I wanted to throw a lot of theories/headcannons out there to see if anyone agrees with me lol. Here you go, y'all!

The Grumpinati exists separate of Snakolytes (headcannon)

Basically, I remember Triffany saying the Grumpinati, at most, might just be a literary society, which might be foreshadowing what the Snakolytes do (study). However, what if the grumpinati does exist as GNN. Basically, a society that shields the public from unwanted news that might cause a mass panic. They're like a giant writing club. They would get along with the Snakolytes, but for shits and giggles, they don't know about each other's existences and would freak out if they figured out they weren't the only secret society. Clumby might know of them, being the only overlap between the two, but she doesn't say anything about it because she assumed they already know each other. (And would probably call both sides idiots if she found out they didn't.)

Wiggle describes Megamaki like a main singer and her back up dancers. However, the way they work together when they fight, and shoot roe out in a way similar to a cannon in a way. Plus, they hang around the bay where Grumpbeard's ship crashed, their ship. If all the mini-maki are taken out, all that's left is the captain without a crew. Ooh, and plus, megamaki can be seen swimming around the windows of the Triplicate Space, where the descendants of Blackbeard's voyage (and possibly his literal descendants, Alegander) hang out. I don't have many other clues here, but pirates are cool, so there.

Snaktooth island is moving closer to the mainland. (Theory)

I remember hearing this theory a while ago and getting chills over it. Basically, Lizbert's crew describe their trip to snaktooth like it took days at least. It even seems to take a while for the Journalist to get there, assuming they answered Lizbert's letter and file right away. But in the end, it seems to only take the grumpuses a mere matter of hours, maybe one hour at the least, to get back to the mainland. Snaktooth island can be seen clearly in the distance. That makes me think. If Snaktooth island was originally so close, why don't more grumps go to visit it? You'd think people would talk about it more, especially with Megamaki and Mothza being big bugsnax that seem to explore around. Well, what if it originally was much farther, and has slowly made an effort to get closer to the mainland. This is an apocalyptic event waiting to happen. Perhaps triggered by Lizbert's rise to queendom?

favourite thing about them: hmm, a tough question! i think most of all i like how positive and dorky he is, and how he encourages his friends!! and just his general role in the game, he's such a sweetheart and i love him. also he shares the same english voice actor as kazuichi so that's pretty awesome!!!!

least favourite thing about them: a very silly thing (i want to keep this all as lighthearted and fun as possible despite this being a negatively aimed question)..... WHY is his hair so tall and spiky?! lol i just wish it was a little tiny bit less gravity defying. i like to imagine it's just held up with sooo much gel but when he lets it down its all soft and floppy :) i want to ruffle it like he's a little doggy

favourite line: the impossible is possible, all you gotta do is make it so!! <3 also the love suite dialogue aaa

brotp: my favourite friendship for him is probablyy kaede!! they are both so positive and encouraging and i love them! their dynamic is a lot of fun for me to think about :) but i think he'd make a good friend to pretty much anyone!!

otp: it HAS to be saimota, my favourite ship of all of v3! :) they are so sweet together, i absolutely adore them and i think about them very often <3<3 also i love their love suite event! ive been meaning to write more fics of them bc only have 2 published so far, one of which includes the kaede dynamic i mentioned

notp: okay so this isn't a full on 'notp', i totally get why people like this ship!! but i just thought id put it here because i like it a lot less than the average danganronpa enjoyer i think lol, and since im doing a whole post talking about my kaito opinions it's worth mentioning :) and no judgement whatsoever to anyone who likes it, i know it's commonly liked and i understand why, and i know several of my mutuals love this ship so please don't be offended, but... maki :') i tend to headcanon kaito as gay, so kaito with any girl isn't something i really seek out, but im writing this section about maki just because i know she's by far the most common straight ship for him. like i said though, i totally get why other people ship it, so please don't be offended if you like them!! <3 just isn't my thing that's all

unpopular opinion: as i said in the notp section, i see kaito as gay! he is just gay to me, and thinking of him as gay makes me happy :) i've put this in the unpopular opinion section because i know he's very commonly seen as straight or bi, and very commonly shipped with maki but i just. my brain says he's gay :)

a song i associate with him: despite loving him dearly, i can't think of a song that i associate with him right now, sorry :'(

Lol I could rant about oumota all day but cuz I know I have I'mma keep it short!

Ship It: (obvs)

1. What made you ship it?

Chapter 5. Full stop. I loved Kaito's character from the beginning and Kokichi grew on me but seeing their team up was 😍. I didn't originally ship it in a romantic context until I looked at the fan content and saw just how well the pairing works in a platonic as well as romantic lens. Plus I love a good narrative foil/enemies to lovers dynamic and they have the best I've seen.

2. What are your fave things about the ship?

Narrative foils, the fact that they understood each other better than anyone else despite hating each other, chaotic energy, smart boi/"dumb" boi, height difference, P U R P L E. But mostly the potential the ship has for so many different relationship dynamics. They work in any AU or situation. They came together during their hardest times so it's possible that under different circumstances they'd work as well. Domestically or casually, healthy or unhealthy, whatever you want to explore with the pairing, you can, and it'll stay in character for them. They're two great characters that become amazing when played off each other. Even in a platonic context.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have for your ship?

Idk what's popular and unpopular so imma just give a couple headcanons?? Lol.

• Kokichi is a very "show my love thru actions" type of person so he doesn't always say "I love you" or other mushy stuff (except in a teasing way) so he'll get gifts or show kind gestures esp if he accidentally (or purposely) pisses Kaito off, he'll do sweet things to make it up to him.

• Everything is a competition with them. Theyd do dumb shit like "who can give the other more kisses in a day" or "who can get the other a better gift". They're pretty even with who wins, but Kokichi is a much more insufferable winner.

• Kaito would propose first, he'd make it super romantic and perfect and just how Kokichi would want it. But then a week later, Kokichi also proposes in an even grander gesture because he "needs to make sure Kaito wants to marry him just as much as he does."

