“AFAB” is hardly a class. You don’t know anything about someone AFAB except that they were assigned female at birth. You don’t know if they’re perisex, if they have a uterus or ovaries or even a vagina, you don’t know if they menstruate or are capable of giving birth, and you don’t know what their biological sex or chromosomes are. Literally just saw a TERF minutes ago posting about “TRAs” denying AFAB solidarity, and I’ve exclusively seen it in tandem with the transphobic idea of “AMAB supremacy,” so I’m very confident in my assertion it’s a TERF talking point intended to connect people AFAB with womanhood and against trans women.

Can I rant about something?

I saw a post about how "TME" people posting "terfs drop dead" in their bios was entirely performative, and like, I pretty much agree with that, but then it went on to say that if TME people want to protect trans women they should go on to TERF blogs and go through them to block the OPs of TERF posts so TERFs can't find trans women to harass and like...

They are aware that they're asking trans people to go through the blogs of transphobes and read horrible, transphobic posts, right? Like, I tried doing that years back and it was pretty much a form of mental self harm. I wouldn't even suggest cis people do that without putting up extreme mental buttresses, and I would recommend against doing it at all, because radfem blogs can be that fucking rancid.

Like, do the posters of that kind of post realise what they're doing to trans people who aren't trans women, or do they just not care?

Yeah, I think the idea is that it won't affect other trans people the way it affects trans women/fems because TERFs are perceived as wanting to "protect" trans people afab the way they claim to. We're seen as barely being hurt by them, if not directly in cahoots with them or on our way to detransitioning and becoming TERFs ourselves (something I've personally been accused of). But that kind of thinking has in fact driven me to seek out TERFs and other transphobes talking about us just to prove that it happens often, and it's been absolutely terrible for my mental health. I don't think anyone should expose themselves to that if they can help it.
