Fire Emblem Boys! Parenting Headcanons!
Here’s a short collection of headcanons of how the fire emblem boys are as parents! Includes characters from fire emblem engage and three houses!
Characters are: Kagetsu, Ashe, Claude, and Diamant
Word Count: 896 (approx)
Tumblr media
Kagetsu: I saw a video of a man doing this challenge to hang from a pull up pole for 100s, and he did it with a baby strapped to his chest, yeah, that’s Kagetsu
Kagetsu would totally give his babies rubber knives and stuff for fun. He wants his kids to be powerful fighters when they’re grown up after all.
Speaking of that, Kagetsu would totally sword fight his kids once they’re old enough and have at least learned the basics.
Kagetsu when his kids are older: “Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!”
Kagetsu sometimes would go too far during training sessions, and his wife(you ;) ) would have to tell him to reel it back in. Kagetsu would feel bad and let his kids win after that. Pretending to be real hurt by their hits and all that. “Oh wow! Look at how strong you guys have gotten! You’re able to take even me down.”
Kagetsu’s wife would totally step in to have some fun as well with play fighting Kagetsu. And it turns into a real fun family bonding moment. “Aghast, my own love betraying me?! How could you!” Lots of giggles from the kids during and after.
Overall, very good dad 9/10.
Tumblr media
Ashe: Oh, you know he would just be the sweetest dad ever. Ashe’s kids would just be the cutest little angels.
He’d teach them how to cook and all teaching sessions would end up being a giggle fest in the kitchen usually with flour all over the place.
Ashe’s kid: pours 90% of milk on the floor and 10% into the bowl. Ashe: Great job buddy! :D
You know he would teach his kids to have the same morals as him. In that everyone deserves to be shown kindness and to have a second chance. He doesn’t shy away his past from them, and wants to make sure they understand how his late adopted father’s kindness changed his life for the better.
He really cant resist when his kids come home holding bunches of kittens or puppies, and even on one occasion a snake, and you’ll have to step in to be the voice of reason like “no you cannot keep 12 cats in our pantry, put them back.” Lolol
Ashe would give you the puppy dog eyes too when your kids start to pout, and it definitely didn’t work and you definitely didn’t keep one of the kittens
In conclusion, cinnamon roll dad 10/10
Tumblr media
Claude: Claude’s not a regular dad, he’s a cool dad XD
He wants his kids to be comfortable on wyverns so he takes them flying often. You worry of course, but he always assures you he is right there with them, and they are perfectly safe. Plus seeing the kids excitement as they try to explain to you how cool flying is, eases your worry plenty.
Claude’s kids would end up being little rascals, running around the halls of the palace, playing pranks on royal staff. Usual rambunctious kid stuff.
Claude has almost certainly assisted in their little tirades, especially on the ones directed at Lorenz. He once got them to replace all of the sugar in Lorenz’s tea with salt. Claude got quite the earful after from him, but Lorenz couldn’t prove anything.
That’s not to say that Claude can’t be a responsible parent when he needs to be. If his kids were getting involved in something that would put them or others in danger, you bet the stern dad voice is coming out and he’s teaching them why they can’t be doing that.
Very nice dad overall, his family wishes he could spend more time with them, but I digress 7/10
Tumblr media
Diamant: This one is a difficult one for me, as I try to portray them as the best dads they can be, however I see Diamant’s best as…rocky.
I feel like he would be overprotective, he’s very worried about anything bad happening to them. As a result of this he can be a bit overbearing.
On the other side of the spectrum, when’s he’s not being overbearing he can be distant. His anxiety over running the kingdom, and his own insecurity about being a father can cause him to push people away, and as a result you would be doing a lot of the parenting.
Of course all of these tendencies come from a place of love. He wants to be the best father he can, he’s just not great at navigating his emotions.
Every night, however, when your kids are tucked into bed you can hear him whispering stories about how great of a king his father was, and your kids fall asleep hearing tales of how amazing their grandfather was.
You also see them showing interest in his training. They love watching him train, and often times want to join him. which is great because he wants to teach all of his kids self defense. He wants them to be able to protect themselves when he’s not there after all.
In the end, his kids adore him even if he’s not the greatest parent at times, and you know that this is just another chapter of life you will be able to work through together. 5/10

Okay so I rediscovered the only-one-bed trope and honestly am screaming over it rn but also don’t know what characters to ask for this so do you think you could please do your top three Fire Emblem Three Houses characters in that sort of situation? Thank you!!
Only One Bed Trope
Fandom: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Characters: Ashe, Bernadetta, Dimitri, Ferdinand von Aegir
Type of Request: Headcanons
Notes: Oh the only-one-bed trope, I love it. As for my top three Fire Emblem characters... I think I'm going to do four characters, one being Ferdinand for reasons (Rest In Peace Billy Kametz)
Tumblr media
Ashe
At first he's confused when he sees that the room you're supposed to be staying in has one bed. He had thought he had asked for two?
Ashe offers to go back and ask for a new room, but you mention that it could be a hassle and Ashe reluctantly agrees. He doesn't want to potentially take a room from someone else that needs it and also doesn't want to overwork the inn staff...
Offers to sleep on the floor so you can take the bed. He's flustered at the idea of sharing a bed, but also he has slept on stone before when he was just a thief in the streets. He can sleep on an inn floor.
You state that you can just share the bed and he's still a bit flustered. Triple checks that it's alright with you because he doesn't want you feeling obligated. There's some happiness in his chest that you trust him enough to share the bed, but he promises that he'll try to stay on his side of the bed during the night!!
You two end up cuddling and when you wake up, you're both flustered but neither want to let go since it's so warm. Ashe ends up just giving a sheepish smile and apologizing and stating that you should get ready to join the others. Through out the day, there are many times you glance at the other, wondering if this was the spark of something new. Neither of you could deny the fluttering in your hearts.
Bernadetta
She's panicking when there's only one bed. Bernie thinks someone tricked her and did this to make her flustered and embarrassed. When she realizes she's speaking her thoughts out loud she gets more flustered and embarrassed because you heard what she said.
Bernie quickly tells you to ignore her and to look away. She's shy and doesn't want you judging her. Of course, she hasn't said any actual feelings towards you, just that sharing the bed is embarrassing. But still, please don't hate her!
States that she can sleep on the floor. Her dad has made her do it before as a punishment for not being able to hold books on the top of her head long enough. She can sleep on the floor again.
Of course you don't let her do that. You suggest sharing the bed and Bernie gasps, immediately asking if you plan on killing her. You aren't and you would never and Bernie trusts you. She does, she just can't help but have her mind wander in that direction. Would apologize and hope you aren't mad at her.
Her panicking causes her to stay awake most of the night. She can't help it. You're sleeping in a bed next to her and even if you're facing opposite directions, you're still so close! And she doesn't have a stuffed animal with her to cuddle with! Eventually she does end up falling asleep and cuddles with you, she'll panic in the morning. But for now she's having very pleasant dreams.
Dimitri
He is silent when he sees that there's one bed. His brain is moving too fast, trying to process it and wonder what caused the mistake. A nervous laugh leaves his lips and he offers to go see about getting another room.
Except there are no other available rooms and you're both stuck in this one bed room. Dimitri's throat is dry and he knows his face is a beet red. But he takes a deep breath, tries clearing his throat, and suggests that you sleep in the bed and he'll sleep on the floor or take a chair to sleep in.
You disagree with his suggestion. The future King can't sleep on a dirty floor (it's not actually dirty, the inn would never) or a chair and hurt his back. You offer to take the floor instead and Dimitri frowns.
It becomes a standstill between you two. Neither wanting the other to have back and neck pains in the morning but also nervous about sharing the bed. Dimitri is the one to take a deep breath and state that you can move some extra pillows or maybe get another blanket to put in the middle of the bed so you both stay on your own sides.
Sleep happens eventually but Dimitri's nightmares wake the both of you. He apologizes and tells you to go to sleep while he reads a book or something to keep from returning to said nightmare. Instead you, hesitantly, remove the barrier between you two and cuddle up, telling him that now that you're touching then you can protect him in his sleep. Thank goodness for the dark otherwise you'd definitely see his flustered state. He can't deny the good night's sleep after that.
Ferdinand
Lets out a loud, nervous laugh when he sees only the one bed. He has read his fair share of romance novels that he can't help thinking of what comes next in the cliché. Instead he clears his throat and states that you may have the bed while he takes the floor. A true noble would never let someone else suffer, after all!
You agree to taking the bed, but are also hesitant because where would he sleep? Ferdinand states he can get another inn room, it shouldn't be any trouble to do so. Except it is because none are available.
