ok since people r very into my chris fic i shall share some of my random behind the scenes thoughts while writing it:

adriana has literally been waiting her entire life for her obviously gay older brother who joined the army to avoid his wife and then moved to los angeles to be a sexy firefighter to COME OUT ALREADY and by the time we meet her in this fic she is like Vibrating with the need to be like EDDIE IS GAYYYYYYY ARE YOU PEOPLE BLIND??? which is why it takes like absolutely zero prodding from chris for her to spill all of eddie's business. i think when eddie was little he was a very obviously gay little boy and as he grew up he learned how to Be Normal but adriana never forgot and she's like deeply sad about it.

chris is So fucking miserable at his grandparents' house he misses video games so bad. i couldn't find a way to really incorporate this without it feeling like a cheap "look he's a TEEN BOY" thing but yeah the second he gets back home he is slamming that headset on and gaming until eddie tells him he has to take a break or he'll burn his eyes out of his sockets.

there are a Lot of songs on buck and eddie's joint depression playlist that i listed and then cut for practicality's sake but if there's any like interest in that i could maybe put together + link the full playlist for y'all?

buck's "maddie" playlist is entirely music he listened to growing up bc it makes him think of her. as a younger sibling my music taste from birth to like. age fifteen ish. was just wholly whatever my older sister listened to and i think buck is the same way. i don't think buck necessarily listens to this playlist on his own very often but if he's hanging out with maddie and/or babysitting jee-yun he'll put it on because it makes him happy to enjoy some 90s/00s nostalgia with his best girls. sometimes he'll play it in the car when he's driving chris somewhere because he wants to carry forward some of those good memories he has with maddie with chris.

buck and eddie's texts were written in order to coincide with each other! eddie texts more frequently than buck but i think if you pay attention you can sometimes tell which days buck Also sent chris a text bc they match. some of them were sent specifically in the wake of very emotionally taxing shifts where they both wanted so badly to call chris and beg him to come home but they knew that wouldn't go well and they didn't want to make chris feel guilty so they tried to play it cool.

speaking of buck and eddie: i don't think that eddie's conversation with chris is necessarily the First step in eddie realizing he's gay or moving toward something romantic with buck. keep in mind that chris has been gone for at least two weeks by the time he talks to either of them, and buck and eddie spend the vast majority of their time together. this fic is restricted to chris' pov, and he has no way of knowing whether, say, buck and tommy broke up, or whether his dad has been thinking about some things differently since he's been gone. buck and eddie Also have to spend twelve hours in a car together just the two of them between the end of the fic and their reunion with chris. this is not me saying that buck and tommy DID break up or that buddie got together while chris was away (i don't actually have a solid "canon" for where they're at), just that i intentionally left space for a wide range of possibilities due to chris' limited knowledge of what's going on with them!!

i kinda intentionally did not delve too deeply into the psychology of the diaz parents here because i think their behavior is a bit inscrutable to chris. the vast majority of his memories of them are from when he was really little, and therefore i think he doesn't actually know them very well as people. he knows that there's some tension between them and eddie, but prior to this fic he never really bothered to question Why. all he knows is that his grandparents will probably come and get him if he calls, and that it'll hurt his dad's feelings, and in the immediate aftermath of the kim debacle that's all he cares about. once he's in el paso, he starts noticing some things that make him a bit uncomfortable, but he never does determine for sure what their motivations and opinions are about this whole situation, whether they're treating him a certain way bc he's the grandkid or bc of his cerebral palsy, and whether their treatment of eddie really does stem from homophobia or not. at the end of the day he's thirteen years old and i wanted to leave his grandparents' True Selves as a bit of a mystery because 1. i don't think They necessarily know why they do what they do and 2. i don't think there's any one answer that would be satisfying.

chris literally had zero intention of saying anything to eddie about the Gay Thing he just is very much thirteen years old and emotional and he fundamentally Trusts his father to never like. lash out at him for saying something like that. so he doesn't try too hard to hold it back and impulsively says Hey Dad Are You Gay Maybe because he's never gone so long without talking to his dad before and he's just bursting with thoughts and feelings. he's not even trying to do a buddie matchmaking thing it's just that the easiest way to make his argument is to be like (points at buck).

First- his shoulder!

