First the ones I agree with that I've seen a shit ton of people mention >:33

- He is a fatherly figure to Peni. I can imagine when they see each other again, she'd run to him and give him the biggest fucking hug ever. She experienced her Canon Event between ITSV and ATSV too, right? So I can see her needing comfort so badly, and the only ones she ever truly grew close to were Noir and Ham.

- He'd 10000/10 get along so well with Hobie. Along with Hobie legit mentioning his hatred for the AM, PM and fuckin NAZIS IN THE COMIC ,

he'd be rambling so much with Noir about common interests and get along so well with him. Imagine he badazzles him in punk attire and based on this image:

(I'll link where I found the image tomorrow when I'm on my laptop lol if I remember) but based on this image, he teaches Noir how to play the guitar and shit and OUYGG I WANNA SEE THEM INTERACT (they're my fave Spiderverse characters so 👉👈)

- OHOHOHO He loves the colour purple. So much. He can't see it, ofc but he has such a love for the colour that he sees any beautiful colour- or well, of what he can see of colours, and thinks every pretty colour is Purple.

- MJ see's Noir/Peter as a brother and he see's MJ as a sister in turn. There is no romantic attraction at all. Yeah, this means MJ see's Aunt May as a nice Aunt Figure she can go to and talk to about things.

Now onto some of my own headcanons- or some that I don't see mentioned a ton. These have probably been said before but oh well, these are just what I like and my brain go BRRR

- Felicia is taller then Noir. (For those unfamiliar, Felicia is a character from the comic.) Yes that'd probably make her freakishly tall based on how tall Noir is in the movie, but that comic panel of when he first meets her rots in my brain.

- Felicia still has her mask from her ordeals. However, unlike how she pushes away Peter, they actually become friends again. Comfort each other. They swore they'd never be in a relationship again.

- Noir is a combo of both his OG comics personality and 2020's comics personality. I see movie noir as anywhere between 19 - 21. He's learning and developing as a human still. He's calmer and kinder and resembles how his personality is in the newer comics, however, based on this deleted scene LOL, makes me think he looses his shit easily and goes actually feral.

- Oh yeah, Noir most definitely adopted Ding Ding btw. He probably is nearly at the newer comics stage of his life, being a private eye and such, drinking his fucking egg creams like newer comics noir SBSBBS So he found and adopted Ding Ding.

- Despite being young (19 - 21) he has serious eyebags man, dudes sleep deprived 😔 I'm also heavy on the Spiderverse portrait of him unmasked that I don't really draw/see him with facial scars but he could totally have them after the shit he went through 💀

- Noir is a part-time singer. I will not elaborate.

There's so many other things I wrote down that I want to share, but they're on my computer 😭 so you get these for now hhhh

let’s also talk about how good it is that nate now has a support system that he doesn’t need to “share” exactly. like I think where what went wrong in nate’s journey to confidence in the first two seasons was that it was in an environment where ted was the coach basically doing emotional triage. he worked on the people who needed it the most first, and tried to build something with an entire team from the ground up based on that, meaning nate had to share ted in a sense. there was no room for one on one attention so when nate developed his sense of self worth on a guy who couldn’t (and shouldn’t have to?) focus on him all the time, it became doomed to self-implode, especially since he didn’t feel as though he had a supportive family.

but now he’s growing! we got to see moments where his mother and sister were supporting him, he’s slowly realizing the kind of person he actually wants to be, he’s trying to let go of his self-destructive patterns. and, importantly, he’s got jade! who is so so so good for him in so many ways, but mainly because she’s a support system where he doesn’t have to feel like he’s in competition with others for his affection. she shows clear interest in him, wants to be his girlfriend, and they have a surprisingly stable and healthy relationship which is especially highlighted in the scene of this episode where he goes to her place and just hugs her (SO cute btw). like yes she has a life and family and friends and a job I’m not saying he’ll be able to have her 24/7 I just mean it’s not a dynamic where he’ll feel like she’s slipping through his fingers all the time. it’s just exactly the kind of support system he needs in order to break free from rupert and become truly confident in himself.

Okay, so I feel awful because this isn't quite what you asked for but I had so much trouble with coming up with something cohesive so it kinda reads as a series of drabbles? Each drabble is based on a scene that's happened in the movie and I tried to make Levi as in character as possible. I also don't write smut so I'm also sorry about that! Again, I'm so sorry my brain isn't working but I hope this works 😭🥲❤️

“Do you trust me?” Levi whispers into your ear from behind you, his hands firmly gripping your waist.

“I do.” Your eyes are closed as you nod.

“Good.” You can hear the smirk in his voice. “Stick out your arms.”

You do as he says and feel his hands travel from your waist up and out to where your hands are, entangling your fingers with his.

“Now open.” He instructs softly and you do, awestruck by the vast sea in front of you. Levi hears you take a sharp breath of awe before you let out a nervous giggle. Levi smiles himself, hands still intertwined with yours as he gives you a soft kiss on your cheek.

“This is how the other side lives, huh?” You tease him with a smile as you look around the room, enjoying the sight of the passengers drinking, laughing, and dancing.

