And know that not everyone is meant for the front lines either, you dont have to go around starting fights to be a punk

I’d also like to take a moment to address the term(s) baby/puppy/kinder punk. These are labels that let others know that you are new to the scene and still learning the basics. But. I dont think these terms are entirely necessary, sure if you like them then use them, but a puppy punk is *still* a punk first and foremost

While it is undeniable that music is important to the punk counter culture (we are a music based culture after all), the music doesn’t make the punk. Punk music is important to us because it is full of punk values. In a way, if you pay attention to the lyrics of punk music, you can almost teach yourself all the important ideals of punk. But I don’t believe that you have to listen to the music. Its not for everyone, and thats fine. I think it is far more important for someone to care about those values than anything else

Now there are definitely going to be people out there who disagree with me on some of this, and thats whatever, to each their own I suppose. But if anyone ever tells you that you ‘aren’t punk enough’, then they are just a jagoff and can go fuck off

disclaimer: most of this is me being very nitpicky. rose was a side character for all of these appearances so obv i understand that its not gonna be perfect characterization. but i rly like talking about rose characterization so this is just me pulling apart her appearances for fun <3

i LOVE the jason & rose dynamic. im not much of a jayrose fan but since its happening im glad that its like this. i love that its so much "rose is excessively horny and jason is giving her nothing" bc its so in character for both of them. shes fucking with him and he does not know how to reciprocate. they r so sillies

HOWEVER. rose would not just hang around him like shes doing. as much as i like that dynamic i feel like he also has to at least sometimes show that hes. you know. interested in having her around. shes just kinda tagging along and i wish there was a reason why she would put up with him never giving her anything, especially since she has a tendency to leave at the first sign of not being wanted

on a completely different note, im a little disappointed that shes wearing her old costume instead of the new one she has in btbatb/kt ravager. i appreciate that shes still drawn like an adult but i rly like her new costume so im sad that she doesnt have it

shes so lame <3 i talked about this moment a lot when this issue first released but i love it. "somebody had all the fun without us" upon finding a body, then realizing someone else was there and just. starts shooting. she doesnt hit anything. she doesnt even know where the other person is.

my big problem here is that she does not carry a gun and pretty much never uses guns. honestly now that im thinking about it this is one of the only times shes ever used a gun on panel (the other times i can think of being: shooting wade off a cliff after her mom died, shooting starfire in n52 outlaws (but new 52 rose barely even counts as rose), and using deathstroke's gun when she was pretending to be him in deathstroke 2016)

shes not anti-gun or anything but it still bothers me just a little that suddenly she has a gun (hence why i fully believe she stole jasons gun <3)

if i want to nitpick, kate should not have been able to hit her. rose should've seen she was coming wayyy before (bc precog) and she wouldnt be knocked down from one hit. i fear we are headed down a path of her becoming jasons incompetent girlfriend but i wont be too dramatic about her getting hit one (1) time

but other than that i thought this was a fun moment of rose getting hit then jason immediately fighting the person that hit her. toxic girlbesties fr

this is a nice issue for her just because in true rose tradition she LOVES to have homoerotic fights with every other female character she interacts with. the kate & rose dynamic was soooo fun i love it when shes mean to people for no reason <3

i did not like this part though. i feel like there are a lot of implications about rose here that are unfair to her character & her place in the dcu. i'll meet the book on its own terms and say that we're only talking about post-52 rose (blah blah everything's canon rn but this book is very clearly not using pre-52 rose lore) but even then? theres no real reason for her to be ducking superheroes or for superheroes to keep an eye on her. shes not a villain or even much of a killer, the fact that shes "staying off the radars" of good guys doesnt make much sense. and the fact that kate knows her and "studies" her (fellas is it gay to study another woman despite never meeting her) implies that rose is like. a threat. shes just kind of around there is no reason kate should know her like that

cute moment! but also it bothers me. i think its fun that she refused to go since its not her fight and she doesnt want to get into a joker mess. HOWEVER. when has she ever in her life passed up an opportunity to get involved in someone elses problem. to me she wouldnt have even delivered the list of addresses without a fight if she wasnt gonna go along

other than her using a gun again (where the hell did she even get that) i like this <3 her showing up and saving manhunter after she said she didnt care what happened is so her. also i just like the fact that she shot joker

okay first of all i LOVE that he took her along. there was no reason for rose to be here but jason was told to meet someone and said "ok ill go but my weird friend comes with me" its so funny

ive seen a lot of people complain about the "you're my only friend" line but i LOVE it. not necessarily because she doesnt have any friends but because she would not in a million years ADMIT that she has friends. she would rather be shot in the head than say that she actually likes the people that she hangs out with.

but to be fair.... she also doesnt have friends. "what about the lazarus island gang?" the only person she actually liked there and showed any friendship toward was damian, and they ARE friends but she considers him more of a little brother than a friend. "what about the teen titans??" a) she would NEVER admit that she is friends with any of them b) its technically.... not really canon that she was ever on the same team as them. like i said before, im meeting this book on its terms, and rose being a teen titan hasnt been mentioned since flashpoint :( i wont go on a whole tangent about her friends but given that she hasnt really made a friend in years and never talks to anyone else, i think its fair for her to say that she has no friends

so yeah all this to say: she has friends, but it is 100% in character for her to say that she has no friends. i stand by this line

i dont have much to say here i just think shes so cute <3 i also love the fact that jason jumped straight to "rose is robbing a dead person" instead of "rose is inspecting the body"

but im OBSESSED with the fact that she DOES rob him. i feel like we're not talking about this enough. she saw a dead body and took his money. im not even mad about it because its so fucking funny to me

im sorry jay/rose fans this makes me want to vomit. this feels too "earnest emotions" for both of them. the rest of this scene was fine but this panel specifically feels so :/