Kaimaki tho... It kind of teeters on the edge for me. I love both Kaito and Maki as characters, and their friendship is sweet and romantically it's cute, like seeing art and reading fics I always find it adorable but canonically... It feels more one sided than anything. So I'm gonna say

Don't Ship It:

1. Why don't you ship it?

Maki very obviously had feelings for Kaito, she literally says so. However, I relate to Maki in the sense that I've felt unwanted and unloved and struggled to love myself. And I've had people who come along and make me feel special, almost like a replacement for that self love I needed. I think Kaito is that someone to Maki. He cared for her, and saw the good in her when others seemed not to, and as sweet and romantic as that can be, it also has potential to lead to a misunderstanding and over idealization. So from I guess a personal stand point it's one of those "oh yikes this doesn't seem ideal" situations.

2. What would have made you ship it?

Probably if Kaito showed a bit more of reciprocation, but he doesn't. Also if maybe there was a moment of Maki realizing that Kaito kind of has a lot of issues too.

3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I think it still has potential. It's possible for them to grow and love each other in an equal way, but it requires a lot of effort on Kaito's part to bring down his walls for his friends. I think that Maki would need to also establish herself and understand who she is and what she truly wants because it's hard to tell if her feelings for him come from a genuine romantic love or if she simply loves the idea of Kaito. I just think it would end up very one sided without those things. Which, don't get me wrong, would still make for an interesting dynamic when it comes to exploring that part of their relationship.

wow me you are so smart. sexy also.

Sexuality Headcanon: shuichi ALSO shows canon attraction to men and women, and thankfully there’s not nearly as much monosexual shuichi in the fandom as there is monosexual kaede! i can consume disaster bi shuichi content to my heart’s content :D unfortunately he does seem to be struggling with some internalized homophobia in canon, since he says he “shouldn’t be feeling like that about another guy” in regards to his crush on kaito, but the v3 class is so loudly and aggressively queer i honestly think he’d get over it pretty fast. shuichi is a crowd-pleaser and sooo desperate for other people’s approval, so being submerged in a community with so many gay folk would rid him of his homophobia (internalized or otherwise) pretty fast i think.

Gender Headcanon: trans guy! i don’t think he really struggles with body dysphoria tho,,,his dysphoria is more social if that makes sense? shuichi doesn’t look in the mirror and hate his body. it’s just his body; he doesn’t feel any particular way about it. he does things like wearing big sweatshirts when he has to go in public not because he wants to look a certain way, but because he’s terrified someone will see his figure and then perceive him as anything but a man. shuichi doesn’t want to change his face or his voice or his body-he just wants the people around him to see him as he truly is, yknow?

A ship I have with said character: saioumatsu. a big surprise i know but we’ll get through it together. hphasjdfh i’m not really sure how much i have left to say about it at this point,,,i’ve been thinking a lot about them reconciling postgame lately? about shuichi getting to support kaede through recovery the way she supported him through the game, kaede gently bullying kokichi into making friends with the cast, shuichi and kokichi finally getting to apologize to each other....

A BROTP I have with said character: oh jeez i can’t pick just one,,,shuichi has fun platonic relationships with basically the whole cast!! the training trio are very cute even if i do dislike maki’s writing, i like thinking of him and himiko as like siblings, i love that he seems genuinely interested in hearing kiyo’s stories, him and angie fascinate me (although they wouldn’t be a very healthy relationship), and obviously i love him with kokichi and kaede platonically or i wouldn’t ship them romantically lol

A NOTP I have with said character: uhhh him and tsumugi i guess?? havin the same problem as the gonta post here there’s not really any popular shuichi ship i dislike,,,

A random headcanon: cannot STAND coffee. not even when it’s watered down with a ton of cream and sugar. he’s a tea guy through and through. he does however pull unhealthy all-nighters with the aid of caffeine, so sometimes you can find him at 4 AM, standing alone in his uncle’s kitchen, chugging coffee as fast as possible, silently weeping at the taste.

General Opinion over said character: sir i adore you!!! now please go to therapy. my love for shuichi is a little different than my love for kokichi and kaede (hint: it’s because i’m a shuichi kinnie who wants to kiss them) but he is a beloved character to me nonetheless. shu is such a good protagonist with such an interesting personality and such realistic flaws,,,i do wish you guys would stop making him solve murders though. he just wants to play gatchapon and find missing kittens :(

when does a relationship become queerbaiting? theres a book that i really like and the 2 male leads characters have a lot of storylines and arcs where they get closer and i think some of the tropes used can be similar to the typical romantic tropes, neither of them end up with anyone at the end of the story since its more about found family and the long journey the whole cast goes through. they even get shipped by another character as a running gag. personally i always saw it as being open to interpretation but recently the revised edition of the original novel came out and there were several lines those 2 characters had about each other that were kinda toned down, i didnt think much of it but i saw a post about how it was clearly baiting and the author was being homophobic for toning it down. i didnt think it counted as baiting since as far as i know, the novel was never advertised as anything with romance and the author never pretended they were gonna end up together. i am definitely a little weirded out by the decision to change those specific lines but a lot of the story stayed the same, including a lot about their relationship so idk what to think.

i guess im more confused on if it counts as baiting, or even substext??

Sooooo I am not the best person to ask about this, because I’m a cis woman who has thus far in life only been attracted in a romantic sense to cis men. I can talk a bit about baiting as a general concept in fiction, but you should definitely take it with some grains of salt. 

Baiting, for me, is like deliberately playing up an aspect writers have no intention on delivering on. Usually this is done for ratings, to tease fans, fanservice, etc, but without payoff, it is just bad writing. Red herrings are good in writing, but only can be successfully used if the actual result is more satisfying than the herring. This applies to writing in general, not just to romantic ships. However, when the baiting involves historically underrepresented groups for no reason other than to get fans to spend money consuming the story, I think we can all agree that becomes something more grotesque than just bad writing: it’s insensitive, socially irresponsible, frankly hurtful. 

Some common examples are Bridgerton which has a gay character, who is extremely minor, yet they played up this character in advertising. Also, Rizzoli and Isles I think actually had its producers mention deliberately playing up the lesbian subtext to hook the audience without ever intending on following through. 

That said, context also matters. Like, there are aspects of the culture of the work’s author, the target audience, and such that come into play here also (so like, romantic tropes differ by culture. For example, enemies to lovers is common in Asian stories but less in the west, and the “girl who pursues a guy” is extremely common in Japanese shonen in particular, while it is very much a cringe trope that almost never results in romance in American fiction. So if a writer reads, say, tropes that are common in America into a Japanese work and says it’s baiting, that’s quite possibly not the intent even if it may have been the experience of the reader. So even if there was no intent, there can still be hurt, and that hurt can be real, if that makes sense. 

