I want to start supporting my fellow indie authors more. As well, I think as a writer it's important to read alot as well. You learn alot from other writers. Maybe you're not very good at writing dialogue or making plot points connect. Seeing how others do it is very helpful. Seeing what you don't like is also very helpful. I think we need to support each other and lift each other as creators. So with that in mind, I've set aside $15/month to buy indie work. Every month I plan on buying a work from an indie author. Today’s #authorchallenge2020 is all about a literary blunder. I hate to say it but I have found some of these. The occasional left out word, occasional the the — doesn’t bother me too much. But a real blunder? Leaving out the important detail to keep a word count. The story behind this photo is pretty long and strange, but it IS writing relevant. In december 2020, @aniphine and I went om a road trip from LA to NYC and one of the places we stopped was Roswell, New Mexico. Now, I don't have the time to unpack all of the eccentricities of that place, but this picture sums it up fairly well. Despite hating the alien fad, they buy into it wholeheartedly in funny, and often vulgar, ways. How has this affected my writing? Its made me less ashamed to add the everyday weirdness of small towns to my stories. In fact, as I come from a small town myself, I think it's put me iff wroting about larger cities altogether. . . . FEBRUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 16 SPOILER! FEBRUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 9 Favorite WIP Book I’m Writing: My favorite series/book I’m writing right now is a fantasy series called The Atalanta Chronicles. The first book is called Hidden. FEBRUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 6 Least Favorite Villain I’ve Written: Again these least favorite questions.. lol luckily I think this is the last one for a while. So again as far as Villains, I think all of mine are beautifully cruel and wicked so as far as Villain Villains I don’t have a least favorite but! I do have a protagonist who had to pretend to be the villain and it hurt writing her so cruel. Captain Shea Lara, when she meets Jo. It’s manipulative, cruel, and she’s forcibly playing the bad guy, was not one of my favorite things to write especially since I could feel their chemistry trying to break through the villainous bravado. Shea remains the villain of Jo’s story I’d say for at least the first quarter, if not maybe more until the incursion happens and Shea is forced to choose what she truly wants.
