It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and you and your boyfriend, Heeseung, had decided to spend the day in, pampering yourselves with a skincare routine and watching a Disney movie marathon. Your bedroom was cozy, with soft blankets piled on top of your bed and a selection of your favorite snacks laid out on the nightstand beside your bed. Heeseung was already rummaging through the various skincare products you had brought out, a look of determination on his face.
"You sure you know what you're doing?" you teased, watching him examine a face mask with intense concentration.
He shot you a playful glare. "I have no idea what half of these things are, but I'm willing to learn. Besides, my skin could use some TLC."
You laughed, shaking your head. "Alright, skincare guru, let's start with a cleanser."
Heeseung fumbled with the bottle, accidentally squirting a bit too much product into his hand. "Shit, sorry, how much of this stuff am I supposed to use?"
"Just a small amount," you replied, stepping closer to help him. You took some of the excess cleanser from his hand and began to gently massage it onto his face. Heeseung closed his eyes, a contented smile spreading across his lips.
"This feels nice," he murmured. "I could get used to this."
"Don't get too comfortable," you warned, grinning. "We still have a whole routine to get through."
After cleansing, you moved on to toner, which Heeseung found surprisingly refreshing. He flinched a little at the cold sensation but quickly relaxed. Next came the serums and moisturizers, and Heeseung watched with wide eyes as you carefully applied each product to his skin.
"This is a lot of steps," he remarked. "How do you keep track of all this?"
"With my big brain, something you lack," you said with a shrug. "Plus, it's worth it for that glowing skin."
Heeseung let out a scoff, “Something I lack? Weren’t you the one who put a frozen burrito in the microwave, and when it didn’t heat up, you threw it away and tried heating up a different one?” he shot back.
You felt your face go red, “Shut the fuck up. You promised you wouldn’t bring that up.” You whined.
Heeseung chuckled, clearly enjoying your embarrassment. "Just saying, maybe your big brain isn't as big as you think."
"Whatever," you muttered, trying to hide your smile.
Heeseung leaned in, his face close to yours. "Am I glowing yet?"
You examined his face with exaggerated seriousness. "Hmm, not quite. But you're getting there."
He chuckled and gave you a quick peck on the lips. "Thanks for being my skincare expert."
The next part of your routine involved face masks. You handed Heeseung a bright green avocado mask and kept a calming lavender mask for yourself. Heeseung stared at the avocado mask with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
"Are you sure this is safe?" he asked, eyeing the bright green goo.
"Yes, it’s perfectly safe. Besides, it's fun," you reassured him. "Now, smear it on your face like this."
You demonstrated, applying the lavender mask evenly across your face. Heeseung followed suit, but a bit more clumsily, and soon you were both sitting on your bed with your faces covered in colorful masks.
"Wow, we look ridiculous," Heeseung said, catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror.
You couldn't help but burst into laughter. "We really do. But it's all part of the experience!"
"Speak for yourself," Heeseung teased. "I look like a healthy avocado smoothie. You look like a flower shop exploded on your face."
"Oh, shut up," you laughed. "You're just jealous because my mask is more luxurious."
"Luxurious? You mean it smells like a grandma's soap collection," he shot back, smirking.
"At least I won't look like a green monster when this comes off," you retorted.
"Hey, green monsters can be cute," he defended, trying to keep a straight face. "Just look at Shrek."
"Oh my god, did you just compare yourself to Shrek?" you asked, giggling uncontrollably.
"Only the best for you, my Fiona," he said with a mock bow, which made you laugh even harder.
Heeseung's laughter joined yours, and soon you were both laughing so hard your stomachs hurt. Heeseung clutched his side, gasping for breath. "I can't believe how silly we look."
Tears of laughter streamed down your face, mingling with the mask. "This is the best. I haven't laughed this much in ages."
"Me neither," Heeseung agreed, wiping away his own tears. "I guess this is what happens when you mix skincare with Disney movies."
Speaking of Disney movies, you decided it was time to start the marathon. You settled back onto your bed, carefully avoiding smearing your masks on the pillows. Heeseung grabbed the remote and scrolled through the options.
"What should we start with?" he asked.
"Beauty and the Beast," you suggested. "It's a classic."
Heeseung nodded and clicked play, and the familiar opening music filled the room. You sat in between his legs and snuggled up into him, resting the back of your head on his shoulder as the movie began. It didn't take long for the bickering to start, though.
"You know, Belle's kind of a nerd," Heeseung commented, a teasing tone in his voice.
You rolled your eyes. "She's intelligent and curious. That's what makes her awesome."
"Yeah, but she falls in love with a beast," he pointed out. "That's a little weird."
"It's called seeing beyond appearances," you retorted. "You could learn a thing or two from her."
Heeseung laughed and pulled you closer. "Okay, okay. Belle is great. Happy now?"
"Very," you said smugly, giving him a quick peck on his lips.
The movie continued, and the two of you got more and more invested, singing along to the songs, and making silly comments about the characters. When the iconic ballroom scene came on, Heeseung suddenly got off the bed and extended his hand to you.
"May I have this dance?" he asked, trying to keep a straight face.
You giggled and took his hand. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"
He grinned. "But you love me."
You couldn't argue with that. Heeseung twirled you around your bedroom, humming the tune of "Beauty and the Beast" as you danced together. It was silly and sweet, and you couldn't stop laughing.
When the movie ended, you both collapsed back onto your bed, slightly out of breath from your impromptu dance session. Heeseung turned to you, his eyes twinkling.
"Okay, what's next?" he asked, reaching for the remote again.
"How about The Lion King?" you suggested. "I haven't seen it in ages."
"Sure," he agreed. "But first, let's get these masks off before they permanently become part of our faces."
You both made your way to the bathroom, standing side by side in front of the mirror. Heeseung started peeling his mask off, wincing dramatically as if it were a Herculean task.
"Stop being such a baby," you teased, carefully removing your own mask.
Heeseung stuck his tongue out at you. "You try peeling avocado off your face and see how you like it."
You couldn't help but laugh. "It's just a face mask, Heeseung. Not a life-or-death situation."
Once you were both mask-free and had rinsed your faces, you applied a light moisturizer to finish off the routine. Heeseung watched you with a playful smirk as you gently massaged the moisturizer into his skin.
"You missed a spot," he said, pointing to his cheek.
You rolled your eyes and smoothed the moisturizer over the 'missed' spot. "There, happy?"
"Very," he said, leaning down to give you a soft, lingering kiss. "Thanks for taking care of my skin."
"Anytime," you replied, feeling a warm flutter in your chest from the kiss.
Back in your bedroom, you settled onto your bed once more, ready for the next movie. Heeseung grabbed the remote and started The Lion King, and you both snuggled up under the blankets.