If you're sleeping, that usually means something is true: that you're confortable. Now, considering his shoulder's angle, there's a few places his arm could be.

Aww he's sleeping. eepy guy. He's only got one arm for now.

We can see in the picture that his shoulder is up, so his arm could be like this. HOWEVER, his shoulder isn't up far enough for my drawing to be actuality. If his arm were outstretched, it would likely be more like this:

Which, possible. Comfortable, even. Except look at the cushions in the background. They're so squished. We know about the sofa crease on the previous couch. It was a whole thing. (the sofa photo I'm using doesn't represent their actual couch.) Because the pillows are so flattened and squished, if his arm were outstretched, it would look more like this:

You wouldn't have your arm fully straight because it would be uncomfortable on your elbow joint thing. Like locking your knees but your elbow. Your hand would fall asleep. (though, your hand would probably fall asleep in either of those positions too...)

Phil was probably sitting really close to Dan. Judging from the camera angle, and well... *CoughWDAPTEO2cough* (see bottom of post)

So let's add a little phil to my diagram.

Dan's arm would fall asleep or be squished. Maybe, then, his arm could be like this, behind phil's head, without Phil actually putting weight on Dan's arm:

Yeah, his arm wouldn't fall asleep like that. But we can see his shoulder. We know his shoulder isn't at that angle. So? What can we conclude?

His arm is either like. Straight out, across Phil's chest (which, his shoulder would be a different angle for that too, bc Phil's not 2D, plus Phil would have been unable to move to take this photo or put his glasses on dan) OR:

we can conclude that his hand must be somewhere by his face. From his shoulder's angle, it could be lower on his face, except that there's only one hand in the photo.

Second- the pinky finger!

this finger. That's not a pointer finger.

(not the same pose, but close enough.) Your pinky finger faces outward. The finger in the glasses photo is a pinky.

Now put your left hand out like someone's face is in front of you and you're putting your hand on it, like the glasses photo. Your pointer finger would be closer to the right, where the camera is, right? Unless you're missing fingers (which dan and phil are not)

Third- Phil! (Taken from @dip-the-pip's tags on the og post)

we know Phil is clumsy. He does not have control of his limbs or hand-eye coordination. Ask the multiple Christmas decorations he's injured. It's honestly a bit of a miracle he could get the glasses on Dan without waking him up. There's no way he'd be able to gently pick up his head for the photo. Plus, if he was propping his head up for the photo, wouldn't he do it at a better angle?

Bonus- phil is super pale!!

this photo's a bit old, obviously, but you clearly see the difference in their hand skin tones on the bottom two hands. In the glasses photo, the hand is the same color as dan. The lighting in the room of the glasses photo is very warm, however, so this is not a super strong piece of evidence.

just some 9-1-1 headcanons/plot bunnies

so i've kinda gone on a 9-1-1 deep dive that started out casual and rapidly turned into an obsession. a few things to note, i definitely think that buck and eddie have something (whether it's romantic or queerplatonic is up for grabs but there's something beyond friendship there and no one can convince me otherwise) and i am a strong subscriber to any tropes that strongly encourage found family/families so...make of that what you will

anyway, after binging all of the available episodes, i have several headcanons that i want to put out there (for some reason a lot of them are from season 5???)

ana realizing that there's more to eddie and buck's relationship than it seems in that scene from s5e2 when she brings christopher to the station. buck clocks that eddie has started panicking immediately and ana just like. *looks* at him for a few seconds in a way that just makes me think that this woman clocked that they have a deeper than normal connection to one another. that or she's heard about buck but obviously has never seen eddie and buck interact and is suddenly realizing exactly what people keep trying to tell her about

a buck/eddie-focused exploration of the aftermath of 'brawl in cell block 9-1-1'. buck freaking out once mitchell's been carted off to get his heart taken out and refusing to let eddie go anywhere while checking him for injuries, eddie having some uncomfortable realizations about just how affected buck was by the whole experience. personally, i feel that would lead to them actually talking about the sniper and all the mess that goes with it

lots of potential for temporary angst with eddie having a lot of big feelings about having failed as a husband in his marriage to shannon and not wanting to get married again b/c of it (thinks he doesn't deserve another shot at it? thinks there's something fundamentally wrong with him to where he can't? don't know how this would manifest exactly). personally, i see this eventually leading to him and buck realizing that they're more or less functionally married and they may as well reap some tax benefits from it but you can do whatever you want with that

buck goes to the funerals of many of the people who die on calls that he's a part of. it's mostly people that he directly worked on and he doesn't tend to tell anyone that he's a first responder that was involved (b/c of how devon's sister reacted in s1) but he does go to them.

