standing and lifts me off the ground in a swift movement. I'm aware we're being sickengly cute, but we're still in our 'honeymoon' phase, we tend to be cheesy. I laugh and put my arms around his neck before he puts me back down.
"How's your day going?" He asks me, clearly expecting to hear about the Jocks.
"Well, dearest leader," I smirk, taking off my backpack and rummaging through the papers. "I'm pleased to announce they finally accepted. They're trying to force us to provide the snacks, though. But all you have to say is no and that'll be it. Sam will understand, she's the one growing food, she can't expect us to give away ours."
"You're serious?" Josh asks. "That's awesome, Y/N! I knew you could do it!"
He leans down to kiss me, but before we even touch Angelica yells at us.
"Hey, if you guys can keep it in your pants for a moment," I hear her beside us. "KJ's looking for you at the gamers station."
"Oh," I frown. "What for?"
"I don't know, I think there's some problem with the signal, the gamers' WIFI is slower than the one in the cave so they're whiny about it."
"That's not something I can fix," I roll my eyes. "I'll go and listen to them."
"I have to go back to the Cheeramazon station," Josh comments. "I just wanted to know how it went with the Jocks."
"And here I was thinking you were glad to see me," I tease, and he chuckles. I put the notebook in my backpack. "Oh! Before I forget..."
I tell them about the Tribes book and how they'll send a jock at some point during the week to ask about the subdivisions and all. Angelica thinks is a bit silly but she agrees to receive the jock anyway, Josh agrees with it a hundred percent, he thinks this is the final step to become a real tribe. I agree, it took us a long time to find a home, we're happy.
'I was in love with the place In my mind, in my mind I made a lot of mistakes In my mind, in my mind'
When I find KJ I see that there's an actual crisis happening. Aria and her are arguing and they only stop when I arrive, both coming up to me at the same time.
"The wifi is-"
"I think someone is trying to hack-"
"–We can barely play tetris on this shit-"
"Hold on," I huff. "Aria, you said someone is trying to hack into your computer?"
"Not my computer, the whole net," Aria continues, pleased to see it was her concern the one I decided to talk about. "It's weird, and we're having comunication problems with the other tribes, the signal falls every half an hour."
"I'm no expert at tech," I frown. "Why were you wanting to see me?"
"She says it's my fault," KJ replies. "I helped Angelica with the set-up for the gamers division and the solar panels on the movie theater, she thinks I fucked up the signal."
"It's because we didn't let you join back into our lines, just admit it," Aria rolls her eyes.
"I don't want to be in your stupid tribe! I'm fine here!"
"Enough!" I interrupt them, "Aria, as much as we want to be good hosts while you're our guests, I must ask you to not start fights with the members of my tribe, the daybreakers will always be my priority. KJ, maybe try not to react so aggressively with our guests? Listen, I'll talk to Angelica so we can find a solution, I bet there's something we're missing here and I doubt it has to do with KJ's abilities. Give me two days, alright?"
Both girls nod, KJ glares at Aria one last time before leaving.
"We appreciate your efforts, Y/N," Aria tells me out of the blue. "I wasn't trying to be rude, it's just... even if Triumph is no longer a thing, there might still be threats out there, it's better to remain informed, and for that we need a strong internet connection."
"Yeah well, I'll see what I can do," I give her an awkward smile. "You think the cave's renovation's will be done anytime soon? Not that I'm kicking you guys out, I just... my kids are getting nervous about the lack of food and..."
"One more week and we'll go, I promise," Aria tells me. "We're working no it."
An hour later during lunch, after I tell the whole story to Wesley and Turbo, both seem happy that my meeting was a success.
'Is everyone alright?' Turbo asks me.
The cheeramazons and Josh have been teaching sign language to all of us, so Turbo's life is improving now that he can speak to more people than before. He's also healing, and if I manage to do things correctly, he might be able to speak again in a few months.
"The jocks are just fine," I reply happily. "Don't worry, Sam is taking good care of your boys and girls."
He nods, though I can see he's a little sad about being thrown away from his former home, I know how that feels like. Sort of.
"You know, Doc, I'm really proud of you," Wesley raises a brow. "You went for it, took a place in the community and slayed your demons, now look at you! You're a higher power in our youth!"
I laugh at his observation.
"I'm doing the bare minimum," I shrug.
"It's more than I ever did during my time with the jocks as second in command," He sighed. "But still, you should be proud, sister."
"I'll be, eventually," I say simply.
Before we can continue our chat Josh sits down next to me and offers me water, which I accept with a soft 'Thank you'.
"So what now?" He asks me.
"What do you mean?" I tilt my head.
"You made deals with every tribe there is, now what's the next thing on your list?"
"Keep them going," I reply matter-of-factly. "Just because they said yes doesn't mean it'll stay like that forever, you know? We gotta mantain our relationships healthy and strong, perhaps we could organize events for all the tribes to join us... like New Year's Eve, or another Prom night..."
"Woah, hold on there, Miss President," Wesley scoffs. "We gotta focus on our tribe first. Our food is lacking, so are our living space and medical supplies."
"Well perhaps is because you won't stop organizing dangerous competitions where half of our kids get injured, our supplies would be fine otherwise," I point out.
"Don't take away their joy, Y/N," Wesley says. "Turbo's with me in this one, right?" He turns to his boyfriend and the boy nods.
'Kids need the distraction' Turbo explains. 'So they don't start fighting each other.'
"I know that," I sigh. "We'll find a solution, okay? I'll think of something..."
"You look exhausted," Josh says worringly, he stands up and then helps me to do the same. "C'mon, let's take you to bed."
"Just don't be too loud, it's the middle of the day," Wesley yells at us from his place once we're halfway gone. Josh and I turn to him in outrage.
"Is not- we're not-" I try to say, but the words tangle in my head.
"I'm just walking her to the mattress store!" Josh replies, blushing. "I wasn't going to put my hands down-"
"Don't you dare finish that sentence," I say.
We share a look but we quickly turn away.
The thing is, Josh and I haven't had sex. We made out a couple times when we were alone, but those times are gone, more so with eighty people walking around the mall at all times. Besides, I've never had sex in my life and I'm terrified of the possibility of getting pregnant during the apocalypse, I mean, that equals to be asking for a painful, slow death.
Josh understands that, and he said he'd wait. He even said that if I never want to have sex that's okay too. But who knows if that's the truth, Josh is an eighteen-year-old. He won't be understanding all the time.
Now that Wesley killed the mood we walk in silence until we reach the mattress store, Josh puts a hand on my shoulder and looks at me, struggling to speak.
"I... uh-" He shakes his head lightly. "I..."
"I know," I say with a reassuring smile. "Wesley's joking. He knows we're not... that I'm not ready."
"I know that too," He frowns. "I... You know I care about you, right?"
"Of course," I grin. "Don't worry about it. I really want to take a nap, so is it okay if I go?"
"Yeah, totally," He removes his hand from my shoulder and gives me a shy smile.
I nod and start my way towards the nearest bed, but an arm grabs me by the waist and turns me around. Before I understand what's going on Josh's lips are on mine and he's kissing me.
It's a good kiss, firm and loving enough to relieve all the tension from my shoulders. When we part I see the softness in his eyes looking for approval. I let out a short laugh.
"What was that for?" I ask in amusement.
"Was it okay?"
"It was great."
"Good," Josh nods, still looking quite insecure. "Just making sure."
"Okay, you freak," I giggle. "See you in a while..."
When I wake up from my nap it's around 7 pm and I still feel a bit groggy. My phone rings and I pull it out to see a notification from Spotify. It's from the podcast the AV club has been doing for a while. I eagerly unlock the phone, it's a reminder that I haven't listened to the last two episodes and that last episode I heard ended in quite a confusing moment. I was afraid they'd been hurt, I'm glad to see that's not the case.
I like those kids, last time they did an episode to honor Eli's death. They also talked a bit about Hoyles but no one really ever liked Hoyles. Eli's part was sweet.
As I start listening to this episode Melissa says they're hiding from some kids in suits? And not many things make sense, why would they be following them? They also talked about their strange poly relationship but that wasn't the point.
The point is that the AV club was about to die, and there was no one listening.
I fearfully click on the next episode, waiting to hear they escape.
'I made a lot of mistakes I made a lot of mistakes I made a lot of mistakes I made a lot of mistakes'
"This isn't about spying like the germans gathering all kinds of intimate information," Melissa aka Harvard continues in a panicked voice, "and we are most definitely not being forced to do this by a tribe that has tak-"
The audio cuts there for a moment, but that's all the confirmation I need.
We have to save the AV Club.
"Josh!" I run out of the mattress store, looking everywhere. "JOSH!"
'You had to find it (I made a lot of mistakes) All things go, all things go (I made a lot of mistakes)'
"Wheeler!"
"Woah! Hey!" Josh's body crashes against me and stops with an amused smirk. "What's going on? Did you have a bad dre-?"
"We need to gather our kids now," I say quickly.
"What? Why?" He replies, stepping back from me.
I gulp, panic raising through my body and cutting my breathe.
"We're being watched."
Taglist.

Glitch Techs for the ask meme!
(Based on this meme.)
The first character I first fell in love with: Miko Kubota. She has the most unique design and the most fun personality on the entire show. I knew from the first preview that she was going to have some sort of loveable bubbly personality to her, and when I started watching the show, I was correct! Miko’s got a lot of energy, a can-do attitude, and probably some of the best lines on the show—thanks in part to her amazing VA Monica Ray, who up until now I had only know for her storyboarding work!
She’s not just a fun character, but a well-rounded fun character. She has a lot of enthusiasm, is quite cuddly, hyperactive, imaginative, incredibly skilled at video games, and love to think of things like one big video game. But it’s also clear that she’s still got one foot in reality, as shown by her family dynamic; she does try to avoid responsibility at first, but after becoming a Glitch Tech, she makes more of an effort to show them that she can be responsible and also makes an effort to be there for them like she was for her little sister in “Karate Trainer.” She also does her best to support Five on and off the job. What’s more, we get to see that she’s not a perfect perky girl: she hasn’t bested every Hinobi game (e.g. Castlestein), she screws up but also tries to own up to it, struggles to fit into her big family’s busy strict lifestyle.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Phil. We don’t know him too well yet, but I’ve seen enough to know I already like him. In a series lead by two wacky video game-loving teenagers, Phil is just an ordinary man doing his job, doing his best to make sure his insane video company doesn’t sink itself with its dangerous reality-warping technical problems and that said teenagers he hired don’t make things worse. Dan is actually a pretty competent boss when you get down to it, especially compared to his employers, who is patient with his employees—to a point—and relatively helpful. Except for when he overlooks the odd thing like the surprise inspection in the second episode or Miko and Five’s “stealth mission” in the ninth episode. His laidback character is a nice contrast to Miko and Five’s limitless energy, and his tired, cynical sense of humour is a welcome break from their “hip”, reference-heavy dialogue.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Don’t know about any hated characters that I’d defend.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Don’t know about any beloved characters I’d criticize.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: The show hasn’t been on long enough for me to get tired of anyone yet and I hope I never do. (*nervously looks at Miko and her fondness for made-up gamer slang*)
The character I would totally smooch: Ally. She’s a good birb who deserves to be spoiled!
