exactly what it says on the tin title! after watching @skittlesplays manually resize hundreds of recolor files on stream (and trying to do it myself...), i decided that the only solution when it comes to editing textures for ts2 was... photoshop! here are 9 photoshop actions geared towards 4t2 conversions, but hey, maybe you could use them for other stuff too 💖

i made these for personal use and have been using them on and off for the last few months, so i suppose you could say they've been sufficiently tested... the actions included aren't final though, i might go back and add a few more as my areas of expertise expand 😅 more info and instructions under the cut, long post warning! 👇🏽

How to Install These Actions

open up photoshop and click on the big 'play' button in the corner. that's the actions tab. then click on the little down arrow and 4 lines in the corner of that subwindow.

select 'load actions' from the list, and navigate to wherever you've installed my .atn file! then that's it, you've got them installed, easy-peasy.

How to Use These Actions (1 at a Time)

open up the texture that you want to edit in photoshop; for this example i'm using a dress i'm 4t2'ing from the throwback fit kit. now it's time to decide which action you're gonna use to make this texture compatible with ts2!

as the texture is 1024 x 2048, i'm gonna use the 'texture clothing: 1024x2048 to 1024x1024' action to downsize it.

ta-da! now it's a reasonable size!

How to Use These Actions (Dozens at a Time)

now for what this set was really made for: editing a ton of textures at a time! just go to file -> automate -> batch...

and navigate to the textures you'd like to batch-edit. here's a few things you should probably keep in mind: - checking 'include all subfolders' will edit ALL the textures from that filepath onwards. - if you set your destination as 'save and close' as pictured, all your files will be autosaved after the action has been run. - so if you don't want to live on the edge, like me, and are afraid of running the wrong action, just open up one of the files you're batch-editing and check which action should be run on it before you do the other files.

and behold! all of my textures have been cut down, and a bunch of my time saved 😎

Examples of Stuff Each Action Can Be Used For

in case you were curious! the first two actions, i mainly use for objects. a lot of ts4 cc creators have their texture sizes set to 2048x2048 or even more, which is way more than (my) ts2 can normally handle. i mean, that much for a candle? geez! so these two actions are used to cut down those textures and not kill your graphics cards.

these are for cas stuff, like clothing, hairs, and accessories. alpha creators tend to have larger texture sizes, but ea's are almost always a cool 1024x2048. just make sure you check before you run the actions!

trim is... i honestly can't remember the last time i used trim, just... if you need it, it's there

the last two actions are for floors and walls! floors are set to autosave as .bmp; walls are up to you. the texture sizes are made to match homecrafter's.

and... that's about it! lol. i know this isn't normally what i post, but i figured that since a lot more people are getting into 4t2 converting recently, these actions might help y'all.

when everyone gets back to the boat she tried to unsuspectingly scope you out (tried because she was actually frantically searching for someone and wouldn’t say who as everyone panicked-) and as soon as she saw you she sighed in relief! But soon after, she started blushing and she felt a warm fuzzy feeling!

it was such a joyous feeling..! She couldn’t believe she was feeling such intense emotions at your presence alone!

WE ARE FINALLY BACK Y'ALL WITH SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 (or episode 26) of the Spy X Family anime!! 😆

AND WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE IT WAS!! 😆 I'm so happy to finally see the date chapter (or Extra Mission 2) animated after all this time, it was totally worth the wait...!! 😁 I mean, everyone finally got to see Agent Anya in action!! 😎

I'm so glad that CloverWorks and WIT STUDIOS decided to save this chapter and adapt it for season 2's first episode because it's definitely the perfect place to start things back up...!! 😊

I could probably gush about how good this episode is all day, but I don't always have that kind of time, so on to the difference, changes and additions that I noticed...!! 😁

There was quite a few awesome additions, but my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE has to THIS:

You see, when Extra Mission 2 originally released, Bond was not introduced or apart of the family yet, so fact that they added a scene in the anime with him makes me SO HAPPY!! 😄 (Even if it was just a small scene...!! 😊)

Some other additions include a visual of all of Loid's date plans coming together and then falling apart...:

As well as adding Franky and Anya to the different locations in the date montage!! 😁

And speaking of the date montage, the only location that was cut from it in the anime was the bookstore:

Another small difference that I noticed was that Anya's trench coat didn't have the lines on them like in the manga:

But, I guess that one doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things...! 😅 I just like showing the differences that I can remember off the top of my head to anyone who might be curious about it...!! 😁

Lastly, I don't think this is a change per se, but in the manga, the explosion of Anya's peanut bomb looked a lot more... DEADLY, in my opinion...!!: 😵

But anyway, the was episode 26 of the anime!! Next episode has the scene I've been waiting for to be adapted, so I hope it is done amazingly...!! 😏

