you drag jude to take a nap with you in his backyard. he likes it more than he can admit.
word count : 700+
watch it : pure fluff, mildly cranky whining jude, still loves you any way
enjoy <33
—--
"still think this is a good idea ?" jude sighs, closing the back door with his foot and dragging the blankets behind him.
when you said you wanted to relax and enjoy the sun he was thinking of the pool, maybe even a quick flight to the nearest nice beach. going to a park, hell even just tan. nowhere in his mind did he think you wanted to sunbathe and take naps in his backyard. yet here the both of you are. bellies full from lunch (thank you to his mother for the lovely meal), warm from the sun. not half bad actually. he just likes being dramatic.
he's far too shy to say it outloud, contrary to popular belief, but any time spent with you is good time. no matter what you're doing. if you wanted to sunbathe on the moon hes pretty sure he'd follow.
"yes i do thank you. it's a lovely day." you beam, smoothing out the blankets and rearranging the pillows just how you like. throwing your phone somewhere near the far corner. you are going to nap dammit. no distractions allowed ( jude not included ).
he huffs, "why the backyard, there are plenty of parks," squinting up at the sun the breaks between the tall trees that span the yard.
you shrug, "it's more intimate this way. i don’t want to get all dressed up and deal with people, and i know how tired you get from having to interact with the public. now sit," you pat the space next to you on the blanket. nice and neat against the grass.
he supposes that it is much more intimate. it's a welcome change from your usual outings. always with security and his agent. here he can be jude, and you are free to be you in every capacity. under the shade, you each blossom and bloom under the suns warm touch. each leaning on eachother.
he finds it endearing how you thought of him, remembering his likes and dislikes. you really are something.
but you don't need to know that just yet. he finds complaining rather fun.
"ants are going to have a field day." jude grumbles, sitting himself cross legged next to you.
you shrug, "they don’t do much honestly. we don’t even have food out anyway."
he hums, "i guess so."
you hunker down belly flat on the soft blanket, stretching your limbs out with a yawn, "well im going to nap." you sigh softly, grabbing a pillow and burying your face into its side.
jude looks at you aghast,"no no no. you drag me out here and then you bail to nap ? absolutely not."
"i need my sun nap time or i die. like a plant." you retort, eyes closed.
"i need my time with you or i die. like a jude." he shoots back, arms failing as he whines.
you crack an eye open to glare at him, "just try it, "arms open and inviting him next to you.
he eventually gives in, rolling his eyes playfully as he slides right into your arms. face pressed into the same pillow, he lets you get comfortable against him. sliding your arms to bring him closer, wrapping a leg around his.
"see? not so bad you big baby." you mumble into his skin, pressing a few kisses into his skin.
"guess not." he mumbles, warm and content in your embrace.
you're out light a light not even a minute later, softly grasping his arms and face buried into him as you doze off in the sun. just like you wanted.
there's much worse things he could be doing right now he realizes. a slew of illegal activities, hundreds of bad food to chow down on and make his nutritionist hate her life. the amout of shit he gets from his teamates on his habbits is enough to last a life time. they really should be jumping for joy.
but more importantly, he could jump for joy. happy and warm, pressed close to his lovers side. cuddling with you on soft blankets in the sun on a warm day is the best option. safe and sound in your arms jude soon finds himself drifting away. he hopes he dreams of you.

Can't change me
Jaehyun strolled through the sleek, dimly lit corridors of the Bureau, his polished shoes echoing softly against the marble floor. His reputation as the Bureau's most charismatic and untouchable agent preceded him. Every glance cast his way was filled with admiration, longing, or envy. Women wanted him, men wanted to be him, but Jaehyun remained aloof, his standards and expectations towering above the reach of most. He believed in a prophecy of sorts—one that he had set for himself. No one was near his league, no one met his exacting standards. It wasn't arrogance, but a certainty he carried with him, like a shield against the world. Until today. "Jaehyun, we have a situation," his superior's voice crackled through the intercom. "The boss's daughter. She's been detained under... unfortunate circumstances. You're to bail her out." He frowned, a hint of annoyance crossing his otherwise impassive face. Babysitting wasn't his usual line of work, but an order was an order. He headed to the detention area, each step filled with reluctant duty. The cell block was stark, cold, and impersonal. Through the bars, he saw you, sitting on the hard bench, arms crossed, eyes filled with defiance. You were nothing like he had expected. The boss's daughter, caught in a web of misinformation. "Miss," he began, his voice even and devoid of warmth, "I'm here to get you out." You looked up, meeting his gaze with a fire that caught him off guard. "Took you long enough." Jaehyun's eyes narrowed slightly. "Let's not make this harder than it needs to be. Follow me." You stood up, brushing off your clothes. "Just because you're the Bureau's golden boy doesn't mean you get to order me around." His jaw tightened. He wasn't used to being challenged, especially not by someone he was supposed to help. "We can either do this the easy way, or you can stay here longer. Your choice." You glared at him but followed. The walk through the corridors was tense, silent, both of you radiating mutual dislike. As you stepped outside into the cool night air, you turned to him. "Thanks for the help. Not that I needed it." He almost rolled his eyes. "Clearly, you did." With that, he left you there, heading back inside, trying to shake off the strange irritation—and something else—that lingered after your encounter. --- Days turned into weeks, but Jaehyun couldn't shake you from his mind. He found himself thinking about you at odd times, wondering what you were doing, if you were alright. The intensity of his thoughts frustrated him. How could someone so infuriating be so captivating?

Plush Drama (Yoru Valorant)
(A/N: First time writing on Tumblr. Help a noob out please idk what i'm doing. Anyway, this is a long one-shot with Yoru barely saying anything because he's a shy fuck. It's mostly actions. Hope ya'll enjoy, and feel free to request anything!) Pairing: Yoru/GN!Reader
Summary: You receive a unexpected gift from an unexpected person. Word count: 1.4k ----------
You held the small plush toy with both of your hands, outstretched as if shy of the small stuffed animal. The soft and squishy black cat followed you with its large green eyes as you inspect it from different angles. And while you loved stuffed animals, where it came from gave you a bit of a strange impression.
