8th May 2024 - I finally got around to starting Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, I played the first game last year and adored it because it was a spiritual successor to Mega Man Zero, and Mega Man Zero 3 is one of my all-time fave platformers. IntiCreates is doing amazing with 2 and I can’t wait to play through the game this summer!

Agsudisg I'm so glad you liked it, Kazi, I literally sat down the moment I finished reading and started drawing cuz you freaking killed me, I MEAN, vox being stubborn and denying help, and Alastor stubbornly giving him the aid he needs, but crouched in their respective toxic egos and self-image? So delicious. Alastor, who needs to know why he was left behind, and vox who's desperately pouring himself into the new thing... Ahhhh...

The part where he implies he really was running off to die...and Alastor goes all soft...the shared frequency, the antenna petting... I reread that multiple times bc it's so good...and the claws, the claws, vox denies wanting help from alastor to the last, but the claws!

(also we tots need full seasons and reruns of 'Let's Shit on Vox', I bet Alastor even encourages to call in with more info, not that anyone would bc they're too scared. Hey, does carmilla have to listen his obsession LOL)

Heheh the part where "Alastor goes all soft" is also a little on the part of RR!AU characterization, so it's a bit exaggerated. He's trying to ween his way in appealing to Vox again, but RR!AU Vox is just so tired. Alastor keeps bringing up the past....This was kind of a wacky scenario to write because it does skip/make you infer a lot of stages of development, but the AU is close enough to canon that I think it's not far to imagine filling in the gaps hhh....

LMFAO yes, Alastor def encourages call-ins, "The 'Let's Shit on Vox' show, your one-stop opportunity to diss Hell's most saturated overlord!" -- on the rare occasion someone actually called in, Alastor killed whoever said something off about Vox that wasn't to his "flavor" of hate.

Carmilla has already read through these two idiots and just rolls her eyes at their immaturity. If she's there for Alastor's radio show, she's just in the background, utterly done and convinced they're playing everything up for entertainment at this point. Now that has me thinking, if Alastor ever started feeling something unfamiliar and god-forbid genuinely *good*(????), he would probably consult Rosie or Carmilla for it first........and Vox would ask Charlie.....oh..........

9. What are your file name conventions?

I have terrible file organization. Many of them are named "a", "aa3", "asgv", "fhgh", or other random keyboard smashes. Recently, I have a bad habit of naming files "sketch1", "sk1", "skht1", or some misspelled way-- it's gotten so bad I'm up to "sketch22".... I find things by icon only.

14. Any favorite motifs?

Straight edges and shapes, maybe? I started drawing with an anime style though I'm mostly into western media-- I think it's very satisfying to have nice shape design/silhouettes though, but I don't draw in a super cartoony or exaggerated style so it's kind of hard to tell that I like and have fun doing it. I'm kind of scattered and like to dip my foot into everything unfortunately.

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated?

None really, but if I had to pick one for HH, maybe this one.

For my older art, definitely this one. I mean, I don't love it anymore, but I really thought I ATE with the concept at the time.

Background: This is the Gunvolt from the bad ending of Gunvolt 3. Right before he completely disappeared, RiFT sent his body to the Net. In order to save him, RiFT reconstructed Gunvolt into a Net Navi and asked him to join his team to protect the Multiverse. Seeing how his power is more controlled in the Net, as well as thanks for saving his life, Gunvolt agreed and became part of the team. Although anyone can use him, he was specifically assigned to Chaud since Lan already had Elecman as an Elec type Net Navi.

Speaking of which, the two get along like brothers. Elecman is really impressed with the amazing Adept techniques, and even asked Welch to invent Battle Chips based on Gunvolt's attacks so he can use them himself.

Gunvolt feels a bit awkward around Nana, who reminds him so much of Joule.

Upon reuniting with Elise, Gunvolt was glad that she was given a second chance like he was. Out of all the enemy Adepts he had to fight, the real Elise was the one he regret having to fight. The two are now good friends and have put their past history behind them.

Gunvolt is quite amazed how the abilities of the Net Navis are similar to Adepts. Many of them remind him of Adepts he met in the past, such as Burnerman being similar to Viper, Tenguman being similar to Jota, and even Elecman and Megaman being similar to himself.