The definition of what constitutes ‘baiting’ varies. I do think that, in true Tumblr fashion, the term gets thrown around a lot and loses its intended meaning, or is so rigidly defined that creators can meet the letter of the “not a bait” requirement while ignoring the spirit of it.

To start with the latter: regarding something hitting the letter of what most wouldn’t consider baiting yet not really the spirit, let’s look at The Rise of Skywalker. This movie had a genuine lesbian kiss in it... between two characters we’d never seen more than a glimpse of while others are celebrating around them. Since it has a kiss, it’s not baiting, right? Well... the director deliberately said in the lead-up to the film that he included it because he “wanted LGBT people to see themselves in the film.” If “see yourselves in the film” is like a nanosecond of background, then, like... idk. Baiting or not, it feels icky, and I know some people consider it baiting and some don’t even if they don’t like, love that representation. But I think this is more queerbaiting than like, Nobara and Maki, who don’t have explicit romantic coding. 

Going back to the former, in terms of ‘queerbaiting’ losing its intended meaning... I think there are a lot of really poorly written romantic ships out there, often het, while a lot of same-gender relationships are really well written regardless of whether there’s romantic coding within the text. The main emotional energy in stories with 90% male characters (as frankly many if not most stories are, great job world) is probably between two men. There’s just so much more potential with well-written characters who share a lot of screen time, so of course people are going to ship them. In my opinion, this does not inherently make it baiting, but it certainly creates an environment that lends itself to baiting even if the writers aren’t intending to do this. 

Like, you could say the main emotional energy in BNHA is Bakugou and Deku. However, Bakudeku is 100% not queerbaiting. It’ll never be canon romantically (I don’t even ship it lol). There has been nothing to imply romance between them even if the main emotional message can be seen in their development. Deku/Ochaco is likely to be canon, but there is a significant lack of genuine emotional energy between them (the story’s plots and themes don’t coalesce around their relationship), so it’s probably going to feel forced. In contrast, Naruto/Sasuke had an actual kiss in canon, which while played for laughs is a lot more direct romantic coding than anything between Bakugou/Deku. I actually don’t think the majority of Narusasu is baiting, but I definitely think that one moment in chapter like 3 was really poor fanservice for yaoi fans, and has not aged well at all. 

It is also the case that fans can confuse headcanons with what is actually in the text, and that just never ends well. For example, Clover and Qrow’s ship in RWBY: a lot of people read Clover as gay, which led to “bury your gays” outrage when he died. A member of the crew stated explicitly they had never intended for Clover to be a love interest for Qrow, and truthfully here was nothing strictly romantic in their relationship--nothing like a kiss or a declaration of love or a parallel to another romantic couple. Hence, I don’t personally consider it queerbaiting or bury your gays, but a lot of fans felt that it was and their pain is legitimate even if I think textually the argument isn’t there. The one thing I do think is true about this in particular is that there was also no strict platonic coding, which encourages headcanons. Clear writing, yo. It can help. 

Note the word “can” not “will,” because strict platonic coding doesn’t always fix things, either. In what was probably a reaction to the outrage over Clover’s death, you had extremely blatant platonic coding of Ruby and Penny’s relationship this season leading up to Penny’s death. Ruby refers to Penny as “our friend” three different times, wherein “friend” sends a platonic message and “our” sends an even stronger message that it’s not about the two of them despite the fact that their friendship is one of the sweetest and most interesting in the show. A lingering Ruby-Penny hug then is followed by a lingering Penny-Weiss hug, then Yang, then Blake, etc. The writers went out of their way to hit people over the head with “platonic” and yet they have still gotten accusations of bury your gays and queerbaiting because people will see what they want to see in a story. 

Seeing what you want to see in a story also isn’t inherently bad. People who are underrepresented are going to have to read themselves into stories because Lord knows writers ain’t incorporating them well enough if at all. It’s why “Mary Sues” are common in fanfiction, which is primarily written by people who are not straight white men: because where the hell else are we to see ourselves in fiction? So essentially the macrocosm of culture creates this problem, both in terms of baiting and the misuse of the term, and the only fix is a shit ton more good representation.

I have returned once more! Did you miss me lol? Been thinking about Maki absolutely captivating Kirumi after her first performance! I’ve been especially thinking about Maki actually pursuing acting as a career. She’ll probably start off in a small community theater, then Broadway, then smaller roles in TV shows, and finally bigger to main roles in movies. Maybe once she’s finally starting to get recognition after starring in 4 big movies and getting a huge raise in her paycheck, she’ll probably receive an invite/nomination to an awards show. Kirumi (who may either be her fiancé or wife at this time), all her friends from high school, community theater, Broadway, and the tv shows she’s performed in come to support her whether she wins or not (Taka and Leon can be there too if you want to add in some Ishileon as well as Harutojo lol). Maki would be nominated for something like “Best Movie Actress” or something and actually win it, catching her off guard since she wouldn’t be expecting it. Kirumi would be so proud and excited, she’d probably lift Maki up in a hug and yelling words of praise and affection. If you’re not a fan of that idea, there’s also this;

It's taken a few days to actually come up with something for this. Kinda because I'm not well versed on Maki as a character (haha) as she was one of the ones I actually liked least in V3. Nothing wrong with her - but Gonta, Kokichi and Kaito stole my heart!

But I think I hace something. Deviated slightly from your idea to something that I thought fit her backstory or at least fed it from it. I thought it would be kinda cute anyway haha! And lets be honest - pretty sure she'd want to move from assassin so why not act?

• And her starring role was on Broadway as Mary Poppins.

• Of course, this meant that she had to interact with children - something she wasn't particularly keen on.

• But as always, the children loved her and wanted to follow her around in green room.

• She felt compelled to entertain them, seeing as she would need to build up a rapport with them.

• As time went on, she found herself seeking them out to look after, or tease, or run lines.

• And by the time the run was over, she realised she would miss them.

• She continued with acting, in all kinds of shows, but none quite felt as right as Mary Poppins.

• Sitting down with Kirumi after getting yet another role in an upcoming show, she admitted that something was different.

• And Kirumi, who knew her backstory and saw the change in her over the year long Mary Poppins rehearsals and show, could only smile knowingly.

• 'What?'

• 'Is Broadway what you really want anymore, my dear?'

• 'Well. No. But what else would I be good at?'

• Kirumi, who says nothing, flicks the television on.