This time, the bickering was about which character was the best.
"Simba is obviously the best," Heeseung declared. "He's the main character."
"Pfft, Timon and Pumbaa steal the show," you argued. "They're hilarious."
"Yeah, but Simba grows up to be a badass king," He countered.
You rolled your eyes playfully. "And Timon and Pumbaa teach him how to live life with no worries. 'Hakuna Matata,' remember?"
"Yeah, but did they save the Pride Lands? No, Simba did. So, he wins," Heeseung said smugly.
"Oh, please. Timon and Pumbaa are the real MVPs. They raised him and taught him how to survive," you shot back.
"Okay, fine. But what about Rafiki? He's the one who gets Simba to go back," Heeseung said, raising an eyebrow.
"Rafiki's cool, but he's more of a wise old mentor. Timon and Pumbaa are the heart and soul," you insisted.
Heeseung chuckled. "You just like them because they're funny."
"Exactly! They bring the fun," you grinned. "Once again, you could learn a thing or two from them."
Heeseung laughed and pulled you in for a kiss, his lips soft and warm against yours. "You're a pain in my ass, you know that?"
"But you love me," you replied, echoing his earlier words.
The kiss deepened, and you felt a rush of warmth and happiness. Heeseung's hand cupped your cheek, his thumb gently stroking your skin. When you finally pulled away, you were both smiling.
Heeseung smiled and said, "Alright, I'll admit, they are pretty funny. But Simba is still the best."
You sighed dramatically. "Fine, we'll agree to disagree."
As the movie continued, you both got more invested in the story, singing along to the songs and making silly comments about the characters. When Scar's song "Be Prepared" came on, Heeseung couldn't help but make a dramatic gesture, imitating Scar's villainous demeanor.
"Look at me, I'm the king of the hyenas," Heeseung said in a mock-serious tone.
You burst out laughing. "You could never be as evil as Scar. You're too much of a goofball."
He pretended to be offended. "Hey, I can be serious when I want to be."
"Sure, sure," you teased. "But let's be real, you'd probably end up befriending the hyenas instead."
Heeseung grinned. "True. They'd be my squad."
When the iconic "Hakuna Matata" scene came on, you both sang along at the top of your lungs, laughing and dancing around your bedroom. Heeseung grabbed your hands and twirled you around, and for a moment, you felt like carefree kids again.
After the song ended, you collapsed back onto your bed, slightly out of breath but grinning from ear to ear. Heeseung looked at you, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"You know, we should have our own 'Hakuna Matata' philosophy," he said. "No worries, right?"
"Absolutely," you agreed, leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek. "No worries as long as we're together."
Heeseung smiled and pulled you into him. As the movie continued, you both got more comfortable, with Heeseung's arm wrapped around you and your head resting on his chest. You watched the characters on screen, but your attention kept drifting back to Heeseung. His laughter, his silly comments, the way he kissed you – it all made you realize just how lucky you were to have him.
When the climactic battle scene came on, Heeseung couldn't resist making more dramatic gestures, pretending to be Simba facing off against Scar.
"See, Simba's the hero," he said, puffing out his chest.
"Okay, fine, you've got a point," you conceded, laughing at his antics. "But Timon and Pumbaa still helped save the day."
"Team effort," Heeseung agreed, pulling you closer for another kiss.
As the final scene played and Simba took his place as king, you both sighed contentedly. Heeseung looked at you with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Ready for round three?"
"What do you have in mind?" you asked, curious.
"How about Aladdin?" he suggested. "We can argue about which genie is better – Robin Williams or Will Smith."
"Oh, it's on," you said with a laugh.
As the opening scenes of Aladdin played, you couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude for moments like these. Lazy afternoons filled with laughter, bickering, and sweet kisses with Heeseung were the best kind of days. And you knew that no matter how many Disney movies you watched or skincare routines you tried, what mattered most was the love and joy you shared.
When you looked over at Heeseung, his eyes were already on you. He leaned in and gave you a kiss, his lips lingering on yours as if savoring every second. You felt a warmth spread through your entire body, and you knew that this moment, right here with Heeseung, was perfect.
He broke the kiss and whispered, "I love you."
You smiled, your heart swelling with happiness. "I love you too."
With Heeseung by your side, even the simplest moments were magical.

Flufftober 25 - Deadpool
Wade Wilson x reader
Tumblr media
"This must be your favorite day."
           "Because you're a freak."
"I think he understood. Unless he's stupid."
"Haha. You guys are sooooo funny. Halloween, my favourite day, because I wear a mask all the time, and under the mask I look like a moldy avocado. Nobody never said that to me. I think someone did, to Batman, so I'll take that as a compliment."
"You're not as handsome as Batman. With and without the mask."
           "Thank you, Yellow, you're adorable."
           "More than you, for sure."
Wade didn't know why he kept chatting with the boxes. They were never nice to him and they didn't deserve his attention.
Maybe it was because no one else wanted to talk to him. Despite his best efforts, people still ended up finding him weird, crazy, and dangerous. This was incomprehensible to Wade, who thought he was the best friend in the world.
Loyal, funny, ready to kill if asked, for money or a hug.
According to Spidey, Red, and Moon-Moon, the only heroes who agreed to spend some time with him, he didn't do it well. He was too intense and he had to stop threatening people, whether it was to protect the people he loved, or to ask the people he loved to love him back.
And all of that was when he had his mask on.
No normal person ever gave him a chance seeing his face, running off before they tried to get to know him.
It was a bit hurtful, but Wade could understand. He had already vomited and passed out after seeing himself in a mirror. At the same time.
So even if they said that to be mean, the boxes weren't wrong. His scorched pizza face could only come out on Halloween, because people thought it was a disguise then, and everyone praised him, saying he was really awful, which was so cool. Just for that day.
The other days it was just awful.
"We could enter a contest. We would win a prize."
"At the end, they will understand that it is not a costume and they will throw tomatoes at you while laughing, like Quasimodo."
           "Even Quasimodo is more handsome."
"He's not with the girl at the end."
"And Wade is single, I don't see where the problem is."
"I want tacos !" declared Wade, who was tired of listening to them, even though he knew they were going to follow him wherever he went. They were silent only when he shot himself in the head, and never for very long.
It was nice to go out without the mask for once. He decided to put on a cap anyway, to avoid attracting too much attention. If someone asked him, he was a sexy zombie, and a famous one, but incognito, so he didn't accept photos, thank you.
On his way, he passed an ice cream shop, and eating ice cream before the tacos seemed like a good idea. It all ended up in the stomach at the end, the order didn't really matter.
It was a little cold, so there weren't many people in the shop. Some stared at him, both frightened and fascinated, smiling shyly at him when he greeted them.