--Hours Before—
A few of the agents came back from a mission in an undisclosed location (either that or you just weren’t listening very well). It was not unusual for them to bring knickknacks home, especially for Sage. She liked looking out for the other agents.
But you weren’t expecting anything from him at all.
When you first met Yoru when you joined the operation, you thought he was a pain in the ass. He was always straightforward with his thoughts about people, including you. With foresight, you know he means well, but of course, his constant insults in the beginning of your friendship made you make sure you proved him wrong in every occasion. Even if it meant going the extra mile of learning how to use the operator from the mysterious Chamber. With that, you proved yourself to be his equals in skill, and therefore gained his respect and trust. You could even say you were good friends.
Although recently he’s been acting strangely. It was the small things that you noticed about him. During meetings, you’d always catch him glancing at your direction from the reflection of the window as you feigned disinterest in the mission briefings. You bump into him frequently when you leave your room in the hallways, despite his room being on an entirely different floor. During conversations, he’d try to say something, then bail on it immediately. And when you ask about it, he suddenly needs to leave, or he changes the topic. Then sometimes, he’d go completely distant, and won’t even look at your general direction. It was getting on your nerves if you were being honest. He was always secretive, but could he at least pretend to be not hiding something from you?
So, this gesture of his—giving you the stuffed animal—made you question everything.
You and the rest of the agents watched as the plane dropped off Brimstone, Sage, Phoenix, and lastly, Yoru. As the whirring of the engine faded, Yoru held the poor cat by the throat and shoved it to your chest as he walked past, Vandal hanging from his shoulder. “Take it,” he says curtly without looking back at your confused face. You don’t hear Sage and Phoenix giggle at each other.
You chase after him, pulling his arm back. His raises a brow at you, wiping back his gelled hair. “What?” He asks.
“What do you mean ‘what’? What’s this for?” You held the cat up to his face. He was much taller than you. “You act weird before you left, you’re gone for a week, and all you say to me is ‘take it’ and shove this… this thing at me? Where did you even get this?” Your voice rises out of annoyance.
He glares back at you, pushing the plushy down. “I found it on our way back. Didn’t look too trashed so I thought I’d take it.”
“Where exactly?”
“On the floor of some place.”
“Near where?”
“I don’t know, some place! Does it matter?”
Your face scrunches up in disbelief. The nerve of this guy! “Of course it does!” You cross your arms while gripping the toy animal. The poor thing was getting beaten up.
“So let me get this straight, you see a stuffed animal on the floor, in perfect condition, and instead of bringing it to a guard or whatever for lost and found, you take it for yourself, then decide you don’t like it enough to keep, so you give it to me?” You sway your hips to one side, your feet tapping on the metal flooring impatiently. Now it was Yoru’s turn in crossing his arms, mimicking you.
“God forbid there’s some kid out there crying over their stuffed cat.” You sigh.
“Look, do you want the animal or not?” He asks after your rambling, gritting his teeth while he spoke. Your words get caught up in your throat. Of course, you wanted it. But you were just too confused, and a little disappointed about where it came from. “If you don’t want it, I can always give it to Skye. Maybe her summons need new friends. I’d like to contribute to her zoo anyways.” He sighs, his eyes wandering while he held out his hand to you. Obviously he wanted you to keep it, but his stubbornness is keeping him from admitting it.
The mention of Skye made your stomach churn. You didn’t know why. But before you could reply, Phoenix spoke from behind Yoru. “Oh for God’s sakes man. Just tell her where it came from.” He says, and Yoru snaps his head towards his direction, telling him ‘shut up’ in Japanese. You talked enough with Yoru to know what he was saying.
“Tell me what?” You asked again. Yoru slowly turns his head back to you again, his cheeks dusted with a pale red. “He got that cat from a crane machine we passed by on our way back. He insisted on staying until he got that cat. And boy was he relentless!” Phoenix answered for him, while Yoru clenched his fists. “Shut your mouth unless you want me to—” but Phoenix continues, leaning an elbow on Yoru’s tense shoulders playfully.
“He spent so much time and money, we almost thought of leaving him there. And as you can see, Yoru Jr. got out of that box alive.” Phoenix shrugs and walks away, Jett trailing behind him as they held hands. Yoru’s jaw slacked, before he started cursing under his breath, gulping.
You stare at him, his posture defeated, a hand on his hip as he tried to find the words he wanted to say. You pouted slightly, then held the cat in your arms. “Is that true?” You asked him, and you couldn’t even tell that the rest were watching you from a distance.
He sighs and shrugs. “Again, does it matter?” He looks at you in the eyes, his expression softer now. You bit your lip before smiling and hugged the cat tighter. “Again, it does.” You reply quietly, smiling against the cat’s soft fur. “Thank you Yoru. This is actually very sweet of you.”
He rolls his eyes, but his scowl disappears. While he looked so nonchalant on the outside, on the inside, he was panicking. He didn’t know how you’d take it if you knew where it came from. He was horrible at communicating his intentions. He saw that cat and decided that he had to get it for you, no matter what the cost. Because it looked like something you’d like. “So, you’ll keep it?” He asks meekly, his right hand fidgeting with the zipper of his jacket. God, was he bad at this.
“Hmm. No.” You say curtly, which took him by surprise. His eyes widen, and he felt his heart drop. You laugh at his sudden change of expression. He was not easy to startle so you took note of every small detail of his face.
“Well, not today at least. I think it’s best if Yoru Jr. spent time with his dad one last night before he’s completely in my care.” You continued, walking past him, now being able to smile widely while your back was turned to him. He blushes, heartbeat increasing. “Wait—dad?” He asks, following behind you and matching your pace. Looking back, you giggle at him. “Plus, I know you’re tired from the mission, and he would be a great pillow.”
With you warmly receiving his gift, he couldn’t speak. His brain couldn’t find the words to say. As someone who was so curt and straightforward, and admittedly rude at times, you always had him too starstruck to say anything. So instead of saying anything, he pets the cat while you held it. After a while, he finds his voice. “Does that make you his mom?”
