7, 9, and 40 for the star trek ask game!
7. Who would make up your crew dream team?
I would just take most everyone from every show and have a giant ship, I guess, but...
Captain: This is always super tough but since I'd rather work under SNW Pike I'd say him
Medical: Team of McCoy and Crusher with nurses Ogawa and Chapel, with Troi in psychology
Science: Spock, Tendi, Dax, Tilly
Comms/Ops: Uhura, Data, Tuvok
Security: Worf
Pilots: Sulu and Ortegas
Engineering: La Forge, Torres, Rutherford
Transporter: O'Brien
Bartender and Detector of Things That are Wrong with the Universe: Guinan
9. Which episode plot do you prefer?
      a. Time traveling to the past or dealing with time travelers from the future? (I think the latter is more interesting but so so hard to do well because it requires so much imagination)
      b. Going undercover to spy on enemies or going undercover to explore pre-warp planets?
     c. Holodeck malfunction or space anomaly? Ohhh I love them both! I have to say holodeck because I prefer it just a bit silly.
     d. Ship being taken over or being stranded on a planet? Both good but I prefer the new environment of a planet. Better chance of confessing feelings. I don't like the combination of the two, when the ship is taken over and they're forced to be stranded on a planet. I prefer just the landing party be stranded.
     e. Rapid aging or de-aging? (It's less tragic and more adorable)
     f. Diplomatic negotiations or all out battle? (I have like zero interest in space battles unless it's focused on the characters' reactions and not the spacey spacey pew pew. Just tell me who won.)
40. If you got a trek inspired tattoo what would it be?
A "Kaiidth" tramp stamp.
(No, that's a joke.)
It's probably too many words to look good (I have no tattoos so I am a novice), but I envision a Starfleet Delta on a watercolour rainbow background, surrounded by the quotation, "If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe."
That, or maybe a tiny hypospray.
Now I'm thinking about McCoy getting a hypospray tramp stamp on shore leave, so thank you for that image. (Everyone thinks Jim goaded him into it, but it was Spock.)

LD Crossposting
So in the wake of the AO3 problems, I decided that now would be a good time to finally get around to crossposting my other LD stories on Fanfiction.net.
The website appears to not allow you to post more than a few stories to the same fandom in a short amount of time (probably a spam prevention measure) so I’ll update this list as I’m able. Here’s what’s currently available:
Biology: In which Mariner isn't sick, but she may as well be, and Boimler is a good boyfriend (and Tendi learns a little about human biology).
Enterprising Young Man: In which Boimler has a secret revealed, and Mariner decides to take her career more seriously.
The Real Deal: The first rule of Starfleet romances is to never fall in love with a hologram. The second is to never fall for a senior officer. Thankfully, Boimler does not have a crush on the famous Admiral Janeway, so running a Voyager bridge simulation on the holodeck was totally innocent—no matter how much Mariner insists otherwise.
Costly Victories: It's a bad day to be a starship commander. It's an even worse day to be Beckett Mariner.
There’s Just Something About a Woman in Uniform: After the conclusion of their battle with the Texas-class, Mariner and Boimler have a chat about her relationship with Starfleet.
We'll Meet Again (Don't Know Where, Don't Know When): In early 2374, a crewman and an ensign meet for the first time in a starbase terminal.
A Light for the Path: The Cerritos's latest survivor of a near-death experience seeks spiritual advice from one of the only devout people on the ship, and Shaxs tries to explain religion.
Protection: Mariner has a bad round in the holodeck, and Boimler calms her down.
Carrying the Team: An away mission goes slightly awry.