The character I’d want to be like: High Five. He reminds me a lot of myself as I already am, considering that we're both huge dorks with an insecurity problem, but he also has some good traits that set a good example for young guys like me. He’s pretty responsible, puts others before himself, and always does a good job at his work. He’s smart, thinks things through, and is really good at making plans. Plus, he seems to have a pretty good work-play/family-job balance.
The character I’d slap: Mitch. Williams. He probably has a backstory that explains why he feels he has to be the best at everything that will garner some sympathy, but until then this guy is a creep, a bully, and a control freak. He also abuses his secret superpowered tech for the pettiest reasons in the first episode! This guy’s ego needs to take some major damage before I’m ready to give him the benefit of a doubt if you know what I mean. (If not, that’s alright. I have no idea what I just said either. How do Miko and Five talk like this, anyway?)
A pairing that I love: Miko X Five, although “love” is a strong word. I’m not all that eager to see them get together, but I do think that if they did it would be pretty cute. And yes, I’m aware that it is the only real ship in the fandom, as well as a contrived one at that. Don’t care. What’s cute is cute. I’ll take what I can get.
A pairing that I despise: Since there aren’t that many ships in the Glitch Techs fandom yet, thankfully, I can’t think of any. But just in case, please keep Mitch away from everyone until further notice. Please and thank you.

Amazing Quest 1: Chapter 3
The first half of Chapter 3. Thank you for reading!
Chapter 3: The White Devil Dies in Magma! You'll find yourself by a large dam that is blocking the flow of a large river. Approach the dam on the left side, and you'll see a building you can enter.  --Thoreau-Londo River Dam Complex-- Worker 1: Dammit, the water pressure isn't enough to excavate the giant! What is the General thinking? The river just doesn't have the power they need to cut through the solid rock! Worker 2: Redirect from the electricity generation for the towns, then! The generals want the giant ready for Heavenly King Kord! Worker 1: But the towns depend on that to survive! You know their crops can't grow without the generators! Worker 2: Do it! Worker 1: Fine.... (Pushes a button) Worker 2: It'll be fine, you'll see. It's better this way. (The two walk off) Ozma: How rude! Rulers shouldn't abuse their powers like this! Kimayawa: See? See? This is the extent of the Dark Puddings' Evil! This is why we need to rescue my nii-san! Hiro: Hey, hey, both of you, we need to be quiet now. I don't like the sound of that "Heavenly King" guy... You now can freely move in the dam complex, and , of course, it's filled with enemies, namely Dark Soldiers, Pudding Commanders, and Frenzied Conscripts. You'll find that Kimyawa is adept at putting all of these down, but her defenses are pretty much nil, so putting her behind Ozma or Hiro is advisable. Head down, following the pipes until you enter a crack in the wall. You now can get past the dam, and if you follow the pipes, you'll enter the Glacier Valley Caverns. If not, then if you follow the river upstream, you'll enter the town of Heston. It's up to you. I'll describe the process I did here. --Heston-- The locals here all mention a stranger with purple hair and a variety of swords. However, you'll need to talk to the village elder to proceed. Elder: A strange young man calling himself the hunter of swords came by here a week past, going to the Valley of Giants. Kimyawa: What was he doing there? Elder: Legends tell of a powerful weapon hidden there during the Age of Ice. I believe your brother went there to find it and use it on the dam. This dam and the workers there are killing our ability to grow crops. All they ever use the electricity for is excavating dark technology from the caverns downstream. Hiro: As contrived and two-faced as that explanation was, considering you mentioned the weapon in the Valley of Giants as being helpful, but mentioned dark tech in the caverns downstream, are you setting up a "Technology is bad" message, or a "People are Evil" message? Elder: Whatever makes you angrier. Hiro: Well, uh... Ozma: So, how do we get to that valley? Elder: Well, normally, I'd say, go through the pass to the north, but be warned. You'll have to go past Zaius, that town of damn dirty apes. Be careful. So, as the elder said, go north. Sure enough, there's another town to the north, Enter it to get to Zaius. --Zaius-- The townspeople here are all very surly, and several will outright attack you. After interacting with three people, you'll get another cut-scene: Hiro: What's with these people? Villager: You came from Heston, didn't you? Those culturally backwards savages! We're the future! Hiro: Oh, no...I think we just got into the middle of a culture war... Ozma: What's wrong with Heston? Villager: The real question is, what's RIGHT with Heston? They're the reason our continent is falling into the brink! Hiro: You're kidding, right? The Dark Puddings are on your doorstep, they're stealing your livelihood, and you're fighting your neighbors. What reason do you have to do that? Villager: They open bananas on the bottom as opposed to from the stem! That's not natural! Hiro: ... Ozma: Hahaha....uh... Kimyawa: Etto... Hiro: I'm leaving, this is getting too idiotic. Villager: Yeah, well, I bet you open bananas from the wrong end, too, ya deviant! This is important, as the next bit won't occur if you didn't enter Zaius. Also, you may want to go to Zaius anyways, as it has an upgrade in weapon and armor for both Ozma and Kimaywa (Serafuku armors, Ozma's brutal bracelets, and windmill shuriken for Kimyawa.) Now, enter the gap in the mountains to the northeast. (The party is blown to the ground by a lightning bolt, where a large moustachioed man appears) Man: FLASH! A-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Hiro: An enemy! Man: I am the Praetorian Dou. I am here under the orders of Lord Zoddon himself. You are not to get past me! --Boss Battle!-- Praetorian Dou LP: 5700 MP: 450 Praetorian Dou immediately enters Pudding Form, a Vanilla Wave Form, which makes him immune to fire and air magic. Therefore, don't use Flame or Sky Prana with Kimyawa, but instead use physical attacks, and employ Ozma's Table Flip technique, which has a chance of lowering his defense. However, once he gets down to quarter health, his body will solidify, and you'll do no damage, cuing up a cut-scene. --Boss Battle!-- Hiro: Our attacks are doing no damage! What did you do to your body? Dou: Hahahaha, Lady Jaydea's Heavenly Kings are a wondrous lot. For instance, Lord Kodas has unlocked our ancestor's genes and found all sorts of new ways to empower ourselves. This is one such way; Cornstarch Armor Thickening! Ozma: GASP! Hiro: Who actually SAYS ,"Gasp!"? Anyways, we'll be back! You see! Dou: Tata! You're now booted back to the pass. You then should make your way all the way back to the caverns. Enter them to find the Glacier Valley Caverns. --Glacier Valley Caverns-- The Caverns, are, as their name suggests, covered in ice. Thanks to this, the enemies found here (Frost Munchkin, Sneaky Skier, Ice Flies) are also ice-themed, leading to Kimyawa being even more powerful offensively here, as her Flame Prana deals massive damage to anything and everything. Continue to follow the path, and eventually, you'll find the pipes from the dam, which leads to gouts of steam. Be careful, as you'll get "Red" from being hit by them (Hahaha). After the busted pipes, you'll find a stairway. Descending, you'll enter into the solid rock with large machines humming along the walls, as they (Presumably) drill into the rock. Another Swarthy, mustachioed man: So, how is the progress on the excavation? Worker: Ah, Praetorian Reh, the digging is going well, as you can see, the White Devil is nearly completely excavated... (The camera pans up to reveal a large robot nearly dug out of the ice and rock that seems to have covered it.) Reh: Excellent! Lord Kord ought to be very pleased. With this, the World will be under us soon enough. Hiro: What IS that? Ozma: Um...Dunno! Astute gamers will note that that is in fact, a boss creature which has terrorized those who played Amazing Quest: Pudding Quarter, and many sigh a sigh of relief after having to deal with Lee afterwards. Yes, this is the Golden God Bardugos, the mechanical deity created by the Golden Tribe to protect themselves from the Puddings. But, that's neither here nor there. Approaching it causes another cut-scene. (The machine's eyes flash, and the entire complex rumbles.) Hiro: What did you all do? Ozma: Me? Maybe it was you! Kimyawa: Look out! (The machine lashes out with its arms, and rises up) Bardugos: I AM BARDUGOS THE GOLDEN GUARDIAN! SCANNING FOR GOLDEN TRIBESMAN. AFFIRMATIVE. (It leans down to Ozma) AWAITING ORDERS. Hiro: Say something! Ozma: Uh...um....Oh! Destroy the Dark Puddings in the area! Bardugos: AFFIRMATIVE. (The theme of Bardugos, "Golden Guardian of Genesis" blares, as lances of light surge forward, vaporizing the workers and soldiers around the party. Praetorian Reh: Impossible! The Guardian has awoken already? Wait, no! The Light Puddings! Bardugos: CLIMB ABOARD MY CHASSIS. I MAY PROTECT YOU, MISTRESS. (The party climbs inside the robot's chest as Reh approaches, sword drawn) --Boss Battle!-- Praetorian Reh LP: 5600 MP: 450 This fight is a cakewalk, Bardugos regains HP each round, and has stupidly high defense. In addition, its attacks are a spectacle to behold. One or two of any of them ought to slay Reh, but I am particualrly fond of Golden Guardian Slayer Fist myself. --Boss battle!-- Reh: NO! I can't let the Light Puddings gain control of such a weapon! (Reh draws a grenade from his cloak) Reh: LONG LIVE ZODDON! (Explosion that whites out the screen, leaving Bardugos untouched and the ceiling open) Ozma: The Dark Puddings are willing to sacrifice themselves for their goals.. Kimyawa: BAKA-BAKA-BAKA! Hiro: Let's go pay Dou a visit again... You now have access to Bardugos on the overworld, and he makes random encounters incredibly easy. Head north, back to the pass, where Dou will remain. Dou: So, you return? With a...Ohohoho, you have the Golden God that brother Reh was excavating. So clever. Come! Try your luck again! --Boss Battle!-- Praetorian Dou Redux LP: 6000 MP: 600 Dou's stats are slightly better, but that's no problem for Barudgos. Once hit should drop him into his Cornstrch form, and two more hits ought to do him in. No sweat. --Boss Battle!-- Dou: Aaaaaagh! (Explodes) Hiro: SERIOUSLY! Why does everyone do that? Ozma: Ack! Look! (THe explosion has caused magma to erupt out of the earth) Bardugos: ORDERS, MISTRESS? Ozma: Um...Um....Let us off! Bardugos: AFFIRMATIVE...(it drops Hiro, Ozma and Kimyawa) ORDERS? Ozma: Ah, um...Use your special attack! Strike the magma! Bardugos: AFFIRMATIVE (Charges its eye cannons, but the magma causes the robot to buckle and drop to one knee, making its laser fire at the dam, destroying it in a blossom of white light. The river then floods the surrounding area violently and cools the magma, encasing Bardugos in stone.) Ozma: Bardugos... Bardugos: Do not cry for me, Mistress. I have achieved my function...

Dimension Wave   Prologue
—Live another life in an alternate universe. Phase II of Project Second Life is live! Now accepting new participants, but hurry—offer ends soon!
“Whaddya think?”