Now it was your turn to blush. You look at him and he’s already staring at your eyes. Both of your hearts were in sync. You laugh lightly holding his gaze, then shyly shrug. “I guess so.” Butterflies fly around in your stomach as he returns a soft smile. God, were you glad he was back.

(Dec. 7th, Wednesday)
Wicks
He sighed after he said goodbye to Lynette, and they hung up. His hazel hue shifted away from the wide, nearly empty sidewalk to Garter. His friend wore such a puckish grin.
"You look proud of yourself."
Garter pulled up his chest, "Always am."
Wicks partially smiled back. It'll be fine. The sentence echoed in his mind over and over again. He couldn't help but reimagine what happened before.
Then his throat was tight; someone pulled at the back of his dark green compression long sleeve. It stopped him.
His attention crawled back out of his mind when Garter laughed.
"Were you walking with your eyes closed?"
Wicks had almost walked into a lamp post.
"Thanks." Garters' hand dropped. Wicks's body picked up the corners of his lips and smiled, "I was lost in thought with my eyes open."
In a human case, the mountain oni tilted over to allow Wicks more room. "Over this?"
Wicks limply bobbed his head up and down. "Yeah." The word left without conviction.
"Focus Wicks."
Not even a year after the war, he heard his Dad's voice changed and scarred—the croak of sore vocal cords never left his mind in times like this.
I'm on a mission. Wicks reminded himself. They were finally cracking down on the monster that assigned I.D.'s and seals without proper certification. Like they did to Claudia.
"Are you worried for little Lynette?"
His reply wavered. Garter caught him. He wanted to tell Garter and explain it all, though it was something only his family, Olivia, their leader, and himself knew.
Wicks tightened his ponytail, "she has a bad habit of getting into trouble. Even with humans."
His left arm tensed up like he was about to throw a punch. He always remembered the situations she got herself into in school. She meddled her way in, and he bailed her out. She never realized what might happen by intervening like that... He released a deep breath, or she didn't care.
"What kind of trouble? Fights?!" Garter gasped as he bent toward Wicks while they were still walking, nearing their destination. "She fights like she's never lifted her arms in her life!" He playfully kept his arms down and tried to swing them into Wicks.
Wicks responded with a soft push, "How dare you insult my sister in front of me."
Garter snickered, pleased with his joke.
You're bogus. Wicks smiled regardless—he knew Garter only poked fun at Lynette and didn't mean any harm.
He especially appreciated him.
Garter was a handful at times, and Wicks hadn't seen him enough before he started helping train Lynette. They rarely went on missions together like this.
Most of the time, it'd be solo. However, this only meant that Wicks would need Garter to cover the aspects he needed to improve.
It was the reason for his behavior when Lynette met and saw Zetsu. No one was supposed to know besides a few select agents like them.
They couldn't have anyone tip Zetsu off.
They were to bring Zetsu in and get a confession because those licenses and seals were essential. They were used to get into events and privileges.
The 'badges' were as physical as the C.P.P.A. ones that were generally bound to their palms, with some exceptions.
Wicks and Garter slowed down. The apartment complex looked rather beaten the closer they stepped. It is very worn down and barely livable compared to the other housing available. I know you make more in the C.P.P.A.
There was always the possibility that it could be a false lead.
"You're going in first," Garter reminded him.
He traced over the details, the barred windows, rusted over fire escape, and bits of fauna growing along the edges from the nearby patches of dirt running alongside the dirtied stone staircase.
"And you wait out here, on standby."
Wicks walked to the steps. Garter behind him threw up his hood and would be patrolling and putting a barrier up if fighting broke out.
Be careful with any questions. Wicks said to himself. Unlike other monsters, Sphinx's magic rarely gave off an indication that it had been activated. Any question could lead Wicks right into Zetsu's hands.
Wicks twisted the knob; he first assumed it wouldn't open because most wouldn't without a key, especially as there were plenty of buttons to press near the door to buzzer a room to let someone up.
Are the locks broken? Wicks questioned as he was blasted by the scents of cigarettes and the foul burn of cat urine. The rugs below his squelched slightly under his soles. Do people live in conditions like this? Not that he should talk; Madre wasn't well off when they all arrived on Earth. He remembered being on the streets for the first two weeks. If they weren't and stayed in a shelter, Madre wouldn't have been able to keep them. Not that we wouldn't have fought to stay with her.
Regardless, this, as a paid living condition, irked him.
He went toward the staircase, jagged carpet as well, and the doors themselves seemed paper thin with the number of voices he heard beyond them.
He knew they couldn't help everyone. They had numbers in the C.P.P.A. and leverage to a certain extent, yet their efforts were on the problems humans shouldn't constantly have to deal with monsters—including himself.
He climbed up to the fifth floor, room D. And knocked.
...
Drake
He flipped his hand back and let his own explosion erupt. Just like he practiced with a ferocious fury of fire and then into crackling sparks. Andras, who somehow possessed the same heartbeat and appearance as the blue haired Ace, threw himself back, unable to avoid all of it. His cloak nearly shattered, though it held while Drake's car almost went up in flames.
Drake escaped the asphalt and his eyes held onto Andras.
"I don't want to fight you, Flawless. I need you to have as much energy as you can spare for later."
Drake didn't feel like he had much anyway. Why do I already feel so drained? Did he do something else when he bit me.
Drake closed the distance between them, though Lynette blocked Andras before he could throw another blast.
Her eyes were dull, and not a muscle went against protecting him. Yet her heart scrambled like a rat in a tank filling with water.
"OUT OF THE WAY!" He commanded in a fusillade of animosity.
Her body listened to him past the puppeteering the fake Alexander used on her.
And it left Drake vulnerable to perform.
A hand came around holding bundle of steel cord. He couldn't close his mouth in time. The cord exploded like worms, and stuffed its way into his mouth. It kept him from closing his jaw and biting, and the left over strings went around his head to keep it secure.
He couldn't even lift a hand to fight as their next move hit him with temporary magic sealing cuffs. Drake flipped and bashed his head into the person holding up an illusion that made them look like Alexander.
It struck them, made them stumble but Drake did more damage to his body than theirs, because he didn't have a link to his form like they did in human cases. His own strength, it was better than humans, but most monsters were tougher.