He's hesitant to go back to your room because of the bed situation and also doesn't quite know what to do. He tries to find Edelgard to explain the situation and see if the future Empress has a suggestion, to which she calls him an idiot and tells him to just go to your room and come up with a solution.
While a bit offended, he does what she says and goes back. You're a tad confused but understanding and so you offer to share the bed. Ferdinand gasps because you two aren't even married, you can't share a bed! But if he does have neck pains then it'll make training the next day all the more difficult so he sucks it up and promises he'll stay on his side.
A promise that ends up broken as he can't control his body in his sleep. You end up waking up due to him quickly jumping away from where you had been cuddled up together. He is apologizing and you are half awake, not knowing what happened before he sputters about going to get some tea for the two of you and quickly running away. You two can talk later but for now, he needs to hide his flustered face from you.

arranged marriage with ashe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: ashe ubert x gn!reader
tags: mentions of having children/adopting, reader isn't very happy about the arranged marriage at first
Tumblr media
while ashe was born merely as a commoner, he became the heir to lonato, after his and christophe's death
he hadn't expected to become a noble like this, nor was he prepared for the responsibilities coming with it
suddenly he was expected to marry someone, simply because he was a lord now and that's how things are
there weren't as many people interested in marrying him, due to ashe not having a crest, but he still had a few proposals
one of them was from your family. you didn't bear a crest, which was a bad thing for most people, but ashe was quite glad to hear about that
it would mean he wasn't forced to have tons of children with you, just to continue the bloodline
instead, it would be up to the two of you to decide if you wanted to have children or not – though ashe would've prefered to adopt, instead of having children of his own
he quickly sent back a letter to your family, asking to get to know you
and just a few weeks later, ashe got to visit you and your family at your mansion
it was quite large compared to his own, making him wonder why such a rich family would even want to marry their child to someone lesser than themselves
when ashe met you, he was quickly blown away by how good looking you were. the letters really weren't lying
though he didn't plan on marrying you for your looks! he wanted to get to know you and hopefully marry you for your kindness
the first day together, you and ashe spent in the garden of your family
ashe quietly listened as you told him about all the different flowers growing there, amazed by how much you knew
after a while, the conversation shifted away from the flowers, as ashe was eager to learn more about you and your family
you tried to put on a smile as you praised your family, but ashe could see right through it and when he confronted you about it, you revealed the truth to him
you were upset with your family for always dictating your life, even choosing the man you'd marry for you!
you didn't want to be bound to someone else, you didn't want children or getting married – at least not yet
you wanted to see the world first, discover new things and live your life, before you decide to settle down
ashe could understand you very well
and after everything you just told him, he proposed something: he'd ask for your hand in marriage! once you moved to his mansion, you'd get to be free and decide for yourself
he wouldn't force you to marry him, nor would he force you to have children or do anything you didn't want to
and if you decided you wanted to marry him, after you got to live a free life and do as you please, he'd be waiting for you…
you agreed to that deal and the same night, ashe asked your parents for your hand in marriage!
ashe wasn't sure if you'd still want to marry him after you got a taste of a free life, but he was content with the way things were
you deserved to be free and he was certain that you'd make the right decision!

injury.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: what do they do when you get injured during a battle? (ft. Hilda, Annette, Ashe).
notes: 398 words, drabbles, angst, reader injury, mentions of blood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hilda Valentine Goneril
You fall, and all Hilda can see is red.
Red, where it shouldn’t be. Blood everywhere, on your armor, your skin, the grass. Marianne running towards you, and Claude gripping Hilda’s arm, urging her to look away, to keep calm, because it wouldn’t help you if she lost it right here--
Hilda shakes him off, her grip on her axe tightening.
This is real, she reminds herself. This is war. People get hurt, and people die.
This is nothing like the strategy lessons back in Garreg Mach where she watched Claude maneuver pieces on a board against Lorenz. This is no training drill, where you would pop back up, complaining about your sore arms.
No, this is real, and Hilda would simply have to slaughter every person on the field who dared to raise a finger against you.
Annette Dominic
Annette’s hands shake as she presses a rag to your side.
“You’re going to be okay,” she whispers, trying to smile. “You’re going to be okay.”
It’s a promise, a prayer: as long as she keeps saying it, it’ll be true. It has to be. Because you have a future together, so many things you haven’t done yet. She has a ring she has yet to slip on your finger. There’s a festival in Faerghus she’s been wanting to take you to, once the war is over.
Sweat beads your forehead as Annette tries to stem the flow of blood from your wound. The din of fighting rings around her, but it might as well be a million miles away.
The real war is here, as she begs you not to leave her.
Ashe Ubert
You’re by Ashe’s side when the spell hits you, and you crash into the ground like a broken bird.
The world goes on, regardless.
Dimitri shouts orders. Someone grips his shoulder, tells him Mercedes is on the other side of the field.
Ashe holds you in his arms. Is he strong enough to pick you up and carry you? Would he even make it? If only he had Sylvain’s cleverness, or Dimitri’s strength. If only he had noticed the enemy readying a spell in your direction and pushed you out of the way. If only...
No. There would be time for tears later. Right now, you need him.
He has already lost so much, and he will not lose you, too.

I just realized the rules say we can ask for up to two at a time. 🥲
…would you mind writing for a cursed female reader and Ashe? Except maybe she’s in a bit more danger and there’s a high risk/stress level?
Thanks so much 💛
No problem at all! My rules say you can have up to 2 characters, but that's more of a limit than a requirement. Thank you for reading them!
But yes, I did attempt to raise the stakes in this one. There is more visible tension, and I have written my interpretation of some behavioral changes that might occur when significant stressors such as this are introduced.
Here is my take!
Requests are open. The story will be continued under the cut.
The light of the sun streaming in through the windows brought the pleasant warmth that came with the changing of spring to summer. You were walking down the hall, looking out at the blue sky through the glass when someone bumped into you.
“Oof-” you didn’t fall to the ground, but the box that the other person must have been holding fell next to you.
Kneeling down, you picked up the box, “Excuse me, but you dropped…this…?”
Only, when you looked around, you couldn’t tell who it was that had run into you in the first place. There wasn’t even a trace of a clue, and so you were left to stand in the hall holding a box that didn’t belong to you.
“Woah, hey! A-are you alright?”
You turned from your spot on the ground to see Ashe jogging up to you.
“Did you happen to see someone running by you?” you asked.
His eyes went wide, “Wait, did someone push you down?” his brows lowered, “Just tell me what they looked like. I’ll catch up to them.”
“No, no, that’s not it!” you defused, “It’s just…there was a woman, I think, from the bit of the robe that I saw. She bumped into me and dropped this box, but when I looked up to hand it to her, she was gone.”
“Hmm,” Ashe looked down the hall, as though he might see someone matching your limited description. Suddenly, he seemed to realize you had been knocked to the floor. “Oh! Sorry, here, let me help you up.”
He took the box from you in one hand, then outstretched his other one. You accepted the help, allowing him to lift you off the ground. As he handed the box back to you, you accidentally got your first real look at what was inside. There was no lid, but a thin sheet of material covered whatever was inside.
“What is it?” Ashe wondered aloud, peering into the container.
You were curious, too. Gently, you allowed your fingers to ease the material off the object. A mirror, laid to rest at the bottom, was the only thing underneath it.
It was more ornate than you expected for something the size of a book. There were golden swirls around its edges and a ruby-red frame.
Finding yourself entranced by the pattern, you reached in with your free hand, curling your fingers around its frame.
You retracted them quicker than you had curled them.
“Agh!” you breathed, a sharp pain spreading across your hand.
Ashe retrieved the box from you, watching your hand intently, “You’re bleeding…come on, let’s get you to Professor Manuela.”
The trip didn’t take long; she bandaged your hand and let you go with a warning to be more careful.
“Maybe you should take this to your room. The person who bumped into you would probably recognize you, and you could get it for her if you ever meet again.”
“That’s a wonderful idea, Ashe.”
So it was that you parted ways with you making a one-way trip to your room. Originally, you had been prepared to set the box away somewhere under your bed before heading down to the dining hall, but…
…one more look wouldn’t hurt, right?
You woke up the next morning in front of the mirror, though you didn’t remember ever taking it out of the box and setting it on the small coffee table at the center of your room. In truth, you didn’t actually remember falling asleep last night, either.
Legs sore, you rose from your “seat” on the floor before the table. You were unsteady for a moment, stumbling into your bed on shaky legs. After a good stretch though, it was time for you to make your way to the dining hall for breakfast.
