I’m sorry, I don’t understand the point of Ren’s father running to fight the Nuckelavee when he had Ren in his arms, while they were both disoriented/hurt. Honor be damned! Is your elementary school aged son supposed to take care of himself in the woods with the bandits and other towns presumably also being harrassed by the Grimm? This man was supposed to be a lower case “h” hunter, which implies outdoors experience and knowledge of evading Grimm for at least a while - would it not have made sense for him to, oh I don’t know, take care of his elementary school son in the murder woods? Ren finding Nora and somehow surviving for another decade is just never explained because the writers just wanted some drama without thinking through the complications of making Ren’s dad such an idiot that he damaged his son’s chances for survival just to fight a Grimm that the town is completely ill equipped for, THAT WASN’T EVEN ATTACKING HIM SPECIFICALLY. It was on the other side of the town but he just had to go back to fight it because ???
Plus like, imagine an AU with Li, his son and adoptive daughter processing their grief and possibly even becoming a badass Grimm killing family. Does it not warm your heart at least a little bit?
it was definitely more "rule of cool / drama" than it was anything truly based in realistic thought because even with li as injured as he was: the choice to run & hide with his toddler son was the better option than getting immediately nerfed & then still not being able to protect his son. it was noble, but idiotic.
the au of li & his children is just so 🥺 especially since it would help plug up the holes of just how two toddler aged children ended up surviving post the nuckalavee's attack for over a decade without changing too much. ren & nora can still go to beacon, li doesn't have to follow them through there & we would get another parental figure for the show. win win win.
i'm stealing this au now / hj

What it means to be a good king
[Name]'s blade sliced through the last carcass like it was nothing. With a final scream, the mutated creature fell to the ground, lifeless and silent. They wiped the sweat from their forehead with the back of their hands as they finally felt some relief. The amount of carcasses had increased in the last few days. "I think that was the last one, Romeo, at least for now," they muttered before looking around for their friend. "Romeo?" they said when no answer was given. [Name] glanced around once more, expecting to see their puppet friend beside them, but instead he was busy with a broken puppet on the side of the street.
Romeo knelt before the puppet as it sat against a wall. Its lower half was completely missing, and one of its arms was hanging loose from its torso. "Is this my king? Oh… even in this form… you look so tall…" the puppet said in broken words. It was so badly damaged, probably from the carcass' corrosive acid. Had it fought them? Romeo's eyes widened slightly when he finally heard the formal title. King. He had almost forgotten that he is their king. Romeo, the king of Krat's puppets, the role he was meant to play, but what king would let his people fight such horrible creatures? Puppet or human, it doesn't matter. He felt bad seeing one of his puppets like this. "I thought you were dead… you look so different" the marionette said cheerfully, "but I can tell it's you… Your Ergo… Only our king would have such a strong Ergo". "I may have been your king," replied Romeo, "but not a good one. I never meant for you…". "Don't say that, my king. Not only did you try to save us… we who remember… you also tried to save people from… this terrible disease… We know you tried your best…".
"By sending you on a suicide mission? You… who are as human as I am… I…". "No, my King, by believing in us, by treating us as living beings… and so we believe in you, we see you as a living being… yourself… good and bad… my King… I". Romeo was on the verge of tears. Was that really the way all those puppets felt about him? Had he really been a good king to all of them? Although he wished they never had to fight at all. As he realised that the puppet had become far too quiet, his gaze fell on [Name]. His expression said enough about what he wanted to say, but [Name] could only shake their head in response.
"I'm sorry, Romeo, but I can't fix this puppet." The king slowly got up from his knees. Eyes focused on the doll one last time before he picked up his scythe. Its 'death' saddens him, but he hopes that one day he'll find another way to give poor souls, like this puppet, another chance for life.
Oh, my king.
We are so proud of you.
You do not rule over us and command us as others Kings do.
You simply put your hands around us, protecting us all.
And make us realise that we deserve to be here.
We want to serve you, to help you.
And whatever command comes from you.
We follow it.
Because you are our king,
our ruler with a kind heart.
And we know, even though we are not human.
You would shed a tear for all of us.