Thus, the being got Drake when he attacked again.
While Andras pursued Lynette. She couldn't get far because of the barrier. She banged into it, which brought her out of Drake's ability.
Lynette dropped to her knees, her hands clutched up to her body. It hurt Drake to see.
"No need to cry, poor Lynette." Andras teased and changed his voice to Ace's. "You're worthwhile and I'm sorry I never noticed that before."
He listened to beats. It's not only fear of the situation. Drake didn't understand what else she was afraid of.
"Stop it, leave me alone! Let me live!" She huddled further, hiding herself in a ball, and trembling.
Andras approached and pushed the short bangs back. He knelt to her and reached out. "You're embarrassing yourself, someone part of such an esteemed-"
Her right hand swung back and swiped across his face. She nicked him with it across his nose. She was too quick on the draw.
She was worried about getting caught?
He laughed, "You're not as timid as I assumed!" The wound healed.
Lynette held up the blade and fumbled her stance, "why are you attacking Drake? What even are you?"
Andras looked her over, "you never attacked anyone with the intent to kill or really hurt them, have you?" He stepped closer. "You should have waited until it'd kill. I'm a magus, after all. I can simply end your life right now if I wanted."
She adjusted her stance, "Y-you could. Wh-why don't you then?"
"Because Drake needs you." He turned back and looked at them. "Isn't that-" his lips curled wickedly seeing Drake the way he was, "Osiris, you answer for him. He needs Lynette now, right?"
"Yes, so you should comply and help him," Osiris shouted to her.
Lynette's temporary control was revoked. She dropped her knife and nodded. I still can't combat that with my animosity. I wish I knew Disrupt.
Andras didn't turn. He glanced at the knife and then at the other object on the ground where Lynette had her foot.
"That's why you struck so early. You were contacting someone and didn't want me to see." He shifted his foot on the ground, opening a hole in the asphalt. He let it drop inside and buried it.
"Why don't you get those two into the car? I'll make sure the mess isn't found immediately."
They were first shoved into the car with Osiris still looking like Alexander. His best friend.
The lights on the ceiling burned, overly bright to Drake. The leather seats felt like an extra layer of constraint, as if he would sink into them if he pressed too much weight back.
The seats curved, only one door was usable. Meaning one viable exit. With a table and bar underneath across from them.
Andras switched places once he finished out there, and slipped Drake's phone from his pocket.
Drake knew one of them used illusion magic. Andras didn't. How does his heart sound like Ace's?
Andras put his arm around Lynette and smiled at Drake. She's his shield.
"What's the matter, Flawless? Are you not excited to be my merchandise again?"
Drake lurched at Andras, then stopped once he tipped Lynette's head away, exposing her neck. "Unlike you, she's fragile, isn't she? She can't regenerate at the same level as your species. One bite from me, and she'd bleed out."
Drake's toes curled in his shoes, and his eyes felt like they were bursting with falls of lava. He also hated that he found a fascination in that idea, blood from her.
Andras sat back, still holding her to his chest. "I already have two VERY excited clients looking to have a taste of you."
His anger was threatened to be snuffed out by his mention of clients. The flash flood of anxiety told him and his anger to run.
He remained still. Drake knew if he thrashed too much, he'd threaten Lynette.
His body desperately tried to change with no success. Vampires were immune to many poisons and trouble, but there were certain herbs they should never consume. And one of those was wolfsbane due to it's canceling properties on vampire beasts.
He couldn't even hiss with the metal twisted in his jaw.
"You look so angry, Flawless—you know this all could have been avoided if you-" The phone he took started to ring. It was Drake's. Andras bounced excitably, "Oh, look, it's short fuse."
Andras put his head over hers.
Her eyes look dead.
Surprise stabbed Drake, Andras perfectly copied his own voice too. He talked to Alexander like he would.
How is he doing that? His eyes aren't glowing. Drake had never seen a magus use magic without their eyes signifying it.
"That should keep him busy for a little while." He broke the phone, opened the car door, and tossed it out.
"Where were we-" He brushed Lynette's curls from her face and he sickeningly admired her. Tracing his finger across her lips.
Drake pushed forward to make Lynette's body move and stop Andras.
Andras noticed it, and his eyes flicked to Drake, "Sorry. I should pay attention to my real prize, huh?" He sat back, "You know how hard it is to find a Flawless like yourself. Easy to manipulate, to control, and defenseless."
SHUT UP.
"Because you were supposed to stay indoors, weren't you? Coddled up and protected by your family. Like a child."
Drake felt his teeth cracking under his clenching pressure. How the hell would you even know what they told me?
"But you can't help yourself, could you, Flawless?" Andras cackled. kicking his feet up on the table, "You never really change, do you?" He pointed his finger at him, "That's great though. It gives me the jitters thinking about old times."
His muscles couldn't squeeze any harder. He wanted to kill him.
"If you stayed with me, you wouldn't have to be like you are now. You could have lived with that perception of power I gave you." His words pierced into his head like lawn darts. "Don't you miss it?"
If another word was said, he would have snapped.
The driver's window came down, "Andras, someone broke into my brother's home. I have to leave."
They had been driving for about thirty minutes. Andras rolled his head along his shoulders and exhaled disappointedly. "I wanted to get further away, but toss the car into the ocean then."
Ocean?
The car started to speed up.
Drake hoped Andras would brace her as the car hit the metal railing.
...
Alexander
He saw both their cars, but neither Lynette nor Drake at them. They probably went inside. He tugged his tank top and sighed heavily.
He took a few steps forward, then stopped. A human's scent would typically linger in the air, especially one desirable to him like Lynette. He found it odd that he couldn't follow any traces toward the mall.
The winds didn't feel abnormally strong either; the breeze was oddly still. If anything, it left an uneasy calm.
He took out his phone and called Drake.
"Hey, are you finally here?" Alexander received the sass with his question.
Alexander smirked, "Don't start with me." He didn't have a hint of anger behind those words, simply an equal sass back. "Where are you guys at?"
It took him a second to respond. "Far back, left side, Lynette wanted to see the anime. We're in IYF"
"You mean you wanted to, Weeb." He teased. He was one of the only people who knew Drake was an avid anime enjoyer.