Just like how Megaman now has a tame version of Beast Out within him, Gunvolt has a tamed version of Primal Dragon within him. Although this gives him no transformation, it does give him abilities he only had as a Primal Dragon.

The Inevitable Laix2 Essay

So. It's been three months since asgv3 came out, eh? Well. I just beat laix2. for realsies. and i have Feelings. this is late, but it was nonetheless inevitable.

Today i'm gonna talk about parallels! Primarily with Mother Computer, Ypsilon, and Copen. Full spoilers ahead.

We have Lola, the cheery idol sidekick, reduced to a ruthless machine bent on wiping out all robots. Her focus on this task and her desparation to succeed are familiar. Quite so.

Mother being a parallel version of Lola, one grieving the inevitable death of Copen, is fucking brilliant. It makes me want to sob. It's so good.

Mother is, in my opinion, a great reflection of ASGV1 Copen. Both are grieving the loss of their parents, Mother's Creator and Copen's father. They're wrought with grief, but cannot process it properly. Instead, they cling to the remaining ideology of their parent.

For Copen, he clung to the fear of adepts instilled in him by his father. Mother, however, severely misunderstood what her Creator wanted. From what we see of the tower the game takes place in, the world is desolate. Humans went extinct. And Creator Copen built the robots in an effort to preserve the legacy of humanity, as well as with the hope of reviving it.

Mother hated the robots, because she thought their growing independance meant they aimed to "replace" humanity. Which is exactly what ASGV1 Copen thought about adepts.

They're both afraid that the legacy they've been given will vanish, and thus lash out. Mother has the addition of being a robot. Preserving humanity is a value programmed into her. And she cannot get rid of it, but she cannot harm her fellow robots either, not without a human to overwrite her commands.

I just. Like her a lot. Mother is also a great glimpse into the future. Let's not forget that she's Lola, beneath it all. Laix Lola is lucky in the sense that Ix Copen is a cyborg, and has been alive for more than a century. Creator Copen lived and died human, with a human lifespan. He might've even died young, from how his spirit looks.

It's questionable how old Lola was when her Copen died, and how long she spent without him. Both her and ASGV Copen could get worse in their extremism because they were allowed to go unchecked; Mother as the ultimate authority, and Copen with Nori's enabling.

ASGV Lola is also gonna have to face that loss one day, and we've already seen how well she'll take it. It's... tragic.

Especially how Mother idolizes humanity at the cost of herself and her fellows when Creater Copen's intentions were entirely benign.

Creator Copen is a version of Copen who loved humanity to its fullest. He recorded everything, recreated whatever environments he could, built robots in the image of humans, of adepts, and I think he built a robot in his own image so Mother wouldn't be as lonely.

There's so much that doesn't make sense otherwise. Why would he build robots to be siblings if he didn't think of his own dear sister? Why make them have mentors and give them hobbies and gimmicks and let them grow?

It's interesting, to think, that ASGV Copen was taught hate, but Mother was taught love, and yet they ended up the same way nonetheless.

And now I wanna talk about My Boy Ypsilon.

I've already posited the theory that Creator Copen made Ypsilon to keep Mother company. And yet, where do we meet him? Broken down, the only robot outside the tower. Mother hates this lad. And even so, he is desparate for her approval. He modifies himself and fights Copen again and again, but Mother doesn't care.

She hates him specifically because he looks like Copen, in my opinion. She already loathes robots for daring to replace humanity, so how would she feel about someone daring to replace her dear Creator?

The choice of her name is notable here. She is referred to as Mother by all, which makes the (lack of) bond Mother and Ypsilon share distinctly parental. Mother is, by all accounts, a neglectful parent. That's why I brought up Professor Kamizono in part previously.

We know almost nothing about the guy. He did experiments for Sumeragi, which doesn't say much about his moral code, and died when Asimov broke Gunvolt out of there, and yet... Copen's behaviour shows how much he wants his father to be proud of him.

Thinking back, it is his own father's gun that Asimov takes Copen out of the fight with in ASGV1.