I know it's a bit late in the season to do this, but I have adhd and finally got my meds so I can put stuff down on paper. This is a list of things I want and dont' want to happen on the 4th season of lower decks. And of course these are just my thoughts on the series, please don't try to yell at me about how my opinions are wrong. I would love to discuss anything here in a civilized manner, even if I have to speak like Mark Twain
Wants:
I want a mariner and Rutherford episode. Not a trio episode, but the an episode where the two of them have an A or B plot story to themselves. They're the only 2 of the original 4 to not have a story for just the 2 of them. I know they're friends and kind of close, but we only get it when they're attached to Tendi or Boimler. I just want them interacting as a pair so we can see their relationship, maybe they don't get along well together when they're not with other people. It's been 4 seasons, they deserve an episode together. (I dont' count the least dangerous game, because while their plots interact, and Mariner specifically tries to break the rules to rescue him, they don't interact as characters)
Tendi and Mariner getting into a fight, like a fist fight for real. Mariner is amazing in a fight, we've seen it multiple times and she's able to trounce Boimler and Rutherford at the same time easily. Tendi is a secret monster too when it comes to battle curbstomping 4 Romulan guards on her own when the mission didn't even come to that, other Orions are terrified of her and while she 'lost' the fight with her super assassin younger sister, the sister had an actual sword and wasn't tired from running around on the planet looking for her 'kidnapped' sister. I don't want it to be a super emotional thing, though it could be
I'm on the fence about wanting any romance, I think Mariner and Jennifer was done terribly, like one of the worst ways to write romance (I'll get to that on my don't wants). But as a lesbian woman, I am always thirsty for sci-fi sapphics. I would love a love story between 2 (or more) women, cis/trans/or nonbinary, even if I'm not sure I can trust the writers do do it justice. I'm just built the way I am. I would also like two or more men in the similar way, it's not my thing, but it's somebodies, and I'm always here for more queer rep.
I'd like to see Boimler and Rutherford interact with Shax more. I know they're not security but they are official members of the bear pack and he seems to have a soft spot for them. I really like that side of him and I like that the two soft but underestimated boys of the original 4 bring out that side of him.
Something Something Enterprise related. I was a very casual view of Enterprise growing up, I didn't watch a lot of star trek just episodes that my brother watched when he got the chance to. But I watched a few of enterprise and it has a soft spot in my heart. Lower Decks is full of easter eggs and references, I hope they have some for enterprise as they had a whole episode about Deep Space Nine and Voyager in the series already. I don't have a particular care, since I'm more of a lower decks fan than star trek, but I know Enterprise isn't everyone's cup of tea but I liked what I saw, (except for the finale)
Something the series always does really good is introducing or reintroducing different alien races that they don't really do any more on the live action because makeup and cgi take time and money and even then can look fake or uncanny valley, but that's the beauty of animation (not that it doesn't cost money, just that you can add any alien race to any scene and it feels like they're meant to be there and they live in that world). It's just really cool to see the variety of aliens that populate the star trek universe and it's easier to include them in Lower Decks than anything.
Scene between Mariner and her mother. I feel like the ending was rushed in season 3 and brushed off as Mariner making the mistakes. When the season her character development was that she could admit that she loved the Cerritos and the people aboard only to be judged and stabbed in the back by her own mother and basically kicked out of her home. Carol had her own reasons, and I get it if it was season 1 mariner, but it rubbed me the wrong way and was done too quickly.
Don't want:
Jennifer to come back in any speaking capacity, especially with Mariner. This is probably controversial, but it's how I feel. I actually liked the character before season 3 and still do really, but I feel like the writers didn't know what to do with her and wrote one of the worst romantic relationships I've ever seen. I can go on and on about this, and probably will on another post I've been saving since season3 ended, but after watching Mike McMahan's interview with Jessie gender (on her youtube channel jessie Gender after dark, I highly recommend it and the rest of her videos, I'm a huge fan) I genuinely don't think that they put much thought into the relationship other than they're going to break up. I don't think if they wrote a scene with Jennifer talking to Mariner they could ever do it justice. Even if it's just been as a background character Jennifer has already been in as many episodes as she was in season 3 which says enough about how little screen time their relationship got. Let it just be dead and let Jennifer be a background character with a cool design
No romance between the main 4. I don't really like the idea of romance between the original 4 lower deckers, (Tendi and Rutherford kind of get a pass since they were genuinely sweet but I haven't gotten any ship tease moments from them in season 3 so maybe the writers forgot about them) I love romantic relationships, but I also love platonic relationships too and the 4 of them are genuinely sweet as friends. I'm not going to hate the show or stop watching it, but I will sigh because for the most part it always seems like 'romantic tension' amounts to this is a boy and this is a girl and they're going to get together because that's life. Which as a queer woman isn't really for me. Note T'lyn is not part of this, she can be with any of the main 4 as long as it feels right and naturally written for all I care. I like her character but she doesn't have the history that the other 4 have that would make me dislike it. Hell let her date all 4 of them and have them remain platonic dating their awesome Vulcan girlfriend
No Peanut Hamper like episodes in season 3 please. I don't even think the episode was bad, it was very funny and very star trek. The issue is that when the older shows did the bizzaro/lower decks/character we never thought of episodes, they had over 20 episodes in their seasons, and I believe were 40 minutes long, (it's been so long since I've seen older live action star trek), they had time to do these episodes without taking time form the plot or the characters that we love. Lower decks has 10 episodes a season like SNW, as is the modern season for networks. 1/10 of the time of the season devoted to a character that some might consider annoying feels like a huge waste in a short season. I know they're probably setting up something for this season's finale or next seasons plot like since Peanut Hamper went to the Daystrom institute with the other evil super intelligences, but it still felt like a lot of time to spend on her when there was to flesh out with characters I liked.