• And it lands on a children's show.

• It all hits Maki like a train - the realisation that THIS is what she could do.

• She could be a children's television personality!

• Something she could never have imagined a couple of years ago but even she can see that she's mellowed.

• And she's always been great with children - why not finally use that talent?!

• It's a big step and she has to work hard to make it work.

• But she catches a break on an educational show and makes her debut in the summer.

• And as expected, children LOVE her.

• Maki's show quickly becomes a hit - bringing in views from all over the country and even becoming an international hit.

• And it isn't long until she gets nominated for her first award.

• Naturally, she invites her girlfriend but also has Kaito, Kokichi and Shuichi make an appearance.

• And with her final two tickets, she reaches out to the man who forced her to take the first step - Kiyotaka Ishimaru (and his obnoxious fiance).

• She has no idea that she's seriously in the running for it - only thinking it's a formality.

Oh, for the ships i meant either platonic or romantic, i was just wondering :)

Oh, in that case I'd love to talk about my platonic ships for DAfaA!!

I think it's obvious, but I love Tenko, Kaito, and Kokichi as a brot3! They're all pretty smart in their specific fields, but can also be super energetic and seem to only have one braincell sometimes (ADHD energy at its finest, huh?). People have spoken a lot in the past about how Kaito and Kokichi are more similar than they think in canon and narrative foils, but I think Tenko is a good third addition to them because of how narrowly she skirts the line between truth and lies. Like Kaito, she's determined to believe in her friends and trusts in them completely, but like Kokichi, she's wrapped in falsehoods that warp her interactions with others and keep her from making many possible connections with others. She's a middle ground between the two with the same amount of stubbornness and childish nature.

I... Don't like romantic saimatsu, lol. I think it's because of the heteronormativity/amatonormativity involved in how everyone saw their friendship and went "this must be romantic!!" But I like platonic saimatsu! I think they can be great friends, and even though that friendship isn't a large part of dafaa, I still like to include it.

Kirumi and Kaito being friends wasn't something I planned at first, but I kinda like it? They're very different people but have the same core values. I think they could get along and it's a shame there's not more content for them!

*hands to you Rantaro and Maki friendship* I can't explain this one, just take it.

I also really, really like Rantaro and Ryoma as a friendship!! I wanted to see what they could do when teamed up, and I do have some ideas for them in the future. So far, I think they work well! They're actually kinda similar in (canon) backstory when you think about it, and I am nothing if not a sucker for these two getting more development.

I think that's all the friendships I can think of off the top of my head? I could make a relationship chart but I don't think we're far enough in the fic to justify that, lol.

Ryoma Hoshi

Ryoma wanted to plan everything before he does anything.

He thought that going somewhere might be nice but now where should they go? There are many good places to go to so it was a tough choice indeed.

He also thought about some nice gift. And he ended up with a journal. He thought it was a good idea and it was.

Now where should they go... There was a lot of places they could go really. But final decision was escape room.

Both of them had a lot of fun and managed to solve everything together. Rantaro thanked him for everything but Ryoma was actually the thankful one for having someone like Rantaro.

Kirumi Tojo

Kirumi was preparing perfect birthday for her boyfriend Rantaro. Day before she cleaned entire apartment (like she normally does but this time she put extra-extra effort into it).

She asked few of her classmates to come and now it was time for even more preparations.

Luckily Rantaro whouldn't be home anytime soon so she could get to work without ruining the surprise. She baked delicious cakes and prepared lost of food. Wich took few hours of her sleep.

Next day the last thing she needed to do was set up decorations and wait for guests. Wich she did quickly. In all this mess she forgot about most important thing! A worthy gift!

It was too late now since she whouldn't find perfect gift last minute! Becouse of that she was really stressed. Kaede tried to calm her down but Kirumi's perfectionist side couldn't belive she forgot about it.

But she had to deal with it. Rantaro whould be any second now.

Once he came home everyone at the party greeted him and party just went amazing.

Even though she had a lot of fun Kirumi was 1: Exhausted 2: Still very mad at herself for forgetting about gift for Rantaro.

Speaking about gifts it was time to give them and Kirumi had to apologize for not getting anything to him. He then looked at her and his expression clearly said 'are you serious???' but in a manner of 'why do you think you gave me nothing when you literally did everything for all of this to take place?' he told her that too.

He then hugged her and kissed her on the cheek adding "You have nothing to apologize for Kirumi" she smiled and felt better.

After party was over and everyone headed outside it was time to clean all mess that was made. Kirumi was visably exhausted so Rantaro was like "Don't you dare clean this now. Go get some sleep" he then picked her up bridal style and made sure she goes to sleep.

Before he went to bed however he quickly hid some leftovers in the fridge.

Gonta Gokuhara

At first he didn't knew what to do. But in the end he got everyone together and they prepared party for Rantaro.

Gonta tried to think of a good gift for him to show how much he appreciated him.

But nothing was good enough and Gonta was desperately trying to find something. And he came across a hat. A beret to be exact.

He suddenly felt like it was the gift he was looking for so he got it.

Then he came back and helped with rest of party preparations. Mostly with the decorations!

He was really excited and couldn't wait to see Rantaro's happy face once he enters the room.

Of course Gonta was the one leading him there so he tried not to tell anything. He was just happy as usual and managed to not say anything until they got there.

The party turned out great and Rantaro really loved gift from Gonta.

Miu Iruma

For his birthday she started thinking about a large amount of inventions. She thought that the best gift was practical one.

And she literally stole his camera to modify it. She knew she whould be scolded if he notices his camera gone and find out that she stole it but she just thought about scenario where she shows him his new camera and thought he'd be happy about it.

She gave it a lot of cool options and was proud of herself. Lucky for her Rantaro didn't notice that the camera was gone.

When it was his birthday she had it finished. So she approached him and gave it to him.

Rantaro was confused that she gave him exact same camera he had but then she started talking about the fact that she modified it and that she in order to do that she stole it.

He couldn't belive her at the moment but he understood why she did it so he just let it go.

He thought a lot about his birthday really. But he had trouble thinking of what to get for him.

I mean Rantaro had pretty much everything he needed.

So Keebo tried to plan something small but fun! So they went to a cat Cafe! Believe it or not but it was their first time there.

Keebo was actually fascinated by it. He couldn't eat anything or drink but he really loved the cats.