Navigating there and getting a meal wasn’t so difficult, but it was when you ran into Felix and Ingrid on your way to the training grounds that something seemed off.
“Hey,” Ingrid greeted, uncharacteristically hesitant.
“Um, hi…Is there any particular reason you two are looking at me funny?” you checked yourself over once, “There’s nothing on my clothes, is there?”
“Well…you did something different with your hair, is all.”
My hair?
You grabbed a bit of it, pulling it forward so you could see.
“No, I don’t think so. Why?”
“You dyed it,” Felix raised a brow, clearly impatient, “There are streaks of white that weren’t there, before.”
“Ha-ha,” you quipped, “Come on, you know my hair has always been like this.”
Your classmates looked at each other, then back to you, “No, that definitely wasn’t there yesterday.”
“Or any other day,” Felix added.
“Not falling for it,” you called, walking past them into the training grounds.
They didn’t come after you. It was nice that they had stopped acting strangely, but you found it weird that they never quit their joke or apologized. Weirder still was how Felix was in on it, too.
You shut your mind off, moving to start your training for the late morning. To warm up, you would fire off a few spells at the training dummies. Then you could find a partner and really get down to business.
~~~~
Nothing went right.
The training dummies were barely scathed, and when you worked with a partner after lunch, you performed worse than ever. Now, dinner had passed. You had ended late with some private training, but you just felt confused, weak, and desperate.
Heading out for the last time that day, you came across Ashe again. He had wanted to know if you were able to return the mirror, but you let him know you hadn’t found any luck in that regard. After wishing him good night, you finally got back to your quarters.
Only, you didn’t go to bed again. You woke up in front of that mirror. And it happened night after night for the next two days.
~~~~
“...good morning,” Professor Byleth strained, concerned.
You were the last to enter the classroom, but you certainly made the most notable entrance.
Sylvain’s eyes widened, Ashe’s jaw hung open slightly, and Mercedes gave a small gasp.
“Your hair! It’s all white- why would you-?” Annette cried.
“That’s not the only change,” Felix scoffed. “She’s absolutely useless in the training grounds. Couldn’t even use her magic, and she was pale as a ghost the whole time.”
“She’s pale as a ghost right now…” Ingrid worried.
You sighed, “Why has everyone been giving me such a difficult time? I don’t understand what’s so hard about this; my hair has always been white, I’ve never been able to use magic,” and with a pointed glare toward Felix you finished, “and we’re from Faerghus; we don’t tan easily.”
Dimitri frowned, “Does anyone have any sort of portrait or letter that can contradict her hair color?”
“No, because it has always been this way.”
“Then why do you keep so many tomes in your room?” Ingrid contested.
“Maybe because the professor buys them and gives them to me? At this point, I’m pretty sure she’s just using my bookshelf as a storehouse, but I don’t mind.”
“That is enough, everyone. Ashe, please see me after class.”
“W-What?” Ashe whipped his head to face forward.
“He didn’t even say anything,” Ingrid rose out of her seat, “You can’t punish him while I’ve been-”
“I said enough, Ingrid. Ashe will be seeing me after class, and class will be starting right now. That is final.”
The room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Throwing a pitiful look Ashe’s way, Ingrid sunk back into her chair.
“Sylvain, perhaps you’d like to start us off with your report on the Sreng region so far this month…”
~~~
“...you asked to see me?”
Professor Byleth sighed, “I’m sorry I had to call on you in front of everyone. I promise, I’m just as worried about your classmate as everyone else.”
“You’re not in trouble,” she added upon noticing Ashe still looked like he might protest to something.
“Maybe I’m not, but she is! She’s been acting so strangely these past few days, and that’s not even considering her change in hair color.”
“I’m well aware. The hair was intriguing enough, but her strength has been greatly depleted ever since I trained with her a few days ago.”
And after their training session early this morning, she wasn’t sure what else there was to take than the strength that kept her standing and breathing.
“This isn’t the joke she’s making it out to be. Your classmate is in danger, but fortunately, I think I have a lead. These past few nights, I’ve noticed her turning in early and locking her door. She won’t respond when I knock or call her name, though.”
“That’s strange. If anything, she looks like she’s been getting less sleep than usual,” Ashe pondered.
“My thoughts exactly. We don’t have much time until tonight, but I want you to be watching her. As soon as you see her go into her room, grab the nearest classmate and pick the lock.”
“P-Pick the lock? But-”
“This is for her own good. There’s something I need to pick up, and then I promise I’ll be right behind you.”
The archer still looked confused despite his nod as he turned to go.
“Oh, and Ashe?”
He turned until they were making eye contact.
“Don’t let anyone catch onto what you’re doing.”
~~~~~
So, he waited, watching silently throughout the day as you went through your tasks. You really did do quite a lot for the Blue Lions, but…something was off.
Your steps and actions were clumsy and inexperienced despite it being the umpteenth time you tended to the stable mares. If anyone would know, it would be Ashe; the one who would spend all evening on the task so long as you were with him.
A change. Your steps sure and balanced for once as you put away your supplies and headed off to bed.
The commoner boy followed you to ensure you really did make it to your room. The sun hadn’t even fully set yet, but there was no doubt you’d find a way to wake up tired the next day, regardless.
Well, not this tim-
“Wow. Never took you for the kind to stalk a girl, Ashe. Guess you-”
“Shh!”
Perfect. Naturally, Sylvain had caught him in the hallway following you to your room just as you had shut your door. Just great.
“Woah, now you’re shushing me? I mean, of course you’d want-”
The archer deftly pulled the sword from the scabbard at the Gautier noble’s side, maneuvering to hold it at Sylvain’s throat.
“Sylvain, this is serious,” Ashe shouted in a whisper, “So help me, if you make any more noise…I may be shorter than you, but we both know I’m faster.”
Shocked, Sylvain didn’t have a reaction other than widening his eyes.
“Take it easy, Ashe,” he muttered. “Besides, you don’t even know how to us- gh-!”
The former thief pressed the blade forward, “I know enough to know that if I apply enough pressure right here with the blade, you’ll never make another noise. You will not speak. Do I make myself clear?”
After a moment of staring each other down in the hall outside her dorm room, Ashe sighed and turned toward the door. A few more moments and the sun would fully set.
Kneeling at the handle, the archer pulled the sharp metal of a lockpick out of his pocket.
Suddenly, he was yanked backward by his hood and into the wall. On instinct, Ashe jumped to his feet, but not before Sylvain had retrieved his sword from the floor and pointed it at Ashe.
“Sorry, but I can’t let you do that. Some lines you just don’t cross.”
“Sylvain, what in Fodlan are you talking ab-”
The soft click of the Professor’s heeled boots rushed down the hall toward the Lions, her own voice coming out in a whisper-shout.
“What are you two doing? Enough messing around; Sylvain, let Ashe pick the lock already.”
“What? Professor-”
“Shh!”
Instantly, Ashe was back at the handle, Less than a few seconds later, the lock was rendered obsolete.
“All you, Professor,” he nodded.
Nodding in turn, Professor Byleth pulled the bow she had obtained from off her shoulder, nocking an arrow in place and crouching low.
“How did you-? What is actually going on here?” Sylvain panicked.
“Sylvain. I don’t have time to explain much more, but we’re going to need your help fighting if push comes to shove. Your classmate’s life hangs in the balance.”
“And that’s why you-?”
“That is why the Church agreed to let me use this bow. Parthia will strike true, even if we cannot identify the enemy, ourselves.”
“Right. Okay, I’m with you.”
“Ashe, open the door.”
Noiselessly, the commoner flung the door open only to find his classmate kneeling on the floor at a small table.
Still primed to shoot, Byleth shuffled about the room until the small mirror propped in front of her pupil came into view.
Their friend was transfixed by the object, a thin, steady stream of white light connecting her eyes to the mirror.
The moment the Ashen Demon came into its view, the white tendril snapped. It lashed out, now more physical than intangible.
There wasn’t enough time to react to what was happening. The magic of the mirror was too quick. With a single, deceptively heavy swipe, it collided with Byleth’s head. She was knocked aside, Parthia left to fall where she once stood as her form went limp against the wall.
“What th-!”
“Professor!”
Sylvain rushed across the room, adapting quickly to slide under the tendril’s attack. Upon reaching Byleth, he swung back against the magic.
Each swipe simply cleaved the tendril, stalling it for a moment before it reconnected with its base and came in for another attack.
Taking advantage of the distraction his classmate provided, Ashe crawled toward where Parthia lied.
All it took was a glance around to know the only arrow Ashe had was the one his Professor had dropped.
He dared not whisper a word as he nocked the bow from his place on the ground. With only a rough estimation of the mirror’s position due to his limited view, it really would be up to Parthia.
