i think the funniest part of reading the hannibal books and comparing them to the movies is the differences between clarice starling, like book clarice would gladly tell someone to kill themself but movie clarice would NEVER and i think that’s hilarious

random new humans are weird thought
Are humans one of the few species (or the only?) to put numerous warning labels on things (labels that tend to get ignored). For example the 'keep out of reach of children' label for stuff like plastic bags. 'Do not put on head' type thing because people could suffocate. Imagine if other species either had more or less common sense than humans.
More: warning labels not required, they already know all the risks of that type of thing/don't need to be reminded with written warnings -> humans probably die/get injured more frequently when using equipment made by that smarter species.
Less: either don't even put warning labels on things (-> that species is frequently injured by manufactured products), or have a lot more warning labels and safety precautions and redundancies to reduce the likelihood of injuries (though they likely still have those)

i’ve been seeing a lot about supernatural recently (and it’s making me want to actually commit to watching the show in full) and it made me remember the crossover with scooby doo, and how much i wish they crossed over with the x files instead

There's something so so nice about eating a warm meal at a small, almost hidden, local restaurant...
The people are so nice, the food is amazing despite being on the cheaper end and I always leave with a happy feeling mixed with a sweet sadness that its gone followed by the freshness of knowing you'll probably be back soon.
It's oddly... sentimental💕

Rest in peace, Blackie.
She was only mine for 2 years after being my grandparents' baby for 12 but she was the best roommate I ever had and maybe the best I ever will have. My grandpa named her Blackie (and her friend "Orangey") when she was a street cat he was feeding. My grandma named her Bebe when they brought her into the house. I called her "Cat" and "Babes" and "Blackie" and "Blackie-baby" and "Bebe." She liked to have her cheeks brushed and to sit in the same room with me while I studied and sometimes to play fiercely with a ribbon for about five minutes before calling it a night, and after she warmed up to living with me she used to wait at the bottom of the stairs until I would go up to bed so she could curl up taking up most of my pillow and purr me to sleep. She's been living with my parents the last two years and was probably 18 or 19. The last time I saw her was last August and I'm not shocked that I won't see her again but I will continue to miss her as I already have been doing. I saw her on a video call before the end and my brother gave her a forehead kiss for me. I used to always kiss her right there. Goodbye, baby. I love you.

ooooughh h with the new New Crew episode it seems the Concierge is the MOST human-like out of any of the staff....his fantasy at the beginning...his ideal sanctuary being this fancy library (his lounge) with the perfect fire and the wine ....also thinking about how sensory-focused he is - how everything Needs to be Just So, how he hones in on details like taste and smell and appearance, and even the way he can 'read' the guests...
He has, I'd argue, the strangest way of Seeing of the Hotel out of any of the staff - not Nothing, like the Auditor, and not a bunch of meat and guts like the Bellhop, but the hazy starlight and cosmos etc etc. But then he has such heightened sense for the things they presumably do not. He has so much more earthly connection, but to what end? He'll never get to be there in the fancy library and taste the wine and feel the comforting yet not burning warmth of the fire, no matter how perfectly he can imagine it.
The temptations to be drawn into that more earthly, more human realm are there, if highly idealized (but then, who is the Concierge if not a man of standards so high they reach the cosmos itself?). But he sacrifices those wants and desires for the sake of proving himself, his loyalty and his duty to the Hotel...I wonder how long he can hold onto his refined composure for if that continues on?

something i find interesting about hannibal is how they casted kacey rohl, who has a striking resemblance to jodie foster in the silence of the lambs, to play abigail hobbs, a young girl who is traumatized by the death of her father and is haunted by him - much like clarice starling was

Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one’s understanding without guidance from another. This immaturity is self-imposed when its cause lies not in lack of understanding, but in lack of resolve and courage to use it without guidance from another. Sapere Aude! “Have courage to use your own understanding!”--that is the motto of enlightenment.
Immanuel Kant

My last room was a fancy big room (not the penthouse but the grade below that) and they left a note asking for 10 bottles of water and a tip of $1 USD.
Why do Americans not know how to properly tip despite tipping being a big part of their culture?
Is it so hard to leave a tip in the CORRECT CURRENCY????
YOU'RE IN AUSTRALIA. USD HAS NO USE HERE!!!!
