The Ultimate Guide What to Look for in Beauty Skin Care Products
Tumblr media
In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the essential factors to consider when selecting beauty skin care products Australia to maintain healthy and radiant skin.
Selecting the right skin care products is crucial for achieving optimal skin health and addressing specific concerns, such as hydration, anti-aging, and brightening.
Understanding Your Skin Type
Understanding your skin type is the first step in creating an effective skincare routine. Skin types can broadly be categorised as oily, dry, combination, and sensitive. Each skin type has distinct characteristics and requires specific care.
Identifying your skin type can be achieved through simple tests or observations. For example, oily skin often appears shiny, especially in the T-zone, while dry skin may feel tight and flaky.
Combination skin exhibits both oily and dry areas, while sensitive skin is prone to redness and irritation.
By understanding your skin type, you can tailor your skincare routine to address your individual needs effectively.
Key Ingredients to Look For
When choosing beauty skin care products Australia, it's essential to look for key ingredients that target specific skin concerns. Hyaluronic acid is a crucial ingredient for hydration, as it has the ability to hold moisture in the skin, resulting in a plump and dewy complexion.
For anti-aging benefits, products containing retinol, a form of vitamin A, are highly effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is renowned for its brightening properties and is beneficial for addressing hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.
In addition to these essential ingredients, natural components such as aloe vera, tea tree oil, and green tea extract offer soothing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits, making them valuable additions to Australian skin care products.
Avoiding Harmful Ingredients
It's equally important to be mindful of harmful ingredients commonly found in beauty products. Ingredients such as parabens, sulphates, and artificial fragrances can have adverse effects on the skin.
Tumblr media
Parabens, often used as preservatives, have been linked to hormone disruption, while sulphates, responsible for creating lather in cleansers, can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.
Artificial fragrances, while providing a pleasant scent, may cause allergic reactions and sensitivities. Educating yourself about these harmful ingredients and their potential risks is vital in making informed choices when selecting skin care products.
Product Testing and Patch Testing
Before fully incorporating a new product into your skincare routine, it's essential to conduct product testing and patch testing to ensure compatibility with your skin.
Testing new products on a small area of the skin, such as the inner forearm, allows you to observe any adverse reactions or allergies before applying the product to a larger area.
To conduct a patch test, apply a small amount of the product to the test area and wait for at least 24 hours to monitor for any redness, itching, or irritation. This precautionary step is crucial, especially for individuals with sensitive skin or allergies, and helps prevent potential skin reactions.
Reading Labels and Understanding Claims
Deciphering product labels and understanding various claims can be overwhelming, but it is essential for making informed decisions. Terms like "hypoallergenic," "non-comedogenic," and "dermatologist-tested" carry specific meanings that can guide your product selection.
For instance, hypoallergenic products are formulated to minimise allergic reactions, non-comedogenic products are less likely to clog pores and cause acne, and dermatologist-tested products have undergone evaluation by dermatology professionals.
However, it's crucial to not solely rely on marketing claims and instead prioritise reading ingredient lists to understand the actual composition of the product. This empowers you to make informed choices based on your skin's unique needs and sensitivities.
Conclusion
Selecting the right beauty skin care products Australia is a fundamental aspect of maintaining healthy, radiant skin.
By understanding your skin type, identifying key ingredients, avoiding harmful components, conducting thorough testing, and interpreting product labels, you can make informed decisions that cater to your skin's individual needs and preferences.
Embracing a personalised approach to skincare empowers you to curate a routine that nurtures and enhances your skin's natural beauty. Here's to healthy, glowing skin and well-informed choices in your skincare journey!

Scientists are very serious.
This is a post about science. And soup.
Dr. Elinne Becket, a microbiologist from Cal State University, is in the middle of one of those Fridge Experiments that happens to us all - except in this case, she is uniquely placed to unravel the science down to the microbial level.