Ashe rose to his knees and yelled only one word to Sylvain in the split second he had to aim.
“Duck!”
The projectile flew to the center of the room, slightly adjusting its trajectory to hit its wielder’s mark. Sylvain dropped to the floor just in time, doing his best to shield Professor Byleth’s body as Parthia’s arrow struck true.
The mirror shattered, a burst of light energy knocking all of the present company to the walls of the room.
And when the light vanished, no one in the room was left awake to get back up again.
~~~
In the days that followed, the infirmary stayed busy. Manuela tended to Sylvain and Ashe in the infirmary as Rhea chose to care for you and the professor on her own terms. An abundance of clerics that were at the Church’s disposal lent their talents for the occasion as classmates came and went with gifts, well-wishes, and plenty of questions.
Professor Byleth was the first to return to her class, recovering from her head trauma abnormally unaffected. Sylvain’s recovery took place shortly after, as he had been protected mostly by his position low on the ground.
More days passed, the infirmary closed itself off to visitors, and the room in which the incident occurred was tidied up. The Blue Lions remained with only seven students in attendance for another week.
The day Ashe returned to the class, he was almost overwhelmed at the amount of gifts sitting at his table. Books from Ingrid, sweets from Mercedes, flowers from Dedue, and a multitude of letters from people around the monastery.
And when the Blue Lions returned from their monthly mission to find you had been returned to the classroom, your hair returned to its natural shade?
Well, the only person that needed to be pulled into the hug was Felix.
{Of Pens and Paper}- Blue Lions Edition
Prologue: Here Next: Golden Deer -coming soon-
Dimitri
My Beloved,
I know my struggle with words has caused many misunderstandings between us. If not on your side, then on mine. For once I would like the chance to collect my thoughts and share them with you. I have watched the sun rise and set many times, each alone. Yet for a short period the pain of solitude did not grasp my heart entirely. I speak of our days as students, where I had something to look forward to each coming day: you.
For a time, that brief respite was ripped away. Your face had joined the many I would watch the sun rise with, and that would deny me rest when it set. I have always been a husk of a man, yet your face is one I would rather die than see corrupted. To see meet again, yet as the monster I have become--the goddess has a cruel sense of humor. I could not bring myself to appreciate her gift in the beginning. Not as the broken man I was, and still am in a way.
Which is why I write to tell you this. I appreciate you, your presence in my life, the friend you are to our allies, and the strength you give to my homeland. You always have seen the good in people, in the world…even in someone like me.
You are as beautiful as the day I lost you, and not one moment passes where I do not thank the gods for returning you to my side. Above all, I am thankful that you allow me to love you.
Forever yours,
Dimitri
A letter expressing your importance in their life
Dedue
(Y/N),
Rest well. You have earned this celebration just as we all have. Should you awaken before I return, there are extra blankets stored in the chest near the fire place. I considered returning you to your room, but Manuela instructed for you to remain under supervision until your condition stabilizes. I hope awaking in my room was not too big a surprise. If so then I apologize.
I will return in the evening with dinner. Hopefully you will be awake at the time. Feel free to relax anywhere you would like or light the fireplace for warmth. As stated, you did well in our last battle. Professor Byleth said there would be a toast in your honor tonight, and I am proud. Proud to watch you grow, and to call myself your partner.
Tonight's dinner is porridge with fruit. I will prepare it myself, so please be ready to eat.
Regards,
Dedue
A letter of congratulations
Felix
(Y/N),
I would say this in person, but you likely don't want to see me right now. I also would normally wait for you to stop being so childish, though this treatment is mostly my fault. I'm not that bone-headed to overlook our past. All I can say is that I'm sorry. I wish I never acted the way I did towards you. I was in the wrong to be rude when we first met, and my stupid pride caused this annoying 'rivalry,' if you could even call it that.
It seems everything I do regarding you is always one-sided, fighting included.
This isn't coming out the way that I wanted, but I'm on my last piece of paper and nearly out of ink. I can't speak nonsense like Sylvain, or woo you with lies. I would sooner die, honestly. I didn't choose to fall in love with you, it just happened somehow. I want to know if you love me too.
If you don't come find me by tonight then I'm coming to you. I won't leave without an answer this time.
-Felix
A letter containing an important confession
Sylvain
My Love,
Surprised? Didn't think I was one for penmanship, did you? I figure most of my attempts to flirt don't work out well, so why not try something new? Feel free to show this off to everyone. Matter of fact, I expect you to, otherwise I will take great offense. After all, we're partners now. It's not fair if you don't brag about me like I do you.
Man, it feels surreal writing this. Last week I was blubbering to Ingrid about you over a pint, and yesterday you beat me to the punch and confessed. I was so tired of fighting it-my feelings, I mean. I knew the way I thought about you was special. For a long time, actually. I wanted us to stay friends, after all, you deserve someone way better than me. So hearing those words…yeah. I was right, this is hard. All I can say is that it felt like someone said I would get to eat my favorite foods every day. Not in a glutton way, but like being told you'll have some type of promised happiness for life.
Hopefully you can make sense of what I just said. If not? Well, I'll let my actions do the talking next time.
Sincerely,
Sylvain. Aka. Your fiancé  (I saw that eyeroll)
A letter retelling of your first 'I love you'
Ashe
My flower,
I hope this letter finds you well. If not, then I hope you are at least taking care of yourself. Remember to drink plenty of water and rest! I may not be there to nag you myself, but may my words at least guilt you somewhat.
Yes, I am playing 'dirty,' as you like to call it. I miss you dearly, and want you home in one piece.
Home, for me, is with you. It has been ever since we first met. At the time I didn't know it, but I firmly believe the goddess decides our fated long before we are born. The first time you held my hand, something told me deep down that I would follow you wherever you go. I was excited and scared, because at the time becoming a knight was my dream. I knight lived for their king.
I still remember how your hand felt that day. I remember your gentle grasp and how sweaty I was in comparison. It took time, but I learned that being a knight means protecting the people you care about. You serve the king, but you serve to protect your loved ones. The day you held my hand, I knew you would be important.
But the day I realized this, is the day I realized I love you. So please, bring back my home safely.
With love,
Ashe
A letter reminiscing of when they fell in love
Annette
Dearest (Y/N),
Thank you for yesterday! I don't know if I could have taught that class without your help. I know that we're expected to teach our specialties to the new soldiers, but that was way too nerve wracking. The last time I set foot in that classroom was as a student, so who's bright idea was it to have me teach reason lessons?!
I could understand if we had no one else, but Professor Manuela (should we start calling her only as Manuela? It feels rude…) is available! At least give me some time to prepare, you know? I definitely was not prepared to give demonstrations…
You, on the other hand, we're amazing! I would think you had been teaching for years if not for our current situation. I really admire your ability to adapt to change. If it's no bother, I hope you can teach me too? Not in reason but in being more confident!
I know you saw it. My father…he was watching. I don't think he knows that I know who he is. Maybe with your help, I might be able to confront him about it. Being with you makes me want to better myself, and right now? You're my family and my determination to see this war through.
Love,
Annette
A letter thanking you for your help
Mercedes
Darling,
Happy Birthday! I hope you don't mine me slipping in a surprise on this special day. It's very rare that we have a moment of respite, but it would feel wrong letting this day go by without celebrating. I do not know if our paths will cross during our duties, but please pen in some time for me later this evening, yes?
I am so happy that you are here with us - with me. Today we celebrate the gift that is yourself. I have prepared a special meal for us to share later. I won't divulge the surprise, but know that it is something you enjoy greatly! I can hear your thought now, 'but I enjoy everything Mercie makes for me,' hehe. Today you deserve a special treat, my darling.
I am greatly looking forward to our time together. For now, please enjoy the fruits I have left with this letter. Know that I am thinking of you on this day, and that our friends love you. Perhaps not as much as I do, but I believe that is acceptable.
Wishing you the happiest of days,
Mercedes
A letter for your birthday
Ingrid
(Y/N),
I could not help but notice the oversized basket on my doorstep this morning. At first I thought Sylvain was playing a prank, or that Mercedes had baked too much bread. Yet color me surprised when your name was written on the tag.
What did you do? More specifically, what did you break? No gift comes without consequence when it comes to you. Fresh pastries don't come out of thin air and I doubt you have room in your schedule to be baking. If you do then perhaps Seteth has lost his touch in wrangling slackers.
I'm kidding. I just wanted to thank you for the gift. I was surprised to say the least. We're not necessarily in the position to get good-tasting food these days, and it was nice to eat something other than seared mutton. I tried to keep my feelings to myself, but nothing gets by you, huh?