This is all for me for now, I'd like to get peoples opinons on this and honestly anything for lower decks. I like talking with other fans even if it's just through reblogs and replies

But you don’t listen, when Civil War happens you are at the compound when Clint tries to recruit Wanda (you distract Vision for them to leave). You are back in the city when you find out about the fight in Germany and the arrests. Once the accords get overturned, you go back to the compound where Natasha brings Yelena.

Regarding Lower Decks. How many headcanons do you have about Billups? I’d love to hear them. I have tons about Tendi and Rutherford myself (yes they’re my favourite characters, I see a lot of myself in them). I’m just curious.
Alright, buckle up, because I have a lot.
One time, a federation starship had to rescue the Monaveen. Andy became fascinated by the engineers working to repair the ship. The chief engineer, a Denobulan, saw how fascinated he was and offered to give Andy a tour of her starship. He was hooked on Starfleet ever since.
He would commonly sneak away from his mother and climb over the castle walls to see the engineers (blacksmiths) work on the Royal starships.
He was assigned to the USS Enterprise D when he was either an ensign or a cadet. He actually stayed on board for quite a while. (I came up with this from his lines "Mark Twain's got a gun!" and "Tasha no! The garbage bags behind you! l)
It was Wesley Crusher that gave him the nickname Andy, because nobody could pronounce Andarithio correctly (even in the episode it's pronounced several different ways).
Billups freaks out over blood, burns, bugs, very strong smelling food, high pitched noises, any kind of random surprises, and people randomly touching him.
Despite him normally freaking out over blood and burns, he is able to go into autopilot in engineering, especially if the ship is in battle. He also has a very high pain tolerance. There's been several times after something happened in engineering where he walks out unaware of how injured he is.
Immediately after the events of No Small Parts, he raced into engineering and evacuated all the other engineers that way he could try and stabilize the warp core. He was successful, but he got severe radiation sickness and had to take it easy for a while. (That's also my explanation for why he's not really in season 2 until the end)
Andy presses his uniform and polishes his pips and combadge every night.
His main source of stress relief, besides engineering a solution to a problem, is working out. That is why he is so ripped.
And that's it, I'm sure I will come up with more later, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I find your tagging system fascinating /pos would you care to elaborate on/explain it?
Oh well tbh its mostly just for my own refrence, the majority are inspiration stuff for various ttrpg games id like to run some day. This'll probably ruin the mystique, but here's some of the most common ones-
Dungeonpunk- more of an aesthetic or vibe, for the sort of stuff i think would be neat to see in a western fantasy style game like DnD. Sort of a mix of eastern artist's take on the genre, stuff like fromsoft games or old fantasy anime and rpgs, plus that sort of casually anachronistic vibe. Ive described the energy as being like, dungeon crawling with a sword and shield, but while also wearing a hoodie and sneakers. Saved for inspiration not just for dnd, but other ttrpgs like Fellowship, Dungeon Bitches and more.
Motw- Monster of the Week, a ttrpg you may be familiar with based on urban fantasy mystery series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Supernatural. Two of my other tags, Curiosity and Pierce Cove, are for different campaign ideas ive got. Curiosity is set in a small tourist trap town of the same name in the middle of the Nevada desert, and takes inspiration from stuff like Resident Evil, The X-Files, and the SCP Foundation. Pierce Cove is set in a dying east coast town beset by mysterious fog and missing persons, inspired by Stephen King's It, Silent Hill and The Magnus Archives
GBG- Ghoul-B-Gone, a Ghostbusters-pastiche short story i wrote a while back and still consider expanding on
Apocalypse World- inspiration for a campaign of the post-apocalyptic ttrpg of the same name. My particular idea is for a world plagued by creeping, ever expanding masses of meat and flesh, taking inspiration from TWD, Mad Max, Annihilation, and Dogscape
Strain- personal project, sort of a biopunk bodyhorror version of shonen battle anime like One Piece or MHA
Tendies- inspiration for a game of Tendencies: Spirits and Glamour, a ttrpg created by a friend meant to emulate battle anime like those mentioned above, but especially Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Also my de-facto fashion tag.