 “Got something to say about it?” He turns to you with a sly smile.

You shake your head. “Nope.”

Levi leans in close to you, snaking one hand around your neck, his eyes meeting yours before they flicker down to your lips. “I figured as much.” He smirks before leaning in closer to give you another kiss.

Later on in the night you ask Levi to dance as everyone is up on their feet.

“I don’t dance.”

“You can’t dance, or you won’t dance?” You ask him.

He shrugs. “Both.”

You pout.

“Cute.”

“Levi….”

“You’ll live.”

“Draw me like one of your French girls….” You whisper into his ear softly before you make your way to the loveseat, undressing before him.

Levi takes a sharp breath as you lie down on the furniture, completely nude, trying to pose correctly.

He nods slowly before pulling out his sketchpad, starting to sketch you while giving you instructions on how to position yourself.

Still drawing, Levi can’t help but take a moment to just look at you. “Beautiful….” He whispers to himself as his eyes meet yours.

“Hm?” You scrunch your nose at him.

He gives you a small smile and shakes his head. “It’s nothing.” He says before he continues sketching you.

Levi watches you with wide eyes as you jump from the boat being lowered to the edge of the sinking ship. He immediately takes off running in order to get to you. You both meet in the main hall where you smash into each other.

“You’re so fucking stupid, you know that?” You can hear the strain and the worry in his voice as he wraps himself around you.

“I know, I’m sorry- ”

 He cuts you off with a needy kiss. “I love you, don’t ever do something like that again.”

The water’s rising quickly so he needs to get you on board, fast.

“Sweetheart, look at me.” His eyes find yours as he gently grabs the sides of your face to calm you down and focus on him. “I need you to hang in there, okay? Are you with me?”

You can barely think but you nod quickly as a few tears slide down your cheeks. “Atta girl.” He wipes the stray tears with his thumbs and gives you a kiss on your forehead.

“Now I’m going to go under and unlock it from the bottom.” He briefly glances at the locked gate in front of the both of you before he puts his focus on you. “Listen to me, do not move.” He says firmly and you nod once again, which earns you another kiss on the lips.

The cold air makes contact with your soaking-wet body, causing you to shiver as Levi helps hoist you out of the water and onto the floating door. “L-Levi.” Your teeth chatter as you hold out an arm to help Levi get on the door as well. He takes your hand and although it’s a little shaky for him getting out of the water and onto the door, with your help he’s able to climb on. He immediately pulls you to him, peppering kisses all over your face. “We’re okay.” He whispers.

“yeah,” heeseung nods, reaching over to grab the prop swords. he stands opposite to you as you raise your own prop swords to rehearse through the choreography once again. the plastic hits against each other dangerously close to you before heeseung misses a faux attack. 

you both gasp when the sword hits against his shoulder. it’s gentle - but it’s enough to make you immediately panic. you drop the prop, rushing over to him. “oh my god, i’m so sorry,” you whisper, reaching over to grab his hand. “are you okay?”

“i can’t believe this,” he dramatically whispers. “hit! by my own boyfriend!” 

“hee,” you chuckle. “i’m sorry.”

“i deserve a kiss,” he dramatically huffs. you gently grab his hand, checking the patch of skin. a small area on his knuckles are a gentle red but otherwise he doesn’t look hurt. you playfully roll your eyes, lifting it up to press a kiss against his knuckles. 

“i’m sorry i hurt you,” you whisper. 

“it’s okay,” heeseung hums, pulling you into a kiss.

“why are you applying makeup if i’m gonna be underwater,” jay asks as you tilt his face upwards once again. 

“because you’re not gonna be underwater the entire time,” you reply. his eyes flutter closed as you adjust your position to brush the fine tip along his eye structure, careful not to be too harsh with your movements. “besides, you look gorgeous with eyeliner.”

jay simply hums in response. “still feels weird though,” he murmurs. 

you pull back once the wings look symmetrical and set the eyeliner aside beside the other various products. jay blinks a few times as you chuckle, this time moving onto his lips. “you’ll get used to it.” his face flushes slightly as you lean in to brush a tint against them. in your concentration, you don’t notice the way jay remains completely focused on your lips until he leans in to press his lips against yours in a quick kiss. you flinch slightly at the sudden touch as he laughs at your bewilderment. “sorry,” jay murmurs, leaning in to pull you back into another kiss. “but you look gorgeous with lip tint.”

jake laughs as he turns around to face you. he brings a hand up to cup your cheek, brushing his thumb against your skin. “you think so?”

“i’m dating the sim jake,” you tease. “how could i not?” jake chuckles, shaking his head as he leans in to pull you into a kiss.

“like that?” he asks, repeating the move with your corrections.

neither of you notice sunghoon’s slight glare from where he’s sitting from across the room. he startles slightly when jay sits down beside him, poorly stifling a chuckle. sunghoon furrows his eyebrows as he turns to face him. “what?”

“you should drop the glare,” he laughs. “your face might get stuck like that.”

“i’m not glaring!” 