It was that stupid gesture, to wave his hand to embarrass strangers, that changed his life. Well, maybe not his life, but at least his day.
No, yes, his whole life.
Wade's hand passed very close to the girl who was patiently waiting her turn behind him, touching her hair, and they both jumped at the same time.
The poor innocent backed off, while he immediately apologized, explaining that he hadn't done it on purpose, and that she had no reason to be afraid or disgusted, he wasn't sick or contagious, just ugly.
"Well, I guess there's reason to be disgusted, I have a special face."
"Oh. No, sorry, I was surprised, I was thinking about the ice cream I was going to choose, I thought something was falling on me, like an insect."
"If I was an insect, I would be a dung beetle. Often screwed up, but very useful for the whole world."
The boxes told him he was ridiculous, but that made the young girl laugh. They then told him that she was making fun of him, while she added that he was funny, with a charming smile.
"My name is Y/N." she said, holding out her hand, as if she wanted him to shake it. He couldn't do that, she was way too pretty for him to touch.
"Wade Winston Wilson. Triple W. My dad was an alcoholic, he wanted to call me Georges, but eventually he gave the dog that name, and he loved him more than me."
           "I hope that's not true."
"The name story isn't. Shall I buy you ice cream?  To make up for almost slapping you. Really sorry, I'll never do that. I'll cut my hand off rather than hit a woman. I've fought women before, but they were bad guys, I mean bad girls, and I think it's pretty feminist of me not to discriminate, but I won't hit a helpless woman who didn't do anything wrong. I'm actually hired to hunt down guys who do this, and sometimes I even do it for free."
This made Y/N laugh again, and Wade considered that she hadn't understood that he was serious.
Not to scare her away, he didn't insist. She had accepted that he pay for her ice cream, if in exchange he agreed to stay a little with her to discuss.
"I thought you wanted tacos." White reminded him.
           "But now he wants Y/N."
"She's too good for him. Just like Esmeralda with Quasimodo."
           "She's much prettier than Esmeralda."
"What ?" Y/N asked looking at him in surprise.
"Nothing, I... I'm talking to myself, I was thinking of something else. So, not dressed up for Halloween yet ?"
"No, not yet. I'm not sure I'm going out tonight, the streets aren't safe, and I have a date."
Wade did his best to hide his disappointment, so very badly. This made the young woman laugh again.
"I mean, I have a date with my sofa, my television, a blanket and some chocolate."
"I think we have a date with the same person tonight. It's terrible, they're cheating on us, we should get revenge by going out together !"
           "Haha, yes, why not."
He had said that as a joke, really. It was one of the only non-serious things he had said since the moment he saw her sweet face and his heart almost stopped beating at so much beauty, and now Y/N had just accepted a go on a date with him.
           "No, she's joking too."
"Yes she didn't understand that we were really ugly."
"I'm really ugly." repeated Wade, pointing his fork at his face. "It's not a mask, I look like it all year round. And I'm really hired to punch bad guys, or worse."
"I know. You're Deadpool. You sometimes work with Spiderman and other heroes, I've seen you on the news."
           "... And it's okay ?"
"Yes." simply replied the angel who was eating her ice cream in front of him.
White yelled at him that they were probably dead again and dreaming while he was regenerating. Yellow whispered to him that it was a cruel joke, or that she was a Hydra spy who wanted to capture him to study his cells. Wade watched the rainbows and butterflies floating in the air, hearts in his eyes.
Obviously, Y/N didn't see the little hearts, taking his silence for a rejection.
"If I was too quick, I'm sorry, I... You're nice, and funny, and I had a great time with you. But if you're not interested, or you already have someone, or...'
"No ! I'm having a great time too. It's much better than tacos ! I wanted to eat tacos before stopping here."
"Really ? We... We could go have some together?  Then I don't know. We'll see. Do you have a number ?"
Convinced that she wouldn't call him, he gave her his personal number. The one he had given to his pals of the Team Red of the Moon, and that was it, because all the other people he knew didn't deserve to know this number, with its brilliant voicemail where he imitated Ryan Reynolds, only knowing his professional phone, where he was making farts noises.
Except that Y/N immediately sent him a message, while they were still together.
"Here. That way we can schedule another date."
           "Another date ?"
"Yeah... I mean, unless we don't consider today to be a date. Sorry, we'll schedule a first date."
"I don't know if White and Yellow are right, but I don't care."
           "What ?"
"Nothing. Shall we go and eat tacos ?"
Leaving way too much money for the waitress, Wade hopped happily alongside Y/N who was still smiling like he didn't look like an idiot with a ravaged face, and Wade thought to himself that Halloween was maybe actually his favourite day. And that eating ice cream before the meal was a great idea !

tips on how to change to a better person and be a new person both physically and mentally. i want to transform into a new person within a few months but don’t know how or where to start
Hi love! While everyone's lifestyles and goals are different, here are some general tips that can only make your quality of life better:
Eat A Predominately Whole Foods, Plant-Based Diet: Unprocessed non-animal foods like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, plant proteins (peas, beans, edamame, etc.), nuts and seeds, root vegetables, and healthy whole fats (like avocado) should make up around 80% of your diet. Stick to water, black coffee, and tea either plain or with lemon, too to avoid unnecessary sugars.
Get In Your Steps & Gentle Movement: Try to average around 7-10K steps a day to feel the benefits of walking. Incorporate a light strength training exercise (pilates, yoga, a YouTube body weight or free weight workout, etc.) into your routine 2-3 times a week for around 15 minutes each.
Read Daily: Commit to 10 pages of book reading and 30 minutes of article reading at different times of the day to learn, stay updated on the world and strengthen your cognitive function/ability to focus.
Take Time To Self-Reflect: Journal for at least 10 minutes a day. Either practice morning pages (free writing 3 pages in the morning) or choose a prompt or two from a therapist, shadow work journal, and a blog post. See my latest Femme Fatale journal prompts to reset for 2023 in this private membership post.
Carefully Curate Your Circle of Influence: Be mindful of who you spend time with, what topics you discuss, and what information you share with each of these members of your inner circle. You're always allowed to set boundaries around who you want to speak to outside of work (and children who are minors, of course, if you have them) and what information you want to disclose with them. Protect your peace at all costs.
Set Intentional Goals: Create well-defined goals with a clear action plan in the major areas of life (career, finances, health, relationships, personal development). Consistency, not intensity, is essential for goal achievement. So, make sure to do little tasks each day or week to ultimately achieve your desired results.
Keep Track of Your Tasks: Have a to-do list for professional tasks, items to buy for the house, errands to do, grocery lists, appointments to schedule, bill due dates, invoicing timelines, etc. Keep track of these items on your Notes App, Reminders, or within Google Calendar/Keep – depending on how time-sensitive a task might be.