I would thank you in person if I could, but it looks like I'm training the Pegasus Knight recruits today. I also have patrol, which means I likely won't be free until you're long asleep.
Warm Regards,
Ingrid G.
Friendship is Evergreen
Summary:
“Y/N, are you there?” Ashe calls out, a hint of concern in his voice, “I have that book you wanted to read! Is now an inconvenient time?”
Clutching the shoulder strap of his bag, he looks from left to right to see if he recognizes anyone nearby—but the courtyard outside this area of the dorms is silent, save for the occasional rustle in the bushes from the monastery’s resident cats and dogs. There is no one here but him, and, he hopes, his friend who is waiting on the other side of the door.
Notes:
Happy holidays @fiction-box! I was your Secret Santa for @nagamas this year! You can find your gift fic below, under the readmore -- I had a lot of fun with it, and thank you for the lovely prompts!
FE3H Academy Phase, Physical Hurt, Comfort, Kidnapping, Books, Knights and Chivalry, Ashe/Female!Reader, Y/N stands for “Your Name”, Written in Third Person
Word count: 2,281 now on ao3
During the first few weeks of the semester, Ashe hadn’t thought much of his classmate who always seemed to have her nose buried in a book, marking her page with a simple black bookmark and tucking the book away for safekeeping like clockwork moments before their professor’s lecture began. She was quiet, and unlike some of the others in his class, she did not call much attention to herself.
That was until she grabbed a book out from under his nose a few months later in the library.
“Excuse me!” Ashe exclaims, unusual for him. For weeks he had been waiting patiently for the most recent installment of Evergreens and Chivalry to be available at Garreg Mach’s library, eager to finally read what had become of the heroic knight after he had learned the truth of his allegiances at the conclusion of the previous novel. He was out of pocket money to spare for the moment, and so rather than buying the newest book from one of the vendors at the marketplace, he had been relying on the library to secure a copy that he could finally borrow and read in his own time.
Needless to say, Ashe’s tone of voice made it abruptly, and, even if it was beyond his intention, displeasingly known that he had grown a tad frustrated to see someone else had thought of the same idea as him.
“Hmm?” is all the reply he initially thinks he will receive, her hands wrapping around the spine of the book as she pulls it from the shelf. “Oh! We’re in the same class, aren’t we? Your name is Ashe, right?”
Her genuine curiosity catches him off guard, annoyance quickly dissolving as she holds out the book to him.
“I took this from you. In my eagerness, I didn’t see that you were also reaching for it.”
“You also like Evergreens and Chivalry?” Ashe asks, and his classmate affirms with a quick nod.
“I’ve been reading since the first book in the series was published. I was left waiting on my toes—”
“—to see what the hero would do after discovering the truth about his liege!” Ashe finishes her thought, and the pair bursts into laughter. A curt “Sshhh!” comes from somewhere across the library, reminding them, in their excitement, of where they are.
“Here, you read it first,” she speaks in a quieter voice, offering the book to him. Ashe pushes it back in her hands, insistent that she be the first to borrow it.
“Just make sure not to spoil any of the story for me until I have the chance to finish it, okay?”
It’s nice, to make a friend through a shared passion, enthusiastically discussing their favourite parts of the series while seated at the meal hall and as they walk back to their dorm rooms after classes have concluded for the day. As spring turns to summer, and summer all too quickly transitions to fall, news reaches their ears that a special edition novel will be published for Evergreens and Chivalry, accompanied with illustrations as the first book in the series receives a limited-run print.
Combining their spending money to afford the last copy the local merchant has to sell, Ashe wins the rock, paper, scissors bet they hold to determine who will get to read the novel first. He assures Y/N that he will read it as fast as possible, in between completing assignments for their professor and studying for exams, and that he’ll wait for her to enjoy the story too before jumping to discussions of what he thought about the new edition.
The first few nights of the Horsebow Moon come to a close by the time Ashe finishes reading the book, staying up far later into the evenings than he should so that Y/N can have her turn with it before exam season is upon them. Before departing for class, he marvels at his favourite illustrations one last time that morning he plans to hand it over, and tucks the book into his satchel as he heads out for the day.
Except, as he passes through the large oak doors of the classroom, Y/N isn’t there, her seat oddly empty when she had made such a habit of always arriving before him. Ashe does not think much of it as the professor takes their place at the front of the classroom and begins their lecture after taking attendance. He places all his attention on the lesson, losing himself in his notes as Byleth explains the intricacies of a strong battle formation when enemies were surrounding the party from all sides.
“Maybe she’s not feeling well,” Ashe thinks, glancing over to her vacant seat during a moment of downtime from Byleth’s instruction, “Maybe she’s busy running an errand and lost track of time…”
It doesn't dawn on him again that he still hasn't seen Y/N all day until supper time, when he reaches into his bag to retrieve a book while he’s sitting towards the back of the dining hall. Looking into his bag, his eyes land on the spine of the first edition of Evergreens and Chivalry, the swirling ornate details in blues, greens, and silvers reminding him of how excited he was to give her the book hours earlier. The colours call to mind one particular illustration, one that he had been so eager to see as he read the special edition as it was from one of Y/N’s favourite scenes that she always came back to during their discussions.
Ashe eats his stew with slightly less enthusiasm than usual. He hopes what’s been keeping his friend away all day is only a terrible cold, rather than some worse situation, as he makes his way to her quarters.
His knuckles rasp politely against the door of Y/N's dorm room, waiting patiently for a response so that he may enter. A cat sleeping in a nearby plant pot catches his eye, cozy and warm as it snoozes away in the setting sun. Ashe closes the distance and begins to scratch behind its ears, and still, by the time he has finished, he's heard no response from the other side of the door.
He knocks a little harder the second time, thinking that perhaps she didn’t hear the first. Again, there’s no response nor indication that she’s currently in her room.
“Y/N, are you there?” Ashe calls out, a hint of concern in his voice, “I have that book you wanted to read! Is now an inconvenient time?”
Clutching the shoulder strap of his bag, he looks from left to right to see if he recognizes anyone nearby—but the courtyard outside this area of the dorms is silent, save for the occasional rustle in the bushes from the monastery’s resident cats and dogs. There is no one here but him, and, he hopes, his friend who is waiting on the other side of the door.
“Please forgive me,” Ashe whispers under his breath, “Y/N, I’m coming in!”
He feels bad doing it, a pang of guilt rushing across his chest as his hand finds the knob and turns it to unlatch the door. The fact that it is unlocked does not register as a warning signal until he’s pushed it open to reveal the disaster that befalls his eyes.
There’s clear evidence of a struggle, between the countless books strewn over every surface of the room and the clear defense that was put up by the sight of the desk chair toppled over, legs broken and splintered. Stepping a few more feet inside, Ashe notices dried blood along the carpet, the faint traces of it leading up over the wooden shelving and continuing to the one broken window, smashed with enough force to litter the room with the dangerous glass shards. The evidence trail ends there, as Ashe finds no footsteps left outside the window, and no clues as to who may have trespassed into his friend’s room.
Ashe’s heart drops into his stomach as he recalls what Mercedes and Annette had been whispering about at the back of the classroom a few days ago, rumours of a treacherous figure donned in the attire of a reaper kidnapping students in the midst of the night. He had thought it was merely one of Mercedes' ghost stories she had attempted to scare Annette with, and any passersby who overheard the ghastly details.
Now, as Y/N’s absence, the state of the room, and the rumours all come together before Ashe’s very eyes, he can do nothing but accept the horrible truth that the most recent victim was his friend.
He bolts from the room, hoping to find a faculty member before they all disappear to their quarters for the evening, grasping his bag to his side as he pushes himself to run harder than he’s ever needed to during battle.
Tumblr media
Three distraught weeks later, filled with further kidnappings and a shocking discovery on behalf of Manuela, they do find Y/N, along with others, unconscious in the underground chamber. Thankfully, the rescue mission is a success following the retreat of the Death Knight, with no fatalities recorded. For the first time in a month, faculty members and students alike are able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Ashe still feels like he’s holding his when he makes his way to the infirmary a few days later, collecting himself in the hallway before turning the corner into the room. At the moment, it’s only Y/N and one other student currently on bed rest, the one he doesn’t recognize is sleeping on the far side of the room.
Y/N smiles when she notices he’s in the doorway, and to see her again—not bruised and fatigued, but with a look of cheer in her eyes—helps calm his nerves, at least a little.
“Hey,” he waves, quietly approaching Y/N’s bedside. “Is now a good time?”
She nods, and he takes up the chair at her bedside, bringing his satchel to sit in his lap as she rearranges herself on her hospital cot.
