This is going to sound like I'm arriving at this attitude much later than I reasonably should have, and quite possibly I am, but I'm now beginning to feel a gut-level jolt of horror at the thought of what the socially conservative Right is getting up to that I haven't felt since the decade before last during the last great culture war over Christianity vs. atheism and gay rights. The current scene of conservative politicians on the warpath wielding sledgehammers aimed at drag culture, gender medicine, and the teaching of anything uncomfortable related to race (among other targets) is not a pretty sight and is ratcheting up the current war to a level I hadn't fully anticipated.

This part is going to be a rather self-centered take, but... It actually makes me feel nostalgic for a decade ago, when what is now called "wokeness" was this type of ideology that was exploding online and in my academic environment but I didn't really have a name for, until in 2014 I discovered a blogger named Scott Alexander who called it SJ and was basically the first person I had ever seen seriously and effectively address it. I'm even nostalgic for the feeling prior to encountering Scott's online community that I was pretty much alone and probably just kind of evil for taking issue with the ideology and should maybe just let progressive culture go on its merry way as it didn't particularly seem to be causing real concrete trouble or upsetting anyone else throughout the political spectrum. Even from a purely self-centered point of view, in a way this wasn't as gut-twisting as seeing all of this reach the mainstream and an opposing side that I do not want as my bedfellows lashing back as viciously as possible, which is what I see today.

Reblog the fundraisers you mfs!!!!! I don't know why you all skip those to reblog some pic of a banner saying "FREE PALESTINE" or of news from Columbia University! Literally these people from Gaza have made an account on Tumblr and is writing in english to communicate what they need and you all are coming onto my blog or on the tag and not reblogging their posts. We have people both Palestinian and non Palestinian vetting the fundraisers! I mean more the reblogs, more the chance of the fundraisers gaining momemtum, the more there would be a chance of a donation. Please donate if you can and reblog!!! and follow them if it is possible.

@/mohammedayesh has posted about getting leaflets, telling them to evacuate Rafah. They are very low on funds. Go follow them and reblog their posts and donate if possible.

We have @/haneenatya too whose mother is suffering from eye stroke and need to evacuate. Please I have been following them for some days and it doesn't seem their own posts are getting much attention.

Follow them! They are on tumblr. Reblog their posts and donate. The protests in universities are being done on account of them. They should be our focus.

(EDIT: on re-reading my post it seems as if I am dismissing all that the students of universities are doing. I am not. I just meant, since all of it is to help Palestinians, we must not ignore them when they ask for help).

Like, you are so close. You are so close to getting the point. "Big" IPs *can only exist because they are normal*. They will *never* be weird. They will *never* do what you want. Go find some smaller IPs. Bring back discovery. Bring back never having heard of a book before you buy it. Bring back watching obscure anime online that none of your friends know about. Bring back trying new things, even if they're bad or cheaply made. That is how you get *weird*.

Bisan is calling for another global strike!

I saw some posts just outlining Jan 21st, and wanted to clarify that Bisan has called for a full seven days of action.

What a global strike would look like is:

calling in sick to work

purchasing bare essentials ahead of the week so you can observe the general boycott of goods / buying as little as you genuinely can

putting in a concerted effort to elevate Palestinian voices and make it clear that this strike is in support of a permanent ceasefire!

For those who will have to purchase necessary goods during this time, please observe the brands that the BDS movement is asking us to boycott!

Some things about Allan:

He’s the only one who reacts to the narrator

He’s the only doll (besides the Weird House) who isn’t swayed in some way by Ken’s takeover

He also declares himself as “Ken's buddy" (making canon his official box description) which makes his inability to be swayed more interesting

He has bendable legs (probably the only reason he tries to jump the fence instead of going around like everyone else)

He easily decked a half-dozen construction Kens and could probably singlehandedly win the Ken fight