kinda of tied to the headcanon above this but! buck getting adopted by a bunch of older queer folk following the deaths of mitchell and thomas in s2. he goes to the joint funeral that was planned for the two of them, in part b/c he wants/needs to and in part bc he accidentally took a few photos from the scrapbook from the scene (he shoved them in his pocket on instinct when thomas collapses). anyway, he shows up and the older queer community has rallied to show up at the funeral and they recognize him as someone who needs more found family and just adopt him into their ranks. i could see the 118 finding out about this soon after it happens or not until years later; maybe karen and hen finding out sooner than everyone else but buck asks them to keep it quiet?

s5e14 where jee-yun gets sick? what if it actually WAS leukemia and she somehow ends up needing some sort of donation (plasma? bone marrow? idk really anything about how cancer is treated). jee's put on a list and they start testing family members, none of whom work out until...buck. cue maddie not wanting to ask that of buck b/c of all the baggage that comes with daniel and the buckley parents are absolute assholes about it (along the lines of completely disregarding buck's autonomy as a human being in the face of their precious granddaughter being in trouble), maybe a chimney that isn't trying to be pushy about it but also just...can't help pushing a bit, a buck that so overwhelmed with everything that he's feeling that he goes off the rails a bit. obviously everything works out and buck donates or whatever needs to happen and jee-yun is completely fine b/c i don't actually want it to end badly

the entire 'buck's a sperm donor' family argument and maraget saying "you're a miracle baby yourself" made my fucking blood boil and i want to see a better exploration of the fallout of that statement b/c you just know that there was more to it than it just getting brushed off

buck telling maddie that he has a checklist that he goes through every time he wakes up post-coma in s6e12. chris and eddie being part of that list, where buck is just constantly checking up on them to make sure that they're still in LA (part of the reason why it's so easy for him to fall asleep/relax on the diaz couch or in their house in general). eddie doesn't notice the uptick in check-ins b/c he's too busy figuring out the least intrusive ways for him to check in on buck at all times b/c he NEEDS to know that buck is alive/breathing. once eddie notices though, he confronts buck about it

maddie asking buck to be her maid of honor for her wedding since hen is obviously going to have best man privileges. mostly just exploring the ridiculous that this brings up and everyone joking about buck in a dress (up to you whether he actually wears one to the wedding or not), but i have to include a side note that the buckley parents are dicks about it and have no sense of humour/fun

literally anything featuring athena being worried about buck as a maternal figure, i was so disappointed by her lack of interaction when buck was struck by lightning and, while i'm so fucking happy to have may acknowledging that buck is bobby's son too, we missed out on athena being devastated by the situation as well

there will probably be more of these to come at some point knowing myself.

How would you rate the bsd mens‘s stamina?

At the top? Chuuya, obviously, and Lovecraft.

Chuuya does NOT know the meaning of getting tired, or cramps. He can bend both of you into pretzels and go for hours if he feels like it, and it doesn't matter how heavy you are because he'll move you like you're nothing. He usually stops bc his dick starts hurting from overstimulation and he's not the biggest fan of it.

Lovecraft straight up can't get tired. Whether he's in human form or something more monstrous, his body works on a completely different power scale. You're like a speck of dust to him, and your lifespan that of a fly's. He can't get tired in any way that you can comprehend and even if he did, he can simply switch to another set of limbs and keep going. He gets his satisfaction from making you fall apart.

Pretty high? Nikolai, Atsushi, any of the hunting dogs

Nikolai would be able to last longer, if he didn't insist on going ballistic every single time. I don't think he knows what restraint means, he's always up for weird and strenuous positions that end up tiring him out. And don't get me wrong, he's strong, but I don't see him focused on cardio.

Atsushi my darling boy, another one who still has an above average stamina. You're still going to tap out before him every time, but I think longer sex sessions take quite a bit out of him. It doesn't help that he often transforms halfway through, pinning your arms down so he can mount you. By the time his knot has gone down he's already begun to get sleepy and cuddly, rubbing his cheek against your back and purring, so all the fight has gone out. But don't worry, in the event that you can still walk you can probably coax another round out of him, as long as you do most of the work.

