How is it that Niall and Louis are the only two who haven't shaved their heads. I mean Louis is too flamboyant to be bald, but Niall's hair is probably still dead from all that bleach. Lol apparently Bald Harry rides.

I know it’s a joke, but I feel I must defend him as a fellow low density curly!

Our hair really looks like that when wet because curls live in curl clumps (families of strands that stick together to make one little ringlet), so our scalp is quite visible when our curls aren’t dry and fluffed (unlike if you have straight hair or higher density curls or coils). If our hair wasn’t like that, our curls would look like one big Hermione-type bush.

That’s why you don’t brush out dry curls cause you don’t wanna separate the natural families. 😂 It’s complicated.

Why might a closeted gay man who is gay presenting not queercode as much, he must still want to express his sexuality and communicate with his community and his sexuality is probably a big part of him? Or does he just expect other gay men to pick up on the signs so he doesn't feel like he has to queercode so much? Isn't he worried about some gay men missing the signs? Because some gay men can't read their own. How do you tell the difference between someone queercoding or someone expressing their sexuality? Also is queercoding for the purpose of telling your community that you're one of them or is it for picking up men? I've heard stories about closeted celebrity men using coding through social media to attract other gay men, like letting them know that they're available. It's usually through sexy pics. Gay men will take it to mean they're up for some fun lol? Whereas straight people won't know any difference as straight people think everything is for them.

The answer is that he's closeted and if he wants to keep bing closeted he needs to balance it with doing something straight. Or else he'd be in a glass closet. So he can't queercode or else he'd have to balance it out with getting a beard. Louis did queercode more when he was with E.

Queercoding serves both purposes. It's a secret signal to other closeted queer people or out queer people that you're one of them. Straight people often don't notice because they don't know what to look for. The signalling also isn't meant for them.

I haven't heard of a single gay male fan of Louis who doesn’t pick up on Louis' queercoding. Their gaydar must be severly broken if that's the case.

Just saw your reaction to the last anon. You really think Harry should listen to literal strangers who think he queerbaits and adjust what he wears according to their opinions? That he can't wear what he wants as long as he is closeted? What a strange perception. As a member of the queer community, I wholeheartedly disagree. He doesn't owe us anything. And it's not clothes that make you gay or less gay, it's being gay that makes you gay. Maybe Harry isn't the problem here.

Anon, you are misunderstanding. I said he can wear what he wants to wear, but he can't do it without it having consequences. Not as long as he's closeted and straight presenting. Those who don't know he's gay will think he's queerbaiting. The voices are getting louder. I do think he cares about being liked and accepted by the queer community. They have the power to cancel people. He also needs their support when he comes out. He's tried unsuccessfully to address the queerbaiting accusations before. Since he's addressing it it must affect him in some way.

Marte what confuses me about the football thing is that Harry isn't going to dress flamboyantly to a football game. There was a viral hate tweet with 70k+ likes about him being back to being straight now that he's got nothing to promote. But what do they expect him to wear to a football game? I don't think many gay men would turn up to a football game in a stage outfit. I know they were trying to make a point but I don't understand it. He's not going to wear a sparkly jumpsuit to a football game. Harry probably didn't want to stand out and wanted to blend in the background. He doesn't want to take attention away from people.

He could have worn his pearls, his little hair clip (but no hair), bellbottom trousers, a blouse with a deep v or something coloured. The difference between his stage outfit, promo outfits and his football look with his short hair was too much for a lot of people. It wasn't only the clothes, it was the reveal of the short hair paired with heavy stunting. It was too much het presenting for someone know for queering it up on stage. It was just too much and it sparked a reaction.