Masks- for teen superhero ttrpg Masks: The Next Generation. Also a general purpose superhero universe and worldbuilding inspo tag
Lancer- Started out as a tag for the mech ttrpg Lancer, but became a general purpose mech, robot, spaceship and cyberpunk tag.
WoD- World of Darkness, well-known urban fantasy ttrpg brand. Im more compelled by the worldbuilding than anything else, and while vampires and werewolves are what the setting is more famous for, im mostly interested in Changeling the Lost and Promethean the Created, as well as the fan games Genius the Transgression and Leviathan the Tempest.
Mons- a general category for funny monster befriending and catching, digimon and pokemon esque stuff. I put stuff here that inspires my ideas for two radically different games, Animon and Monsters And Other Childish Things, so the tone might rapidly oscillate
Voidheart- inspo for Persona-inspired ttrpg Voidheart Symphony. Debated creating a tag for this one for a while, as i used to just fold it into other tags like Motw, Tendies and Dungeonpunk
Slasher- honestly just a tag for slashers, im just kinda intrigued by the idea of them as a monster archetype in the same vein as vampires and werewolves and such
I may have missed some, or left out the most self explanatory ones. Hope that clears stuff up, sorry if it was a long and unfulfilling read!

Thoughts on my brewing Mariner/T'Lyn fic
I keep putting off talking about this, but hey, it's my day off, so I have time. Here's what I have in mind for the fic. I'll put it under a cut for courtesy. Read if you dare. It's long. I'm kind of working through it as I write it.
I know I have talked about this before, so if you read something you've read before, apologies in advance.
I'll start with the original idea. T'Lyn, aware of the danger of Starfleet away missions (and just living on the ship, apparently), asks Mariner to train her in combat. Mariner agreed, if T'Lyn teaches her the nerve pinch.
The very first version of this idea had the punchline of T'Lyn not knowing the nerve pinch, so it was deception for her own gain. It was a simple gag. Maybe not the best characterization, though.
I eventually changed it to T'Lyn admitting that she didn't know the pinch, but they could try to learn it together. Bonding experience, so nice. Still funny to think of Mariner getting "tricked." Also, Vulcans aren't supposed to lie, I guess? I'm sure they can use loopholes.
Canon made this version impossible. Also, from her fighting stance in "Empathalogical Fallacies," it looks like T'Lyn isn't COMPLETELY defenseless. Not that she might not still want training, of course, hence why this idea is still viable with tweaks.
So, then the idea evolved into Mariner wanting to build up her resistance to the nerve pinch, “for reasons.” So, instead of combat training, it would be stealth training, because she would insist that T’Lyn try to sneak up on her throughout the day and try to pinch her. I still like this idea, and it might be what I end up doing. I changed it from learning the nerve pinch itself because I've decided that it's something that Mariner just can't do for whatever reason.
But if I DID still do the combat training, what form would it take? This is still a mystery. Another reason I'm second-guessing the combat training is because I don't really know anything about combat, so it probably wouldn't end up very good.
That being said, I came to a realization yesterday. I was a little sleep deprived, and I was riding my bike to work. Sleep deprivation combined with road brain to reveal a truth to me. Why would T'Lyn ask Mariner for training? Yes, she might have read about it in her file, and we know she reads files. However, she hasn't witnessed Mariner's combat prowess firsthand yet. She HAS, however, witnessed TENDI'S. Now, I think T'Lyn knows it's a touchy subject for Tendi, but she might ask anyway, if she can properly frame the question as education and friendly sparring rather than combat. So, either T'Lyn would just ask Tendi, or she would ask both of them instead of just Mariner. GIRL SPAAAR!
And this is the scenario I currently have in my brain: T'Lyn has made a holodeck recreation of her encounter with the Betazoids. She's trying to figure out where she went wrong in order to correct herself for future battles. She asks Mariner and Tendi to observe and give their impressions. I imagine T'Lyn as something of a perfectionist, and she will obsess over this in her quiet way.
This might become two different ficlets at this point. First with the nerve pinch resistance training, second with the holodeck Betazoid attack. Maybe combine them into two chapters? Or better to keep them separate, perhaps.
I guess that's everything that's in my head at the moment. I really need to start writing the damn thing/things. Maybe just start one and try to figure it out as I go, even if I'm more of a planner.