They had very long conversation and Rantaro really enjoyed that moment.

After nice time they spent in Cafe they went on a walk and it got quite chilly. That's when Keebo remembered that he bought a scarf for him.

They shared it together on their way back.

Kaede Akamatsu

She didn't knew what to give to someone who practically has everything. So she started looking for inspiration and she got an idea wich was something she could play on the piano.

She looked for perfect song that fit Rantaro and he whould like. After thinking for a long time she finally found something perfect fitting.

Of course she thought about making something herself but she knew she whouldn't make it in time. So she trained playing what she came up with.

It was really good song but she felt like it wasn't enough so she bought her a cute gift with was a matching bracelet! It was an avocado-

When she started playing the song on his birthday he really loved the song and he could just sit back and relax. It was really calm and pleasant moment.

And then when she was finished she gave that cute accessory and he loved it. They both had it on.

Kaito Momota

Of course he planned star gazing. But it wasn't just that!

They did actually a lot of things before that. Some quick food some bowling. They were out pretty much entire day!

So when it was time for the best part things actually didn't go as he planned. It started raining so they got home as fast as possible.

Kaito didn't seemed too bothered by it. I mean when one plan fails it means it wasn't best idea right?

They ended up cuddling together while they watched some movies.

Angie Yonaga

She was making her gift obviously. And it was a painting of him and her together. It was a realistic one.

And she was great at keeping it all a secret for how long he wouldn't enter her workshop everything whould be just fine.

It wasn't a problem either since she could just shut it wich she did.

Angie really couldn't wait for his birthday! But she had to be patient.

I mean she pretty much didn't say only about the gift since she pretty much asked him if he wanted to do something together.

So they sorta just had a good time out and by the end of the day she led him towards her workshop and showed him the painting.

He was amazed by it and of course said so!

Shuichi Saihara

Ah yes. He was extremely nervous. He didn't try to prepare any surprise since he knew he whouldn't be able to hide it for long.

So they just spent time together whole day went to the cinema. Pretty basic stuff and both of them were happy to share this moments together.

Shuichi felt a little bit bad that he couldn't make this day God knows how special but Rantaro appreciated it.

After all their date was a success so why should he care if it was God knows how big or oryginal.

Tenko Chabashira

She knew his birthday was now closer with each day and she was really nervous on what should she do.

They were dating sure but they were in early stages of relationship and she tried to come up with something.

In the end she tried to find a good gift for him. No... Good isn't best way to say it. She tried to find perfect gift.

She thought about for very long time and she decided to buy him new camera! Since he travels a lot and he takes a lot of photos she thought that she can buy him one. Then she realized he had a great one already and she couldn't afford better one at the time.

Why is having a perfect rich boyfriend so hard? She literally had tons of ideas but none of them whould work.

She felt pretty much mad about it at this point. While she was walking she got small idea. Maybe she can make something? Ah who am I kidding she wouldn't be able to do anything. But trying won't hurt her so it's better this than nothing

He was slowly getting worried when he saw Tenko acting a little bit bothered so he asked her what's wrong.

She didn't wanted to ruin a surprise (she doesn't have) so she lied about some random dude being rude to her.

Rantaro put his hand on her shoulder and told her not to worry about that guy. And tried to comfort her in general.

This made her feel even worse that she can't do anything for his birthday.

She didn't give up but in the end she finally made something. She asked Angie for help and she made a bracelet all by herself. It was mostly green and blue.

She felt a bit embarrassed since it wasn't perfect but she did it in the end. She gave it to him.

Rantaro found it a cute gift and thanked her. He actually didn't expect to get anything from her but he kept wearing bracelet Tenko made for him.

Himiko Yumeno

Magic show. But not the plain one. She tried to think of least known tricks and practiced it for a shit-ton of time.

She really put a lot of effort into it but she also tried to have some rest since if she whould keep practicing she whouldn't be able to preform.

She also wanted his sisters to come and some were even assisting her.

The show was amazing and Rantaro couldn't help but smile. His sisters had a great time too!

He couldn't thank her enough.

Maki Harukawa

She didn't knew what to do since she herself didn't celebrate any birthdays.

So she came up with something basic. She cooked dinner and prepared small gift for him wich was a photo album.

The album was empty though but the photo on the first page wich was them on their first adventure together.

She smiled while she thought of that time it was very fun trip indeed.

After they ate together and Rantaro received her gift they spend rest of the afternoon looking at photos that whould fit the album.

Together they thought about how many things they went through and how fun it was.

Kokichi Ouma

He was lowkey panicking. He had no ideas on what to give his boyfriend for his birthday.

Trying to think of something Kokichi walked around the town and he thought about something.

He thought about getting him matching scarf to his. It was quite simple but he hoped Rantaro whould like it.

After getting one and when it was his birthday he tied scarf around his neck and hugged him from behind "Happy birthday Rantaro!" he added.

They spent entire day together and Rantaro didn't take off his scarf. He was actually thankful for it.

But back to them spending time they mainly walked around the town doing whatever came to mind. It was actually a lot of fun.

Korekiyo Shinguji

After dating for so long Korekiyo found it frustrating that he couldn't think of anything special for his birthday.

Expecially since he whould be cool with anything really since he just doesn't expect to do anything.

They had currently a small break from traveling so he tried to think of something small but fun.

So they went rock wall climbing. Both of them were pretty experienced with it and they loved it.

After they were finished Korekiyo noticed that he forgot to take something with him- a bag.

You see this bag was the gift he went with and Korekiyo couldn't belive that he forgot it.

However he acted cool with it and tried to mask it with invitation to his place.

Rantaro was alright with it so they went inside and Korekiyo managed to give him that bag. It was actually really cool and from that time he allways used it whenever they traveled together!

Tsumigi Shirogane

She was really excited for his birthday and she thought about a good gift.

Tsumigi actually planned this ahead and she sew for him something. It was a shit of his favorite fictional character.

She actually managed to get his size right and it fit him perfectly. She was really glad he liked his gift.

The two went to the restaurant after that and got some quite fancy dinner. They had amazing time together.

Rest of the day they spent together aswell just cuddling and watching something random on the TV.

Happy Daisuke Kaiser’s Day! (Only those who listened to Michi e no Armor Shinka will get the reference alas)

Day 14 - Favorite Ship / OTP

Hello Hello, I’m Nina and you know that I love a bunch of ships. Many of them. No matter if m/f, f/f or m/m. Today, I’d like to apologize for being unable to go rewatch 02 for fresh new content so we will sit here and use what I have on my reach.