It's just. The Same. all the way down. How Professor Kamizono treated Copen affected how Copen treats Lola affected how Lola treats Ypsilon.

I joked once that Laix2 is about not becoming your parents, but like, it is.

But it's also where the chain breaks, in a sense.

And here we have the True End of laix2. Creator Copen's spirit appears, because he cannot rest until he saves Mother from herself, because this isn't what he wanted for her.

She's lived for so long and she's so bitter, she wants to rest. And she gets to, together with her Creator, which is only possible because his love for her brought him back from the grave to help Copen out.

And then again, Copen only stormed the tower initially to save Kohaku. I joke about iX Copen being Chad Dad Copen, but c'mon! Do you see what I've been talking about!

The cycle of misery is broken through sheer parental love! For the True End, Copen throws himself through the tower twice to save Kohaku, and basically adopts the now directionless Null, all to get back to the rest of his family.

(Side tangent: Null's desire to find her purpose reminds me of ASGV2 Copen, actually. Once she finds her "purpose", she offers to basically kill herself for it, same as Copen by the end of ASGV2 throwing himself into a purpose he no longer believes in, because, in both cases, it is a "duty" assigned by a higher power. Null is neat but she doesn't feed my brainworms as much as Mother.)

Except, maybe. Yknow. Now Ypsilon's parent is dead. So here we fucking go again.

But maybe, the robots will accept change. Humanity as they dreamed of is gone, but it doesn't mean the end of life! In her final moments, Mother turns her room into a field of flowers.

A new start for a new form of humanity. Not better, not worse, just new.

 Da ja bekanntlich nicht mal Gott an einem Sonntag arbeitet, muss es eben ein anderer machen. Also übernahm ich diesen Part. Zum Glück kam man relativ zeitig von Stuttgart nach Hause, so dass man keine Probleme mit dem Aufstehen hatte. Nachdem ich bis 13 Uhr gearbeitet hatte, standen heute Nachmittag zwei Partien auf dem Zettel. Von der Bundesliga in die Kreisliga; das schaffte so mancher Profi auch schon, wenn auch aus anderen Gründen. Um 14.00 begann das Spiel FC Wüstenselbitz gegen ASGV Döhlau. Ein Sportheim, welches in der Region zu den schönsten zählt; ein Fußballplatz und außen herum nur Wald. Der Kriegswald um genau zu sein. Das ist die Heimstätte des FCW. Sportlich gesehen befindet sich Wüstenselbitz derzeit auf dem neunten Tabellenplatz mit 29 Punkten. Ganze sechs Ausfälle musste Wüstenselbitz heute kompensieren, folglich stellte sich die Mannschaft von alleine auf. Manuel Krauss schoss in der ersten Halbzeit das Tor und gleichzeitig den Siegtreffer für die Hausherren. Perfekt, da wir ja eh nur eine Halbzeit schauen konnten, um pünktlich beim 15.00 Uhr Spiel in Oberweißenbach zu sein. Hoffentlich erfährt jetzt die Groundhopper-Polizei nicht, dass ich nur eine Halbzeit gesehen hab, sonst hab ich ein RIESIGES Problem. Döhlau, die den 13. Tabellenplatz belegen, befinden sich derzeit im Abstiegskampf. Weiter also nach Oberweißenbach.

Dort spielte heute die SG Ort/Oberweißenbach gegen den FC Stammbach. Ein kleines Derby kann man sagen. Für die Stammbächer, die sich ebenfalls im Abstiegskampf befinden ging es heute um sehr viel. Auf beiden Seiten gab es immer wieder gefährlich Angriffe und gute Chancen. Letztendlich schoss Martin Endreß das 1:0 für die Gäste. Wichtige Punkte für Stammbach. In der Tabelle sieht es so aus: Ort befindet sich mit 32 Punkten auf Platz 7; Stammbach ist 14ter mit 19 Punkten. Zwei Tage, drei Fußballspiele. Ein (fast) perfektes Wochenende neigt sich dem Ende zu. Am Freitag geht es dann wieder nach Nürnberg, wo wir beim Heimspiel unsere Freunde aus Gelsenkirchen empfangen.  S.F.