The hunting dogs are variable, depending on what time of the month they're at. Remember all those surgeries they have to do to maintain their bodies? Yeah, if you catch them on the tail end of that they eventually get tired. They still last inhumanly long though, but might get creaky and achey joints afterwards. While on the topic of them being augmented I'd like to propose them having small dicks, since it's a side effect of steroids (and it will also happen when you take estrogen!)

Average? Kunikida, Fukuzawa, Mori

Not much to say here, they're not cardio specialists but they can still last. Who ends up worn out first comes down to how fit you are. Less strenuous portions like riding or spooning will help.

Abysmal? Dazai, Akutagawa, Fyodor

Sorry guys, but Dazai is not the CEO of sex no matter how much you wish he was. This man doesn't eat right, drinks exclusively alcohol, and hasn't exercised a day in his life. He's going to be panting like an asthmatic pug after two minutes, and god forbid you make him do all the work. Nope, make him do core exercises and take him biking.

Akutagawa has a lung condition and is also built like a stickbug. I believe he eats moderately well thanks to Gin, but he's no stallion. Take care of your frail Victorian man lest he be taken by consumption. However, using Rashomon helps immensely since it's not taxing on his body, plus wearing the coat makes him more comfortable.

As for Fyodor? Don't even bother. 0/10. Would not recommend. You can do better.

but clowning on tt03 aside: i really like the build francis manapul draws him with in superboy (2011)!! he gets superman-shaped. i also like clark always being The Biggest Guy bc he is superman so to me kon doesn't get quite as tall and broad as him, but it's close. adult kon could definitely fool people into thinking he's superman (obviously. clone.) aside from the age. he fits that silhouette.

for his sense of style i do absolutely love him having an intense "i have to be normal" phase after he moves to smallville (before that, he had an intense "i have to stand out and be likable" phase, especially in hawaii but also during his time at cadmus, notably like when he had his crisis of coolness and redid his costume). i like to think as an adult he actually leans into exploring and finding out what style he likes (to me this is punk-adjacent but also The Gender is important) (i have other posts for that i won't get into it here but it rotates in my mind all the time. konstantly, even.)

overall i throw out every instance of kryptonians being alluded to/stated as "white" bc i think it makes a lot more sense for aliens on earth to look ethnically ambiguous compared to earth's ethnicities. give em some midtoned skin (a greater population would have a full range of skin tones - new krypton shouldve had Way More Range in characters esp just in the crowds imo) and features that don't ""look like"" any specific race in particular. (i say this in quotes bc the entire idea of "looking like" a specific race as defined by specific features is skeevy at best but you get my point.) also the house of el curls mean the world to me. gotta be curly.

i also like them with some more prominently more alien features. unnatural (to humans) eye colors, a bit of luminosity to both their skin and eyes, a degree of hypermobility in the joints, tapeta lucida for flavor... (the tapeta lucida and lil bit of glow in the eyes are why they actually wear polarized blue light lenses in their civilian glasses for disguise. helps keep that a little harder to see.)

Club Night - Stuart turns up at the club you're at with some surprising information.

Must Be Love - Stuart wakes up to a nightmare.

The thing about you and Stuart is that even before you became a couple you both worked well together. Whenever your paths crossed on a case there was always a synchronicity, you were so in tune with each other OA had called it spooky.

It’s taken you almost two hours to get the cuff on your wrists into the exact position you need it to be so that can dislocate your thumb. Everybody thinks that it’s the joint at the curve of your hand you need to dislocate but it’s but it’s actually much lower, the one just above your wrist. It’s taken you this long to get into everything in place because the stress position you’re in has restricted your mobility.

You know what’s going to happen as soon as Wallace yanks Stuart’s head back. He’s going to slit his throat and force you to watch the blood drain right out of him. That can’t happen, you won’t let it happen.

You take a deep breath through your nose because this is going to hurt like a bitch. You let your knees buckle, exerting just the right amount of pressure in the right place. The agony lances through the cartilage, the silver tape over your mouth muffling your scream as your hand slips out of the cuff.