I was just wondering if you have a recommended reading order/place to start? i want to get a good understanding of the storylines but i also wanna focus on dick grayson bc ive just been drawn to him the most so far, also on the batfam in general. Im having a hard time figuring out where to start haha

Hi, welcome and I'm happy you've been enjoying my posts ❤️ Maybe you've seen my three reading lists (pre-Flashpoint, New 52 and the current run) but decided there's too many old comics to hunt down? Perfectly understandable 😎

I guess there are as many possible starting points as there are Dick Grayson fans to give recommendations. Personally, I'm fond of the New Teen Titans from the 1980s. Read with modern eyes, they're not flawless, but it's still the start of the modern, growing-up version of Dick Grayson. The book will eventually decline in quality, but there's still a lot of comics to enjoy.

For older stories with Dick as Robin, DC has published two collected editions with stories from the 60s and 70s. They're partly the same comics in both volumes. I like them, and if you’re curious about this period you’ll be spared the job of looking through many, many floppies for the occasional Robin story.

If you're looking for something considerably shorter, there’s also The Gauntlet (Dick’s field test, a great one-shot) and Robin Year One, which I'm sorry to say I don't love, and Teen Titans Year One, which is a good short and modern retelling of vol 1 of the Teen Titans.

If you look at current comics, it's no secret I think Tom Taylor’s run is pretty dull, but a lot of people love it. That's one starting point, but I'd rather recommend to start reading volume 4 from the start. The book has had its ups and downs (feel free to skip the years before Taylor started writing, when Dick is not-Dick) but some of the pre-Taylor stories are very good.

But - the best current books with Dick are no doubt Batman Superman World’s Finest, and the spin-off six issue WF Teen Titans. Dick is not the main character in WF, and he's not yet Nightwing, and it’s still superior .

Barcelona: absolutely beautiful, but I am genuinely confused as to why he’s got an Italian lyric in a song about a Spanish city. So confused, in fact, that I googled! If what I found is correct, that makes this song even more poignant and meaningful. It is speculated that the Italian comes from Verdi’s opera Macbeth. Makes much more sense now.

Marginalia #59: this reminds me of Olivier Messiaen. He was famous for using bird call as inspiration, even transcribing bird calls and writing them into his compositions.

Chant: I can kinda see how this is like a chant. It’s not got a defined meter or beat, and it centers around one predominant tone. Interesting!

Copenhagen One: super atmospheric - perfect for sleepy time. It reminds me of something in particular, but I can’t think of what. Could certainly be used as film score.

I've always seen people either identify more with Crowley or more with Aziraphale. Even going as far as cosplaying as them (WITH THEIR BEST FRIENDS/SIGNIFICANT OTHERS HONESTLY SO JEALOUS SO CUTE 🥺)

I wanted to figure out who I identified with most. I thought honestly Crowley, because I like his style and relate so hard with his goofiness. But it didn't feel right in other aspects. Then I thought I must relate more with Aziraphale, because of his hobbies and his personality. But once again it didn't feel entirely right in other aspects.

Nope.

It's both.

I am a mash of both and it's honestly hilarious

It got proven when I realized the way I dress. Let me give you a visual

I am wearing a tartan/flannel pattern pants, navy blue and pink. With a stripped turtleneck sweater, black with pink stripes. Tied all up with nice dress shoes.

New for $10+ Patrons: Livestreaming Randomly Generated Fiction

I’m reeeeeeally excited about this one.

As I mentioned earlier this month, the big new perk for $10 and $25 patrons will be access to an upcoming monthly livestream where you can watch and participate in the process of creating a brand-new short story from scratch.

Way back in March 2019, I started playing around with the idea of randomly generated fiction. (Psst! Free short horror story at that link, btw!) Short version: I have a bunch of dice with pictures on them. I roll five dice and write down what the pictures are. Then I start spitballing ideas based on those pictures. Then I craft a brief five-line outline (I’ve always had a thing for writing in fives, apparently). Then I write the story!

Well, at the very least, I make a damned good try at writing the story. (If you go through my Rgen tag, only about half of the 11 stories are anything close to finished.) Sometimes life happens! And sometimes an idea just isn’t salvageable. But it’s a really useful exercise and highly entertaining to watch when I’m in the idea-ing process, because at that early stage, it’s basically improv: I’ve got the materials, and I have to use them.

Basically Whose Line Is It Anyway but with writing. And more horror.

So if you’re one of the very kind and generous people who have found it within their hearts and wallets to pledge at or above the $10 League of Extraordinary Gentlepersons level (god, I sound like a PBS pledge drive coordinator), you’ll be able to tune in once a month and:

See me come up with story elements! I’ll be doing this a number of ways: using Story Dice, random title generators, map generators, prompt journals, and prompts from patrons!