The characters and background art were so realistic, they almost had me fooled. This feature took up seven pages in this gaming magazine, so it’s gotta be quite popular.
“I don’t know what to say…”
Two girls—actually, my older and younger sister—showed up out of nowhere with grins on their faces. They stuck this video game magazine in my face and hounded me over the article. Honestly, I have no clue as to what they’re trying to do. Well, I’d be lying if I said I had no interest in games. But the write-up seems to be about an MMORPG. I’m more of a fan of games like Harvest M○○n and Animal Cr○ssing. I like that comfy, casual pace.
“Ugh, you’re suuuch a bummer!” “I know, right?!” “…”
What’s with them? They’re so hyper. Even if it’s me saying, I think we get along well. We game together since both of my sisters are very into it. Well, it’s probably because of my influence on them, considering that I’m the only guy of us three.
“So? So? Whaddya think?” my younger sister asks me in a cutesy voice.
Her excitement is almost annoying, but since she’s my sister, I hold my tongue and continue reading the magazine pushed up against my face.
Dimension Wave
Looks like it’s an online multiplayer. Skimming through the pages, it looks like players get to work together with allies to fight off enemies. All their weapons, magic, and monsters are pretty typical too. Oh, you can also go fishing. I like stuff like that. It’s nice and relaxing. There are various races to choose from too. Oh? The description seems kinda odd. What’s this?
—Continuing with the well-acclaimed playstyle of the first phase, Phase II of the game will also not allow players to log out until the session has been completed. This further encourages players to fully experience a second life in the game. However, in-game time differs from real-life time. Though each session will require years of in-game time to be completed, it will translate to 24 hours of real-life time. This means that even players who are in full-time employment will be able to enjoy all of the content. We are now accepting new applicants, so don’t hesitate to sign up! Please visit the address below for details.
So it says. Oh, that’s right. I remember now. It was about a year ago when they caused a big stir. It was the guy who planned to create a whole “second life” thing in a VRMMO world.
And as it says in the magazine, months and years in the game will only be just a few hours in the real world. The game targets young professional. For the sake of giving them the chance to live a second life, players also can’t simply logout until the game is done. Content is released monthly to pretty high praise, save for a vocal minority. Or so I’ve read on a gaming news website. Even my buddies were raving about it after trying it out. Is it really that good though?
The problem is that people’s demeanors change after playing. I mean, if you spend seemingly years in the game, it’s bound to affect your personality. There’s even this disgraceful bastard who not only got a girlfriend in the game but is still going out with her IRL.
Fuckin’ normies!
… I should mention that cost of entry is rather high. Not only do you need special equipment, but the game itself costs a lot. After all, the developers and retailers need to make money. In short, it’s not spare change for a student at the very least.
“So? How are you going to pay for it?”
Honestly, even if you begged Mom and Dad for it, they’ll tell you off…
“Heh heh!”
My older sister remains reasonably excited and brings out an envelope. The Second Life Project is written as the sender’s address.
“No, you didn’t…” “I sure did! Here’s the acceptance letter.” “How did you get this? Who did you have to—” “Remember that tournament I won a while ago? This was the prize!”
She spoiled the answer but also my joke. The license was a prize for winning a tournament for this fighting game, which was made by another company of the same conglomerate. I’ve read that they’re making a lot of money lately. My sister definitely signed up the tournament just so she could get her hands on the license. It’s almost weird being related with these girls.
“Three people can sign up with one of these licenses, ya know!”
Here is my older sister who’s grinning from ear to ear and my younger sister who’s almost physically buzzing with excitement.
“Three people? That’s an odd number, eh?”
Isn’t it normally two or four? I’ve heard stories of couples who played together and came out with a stronger bond than ever. But I’ve heard that the game made things worse for some people too. In any case, it looks like I’m invited too. … wait, hold on.
“Hey, why don’t we put these up on an aucti—boof!”
Before I could finish my sentence, my right cheek encountered my younger sister’s fist.
“No way, you dummy!” “No, hear me out. Selling just one of these would give us enough money for a family vaca—boof!”
This time, it was left cheek, older sister.
“I believe I can leave the whole taking care of Mom and Dad thing until after I become a productive member of society.”
They sure are loyal to their desires. Well, it’s not the license is mine anyway, so I don’t really have the right to tell her what do with it.
“So, who’s player three?” “Huh?” they simultaneously interjected. “Hmm?”
The two girls stare at me as if I were speaking alien.
“Don’t you want to play too?” “Uhh, not really?”
It does sound interesting, but I’m iffy about VR games.
“And plus, I get kinda woozy from VR setups.”
VR machines and these fully-immersive online games have been sweeping through the gaming industry. Just before, the sci-fi subgenre of cyberpunk was very popular. Fully-immersive online games made a big splash when they first came out as it was almost as if cyberpunk has become reality. A large portion of gamers were very positive about it too.
Firstly—and I think a lot of Japanese gamers can sympathize—is that a lot of these physically-stimulating virtual reality games rub people the wrong way. For example, like how retro-styled games with pixel art are still really popular, people are used to gaming through a big TV screen. It’s hard to transition away from that concept. Even though I was born into a world where beautiful 3D games were the norm, I’m sure there were people who rejected the transition from pixel art to low-poly graphics.
Well, if that’s the case, I shouldn’t be opposed to these fully-immersive games.
Secondly, the games are very affected by the player’s brainwaves. It’s been recently proven that mental output and processing power vary greatly from person to person. In other words, a person’s ability to judge and reason have been proven, which is why fully-immersive VR games—games that depend on those functions—are heavily dependent on the player’s abilities.
To sum it up, there were gamers who were dissatisfied with the apparent unequal starting lines started cropping up. And excluding the small portion of people who physically and mentally fared well, the sales number weren’t so hot. Well, I guess it’s kinda like when touchscreens first hit the market. Those resistive ones weren’t so good and people didn’t love them. But as technology gets better, so will the performance of VR machines, and I’m sure it’ll then be a big hit.
Hmm, I swear I’ve heard someone tell me this before.
“Y’know, big bro, vat-type VR games have built-in brainwave normalizers so that anybody would be fine, right?” “Oh, is that right? I guess that’s why they’re so expensive then.”
Vat-types could be described as high-performance VR machines. They’re different than regular head-mounted display units hooked up to a computer. Vat-types connect the player by immersing them in a vat full of liquid in which humans can breathe. It’s really something straight out of a mad scientist’s lab. And to speak frankly, the reason why vat-types are invitation-only being because this is tech from the near future—it must cost a whole lot of money to operate.
“Well, I get that even I can play, but don’t you two have anyone else you could invite?” “It’s a ticket for three people! It’d be a lot more fun to go as siblings, don’t you think?” “Yup, she’s right!”
It seems like the three of us are closer than I thought. That makes me rather happy, to be honest. And so, that’s why I’ll be participating in Dimension Wave too.
The day has finally arrived. The three of us go to the venue by train.
Even though my sisters rushed me out of the door, a lot of people had arrived already at the event site. We brought a few things with us, including the license and a USB flash drive that was distributed to all the players. Stored in the flash drive was the data of our created characters. It takes quite a bit of time to customize a character, so they got us to do that ahead of time.
I made my macho mountain of muscles about three days ago. Swole characters aren’t ordinarily popular, but I think they’re cool.
Humans, Lycanthropes, Elves, Jewels, and Spirits were available choices for your character’s race and I chose to make a Spirit. Spirits don’t have levels, HP, or MP, so it makes them pretty special among MMOs. They had a bit of information on their official site, but I had to figure most of that out by myself. Jewels seem interesting too, but I ultimately decided on a Spirit.
I like the unique races.
As for my sisters, the older one picked Human and the younger Lycanthrope. I didn’t ask them, but they told me anyway.
“Oh, looks like they’re starting to let people in.”
Even before I had said that, those two were already restless and had begun heading inside. And why am I at the end of the line anyway? Eventually, I handed one of the three passes to a staff member and got in return a key with a blue plastic number tag attached to it. Then, we were split into two lanes—one for men, one for women.
“See you later.” “See ya!”
I waved them a simple goodbye before heading into the men’s changing room. It’s pretty big in here. I opened the locker with my number on it and found a set of clothes inside. Before the event, we were told to send in our measurements along with our authorization codes so that they can get it tailored to us.
I put my valuables inside, though that consists of only my phone and wallet, and put on the special clothes. It looks like a plugsuit straight out of an anime or something. It’s really elastic. The guys beside me are being awkwardly silent changing into their suits. But even without saying, I can tell they’re thinking of the same thing. I think they used to submerge you in the nude, but after some criticism, they came out with these tailored plugsuits. They even contain emergency life-saving measures. That’s probably one of the reasons why it’s so expensive as well. After changing, I double-checked to make sure my locker was locked and then hurried out the door.
“Whoa…”
The vats lined up row by row was really a spectacle seemingly taken out of a mad scientist’s lab. They’re actually pretty big, even though it’s just for one person. It’s as big as my bed at home.
“Let’s see, let’s see.”
There’s a large sticker placed instructing which way to stick the USB flash drive in and how to shut the door. It’s so simple, anyone can get it right with a quick glance. I plug in my flash drive into the port, hopped in the vat, made sure the door was closed, then slowly lied down. There’s still 10 minutes left until it starts. I take the time to think through what I’ll do in the game.
The two of them mentioned that they were picking a combat class, but I had other plans. I’d think I’d like to try the fishing activity that was in the magazine the other day. I know it might be a bit weird to just fish in an MMORPG, but the whole point of this game is to live a second life, right? I’ll live it leisurely. I haven’t thought much about what’s after though. I’m sure I’ll find a goal while I play. Just as I was thinking about that, I suddenly remember that they had an event called Dimension Wave going on, just like the title. I totally forgot about it up until now. I still have to decide on whether or not to participate, but I’m sure my sisters will. I’d like to at least play support for them.
“Oh?”
Time snuck up on me while I was lost in thought. An announcement played as they started to pump the liquid in. It’s green, I thought… but it was just the reflection of a light inside the vat. On second inspection, it’s actually colorless. The vat filled up in a flash. I’ve subconsciously held my breath, but I can naturally breathe in the liquid. What a shock. I really can breathe. Honestly, I wasn’t actually sure until now.
—Reading data 0%・・・100%. —Data import complete. Beginning brainwave normalizer load test.
I can see it. Rather, it’s being projected straight into my brain. A scene prettier than reality appears before my eyes. Lots of people are walking in the streets of this fantasy town. The sound is coming through too. I hear everything from the male voice of the shopkeeper to the noise of shuffling feet and footsteps. In normal VR systems, you get the tiniest hint of lag, even if it’s not much. But in here, not only is it running without so much a hitch, the fidelity is extremely high. That’s specialized equipment for ya.
—Test complete. Game will begin after all processes complete.
It’s a weird feeling. The voice goes directly into your head without me needing to use my ears. I was thinking that I’ve totally entered a sci-fi world, but tech in the real world is more advanced than I thought. I guess you could call it being excited, but oddly, I couldn’t calm down and stop looking around everywhere. But right as I do so, everything disappeared.
“That can’t be good.”