“I’m going to cut your throat and make her watch as you bleed out all over this floor.” Wallace says as he guides the knife along the underside of Stuart’s jaw.

It’s Stuart’s smile that throws him off, the subtle shift of his lips.

“You underestimated her.” He tells the armsdealer before the handcuff chain wraps his throat. “You underestimated me too.”

His foot lashes out, catching Wallace in the knee. The crack echoes through the tiled room like a gunshot as his leg goes out from underneath him, giving you the leverage you need to tighten your grip on the chain.

It’s harder than you think to choke a person out, you have to apply continuous pressure over a small period of time. You’re injured and exhausted, and Wallace, he fights like hell. It takes longer than you’d like and just when you feel your grasp beginning to slip, Wallace’s entire frame goes limp.

You shove him to the floor, his body collapsing into a heap at your feet before you lean over it, hands rifling through his pockets searching for the handcuff key and Wallace’s phone.

“My hero.” Stuart utters as you undo the cuffs on his wrists. He exhales in relief, the muscles in his shoulders protesting as he shifts. The agony hits him in a wave, pain searing through his chest as you guide him back into the seat.

“Stay still for me alright?” You say softly, your thumb lightly caressing his shoulder as you bring up the number for the FBI field office on Wallace’s phone. “I’m gonna get us some help.”

Currently there's several... Let's just say shitty things (understatement) happening in real life for me, so I thought about batting a few prompts at you because you always make me feel so much better. Of course, I don't expect you to do them all at once, it's just so you work through them in whatever order you prefer (and obviously mine don't all have to come out one after the other when people are sending you more; it'll just be nice to get them over time and I don't want to forget them (I thought of one related to the "Swan" singer alter ego and forgot it TwT my memory's bad lately bc of all the stress). Basically what we discussed in DMs).

All of them are with my usual non-binary Reader and set in the "I Guess I Fall Hard", "Cocoa Not Chanel" and "Kiss A Hundred Boys in Bars" universe 💕

Prompt 1: After getting themselves hired as a part-time model and assistant designer by Velvette, several photos of Reader and Angel Dust in fancy clothes go viral, and Reader uses that to convince Velvette to hire out Angel to do at least one joint photoshoot with them. (They poke at Velv's ego a bit with stuff like "well, if Mr Valentino can be convinced..." because of course she would go "nobody tells me what to do or who to hire, least of all that pissbaby). The photoshoot turns out to be super fun for them, and of course it's one of those where the models are posing doing hot couple-y things. Valentino is PISSED, but gets told off by Velvette. Worse, after the shoot goes out, it sells so well that Velvette wants to do it again, and when Val throws a tantrum, Vox of all people lectures him because he's not going to ruin something making this much money. Reader is basically smiling innocently and cackling on the inside.

Prompt 2: (this one would take place chronologically after 1, but if you wanna write this one first, just add a note at the top). Angel and Reader do a lingerie shoot together and get more than a bit hot and bothered in the process. Their dressing room in Velvette's studio doesn't have cameras, so they end up having sex there.

(Add on: there's one security camera that they knew about, but Vox keeps the recording for himself instead of showing Val because he got off to it and doesn't want to deal with Val getting mad for either of those things. If you add it, then Reader and Angel didn't bother waiting to get home despite the camera because they knew what Vox would do and it adds an extra layer of fun to drive those two apart).

Important here: Reader uses the alias "Noire" as a model, so that's what the Vees call them (they don't even know it's not their name) and the name Angel uses for them while at the job, aside from his usual "babe/doll/toots/etc" stuff.

Prompt 3: Directly after "Kiss A Hundred Boys", Angel can't get the idea of being tied up by Reader out of his mind, so he tells them. There's some careful negotiation and Reader makes sure it's something Angel actually wants, and then they agree to dress him up in something pretty, paint his lips (it's erotic for them both), spank him, tie him up, and top him (bites and such too). Reader insists on being able to see Angel's face, safeword use, and not being called "master" (sir is ok), as well as aftercare, during negotiations. Reader themself wears a pretty bondage-inspired lingerie set and high boots too. After, they rub down all the places where Angel was tied up, check for any bruising, take a bubble bath with him, and feed him snacks while cuddling before falling asleep. Angel can't get over how nice proper aftercare feels.

