cant get over the fungi on ruidus sorry. i have more to say

its implied that the reilorans are able to survive and farm the fungus, theres at least 347 different species of fungus native (?) to ruidus, and theres also slime molds*. evolutionarily (assuming the life evolved independently on ruidus which is a very bold assumption) this would imply that theres also prokaryotic life (bacteria, basically) and likely advanced eukaryotic organisms in the form of animal life, which we do see! its very possible that the reason theres so little plant life on ruidus is because something about the makeup of the planet is aggressively harmful to plants, if i had to guess its the lack of easily available sunlight due to the constant dust storms and the soil is probably unfavorable for growing. this probably means that fungus makes up the majority of the biomass for animals to consume or animals are much more adapted for absorbing nutrients from the soil/other sources.

i do think its interesting that fungus seem to survive and thrive SO well in the deep caverns because most fungus (on earth, and exandria. probably) are decomposers and need organic material to survive off of. they could be decomposing the crystal corpse of predathos though, which is the coolest idea in the world to me, or they could just do so well that they've created an independent ecosystem underground complete with its own n- and c-cycles.

the fungus on ruidus seem to take more after kingdom animalia in general, since theyre motile (for those unawares, fungus are actually MUCH much much more related to animals than they are to plants, so this isnt that out there) which is super cool. the myceits are somehow related to the fungi's sexual reproduction because we see the sterile mycelium on it's own and it doesn't seem to be producing any spores, where the myceits do have spore producing structures (specifically they have hymenophores, since they are most similiar to hymenomycete mushrooms). so i think its likely the myceits are just advanced forms of spore dispersal and will run around till they find somewhere favourable to drop spores (or passively will drop them as they move) and probably they have very short life spans </3 sorry myceits

also myceit = mycete = fungi kingdom. proof of earth-equivalent taxonomy existing in exandria? possibly why the ruidians call them myceits is because theyve seen botanists dream about mushrooms and refer to them as "mycetes" !

*gaz, the source for the # of fungus, seems to consider slime molds a kind of fungus, so its unclear whether all the species are actually true fungi, but i digress because slime molds are closely related to fungus anyway. also 347 is a really low number of species for an entire planet, but whatever.

GHOST Lachryma Theories!!

I've been at work all day and BOY DO I HAVE THEORIES ON THE NEW GHOST SONG COMING OUT! I need to get everything out of my system in dissecting this 20 second trailer let's go!

First up! What does Lachryma mean?

Lachryma most likely is a derivative of Lachrymal from Latin which typically translates to tears. The most notable use of this word comes from a 19th-century painting by British artist Lord Fredrick Leighton. (Thank you art history) Donning a similar derivative of lachrymal the painting depicts a woman slump against a column with emblems of mourning around her.

Tobias has stated in an interview that Skeleta was going to focus more inward on emotions and what we feel that makes us human. Satanize being about a deep seated love that could be mistaken for possession. Because of this word's connection with tears the song most likely will be about sadness or even mourning with an emphasis on the act of crying itself.

Next! What does the trailer show us?

The trailer starts with an image of a gated fence with Ivy slowly opening up with a narrator speaking "In the middle of the night, it feeds." Based off of the fence's design it could be a cemetery that is opening up.

Next we are shown an individual laying in bed, a very fantastical room design with a blood mood shown through the window, as the narrator continues, "In the middle of the night, it eats you." The narrator's words about this "thing" feeding and eating in the night paired with the blood moon, and cemetery seems like this "thing" it's describing is a vampire. We also know Tobias has a love for old horror icons and has referenced Dracula and Nosferatu many times in the past.

In legends Ghouls are also known to have similar qualities as vampire's depending on where they're from so that would be a fun twist if the narrator was talking about the ghouls.

Afterwards we're shown a close up on the child's face, clearly scared and nearing tears before being followed by the blood red image of Perpetua's mask as the narrator finishes with, "Everybody knows everywhere you go, you can never run and you can not hide." The child crying once again is a call back to lachrymal meaning tears, and it appears that Perpetua's face is lit by the blood moon's glow.

Watching the trailer on Instagram also has slogan along the bottom referencing making your bed, and crying in it. A twist on the common saying of "You've made your bed, now lie in it." Typically said when someone is confronted with unpleasant results of something they have done.

The classic horror movie-esk trailer paired with the multiple references to beds and sleeping in some way also could pay homage to Nightmare on Elm street especially paired with the Freddy Kruger inspired outfit and photos Perpetua sported during the Rollingstones magazine shoot.

So... What does it all mean?

Lachryma most likely will be a song about deep sadness akin to grief or mourning. Perhaps over something done from their own actions? The consequences of those actions? A lot of vampiric symbolisms that could represent being hunted by these emotions, unable to truly hide from them. Freddy Kruger being used as a subtle story note also could work with this narration of constantly being a lingering presence, no way to completely hide from him.

This song most likely will also be the final first look at Papa V Perpetua in action! Satanized was a great way to reveal the new Papa, now we'll be able to see him moving around and more of the ghouls as well ^^

Did I get too carried away and excited over a trailer? Yes! Probably! Most Likely! Did I have all day to think about everything? Also yes? I most likely got many things wrong but that's the fun of theory making! I enjoyed piecing things together even if they only make sense in my own mind :P Hopefully this makes sense in some way though....

started reading season zero recently, and in one of the panels barry has a broken ankle that healed wrong. wells said very casually that they just need to break it again and let it heal correctly. and barry said “it still hurts, you know.”

and i feel like he didn't say that nearly enough in the show. because some moments were very questionable. take oliver for example, when he wanted to teach barry a lesson by shooting arrows directly into his back.

“hE HeALs fAsT—” SHUT UP. oh my god. what if one of the arrows hit a nerve and he got paralyzed for days? what if it punctured a lung, or both, because it was multiple arrows.

don't get me wrong, i love whump as much as the next guy. but so many times during the show barry was just . . . neglected. and that's putting it lightly.

look at him. look at the silly. my little meow meow. look into his innocent fking eyes and tell me why you thought it was a good idea to hurt him like that.

I haven't seen this sentiment around in a while and it's super helped me so I might as well trot it back out if there's someone else it might really help.

You've probably heard the phrase 'gender is a spectrum' before, and maybe you even have a vague idea of what it means. As far as cishet society is concerned, gender comes in two flavors; man and woman (we could get into the weeds about 'faggot' as a third gender, but that's not what this is about). If someone's generous, they'll probably consider 'nonbinary' to be somewhere squarely between man and woman, a purple rather than pure pink or pure blue.

And I'm here to tell you that even that is a gross oversimplification of gender as a spectrum.

The idea that your gender must be based around femininity and masculinity and as concepts is an old one, but not a correct one. Even worse is the idea that even transgender expressions of femininity and masculinity must necessarily be based off of the cishereto ideals of either of those. You do not need to embrace either, you can embrace both, you can embrace one, you can embrace masculinity and femininity and androgyny in whatever measures or lack thereof speak to you the most. People will try to sort you into a box- not out of malice, humans like being able to sort things. But that just means it's even more important to push back on the idea that nonbinary genders can be sorted into easy pink and blue boxes, or else other people will decide they can do it on your behalf.

If you take away nothing else from this post, I want you to stop imagining the gender spectrum as something like this on a singular X axis, even if the axis has a nice rainbow color instead of pink/blue:

and start picturing it with something even a little closer to portraying the true grand complexity of gender as an individual, personal, extrabinary experience.