“whatever you say.”

sunghoon’s defense quickly disappears when you walk over, replacing jay in sitting beside him. “how’s practice going?” you ask, taking a sip from your water bottle. 

“why don’t you ask heeseung?” he mutters. 

you cock your head at him in confusion before chuckling. “are you jealous?” you teasingly whisper. 

“...no.” sunghoon looks away, avoiding your eyes. 

you chuckle, reaching up to cup his face with your hand. sunghoon lets you tilt his face towards you as you lean in to pull him into a sweet kiss. his lips just barely quirk upward to smile into it until you pull away. “hoon, you have nothing to be jealous of. don’t worry.”

“i love you,” he whispers.

“that’s perfect,” you smile. “so when you’re doing it on camera you’ll be out in the snow. the props are fake but i still want you to watch your step just in case you accidentally hit someone in the face or anything.”

“i will,” sunoo laughs as you walk over to grab your water bottle and take a sip. his arms snake around your waist from behind as he pulls you into a back hug. you chuckle as he leans over to press a kiss against your cheek. “do you want to come tomorrow? you know, to make sure i don’t hit someone.” 

you stifle a laugh as you twist around, pulling him into a quick kiss. “i’d love to come with you.”

“no!” jungwon shakes his head a few times. his eyes remain fixated on the prop in his hands as he repeats the choreography in his head. 

“hey,” you whisper, breaking him out of his slight trance. “what’s wrong.”

jungwon remains silent for a second before he sighs. “what if i mess it up?”

“wonie,” you whisper. you kneel down in front of him, bringing a hand up to cup his cheek. “you’re perfect. you could never mess it up. and even if you do, nobody will be upset with you, okay?”

jungwon glances back at the prop before nodding. “okay.”

“come on then,” you smile, holding a hand out to pull him to his feet. his hand remains tightly in yours as you trudge through the snow until you reach a small clearing in the trees where all of the camera equipment has been set up. 

you pull jungwon into a quick kiss before pulling away. “you’ll do great,” you murmur. “and i’ll be right here to watch you.”

niki reaches up to cup your cheek when you finish. he glances around the room to check that no one is looking before quickly pulling you into a sweet kiss. “will you please forgive me?” he dramatically sighs. 

you chuckle, playfully rolling your eyes as you press another quick peck against his lips. “only because your hair looks good slicked back like that,” you reply.

ok ok since everyone is speculating about next episode, this is purely based on a tweet that tried to lip read a scene in the swing where sun says "its funny talking alone" (a direct quote from the book btw). what IF ongsa is the one that runs away after sun confronts her? she runs away for the whole day and her family gets super worried and goes to find her and they have that scene where alpha is hugging her with her fam. the next day when she's still thinking of what to do she returns to the swing set sort of like the starting place where her lies starting to catch up to her. meanwhile sun spends all that time looking for her but also contemplating as to what she should do. then aylin or someone texts her that ongsa has been found and that she is in the park and she runs to find her. i have a feeling this is how the show is going to go about it cuz it lines up with their characters. ongsa, even on the book, has a tendency to like jump to her own conclusions and make decisions based on that while sun is more understanding about things. but im not sure i like it cuz it removes a lot of agency from sun and her feelings of betrayal. it makes sense in the book it makes sense why sun accepts that earth is ongsa cuz she didn't know ongsa before, they didnt any type of relationship but the betrayal hits harder in the show cuz she knows her. considers her a special person in her life and to know that that person has been lying to her for months is not something you just get over. idk it's just my 2 cents on the matter.

interesting to know that in the book ongsun didn't have a relationship outside of earthsun; i feel like that more closely aligns with the announcement trailer so if that's a deliberate change they made i hope they do in fact allow sun a bit more agency.

i have absolutely no problem with sun going to find ongsa in the end but i do want her to be angry and shunning ongsa for a bit. we've seen that she has a bit of feist to her and i feel like she is allowed to have a bit of a blow up after finding out honestly. i can see all of that playing out as you said it i just hope they give sun A Moment to yell or be angry with ongsa first. or perhaps yell and be angry with her if ongsa disappears for taking a moment like that away from her too lmao

and i too agree i hope sun makes ongsa grovel for a bit; forgiving her is one thing but i do so hope sun will be petty and lord it over ongsa for a bit and make her make up for it :'))

i love the ‘friends on the other side’ trend on tiktok about both sides of a person, the second being the villain side. i saw a couple about chase and omg i loved them. they were the episodes showing chase just wanting to be recognized and appreciated, then him in the avalanche episode (i still have to make mine for my instagram account.) chase had every reason to have a villain arc as he is treated so badly. yes he’s been a jerk sometimes. yes he does some things that are unnecessary but people treat him way worse than he does to others.

he and will byers are characters that i physically want to hug for hours because i feel so bad for them. my mom and i were watching lab rats and she went “they’re not very nice to [chase],” and i said “yes, no one treats him nicely.”