Prompt 4: Early in the relationship (as in knowing each other, they've kissed and such but aren't dating yet; Reader doesn't know Husk too well yet either), Angel gets badly hurt by Val and doesn't want to go to the hotel because Husk will ask questions, so he goes to Reader's apartment. Reader patches him up (and sort of surprises Angel with the amount of medical supplies they have, despite knowing about their job) but doesn't buy the story Angel tries to tell about the injuries. They go through them while cataloguing how they're most likely to have happened (not super graphically, sentences like "someone twisted your arm" for a torsion fracture) and when Angel asks how they know, they tell him they started learning how to patch up injuries because they survived a man like Val, and to survive they had to learn. Angel doesn't need to lie, because they've been there and they're never going to judge him. Angel ends up telling them the truth (however much detail you're comfortable with) and having a good cry instead of numbing it. They get his permission to call Husk and explain, and then make dinner for them both and cuddle Angel until they fall asleep.

Prompt 5: Early in the relationship, Reader is worried that Angel would prefer a more masc partner and not someone femme like Angel himself, and that Husk only doesn't mind because he also likes women. After talking about it and reassuring them that Husk doesn't think they're a girl just because they're pretty, and Angel likes both masc and femme men (or men-adjacent nb people like Reader), Angel decides words aren't enough and takes them shopping as a surprise (with Husk as a "pack mule" pretending to complain) and deliberately picks femme stuff that Reader would look gorgeous in. Somewhere in there, "pretty boy" gets added to the nickname roster.

hi! yeah i love fabian and lily, originally me and my friend (who doesn't use tumblr) came up with it while fleshing out their platonic relationship. our interpretations of both characters ended up with them having a lot of unspoken tension, along with the affection of friendship, so it just developed from there.

it's important to me that lily have a significant relationship before james. fabian and lily are best friends, and offer each other unwavering support, but they don't challenge each other. my fabian is a gryffindor. where he and lily align is bravery, physical affection, not caring what many ppl think of them, and the fun shit, smoking weed and showing each other music. they're safe places for each other.

i have fabian and gideon not as twins bc their level of power feels off for 21/22 year olds. i already have dorcas as a year above the marauders, so there's one prodigy, and james, sirius and lily are obviously talented. making fabian two years older (old enough to still date lily lol), and gideon 4 years older makes their deaths more logical to me. plus I like fleshing out the world by having the characters we know of at different ages doing different things that are mostly offscreen.

like, ex, i have a niche amelia bones and narcissa black ship. so i place narcissa like 5/6 years older than the marauders, and amelia can be 6/7 years older. her position at the ministry and reputation fit a woman in her 40s more than her 30s, imo.

(also i have a brother for marlene, lorcan, who's the same age as gideon and they're lovers. part of why fabian and gideon join the order)

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? The answer, as ever, is brainrot. I fell down the danmei rabbit hole after getting the MDZS manhua and am to blame for dragging frexiasought down with me, but it's her who convinced me to make the blog and try writing some of my favourites. That said, I still want to write fanfiction with them too.

is there anything you don’t like to write? Character or ship bashing. I'll never enjoy reading it, and I refuse to write it. Obviously some characters are antagonists, but I'm so tired of Jiang Cheng bashing and Lan Xichen or Lan Qiren bashing. I didn't leave the FE community just to see the same things here.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? Maybe it's because I'm an old woman, but recently I've come to LOVE family content. Mu Qing's style of running his Palace is based on sect culture but also on that. And in general I just LOVE good sibling dynamics.

how do you come up with headcanons? Primarily brainwaves. Typically I bounce these brainwaves off of my notes app or Eva before I finalise them, but there's no telling what prompts some of those. They might come while I'm reading/watching, but also out of the blue while I'm working or showering. I do, however, also have a history of reading fanfics, spotting headcanons or portrayals I enjoy, and stealing them for myself (often with a bit of readjusting to better fit my own purposes). I'm not proud of stealing, and I try to credit the og fics if it applies, but I'm not above admitting it. 

do you write in silence or do you play music? I tend to have speedruns open at all times when I'm home, so I listen to that. Otherwise I typically have music going, though I usually can't sit still when listening to music. I detest silence, though.

do you plan your replies or wing them? I typically wing them. Usually I'll have an idea of how to respond when I first see the post/ask I'm responding to, but as to how I execute that thought and add to it, that's winged. Wung?