Make Time For Self-Care: Block out an hour or so of your day to purely focus on yourself. This ritual can include your daily non-negotiables like a shower, skincare, reading, journaling, etc., and can include other indulgent activities like a face mask, exfoliating, doing your nails, watching your favorite TV show, etc. Prioritize yourself.
Create An "I Love" List: Stealing this tip from Jessica Garner (sex educator on TikTok) because I love it so much. Whenever you find an activity, meal, experience, song, item of clothing, etc, add it to your "I Love" list (on your notes app, etc.) to remind yourself of the things in life that bring you joy. This list can serve as a source of inspiration when you're feeling down and give you a built-in list of ideas to lift your spirits in some type of way on your more depressing or stressful days.
See the rest of my best habit ideas to implement for 2023 HERE.
Hope this helps xx

do you mind sharing the skin care products you use! 💗
yes omg! i haven’t done an updated routine in a while! right now it’s kind of a lot LOL so please bear with me! my current routine products + favorites (in no particular order) are:
- glow recipe plum plump hyaluronic acid serum: this is fine and i like it but you can find a much cheaper alternative that works just as well imo. i just love glow recipe’s packaging lol
- abib heartleaf calming toner: i use this in the mornings a lot and on the same days i’m using a retinoid or an exfoliant because i feel like it’s very soothing!
- cosRX BHA blackhead power liquid: i just started using this but i LOVE it. i have a lot of congestion on my nose and chin and i feel like this has helped a lot. really affordable too for how much you get because you don’t need to put a lot on your face!
- glow recipe watermelon glow niacinamide dew drops: i hate how much i love this serum because it is not cheap LOL but i love the way it feels and i can tell my skin loves it too. i’m on my second bottle!
- glow recipe avocado melt retinol eye cream: not everyone wants/needs an eye cream but i like to keep my under eyes super hydrated! this is also pricey lmao but it takes me a while to go through it so it’s worth it to me. has helped clear up a lot of the tiny bumps i had under my eyes.
- laneige lip sleeping mask: i genuinely am obsessed with this LMAO again not necessary but it makes my lips so shiny and i have the gummy bear flavor which is my fav. i have allergies that result in very dry/irritated lips and this helps immensely!
- good molecules gentle retinol cream: i just started using this too but i love it! i need a retinol in my routine honestly. it helps so much with texture and acne scarring. this is a really gentle formulation that’s great for beginners and it’s literally $8. i love it! i only use this 3x a week tops, and PM only.
- glow recipe watermelon glow PHA+BHA pore tight toner: obsessed is an understatement 🙃 this company has me in a chokehold lol. i love the way this feels on my skin and love how glowy i look after i use it. i don’t use this everyday either! only a few times a week.
- biore watery essence SPF: my #1 sunscreen. no white cast and it glides on really nicely without making me feel greasy afterwards. i ALWAYS WEAR SPF. using retinoids or other exfoliants without using SPF is a no go!!!! and this one is my fav so far.
- cosRX hyaluronic acid intensive cream: such a luxurious moisturizer!!! very hydrating. love this company. i love their snail mucin products too but i have an allergy to dust mites so i can’t use them unfortunately!! 💔💔💔 but if you aren’t allergic they’re great.

hi! do you have any recommendations for skin nourishment? saw the patrick bateman room on your twt❤️
hi nonnie well first of all thank you for describing my very normal room like That and secondly yes absolutely!! the harsh uk weather is my nemesis so i curated my routine to be as nourishing as possible. disclaimer that you definitely don’t need all of these products; i just happen to have super sensitive skin that is prone to dry patches and i also kind of love having a specific routine it’s very therapeutic #patrickbatemancorefr... so without further ado here are my recs 💌
1. clinique take the day off cleansing balm
i haven’t touched makeup wipes in about 7 years because they tended to irritate my skin especially around my eyes so i swapped to this cleansing balm and it’s amazing at removing even the most stubborn makeup efficiently without feeling harsh at all 💆‍♀️
2. ren skincare evercalm gentle cleansing milk
i used to think cleansers were supposed to make your face feel “squeaky clean” until i realised that just meant my skin was being stripped of its natural oils 😭 this is by far the most gentle cleanser i’ve found and i’ve tried a TON none of which can compare like this is srsly such a uniquely soothing product
3. origins drink up intensive overnight hydrating mask
this mask is my absolute fave 🌟 it’s marketed as an overnight mask so sometimes i’ll use it in place of my moisturiser but more often than not i just leave it on for a few hours while i study and it leaves my skin feeling so nice and rejuvenated yippee
4. hada labo gokujyun premium hyaluronic acid lotion
ok this is called a ‘lotion’ but it technically functions as a serum imo and it’s truly my ride or die product i can’t even tell you how many bottles i’ve gone through. it’s comprised of 7 kinds of hyaluronic acid so it is ultra-ultra-moisturising and it makes my skin feel so bouncy and hydrated yass 💧
5. kiehl’s creamy eye treatment with avocado
this is the only eye treatment i think actually made a significant difference out of all the ones i’ve used. it’s so creamy you just need the tiniest amount and it melts so nicely into my skin 🙌 i suffer from super dry undereyes and eyelids and this honest to god saved my life #kiehlsstan4eva
6. caudalie vineactive overnight detox oil
okay firstly i’m obsessed with how this face oil smells it’s like being transported to a spa but more importantly i love how it absorbs into my skin without feeling greasy in the slightest <- i didn’t even know that was possible with an oil. tbh idgaf about the anti-aging claims but this noticeably makes my skin feel sooo soft when i wake up in the morning so i highly recommend!
7. la roche-posay cicaplast baume b5
this is not marketed specifically as a moisturiser but i use it as one LOL. this is my ultimate holy grail i cannot emphasise enough how it totally transformed my skin esp. in the winter months it is so freaking nourishing and i will repurchase it forever and ever 🫶
and that wraps up my list!! honorary mentions go to the kiehl’s ultra facial cream which was my fav moisturiser before i discovered cicaplast and basically anything from the innisfree green tea range 🍵

FUN FACTS ABOUT HER
She loves candles and burns one every night before she goes to bed. She has to set a reminder to blow them out or she’s afraid she’s going to burn her place down by accident.
She’s never driven in her life and doesn’t have her license. She’s only really lived in cities that have transportation systems, so she’s never had the need to get one.
She enjoys working out and playing sports, but she won’t play tennis ever again after fracturing her wrist when she was fifteen.
She wears contacts because her eyesight is awful. She’s a candidate for Lasik eye surgery, but she’s afraid of being awake during the procedure and having something so close to her eyes so she’ll just deal with wearing contacts or glasses.
She loves having her nails done, and you’ll rarely ever see her without nail polish on her nails. long or short, gel or acrylic, round or square – it doesn’t matter to her as long as they look good.