why is it so unbelievable and impossible for chase to have a girl interested in him or have a girlfriend? sabrina liked chase and adam ruined their study date by bringing spike out because he was jealous, and mr. davenport shook her hand to make sure she was real. is it shocking for him to have a girl over? and then when s1, i think her was, said “your brothers kinda cute” and told bree she was talking about chase, bree asked “chase? what did krane do to your brain?” like it’s so disgusting to like chase, and going backwards, in the robot fight club episode, when caitlin was chasing him because she had a creepy crush on him, bree said “he finally got a girl to pay attention to him.” however, bree did redeem herself in the attack episode with the iconic “no one messes with my brother” scene. however, adam has never been supportive, mr. davenport hasn’t really been supportive, and leo just didn’t care.

god chase can’t get a break. he wanted to hang out with his sister in the death spiral smack down episode and she lied to him to she could hang out with her friends. i don’t believe in lying unless you’re protecting someone, so i think bree should have just told him she wanted to hang out with her girlfriends that day. “i didn’t want to hurt your feelings” she said, which i get, but i think it hurts chase more when you lie to him. chase literally doesn’t have any friends until season 4 basically, and even those friends turn on him (i’ll get to that in a second). his best friends are his family (basically leo and bree), poor thing. in season 3, we see him and sabrina be friends for one episode and as i stated earlier, adam ruined it. in season 4, he became friends with sebastian (im not a sebase fan btw), and quickly best friends. little did he know that seb would soon be going to war with them essentially and trying to get revenge for killing his father, even though it was the right thing to do. that broke chases heart. he just wanted a best friend and seb and him were getting along so well. he and spin COULD have been friends, but honestly i think they’re so alike that they would hate each other. and chase could’ve been friends with each other if they had more screen time together. but even in elite force, he finally made some friends, but they still make fun of him. i’ll elaborate more on this later.

that goddamn list. y’all remember the list a.j. made ranking them based on their powers/abilities and how chase was number 5? BOYYY, he should’ve been at number 1 or number 2. let’s review his abilities, shall we?: super intelligence and super senses, force field, force field ball, magnetism app, override app, internal hard drive (and a whole database), fingerprint recognition app, molecular kinesis, levitation, laser bow, and though this is a glitch, commando app. plus, dude can FIGHT. how the hell does that deserve the last spot on the list? chases abilities are SO COOL SO IM LIKE???

he finally got some friends in elite force, even a best friend in kaz. they got along so well and they really were best friends with each other. and maybe kaz’s love language is making fun of chase because he too does that, but i think it’s light hearted. however, oliver, skylar, and bree picking on him isn’t light hearted. i don’t remember the episode but bree said chase is like an old lady (god he’s not that bad), and in another, oliver said it’s amusing when chase freaks out. i admit he was overreacting to the situation he was freaking out about, but why is it amusing when someone is freaking out?

reese. i love her and hate her. i can’t explain why i love her, i just do. but i hate her because of how she treated chase. she tricked him. she played with his heart. again, i just want to hug him and treat him like a king. y’all know the song boyfriend by dove cameron, well that’s one of the things i feel about chase, just reversed. in another reality, where i’m a girl, i could be a better girlfriend than reese, danielle, sabrina, and for the chaz shippers, a better boyfriend than kaz. i would treat chase the way he deserves to be treated. give him the recognition he deserves. defend him. fight for him. love him platonically or not, i would treat him so much better than others treat him.

did we forget how he was created? by two brother scientists, one of which wanted to make adam, bree, and him ciber soldiers (correct me if i’m wrong) and make them evil. then he was taken from douglas by donald and adopted so they could have a better life. donald did save them, i’ll give him that, but he kept them in the basement for 16 years. i will admit, i wouldn’t have had a better idea than to hide them for that long, but when they made one mistake, he wanted to send them away to finish their training and never be able to see the world again. that’s just sad. but like, think about this. they were babies and they had these chips embedded in their necks when they were BABIES. they were literal lab rats (hence the name of the show) and they were B A B I E S. y’all??? imagine having a tiny metal get shoved into your neck when you’re barely alive and you grow up with these bionics that you never asked for and you’re hidden from the world for 16 years. on top of that, when your bionics are exposed to the world, everyone thinks you’re a threat and you’re nearly separated from your family. PLUS people like krane, who specifically wanted to kill them because he wanted to be more powerful. could you imagine growing up like that?

have i mentioned spike yet? well if i haven’t in previous posts, here you go. spike isn’t chase. he’s a glitch that’s like another person inside of chase. he’s an angry person with the strength of 10 men and ready to kill someone. the first time we ever meet him, he only comes out for a little bit but leo, adam, and bree are enjoying it and taking advantage of it. chase freaks out when he comes out of commando mode as he doesn’t remember anything and doesn’t know what spike did. he comes out again in that episode and they take advantage of it again so they can win a football game. when he disengages, chase reveals how excited he was for his first day and how he barely remembers it because most of it was lived by spike. bree ignores him and asks “where is spike?” while shaking the poor boy. leo then realizes that chase is right. but does that mean that the torture to chase regarding spike stops? sadly, no. i’ll skip ‘spikes got talent’ because that was an accident and he wasn’t being taken advantage of, so let’s just go to season 3. as stated before, adam purposely brought spike out to make chase humiliate himself in front of her who liked him. adam took advantage of chases glitch and was happy that spike came out. poor chase, man. chase doesn’t like spike, he probably hates that glitch, and people not using try to bring him out, but they take advantage of it when he is out.