"Shut up!" He could almost hear the embarrassment, "Meet us over here."
Drake hung up after.
Alexander threw open the doors to the mall—the abundance of smells made his mind spiral to hunger as usual. This is why I eat before I go to these things. It at least made his desire to eat people manageable.
Why can't I smell her? Something he should have considered a blessing bugged him. It was as hard for him to ignore as it would be for someone to not pay any mind to a fly buzzing by their ear.
In a situation like this, he'd simply find them by tracking hers, but he knew there was no way every other scent would cancel hers out. His uneasiness grew with each step. Alexander paid less and less attention to the others roaming around him and got to the railing overseeing the other floors.
Drake wouldn't do something stupid to her, would he? Alexander asked himself. He knew if Drake did, he wouldn't have acted so calmly on the phone. Then what happened to her? Did Wicks give her something that hides her scent? Is there another hybrid with them? Drake didn't even give them any indication of danger. "Arm and a leg," "pulling my leg," and more. Basically, anything that had to deal with 'someone' holding or things costing a body part.
Alexander felt stupid because he went to call again and threw himself from the railing. This time, his phone went uninterrupted to voicemail.
His adrenaline struck like a volleyball spike into his chest.
He called a few more times, and the same thing happened without fail. Lynette's phone went to voicemail too.
His body moved, and his feet twisted back like his heart did. He couldn't think, he didn't—his eyes, upon instinct, brightened until they were similar to a flashlight, frantically searching for them.
He caught people's attention with his sprint.
He made it to their cars again, and he locked onto the two seals between them. He went to undo one—the curdling smell of blood felt forcefully injected into his nose. It's Drake's. He went to unbind the other seal. Then quickly stopped, holding the last 'latch'.
He was panicked, far too desperate to break it that he hadn't pushed himself to fully read it. The conditions of the seal were hidden behind one and only became apparent once it was undone.
He was left on a standstill. If he did undo the 'latch,' he'd be blown up with the cars. Though he'd survive, he'd erase the evidence.
He couldn't stop what he did as his body was bound to finish. So he was stuck holding a bomb.
All he could do now was observe every aspect of the seal and smell his brothers' blood that they tried to hide behind it.
...
Wicks
"Coming!" He heard Zetsu's voice from the other side of the door.
His eyes were softly illuminated. He couldn't see any other forms of magic used around him or on the door.
There was a jingle of the chain lock and a loud creak as Zetsu pulled it open.
"Hello-" Wicks expected him to slam the door in his face or for him to use magic. Not the innocence of confusion. "Wicks?"
"Hey, sorry to bother you like this, but we have to talk."
"W-we do?"
Then, what Wicks expected guilt. It was a familiar look that he saw Zetsu wear often.
"Can I come in?" Wicks asked.
Wicks didn't hold any particular appeal for the human-cased Sphinx—nonetheless, it was unsettling to know someone so kind acted against his C.P.P.A. Sure, the organization isn't perfect... He understood the importance of it and the good they've done thus far.
The scraggily brown-haired boy let Wicks inside. Despite being taller, Zetsu had such a youthful appearance. He looked 16 at most. It struck a chord with Wicks and made it harder to convict him.
He took his first steps inside. Carpeted gray like the outside, its dark shade concealed stains and smudges.
The air held a stale taste of mildew that chalked at the back of his throat. Why does he live like this? He makes good money.
He'd assume it'd be a front of some kind—that wouldn't explain why he was here now. Unless someone tipped him off.
He stepped past the giant cactus, and an immediate spark of magic rushed through his nerves. His dad trained him to pick up on the distinct pressure in the air when someone uses magic.
His back, not completely left open to Zetsu, hunched. His eyes darted to the trim right next to the plant. He immediately put his hand on the prickles, which made Zetsu jump.
"Wicks!"
They couldn't even break his cloak, so he felt nothing on his hand as he gripped and moved it over. He could see the seal instilled on the trim behind it.
It's a notifier. It'll tell someone I was here.
He turned his attention back to the kid, who innocently raised his hands, "Why are your eyes glowing. I thought you wanted to talk-"
"Who does that notify?" Wicks pointed to it.
"What?"
Wicks read over his thoughts even though his face looked honest.
"What is he talking about? What did Osiris do? What did he put in my house."
Zetsu's thoughts felt like blaring sirens warning of a deadly storm.
He pulled himself from the boy's thoughts, "Who's Osiris?"
Any other shade in his face besides white left. He stumbled away from Wicks and back into the closed door.
Zetsu trapped himself, and that's also why Wicks didn't approach. He maintained his distance. He assumed the boy might lash out under too much stress.
"Hey, I came here to talk. Okay. So tell me what's going on." Wicks controlled his tune. Stay calm.
"I c-can't! He'll hear, he'll know, he'll kill you." The boy got out of the door and went to open it and run out. Wicks had no choice; he threw himself forward and pinned the boy to the door. It slammed shut.
Compared to Wicks, Zetsu was much taller, closer to Garter's height, and had a thin-looking build to match.
"Stop this, Wicks!" He shouted. His human case got dangerously close to breaking. And unlike most Magus's, Wicks sucked at sealing them back up. "Maybe you'll be fine if I get far enough away!"
"I can protect myself and you, Zetsu. Tell me who he is and why you're so afraid of him." Wicks didn't let up, regardless of the desperate wheezes Zetsu released.
"Fine! Just tell me what you want with me!"
Wicks dropped his grip because the exact copy of Zetsu's voice came from behind him.
A strike to himself was expected, not a strike to the floor.
Using enhancements like Wicks, they were able to increase their physical capabilities. He saw the person briefly—they were a copy of Zetsu. The only difference being a single streak of white hair.
He fell into the apartment below.
He heard a scream and quickly scanned the area. How did they get past Garter?
He picked up on the lone female in pajamas holding a controller. She stood from her couch and saw Wicks scramble out of the rubble.
"Whoa- are you okay, dude?"
Her voice seemed shocked more than angry. She got closer, and he met her gaze.