“I heard through the grapevine that you were the one to find me—I mean the fact that I was kidnapped,” she begins, looking at Ashe in earnest. She didn’t see the point in small talk; she was tired of answering the faculty members’ questions over the last three days. Now that her head was a bit less foggy, and after restless nights with very little sleep, she had had some time to think over exactly what she wanted to say, so long as her friend stopped by.
And he had.
“Thank you,” she tells Ashe, hoping her tone conveys her gratitude. “If it weren’t for you, my kidnapping might have been overlooked for much longer.”
“No apology is necessary. I was just doing what a good friend should: keeping an eye out for you because something about that day felt off to me, once I realized it.”
She raises an inquisitive eyebrow, prompting Ashe to continue. He pulls his bag open and retrieves the copy of Evergreens and Chivalry that they had brought together, still in pristine condition.
“I was planning to give it to you that morning in class, as I had finished it the night before. But you weren’t there—you weren’t anywhere that day, and by the time evening rolled around I figured I should stop by, just to see if you were sick or something. Please forgive me for entering your room without permission!”
She laughs, one of those full-hearty ones, “Ashe, that’s the least of my worries. Had you not, you never would have discovered my disappearance.”
“That’s true…” he mulls over it, breathing a sigh of relief. His eyes fall to the cover of the book, decorated in the same blues, greens, and silvers that embellish the spine. He wonders what maybe would have happened if he hadn't finished reading the book that night, but the brush of her hand against his pulls him away from sinking too deep into those thoughts. She’s admiring the cover, tracing her finger over the ornate details of the evergreen boughs.
“Would you like to read it now? The book’s all yours since I already finished reading it.”
“Can you read some of it to me?” she requests, pushing the book into his hands before turning herself onto her side as her head lies comfortably on the pillows. “I’m still finding it difficult to focus my attention for certain tasks.”
A smile spreads across Ashe’s face in delight, scooting his chair closer to the edge of her bed so that she doesn’t miss a word as he begins. He narrates the story in as best of a show as he can, stopping to show her the illustrations in between. They stay together like that well into the night, completely forgetting about going to bed at a reasonable time.
“You’ll never believe what’s on the next page,” Ashe breaks out of his narrator’s voice, turning the page to show his friend the illustration for her favourite scene. When she doesn’t react, he grows nervous, worried that perhaps she didn’t like what she saw. He breathes a sigh of relief as he looks over to her, finding her asleep in her bed, curled up to the very edge. Quietly, he blows out the candle at her bedside, leaving the book on the small nightstand after placing the ribbon bookmark in between the pages.
“We can finish it tomorrow,” he tells her, pulling the blankets up over her shoulders so that she wouldn’t catch a cold amongst the chilly autumn air, “Sweet dreams, my friend.”
Ah, wonderful!
May I request an Ashe x F!Reader where both are assigned to search an abandoned manor for supplies? Reader is terrified of ghosts too, please!
This is so cyuuute!
Ashe and his S/O investigating an abandoned creepy manor
Reader here is female
Whoever sent you to that mission must find it really fucking funny.
But you weren't going to get scared just by anything, you were going to overcome it!
The moment you went in you knew that you were not going to get separated even for a second.
Even one odd sound caused both of you to panic... But you had each other so it was easier to stay calm even if you were freaking out.
Whoever snapped to reality first was able to help the other one. So everything went a bit more smoothly.
If only he didn't overhear Mercie's stories the other day though things would've been much easier.
Still Ashe was doing great job investigating even though he was just distracted as you. So it was only fair for you to put in equal amount of effort.
In his eyes things looked the other way around. As long as it works I suppose?
The moment you were out though you let out a huge sigh of relief. You can only hope to never go through that again.
tiny bit of ashe smut sorry if its all over theplace im tired
Ashe (Fire Emblem) x AMAB Reader
18+ MDNI 100% out of character maybe but maybe someday ill right in-character smut if you're lucky
Ashe loves you, he is very open when it comes to just how much he loves you. Ashe often hugs you from behind and leans close to you his face buried into your neck as he whispers sweet nothings into your ear.
Ashe would praise you to the point where you would be stunned, the constant compliments flooding your ears as he would kiss you, his freckled face being completely red as he slowly goes down your body lightly kissing your body as he reached your cock
Ashe would feel drunk on pleasure as he awkwardly kissed your shaft telling you just how pretty it was, rubbing his hands on your thighs as he slowly spread them further apart his face going down and putting your balls into his mouth, smiling as he looked up at you, your cock slowly dripping precum down onto his pretty face as he sped up
Hi there! I wanted to request that you do headcanons on Ferdinand, Lorenz, Ashe and Ignatz with an S/O who tries to confess time and time again but gets so flustered and tongue-tied that they can’t even get the words out? Thank you!!
Flustered S/O Unable to Confess
Fandom: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Characters: Ashe, Ferdinand, Ignatz, Lorenz
Type of Request: Headcanons
Notes: This is such a cute request, I’m happy to write it!!
Tumblr media
Ashe
He is so patient with you. Every time you've called his name, he'd patiently wait and just smile as you tried to get the words out.
Ashe would suggest charades or maybe writing down what you want to say if you're having difficulties getting it out, not realizing that you were trying to confess.
It would take some observations for things to click for him and then he feels flustered but also so very happy. You haven't been able to say anything yet, but just knowing makes him pleased.
So he'll keep being patient and wait for you. He can't deny being a tad sad when you just change the subject because you can't confess again, but he's still going to do his best to be patient, a smile and blush on his face as he waits.
Ferdinand
Does his best to be patient with you. It'd be rude of him to cut you off or interrupt, especially if you're just having difficulties asking for help or something. He knows his noble status can be intimidating, after all.
Ferdinand does get concerned with how often you end up stumbling over your words and how flustered you are. Do you have a fever? Are you getting sick and need him to take care of you? That question just makes you more flustered honestly.
It's probably not until Edelgard says something about your obvious feelings that causes Ferdinand to feel like an idiot for not realizing sooner.
Would invite you to tea and suddenly he's realizing how difficult it is to confess his feelings back to you due to being tongue tied too.
Ignatz
Honestly he's the same exact way. You're being flustered and stumbling over confessing and he doesn't realize you're trying to confess but seeing you flustered causes him to feel flustered as his heart starts beating faster.
Has also tries confessing to you, only to end up the exact same way before changing the subject or giving up for the day.
Pretty much all of the other Golden Deer know what's going on because you two are so obvious it's painful. Claude finally tells Ignatz that he'll tell you about the artist's feelings if Iggy doesn't. Little do you know, Hilda makes the same threat to you.
You two eventually just blurt out your feelings to the other and word vomit before your brains process the other's words. It ends up with you both just being so happy and realizing how silly you both were.
Lorenz
The first time it happened, Lorenz ended up interrupting before you could maybe figure out what to say. He acted cocky with, "I know I'm very handsome and it's easy to get tongue tied." and then he went off on some nobility thing and you just gave up for the day.
The next few times he thought maybe someone put a curse on you with magic, making it so you can't talk about a certain subject. He was very worried as he tried to take you to Hanneman or Manuela but you wouldn't.
He ended up mentioning his frustrations and worries to Claude, who sighed at the idiot and wrote some letter and told Lorenz to give it to you.
Lorenz did, even though he was suspicious, and then he noticed you getting extra flustered but looked so relieved as you let out, "I've been trying to confess, but I'm glad you did it first!" and that caused Lorenz to finally feel tongue tied and flustered when he realized what to just said.
ashe with a shy s/o
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: ashe ubert x gn!reader
tags: fluff, established relationship
Tumblr media
ashe isn't the most confident person and especially now that he's in a relationship with you, he's even more shy than before
the two of you are constantly getting flustered around each other by the smallest things
holding hands or hugging feels like the most exciting and yet nerve wracking thing you two have ever done
being so close to each other is great and yet none of you two want to overstep the others boundaries
ashe always makes sure to ask you for permission to hold your hand or to hug you, even when the last time you held hands was just a couple minutes ago
ashe is mostly the one making the first move, despite being shy about it as well
but he knows that it would be even harder for you to suggest certain things, so he doesn't mind taking the first step
your relationship is rather slow paced compared to others around you
neither you nor ashe are ready for any huge steps like sleepovers at the others room or even making out
you two just do things your way and take all the time that you need…
Pet Names (Blue Lions Boys)
Note: I'm playing the game. I am certified boyliker. I am going to major in boy. Sue me.