Prompt me for a story yourself! That’s right, force me to write what you’ve always wanted! (Within reason.) You’re paying my salary, after all.

Watch my fiction creation process in action, through such thrilling mediums as: Scrivener! Scapple! Visio! And frantic Google searches to make sure I’m remembering bizarre facts correctly!

Point and laugh at me for 2-3 hours while I tear my hair out and try to come up with an idea that’s at least vaguely compelling!

AND SO MUCH MORE!!!1!

…Okay, not that much more, but in addition to the monthly streams, I’ll probably do random “This is how I use X tool for story creation/editing/etc.” How I use Microsoft Visio to create fictional family trees, for example (a large part of how I developed The Lion’s Paw, incidentally).

16. Is there a commonly held misconception about one of your stories that you’d like to correct for the masses? (I know of one and thought you might want an excuse to say it. 😎)

17. What does your editing process look like?

16. So, I think I actually may have touched on this answering number 20 (at least if I'm thinking of the same conversation that you are about Han's motivations in Purpose of Heritage thus far)? And, aside from that, I don't think there have been many widely-held misconceptions -- though there have definitely been different responses to certain things than I expected (like, more than one person saw Reconstitution as a bit of a downer and that was...the exact opposite of my intent with that story...but we all bring our own experiences to the stories we read, so I'm not going to say their reading is wrong per se, just that I intended for the ending of that rather melancholy fic to have a hopeful slant to it, even in the midst of life's imperfections).

Oh! Actually, I though of another one: there are moments in Purpose of Heritage specifically where Leia's straight-up wrong. Like, she is our heroine, our main character, our beloved space princes, but she's also 19/20/21 years old and traumatized and very specifically not dealing with said trauma in healthy ways at least 50% of the time (her eschewing therapy repeatedly is not supposed to be viewed as a super-great alternative to, you know, going to therapy), and there have been moments that people have clocked as Leia being a badass -- and they aren't wrong -- but I also see them as Leia's cool, together facade cracking in a way that isn't good technically.

Like, we love Leia, so the scene at the shooting range where she uses Varner Coy's blaster to shoot a line of bullseyes does feel badass and empowering and a little cathartic because that guy has been a jerk, but it's also Leia losing her cool entirely and giving into an impulsivity that I don't see as a good thing for someone in leadership to do. I didn't stick immediate consequences in there because I'm not writing an after-school special, but...just because Leia doesn't always have negative consequences for a thing doesn't mean that I included it with the intent that it was supposed to be seen as totally awesome, full-stop. Sometimes it's partially awesome, and partially a big red flag. And maybe I should be more obvious about this; I don't know. I just am not writing a morality tale exactly, so I don't want to steer the narrative into an area that makes it feel clunky or preachy.

17. For normal-length things like one-shots or Collateral, a multichapter with chapters that are a sane length (4K-6K words): I write the thing, I read the thing and edit as I read. I may or may not edit while I write; it depends on how long it is, how long it takes me to write, if any parts are giving me issues. (Like, if I get really, really stuck, I'll start on a fresh document and copy/paste different sentences and paragraphs until I can get back into a good rhythm, and in the midst of all of that, editing happens as well). I basically read and edit things several times until I'm either 1. Entirely happy with it (rare) or 2. Tired of looking at it and no longer debating about changing anything (more common).

For Purpose of Heritage, I did an unhinged and probably short-sighted thing where I wrote what was originally two chapters, decided I preferred them together, and combined them, setting a precedent for myself to write chapters that are 8K-10K words long (and that is legitimately where I've felt each chapter has a natural stopping point -- like, I'm not padding stuff to get to a certain word count. Most of the chapters, I suppose, could be split in half, but we're so far beyond that at this point, I'm just resigned to writing giant-ass chapters until this project is complete). I used to reread everything every time I set out to write a new chapter to try to ensure I didn't go off-the-rails tonally, but when that became too cumbersome, I think you were the one that mentioned having your phone read what you'd written aloud, and I use that not just to review past chapters, but also to edit (so, thank you for that suggestion if that was you, DP!). It helps me identify clunky wording and sometimes straight-up inconsistencies.

So, I usually write and edit as I write, then reread the whole chapter and edit, have my phone read it and mentally dogear what needs to be looked at and edit those pieces when I can, and then read it another time and occasionally have a beta reader (thanks for the times you've helped with this, by the way!) assure me that I haven't gone off the rails entirely if I keep worrying about one particular aspect, edit again with any beta reader suggestions in mind, and finally publish when I'm either as pleased as I'm going to be with it or I can't bring myself to read it again. I do usually try to make sure there is at least a night where I ignore the chapter entirely before doing one final editing pass-through before I post. Giving my brain a chance to not think about it helps me catch errors I missed on earlier read-throughs, and also usually helps me realize that I haven't, in fact, written a pile of garbage.