Chloe is spontaneous. She’s fierce, and she’s outgoing. She’s the type of person to be best friends with someone after one conversation. It’s very easy for her to trust people, but if they lose it for some reason, it’s insanely hard to get back. She’s very reliable; when she says she’ll be there, she’ll be there.
While she loves social media, she’s a terrible texter – often either forgetting to text back or otherwise taking ages to do so. She doesn’t like emojis much but will use them sparingly. She hates chatspeak.
She cleans when she’s stressed; but, there isn’t ever much mess to take care of. She is very keen on keeping her place clean and tidy as best she can. Being so frequently busy, though, it does sometimes get (by her standards) out of control. It’s never for long, though, and she’s quick to put everything back in its place.
She collects mugs. These don’t correlate with her choice of design aesthetic for her kitchen and Brownstone, but she has a bit of an addiction to them. They range from classy to kitschy. She always got a mug on her birthday from her grandmother.
If she wasn’t into climate and sustainability, she’d definitely be a fashion designer. She loves sketching, sewing, and making garments. A lot of the clothes she wears are actually made by herself. She tries to not shop fast fashion and wants to wear clothes that are sustainable and eco-friendly. She wants to get back into fashion sometime and enroll in a class, but enjoys where she is at right now. Perhaps now that she’s in Merrock, she’ll see if the community college offers any fashion courses.
Chloe has a very extensive skincare routine; as someone who loves beauty and playing with makeup, she puts great stock in her appearance and strives to have well-behaving skin.
She loves wrapping gifts. She takes great care in making sure her gifts look nice, because the presentation is just as important as what’s inside. She keeps a small stock of wrapping papers, gift bags, ribbon, and tags so that she can mix and match appropriately depending on the person. while birthdays are her favorite thing to do gifts for, the process of wrapping presents is her favorite part of Christmas.
She drinks coffee in the mornings. She’ll drink it during the earlier hours of the day as it helps her wake up. In the afternoon and evening, she’ll make a cup of tea as it helps calms her and puts her in a more relaxed mood.
Her grandfather used to restore old gumball machines and he would let Chloe sit at his work bench and help. He would give her little jobs and let her use his tools and paints to make her own ‘creations’.
PLOTTING FOR CHLOE!
An approximate timeline for Chloe!
From birth to age 8: Alexandria, Virginia
From age 8 to 18: Berkeley, California
From 18 to 22: Ithaca, New York - attended Cornell University
From 22 to 31: Manhattan, New York
From 31 to present: Merrock, Maine
Chloe is fairly new to Merrock, having only been here for a few months because of a job opportunity that she couldn’t turn down. She’s originally from Berkeley although she’d been living in New York City for the past few years before moving. As a result, almost everyone she meets in the windy city would be fairly new to her. Chloe doesn’t have trouble making new friends. She seems fairly high-strung and tightly wound, but most of that is from the pressure she’s put herself related directly to making her family proud and feeling like she wasn’t worthy of her fiance who was from a far more influential family than she was. She has a deep-seated need to succeed and she can get too wrapped up in that.
Once you get past that initial opinion of her, she’s actually a very warm person. She’s very friendly, the type to offer a stranger a compliment in the grocery store for no reason and really enjoys the process of getting to know people. She likes collecting friends although she’s happiest with a group of tight-knit people she can spoil. She takes joy in putting a smile on the faces of the people she cares about and helping them solve any problems they may have. She has a long streak of rationality and she’s empathetic which makes her a very good person to have by your side in a crisis. And to be honest, she loves being the supportive shoulder.
On the other hand, she can be very rigid. She has very strong opinions of people and holds onto snap judgments made until proven otherwise. She can be very single-minded, especially when it comes to the things she feels she needs to do and she can stress herself out about it. She’d really benefit from meeting someone who can counter this and pull her out of her head when she gets too stressed out, although she wouldn’t turn down any type of support system at this point.
Her love life should be fairly open and closed. Chloe was engaged to Barry, a young lawyer currently studying to be a lawyer. She had been with him since graduate school and they were engaged for a little bit before they broke off their engagement. She still loves him (she thinks) but their relationship lacked passion, although she’s attributed that to them being in a long term relationship with each other and both of them trying to kick-start their careers. She’s been openly bisexual since her teen years, so she has experiences with all kinds of people, she doesn’t really have a preference, it’s more about vibing with the person. However, she’s been thinking about how she feels more like herself when she’s with women. She’s been questioning her sexuality and if the reason she broke it off with Barry was because she wanted someone he couldn’t be.
She’s comfortable with the idea of being single now and she's not looking for anything, but she is open to one night stands as long as she can remember their name.
WANTED PLOTS
TROUBLESOME TRIO -These three are always seen with at least one another. You can call them Charlie’s angels, Destiny’s Child, or Phoebe, Rachel, and Monica from Friends. Something that resembles the trio’s of The Bold Type and Someone Great.
OLD FRIEND - Someone from her past that she reconnects with in Merrock. Maybe they met in college or when she lived in New York City? Or maybe even in high school? Just someone she meets again and they have a past, whether romantic or not, would be very cute and much appreciated!
PARTY BUDDIES - Whenever there’s a night out for fun, they’re together tearing it up. - RYDER
MUSICAL PAL - Whatever the occasion, they’re kicking back and playing some music together. They share playlists and their favorite artists with each other. Plus, they always tag along to concerts with her! - DARRIUS
SELF-CARE FRIEND - They can text each other when they’re in need of a pick-me-up and just indulge in some serious self-care and pampering. - STELLY
MIDNIGHT HOOKUP - They barely know each other’s names and yet when the clock strikes twelve, they’re a text away from hooking up and ditching before dawn.
Other than those, I’m very much open to plotting and brainstorming!

How to Choose the Right Hair Care Products in UAE for Your Hair Type
Choosing the right hair care products is essential for maintaining the health and beauty of your hair, especially in the UAE's unique climate, where heat and humidity can take a toll on your strands. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to figure out which products are best suited for your specific hair type. Here’s a guide to help you choose the right hair care products in UAE for your hair type, ensuring your hair stays nourished, healthy, and strong.
1. Identifying Your Hair Type
Before diving into which products to use, it’s crucial to understand your hair type. Hair is typically categorized by texture, moisture levels, and thickness:
Straight Hair: Often looks shiny but may struggle with oiliness.
Wavy Hair: Has a natural texture but can be prone to frizz and dryness.
Curly Hair: Naturally voluminous but prone to tangles, frizz, and dryness.
Coily or Kinky Hair: Tight curls that are the driest and most fragile hair type.