Very mild spoilers up to early/mid act 2 and Gale romance.

I didn't really want to believe it, but the ninjamance IS really strong in this game. There are definitely bugs to work out behind the scenes.

Despite a dance with Wyll, that ended in a head-turn and no kiss, I have single-mindedly perused Gale this entire time. I have gotten propositioned by literally everyone at camp, save maybe Astarion, including Halsin, though I have definitely done my best to avoid romantic dialog choices with any of them. And everyone else backed off after a polite turn down.

I am loving the Gale romance, btw. Just spot-on perfect romance for my bard. I know this character so well from years of playing her in D&D and she's never had a romance in any D&D game I tried to bring her into, which was always fine, she's got a lot going on. But Gale feels tailor made for her in almost every way, and except for that one dance with Wyll, I never doubted that for this character, this was the right romance.

Not only did I feel confident I was well into relationship status with Gale and nobody else based on my dialog choices, but also some things that happened in-game. The most recent being someone trying to probe my mind and I shoved them off with thoughts of Gale. No one else was dialog choice to think about at that time.

I was starting to feel like people were overreacting about the ninjamance. Like, Gale's "Hey come feel the magic with me!" scene early on gave you several clear outs including the narrator LITERALLY telling you "this is an intimate moment" and the dialog choices clearly giving you polite backout choices in that moment. I thought people complaining about a Gale Ninjamance probably kept going at that point, which I believe IS a romance lock unless you choose one of the ruder choices to push him away?

But hey me? I've got one focus (Gale) and everyone else I'm just friends with! Won't happen to me!

So after a lovely evening with Gale that I was very happy with (after trying both directions I went with the "tamer" choice, because it just felt more real, but the other one was amazing too) the next morning we had a lovely chat, affirmed our relationship and also saw he'd moved on for sure past the ex, it was great. I was hoping to go get cute dialog with my other companions, happy that Gale and I had cemented things at last.

The first person I went to talk to was my buddy Karlach, sure that she'd be thrilled for me since from very early on I made it clear we were just friends and we'd had like two conversations since then where we affirmed our friendship and how glad we are to be good friends! And then....

Wait... wait wait wait... what the fuck?!? What do you mean I'm sorry but I want to be with Gale? Karlach and I most definitely were not in a relationship? I gave her a friendly hug when we got her heat problem fixed. I'm looking out for her, and again, a couple of clear "I'm so glad we're good friends!" dialogs have happened recently. Why the fuck would she think we were in a romance!?!

I went through the dialog choices, trying to see if there was a mistake or a joke, but nope, it's clear it's the entire breakup scene as if she and I had been lovers for months. Karlach no, I never meant to hurt you this way because we were never in a relationship.

I hate this so much! I adore Karlach! I never would hurt her this way and took great pains to make sure I never would! What the hell, Larian?

I backed out, reloaded my last save, and went around to the rest of the camp and luckily I didn't have to "break up" with anyone else. And for now I'm just avoiding the conversation and hoping it will go away.

I just really hate that most of the time when I've seen people complaining about it, juuuuust like in Mass Effect, they blame the character for being "clingy" instead of the game for having obvious bugs, clunky mechanics, or unclear dialog choices that make "I'm being nice to my friend here!" into "We'll bang, okay?" This has nothing to do with Karlach, or ANY other character that has happened to others with, and everything to do with the game itself.

Hopefully the next patch or two will make this stop happening so we can all be friends with the people we want to be friends with and not feel like we've gotta hurt the characters we like. Ugh.

Robin faces being disowned by most of her homophobic family, vecna using her dad (the only one who stuck by her and still love her) to cause more harm

Steve having his "I CANT FUCKING LOSE HER" moment (frantically searching for her favourite song only to realise their mixtape is at her house)

Nancy yelling at him saying "we get it your girlfriend might die but your not the only one who cares about her!?" To which steve loses HIS SHIT bc nancy stop being bullshit that's his platonic soulmate and he loves her more than any romantic fling he could have had in the past bc robin was the first person to except him and ask if he was okay!!!!

Robin then having to face the Russians again, only this time forced to watch steve getting tortured (finally understanding why he wouldnt fully tell her what happened) plus watching/ seeing dustin and erica hurt and blaming her for what happened at starcourt!