Let’s begin saying that I’d LOVE to talk about something new, but can’t. Sorry I can’t. And my main current ship is dead (LOL) so I’m picking something before falling in love with Maki/Daigo. Yes, by the pic of choice... I bring you some of the best DaiMiya/Daiyako moments of 02.

“But Ni, Miyako and Daisuke are like siblings!” Yes, I got it. But you can’t deny the possibilities of Daisuke and Miyako developing a crush on each other later. That, before Miyako and Ken becoming an item. I appreciate KenMiya, but I also appreciate DaiMiya & DaiKen. So, this is a very much OT3 for me.

For Miyako’s side... We have episode 31 where She cares so much about Daisuke’s opinion of her. There’s many ways of seeing this scene -- romantic and platonic. The main cause of the Miyako’s inner conflict is definitely because of this line:

Which makes MIyako have this inner dialogue:

Miyako gets very much confused and uncomfortable with Daisuke’s comment, enough to start asking why is she so different from Hikari. And, another point of this episode is just when the group -- in the Dark Ocean dimension -- sees Daisuke and when Miyako goes to meet him... He ran through her. Like a ghost. It made Miyako very much panicked and she even mentions it during her panic attack.

Now, this episode is the only material I suppose to be able as potential DaiMiya content. Like said, it can be read as platonic and romantic -- it’s up to you.

Now, for Daisuke’s parts. As everyone knows... Daisuke has a big crush on HIkari (and possible a childish crush on Taichi, but we’re not here for that today) so sometimes it’s confusing him caring about Miyako’s opinions of other boys. He’s pretty jealous. Biggest example is on Hurricane Touchdown movie. Wallace’s pretty much into Miyako and he gets totally angry at it.

But how about 02? Again, I’m using stuff I’ve found on my main blog tag (yes, another acc)

Daisuke seems jealous in ep 9, when Miyako talks about Ken. She mentions Ken’s beauty and Iori comes reminding them that Ken’s very athletic. Daisuke responds very distressed “I’M SORRY FOR NOT BEING SO ATHLETIC!” to them all.

Next we have this scene, on Miyako’s rant for Shurimon’s debut episode:

Miyako’s rant somehow hits Daisuke hard when she mentions that she likes cool guys (like Michael, and later Ken lol) as makes Daisuke in the background do that face at that line. I think he even has done a “huh?” but can’t remember now. He wants Miyako’s attention.

On episode 30...

He suddenly goes on a polite manner by calling Miyako, who he never uses ‘-san’ despite her being a year older than him, and makes her confused about that. He blushes next and acts very tsundere as well lol.

Not sure why the sudden “Miyako-san” but it’s a nice DaiMiya moment haha.

Next moment we have...

The kids teasing this digifool. Note that Iori says that and his reaction only changes when Miyako teases him. He blushes, not sure if it is because of her or because he finally caught the message. This is episode 31, where we also got that one hint from Miyako’s side btw.

Next DaiMiya tease is...

Daisuke helping Miyako, at the end of ep 34. We know during the episode there’s a scene in which Miyako helps Hikari, stealing Daisuke’s chance of having a romantic scene (lol) but at the end we have this same scene repeated AND he helps Miyako. The BR dub implies he mistook Miyako’s voice with Hikari’s... But honestly, I think the JP version made it like?? He’s not confused, he definitely helped her. And she’s confused, so that’s why he responds like that.

Considering this scene predates the Christmas episode scene...

... where Miyako compliments Ken’s sweet and innocent laugh, making Daisuke start something only to be interrupted by Ken’s mother. Why was he trying to say? Maybe something like “I’m also cute” or something like?? Honestly, he’s always trying so hard to make people look at him ;7;

THEN, new fresh content. I love the tease he does on this clip:

They just met after a long time separated and the first thing he does is to tease her. Bless him, bless her. This clip is a blessing for both KenMiya and DaiMiya fans. Also for the 02 squad fans.

There it is, not so new stuff but some of my favorite moments between Daisuke & Miyako which I believe to be able to be seen as romantic tease.

Semi-formal critique/rant about a lack of  P1/P5 comparisons

When the first Persona 5 PV came out, there was a general agreed consensus that Persona 5 was going to be the Persona 2 duology (with Innocent Sin being the most compared Persona 2 game) of the modern games. This consensus grew more and more as more playable characters were introduced, character info was released, and certain gameplay elements were introduced, like demon negotiation and GUNS as a secondary ranged weapon.

That last one is more of a Persona 1/SMT gameplay element but whatever.

By the time of the game’s release, and with more people playing the game/watching let’s play and walkthroughs (and the anime, and the seemingly slow release of the official manga I can only occasionally find ~not Mementos Missions btw~), this consensus was and is still around. It’s not as strong as before, but it’s there. There are also some people that like to say the two games were handle the same way (with Innocent Sin once again being the most compared Persona 2 game) via characters and certain plot points. I actually made an old post about it, right here.

With the Japanese Release of Persona 5 Royal, these claims exponentially rose again to strong levels to where I literally wanted to go into Tim Barry’s Royal Stream chat and type ‘please stop talking about persona 2 and nyary please stop talking about persona 2 and nyary.’ Why? Because after watching much of Royal to the best of my ability, I come to the realize that, Persona 5 Royal at least, is trying to be the Persona 1 of the modern games. And fair warning, I will go into major spoilers for Royal in depths, based off what is known.

We have Reiji Kido and Goro Akechi, bastard children who revenge over their father is their main goal. Yet due to one factor being present (or absent), they show the different outcomes of their fates, one being able to move on after his revenge for thirst and live a normal life with his own family, while the other who fate is unknown (in Original Persona 5; Royal will be touch upon under the read more) as his revenge possibly costed his life.

We have Masao ‘Mark’ Inaba and Ryuji Sakamoto, two good teenagers who are momma’s boys and delinquents at their school. Yet the title of delinquent is either truthfully earn because of actual delinquent-like behavior that will lead to a future career, or a title gradually earned after an accident that costed a possible future career had it never happened at all.

We have Eriko ‘Elly’ Kirishima and Ann(e) Takamaki, both who are in fact one-fourth American models. Yet given how they appear so differently, it must have factor into how are treated by other student, with one looking more of the typical Japanese person she is deem odd mostly due to her ‘eccentricities’, the other appearing more foreign with blonde hair and blue eyes due to a chance of genetics she is treated unfairly due to rumors and enforcing negative stereotypes.