While cleaning out her fridge, Dr. Becket found that a tub of family-recipe beef vegetable soup had turned bright blue. “Ok I'm outing myself here,” she tweeted, “but there was forgotten beef soup in our fridge we just cleaned it out and it was BLUE?!?!? Wtf contam would make it blue??? Like BRIGHT blue!!  Even w/ all my years in micro I'm not handling this well.“
Tumblr media
Read on for a breathless and ongoing saga of Soup and Science, and the wonderful international community that is Academic Twitter.
Academic Twitter quickly reminded her of her Responsibilities to Scientific Inquiry. (Cue the chanting from around the world of “CLONE THE SOUP! CLONE THE SOUP!”)
“I can’t believe y’all talked me into going back into the trash.” she tweeted in response, over a photo of a puddle of beautiful Mediterranean-sea blue soup in the trash bin, with bits of veg and noodles arising from the depths.
Tumblr media
Scientists being scientists, Dr. Becket agreed to take a sample and send it to colleagues for cloning and microbial analysis. This involved getting arms-deep into the trash bin of Old Soup. “I’m never forviging @ATinyGreenCell (genomic biologist Sebastian Cocioba) for this.” Dr. Becket tweeted, with a photo of a properly dipped and snipped and VERY blue q-tip in a small clear plastic tub.
Tumblr media
Diving into decomposing soup was not the only hazard. She writes: “My mom (who made the soup for my birthday) came across this thread and now 1) I have to answer for letting her soup spoil and 2) she's worried @ATinyGreenCell will figure out her secret recipe.“
Dr. Becket and Sebastian were able to culture the Blue Goo!
Becket posted a photo of three petri plates of streaked beef bouillon agar at 72 hours incubation, at 37C, room temp and 4C. She writes: “Left the plates where they were for another 2 days, except the 37°C one was brought to RT, which then grew white stuff over the yellow stuff and stinks to high heaven. RT looked the same. 4°C had impressive growth. Restreaked them all onto TECH agar, awaiting results!”
Tumblr media
Sebastian, from his lab, tweeted a photo of three more covered petri dishes, with early results: “Great progress on isolating the glowy microbe from our #BlueSoup! It's so fluorescent the streak is GREEN. Still needs another restreak as it seems there is a straggler but should clear up in the next plate. Exciting!”
Then yesterday, Sebastian tweeted out an updated photo of his plates under daylight and blacklight. “Whatever grew on the #BlueSoup colony plates overnight glows under UV, but only on King's Agar B! That particular media is used to tease out fluorescein expression in pseudomonads. What are the chances that the same cell line expresses fluorescent AND blue pigments?“
Tumblr media
“Looking closer, there definitely is a handful of different microbes showing distinct phenotypes. Could be that the blue producer and the fluorescent microbes are totally different microbes!”
At which point, Professor Cynthia Whitchurch of Norwich, England, responded: “Consistent with P. fluorescens being at least part of the #BlueSoup community. The fluorescence is due to production of the siderophore pyoverdine which is up-regulated when iron availability is limited. P. aeruginosa produced this too but my guess is you have blue Pf.”
And Australian agricultural researcher @WAJWebster helpfully tweeted a petri dish of ALL KINDS of colourful bacterial colonies from white to yellow to orange to stark black, with a cheerful: “You need bact-o--colours? I got you, fam.”
Tumblr media
The best part is that as of today, March 9, 2023, THE BLUE SOUP MYSTERY CONTINUES. WE ARE WATCHING SCIENCE HAPPENING!
A paper is being written. And Dr. Becket’s mum is getting an author credit as the proprietary owner of the #BlueSoup recipe.

The newest video from lab muffin beauty science seems like exactly up the alley of someone with your crusade for fact-checking. It was a wild ride of enlightenment, highly recommend.