If you read all that, bless you.

It's finally Thursday! So: Lower Decks Liveblog time!!
Who is the narrator's voice this time? The director, perhaps? :P Starfleet Academy!! That moment when you know it before the text comes on. And Sito!! Aw, Wesley!!! Aw, baby Mariner, kiddo!!! And the one name nobody remembers. :P Also god, those kids and the four-way friendship... Back in the present, Locarno, so much bullshit, considering how you've treated her before... Oh you fucking asshole, 'junior member'?!?! Soo, how the fuck did you steal all those ships. A fucking D'Deridex, those are HUGE. Tell us about V'ger. C'mon. Oh god please tell me Freeman is trusting Mariner on this. Please tell me this is what last season's finale was the set up for. The Tom Paris line is a bit much, esp. 2 times in a row; "the Maquis would like a word" is great though! Holy shit, Mariner, way to go!!! Aw, T'Lyn! Good anthropologist!! And the depts checking in! Annnd we're pirating, right, Tendi? :P U.S.S. Passaro, stealing your mom's command codes, Beckett? :P Barter by combat, hehehe ^^ And Migleemo, I KNEW IT, he was so out of place in that lineup and had like exactly one moment to shine all season! MARINER DIPLOMANCY FOR THE WIN OFC YOU KNOW THE FERENGI! Like even with the fail, legit good try!
also damn, the "one weakness" plan failing? :P And way to raise the stakes, writers. The ship can't stay in Orion hands, but Tendi?.. Y'know, if any Trek could pull this off well, it's yours. Also not too extremely likely, but hell, who knows? ...The D'Deridex in hiding, you can always count on cloaks! Ooh, Livik comeback, and T'Lyn, lol! ...how long did that LARP take? also Boimler must've told her? Ah, Nova 1, enjoy the ion storm. What chain of command? Holy shit, that's a good excuse for putting Boimler in the captain's chair. The senior staff is making that destroyer battle-worthy; the Cerritos has glorified tractor beam duty... But MAN does it make for a good moment. (yeah, yeah, there's tons of people in the chain of command before him; I imagine he volunteered and Freeman let him because it's his best friend they're saving). OHH even better. Full command away team. AHAHAA the Captain's yacht!!! Someone knows their STO. :P PAYWALL BOMB. Which lieutenant, I wonder... I'm wondering if Starfleet won't want to give up D'Vana and are planning some other sort of barter now that relations are open? "Everyone, shut up, myself included" is one of my favorite turns of phrase. <3 Also "ohh there you are", Boimler, way to go! And Boimler and Mariner ribbing each other in the honest-to-goodness most affectionate way possible! Yeah, T'Lyn, maybe outright ghosting Sokel wasn't the best way of handling it. :P Also, science besties? Why the change of heart?
...yyyeah I was thinking that might have been a warning on a private channel.
But no, that's just D'Erika. And oh man, Tendi's face in the window. That's the face of someone who is code switching into "I am going to have to thoroughly break some bones around here, aren't I." Tl;dr: dammit, Lower Decks team, well done and thank you for doing this, you're amazing! I goddamn cannot wait for season 5, and like for the first time in a while - if I can get my hands on merch, I will buy it to support y'all. Like, you're getting priority in my "life across multiple countries" situation, that's how good y'all did.

An Aquatic Second Contact - Part 1
Lower Decks - An Aquatic Second Contact
USS Cerritos NCC 75567
“Captain’s Log Stardate 59063.3. The Cerritos has completed repairs after the Battle against Buenamigo’s Folly. We’re now on route to the Theta Aquarii System, home to a recently first contacted species, close to Klingon Space. We hope to get back into a routine of professionalism.”
Captain Carol Freeman reflected that she and her crew were lucky to have got out of the situation with the Aledo with the Cerritos more or less intact. She emerged onto the Bridge. “Time to system?” she asked.
“Two hours, 47 minutes,” Commander Ransom reported.
T’Lyn entered the conference room and saw that she was the first there. That was good. It meant that she had time to look over her notes again, and ensure that they were clear and concise. “Personal Log. Cerritos has entered the Theta Aquarii System, containing an M-Class Planet that may be considered the opposite of Vulcan as it’s surface is almost entirely covered in Ocean. The humanoids are…” She was interrupted as the door opened, admitting her colleague, D’Vana Tendi.
“T’Lyn!” Tendi called out. “This is exciting!” she added while throwing her hands about.