Once you get into the Royal Third Semester, the comparisons grow into new levels that took me by surprise.

For one, we have Kasumi Yoshizawa. Kasumi can be best describe as the love child/clone of Maki (with that red ribbon and some parts of her personality) and Naoya (P1′s Manga Protag’s background of sorts). For you see, Kasumi is not Kasumi. She is Sumire Yoshizawa, twin of Kasumi Yoshizawa. Sumire loves the real Kasumi, but the poor girl is envious of her older and much more talented sister. It grew and grew until Sumire is full with such negativity and hate with her life as how it is and how she is, Sumire couldn’t handle it anymore and decides to go into traffic to possibility kill herself.

And the real Kasumi dies trying to save her younger. Needing counselling for her depression and guilt of what happened, Sumire’s cognitive of herself change into her believing (with someone’s help, who I will discuss) she is Kasumi and lives her life as Kasumi. It’s only until the Third Semester does Sumire remembers the truth. It took awhile, but Sumire was able to overcome everything and awaken fully, with what appears to be Kasumi herself -that’s right a dead person- becoming Cendrillon. 

So one is wondering who the heck made Sumire believe she is Kasumi? It’s none other than Takuto Maruki! Everyone figured this man shouldn’t be trust, but oh boy. We weren’t expecting any of this sorts! For one, Takuto is a Persona User. Now, adult Persona Users are canon since the first game with Takahisa Kandori, but it’s Kandori we ought to focus on (and only Kandori in Persona 1).

Kandori is nothing like Takuto. Kandori is a business man through and through, being the head president of the Sebec Branch in Mikage-Cho. Both men believe it or not, have the same goal of sorts of imposing their ideal version of the world over reality with their own means, Takuto with his Persona Powers that sort became supercharge after Yabadadoo’s defeat by the PT, Kandori with the Deva System Sebec build.

Takuto honestly has good intentions, wanting a world where people can be happy without heartache and pain, which started when his former girlfriend had to go to the hospital after her parents died (in what I think was a burglary gone wrong). In fact, Takuto’s status as an antagonist is interesting. He knows the PT and has a Co-op/Confidant with Joker. While exploiting them for his research, he does so in his belief he is going to help them and everyone else because his way is the best. In fact, Takuto believes himself so much, he wants to make sure his ideal world will happen by trying stop Joker from sending a calling call by using Goro as one weird last resort.

Because according to Takuto, the real Goro is dead. The real Goro was taken hostage on Shido’s ship, but the destruction of the Palace pretty much doom Goro to a watery grave. Because of Joker’s unknowing wish to see Goro again (if you pick the right option), Takuto was able to use his powers to start the Third Semester on 12/24, the day where Joker canonically has to turn himself in. The Goro here is in effect, Dream!Goro who is eerily just like the real Goro. When Joker decides to listen to Dream!Goro of not accept the dream world and to accept reality as it is, that’s when Takuto takes out the big guns (aka, use his Persona). After losing to the PT via Personas, Takuto makes another go at it by almost became GOD by fusing with his Persona. When he goes back to his human self, Takuto fucking fights Joker in a fist fight and you pretty much ask yourself:  how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man? But at the end, Takuto accepts it, and is given a second chance at life.

Kandori is just a selfish prick who only cares for himself. How much of a selfish prick? When the Deva System got attached to Maki’s subconscious and her Ideal World, Kandori decides to exploits Maki’s powers (via Aki, aka, Girl in Black) as a mean to his own end of becoming GOD. He also couldn’t give a shit about the P1 crew, hating them all and likes taunting them. Kandori couldn’t care less about his half bastard brother’s revenge goal, but comments Reiji does have that Kandori blood lol. 

And believe or not, Kandori is one of the few Persona villains to win. He actually achieves his dream of being God of a new world...and feels unfilled by it. By the time the Persona 1 crew confronts him, the man is particularly wishing for death because he has nothing else to live for since who knows how long his world can last. Kandori would have probably at surrender to them if Nanjo didn’t push Kandori into one last fight. Like Takuto, Kandori fuses with his Persona (though it’s not like he planned it), but he dies in this battle, pretty much as a empty man and as a possible warning of a wrong future.

Though Kandori gets the last word by revealing to the P1 crew that he isn’t the real person they should be focusing on. That goes to the real Maki, who is still sick in her bed (as it turns out, the Maki everyone is with is the Ideal Maki of real Maki’s dream, who is nothing like her).

(I forgot to mention it, but there’s also a brief moment on 12/31 when Joker dreams of an empty and dark Shujin Academy. It’s really similar to St. Hermelin during the parts the P1 crew have get lost travel through the school.)

With that being said about Royal, one can see what Persona 1 elements show up, how it works in both the original based game and Royal re-released, and the understand how Royal is trying to be the Persona 1 of modern Persona games. Yet people are still only taking about Persona 5 and how it’s like the Persona 2 duology (mainly Persona 2 Innocent Sin; I seen way too many people discuss in the Tim Barry chat how getting posses by your Persona came from IS but it was there since the first game).

And so I finally has to ask the question I thought I would never ask:  Why do Persona fans tend to not make P1/P5 comparisons? 

Is there something about Persona 1 that makes it easy to not make these comparisons? Like, I know the earlier games aren’t easy to play (especially one; I actually can’t play in First Person games in general because I get headaches from the format after half an hour or so of gameplay). That’s why the option to watch a let play walkthrough, reading the manga, listening to the audio drama, or do a combination of all the above exist. 

But is there’s something in Persona 1 in all of its materials, that makes it unworthy of talk like Persona 2 to be worthy of a comparison to Persona 5? I am in no means bashing the Persona 2 duology at all but I genuine want to know, without the need to cause discourse.We already have enough as it is.

There’s that same base assumption: Culprit = Mastermind = Kokichi. But what if one of those isn’t true? Or, well, two? Could it be Culprit = Mastermind? Or Culprit = Kokichi? Or just... well, neither?

Man, just... the fact that you’re trying to shut down discussion really lends itself to suspicion. I don’t think I’m drawing the wrong conclusion by saying she was the one who cleaned up after the fact, but I suppose the option of her outright killing Kokichi or mercy-killing Kaito is still a possibility? I still don’t think she’s the culprit because I don’t think she was able to get in until after the crossbow shots were fired (aka let in by Kaito) but...