Characters: Dimitri, Dedue, Sylvain, Felix, Ashe
---
Dimitri:
Bless this boy
So flustered when you call him pet names, so he came up with his own
My Love, Sweetheart, Darling
Very traditional pet names
Doesn't stray much from that
Dedue
My love <3
He was hesitant for obvious reasons, but he got comfortable and came up with them
Love, Mine, My sweet
So adorable
So flustered when he says them too
Sylvain
Dear Goddess.
Him. He comes up with. Names.
Sweetcheeks, cutie, babe, lil cutie
No matter if you're taller than him or not, older than him or not, he'll call you lil cutie
A tad annoying, but he's a little charming.
Felix
Um. Him as well
He's not the sweet or sentimental type, so chances are he wouldn't have any pet names
Most he'll do is not call you "You" when he's trying to address you
That's it.
Maybe "mine" if he's possessive and Sylvain was flirting with you (and didn't know you were with Felix), but that's the most you'll get
Ashe
Absolute opposite of Felix
He's very sweet and sentimental
Baby, sweetheart, love
Also traditional
Such a sweetheart and such an adorable cutie
Only One Bed (Ashe x Reader)
Welcome to my fire emblem writing corner! This is a new blog that does requests for both fire emblem reader and/or character shipping. I accept requests, and I also write whatever & whenever I’m independently inspired to! If there’s something you’d like to see, send something my way!
The writing will be continued under the cut.
“Ah! There it is!”
You had your horse run the rest of the way up the hill to catch up to Ashe. Once you were there, you found yourself looking out onto a quaint little town. The lamplights were on, and there wasn’t much activity despite it being a summer night. It was charming.
“This is where the professor wanted us to stop for the night?” you asked, flipping open the itinerary Professor Byleth gave you for the trip.
Ashe nodded, his eyes shining as they reflected the fires in the lamps that grew nearer with every clip-clop of your horses’ feet.
“It’s a good thing the professor knew to send you. I’m certain I’d have gotten all turned around were you not so familiar with this place.”
You and Ashe had been sent to deliver a letter to House Rowe from the Church. There weren’t enough Knights of Seiros to expend while still keeping the monastery defended, so the professor had opted to send you, instead. Though you were an exceptional fighter, you were still just a commoner with no noble ties. If anything happened to you, the kingdom wouldn’t have felt your loss as much as it would have were Felix or Ingrid to take your place.
To your previous surprise though, you didn’t have to go alone. At the last moment, Ashe ran up to the professor out of breath and asked to accompany you. After watching them have a conversation consisting of the phrases, “...unfamiliar with the territory..” and “...can’t send her alone…”, Professor Byleth announced that Ashe would be joining you, after all.
And that was all well and good. Excellent, even, up until this point.
You had both tied up your horses outside of the inn and entered. It being such a small town, there was quite a bit of vacancy.
It was quite similar to the vacancy you noticed in the coin purse the professor had given you.
Apparently, after the professor’s chat with Ashe, Byleth forgot to add the necessary funds to the bag. You only had enough to pay for a single person’s accommodations in the next town over.
The innkeeper greeted you both, “Hello! Thanks for stopping by! Can I interest a couple like yourselves in a room?”
“O-Oh! We’re n-”
“Sorry, give us a moment!” you smiled, lightly guiding Ashe away from the counter by his wrist.
Once you were out of the innkeeper’s earshot, you turned to a very confused Ashe.
“Is something the matter?”
You frowned, holding out the meager coin purse in your hand. “Ashe, this is all the professor gave us. Even if we use everything in here, I doubt we could both afford to sleep in the stables!”
He gently took the purse out of your hand, spilling its contents into his own. As he sorted through the coins, Ashe shifted his body to block the amount in his hands from the innkeeper’s view.
“This is…” his eyebrows furrowed, “We’re going to have to bargain with the innkeeper.”
You felt yourself tense, “And…if we can’t make it work, where will we sleep?”
He clutched his hand around the coins, slid them back into the purse, and pocketed it.
“It’ll work. Just play along with the conversation, alright?”
“Right. We can do this! I trust you.”
He ducked his head a bit, at that, and you could’ve sworn you saw the trace of a blush tinting his face.
Ashe nodded, collecting himself, then wrapped your arm around his own. Your eyes went wide, and your mouth opened as if in protest, but Ashe had already started to address the innkeeper.
“I’m so sorry about that! She was just reminding me how behind we are on our schedule.”
Your mouth closed and opened again, “Not that it’s your fault, of course! I’m the one that got us all mixed up with the maps, and now we're here.”
“By the Goddess! You must be so tired. Well, now that you’re here, why don’t you spend the night? We rarely get any visitors, so I’m certain you’ll get all the peace and quiet you need for a good night’s sleep.”
An interesting sales pitch, albeit a sloppy one, you note. But you still have no clue what Ashe’s angle is.
“Oh, that sounds wonderful! But, you see, we’re supposed to be meeting another couple the next town over. They’ve got the funds we need to rent out a full room. How much is a room with two beds here, by the way?”
The innkeeper pointed to a sign on the wall, “You’ll find our prices painted on this sign, sir.”
You let out a small gasp. There was no way you could scrounge up that much out here even if you had another day to find the funds!
Ashe squeezed your arm with his own. In reassurance, you hoped.
“Ah, we’re a bit short, I'm afraid,” he turned to leave, guiding you out by your joined arms, “It looks like we’ll have to catch up with our friends tonight, after all. Have a good ni-”
“Woah, hold on, there!” the innkeeper cried. “I know tired when I see it. The next town is a few miles away, yet. You wouldn’t wanna drag the lady any farther without giving her some beauty sleep, would you?”
You froze. Though you felt slightly insulted by the remark, you knew now wasn’t the time to pick a fight with the only person that could land you a bed for the night. Thus, you shifted your eyes to Ashe. your heart was beating a mile a minute as you silently searched for some clue as to what you should do next.
Ever so slightly, he shook his head.
Sliding your eyes back to the innkeeper, you did your best to give a sad smile.
“No, no! Really, our situation is all my fault, anyway. The least I can do is hold my head high another hour so we can get where we need to be!”
Once you waved goodbye, you pressed closer to Ashe. You hoped it would make you look like you were leaving, even though you weren’t actually going anywhere.
“Wait, wait, wait,” the innkeeper sighed. “Look, we’ve been down on our luck a bit, here. I might not be able to get you a room with two beds, but let’s talk about a single. A couple like you wouldn’t mind sharing, right? Name your price.”
Both of you tensed against each other. Luckily, Ashe was able to manage a smile bright enough for both of you.
“Th-Thank you so much!”
~0~0~
When you finally began to ascend the stairs, Ashe clutching the key, you were in disbelief. He had managed to land you both a room, and you still had a fifth of your funds to spare!
Eventually, you arrived at your door. Ashe unlocked it, let you in, entered, and then shut it behind him. There was a beat of silence.
Then, you both let our a large breath of air.
You began to laugh, turning to him and enveloping him in a hug.
“Ah! Wh-What’s so funny?”
You giggled some more, pulling back and smiling at him, “Absolutely nothing! I…I don’t even know how you did that, Ashe!”
A rosy hue began to dust his freckles, “Well, I couldn’t have done it without you. Honestly, when the innkeeper brought you into it, I thought we were done for!”
“Aw, you flatter me! I just followed your lead.”
You turned and took a few more steps into the room before you froze.
“So, uh…you should take the bed.”
His smile went away in an instant.
“What? N-No, you’re definitely not sleeping on the floor. You take the bed; I can lay out my hood as a mattress. It works just as well!”
“After everything that’s happened, today? Out of the question!” You turn your body to fully face him, again. “It wasn’t all acting back there, you know. I really did almost get us lost with the maps. Even then, without you, I wouldn’t have gotten into this room with a coin to spare! The least you can do is take the bed; you quite literally earned it.”
“But I’d never be able to live with myself if you spent the night on the floor. Here, if you want to pay me back for what I did back there, you can do it by sleeping on that mattress tonight. It will save me from a lot of guilt,” Ashe pleaded.
You were about to argue your point again, but opted instead to hold your tongue. No one was getting anywhere like this, and the longer this went on, the less sleep you’d get.
“Can I…How much money do we have left?” you asked him.
He looked confused for a moment, then took out the coin purse.
“I don’t know what that has to do with anything, but it’s all here if you really want to check,” Ashe started, emptying the coins onto the nightstand.
“No need to count,” you reached past him, picking up a coin, “I only need one.”
“O-Okay. Why…” his eyes snapped up to yours, “No.”
“Heads, you get the bed. Tails, I do.”