Oh this is REALLY interesting. Thanks for the recommendation!
youtube
I first noticed the benzoyl peroxide scare when someone mentioned it in a post I made about the Radium Girls story inducing "what are they hiding from us now?!" anxiety, and I looked it up. I don't use any products with that ingredient at the moment, but it seemed worth checking into. And despite me not being a scientist, the fact that the benzene levels they cited showed up at VERY high temperatures seemed...off. Like how frequently are the products ever at those temperatures? "Maybe in a hot car?" I thought, but still wondered how often acne cream is left in a car in Australian high summer for that long.
And hey- the history professional with little chemistry knowledge was right! Seems like even ordinary laypeople can see the issue here if they just read the study even a little bit.
But because humans respond more to dramatic headlines- and, not going to lie, because we've been primed to believe in this by companies CONSTANTLY doing it for real throughout history with heavy metal dyes, radium, tobacco products, asbestos, fossil fuels, PFAs, etc. -you get "we're all rubbing cancer on our faces!!!!" reactions.
Really highlights the need for a balance between watching companies like hawks because they've proven that they will kill us if it pads their bottom line, and not falling for junk science.

Discrimination on Romance Media
Tumblr media
Bridgerton officially announced their female lead for the upcoming Benedict’s season, a Korean-Australian woman. The casting announcement was well received by some fans but like with every change on Bridgerton there was push back from the diehard fans of the novels. I understand feeling disappointed on an adaptation, we all had been there at some point, but when does it stop being disappointment and start being hatred towards the communities that will now see themselves represented by these changes? Why does the change of race, body type or sexuality create this type of uproar?
And yes, also body type. One of the comments I saw asked “when we will finally see a non-diverse couple?”, to which several people replied that Polin season was led by a non-diverse couple. The original commenter said, “she was fat, that is diverse for me.”
Romcoms and romance novels are a genre that has been active for several decades now, and when we look back at them, it is easy to notice how the vast majority of the content is led by a straight white couple. A couple whose bodies fit the beauty standards established by the North American and European markets. Nowadays the beauty standard is a petite woman, and a man build like a truck, something incredible common on the romance novels popularized on Instagram and Tiktok.
The problem with these types of media is not that they exist, but that people use it as the standard for how romance couples should look like in the products they consume. Bridgerton is honestly a prime example.
A black man as the lead? Sure, as long as it looks like Simon but not John Stirling, we don’t find him attractive. A bisexual man is okay if he ends up with another man, because the fetish is real, but not if he chooses a woman to date – I won’t see him attractive after I saw him kissing another man (actual comment I saw on Instagram about Benedict). And it goes way worse when it comes to female leads, the racism against Michaela, Kate and now Sophie is alarmingly high. The fatphobia surrounding Nicola, even coming from reporters. The homophobia against Francesca.
The fandom on a lot of romance media is created by white straight women that only want men they find attractive in their narrow view of the world, and women they can relate to a.k.a white skinny woman. If the media dares to go against it, they will raise hell. To the point of telling the original creators, in this example Julia Quinn, that they are woke sell outs with no respect for their own work (just check her Instagram and you will see.)
Adding more diversity on romance is by no means removing the typical representation. Just look at the success “Anyone but you” had last year, even though it wasn’t the best romcom, it still had a great reception. In fact, looking at the romcoms from the past year, over half of them are led by white straight couple. Yet, the uproar for diversity on romance continues.
I am a firm believer that everybody deserves to see themselves in romance stories, and I don’t think I’ll ever change that point of view. I just hope that people can look back at their actions and stop believing that romance should only be available for a certain group.

Nourish and Renew: Essential Beauty Skincare for Healthy Skin
Tumblr media
Welcome to a comprehensive guide on essential beauty skincare for achieving and maintaining healthy, glowing skin. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook the importance of skincare in our daily routines.
However, taking care of your skin is an essential aspect of self-care and can have a significant impact on your overall well-being. In this blog post, let’s explore the guidelines for nourishing and renewing your skin with beauty skin care products Australia-wide, empowering you to embrace a skincare routine that revitalises and nurtures your complexion.