visper is she/they, cipher is he/they, but they look exactly alike.

about 6'4" tall, their horns start at their temples and curl up, away from their faces, and end in three tiers of cones. they both have large, deer-like eyes, long eyelashes, sharp cheekbones, wide mouths with full lips, and roman noses. their hair is worn short, and in carefully maintained spikes all over their heads. they both have labret and dahlia piercings as well as their ears pierced three times each.

they were joined at the shoulder in the egg, the uppermost joint on their grub bodies, and since neither of them ended up lacking nutrients and they both survived, they were brought in at about 2 sweeps old to be separated (against their consent, obviously).

visper's left arm, shoulder down, is fully mechanical and connects to an implanted plug in their joint socket. it has minimal scarring and doesn't usually hurt, but needs to be cleaned religiously or they will lose function in their hand. the arm is mostly steel, but plated gold, and has small gemstones for "fingernails". cipher's right arm, the exact mirror, is the same.

their lusus is a two-headed naga, and a lot of their time as children involved keeping their lusus from fighting itself

their fashion style is what I'm calling prepmetal; that is, very clean and maintained with the vague look of "metal" as it appears in pop media; leather jackets that have no scratches, pre-ripped jeans, that kinda thing. they're part of the highblood metal subculture, which is basically rebelling against the system that keeps them in power because they know they'll face no real reprecussions.

they have no special powers or abilities, including STRENGTH, but since they spend almost every second of their lives together, they can read each others' body language to the point that it almost seems like they have some kind of telekenisis.

they have an on and off thing going with rereve and acules, but they don't really label it. otherwise, they've never met any of the other fantrolls, and keep to their own circles.

it's like, they met acules and rereve at a store in the highblood part of town and got weirdly enthralled by their equally unhealthy relationship, and just can't seem to drop them lmao

Hahaha so the "physical medicine and rehabilitation" guy that we'd been hoping would finally give logan a real evaluation, went through all his notes history, and decided he just has a somatic disorder :). Which is code for "thinks everything is more than it is and is actually an expression of mental illness". Literally looking it up it's the "we haven't found what's wrong with you so we're assuming it's not really a problem" disease. And put on the note he's advising ALL of the people treating him in any way--therapist, physical therapist, pcp, different specialists--of this, and not to approve any treatment or testing pretty much. This when he's been constantly deteriorating because he's hardly recieved any useful treatment, has had to wait months and months for each appointment that doesn't go anywhere, and currently is having new horrible symptoms with muscle contractures and spasms, as well as constant migraine and worsening stomach issues, and none of it is controlled. The CTs for head and stomach that were ordered a month ago and were urgent then, have kept getting fucked up between insurance and the doctors office and outside testing labs that his insurance makes him go through. And now this will probably make that harder.

And his reasonings were disgusting. And he obviously decided this from the beginning bc he cherry picked anything that was dismissive of him from any notes, notes every mention of mental illness, starting with trauma as a kid, to just any mention of having had anxiety ever. Discredits or conveniently leaves out any notes that would disprove or not support this conclusion. The things that made looking for help exhausting and difficult and un fruitful this whole time are being used against him--tests that reported something objectively wrong, doctors who just wrote the wrong thing in the notes, the fact that no one ever did any investigative work, he HAD to look stuff up and ask them to evaluate for it!

And 90 percent of this I think came down to he was weirdly pissy at logan using the term "spasticity" which he says "has a very specific definition". Logan actually does research on this stuff (which I've heard is something often used against you in this exact situation) but even things I've looked up describe symptomatically what he's having. If we're wrong, that's bc we ARENT doctors and colloquial use is all we have to describe the symptoms! It's your job to evaluate further, not to get mad at him for using what you assume is the wrong term! And only started realizing that might be what's happening because a DIFFERENT rehab doctor said he needed to see a spasticity clinic bc that's what was happening!

Also misgendered him several times. And implied that treatments not working were also evidence, without asking why (i.e. "noncompliance" with CPAP, bc he's been ordered but has had trouble getting a bipap--even for me, the pressure they had it set to ramp up to makes it feel impossible to breathe). Or for having a reaction to different medications.