She (like steve) blames herself for letting them get involved, she hates that her decoding a secret message for fun led to someone she now loves getting hurt

Everyone is not sure if they are more scared of robin dying in this moment, or steve, who the party is pretty sure has finally cracked when in his last attempt to find a song that means something to robin

Firstly the new chapter of wfrau was amazing! The boggart part split my heart open like the worst nightmare of s is himself as a death eater?? And the hydra scene?? Also the pressure on my boy james :(( How s was worried about his little brother :(( How remus had to yell at s for him to leave :(( Also loved the riddle and how everyone was thinking about it then- boom remus does a dramatic entrance rising from darkness with the answer (i wanna hug him and put him on a vacation island)

Btw i quit my barista job bc they were like a month late to pay my salary so i was like bye see you never! And i had a lot of time for self reflection and deciding what i want from my future which led me to decide doing my master in gender studies (i have a major in psychology and a minor in social work and i think these areas compliment each other quite well plus i've always been rly into gender related subjects so i think i can manage it). You're probably the only person i kinda know who is doing a master degree on gender studies so i wanted to ask how it's going so far, are you enjoying it and what part of it you like the most plus would you recommend it to psych major etc!

ok i don't actually know if you are intending to talk about book!kate or show!kate but i will be mostly if not completely discussing show!kate rip if that was not what you meant but i've seen the show a lot more recently

OKAY. so. i'll start small with some headcanons:

kate is soooo autistic. and adhd. audhd my beloved. yes i say this about pretty much every character i like but with kate it's PARTICULARLY true. (i believe i said in the mbs server the book!kate feels like she has adhd with a side of autism while show!kate feels like she had autism with a side of adhd and i stand by that. but it's vibes based not like, literal.)

but like she can have trouble expressing her feelings, even to herself. she'll either be unable to hide her reactions/expressions, or she'll barely have one at all, and seem unbothered. she's also very blunt and unafraid to state her opinion to anyone, even if it seems "rude". but she isn't rude, really, as it's not that kind of "blunt truth" some assholes like to parade about when they're really just being dicks to everyone. she's still kind, she only says something negative if someone has done something negative (ie, "you are very unpleasant" to someone actively antagonizing everyone in the room is on the table, but just randomly insulting someone for the sake of "blunt honesty" is not. she's never like, mean.)

also shes GAYYYY. or possibly bi, i don't have an opinion on that. on one hand lesbian energy on the other i could definitely see bi bi bi. but if you don't think her and martina got something on i don't know what to tell you. that being said i could also see her as a-spec, but not necessarily in a way that conflicts with Whatever's Going On With Martina. (to be fair, hpwever, one could argue martina was more into kate than vice versa, i could see an argument for aro kate for sure)

green beanie is comfort beanie. she very rarely takes it off. where do you think she got it? angsty answer is somehow it's from her dad, but realistically she probably got it later in life. (doesn't mean she didn't choose it for similar reasons, though... not knowing why she was drawn to the green hat, not remembering it's the same shade as one her father wore....)

also the bucket. i do wonder when she got the bucket. this one, while again a milligan-related reason would be super fucked up (in the fun sad way), i feel like. i feel like it's more that as a kid she felt like she needed to be Prepared. maybe something happened where she wasn't, or maybe she just felt like she wanted to be ready, just in case, all the time. but like. her getting a bucket, modifying it herself, experimenting with different ways to put it on her belt, the inventory changing over the years as some things were discarded or added over time... idk i just think. kate developing her bucket

kate & constance was so good and i want to see more of their friendship. so bad. each realizing the other isn't so bad bc they're forced to work together... chefs kiss. also, the only person other than mr benedict we really see constance actually seem to openly like in some capacity.

kate & sticky underrated. their talk before the cheating was such a good scene. i also want more of this dynamic

i should also mention kate & reynie, which i do genuinely like--the hug is sweet--but i admit is my maybe least favorite of the society dynamics with kate. although i do enjoy the contrast between kate "IM GONNA GO CLIMB THAT TOWER" wetherall and reynie "please why am i the only voice of reason holding this group together" muldoon

i've only explored it in that one fic but i actually think kate & mr benedict would be such a good dynamic, especially because in the show it's inexplicably established he's into engineering. LET THEM BOND OVER BUILDING WEIRD SHIT PLEASE

okay to get a little more into specifics methinks,

i just think a lot about kate like. immediately after season one, and--we'll just. we'll ignore season 2 for now, let's set this in my current anomalous idea of them all in season one (which, rip wetherall farm, but is currently number two & rhonda off at the airshows with mr benedict, constance, milligan, and kate in the house) so like just.

you've been alone your entire life. you've been independent, and you've grown up thinking that the only person you ever had just left you one day for no reason, and in doing so broke a direct promise. and then now, you not only have friends who've you learned to rely on and not just try and do everything yourself, but suddenly you have reliable adults. and more importantly, more specifically, your dad, who never left you but had been taken. had been erased, and even brainswept had never truly stopped looking.

and kate isn't stupid. she heard his story. she knows he must have been through Some Shit. and that he'd have come back if he could. but there's still that pain, that ache, of how long he was missing, for like, more than three quarters of her life! he vanished when she was 3! but now it's like. oh. he did want me. he was taken. he was taken.

so that's an almost identity altering shift in her worldview. and on top of that, her current world is now so completely different: rather than independence and circus life, she's got friends her age who genuinely like her, who she's bonded with through major adversity, and she has adults who actually listen to her and like her. and she has her dad.