("Pan Pan")
LOVELACE
I will never understand you people. How can you stand to be around him?
HILBERT
Because they understand what you never have. You do what you need to. You adapt. You survive. Sometimes you have to work with the devil, but -
MINKOWSKI
Hilbert, stop talking.
HILBERT
Why? Am I being too indelicate?
MINKOWSKI
No, because if you don't shut up right this second she's not going to get a chance to kill you.
("Happy Endings")
HILBERT
Captain?
Slowly, three heads turn towards the other person in the room.
HILBERT (CONT'D)
You have been very quiet.
So she has. For a BEAT she just stares at Hilbert evenly.
HILBERT (CONT’D)
You understand. You know how bad things will get. You are not like them. You are -
LOVELACE
You have ten seconds to get out of this room.
Love that Hilbert just keeps trying the exact same thing on different people. Actually that's his entire character isn't it

can we please have a peek into sirius’ (or narcissa’s) thoughts on regulus’ relationship with voldemort in both ays and tlwd??
Oh boy 😂 Sirius has some things to say about Regulus' taste in men.
ays(aml)
In this one, Sirius is more wary and cautious around Regulus. He knows something's up with his brother, but he doesn't know what and he doesn't know about the whole time travel thing. All he knows is that one day his little brother woke up, grew a spine of steel and decided to take over the world - starting with Britain.
So he's very aware that Regulus is Not Chill, and that his brother is apparently waging open war against the rumoured Dark Lord (because Voldemort hasn't kicked off any major assaults yet and is still operating largely in the shadows). Sirius knows that Regulus can take care of himself and is embodying the notion of "doing bad things for the right reasons".
But once he picks up on the weird vibes between Regulus and Riddle, and the truth of who Riddle is comes out - Sirius for once doesn't react rashly.
No.
Just this once he pauses, takes a breath, and asks Regulus what's up. He sits, and he listens, and he withholds his judgement. Because Regulus is different now, and is playing a dangerous, deadly game against a man neither of them could hope to match magically, and he needs all the help he can get.
Sirius left his brother behind once before, and he refuses to do it again.
So he listens. He hears everything Regulus says and everything he doesn't say, and he realises almost immediately that this is one hurt he can't stop. This is an oncoming hit he can't step in front of and take instead.
Sirius knows Regulus is setting himself up for heartbreak, and though it burns and he can't quite understand why Regulus has seemingly in part fallen for his ultimate enemy (the man he wants to kill and has actively been planning to murder for months), he quietly accepts that he'll just have to be there for him in the aftermath.
tlwd(btps)
In this AU, Sirius is a hell of a lot more critical, and in part that's because he's got a lot more rage at Voldemort. Here, Sirius has lost James and Lily, lost Remus, lost Peter, and lost years of his life.
He lost the chance to raise his godson.
So he's angrier at the world and at Voldemort, and when it becomes clear that Regulus is, in some manner, interested in the Dark Lord (no matter how reluctantly, no matter how much he denies it), Sirius doesn't take it well.
They clash about it. Loudly. Viciously. Tossing around mean words and digging their fingers into each other's weak spots in the bloody way only family really can.
Sirius brings up Harry, callously calling Regulus' love for his adopted son into question because how can you like the man that murdered his parents?
Regulus bites back about Sirius' inability to separate James from Harry and that of the two of them, it is Regulus that has been there for Harry because revenge was more important to Sirius than protecting his godson.
They don't talk to each other for days after that fight.
And even in the future, once they've brushed it off like they do with all their fights (ignoring the way their words still festered because that's how they were raised), Sirius still is never supportive of whatever the fuck is going on between Voldemort and Regulus.
The only difference is he keeps his ire firmly aimed in Voldemort's direction.

The nameless puppet put all his strength together, one last time. His weapon raised, his body moving towards and striking down. Geppetto tried to jump between his 'son' and 'creation', but he wasn't quickly enough. But someone else was. The sound of metal hitting flesh and blood echoed through the room. A cough shortly followed.
Between the Nameless Puppet and the puppet man was [Name], impaled by it's scissors shaped blade. "I... Know you didn't want to kill him... You just wanted... It to stop... But not like this Car-..." They dropped to their knees, quickly caught by P. Geppetto could only stare as the Nameless Puppet dropped to the ground while P held his injured lover. The man wanted to yell, to finish it himself, but what happened before his face stopped him.
"I am sorry... I... I was so scared. I had to do it", [Name] whispered while the blood filled their lungs. They could feel their lovers hand cupping their cheek, so gentle and warm. Has he always been like this? "Please... Be careful. Don't... Let anyone decide what you should do... With your life", tears started to drop down their cheeks. "Please. Just life my love... And you...", they pulled all their strength together to turn their head around, "Do the right thing... Don't mess up again... For Carlo... For him... Don't let new chance be a waste. Be a good father for him".
As they turned their head around, the felt another wetness on their face, but it was not from their tears. They looked at the puppetman's face to meet with tears filled eyes. He cried. He cried for the first time and it was for them.
With one last smile and the gentle touch of their hands they pulled him down for a kiss and spoke: "I... Wish... Your first cry would have been out of happiness and joy. I am... Sorry... That it came like this... Please don't cry anymore... Please... Forgive me... Have... A good life... I love... You"

So. Proud to announce that I am developing an ARK AU/rewrite of the lore! I have been planning to make it from The Island to Extinction, and it will be made in form of a comic and occasional animation here and there. Have the poster I made some time ago :)