"Your eyes," she exclaimed as he lifted a hand and flashed her with light. Then, he got to her and erased her memory of the moment, making her believe she was getting up to get some water, and the blindness was a result of springing off the couch too quickly.
Garter was involved now by the sounds of above. Though, he needed to focus. He needed all his focus to return the floor to its proper position with reversal magic. It was a strenuous task for him like a muscle rarely worked.
And almost like clockwork, as soon as he got up, Garter came flying at him. He ducked out of the way and avoided being hit by his companion's body. Garter reinforced the walls and floors from what he saw.
Good. Wicks threw himself at the look-alike. They slung Zetsu in the way and used that momentum to avoid the hit themselves. Wicks held back the shot to an extent—albeit created a shockwave across Zetsu's body and knocked him back, similar to an attack with blast magic except focused solely on a point in his chest.
Zetsu's body folded inward, and he slammed back into his bookcase with glass dolls. He was knocked out.
Wicks turned his head to the enemy. "Give up, Osiris." Wicks wasn't sure about the name.
"It's not in my nature to tuck my tail like Earths' dogs," he responded, "besides, wouldn't you rather help your partner? He can't heal himself at the moment."
There was a reason Garter had yet to get up and was late to the fight.
Wicks glanced back. Garter's body wasn't moving. He remained slumped at the door.
"Your choice: capture me or help your friend." He tapped on his watch. "You have five seconds left."
Wicks noticed the seal had been changed, it was going to explode and Garter was near it. He raced to him, wrapped Garter in a cloak and kept his own back to the blast to protect him. Though the room was enforced, it still sent them back and allowed Zetsu and Osiris to escape.
And to make matters worse, he couldn't follow them, because Wicks had gotten word that Lynette texted Suzie for help.
...

Tsukuyomi Trilogy
Chapter I: Apollo
Chapter II: Icarus
Chapter III: Hermes
Messages, Escapades, ESPionage, Trickery, Unknowns(x), Psyche.
You see why I said Moon Craters Highway, right …Earth is literally on its way to become another Moon with how dented it is from various battles as if metaphor for God's salty plan to rid…whom I wonder…
It already looks like an isolated dystopian space city, Mars, or Moon colony, whatever sci-fi likes.
Tumblr media
S'long as road work ahead, get'cha car n bail ay. Not to dwell on logistics, but I must wonder just how they escaped—how Spy managed to sneak near rock takoyaki, how both of them got out of it and to their car, consider last we saw they still were immobilized as heroes arrived on scene. Mb Jr. Spy got to his Sr. Agent while Tatsumaki mangled B13, drilled a hole down to their car, n escaped together. Mb Spy got out first from the larger crack Tatsumaki made while with contact to his Agent still stuck, then when heroes came, he tunnelled out of there n they bail like lab rats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Apollo-san! Are you alright?!”
How nice of you ask about your senior but Boy, does he look alright to you?
He's not daijoubu at all
See, Apollo? Thank your precious junior later for he's nice enough to bail you out so speedy.
Btw I assume their hierarchy as such bc the spy asked him with -san honorific & formal speech. I can somehow hear his voice as a specific type of shounen, usually reserved, but dutifully takes action at an order of his management.
For us, it's not until now we actually learn moon agent's name is Apollo (bit ironic, no?). It makes me wonder why a Sun associated person would work for the Moon, ref to space mission aside. Also makes me wonder if his junior's name is Hermes, consider he was spy (messenger) and now driver for our Agent Apollo… just a thought. Why do I feel like one of them (spy) will defect… also spy's shook face at Tatsumaki is priceless.
Not much to add for Greek mythos bc I feel like it's well-known enough, but apparently “Apollo” can mean “destroy”? Which is curious bc he is a deity often associated with creative attributes, but actually, he can both heal (+) and destroy (—diseases).
Tumblr media
He's named the Sun but is he really the Sun? Or is he just another Shadow of the Moon?
Now as they run for their lives back to base with tails between their legs like disgraced dogs, they pass by the grand sight of a tornado's terror of a tantrum. Tatsumaki is so outraged by Saitama she didn't catch the Tsukuyomis on the run.
Overall:
Tatsumaki has the lead. Tsukuyomi took the hit. They lost not only their generous sum of money donated to secure Psykos, they also lost Psykos herself and they and their dignity got hurt. They only escaped bc Tatsumaki got distracted n too wild but they barely got out with a sliver of their lives and prides. Big, disgruntled loss, if I say so.
Psychic Sisters: +2
Psykos: secured (seized)
Tsukuyomi spy: exposed
Tsukuyomi: –5
Psykos: lost
Money: lost
Health: at risk
Safety: endangered
Dignity: critically damaged
Conclusion:
Gearsper, McCoy, Tsukuyomi, Org.
At the end of it all,Blizzards try to be productive with their number: they make use of their group work & personal expertise to exert pressure on execs to extract information and sort out clues.
Cooperation is a Powerful Tool, isn't it. On both sides of the negotiations, of course.
I wonder if the exec noses get bigger as they lie, it's as if Murata drew them such unique noses on purpose. Except they're so terribly obvious liars you'd be a fool to believe them. McCoy? Oh his shady face at the back is coy as he schemes
Here comes Gearsper at a suspicious moment, who proposes they “must've fallen for tricks.” Well, Whose trickery? What sort of tricks?
Tumblr media
Without an answer to my previous question, he assures them Tsukuyomi is merely a rumour, no more than expired gossip, and so ridiculous a rumour it's not even worth to expand on as conspiracy theory.
Hold on boy, care to explain your forehead scar? And Why do you seem to smirk as you speak?
Suddenly, the button on his helmet looks a little too much like the dented Moon God resides on. And his well fit suit looks too neat for hero work …He hides Tsukuyomi's existence, for whom?
He proceeds to list the reason for his logic, with known presence of psychic members at MA, he makes a fair argument, yet his suggestion raises my subconscious alarm.
Tumblr media
Needle Star doesn't say a word but you can tell he's got some thoughts about Gearsper.
Next panel McCoy exhales his obnoxious fumes with a sleazy smile and you just know he's up to no good. Mb he's let Gearsper cover Tsukuyomi, or he's got more schemes to execute.