2. For Straight Hair: Keep It Balanced
Straight hair tends to get oily faster because the natural oils from the scalp easily travel down the strands. You’ll want to look for lightweight products that add moisture without weighing your hair down.
Shampoo: Opt for a clarifying or volumizing shampoo to remove excess oil and prevent buildup.
Conditioner: Use a lightweight conditioner only on the ends of your hair to avoid adding too much moisture to the scalp.
Leave-In Products: Choose a light, oil-free serum or spray to maintain shine without greasiness.
A range of hair care products in UAE cater to those with straight hair, offering balancing formulas that provide moisture without making your hair look flat.
3. For Wavy Hair: Control Frizz and Add Definition
Wavy hair sits between straight and curly hair, requiring products that boost hydration without making it too heavy. The right balance of moisture will help define the waves while reducing frizz.
Shampoo: A moisturizing shampoo that adds hydration without weighing the hair down is key.
Conditioner: Look for conditioners with frizz control and lightweight hydration.
Styling Products: Use a curl-enhancing cream or mousse to define your waves and keep them soft.
Wavy hair can benefit from products with natural oils like argan or coconut, which help smooth the hair while adding definition.
4. For Curly Hair: Focus on Hydration and Definition
Curly hair requires extra moisture and care to maintain its shape and avoid frizz. You’ll need products that deeply hydrate and help define the curls without making them stiff or crunchy.
Shampoo: A sulfate-free, deeply moisturizing shampoo is ideal for curly hair, as sulfates can dry out the hair and strip away natural oils.
Conditioner: Use a rich, hydrating conditioner that helps detangle and nourish your curls.
Deep Conditioner or Mask: Incorporate a deep conditioning mask into your routine at least once a week to restore moisture and repair any damage.
Leave-In Conditioner: A leave-in conditioner with hydrating ingredients like shea butter or avocado oil can help keep your curls moisturized throughout the day.
Several brands offering hair care products in UAE have excellent lines specifically for curly hair, featuring natural oils and butters that are perfect for maintaining hydration.
5. For Coily/Kinky Hair: Emphasize Moisture and Protection
Coily or kinky hair is the most delicate hair type and requires intense moisture and protection. It’s prone to breakage and can become dry easily, so nourishing products are essential.
Shampoo: A hydrating, sulfate-free shampoo enriched with natural oils will help cleanse without stripping away essential moisture.
Conditioner: Use a rich, creamy conditioner packed with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, and castor oil.
Deep Conditioning Treatments: Regular deep conditioning treatments are a must to maintain softness and reduce breakage.
Oils: Coily hair can benefit from using oils like argan, jojoba, or castor oil to seal in moisture and protect the hair shaft.
Look for products that are specially formulated for coily hair textures, with heavy hydration and minimal chemical additives to avoid damage.
6. Special Considerations for the UAE Climate
In the UAE, high temperatures and low humidity can exacerbate hair dryness, especially for those with wavy, curly, or coily hair types. It’s essential to choose products that provide long-lasting hydration and protect the hair from environmental stressors like heat and UV rays.
Heat Protection: Whether you style your hair with heat tools or just deal with the UAE’s intense sun, using a heat protectant spray or serum is essential.
UV Protection: Some hair care products offer built-in UV protection, which can help prevent sun damage and color fading.
Anti-Frizz Products: Humidity can be a major challenge in the UAE, so look for anti-frizz serums or sprays that keep your hair smooth without weighing it down.

The Best Ingredients to Look for in a Mask for Dry Skin
Dry skin can be uncomfortable, tight, and prone to irritation, making it essential to choose skincare products that nourish and hydrate. One of the best ways to replenish moisture and boost skin health is through hydrating face masks. However, not all masks are created equal, and understanding the right ingredients is crucial to achieving the desired results. Here’s a breakdown of some of the best ingredients to look for in a natural face mask for dry skin.
1. Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a superstar ingredient when it comes to hydration. Naturally present in the skin, this molecule can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, making it an excellent humectant. When included in a face mask, hyaluronic acid helps draw moisture into the skin and lock it in. This ingredient is especially beneficial for people with dry skin as it provides immediate plumping and hydrating effects. It’s gentle and can be used frequently without irritating even the most sensitive skin types.
2. Glycerin
Another humectant to watch for is glycerin. Often found in skincare formulations for its moisture-retaining abilities, glycerin helps to draw water from the air and deeper layers of the skin to the surface, providing long-lasting hydration. Glycerin also creates a protective barrier on the skin that prevents moisture loss, a key factor in managing dry skin. It’s a common ingredient in many over-the-counter masks and can enhance skin softness and smoothness over time.
Tumblr media
3. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is famous for its soothing, healing, and hydrating properties. It's especially helpful for dry, irritated, or inflamed skin. In masks, aloe vera can provide immediate relief from redness or tightness caused by dryness. Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, aloe vera not only hydrates but also helps repair the skin barrier, which is often compromised in those with dry skin. Aloe vera's lightweight texture ensures that hydration is delivered without clogging pores.
4. Shea Butter
Shea butter is a deeply nourishing ingredient derived from the nuts of the shea tree. It’s rich in fatty acids and vitamins like A and E, which are essential for healthy skin. In masks, shea butter serves as an excellent emollient, helping to soften and smooth dry patches. Its rich texture provides an extra layer of protection for the skin by reinforcing the natural lipid barrier. As a result, shea butter is particularly useful in combating chronic dryness, eczema, or even dry patches caused by cold weather.
5. Avocado Oil
Rich in healthy fats, avocado oil is an excellent emollient that provides intense moisture to dry skin. It penetrates deeply into the skin’s layers to nourish and hydrate from within. Avocado oil is packed with vitamins like C, D, and E, all of which promote skin elasticity and repair damaged cells. Using a mask infused with avocado oil can help restore the skin’s natural moisture levels, leaving it soft, supple, and glowing. This ingredient also works well for those with sensitive skin, as it helps soothe irritation while providing hydration.
6. Ceramides
Ceramides are lipids (fats) that make up about 50% of the skin’s outer layer. They play a crucial role in maintaining the skin’s barrier function, which is often weakened in dry skin types. Masks containing ceramides help replenish this essential component, strengthening the skin barrier and preventing moisture loss. By restoring ceramides, masks can offer long-term benefits, helping the skin retain hydration and stay protected against environmental stressors like pollution and harsh weather.
7. Honey
Honey is a natural humectant and antioxidant that provides multiple benefits to dry skin. It helps attract and retain moisture while providing a soothing effect, making it perfect for masks designed to hydrate and heal. Honey’s antimicrobial properties also protect the skin from infections, which can be a concern for those with cracked or extremely dry skin. It also provides a gentle exfoliation effect, helping to slough off dead skin cells and promote a smoother, more radiant complexion.