Or... or if she found Kaito dead already, from illness, and then crushed the body to frame Kokichi for it... but if she thought he was the mastermind, then she would think he’d have control of the full trial and would know that selecting him as the culprit would be the wrong answer, right??? Yeah okay following that idea to the end was pointless in the end but at least I got it out of my system. >3> I also don’t think she would disrespect Kaito’s body like that tbh unless she had to, so...

Meanwhile Maki is all about that supposed ‘direct’ evidence. Which, you know, fair! .... is what I would say if I didn’t think she was participating in a cover-up. But the motive behind the coverup... just saying ‘she wants to save Kaito’ isn’t really good enough for me, because that means she’s forfeiting everyone else’s lives in the process of the trial proceeds by its own rules - which it seems to be doing.... And, yeah, everything outside is gone, and she did agree to mercy-kill everyone before they saw the flashback light, but -

Oh, that’s an interesting thought. Kaito overthrows Kokichi, accidentally killing him in the process thanks to Maki’s poisoned arrows. Kaito succumbs to illness, or is going to in short order. Monokuma AI is still up and running, and Maki thinks it’s just because it can run independently of Kokichi, maybe? So she takes advantage of it in order to mercy-kill everyone like Gonta (and maybe Kokichi) wanted last chapter, while letting Kaito die without anyone else thinking he was a murderer? Is this her using her Ultimate Assassin ability in the most compassionate way she can, maybe?

I.... don’t know if I’m 100% satisfied with that answer... but it is an answer..........

It’s not a question of wants, my dear Sweetcheeks - she needs to push this narrative. The real question is if she actually believes it herself.

Defeat... but how does this defeat him? The theory I have addresses why she would be so determined/have more knowledge than she’s letting on, but it definitely doesn’t neatly answer how implicating him as the culprit would ‘defeat’ him outside of letting Kaito out unscathed. :x

Good question, tbh - why did Kaito’s voice come out of the exisal? I’d consider the idea of them both being in there, but... but we discovered a body, right? And bloodstains? Unless an old body was reused (and there’s precedence in the series for that), but I don’t know how they would manage it???

Love Live! as Mystic Messenger Remake

Now that my nice hacker theme is ready, here we go!

So because i love mysme almost half as much as i adore love live, i have always thought it would be awesome to remake mystic messenger using the characters from love live (u’s, specifically)

I’m getting more serious about it, so I decided to make this blog to organize thoughts and progress.

I’ll put the rest of the details under a cut so this post doesn’t get obscenely long, so thanks for reading and if you’re interested, please message me!!

The characters corresponding so far goes like this:

Zen: Nico

Yoosung: Hanayo

You might notice that Rin doesn’t have a place in this AU. Therefore, I’m thinking of adjusting Yoosung’s route to make it platonic between Hanayo and MC, and maybe make it a RinPana shipping route, and kind of combine Rin and Hanayo into Yoosung’s character, somehow...? The story of his route will take quite a bit of adjusting if this ends up happening, so if you have any thoughts don’t hesitate to send them!!

Jaehee: Eli

Jumin: Maki

Seven: Honoka

Saeran: Chika (get it? since they’re basically twins since chika is such a copy-paste honk) (not that im hating i love my mikan daughter)

V: Nozomi

Vanderwood: Umi + Kotori (Honoka’s moms)

There’s no Vanderwood route in the game but if this project does go to completion for all the other canon routes I would absolutely love to make a “Vanderwood” route for these two

I really like this setup, but if anyone has other ideas I’m totally willing to hear them! I’ll probably leave Rika as is since she tends to get a lot of hate and although I really like her as a character I don’t want to upset anyone by associating their best girl with a character who does so many... bad things...

Other than the characters changing, the basic plot and story of the game will remain the same, it will just be a sort of AU. An important thing to note is that, except for the potential changes to Yoosung’s route like I mentioned above, everything will basically be the same, just copy/paste from the actual game, changing the character’s names and genders, and maybe a few minor adjustments if I think they’re worth it. I’d say I want to fix all the plot holes in mysme but I don’t think it’s possible at this point. MC will remain a girl in the CGs, but I’d love to be able to allow the user to input their gender and pronouns to use them in the chatrooms and VNs.

So as far as what has to be done, I have a basic idea of what I want to do and what I’ll definitely need help with:

I’m using Ren’py as the engine to make the game, so I need to learn how to use it and code the actual game mechanics

The GUI has to be designed and edited to look as much like MysMe as possible. I don’t think it’ll be able to be exactly like the mysme app, but i can probably get it pretty similar

This is where the real work begins, lol

All of the chatrooms and VNs need to be transcribed and edited to have the names of the Love Live characters. I’m not going to include the “missed” chatrooms, the player will just be able to go through all of it at once and they’ll be included in everything.

The character sprites from SIF need to be edited to have the outfits from MysMe. It’s really only important for Saeran/Unknown, but I’d also like to change Eli and Maki to be wearing business formal clothes, and I’d like Honoka to have Seven’s outfit since it’s so iconic. Also, Umi and Kotori would have to wear secret agent clothes when we do Seven’s route, but that probably won’t happen for awhile, and I don’t know how everyone else feels, but I’d like to give Kotori credit for being a bit more fashionable than Vanderwood and their leopard print mixed with purple leather jacket...

Big one: the CGs need to be redrawn with Love Live characters. If anyone is willing to help out and draw a few because they’re just interested in this project, that would be amazing. Other than that, if there’s someone who is confident that they could imitate either the Mystic Messenger art style, or the Love Live style (either the anime or the SIF cards art), or has a nice, clean style, I’d love to commission them. In addition, if this ends up happening and an artist who is really good with imitating the style takes our commissions for this, I would also take donations to help out from anyone who is interested. Of course, I won’t accept any money until I’m absolutely sure it’s going to happen, and the only thing left to do is the drawing. All of the donations will go 100% to funding the commissions, I’m not trying to make money from this, I just want it to happen and have satisfying quality!!

Like I said above, the story for Yoosung’s route (and perhaps others) will have to be changed if we go along with my original idea. If you aren’t able to contribute by drawing, editing sprites, or transcribing, I’d love to just have people who are willing to talk about the plot changes and help me work out any plot holes and various problems.