I’m not just talking about vat-type machines, but when any piece of electronic suddenly goes black like if you yanked the plug out, it kinda makes me feel weird. It’s like as if the world that I’ve been living it just suddenly disappeared.
And then—
—Best wishes to your new life!

These senior citizen YouTubers are better than anyone else on this hellscape internet
Tumblr media
The typical YouTuber is young, obnoxious, and speaks at an above-average decibel level. They love pranks. They love covertly selling you *products.* Even though they're your age or vastly younger, they have more money in their bank account than you ever will.
Thankfully, not all YouTubers like that. This Thanksgiving, I'm grateful for the dedicated community of senior citizen YouTubers, here to make homemade pasta, deconstruct mechanical toys, play lullabies on their guitars, knit, apply make-up, and show you how to properly take a dip in the public pool.
SEE ALSO: Logan Paul isn't the only problem. YouTube is broken — here's how to fix it.
If you're going to be an influencer, at least use your power to show Xennials like me how to make proper tagliatelle.
For all their wisdom and *actual content knowledge,* senior citizen YouTube celebrities are nonetheless a rarity. The demographic data tells the story: 96% of youth aged 13 to 17 have used YouTube, compared to just 51% of those 75 and older. Just 67% of seniors aged 65 and over use the internet, and only 4 in 10 own smartphones.
So we shouldn't be shocked that of the biggest names in YouTube — Fernanfloo, PewDewPie, Germán Garmendia, Rubén Doblas Gundersen i.e. El RubiosOMG, VanossGaming, and so on — all are male, and none, absolutely none, are above the age of 30.
That doesn't mean senior citizens are absent from the platform, or that younger generations don't love to watch older folks on screen. I know that I, for one, am not alone in not wanting to hear this guy opine about suicide prevention:
You just have to look a little harder to find the elders of the community, which we kindly did for you. Here are some of the leading senior personalities on the platform:
1. Tricia Cusden, Look Fabulous for Older Women
youtube
70-year-old Tricia Cusden formally kicked off her YouTube account and her personal make-up business, Look Fabulous Forever, five years ago. Cusden specializes in make-up made specifically for older women.
Cusden remembers when her manufacturer told her to put videos of her products on Twitter:
"I thought, that's a really stupid idea," Cusden told Mashable. "Millions of videos are uploaded to YouTube, people just won't see them."
Pretty quickly, however, Cusden's videos started picking up real traffic: 1,000 views one day, 1,500 views on another. It was clear that Cusden had tapped into a real need — and that older women were (gulp!) using YouTube.
Cusden believes she was able to access this demographic because her product line was written up in print publications, which have older followers. These women presumably then followed her to YouTube.
youtube
In comparison to other brands that market token "anti-aging skincare" to older women, Cusden hopes to create a positive, stigma-free YouTube space:
"The beauty industry disdains and marginalizes this age group ... [but] we won't disparage you here," Cusden says. "We won't be negative."
Cusden's channel currently has 28,340 subscribers.
2. Judy Graham, Knitting Tips by Judy
In recent years, knitting has had something of a comeback among the millennial Etsy set. But why learn from some dumb book when you can learn from *THE* Judy Graham?
youtube
Graham is a knitting legend. She's now in her 80s, and she's still producing videos nearly every week. In 2015, Graham complained to her son that it was a myth that all seniors hated technology.
"Seniors do know about tech, and they do use it," Graham told her son, who later published her comments in USA Today.
Not everyone who watches "Knitting Tips by Judy" is older. She has plenty of younger fans (points at self).
youtube
If there's anything that Judy proves, it's that you don't have to be a young, terrible California bro in order to be successful on this nightmare platform.
3. Tim Rowett, Grand Illusions
youtube
For all the optical illusion and unusual toy fans out there (I'm assuming that's everyone on this list), Tim Rowett is your man.
Rowett's YouTube channel, Grand Illusions, collects and reviews dozens of random toys. It's whimsical and strange and exceedingly, unexpectedly popular: The channel currently has over 881,000 subscribers.
In 2015, the Telegraph named Rowett one of the best YouTubers over 50 years old.
The award was well-deserved. Is there anything more soothing than hearing a handsome older British gentleman with a BBC accent examine the mechanics of a bubble blower?
youtube
4. Pasta Grannies
youtube
There's no such thing as a dream job, except for Vicky Bennison's. Bennison is the founder of Pasta Grannies, a YouTube channel featuring Italian grandmas making their best homemade pasta.
Bennison, who is 60, literally travels all around Italy hunting for the country's most talented grandmas. Every episode, she highlights a particular grandma and their specialty pasta.
youtube
Pasta and Italian grandmas are universally beloved, which is why Bennison's show has such a diverse, cross-generational audience. These women aren't trained chefs, but they're exceptionally talented and they know what a good pasta serving size is: one gallon per person.
"What you see on television requires armies of food stylists ... These are things all people can do," Bennison told Mashable. "[It's why] I do have a broad audience ... My demographics for Pasta Grannies is 25 to 65 years old."
Some of these grannies are in their late 90s. Yet with more 341,913 subscribers, Bennison has nonetheless been able to build a digital fan base for these women.
youtube
Pasta Grannies, you are welcome in my home anytime.
5. Bossa Nakane
youtube
Though he probably wouldn't classify it this way, Bossa Nakane makes lullabies for stressed-out adults. This man is a nightingale. His music is delightfully tender: Think Nick Drake, but sung by a human robin.
Why would you ever sing "Happy Birthday" yourself when you can have the Bossa Nakane version instead? He's better.
youtube
He currently only has 3,174 subscribers. Everyone, please follow now.
6. ElderGym
youtube
ElderGym is the only YouTube fitness series on the web I'm capable of completing. A 4-minute session on how to get off the floor? This I can do. March in place for 1 minute? Hell freaking yeah. ElderGym isn't just for seniors, it's for everyone.
youtube
Squeeze your shoulders for 1 minute. Congratulations! You've exercised.
youtube
7. Grandma Shirley
youtube
Anyone who's anyone in the senior YouTuber world knows Grandma Shirley, an 82-year-old gamer who records herself playing games for YouTube, among other places. She's best known for playing Skyrim and currently has over 410,000 subscribers.
youtube
I've never understood the appeal of watching other people play games (why watch strangers play Grand Theft Auto when you can watch ... anything else) but if I'm going to watch anyone, it will be Grandma Shirley.
8. Grandpa Kitchen
Grandpa Kitchen operates a YouTube channel where he cooks enormous amounts of Indian food and feeds if to local orphans. The channel currently operates a Patreon page in order to fund their operations; however, I was unable to independently verify how that money is spent.
That being said, Grandpa Kitchen runs an excellent show. Look at all those potatoes. How can they not make you happy?
youtube
9. Gramma and Ginga
Gramma and Ginga are two sisters, one 104 years old, the other 99. They live a few blocks from one another in Clarksburg, West Virginia. If you're the type of person who loves to see two charming older women bicker non-stop about nothing, this is for you.
Think Seinfeld, but with Grandmas.
youtube
Imagine a comedy podcast but the podcast were ... actually funny. That's Gramma and Ginga.
youtube
These women currently have 325,684 subscribers. In 2016, they made it to Jimmy Kimmel Live.
10. Kevin and Lill
I tend to be skeptical of anyone on YouTube who has more than 500,000 subscribers and says they create "comedy." Historically, YouTube comedy is an art form lower than improv.
Kevin and his objectively charismatic grandma Lill are an exception to the rule. We talk a lot about YouTube personalities but Grandma Lill actually has one.
As the kids say, she destroys me.
Look at her make chocolate chip brownies with her grandson Kevin, then try to pick yourself up off the floor.
youtube
Perhaps my favorite part of the series is when she introduces the episode, saying, "Hi fellas and girls."
Just listen to it instead of reading my far inferior copy.
youtube
Grandma Lill says she didn't really know much about YouTube before her grandson turned on his camera one day in the car:
"I was surprised, but I said, 'Hey that's good!'" Lill told Mashable.
You'd think that Grandma Lill would be an inspiration to her friends, many of whom are in the same age bracket.
Grandma Lill doesn't think so.
"My girlfriends if they don’t have grandchildren [with access to technology] — they could care less about what I do! They don't care where I'm going. They don't have YouTube, Instagram."
She also doesn't particularly care how they feel. If there's someone out there she can inspire — even if it's not her best girlfriends, even if it's just herself — she's happy these videos exist.
"It keeps me younger," Lill told Mashable. "I feel like 65 instead of 88 now. Nobody can believe I'm 88 ... We're just so good."
A heartfelt thanks to *65*-year-old Grandma Lill and all the YouTubers like her.

Dva/bridgette, "Built" (cuz my girl lindholm is built as fuck amiright)
last but not least of that inbox game, because I couldn’t just write a summary for this. I’ve never even considered this ship, but I am delighted.

“Built”Dva/Brigitte
Hana Song lay slumped across the hoodof her mech, defeated.  What was it that had finally felled thisintrepid hero, so much beloved by the South Korean people and theworld of online gaming?  A hoard of omnics, overwhelming in numbers? A final battle, glorious in its ultimate failure?  A moment ofreckless bravery that for once she wasn’t clever and lucky enough tosurvive?
That, at least, might have been moredignified.
Currently, Hana Song was laid low bya technical difficulties.
She had only been with Overwatch afew months so far, and it was both everything she could have dreamedand nothing she had expected.  They were doing so much work. Hana valued what she contributed to the front lines of the Crisis,of course, she was here first and foremost to defend her people, but… sometimes when you were getting up every morning and beingdeployed again and again before a persistent press of omnics, youbegan to feel like you weren’t making any headway.  A constant grindwith no objective in sight.  Overwatch was different.  Overwatchwasn’t just playing the game, it was rewriting the rules.  It wasexciting.  It wasfull-tilt, life-or-death, world-hanging-in-the-balance sort of work, and Hana was thriving.
Hermech, unfortunately, was not.
Because this wasn’t Overwatch of thegolden days, this wasn’t like the heroes her dad had told her storiesof as a girl.  They had no funds, no support, no legitimacy.  Winston(an actual, talking gorilla, how cool!)was sending out hooks all over the world and they were getting bites– people were slowly, covertly, trickling in, but it meant that thegreat workshops of the Gibraltar Watchpoint were almost entirelyempty.  One corner, near the massive bay doors, now housed her andher mech.  Over these months, she had been alone in her efforts torepair the damages as they appeared; she fixed what she could andignored the rest.  But now that one of the mech’s arms had gone dead(in the middle of a fight too, with everyone watching!  Uh, she musthave looked like such an amateur) she couldn’t really look the otherway anymore.  Something needed to be done, and she couldn’t figureout what it was.
In anothersection of the room, Lucio had a table that was covered in wires andtubes – for maintaining his skates and amp.  He smugly told her allabout how he’d pilfered and repurposed the tech from some companycalled Vishkar, and he at least seemed to know what he was doing. More so than her at any rate, though even he had been rather helplesswhen she’d brought her mech problems to him.