“That isn’t a word I would use,” T’Lyn retorted. “’Intriguing’ would be more appropriate.”
“I suppose you could say that. But I would say interesting and another Vulcan would say ‘fascinating’…”
T’Lyn rolled her eyes. Tendi’s rambling was, distracting, at the best of times. “You interrupted my log entry.”
 “Oh, sorry. You can continue.”
She pressed resume on the PADD. “The humanoids are aquatic, resembling the Merfolk of ancient Human myths and legends. They live mostly in the water, with the various islands given over to what industry cannot be conducted under the waves. Upon arrival Cerritos will conduct the usual Second Contact procedures, while Ensign Tendi and I will assist with the addition of their biological knowledge of their planet, along with their astronomical knowledge of their system, to that of the Federation, as a basis point for future dual surveys.” She paused.
“Log complete.”
“That’s not all we’ll be doing,” Tendi said.
 “Certainly not.”
D’Vana Tendi looked out of the window of the conference room and saw that Cerritos had dropped out of warp and was approaching Theta Aquarii II. She supposed that she needed to find out the most common local name for it, before anything else. She was certain she would learn it before too long.
“We’re being hailed by at least three different stations, Captain,” Lieutenant Shax reported.
“Find the one the Rhea contacted,” Captain Freeman ordered.
“Yes, sir,” Shax said. “Wait, there’s a Klingon Bird of Prey entering the system!”
 “What!”
 “They’re hailing,” Shax said.
 “On Screen!” the captain ordered.
“This is Captain Ma’ah of the Klingon Ship Che’Ta, to the Federation Starship in this system. I request permission to come alongside.”
“This is Captain Carol Freeman, of the USS Cerritos, Permission granted.”
 “Acknowledged, Che’Ta out.”
“Something’s certainly happening,” Commander Jack Ransom commented.
 “I agree.” Freeman said.
“I have found the station, Captain,” Shax said.
“Good,” the Captain said. “Ensign Boimler! Prepare for docking.”
“Aye, Captain,” Ensign Bradward Boimler said.
  IKS Che’Ta
Captain Ma’ah brought up the information on the planet on his PADD. It was certainly interesting that there was an almost entirely aquatic civilisation.
“The Cerritos has docked,” his first officer reported.
“Request docking clearance at the same station.”
 “Yes, Captain.”
  USS Cerritos
“The Che’ta has also docked,” Ensign Barnes reported.
“Inform Captain Ma’ah that I’ll meet him on the station.”
Ensign Beckett Mariner looked over the information on the PADD. The planet was certainly interesting, its history especially, but she was more concerned with the current situation, as she usually was during a second contact mission. Suddenly, as she turned a corner, she ran into someone. “Oh! Sorry,” she said.
“You!” It was Jennifer sh’Rayan, her ex-girlfriend.  She was looking at her with hatred.
“Um, It was an accident,” Beckett dissembled.
 “That’s not my point.”
“I know that. Now’s not the time,” she didn’t want to be late!
“It’s never the time is it?”
Beckett wasn’t sure what she was talking about. But she had to go, so she ran off.
Jennifer turned away after Beckett ran off. She didn’t know why she had got involved with her. She stopped the line of thought before it went further. She had already spent a lot of time and mental energy on it.
Captain Freeman and Commander Ransom approached the airlock, where Cerritos was docked to the station. Ransom checked his PADD again. “It says nothing about needing environmental suits on the station.”
“Well, they do have lungs as well as gills, so there is free air on the station.”
“I guess that on a world where everything swims, I would have thought that nothing would have lungs.”
“A quirk I guess,” the Captain said as the airlock door opened.
They stepped through and saw that there was a raft next to the airlock. In the water were two assistants. “Welcome to Eali Toromi Station. Please follow us,” they said in unison.
“Thank you,” Captain Freeman responded as she and her first officer boarded the raft.
  Eali Toromi Station
Captain Ma’ah emerged from Che’ta onto the station. He saw an assistant waiting next to a raft. “Welcome to Eali Toromi Station. Please follow me.”
 “In the raft?” he asked.
“You can swim if you want, but otherwise you’d have to use the raft,” the assistant said nervously.
Ma’ah sighed inwardly. Most other races were intimidated by Klingons. These ‘Acquarii’, as the Starfleet crew had dubbed them, were no exception.
“I can use the raft,” he said.
“Thank you,” the assistant said with a bowing motion and a splash with her tail fluke.