Understanding Your Skin Type
To embark on a journey towards healthy skin, it's crucial to first understand your skin type. There are four main skin types: normal, oily, dry, and combination. Normal skin is well-balanced, with minimal issues, while oily skin tends to produce excess sebum, leading to a shiny complexion and potential acne concerns.
On the other hand, dry skin often feels tight, rough, or flaky due to a lack of moisture, and combination skin features a mix of both oily and dry areas on the face.
Determining your own skin type can be as simple as observing how your skin feels throughout the day. For instance, if you experience oiliness in the T-zone but dryness on the cheeks, you likely have combination skin. Using Australian skin care products tailored to your specific skin type is essential for effective skincare, as they address the unique needs and concerns of your complexion, ensuring optimal results.
Daily Skincare Routine
Establishing a daily skincare routine forms the foundation of a healthy skincare regimen. A simple yet effective routine typically includes cleansing, toning, moisturising, and sun protection.
Cleansing removes impurities and prepares the skin for subsequent steps, while toning helps balance the skin's pH and tightens pores. Moisturising is vital for providing hydration and nourishment, and sun protection shields the skin from harmful UV rays, preventing premature aging and damage.
Consistency is key when it comes to skincare routines. By diligently following the routine each day, you can maximise the benefits of the products and maintain a healthy complexion. Depending on your skin type, it's important to select products that are specifically formulated to address its unique needs.
For example, those with oily skin may benefit from lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturisers, while individuals with dry skin may require richer, more hydrating formulations.
Nourishing Ingredients & Their Benefits
In the quest for healthy, radiant skin, incorporating nourishing beauty skin care products Australia into your skincare routine can make a remarkable difference. Hyaluronic acid, known for its exceptional hydrating properties, helps the skin retain moisture, resulting in a plump and supple appearance.
Tumblr media
Vitamin C is a powerhouse antioxidant that brightens the skin, promotes collagen production, and protects against environmental damage. Retinol, a form of vitamin A, is renowned for its ability to stimulate cell turnover, diminish fine lines, and refine skin texture. Antioxidants such as green tea extract and niacinamide safeguard the skin from free radical damage and soothe inflammation.
Understanding the benefits of these key ingredients empowers you to make informed choices when selecting skincare products. Look for serums, moisturisers, and treatments that contain these beneficial ingredients to target specific concerns and enhance the overall health of your skin.
Renewal Techniques for Radiant Skin
Exfoliation is a vital step in the renewal of the skin's surface, promoting cell turnover and revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. However, it's important to exercise caution and avoid over-exfoliation, which can compromise the skin's barrier and lead to irritation.
Incorporating exfoliation into your skincare routine, whether through physical or chemical exfoliants, should be done in moderation, taking into account your skin type and its sensitivity.
Gentle exfoliants are particularly suitable for various skin types, ensuring effective exfoliation without causing undue irritation. Look for Australian skin care products that feature fine granules or mild exfoliating acids, catering to the specific needs of your skin.
By incorporating exfoliation into your skincare regimen, you can achieve a renewed and revitalised complexion without compromising your skin's health.
Lifestyle Habits for Skin Health
While beauty skin care products Australia play a significant role in maintaining healthy skin, lifestyle habits also exert a profound impact on your complexion. Factors such as diet, hydration, sleep, and exercise all contribute to overall skin health.
A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and essential fatty acids nourishes the skin from within, while adequate hydration ensures proper moisture levels and a radiant complexion. Quality sleep is essential for skin renewal and repair, and regular exercise promotes healthy circulation, contributing to a vibrant, healthy-looking complexion.
By paying attention to these lifestyle habits, you can support and enhance the effects of your skincare routine, nurturing your skin from the inside out. Embracing a holistic approach to skincare empowers you to achieve a healthy and radiant complexion that reflects your overall well-being.
Summing Up
In this guide we have explored the essential aspects of beauty skincare, guiding you through understanding your skin type, establishing a daily skincare routine, harnessing the benefits of nourishing ingredients, embracing renewal techniques, and adopting lifestyle habits that promote skin health.