Eloquent Evil
Remember I said Apollo gives me the creeps. I figured out exactly why he destabilizes every atom of my existence. His speech unsettles me so.It has no particular abnormality but I noticed he tends to not only speak with long (aka polite) conjugation (desu-masu), but also often uses a form used for suggestion, like let's & shall we, or …right? (deshou-mashou). Both are much used as standard formality, totally normal for real life, and expected politeness to strangers, senior, at work, etc. types of non-familiar speech. Except, bc manga & anime tend to use short conjg., and often super casual speech, esp, action shounen or seinen, courteous articulation can feel out of place with boisterous shouts all around you. It's like when smb is excessively civil it feels uneasy rather than relaxed, bc you feel like they're onto some nefarious schemes, down to exact details.
Best example without evil is Forte's 180° switch from fight me to would you mb like to hang out sometime which creeped Saitama out royally.
And right now, the way Gearsper speaks with all his polite desu-masu & deshou gives me prickly hairs on my neck. An uncanny recall to Apollo's courteous exchanges while he tries to KO ppl. Like, do all mad hatters & smiley mask suit-man present themselves so nobly? Sweet words drip poison from an executioner's tongue. Civil mask hides monstrosity without heart.
Gearsper, Without the Gear, Who are you?
I really don't want to doubt his prior merit, or for him to turn out as spy, bc he seemed to actually enjoy work with others like we saw with support team and they seem to get along well too, but if he is a spy, and it was all a ruse to pretend to be loyal to HA then he's damn good sneaky spy.
See, his humble rank makes him perfect for spy work. A little man with little presence. Nobody would suspect him if he is smart and discreet.
He is timid, not loud or keen to show off, helpful when needed & eager to help, nor likes to flaunt his accomplishments.
His mild manners, low rank, and small presence overall mean he's not easily noticed, no doubt a lament for heroes who want recognition, but an excellent way to conceal among crowd & gather precious intel.
Of course he could just be soft spoken, psychic, met the wrong people at the wrong place at the wrong time and felt the need to conceal himself and his past to keep his job, mb he was deemed a failed experiment, who escaped and wants no contact whatsoever with his past, sort of like Zombieman, although he did pursue Genus for clues about the limiter and God.
But for him to step out right now, to basically say: I know Tsukuyomi, but you need not know, bc it is non-existent… It would have been better for him (personally), to not speak at all, than to draw suspicion to himself, spark more curiosity about Tsukuyomi, and essentially expose the existence of the organization even more.
He could be manipulated, who knows. It's hard to read people without their full expression, eyes and brows are very subtle but honest indicators of truth emotions after all.
I was about cite his “weak” psychic power as part of why he's not easy to notice, but we only saw so much of him and he's really not half bad. I just feel like there's more to what his hero rank dictates about his ability. We all know ranks are BS often times.
I rambled about Gearsper's potential psychic capacity before, over here. It's just an old idea but bc his Gear is part of his hero identity, I do want to know what it does and how it works.
Thus concludes my Tsukuyomi arc.
It has been an unforgettable experience, fellow highway adventurers, see you next ride.
Guest commentary brought to you by Apollo's poison pill, with great relief we can tell you the poison has dissolved and he is now asleep :DD

(I made a poorly recreated diagram of the DLC levels I hate since I bought it yesterday.)
(I also have some side order tips I shared with friends since I'm now 3 weapon completions in but my strategy is pretty biased to being slow and steady so I'll put them under a readmore)
-puts crinkled tissue paper notes on table- general SO notes
-Defense up gud, especially if you go above 1.0
-Before you do a run, hit ZR on weapon select to check the weapon's preferred colortype. For example, if going with Marina's umbrella, you're going to want pearl drone hacks to benefit it's drone upgrade palette. Without them, palette rng will be a crapshoot. Pearl can equip as many bombs as she has slots, in order of importance I'd say: Splat > Mines > Burst > Wail > cooldowns > Sprinkler
-Lucky cards are actually REALLY good if you can snag the 7s chain upgrade. With that, bomb drop, and special drop +Pearl I was basically popping reefsliders every 5 seconds in floors 20-30 to clear rooms with suboptimal dualies. With the rates + 7s duration, I come to find that 3% is a lot more like 30%
-Ridiculous and silly strats have done better for me so far than standard main damage buffs. The numbers just aren't high enough without too much investment :(
-Keep an eye on what level types screw you over. I'm pretty bad at hard/ruthless enemy spawner levels so I try to avoid those even if they have "good" upgrades sometimes
-Poison ink + Sticky Ink + Hazard Ink god tier for damage builds. Speaking of, most spawners in floors 1-10 will not spawn more than a first volley, so just coat the entire floor for good measure. As long as they don't spawn sprinklers or minnows, it's free real estate
General boss- Almost always deal with the mobs first. If you ignore them, they're going to chip at you enough for the boss to finish you off. Think of it like salmon run, kind of.
-When your armor breaks, hide in ink as much as you can manage. It restores faster
-Remember you can always stall the hell out of these bosses, there's NO time limit. If it sucks hit da bricks
Octowhirl: Coat the entire floor (You're going to hear this from me a lot, it makes the spawned mobs a non-issue) He'll just sit there and wait most of the time, if he charges you make sure the wall behind you doesn't have a bumper and keep inking until you have the whole field coated. The other reason to do this is to keep up with him in his later phases where he starts to disco ball
Agent 4: Coat the floor before/between waves. Did you know these guys basically have octoling hp and ai? With poison ink alone, I managed to kill 3 without even engaging them, they're fragile and they turf worse than you. They're most dangerous at short range, but you can minimize the trouble by keeping their feet slowed down by your ink. Most of them spawn on the far side, so try to keep your side of the field inked to retreat when it gets bad.
