I'd hoped to shoot the milky way on this trip, but I made the rookie mistake of not checking the lunar calendar before we booked, so I was stuck with a full moon and no milky way to be seen. But shooting with the moonlight was fascinating. The way it lit up the canyon like broad daylight was utterly wild. If only the moon had had the decency to scooch a little to the left and light up the falls.

Some language notes: Seeing "transgendered" and "hermaphrodite" as less than ideal word choices was an idea that took time to catch on. In this book's particular time period and LGBTQI social circles, the writers saw these as acceptable words. By "astral body," the author means a spiritual counterpart of the body (p. 311).

If there was one word that Joshua had to use to describe Gladio it would have been, very simply - serious. There were other words he could use as well, words in tandem, but the first and foremost was just how... unfun he could be.

It wasn't his fault. It was his job, his duty to make sure the Prince was always taken care of. Joshua could only guess at some of the things that he may have even been forced to go through growing up. Stern lessons and events that would have driven home the fact that all that mattered was Noctis' safety. And there was no denying that protecting the prince was important.

Did it just have to come at the cost of Gladio having anything that resembled a life?

The offer had just been to go for a walk. At night, after everyone had gone to bed, but it wasn't like the Prince would really be alone or left defenseless. An offer that Joshua had been sure Gladio would end up turning down. How could he not, after all? It'd be doing something other than his duty...

Karlach couldn't help the determined smirk. A part of her had been itching to go blade-to-blade with the great Lae'zel. She was a beast on the battlefield and would no doubt give Karlach a strong competition should they brawl. So, when the opportunity to duel for training came up - Karlach snatched up the chance.

"Oooh, I don't think you'd want that, Lae'zel." Karlach grinned with furrowed brows as she twirled her axe in her grip - bracing herself. "Wouldn't want to embarrass you."

Nilza’s mind inadvertently went to the last offer of a key she’d had so long ago, and bit her lip a little. How the hell had she ended up in this position- to be getting offered a key? How was she this close to someone? Maybe she needed to pull back, slam on the brakes and run. She should- if only for Cassia’s sake. Because nothing but bad things happen with Nilza, right? She only loses people. And somehow she’s caring for this woman, which is surely tempting the universe.

“Yeah if that’s what you’re okay with.”

The words had already come out of her mouth. Too late. She could take them back, sure. At the risk of angering her, or worse, hurting her. What’s the worse thing that could happen? Actually she shouldn’t begin to think about that because there was too many options.

“I mean, I could try to pick your lock but it’s been a minute since I’ve done that- for good reasons! But like, neighbors might see. Call the cops. It be a mess…”

He had seen cameras before, but never really understood just what they... did. Most of his lives had been spent on the outskirts of civilization, closer to those who couldn't afford treatment for the hurts and ailments. Getting to be up-close and personal with a camera had just never been something that could happen. Not that he really minded, but when gifted with the opportunity to try it for himself Joshua didn't hesitate.

(He did notice the slight hesitation in the other's voice when it came to trying to answer the questions that Joshua had presented. Perhaps... traps wasn't the right word?)

"Yeah." It didn't look like it had to be too hard - all Prompto ever seemed to do was just press a button or maybe fiddle with the front of the camera. But it still managed to perfectly replicate whatever he had been looking at.