8. Colloidal Oatmeal
Colloidal oatmeal is another powerful ingredient for treating dry and irritated skin. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, oatmeal helps calm redness and irritation while also delivering much-needed moisture. When included in a face mask, colloidal oatmeal acts as a soothing agent, helping to alleviate itchiness and discomfort often associated with dry skin conditions like eczema. It’s a gentle ingredient that can be used regularly without causing irritation.
9. Squalane
Squalane is a lightweight, non-greasy oil that mimics the skin’s natural sebum. It’s an excellent emollient that hydrates and softens dry skin without clogging pores. Squalane is highly effective in reinforcing the skin’s moisture barrier, making it an ideal ingredient for dry and sensitive skin. Face masks containing squalane deliver deep hydration, smooth out rough textures, and leave the skin feeling nourished and protected.
Conclusion
Choosing the right ingredients in a mask is key to effectively treating dry skin. Hydrating powerhouses like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and squalane ensure that moisture is drawn into and retained by the skin. Nourishing emollients such as shea butter, avocado oil, and honey help to reinforce the skin’s protective barrier, while soothing agents like aloe vera and colloidal oatmeal provide relief from irritation. By incorporating these ingredients into your skincare routine, you can maintain a soft, hydrated, and healthy complexion all year round.

How to Protect Your Hair in Dubai's Climate
Tumblr media
Living in a sun-soaked city like Dubai is a dream come true for many, but it can be a nightmare for your hair. The sun and heat can be relentless, leading to dryness, hair fall, and damage that requires extra care. This post aims to guide Dubai residents, expats, and visitors on how to shield their hair from these harsh conditions while maintaining vibrant hair health. Get ready to discover some insider tips that go beyond the typical advice, ensuring your locks remain luscious, no matter the weather.
Understanding Your Hair Type in the Dubai Climate
Dubai's climate doesn't discriminate—it affects all hair types. Whether you have curly, straight, coily, or wavy hair, understanding your specific hair type is key to maintaining healthy hair in this environment. Each hair type reacts differently to Dubai's heat and humidity. Curly and coily hair types, for instance, may become frizzy, while fine hair might fall flat.
To make the most of your hair care routine, it's essential to tailor it to your hair type. If you're unsure about your hair type, our Understanding Different Hair Types page offers a comprehensive guide to help you identify and cater to your unique needs.
The Impact of Dubai's Weather on Hair Health
Dubai's weather is characterized by intense sunlight, high temperatures, and low humidity, all of which can damage the hair. Prolonged sun exposure can weaken hair follicles, leading to increased hair loss and hair fall. The UV rays can strip natural oils from your hair, leaving it dry and brittle.
In this environment, you need to be proactive in protecting your hair from damage. While hats and scarves can shield your hair from direct sun exposure, incorporating products with UV protection into your routine is also beneficial. Explore our Home Care Bundle for products specifically designed to nourish and protect hair against harsh weather conditions.
Conditioning is Key
Conditioning is crucial for maintaining moisture and preventing dryness, especially in Dubai's arid climate. A good conditioner will help seal in moisture and provide a protective barrier against environmental aggressors. Opt for a deep conditioner at least once a week to give your hair an extra hydration boost.
When choosing a conditioner, look for products that contain ingredients like coconut oil, which is renowned for its moisturizing properties. Our Home Care Bundle features a Deep Conditioner that hydrates and nourishes your hair from root to tip.
Using Natural Oils for Added Protection
Natural oils are a fantastic way to add an extra layer of protection to your hair. Oils such as argan oil and coconut oil not only condition your hair but also help protect it from the sun's rays. Applying a few drops to your hair before stepping out can act as a natural shield, reducing the risk of damage.
Consider incorporating vegan and organic oils into your routine. These oils are free from harsh chemicals and are kind to both your hair and the environment. At ISON Beauty, we pride ourselves on using clean, vegan formulations free from parabens, silicones, and alcohol, ensuring that your hair receives only the best care.
Hair Masks for Intense Hydration
Hair masks are an excellent way to provide intense hydration and nourishment. They penetrate deeper than regular conditioners, addressing dryness and damage more effectively. Using a hair mask once a week can significantly improve your hair's texture and health.
Choose hair masks formulated with ingredients known for their hydrating properties, such as shea butter and avocado oil. These ingredients help restore moisture, leaving your hair soft and manageable. For tailored tips on hair masks and other treatments, check out our Tips for Taking Care of Your Hair page.
Taming Frizz with the Right Products
Frizz is a common issue in humid cities like Dubai. It can make your hair appear unkempt and difficult to manage. However, with the right products, you can tame frizz and keep your hair looking sleek and polished.
Opt for anti-frizz serums or creams that smooth the hair cuticle and lock in moisture. These products not only minimize frizz but also add shine and softness to your hair. For a customized approach to combatting frizz, consider consulting with our experts at ISON Beauty.
Protecting Hair While Swimming
Swimming is a popular pastime in Dubai, but it can wreak havoc on your hair. Chlorine and saltwater can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle. To protect your hair, apply a leave-in conditioner or oil before swimming to create a barrier against these harsh elements.
Rinsing your hair with fresh water immediately after swimming can also help minimize damage. For more tips on how to maintain healthy hair while swimming, our Home Care Bundle includes products designed to care for and protect your hair in aquatic environments.
Styling with Care to Prevent Damage
Styling your hair can enhance your overall look, but it's important to do so with care to prevent damage. Heat styling tools can exacerbate dryness, so consider reducing their use or opting for heat-free styles whenever possible.
When using heat styling tools, always apply a heat protectant to shield your hair from high temperatures. Our products, enriched with biomimetic molecules, offer protection while promoting healthy hair growth and repair.
Addressing Hair Loss Concerns
Hair loss is a concern for many people living in Dubai, but it's important to remember that lifestyle and environmental factors can play a significant role. Stress, diet, and exposure to extreme weather can contribute to hair loss.
To address hair loss, focus on maintaining a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, particularly those that support hair health. Supplements like biotin and omega-3 fatty acids can promote hair growth and strengthen hair follicles.
The Importance of Regular Trims
Regular trims are essential for maintaining healthy hair, especially in environments that promote dryness and damage. Trimming split ends prevents them from traveling up the hair shaft, which can result in breakage and a dull appearance.
Visiting a professional stylist every 6-8 weeks for a trim can keep your hair looking vibrant and healthy. Consider exploring different styles that complement your hair type and the local climate.
Building a Hair Care Routine
Creating a consistent hair care routine is key to maintaining hair health in Dubai. Tailor your routine to suit your hair type and lifestyle, incorporating products that address specific concerns like dryness, frizz, and damage.
Exploring Vegan Hair Care Options
Vegan hair care products are a great choice for those seeking cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly options. These products are free from animal-derived ingredients and often contain natural, plant-based alternatives that are just as effective.