and it grates sometimes--she's independent, she doesn't need to be treated like a baby! but also it's like. it's bizarre, because they care, but they don't condescend to her, they do understand she's intelligent and capable even if they want to protect her. and she's never really had adults like that before. not since she was three

so it's a weird mix of like being sort of happy/pleased, because they care, she can rely on them, and being kind of annoyed/frustrated because while she's learned she doesn't need to be entirely independent she still struggles with it. because she's kate wetherall, and she's always prepared, and she feels like she has to be prepared for what will happen if they leave if they're taken from her. she can't rely on them completely, can she? what happens when she loses them again?

and then the mix feelings of old long-buried resentment/anger under buried sadness/loneliness under a crisp crust of i'm perfectly fine, mixed with the new feelings of anger on his behalf, at curtain, sadness at the missing time, at how close he'd been for all these years without either of them knowing it, sadness for him, for herself. but like all of it is still like. under her trying to pretend like she's fine. (and her difficulty expressing emotions, even to herself, does Not Help.)

not to mention as much as genuinely loved the mission in some ways--her new friends (including martina), the adventure, helping people, her bucket coming crazy in handy, etc.--it wasn't exactly a cake walk.

she has nightmares, sometimes: about martina's face when she walked into the waiting room. about sticky's face when he walked out of it. about falling and falling and falling except there aren't warm, safe arms to catch her. about the nodes attached to her face and the long, metallic spires pointed at her, ready to wipe her like her father had been wiped. about her father leaving and never coming home, never being found. about being caught. about losing her friends. about curtain. about all of it.

but she doesn't want to share it because one, she doesn't want them to feel guilty: she did what she had to, and she doesn't regret it. two, and more importantly, she doesn't want them to not let her come on the next mission. (kate had already kind of had the idea that they would have another--they were a team! teams didn't just split up!--but now she's sure of it. curtain's still out there, after all, and he didn't seem the type to just give up.)

i think maybe constance might bully her into talking about it--we already know she can feel dreams (with her comment about sticky dreaming about steak and sticky asking her how she knew that) and as they're on a more even ground she'd be more likely to actually say something. but constance would poke at her about it and probably get her irritated in the process.

(also possible, she talks to mr benedict about this, bc again im a sucker for their dynamic + part of the problem is not wanting to hurt milligan's feelings, and one thing i like about this is i think mr benedict would be extremely kind and understanding about it, and really help like, gently guide her through it, and she'd be like wow adults have never actually helped me before, wild, and then the second she leaves he's like [collapsing into a mess] oh god. oh god. because on one hand he just desperately hopes that helped, and on the other hand, he's having a million crises. oh god. he put actual kids in danger. she's so small number two. number two she's so fucking small and she's having nightmares and it's my brother that took her dad and ohmygodohmygodohmygod. like literally it's like he goes from "kalm" to "PANIK" the second shes out of range. like the dissonance between mr benedict (around the kids, a calm and kindly mentor who seems to know what he's doing for the most part) and nicholas (0.0003 seconds from a panic attack rn, full to the brim with anxiety and guilt) is. hilarious, in a sad way. but i digress, mr benedict tangent over, sorry)

ANYWAY also kate and milligan. like. getting to know him again, and vice versa. this is personally painful for me. like so many years, this disconnect between them hurts, but like. it starts with that hug, with her letting herself lean into his side, letting him put an arm around her shoulders, and he's like. in tears a bit. and like. then over time just. trying to tell each other about their lives--particularly kate recounting her adventures--and marveling a bit at how similar they are in many ways. milligan slowly getting memories back and remembering her as a little girl and seeing her now, all grown up but so small and hurt still, and like. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

i also have so many thoughts head full on them & mr benedict, and also throwing in constance and everyone really, but that's too many and this is already long and i dont even know how to put it to words so i'll refrain for now. anyway my point is: kate wetherall. hug her please

I would love a sequel to one of the four sword games that, along with the main plot, Link has an entire conflict with the whole splitting thing.

Perhaps they make it canon that he doesn’t feel whole, that he feels like four stuck in one body, how they may argue and then split as a result, or how they feel conflicted returning the four sword as being stuck together brings so much pain.

I want to see these four feel pain and talk things out and hug and cry dammit, give us emotional Link Nintendo!

Btw, fun fact: in the Japanese version of botw all of Link’s journal entries for quests are spoken in first person and have some of his opinions. For example, the first quest he gets from Zelda (going to the first map tower I believe) he writes in the quest that the “pretty voice” told him to go there.

And the translation teams or some higher ups REMOVED THE FIRST PERSON FROM SOME TRANSLATIONS.

I know they took the first person entries out of the English release, but I hear they apparently did so for the Chinese one as well, and maybe more. They are so determined not to give us Links with personality.

Omg literally THIS. If Nintendo really will make an animated series, I feel like an extended animated version of the Four Sword manga would literally be perfect. It's a trusted, beloved story with strong themes and characters and dynamics and has some really beautiful character development that made me cry the first time I read it (I don't cry easily). Compared to the actual Four Sword Adventures game it was based on, it's a perfect adaptation in its own right!

If I had any ideas on the format of an animated series, it would likely be extended during the adventure so it shows them helping all of the maidens, and maybe have a separate show or season dedicated to what comes after their merging (I'm planning this as if it were an actual show lmao how sad).