Basically the first evaluation he had for eds he was sent to a rheumatologist for, bc they do joints, and she didn't fully evaluate him and did not know what eds was previously. And he quoted back to her saying he didn't qualify every time another physician noted EDS.

I was vaguely worried about this ever since his pcp mentioned that the guy "wants to spend time evaluating you himself and looking through testing as opposed to taking other doctors word for it". But he didn't evaluate him past a couple of hypermobility checks and basic neuro exam. He spent most of the time with logan trying to get his testing from another hospital uploaded, bc despite using the exact same interface, it's really difficult to access everything from the other hospital. We turned in the cds to records but I guess that hasn't done anything yet.

Anyway between being terrified what this will do to his current treatment that's barely managing symptoms, we finally got with people who are helping us get a medicaid waver--which we thought before we didn't qualify for, but she thinks we will--for me to be paid as a caregiver, get other home health and a case manager, help getting a ramp finally. And the people i spoke to were helpful and awesome and seemed to be wanting to get the most help possible and shit. But one of the questions she asked for the paperwork was if he sought a lot of appointments for appointments sake, which this guy seems to imply. And which makes me think this diagnosis/coding/recommendation is going to mess that up too. I don't even know what to do. I know this happens to people but from what I've seen it's horrible trying to get past it, if you ever can, and seeking new doctors once yours are poisoned against you makes it look worse!

I did outline my multichapter Wen Qing fic bc it's so much more ambitious than anything else i've ever worked on and I occasionally do something resembling in an outline in the doc of my one shots when i know what happens in the sections but don't have the prose yet; it's usually, like, a series of bracketed statements.

ideas you probably won't get around to, but wouldn't it be nice? oh god so many lmao. i have an entire channel in my writing discord that is just these ideas. One idea I have is a Songxiao no eye transfer AU because BSSR doesn't open the mountain back up to XXC and how they have to deal with that. Also I have yet to write any Witcher fic but I've been playing Witcher 3 and I really wanna write a Vesemir POV fic that's 5+1 "5 times Geralt sent some random-ass stranger to Kaer Morhen and 1 time he came home" inspired by all the times in Witcher 3 when you can help someone and then be like "Oh yeah you'd be welcome at Kaer Morhen"

But aNYWAY a fellow believer in the emu polycule? fuck yes

For Hiiro, he and Emu are not close close but still are very "close" and don't have much of a definition to their relationship other than "something beyond coworkers." They tend to have breaks at a similar time because they often pass like sweets or food to one another because the other knows the other doesn't eat much (Hiiro to Emu) or just only eats sweets (Emu to Hiiro) and they keep each other on their toes on how they care for one another. It's unspoken half of the time but sometimes Emu tells Hiiro that he's thankful for him being present and Hiiro smiles inwardly and states that he's happy to have met Emu.

Taiga and Emu on the other hand are similarly in that state of "closer than simply being coworkers but not super close but also don't really have a label on their relationship other than 'homie'" and Emu has high respect for Taiga. Taiga isn't very talkative at all so they show that they care to one another in much more silent (or brutal if verbal for Taiga) ways. Taiga has taken to calling Emu by Hojo at least and is still somewhat getting used to calling him "Emu" and it makes the said doctor smile brightly outwarldly and Taiga wonders if he needs to start carrying sunglasses around bc damn Emu's smile is so bright

Kiriya and Emu are still very much close out of all of the docs in CR and they go out to eat and drink often. Emu is a lot more open to Kiriya about his emotions and wants and needs. If Hiiro is someone he goes to when he wants to vent about a patient, then Taiga is the person Emu goes to when he wants this comfortable silence, Kiriya's state with Emu is when he wants to let loose and have fun. He does have fun with the others but Kiriya is like this ray of sunshine that Emu has to contend with for the rest of his life lolol. Kiriya, on the other hand, is protective of Emu and is physically affectionate with him and their relationship is "friends"

All four of them do go out to drink and eat rather often, and they rotate who gets to pick what to eat. Hiiro, obviously, picks the places with a good dessert menu and more sweeter drinks. Taiga prefers izakayas that get him hammered. Emu likes casual joints with light alcohol options and Kiriya just likes going with the flow tbh. Just...don't let any of them start a drinking game. Poppy and Nico had to drag all of their asses back to CR and each of them had some of the worst hangovers they had in their entire lives.