At ISON Beauty, we harness the power of nature to deliver exceptional results for your hair. Our commitment to clean beauty ensures that you can care for your hair while caring for the planet.
Conclusion
Living in Dubai comes with its unique challenges, especially when it comes to hair care. However, with the right knowledge and products, you can protect your hair from the harsh climate and maintain its health and beauty. From understanding your hair type to incorporating natural oils and vegan products, there are countless ways to nurture your hair in this vibrant city. Consider exploring our range of ISON Beauty products designed to meet the needs of Dubai's residents, and take the first step towards healthier, happier hair.

Natural Remedies for Stronger, Shinier Hair: PrudentRx FAQ
Achieving stronger, shinier hair is a common goal for many, but it doesn’t always require expensive products or salon treatments. Natural remedies offer a cost-effective and gentle way to enhance the health and appearance of your hair. The PrudentRx FAQ provides valuable insights and tips on how to incorporate these natural solutions into your hair care routine. In this blog, we’ll explore some of the best natural remedies for stronger, shinier hair, focusing on the guidance available through the PrudentRx FAQ.
Tumblr media
The Importance of Natural Hair Care
Using natural remedies for hair care has numerous benefits. They are often free of harsh chemicals that can damage your hair and scalp, and they provide essential nutrients that support overall hair health. Natural ingredients like oils, herbs, and everyday kitchen staples can nourish your hair, making it stronger, shinier, and more resilient.
PrudentRx Tip: According to the PrudentRx FAQ, consistency is key when using natural remedies. Regular application over time leads to the best results.
1. Coconut Oil for Deep Conditioning
Coconut oil is a powerhouse ingredient in hair care, known for its deep conditioning properties. Rich in fatty acids, it penetrates the hair shaft, providing intense moisture and preventing protein loss. This makes your hair stronger, reduces breakage, and adds a natural shine.
How to Use: Warm a few tablespoons of coconut oil until it’s melted. Apply it evenly from the roots to the ends of your hair, then cover your hair with a shower cap. After about 30 minutes, leave it on and rinse it off with lukewarm water.
PrudentRx Tip: The PrudentRx FAQ suggests using coconut oil as a pre-wash treatment once or twice a week for optimal results.
2. Aloe Vera for Shine and Strength
Aloe vera is another excellent natural remedy for hair care. It contains enzymes that repair dead skin cells on the scalp, promoting hair growth and preventing dandruff. Aloe vera also adds a natural shine to your hair and makes it smoother.
How to Use: Extract the gel from an aloe vera leaf and apply it directly to your scalp and hair. Leave it on for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

Anti-Aging Solutions for Dry Skin: Revitalize and Rejuvenate
As we age, maintaining youthful skin becomes increasingly challenging, especially if you have dry skin. Dry skin can make fine lines and wrinkles more noticeable, leading to a quest for effective anti-aging solutions. If you're struggling with dry skin and want to combat its aging effects, this comprehensive guide will help you understand and implement strategies to achieve a radiant, youthful complexion.

Understanding Dry Skin and Aging
Dry skin often results from insufficient moisture and natural oils, which become even scarcer with age. As we grow older, the skin's ability to retain moisture decreases due to reduced sebaceous gland activity and slower cell turnover. This can lead to a loss of elasticity, increased roughness, and the deepening of wrinkles. Addressing these issues requires a targeted approach to hydrating and nourishing the skin.
Essential Hydrating Ingredients
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a powerhouse ingredient known for its exceptional hydrating properties. It acts as a humectant, drawing moisture from the environment into the skin. By using products that contain hyaluronic acid, you can plump up the skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines. Look for serums or moisturizers with high concentrations of hyaluronic acid to achieve the best results.
Glycerin
Glycerin is another effective humectant that attracts water to the skin’s surface. It helps maintain hydration and can be found in many anti-aging and moisturizing products. Regular use of glycerin-enriched products can help keep your skin hydrated and smooth.
Ceramides
Ceramides are lipids that play a crucial role in restoring and maintaining the skin's natural barrier. They help prevent moisture loss and protect the skin from external irritants. Products rich in ceramides can significantly improve the texture and hydration of dry skin.
Building a Moisturizing Routine
Layering Products
To maximize hydration, consider layering your skincare products. Start with a hydrating serum, followed by a rich moisturizer. This method helps lock in moisture and provides a more effective barrier against dryness. For best results, apply these products while your skin is still damp.
Overnight Masks
Overnight masks are excellent for providing deep, intensive hydration. These masks work while you sleep, allowing active ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin. Look for masks containing ingredients like shea butter, squalane, or avocado oil, which are known for their nourishing properties.
Sun Protection
Sun exposure is a major factor in skin aging and can exacerbate dryness. Daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is essential to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. Choose sunscreens with added moisturizing ingredients to benefit your dry skin further.
Gentle Cleansing
Harsh cleansers can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to increased dryness. Opt for a gentle, hydrating cleanser that is free from sulfates and alcohol. Cream-based or oil-based cleansers are particularly beneficial for dry skin types, as they help maintain moisture while cleansing.
Exfoliation with Care
Exfoliation is important for removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover, but it’s crucial to do it gently. Over-exfoliating can irritate and dry out the skin. Use mild exfoliants with ingredients like lactic acid, which also offers moisturizing benefits. Limit exfoliation to once or twice a week to avoid compromising the skin's natural barrier.
Diet and Hydration
What you eat can significantly impact your skin’s health. A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins can support skin hydration and elasticity. Incorporate foods like fatty fish, nuts, seeds, and colorful fruits and vegetables into your diet. Additionally, drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
Lifestyle Adjustments
Use a Humidifier Adding moisture to the air can help prevent your skin from becoming excessively dry, especially in arid climates or during winter. A humidifier in your home can maintain a comfortable level of humidity, benefiting your skin’s hydration.
Avoid Hot Showers Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, exacerbating dryness. Opt for lukewarm water when washing your face and body to help maintain moisture levels.
Consultation with a Dermatologist
For personalized advice and treatment options, consider consulting a dermatologist. They can recommend specific products or procedures tailored to your skin’s unique needs. Whether it’s prescription treatments or professional procedures, a dermatologist can provide valuable insights into managing and improving dry, aging skin.
Advanced Solutions for Dry Skin and Aging
Addressing the challenges of aging and dry skin involves a multifaceted approach that combines proper skincare, lifestyle adjustments, and dietary changes. By incorporating hydrating ingredients, practicing gentle skincare routines, and making thoughtful lifestyle choices, you can enhance the appearance and health of your skin. Remember, consistency is key, and with the right approach, you can maintain a youthful, radiant complexion despite the challenges of dry skin.