Then there wasthat weaselly guy, Junkrat.  Hana wasn’t sure how she felt about him. He could be pretty funny, but she also couldn’t shake the feelingthat if push came to shove he wouldn’t hesitate to render her asmoldering crater.  He was given a space the furthest away fromeveryone else and very explicit orders from Winston about conduct. Because Junkrat?  He worked with explosives.  Hana didn’t know muchabout explosives beyond the “stick in mech, fire at omnic” sideof things, but she couldn’t help but feel that someone so… twitchyshouldn’t be messing with them.  She knew for a fact that he wassomeone who shouldn’t be messing with her mech.
And then therewas that short, grouchy guy, Torbjörn.  His portion of the workshopwith filled with a massive forge and huge work tables – he was theonly one who really seemed to know what he was doing in here, theonly one not self-taught or learning on the fly.  He had a tendencyto mutter when he caught anyone else trying to work in the shop, asif they were all just little kids trying to play with lego in hisworkspace.  Rude.
Though, Hanathought, rather moodily as she kicked her feet accusingly against thehull of her mech, she did feel a bit like that right now, like a kidpretending to know what she was doing.  She was a soldier though, nota mechanic!
The fact of thematter was simple and unavoidable: the mechs weren’t made for thesort of sustained abuse.  Normally, with MEKA, they hadmicro-rotations.  They’d be deployed, hit hard, and as soon as thebattle was finished or relief was deployed, the previous pilotsreturned so that the mechs could be serviced, strengthened, andreadied for the next deployment.  After a certain number ofrotations, the entire mech would be replaced with a new one.  Themechs were made to take damage, but they were still complicated, delicate machines and for that sort of tank role to be maintained, the mech must be as well.
Sowhat options did that leave her?  She was, technically,on loan to Overwatch.  Sort of.  It was very hush hush, under thetable.  Overwatch wasn’t supposed to be operating at all, but someonein the South Korean government (or military, or something) must havedecided that if the omnic-crushing force of old was looking toreassert itself, it would help to have Overwatch as friends.  Hanawas very aware this was conditional though.  If it looked like thingswere going to go bad with Overwatch, or if it became too complicatedor too inconvenient, all association would be denied and she wouldget pulled… and that had quickly become an unacceptable outcome. She needed to be here. So she really didn’t want to ruffle feathers with HQ by requestingher mech be taken halfway across the world for servicing.  So thatleft figuring it out herself, or capitulating and asking Torbjörn. He got a funny look in his eye when he stared at her mech though, andso far she had avoided letting him feel it up.
It might be acase of the lesser of two evils though, she had to admit.
She was savedfrom needing to confront this sad reality by the sound of theworkshop doors sliding open.  Without looking up, she called out“That you, Lucio?  Please tell me you had an epiphany because Idon’t know what to do.”
“Uh, sorry todisappoint, but I’m not Lucio,” said a clearly strained voice, itsaccent one that sounded familiar but which Hana couldn’t quite place. Given that this was a secretive paramilitary base on a mountain thata bare handful of people had access to, this was alarming.
It was with thisshock that Hana jerked up and swung herself around, peering down fromher mech to stare at this strange newcomer.  It didn’t actually tellher much, because the person was almost completely hidden behind atowering stack of strangely shaped hunks of metal.
“Who are you?”demanded Hana, before she could think better of it.
“Brigitte,”said the person as she staggered across the room.  “BrigitteLindholm.”  It was strange, there was something asalmost-but-not-quite familiar about her name as about her accent.
Brigitte wasstill talking though, “Is Reinhardt in here?”
“Who?”
“Ofcourse he isn’t,” she grumbled.  “He saidhe’d bring the rest of the armour in here so I could get set up andstart repairs but no,of course not.  Uh, knowing him he’s found some old friend.  I washoping to avoid that until we got set up, or else I’m never going topry him away.  You have no idea how much that man can talk.”
Hana slipped downfrom the hull of her mech and landed heavily on the ground.  “Who’sReinhardt?  Are you new members?  Do you need any help with that?”
Brigitteseemed to take the barrage of questions in stride.  “Massivebonehead,” she said.  “Also just massive, trust me, you can’tmiss him.  And, uh, yeah, kind of new memebers, I guess?  Lena justdropped us off like twenty minutes ago.  I mean, technicallyReinhardt used to be a member before and he’s coming back – again, because he’s a bonehead – andso I guess I’m here too.  Dad’s going to throw a fitbut I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.  And oh god, yesplease.”
Hanawas already reaching for whatever was in this new woman’s arms and sodidn’t register the following warning: “Be careful, this stuff ispretty heavy–” until she’d tried to heft one of the pieces, wascompletely thrown off by exactly howheavy it was, and promptly dropped it on her toe.
It was a goodthing she was the only one who spoke Korean on the base; her tonguehadn’t exactly been squeaky clean as a professional gamer but joiningthe army had not helped matters and there was nothing like anunspeakably number of kilograms of metal falling on your foot toencourage one to show off that sort of vocabulary.
“Sorry,” saidBrigitte, “let me just…”
With a deafeningclattering, the rest of the woman’s load was dumped onto the nearestwork table, and Hana got her first real look at Brigitte Lindholm. She promptly forgot about the pain in her foot.
Ittook her a moment to remember to close her mouth because wow…which had pretty much been the first thought in her head.
Thesecond thought had been: arms. Because Brigitte definitely had those.  Two of them.  Two very, very, very musclyarms. Yes sir.
Hana doublechecked to make sure her mouth was closed.
Brigitte was alsogetting her first look at the room.
“Wow,I’ve heard stories of this place but it’s really nothing likeactually being in here, you know?  Seriously, there is so muchroom… nothing likethe Ironclad Guild, but considering I’ve been working out of a truckfor the past few years this is like – whoa!  Whoseis that?”
At first Hanaassumed she must have caught sight of Lucio’s gently thrumming amp, which was partially disemboweled and casting beats of yellow andgreen light across the ceiling, or the terrifying toxic waste dumpthat was Junkrat’s corner, so she felt herself swelling with pridewhen she realized Brigitte’s gaze was hard-locked on her mech.
“Mine,” shesaid, as if it was no big deal, what girl doesn’t have a spare, million dollar, top-of-the-line battle mech sitting around.  “I’mHana.  Hana Song?  Top pilot in MEKA?”
“Ohmy god, I’ve never seen one up close before,” said Brigitte, alittle breathlessly.  “These are amazing. Like a mix between power armour and proper battle ship – you’vegot the protective hull of an armoured assault vehicle, but way moremobile than anything imaginable in that class… it’s even got theCrusader beat on that front.  It’s almost as versatile as powerarmour, but it’s not going to crumple like paper towel if it getscaught in a firefight.  These are brilliant. And adapting them to be piloted by people – MEKA is seriouslyworking on a different level with these.”  She rounded on Hana, hereyes gleaming with fascination and admiration; Hana beamed rightback.  “And you actually pilot it?  It must be unbelievablydifficult… it was originally designed to be run as a drone afterall, the sheer number of functions for one human to keep on topof…”
Hanashrugged with as much modesty as she could muster.  “I was thenumber one StarCraft player for three years in a row.  That’s whythey went for gamers, you know?  Better response times, multitasking,on the fly strategizing, working in teams and solo…  It was apretty natural transition, when you’ve got a knack for it,” shesaid, leaning against one of the mech’s pink legs.  This would lookmuch more impressive if she was actually wearing her flightsuitrather than the grease-covered work jeans and a baggy old sweatshirtthat used to be her father’s, with a faded picture of a droolingmurloc printed on it.
Thenagain, Brigitte was wearing what looked like steel-toed boots and ashirt with the sleeves (gloriously, gloriously)torn off so maybe Hana could pass this off as an aesthetic and notjust grubby laziness.  She wouldn’t know unless she tried, right?  Sowith the same sort of confident bravado that Hana faced most of theproblems in her life, she jumped in feet first and hoped for a goodlanding.
“You,uh… you want me to show you around?”
“Absolutely!”
Hanacould have crowed with delight.  Nailed it. Of course, the next problem was that this was a compact,single-person mech and there was only so much “showing around”that you could do, but Hana would happily use it to stall for timeand she thought out her next smooth step.  Besides, she loved talkingabout her baby.  With practiced ease, Hana used one of the mech’sarms to swing underself up onto first it’s crouched leg, and then soshe was perched in the crook of its elbow.  Brigitte followed suit, and Hana tried to resist watching the swell of her biceps as her feetsearched for purchase on the mech so she could haul herself up.
Andso Hana talked Brigitte through the ins and outs of the battle mech. Brigitte peered in at the complex array of controls inside thecockpit, listened in rapt fascination as Hana described its featuresand the battles she’s seen with it.
Soonit became much less about impressing a really gorgeous woman, andmore just… talking.  Brigitte was really, really nice.  She laughedeasily, and had a sharp, snide sense of humour, and kept up with Hanaeffortlessly as she got into the more interesting minutia of themech’s features.  Oh, lots of people were interested in here theexploits of Hana Song, South Korean MEKA defender, and they would oohand aah at all theright parts when she told stories about being flung into the ocean bya towering, twenty foot brute of an omnic, or when she had had notchoice but to self-destruct her own mech, barely escaping that onewith her life, but she had never had someone stop her mid-tale to askabout the actual model variants of said omnic or what expulsionmechanism the mech used that managed to get her clear of such ablast.  It wasn’t even annoying to be interrupted – it wasexciting.  Likesomeone was taking the time not to speed run the conversation but topoke around and unlock all the secrets along the way.  Or something.
Completelyoblivious to the emotions banging around in Hana’s head, Brigittepeered at the newly upgraded missile system Hana had been pointingout and said, “I knew I was behind on the latest and greatest, since I was following the big guy around the boonies for the past fewyears boonies, but how did I miss this? MEKA must have gotten a new energy core if they managed to pullsomething like this off!  Keeping this thing mobile, flight-capable,and defensive was already pretty much clocking their core as much asyou could safely expect… how the heck they did keep all that up andadd a missile system?  I mean, you can’t just go make the core biggerwith a living pilot in there, that’d be getting way to chancy.”
Hana rolled hereyes.  She’d commented about the mech’s wimpy power core before, senther complaints as far up the chain as she could manage, only to get areply back telling her to stop being a fool-hardy daredevil thatwanted to throw her life away and to smarten up… or, well, theprofessional, military equivalent.  It seemed to her the only way abigger power core would really be that much of a compromise was ifyou were letting omnics blow you up, and Hana had not intention ofletting omnics blow her up, thanks, so really it was a non-issue. High risk, high reward.  But whatever.
“Nope, sameold, same old,” she told Brigitte.  “It was more of a remodeling. I’m the first to test it out.  We diverted some of the power thatwould have otherwise been used by the defense matrix and fed it tothe missile systems.”
Brigitte’seyebrows went up.  “What?  You’re compromising defense for this? But the defense matrix is one of the things that actually makes amech remotely viable against heavy projectile damage, otherwiseyou’re just a big,” she gestured vaguely to the mech, “pinktarget waiting to blow!”
“Pssh,no.  We’re supposedto be mobile, that’s the whole point!  We’re not there to shield,we’re there to hit hard and fast and get out before too much damageis laid down!  The defense matrix just makes us sitting ducks –with the missiles we can actually attack from a distance beforeneeding to get up close.  Waybetter strategy, trust me.”