Topman's revenge: Coat the whole floor. When you start inking, ink the little corner near the wall and hide behind the wall when the searchlight passes you, then follow behind the searchlight and ink in a counterclockwise direction until you reach the middle, hiding behind a wall whenever the light catches up. When you actually go to fight it after inking everything, you can stop it's aggro mode attacks by swimming outside of the inner ring, which will return it to searchlight mode. You can kind of fuck around with the ai by flipping between aggro and search mode quickly, which is what I do to keep the fight under control in phase 3
uwu: The outer sides of the battlefield are easy to ink for good reason. Whenever it starts looking nasty, retreat to the outer edge where your ink will remain intact outside of mob spawning. I can't offer any direct advice for this one because your damage output is going to be dependent on where your build snowballed (specials, drone, damage, ect) but the one constant is keep ink control of the field during his shield phases so you can always bail if it gets too bad. Shield Phase 3 has a lot of adds so it may be better to blitz when you get to that point
Personal bias tips: -Bombs on enemy splat are ALWAYS helpful -Main saver and turf ink spread also always good -Ball Levels feel the easiest in difficulty compared to the other three types (probably to prevent them from being impossible with mob spam) When you get them try to sink the balls at the same time to avoid enemy reinforcements

So I almost got scammed today!
I got a call from someone claiming to be with the sheriff's office, they told me I had missed jury duty and had 2 bench warrants for it. They listed off possible addresses the summons would have been sent to (which were real places I'd lived), told me I would be going to the sheriff's office in person to take care of it, told me the amount I would have to pay on a bail bond to have the warrant dismissed until my DNR claim was approved, and were walking me through the steps to get that taken care of.
First sign of an issue: they said I had to stay on the phone the whole time. That means I couldn't take a moment to gather my thoughts and do any kind of research into this to fact check what was happening.
They warned me about a program called Crime Stoppers, which provides a reward to anyone who can provide information about a person with a warrant, and that if I'm reported through that line I won't be able to get the warrant dismissed. Which means I can't tell anyone what's happening for them to tell me it's a scam.
At first I was told I had to pay cash, but who the hell has access to $2,400. Major red flag.
Then I was told that I could get it taken care of at a bail bonds machine. Nice! It was a bitcoin machine. This is a scam!
I clicked through the menu on the machine, and it said, "Hey! Are you here because a government agent told you to do this? They're scamming you!"
He also made a comment about how after I got the machine part taken care or I would come down to the sheriff's office and take care of the rest in person with him. When he first introduced himself, he had said a county I no longer live in. I had already told him I was over 3 hours from there.
I hung up on him, he immediately called back and I said it had randomly disconnected. I told him I wasn't going forward with the process and he told me I would be accepting responsibility for the two felony charges associated with the warrants. I said "yeah, that's fine. Bye."
And then I happened to be near an actual cop so I walked over and asked him about it and he was like yeah 100% that's a scam.
So! Do better than I did and catch that shit before you waste 40 minutes of your day.

We'll Always Have Casablanca
Salutations I have come with even more resident evil brainworms. Fic part 1 of 3 (tbd), follows several years after the ending of Once (That Was Enough). Written as gen fic for every character alluded to, though if I squint and feel like it's otherwise I can defs tag. Also sorry for rough formatting - wrote this all on mobile while AO3 is down. Hope you enjoy!
Characters: Steve Burnside, Leon Kennedy
Summary: Steve gets an unexpected request from a distant acquaintance.
Word Count: 634 (of 4185)
Warnings: Alcohol use
~
It was the autumn of 2004, and Steve was starting his last year of college in Virginia. With NOVA being damp and cold, and Claire out traveling for Terrasave, he spent most of his time stuck at their apartment. Sure, he still hung out with his old dorm friends, but the past year and a half had been sobering. Chris' intel had shown traces of a bioterrorism incident in South America with t-Veronica involved, but the US government was taking extreme measures to keep it covered up. Steve didn't want to think about how that virus ever made it out of Antarctica (because eventually his ruminations all came back to him), and so he committed himself to his biomed papers. Could've sworn he wouldn't follow in his dad's footsteps, but it was therapeutic to at least start putting together the pieces of how his body worked. He'd never be able to get a government gig (medical testing would out him immediately), but he'd looked into some private sector jobs, and was confident he'd be able to get hired as discreetly as possible.
He'd read halfway through a paper when his cell rung, blue screen flashing an unknown number. It was a series of rapid texts. Steve opened his phone, wondering who it could be.
Is this Steve?
It's Leon
Leon... Kennedy? The last time they'd met was back in '99, when he'd awkwardly delivered a bottle of Makers Mark that he'd made Chris buy for him. (All the adults bought alcohol as thank you gifts - he just hadn't been quite adult enough to buy it himself). They were acquainted, sure, but not enough for him to message out of the blue like this.
Yeah, it's me.
You lost Claire's number or something?
Steve typed, in the only conclusion he could reach. Leon was another guy who traveled frequently - maybe he'd lost her contact info while abroad. Then again, why would he have his?
The response is fast.
No
You're still in nova right
Yeah, what's up?
The next message is an address - closer to DC, but nearby enough for him to recognize the zip code.
Can you get here now
Need advice
Don't tell Claire
The stream of texts paused for a moment, and Steve took the time to try and process all this. That nasty thought about South America suddenly became much more relevant. There were very limited ways he could be useful to a government agent, but Leon surely understood that fact just as much as he did. Claire had told him how Leon had insisted on utter secrecy about t Veronica back in '98, squeezing her arms across her chest as she recalled Leon's near-outburst. When Steve had met him in person, he hardly seemed like the guy in her story. He was a strait-laced, handsome, if not somber guy. He'd taken the awkward gift of whiskey with the politeness of a natural conversationalist and the steady gaze of a seasoned veteran. As Sherry had so aptly put it during their visits, Leon was her hero, and clearly exuded those qualities.
'Uncle Steve' on the other hand... tried his best.
Hell, he'd help out. Everyone he knew held Leon Kennedy in high esteem, and if he wanted info in person about t-Veronica or whatever else, so be it. Worst case, he'd ask Claire to bail him out... Somehow.
Sure - everything okay?
He added after rereading the last message. The desire to keep it from Claire was still unclear.
The next response was looser.
yeah just dont tell claire yet
you can handle keeping quiet for a day right
Steve felt mildly offended - sure, he'd be the perpetual kid in this twisted found family of his, but he could at least keep his mouth shut.
>:(
Omw
Then again, maybe the instant need to type an angry face meant something about his character.