The whole ongoing joke about Green being the 'original Link' would be really interesting to explore as well! The whole idea of the others’ humanity and their own existence and the terror of just ceasing to exist once they finally merge would be a great plot point. Though, I think since Vio is away from the group with Shadow, he would have differing opinions to the others who will eventually want to merge, while Vio likely wouldn’t because he's been influenced by Shadow. Imagine a big scene where they use the joke cope but it all blows up in their faces one day because Blue became really nervous about it and, at that point, he has no idea how to deal with it other than to get angry/upset. They're forced to grapple with their lives and the possibility of death from a kid’s perspective. Red's likely terrified but his optimism would likely help the other two get through until they can finally accept the idea of nothing on their own terms.

And then you got the idea of whether Shadow would really die or if he's merely stuck within the merge Link's shadow. If so, then would he ever be able to reform? How so? How would he react to a merged Link? How would his relationships change and morph after him switching sides and rejecting his ‘evil’ roots, after his pretending to be Vio, after he literally died for the Links?

Because I’ve been wondering about this for a while, I found out that up to the end of the Yellow Maiden’s rescue, the manga is somewhat accurate to the game though highly simplified due to it’s limitations. It makes me wonder if Himekawa were allowed to create more chapters/volumes of the manga, would they continue up until the Purple Maiden’s rescue before continuing onto what I like the call the manga’s ‘second act’ with Shadow and Vio as the focus? Or do you reckon they would intersperse them together as the story continues? Honestly, if I can come up with ideas, do you reckon I should explain ideas for the rest of an extended story? There would be so much symbolism (the back of the legendary edition has a picture of Zelda with white lilies and me loving flower symbolism means I know it means rebirth and purity. Take that as you will.).

(Fun fact, I thought the White Maiden was a light blue/turquoise for months until I looked at Zelda Dungeon’s FSA walkthrough...)

I found out about BotW Link’s first to third person log entries a while ago and have been trying to find direct translations for the first person entries for so damn long. I was absolutely fuming because it was one of the rare chances English/Chinese audiences would have gotten to see Link’s direct thoughts! Personally, I think it’s been changed by the translation team for the same reason that Link doesn’t talk - because people have different interpretations of Link and the Sheikah Slate logs would have been the most direct way of establishing a specific personality beyond dialogue choices. They likely wanted to play it safe.

Funny that May 10th is gay day bc I too have a gay based sports related story which happened on May 10th (if anyone’s interested, it’s a little long)

For some background info: my gf and I both play the same team sport (unfortunately not football), and I coach some teams in the youth section of our club.

So on May 10th last year, my gf and I were minding our own business outside the sports hall where the kids train like 10mins before their training started. I was filling my water bottle by the side entrance and the kids (u12 btw) and their parents were entering from the front entrance. So my gf hugs me from behind while I’m done filling my bottle I take a sip then she asks me for some. Obviously I reach back and give her some. And at this moment all hell breaks loose. A random mum of one of the girls I coach looks over at us from the front entrance and let me tell you she freaks the fuck out and makes the biggest scene I’ve ever seen.

She throws open the doors to the sports hall, and stomps over to the youth program manager while SCREAMING about how I was “demonstrating inappropriate and indecent behaviour”, and how it was “unacceptable that someone living such a lifestyle” was coaching her kid. This outburst goes on for a solid 5 minutes. She then demands that I be fired for “indoctrinating” her child.

I did not get fired. She got herself banned from coming to training/matches. This did not make her very happy and she proceeded to spend the next 3 months of her life essentially shit talking us to her friends who play in the league, trying to get us kicked off the first team, and even trying to get us kicked off the national team.

Also we were 17, she was well over 40.

Anyways, jokes on her bc we just won the championship in the top division and she has gotten herself blacklisted from the whole community surrounding our sport.

Yep, poor Itachi. In a way he and Sasuke’s relationship was one of my fave but so purely tragic. Also, it’s funny how Sasuke and Naruto’s friendship was 1000 more important and significant than the relationships with their wives/kids. And some people wonder why folks ship them xD

On the other hand, when i think about it, this is what I lack in usamerican/western media - stories focused on friendships, stories where they are the most important relationships that pull the storylines forward. We don;t really have something like that (maybe aside of Supernatural, Friends (what is super old) and BigBang Theory? but the last two are sitcoms, what is something a little different than typical shows).

i ’ve read For the love of men: new vision of mindful masculnity by Liz Plank and there was a lot about how moden males can’t form friendship with otehr males, because it may be read as “gay” and in general can’t create significant bounds with others and usually their most important relationship is with their partners - that’s why when they break up or divorce it impacts them a lot and they ebd alone, like ALONE. And some otehr stuff. If you are interested in the topic - I recommend this book xD but the point is, there is no healthy male friendship representation in the media and if it is, some people immediately ship it romantically. What is… pissing off when you think about it. And maybe harmful. Because it shows that males can;t be friends with other dudes or show them empathy, feelings, be tender with them.