By implementing these beauty skin care products Australia into your daily skincare regimen, you can embark on a journey towards vibrant, glowing skin. Thank you for joining us on this exploration of essential beauty skincare, and here's to nurturing and renewing your skin for a healthier, more radiant you.

1). I may have a few ideas for Jamil since we are dealing with gems, gold, jewels, and such. But I am also adding a bit of a snake theme idea for him
2). Imagine Yuu and Grim in the Cafeteria eanting to make an announcement among the school about their birthday. Would the reaction towards this vary or would Yuu be coddled like crazy based on how they see Yuu based on one of your previous posts?
Tumblr media
Ooh, I'd love to hear your ideas for Jamil! I kinda want to give him a cobra hood behind his head and torso, but I'm not sure how well that would work,,, if it does work well I'd probably add gold and silver details in some places... I think I kinda want him to have a more human-y face like Epel does, but I also don't know what texture I would opt for - maybe a gemstone overlay with silver patterns on his face partially inspired by his OB form...
Tumblr media
As for a birthday announcement!
I feel like it'd spread through the college like a rumour (Cater's fault) and Yuu would be the recipient of an odd approximation of human birthday traditions if they've explained how they work, or Weirdcore traditions if they haven't. I'll put my elaboration on both of these scenarios under the cut since it's gonna be pretty long lmao
Tumblr media
If they've spoken about human traditions enough for it to be known of by their friends, then they'll wake up to a fair number of gifts left at their door from various friends and some other students who they're on the good side of (like some other flower-head students they helped get out of Azul's contracts giving them little pots of eye goop)
They end up needing Vil to go through any beauty products they receive to make sure they're safe enough for more fragile skin types, and they end up asking Ace and Deuce about what various items they were given are meant for (which is met by some teasing if they ask about something that are believed to be obvious in their world)
Some of the odd items they may receive are various ornaments that stick in corners of rooms like cobwebs, a one-way window film that makes it look like a galaxy is inside the house instead of letting people see inside, and some odd item like that plumbus thing from Rick and Morty. Aside from that, they might also be given assorted food items that may not be found in their world, or clothing items tailored to fit them.
As for a birthday party, it would be somewhat similar to the unbirthday parties in the Weirdcore AU - with odd desserts that seem to have faces or whimper when you go to take a bite to boot! (Don't worry, there are sweets and foods that are a bit more normal too! Trey even figured out something that's more like the cakes back home!)
If their human friend follows the Brazilian birthday tradition of giving the first slice of cake to the person they love most, everyone's gonna be trying to subtly or not-so-subtly convince them to pick them as the person who gets the first slice of cake. An Australian human may get an odd type of fairy bread from the faefolk students at their birthday party (Silver didn't let Lilia bake it, don't worry) and Lilia may sneakily use butter to grease the nose of a Canadian human on their special day! They're eager to attempt any traditions the human may have spoken of!
If you teach them the happy birthday song it will sound like some kinda fucked up cult is singing it. Just for funsies. All different voice types (glitching, echoey, rasping, floaty, etc.) singing a dissonant melody as they stumble through. A lot of them are earnest about it though, they're trying.
They're all so eager to try these new traditions and give their human friend a sense of familiarity - even if they don't get stuff 100% right I feel like they'd get an A for effort
Tumblr media
Now, as for Weirdcore traditions, I'm not actually 100% sure about how they may go about celebrating birthdays in their world - although chances are they'll have different traditions depending on the part of the world they're from...
Maybe there's a special type of fruit pie that's baked in the rose queendom for birthdays, which is supposed to predict how their luck will be in the following year. Depending on the colour of the jam inside the pie after it's cut, you can make a vague prediction about what your future will hold! It's pretty much impossible to control what colour the filling turns after baking, so you'll only know after it's cut!
I can't think of any more Weirdcore birthday traditions right now... I may try brainstorming for a bit and if I come up with something I'll make a post later!