Brigitte hummed, but seemed to be considering it.
“Any chance Icould see a test run?” asked Brigitte.  “I’ve only ever seenvideo.  I’d love to see it in person.”
“Absolutely!”said Hana, without hesitation.  How was she supposed to say no tohaving the admiring gaze of a cute girl on her while she did what shedid best?
And then came thecrushing recollection of why she was here in the shop in the firstplace.  The arms, while not as crucial for movement as the thrustersystem, still acted a little like rudders; they were directionconnected to the yokes which controlled all movement.
…Still, it didmean flying the mech would still be doable, even with one arm down. A little clunky, maybe, but she’d managed to get herself through thatlast battle with it down, right?  And it’s not like there would evenbe Talon agents trying to shoot her down this time.  It would befine.  Completely fine and totally work it.
She hesitatedagain.  Common sense was screaming at her to listen for five seconds.
Because on theother hand, she couldn’t help but suspect that an genuine, bona-fidemechanic might not think it was brave or daring or romantic to getinto a damaged craft and push it even harder rather than runningmaintenance.
Damn her and herbad luck.  She was going to have to say “no sorry, I broke thesuper cool mech and am grounded” and watch this amazing woman say“oh no problem” and then remember she had her own work and leaveand never get another chance to talk to her.
Better thannever getting another chance to talk to her because you fly yourselfoff the cliff face and burn to deaths on the rocks below, hermind rebuked, in a voice that sounded frustratingly like her father.
“Actually, Ican’t,” Hana admitted bitterly.  “I’m having some issues with oneof the arms.  Kinda goes past my expertise.  I’m probably going toneed to contact MEKA and see about getting it replaced or something.”
“Well you’realready doing better than Reinhardt on that front,” said Brigittedryly, with a nod towards the pile of metal she’d hauled in.  “Youhave no idea how long I’ve been hounding on him to take a break andget some actual replacement parts for that scrap metal he keepsinsisting on strapping himself into.  But it you like, I could take alook at the mech with you?  Maybe we can figure out what’s wrongtogether.  No idea when Reinhardt’s going to actually show up and Ican’t work until I’ve got the rest of the armour, so I’ve got time. We could make an afternoon of it, get to know each other a littlebetter.  And give me an excuse to dig into some really awesome tech,”she said cheerfully.
Hana couldn’tactually believe her luck.  This was too much.  “You know how oneof these is built?” she asked.
Brigitteshrugged.  “Not really, no.  Not besides for the basic schematicsthat anyone can access with a bit of digging.  But I didn’t know howthe Crusader worked either besides for some of Dad’s stories, and most  of those were just complaining about how Reinhardt treated itand which bits he’d needed to bang out today.  I’m pretty good withthis sort of stuff.  Let me poke around a bit, and I’ll bet I canfigure out what’s wrong and how we can get you mobile again.  …Um,you okay?”
Hana wasn’t eventrying to hide her staring.  What were the odds – she was lamentingabout needing to contact MEKA and risk losing everything over thisstupid mech, and here comes with woman with her pretty eyes andpretty hair and pretty arms and pretty impressive knowledge ofhigh-tech combat systems offering to fix all her problems.
“I couldkiss you,” said Hana, words shooting cheerfully past her mentalfilter and straight to her mouth.
Brigitte laughed, but Hana still hadn’t decided if she was joking or not when theworkshop door opened and a voice boomed.
“Brigitte! There you are!”
Brigitte roundedon the speaker, hands on her hips.  “You mean right where I’msupposed to be?  Yeah!  Where were you?”
This had to beReinhardt.  When Brigitte had said massive, she’d been understatingit.  The man had to be nearly as tall as her mech, with a shaggywhite beard and huge, blinding grin.  Tucked under his arm like itwas a jacket on a warm day, was more of the insanely heavy armourBrigitte had been lugging when she first got here.
As Reinhardtmoved further into the room, Hana caught sight of who was with him –oh joy, Torbjörn.
“Brigitte!”he called.
Brigitte eyesimmediately locked on him, and the stern face she’d been directly atReinhardt immediately melted.  “Papa!” she called, and racedover.
Papa?
Hanawatched with a sort of mute horror as Brigitte wrapped her father –her father – up in ahug and pressed her face to his shoulder, clearly ecstatic to see herfamily – her family– again.  Torbjörn was patting her back warmly, and theconversation quickly switched to a low, warm Swedish.
That would explain why the accent had been so familiar, just said in a different voice. That would explain why the name was so familiar, though she’d only heard Torbjörn’s surname the one time, when they’d first been introduced.
Atsome point during this, Reinhardt had ended up closer to Hana, givingthe other two space.  He introduced himself, and offered Hana amassive hand to shake; his grip was bone-crushing, but Hana was stillto shocked by all the revelations she had been hit with in the pasthalf an hour to care.
“Theyhave a big family,” he told her companionably.  “They would neveradmit it, but I think both have been missing it.  Very protectiveover each other.”  He chuckled a deep, rumbling chuckle.  “It’s agood thing I brought her back in one piece, I’d hate to think whatTorby would do if I hadn’t.”
Hanamade a vague noise of acknowledgement.
Brigitteand Torbjörn were no longer hugging, and by the tone it sounded likethings had descended into some sort of disagreement over something. Hana choice to take that moment to make herself scarce.  If Brigittewas sticking around, she could always find her later for engineeringhelp.
-
Hana Song layslumped across the length of Lucio’s bed, defeated.
“Were you…flirting vicariously through your mech?” said Lucio from where hewas perched on the edge of his desk, amusedly watching the unexpectedguest who had thrown herself into his room half an hour ago.
“You’re reallynot focusing on the important part of this story,” Hana told thebedsheets.
“Right.  She’sapparently Torbjörn’s kid.  Which is… bad?”
“Yesit’s bad!  It’s sobad!  Can you imagine needing to go up to Torbjörnand saying ‘Hi, your daughter’s arms are builtand I would love for her to cradle me sensually in them’?  Huh?  No! I’m doomed!”
“Uh,yeah, no, I would really not recommend that being your opener forlike… anything, ever.  Especially if you want to actually get adate with her first.”
Hanagroaned pitifully into the mattress.
Hoppingdown from the table, Lucio gave Hana’s shoulders a sympathetic pat.
“Justdon’t think about how awkward breakfast is going to be tomorrow, whenyou’re sitting across from him and trying not to project how into hisdaughter you are,” he said cheerfully.
Agroan.  Hana Song was doomed.

[Week 2] Summary Research Game Design: The Art & Business of Creating Games
PART 1 : CHAPTER 2: PRINCIPLE OF GAME DESIGN
Recognized problems in a game after created it. But how do avoid errors ahead of time? This chapter is dealing with design principles that are broadly applicable to all game genres.
Player Empathy
Understanding how the players will think while playing in the moment.
Able to unfold the game by ourselves
At the given points we are able to think:
No designers have completely accurate foresight
Here is the situation the player faces and here is the range of choices he can make
Now what will he likely to do?
The Importance of Testers
Testers gives the insight to the designer how the game would feel like
But remember to shut designer mouth when they are testing.
Else, never discover what thousands of actual gamers will encountered when they go another way.
Feedback
The basic interactions of game and player: I do something, the computer does something in response.
The feedback is what distinguishes a game from every other form of entertainment
Interactivity, is what makes our games specials, without it = watching a movie.
Every input should give him a discernible response. No input should go unanswered.
Many form of "answers" *must have some feedback
Control feedback must exist to tell the players
visual feedback
aural feedback
tactile feedback, if controller is so equipped
can be positive feedback or negative feedback
Grounding the Player
The player should always know where he is in the game and why/what he is doing.
Any given point, he should have a immediate goal, medium range goal, long term range goal
Game is huge can easily to cause player to feel lost
No game are played start-to-finish in one setting.
Medium Range Goal: Good sized steps towards the overall goal Example: Strategy game → Build a home base ⇒ Embodied in the levels
Immediate Goal: A problem that right in front of the player. Example: Strategy game → which units to build to fend off an impending attack
Throughout the game, he should always be doing it with some idea of how this single step fits into the longer path that will eventually lead to success.
The Moment to Moment Experience
Holding the player attention consistency in the game
Player should have interesting thing to do while he is in the game
Positive: Give him a constant stream of interesting choices that have significant outcomes
Negative: Not saddling him with tedious activities
Tips on avoiding dead spots:
Don't let player perform a complex actions twice
Render transitions have an option to bypass including cut scenes, audio and dialogs
Bypass the repeat transitions
Avoid text or dialog dumps
Automatic tasks that are boring
Immersion
compelling moment to moment experience design
bathe the players with a constant stream of image
Avoid gaffes
from typos to bad voice acting
stupid AI
changes of graphical style
Writing
Good writing can enhance the immersion of game
Design Within Limits
Consideration of :
budget and time
technical features that works that without crashing the player's machine
Removing Impediments 移除障碍
Technical problems (excessive disc swapping, long load time, game interruptions, bugs etc.) that need to solve in order to improve the moment to moment experience.
Disc Swapping
Not so much worries in current days, but we should keep in mind to reduce the amount of disc and swapping disc while produce the CD video games.
Load Time
Achieving Shorter loading time. Tech lead should encounter this problem to reduce the load time. Method to solve:
Reduce the size of level
Designate points along the way where to pause the game for short seconds for loading (ref. Half-Life)
Game Interruption
Not bringing back the player to the starting point while hitting the failures. Reduce the chance of him giving up.
Saving the Game
Horrible to not have a saving game method. Find a way for player to save his game or auto-save if possible. Autosave + Manual save is always a good choice
Housekeeping
Activities that the player should be able to perform at any point of game.
Pause
Quit, but reduce the chance he wanted to quit
Save/Load
Option Screen, easy accessible
Help
Bugs
Bug free on several ways:
Clear on Design Document
Be flexible in creating your design
Stay involve through the whole development cycle
Keep a level ahead
Interface Design
Creating a good looking, yet functional, interface is one of the most underrated tasks of game design — but it is vital to make it right.
Screen Layout should be aesthetically pleasing
Vital Information must be easier to get. Player should understand what is going on at a glance. (example: HUD)
Controls must be clear
Hone the input at the minimum number of non-awkward clicks, key presses or button pushes
Do not RELY on instinct to build Interface Design
Required to be tested by team → users.
Pay attention to the conventions in the genre
Elegance and ease of use are more important than increased functionality
Prototype the interface early and keep noodling with it
Keep come back to this over and over again throughout the development process
Not to confuse player
Game should be easy to play and the interface is help to do things quickly and simply
The Start-up Screen
A start-up screen that accommodate to all these users:
first time playing video games?
Expertise and need to go through game ASAP etc.
More different users
Start-up screen should give the player the option to:
"NEW GAME"
Loading a Saved Game
Going to Tutorial and Practice Area
Opening the options menu to tweak features
Replaying the opening movie (just in case people missed it, but the movie should be have option to bypass it)
Customizable Controls
Give the player as much controls over the interface as possible
Make everything adjustable:
Game controls, monitor settings, graphics settings, volume etc.