He made to grab for the coin, “Please, just sleep on the-”
“Hey, you’re just as tired as I am,” you moved your hand out of his wingspan. “And you know as well as I do that we could go back and forth on this until dawn. This method is fair, so let’s just do it and be done. So, heads or tails?”
“But I could…” he sighed then, retracting his arm, “I’ll sleep on the floor if it’s tails.”
You smiled, then flipped the coin. You could practically feel the exhaustion in your body as you watched it until it fell into the palm of your hand.
It was covered as you set it upon your arm.
“Last chance to back out and take the bed.”
Ashe shook his head, “It’s all yours.”
Raising a brow, you turned your attention to your arm as you revealed the result.
“...”
“...”
“Guess not.”
“N-No, I-”
You sank to the floor, your eyes starting to droop, “Enough, Ashe. Please. Let’s sleep so we can finish our job and get back by tomorrow night.” Propped up in a sitting position against the wall, you didn’t bother changing out of your street clothes. They were the only things preserving your warmth on the cool summer night. It’s not like you were at risk of ruining anyone’s bedding, anyway.
Allowing your eyes to shut, the sounds of Ashe’s movements about the room as he prepared for sleep flooded your dull senses. Eventually, though, the light went out and the covers rustled, but you could still feel eyes on your figure.
“...yes?”
“You’re going to be sore in the morning.”
He wasn’t wrong. You couldn’t deny how uncomfortable your position was, but at least this way you wouldn’t keep him up. Not with the way you knew you’d toss and turn if you slept lying completely on the floor.
“...”
“May Sothis have mercy on you if you leave that bed.”
“Please?”
You opened your eyes. It took a moment for them to adjust to the darkness, but once they did, you could make out Ashe holding the sheets up.
An invitation.
“You…what?”
“Please. It’s just for one night. A-And I’m not going to try anything, if that’s what you-”
“If I comply with this, can we please just go to sleep?”
He nodded.
“You won’t feel guilty at all? And we’ll be even?”
“You have my word.”
You groaned. Then, you shifted and began to stand.
“Fine. Let me get out of my street clothes.”
Gathering your nightclothes, you navigated to the small hall between the room and the door to change. On your way back, you folded your street clothes and set them aside. After, you climbed into the bed as Ashe did his best to make room.
A sigh escaped your lips as you felt yourself practically melt into the mattress. It was so soft compared to the unforgiving stiffness of the floor and walls of the room.
Your back was facing Ashe as you were drifting off to sleep. Subconsciously, your back pressed against the warmth of Ashe’s chest. You were too tired to register that the next noise you heard was his breath hitching.
Boldly, he let his arm wrap around you, and you hummed in contentment before finally succumbing to slumber.
~0~0~
It was still dark when you regained consciousness later that night. You were soundless, motionless, save for the fact you allowed your eyes to open.
You barely stifled the instinct to tense up your body once you realized your position. At some point in the night, you had managed to turn to face Ashe. Not only that, though. Your head wound up on his chest, along with one of your arms. He was lying flat on his back, one of his arms wrapped around you while his other hand covered your own on his chest.
Wracking your brain, you tried to figure out how exactly this could have happened. The only way your head and arm would have found their way onto Ashe’s chest would be if you had turned over in the night. That part was quite believable; you never had been one to lie still when you slept.
Still, you wondered how you hadn’t woken up until now.
No matter. The important thing now would be to decide what to do next. Should you turn back over? But it would be awkward if you accidentally woke Ashe up. Maybe you should just go back to sleep. That way, Ashe could deal with it when he woke up.
You couldn’t deny how nice it felt, though. Strange as it was to admit, he made for a comfortable pillow. Moving off him didn’t sound very appealing. Plus, he was just so warm, and waking him up didn’t sit well with you.
The decision was made. You’d just fall back asleep and let Ashe deal with everything in the morning.
And so it was.
~0~0~
When you opened your eyes again, light was streaming in through the shutters of the room’s windows.
“Ah! You’re awake, I see.”
It was all you could do to make some unintelligible noise in response. You turned your head further into your pillow.
Wait…
Your head shot up, bringing your torso with it as you propped yourself up on your arm. There was no doubt you were blushing, and your eyes were blown wide as they found Ashe’s green ones.
“Wh-”
“Sorry! I-I’m sorry, I just…woke up like this a-and I didn’t know what to do!” Ashe cried, hiding his face as he blushed, too. “I decided to let you sleep a little longer.”
“Funny,” you smiled, letting out a dry laugh, “I found myself in the same situation last night.”
“You…You did?” he asked, turning back to face you. Now it was his eyes that grew wide.
“W-Well, what was I meant to do?” you moved to get out of the bed. “It had to have been in the middle of the night, and no doubt it was my tossing and turning that got us like this! The last thing I was about to do was wake you up and then make you fall back asleep, again!”
“N-No!” Ashe reached out and grabbed your arm. His grip was light enough that you could break free if you really wanted to, but firm enough to make you stop what you were doing. “I…What I mean to say is…Well, I made the same decision you did, right? I didn’t expect you to make a different choice; I’m sure you were just trying to be considerate. N-Not that you weren’t. That’s just what I was trying to do, too, so if you think you failed, then I definitely-”
“Hey, don’t worry about it. Whatever happened, it’s over now. We can just forget about it and move on, right?”
He looked away, at that. You thought back on what you just said. Nothing seemed particularly out of line. But still, didn’t Ashe think your words warranted a response?
“Ashe?”
“I…don’t…want to forget.”
You were stunned into silence. How were you supposed to respond to that, anyway? It wasn’t like you were planning on forgetting how it felt to fall back asleep with his arm wrapped around you either, though.
“Sorry! I shouldn’t have said anything. You’re right. Let’s just forget about this and get ready to leave,” he took his hand off your arm and used it to brace himself as he started to get up.
Now, it was your turn to reach out to him, “No, no! I mean, I’m still so tired from everything that happened yesterday. I don’t think I’m quite ready to get up for the day, yet.”
Your eyes met his, hoping that was enough of a lead to get him to understand how you felt.
“Oh, uh…yeah, I think I’m still a bit tired, too. We still have some time before we truly need to get up for the day.”
“Perfect!” you smiled, getting back under the covers. “Then we can catch up on our rest together, if that’s alright with you?”
His arm found its way back around you, again. You placed your head on his chest once more, and you felt him sigh as his body lost its tension.
“I think that’s a wonderful idea.”
hi lovely! thank you for doing this! it’s been super fun. also, apologies if i get something wrong it’s been forever since i’ve played fe3h.
i match you with… ashe!
Ashe is genuinely one of the most caring and kind people you’d ever met. You met your first day at the monastery and accidentally tripped up the stairs going to the library. Ashe saw and immediately asked if you were okay, making sure you had no injuries and reassuring you if you were a little embarrassed.
You mentioned that you were new, and he offered to take you on a tour of the monastery. You’d already been given one by Seteth, but Goddess knows he was difficult to pay attention to, so you agreed. It was way more fun than studying, and Ashe’s company was a lot better than being alone in a new place.
You grew accustomed to having him by your side—whether it be in the Blue Lions classroom, the training arena, or the dining hall. You were inseparable.
Sure, the rest of the Lions were amazing company, but it just didn’t compare to Ashe.
You both kept the other Lions out of trouble, making sure they do their best in school and training as well as each other. Ashe uplifts you in every aspect of your life, whether it’s your academics, talents, training, or just being your best self. He’s genuinely your biggest supporter and this is still before you get together. Imagine how he is once you actually do.
Ashe is like, the sweetest boyfriend to exist. He wants to do almost everything for you just for the sake of taking care of you, but also respects your boundaries. No PDA or affection that is too much for you to handle. Keeps an eye out in case you do get shy, but thinks it’s super cute so he might do it on purpose here and there. Never too far, though.
It gets rough when Lonato dies, and even harder once the war begins. With Dimitri and the Professor’s return, the war becomes serious and your relationship is put under a lot of strain. There are stressful times and hard conversations about your lives on the line. But never once does he want to leave you or think that you’re not worth the added stress.
If anything, Ashe trains harder to be able to protect both him and you, even though he knows you’re fully capable of protecting yourself. You do the same, ready to risk your life to save him even though you promised him you wouldn’t.
Luckily for the both of you, it doesn’t come to that. The war is won, and it is time for peace.
You and Ashe find peace in Faerghus, where he takes over Lonato’s lordship and works closely with Dimitri and Byleth to rebuild Fodlan. You help him, supporting your now-fiancé to the best of your abilities.
Your life has been up and down since the day you met Ashe, but you wouldn’t change it for anything. Especially when you see the tears in his eyes as you walk down the isle, all of your former classmates and friends around you. Life is good.