Provide best default settings we can arrives
Different people have different feeling, so customizable controls are very important
Clear option screen is important
Tutorial / Practice Mode
Some people want to directly jump into games, others might not.
Tutorial gives the player hand-on experience without endangering him.
A way to introduce mechanism
Cannot assume the player will actually play the tutorial
If the mechanism is important, then it is important to introduce it that he hasn't learned those yet which return to tutorial
Any opportunity that we could introduce the tutorial directly into the storytelling?
Structure and Progression
A game should be easy to learn but difficult to master.
Different genre have different meaning for the progression leap.
For puzzle game;
It is important to make the first level easy
"Let the game begin" should be my motto
First 15 minutes of the game should attract the player into the game
Balancing the difficulty of the level of the game.
First level easy, and not too hard
Intermediate level should not be too easy, if so the player will lose interest.
Final level should be hardest of all, and should balance between challenging and impossible
A game is too hard is no fun
Intuitive leap puzzle;
scatter examples of that kind of leap elsewhere prior to the player's encountering the puzzle
Sense of mastering and progression
Must listen to the testers' feedbacks of the level difficulties
Taking Care of the Player
You are not the player's opponents or enemy
Our job is to help the player to enjoy the game we created
My goal is not to beat the player
A good designer tries to help players get through the game.
Dead Man Walking
Do not put the player in the position that he cannot win and does not know it.
Bring the important tools on the player sights and get his notice about it for further use
Do not hide them away and cause them frustrated
Protect Newbies
Game start and make it easy for the player.
Ease him till he get his confidence.
Make the first puzzle easy
Play it Again, Sam
As read, the author wanted to share that designers should not make the game that which hits players badly while they make a single mistake.
Ways to solve this is to have a save point in the middle of the level.
Checkpoints to the progression
Avoid to design one of these
But recently, the game market began different, they have ridiculous game like Getting Over it, which the player would fail and fall back to the points.
Give the Player the Information He needs
All the knowledge a player needs in order to play the game should be included within the game
Cannot rely on strategy guide, web sites, word of mouth to supply the critical information
In the game rather than in the manual
Many games have undocumented features — special move or tricks that aren't mentioned on the manual
can be fun, but make sure it is not essential for finish the game
Tricky question on dealing with, "everyone knows"
if the game rely on specific knowledge, make sure it is within the game
Reduce Player Paranoia
Give some small, incremental rewards to the player to reduce their paranoia
Gently steer the player in the right direction
HOW TO DESIGN
Create an Integrated Whole
When we have the high concept, it is just the time to build it with multiple questions to ourselves
Thus, lastly and longer the world will build itself
Economy of Design
In game development, economy of design also helps us to schedule and budget.
If we know what to build, we will not waste time and money to create materials that are not important
High concept also important in this regard, the features keep poping and we cannot do it all
Thus can help us to decide what to keep and what to ignore
Where Do You Get Your Ideas?
If we create something interested to us, then the ideas comes out naturally.
Balance the idea and those with the team.
A visionary guys is needed to central the idea and all proposals and suggestion against it
Game Design is a collaborative art, and you need contributions from multiple discipline
such as story, art, programming, gameplay, sound, music and even sales and marketing.
Cabal approach.
set up a highly focus SWAT teams, each of them have one specific mission
Brainstorming approach
gather members to open discussion
small in group, make more focus
game designer can mull around the ideas, either accept or decline the ideas

The All-ROG Gaming PC!
youtube
Recently we checked out the three cheapest 144 Hertz gaming monitors that we could get on amazon.com and we were pretty impressed well mostly, except for one common problem that they all had they're all running out by modern standards, lower 1920 by 1080 resolution. So today we've got something new for you guys. We'Ve actually never covered a product from AOC before, but this the CQ 27 G 127 stood out to us for a number of reasons, one its 144 Hertz, which means theoretically, it should be great for gaming too. It'S running at 2560 by 1440 resolution 3. It'S got a V a rather than a TN panel and four it comes in at just 280 US dollars. We couldn't find anything else that has this feature set at this price point. So we've got high expectations and hopefully they don't disappoint us instantly, see your current and past network activity detect malware and block badly behaving apps on your PC or Android device with glassware use, offer code Lynas to get 25 % off glass wire at the link routerhosting in The video description, [ Music ] - I'm actually pretty excited about this, because we've had a ton of requests to cover AOC in the past, but the main reason that we haven't done it is that ever since the CRT days, their presence in North America has been fairly Limited so I've been aware that they're kind of a big deal over in Europe - and I believe Asia, but over here they've, had basically very little availability and certainly no marketing. So I don't really know what to expect, because even from other media outlets, I haven't like read a ton of reviews of their products or anything like that. First, impressions of the stand are pretty good. It'S got a nice metal base under fairly tastefully if a touch gamer II top to list assembly is always a nice touch. Honestly, I got ta, say initial impressions, pretty positive, so far height adjustable stand. I mean to be clear. This is not like a 140 dollar gaming monitor or anything like the ones we looked at last time, but considering how much higher their costs would be to get this better panel technology, it's a larger display. Ah, I am I'm pretty pleased so far with the overall fit and finish now. I can't say that this is a perfect job that they've done of the the plastic housing here. You can actually see some of the tape that they've used. To probably put the see this unit in the back here that houses, the power supply and the scaler you know, and all that stuff you can see some of the tape that used to it like tape it on, but in terms of the like. The overall feel of it it doesn't feel cheap, it doesn't feel crappy and we've got a reasonably fun, exceptional i/o. So there's no built-in USB hub, but you've got dual HDMI ports, DisplayPort a headphone, jack and power supply built into the monitor, rather than as an external brick, which some people care about. It'S not a huge deal for me, but it is considered a a better feature. All right, the two lessness continues here and we're just gonna peel. This off bezels are looking pretty slim actually, and this is nice, not just power, cable included, but also DisplayPort and HDMI. So in terms of adjustability, we've got your tilt. We'Ve got your swivel no pivot, but we do have height adjust. I still remember when that used to be like site a super premium feature. Now, it's only really cheap stuff that it's not included on. It'S really. Nice makes a big difference immediately. The deep blacks on this monitor are quite noticeable compared to if we were looking at like an entry-level, IPS or especially a TN like, as this wallpaper fades off towards the edges. It'S it's quite dark, not bad. At all. All right, 144 Hertz fuckin showed up just fine there, yes, and because this is a variable refresh rate monitor. That means that, even if it is not certified g-sync compatible, we can enable G sync, and it is in fact enabled right now. So without further ado, I don't fire up. Some games now feels like a good time to have a look at the on-screen menu. Everything here is reasonably intuitive. Personally, I prefer just an instant switch rather than animation. I can see how they might do that right frame. What even am I looking at here? Can you see anything? Let'S see? Oh, what the crap? Oh, what it just brightens the top corner of the screen. So it's like a faded out washed out section in the top-left corner, so there you can change the brightness contrast. You can move the position of it around. Actually you can put it wherever you want guys. Let me know in the comments. What is this feature for? I would love to know. I thought that was interesting. Game mode is off by default. Oh that's! The FPS mode! That looks terrible, okay hold on a second, let's get, let's get our settings adjusted here I have to say I have just never understood these weird color profiles that they create for particular genres of games. The correct color profile is the accurate color profile, because that's the way that the developer intended it quite frankly at least they've got customizable ones. So you can have gamer one gamer, two gamer three, and then you can just things that might actually be meaningful, like whether you want the low blue light mode on. So you have like nighttime gaming mode, whether you want the built in frame counter on. That'S pretty nice to have so their gamer display modes are not necessarily useless. Just the canned ones are stupid. Okay, overdrive can be adjusted to weak, medium or strong. Medium is usually the best bet there, but we'll play around with that. A little bit and low input lag we will leave on. I will say that there's no discernable increase in input lag compared to what I'd expect from a 144. It'S gaming monitor, so that's nice to see really responsive. I touch on the smeary side, so these are not the fastest pixels that I've ever seen by a long shot. If you pick up a like a decent TN gaming monitor - or you know, even one of those really high-end IPS - is that LG released recently you're gonna see better readability of things like text as you're as you're. Moving around like this, you see that everything's got kind of a trail behind it, but for a VA panel. I would consider this perfectly reasonable and acceptable. Now. One thing that's hard for me to tell right now, because I'm playing kind of a dark and gloomy game is whether this gets any brighter. So what I'd like to do is get rid of doom, let's switch to something like csgo and see. If my impressions here are correct, cuz, it seems like our maximum brightness, I mean even just opening up something. Like you know, our own website here by the way tech tip song is awesome forum. You guys should go check it out. This is supposed to be pretty much white white and it's kind of a gray and not like we're at a very, very low brightness. Even actually, the brightness is cranked 100 % already actually before we do that. I wanted to play around with the overdrive settings. A little bit off is clearly terrible, like you guys, I'm sure you can see these comet trails behind icons, as I'm dragging this around on the desktop here, but as usual, strong also yields a really kind of over sharpened, visual artifact e-type look and our best bet Does once again appear to be medium overdrive in fairness. White to dark is a very challenging scenario, so let's actually get that game fired up now. So this is a little bit more fair, and it's not great and coming out here into the the daytime. Arabic, freaking Sun here I've been informed from off camera. This is a 215 it peak brightness display and I believe it because, while the blacks are deep - and that was impressive - it's a lot less impressive to have deep blacks. When your monitor is just dark. I mean maybe this would be the monitor for you if you're trying to game at night and be stealthy and while you're at it, you could grab a hoodie like the one, I'm wearing it's the LTTE, stealth hoodie LTT surakameth. Now, to give credit to the strength of this monitor, the 1440p resolution does look a lot clearer than what we were dealing with with those 1080p monitors, but something that you guys have got to consider is that there is more to perceived sharpness of an image than Just the number of pixels and contrast is actually a big part of what makes an image look, clear and sharp and crisp so yeah. The lines are fine, but the image doesn't look great, so it just feels like the monitors a little self-defeating, because it's key feature is that it manages 144 Hertz and higher resolution, but it gives up so much contrast that you a lot of the perceived image, quality And that's not a problem just for like scenic games, it's it's a problem in general like it's noticeably bland. This is a bland looking game in the first place, but it's really bland. Like. Can you tell on camera how bland this is new it nope hold on? I think what we need to do is grab another monitor and swap it out for you guys so David hold, as still as you can, or even put the camera on sticks, but the camera on sticks. Now this monitor costs about twice as much, and actually you might have noticed that, especially in terms of brightness, it looks pretty similar except funny story. This is actually the monitor that we use for b-roll shots, so it has its brightness turned down to 20 out of a hundred in order to make it appear not too bright for certain shots that we do so putting it up at something more reasonable, like around 80 Wow - that is a really really different experience back to our AOC. The difference is very clear and I'm just gonna double-check. Yes, we are at a hundred percent brightness. On this thing, that's a little unfortunate. This looks a little bit more palatable official site right. I think that's why all the gamer modes have this game. Color option turned up because it might hurt the accuracy of your color, but it'll certainly make your games as long as you don't go too far like their fps and their RTS modes. It'Ll certainly make your game look a little bit more vibrant. You can see I've overdone it a little bit here. So I'd probably say that if it's purely for gaming use, knowing that you're giving up some of the color accuracy that you might have gotten in the native profile, going to a game color of somewhere in the 11 to 13 range, improves the playability a lot like It makes it not look like I'm looking at a super cheap. You know washed out, monitor and what's interesting, you saw how that flashbang wasn't even bright. What'S interesting is part of the reason, for that is that the way that humans perceive brightness is affected by the saturation of the color, so looking at a more saturated color makes you think that your looking at something brighter, even though the panel itself is not particularly Bright and if we were to alt-tab out of the game, you can see things like my icons look way overdone here. So this is a monitor that you're definitely giving something up at the price point. But if you're willing to fidget around with your on screen menu, which to their credit, is quite usable, actually has workarounds that work if you're willing to go around them so bringing our 8020 7qd back up on the table. This is a clearly better display. It looks great not only in games when you adjust this dial or on the desktop if you adjust it the other way, but in both all the time, thanks to its 10 bit IPS panel and it's much higher brightness. But if you think find here about it as paying yourself, two hundred and fifty dollars to adjust a knob every once in a while, I still think there's a very compelling value argument to be made for a OCS display here. Even if it does give up some of the creature comforts that you might get with a higher-end panel, so guys, let us know, does this look like a great option or do you want us to explore some of the other 1440p 144 Hertz monitors on the market? They are a bit more expensive, but there's options from vo-tech Roxul dell has one that's fair, bit more expensive and make sure you're subscribed. So you don't miss it. TTX Tech “Classic Controller” Review (SNES)
When it comes to game controllers, I am usually a first-party, official-or-bust kind of guy. This is especially true when it comes to retro game consoles. Generally speaking, official controllers have had the greatest amount of research and development put into them, they feature the highest quality parts (relatively speaking) and they just feel right for the platform they were designed to be used with.
However, once in a while I get the urge to try a variety of third-party options. These are rarely up to the same standard as official controllers, often using cheaper materials, but they have the benefit of costing less for consumers. For players on particularly tight budgets, these can be perfectly viable options. Also, the fact is that in this modern day and age, finding used official controllers in excellent condition can be tricky, or the price higher than expected.
Browsing at one of my local independent game retailers recently, this TTX Tech Wired Classic Controller for Super Nintendo caught my eye. Costing just ten dollars at retail, I went ahead and purchased it, then proceeded to spend a night with it and a variety of SNES titles. I can confirm that while it does feature many of the same caveats you find with other cheap, third-party retro console controllers, it also manages to nail other aspects (arguably the ones that matter the most).
Please keep in mind that this review is specifically covering models for the actual Super Nintendo Entertainment System, not the SNES Classic Edition. Despite the words “Classic Controller” being plastered over the box, this is a controller that will work on an actual Super Nintendo, not Nintendo’s more recent, tiny emulation box.
Photo Gallery From Initial Unboxing
Getting the bad stuff out of the way first, this controller is in a lot of ways exactly what you would expect from such a low-cost product. Cheap looking and cheap feeling plastic, short length of cabling, a front facing label that is off-center and an overall lack of weight gives it the feeling of a typical knock-off controller.
That said, there are other aspects that let me see this thing in a more positive light. The face buttons actually feel pretty good and snap back well enough. This is often a problem with modern third-party SNES controllers, where buttons don’t feel particularly responsive or they actually get stuck, basically poor mechanical design that is thankfully nowhere to be found here.
The shell is also pretty decent for what it is. It features some nice, rounded edges, is roughly the same height as an official SNES controller and as a result sits nice and comfortably in the hands.
Some solid attention to detail is here as well, like concave buttons for X and Y, convex buttons for A and B, along with some nice indentations on the d-pad like on an official Nintendo-branded controller. Despite not being centered correctly, the face label also has a nice texture to it that adds positively to the feel when playing a game.
My single biggest issue with modern knock-off NES and SNES controllers are poor directional pad designs. They often let the player smash down on the d-pad, activating more than two directions at a time. This has the negative effect of your character stopping any movement mid-motion and can also trigger directions/actions the player is unintending. For instance, moving diagonally when all is wanted is to move right. This poses major problems in games that rely on precision and accuracy, like with shooters, action/platformers or fighting games.
Thankfully the directional pad on this TTX controller features a solid pivot and as a result feels much like an official SNES controller. I had no issues playing games relying on heavy eight-way movement such as Gradius III, UN Squadron, Super R-Type and Super Smash T.V. Fighting games requiring constant, smooth rotation motions, like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat II, worked without issue. I was able to pull off my moves with ease while also still being able to move in simple, straight directions when I wanted without fear of going diagonally by accident.
When it comes to usability, my main complaint is the positioning of the shoulder keys. The shape of the controller makes them sit slightly higher than I would like and as a result my hands can feel a little cramped when needing to rely on them. I got used to it but your mileage may vary depending on the shape of your hands and length of your fingers.
The Insides of the Controller
For those curious about the internals, it’s pretty standard stuff here. The shell houses a single large PCB with two smaller boards slotted in for the triggers. The face buttons and directional pad both have sets of thin rubber contacts, and the shoulder keys have one of each as well them. It’s difficult to say how long these will last, but as of right now they seem to get the job done.
The start and select buttons are one single rubber piece like on an OEM SNES controller. The d-pad, as mentioned previously, has a nice, solid pivot allowing for precise usage. The shoulder keys are all one single piece as well which was standard for cheaper third-party designs from the 1990s (for those unaware, the OEM SNES controller design used a multi-part approach for the triggers, where the shoulder actuators sat on metal rods).
Interestingly, the face buttons aren’t keyed uniquely. One could technically swap the buttons around for a custom configuration if desired. For instance, the rounded, convex buttons for A and B can be moved to the top row for X and Y. Or, one could purchase a second controller, take the rounded buttons and make an all-convex layout like was standard for Super Famicom controllers.
In Conclusion
All in all, going in and expecting the worst, I was actually pleasantly surprised by this controller. For the price and functionality it’s hard to beat. I will always swear by official/OEM controllers, particularly when it comes to the Super Nintendo, but there’s something to be said for something as solid as this at as low of a price as it is.
If you’re someone with plenty of official controllers already, there’s probably little need to bother unless you simply want to expand your horizons. That said, if you’re a gamer on a budget, or if you’re someone needing a backup (maybe you want redundancy, or maybe you have the occasional friend over for some multiplayer Street Fighter II, Super Bomberman or NBA Jam sessions), then this TTX SNES Classic Controller will certainly do the trick.
Recommended.

Nosgoth matchmaking problems
Nosgoth: Interview with a Game Dev For an Open Beta, the game is very polished and visually pleasing.  Well, I just got to play the game.  It may be humorous at first e.  I've stopped playing the game because the latest change to the way matches end took a lot of the fun out of the game, and I think it would be disheartening to new players to not get equal playtime with humans and vampires.  It's too hardcore and has a steep learning curve.  Very fun game, I'm looking forward the official launch and all the players that it will brings.
Nosgoth Review I've conducted separate experiments regarding this since the discovery of mmr in the game logs, and there are many notable issues here.  Battle Royale players may be experiencing issues matchmaking on all platforms.  I would only suggest this as a time killer.  The deft reaver is able to leap far into the air, pouncing on his prey and slashing with metal claws.  I must say, the first time I played this game, I hated it, but it slowly grew on me.  It really is a touchy subject and I think us higher level players will just have to wait and be patient.
SSBU Online Matchmaking Problems The movement of both vampires and hunters feel really smooth and I´m a big fan of the vampires´ ability to climb building and move effortlessly through the level.  If were in beta let the people who want to play the game play it.  Last week, smooth 4k on their finest in the gears of war ultimate.  A lot of what will make for a successful Rahabim player is picking the right loadout to set up the battle positioning based what the rest of the team is doing.  Nosgoth was developed by Psyonix yes, the developers of Rocket League and was published by Square Enix.
Community State of Play : nosgoth Pretty much all of the classes can't go in alone and get kills.  We will post here with more information as it arrives.  The announcement for the cancellation was made on April 8 th 2016 but the servers were shut down on May 31 st that year.  Well, for the majority of competitive smashers, this is totally unacceptable.  How can cause lobby disconnects in gears of hours of halo 4.  Update contains final map pack and player to play 47.
Gears of war 4 matchmaking problems Each class and race have very unique abilities and game-play elements that makes it load of fun to fiddle with.  Server side updates to gears of war 4; glitches 5.  No recommendations from players, no continued players.  Playing on Wi-Fi when the Belmonts have a strict timing window for special platform tech makes practice incredibly difficult for competitive gamers.  The contrast between foreground and background actually hurts my eyes this subreddit is bad but not that bad.  Real-Time outages and all finding escalation, specifically about this multiplayer games also recently? But if they keep pushing buggy incremental patches there will never be enough hype.  The matchmaking, even with 'Any' selected in matchmaking still seems to never find me a match.
Matchmaking Issues I've seen some bad games with bad glitches and stuff, but this makes those games look good.  Certainly a number of changes I'd like to see, such as adjustments to health stations, maps, random respawns but not enough to ruin it.  Outside of Nosgoth's team deathmatch, there isn't much else in the way of content.  However, this game is still in beta, if you haven't had a look at it on steam yet, go check it out. What vampires lack in the technology of their mortal foes, they make up for in strength and incredible athletic prowess, making them an absolute blast to play.  Usually theres 2 strong players and 2 weak players on each team, or so it feels.
matchmaking problem? That would be best, with such a small pool, you're actively damaging people's experiences if they're not in a premade.  A team would almost always have two summoners just spam casting abysmal bolt or spike forgot the name and two other vampire's trying to fight which turned out to be 4 humans vs 2 vampires + summons.  Early access and beta buy-ins are great until they drag on forever.  Need a constantly updating feed of duty: ultimate edition customer reviews matchmaking problems that doesn't.  Balance is very poor in terms of Vampires vs Humans.  I haven't fell upon a single issue I'd deem horrible or Very fun game, I'm looking forward the official launch and all the players that it will brings.
Solved: Matchmaking Error It'll never get there if people are completely alienated.  The party system as of writing this is broken beyond belief and it almost seems like it doesn´t want you to play with your friends.  What happened to your old Matchmaking system from Black Ops 3? How can you fight,if half of the screen is blocked by your character and you cant see around you or where you going? And for the most part, the developer has been upfront that updates are coming quickly, starting with a new map and a female vampire class, both to arrive in the following weeks, with a new human class to arrive soon after.  Does he take the fight to the vampires? Do you want to join 5 second countdown.  Originally posted by :Consider this a Corey and co.
Anthem Errors Still playing the majority of the time as a solo queue player, though I have occasionally played with one or two people from time to time.  It's not even about competetive, it's about a group with evolving tactics, similar pings, likely teamspeak, etc, going up against a group that has none of that - a group that will have a higher number of newbies because there's no play for them to go.  A video game that benefits from well coordinated movement, pacing and attacks.  The group system also has tons of bugs.  It's a growing sentiment among the rest of us, but lets try and change that.  We'll be monitoring these as well as the game, for any issues you guys run into.