"i just need help" "always" and "please take care of yourself" and "meet at our spot" "promise?" "i promise" does not feel like them at all. its a very sweet and genuine moment but they would NOT have sweet and genuine moments! neither of them would ever express their feelings and they would not have this conversation

this does not feel like rose at all idk who this is. where is the rage!!!!!! where is the anger!!!!!!! why did she stand there for hours just. worried about him. why isnt she lashing out

comparing this to the scene in tt03 where she's worried about eddie:

very minor complaint here but this isnt even true . she DOES try to run into him in ds16 when slade kidnaps damian and rose gives bruce the ransom terms. also i feel like this line is vaguely implying that she HAS found him (/he found her) on accident before which is also not true given that their only interactions are in ds16 and being in the same general area in shadow war. and also reiterating that shes not a villain so batman has no reason to track her down or cause problems for her but. whatever. this is entirely just me jumping to conclusions about what this one throwaway line means and then getting mad about it

LOVE this. she inserted herself into the situation then complains about it. this isnt her business and shes making sure that jason knows it. but also she completely volunteered for most of this

"please dont kick my ass" she would NOT say that!!!!! first of all given that this is after gotham war she would probably kick his ass just for what he did to jason. even besides that she would not be afraid of him even a little. comparing their convo in ds16 #5 to this is so sad bc </3 why is she afraid of him instead of being a huge bitch and yelling at him

this ending is really good for her though. she absolutely would dive into the water with joker gas, trash, and dead bodies just to save her friend <3

this is more like it!!!!!!!! shes worried for him and takes initiative to save him by jumping in the water despite it being a very dangerous decision and then insults him while she saves his life <3333 its a tiny bit more of her being mean to express worry which is nice <3 its not perfect but its closer

in conclusion: there are many good moments. there are many parts i like about it. but there are just so many things that dont feel like rose </3 most of the broad strokes are there but it just doesnt feel like her when shes not full of rage and going out of her way to piss people off

The issue isn’t just that Bruce doesnt kill the mass murderers of Gotham, it’s that his moral stance has no nuance. He doesn’t believe in self defense or defense of others. If bane was killing Damian and Damian killed bane to save himself, Bruce would blame Damian. There’s no room in his ideology, it’s just as extreme and skewed as other characters. AND! He can’t just let it be his own ideology. He has to force it on other people as well

You‘re bringing up multiple interesting points here so I‘m gonna break those down briefly!

Batman‘s (Legal) Authority

He’s a vigilante. He has been enemy of the force for a time. The fact that he’s allowed to operate at all hinges p much only on the fact that he’s going after criminals and Gordon like him. And the moment he goes after criminals that are on the “legal” side of things, he’s public enemy #1. He’s never had any kind of binding legal authority.

Violence used in arrests

Batman is violent. Sometimes it’s on purpose, to show him losing control and going to far, sometimes it’s just “Haha Batman go punch” comic book narration style. But we also see panels of Batman talking people down, not using violence as a first, middle, last and only resort. And my original point about that was that “beaten up” is still better than “dead”.

Reliability of the system

I mean, yeah we know the cops and Arkham suck but what else is he supposed to do besides what he’s already doing, weeding out corrupt cops and funding Arkham? He could start his own private prison but we’ve seen in other comics how much that Does Not Work. I think ultimately, Batman sees himself as an emergency service trying to pick up what the system itself can’t do while trying to fix it himself. Meanwhile, people still have to go somewhere.

Humanity/Morality of Batman

Bruce Wayne is a dick. Very my way or the high way, arrogant, and a man of extremes. He cares about people, about love, but Christ he‘s not a good communicator. He‘s got flaws, his inability to see nuance at times is certainly one of them. But what struck me - especially in Batman: The Knight, which was why I added that panel and cannot stop recommending that comic - was that Bruce defines himself by acting out of love, the want to protect, and the realization that if his mission is to save human life, he cannot take it. No matter how much he might resent a person or think they’d deserve it, if he became the kind of person that would kill for his mission, he’d become someone unrecognizable.

Batman‘s ideology as a frame

This is going to sound very dismissive and I promise I do not mean it that way. Batman is a character that says “we don’t kill, period. If you can’t do that, don’t do the job”. Like, that sounds incredibly offensive, but those are the standards to which he holds himself. I’m the best, I can do it without resorting to taking a life, so if you do the same job I’m doing, you should be just as able. Bruce didn’t really make any of his Robins his side kick, they more or less did that themselves, kicking and screaming, whether. Batman wanted them to be Robin or not. If they wanted to, they could drop out (ofc they don’t actually can bc we’d be left without any comics) but they don’t. So we’re back to Batman saying, “if you wanna do the job, you have to be able to do it this way”. Thus one of the Robins taking a life in self defense doesn’t fly because they’re supposed to be better. Is that particularly rational? Well, no, not necessarily, but that’s what it boils down to. If they had to resort to taking a life to save themselves, they shouldn’t have been in the position I’m the first place, but somewhere away from the fight. He trained himself until he could fight without taking a life and thus everyone else who wants to do the same should learn it as well.

All of these are associated with the whole discussion surrounding Batman killing, and you raise interesting points regarding how Batman operates and the hypocrisies involved. The last two are difficult to discuss particularly because we’re still reading comic book heroes and not actual legal irl batvigilante. I think this is still a step sideways from my original point that Batman’s refusal to kill on principle is a valid stance the character should be allowed to keep, but all of this is interconnected.

proto gets along with CB and Bubbles a lot better than with Flora, since cb and bubbles actually follow their orders and plans, even before theyre promoted to captain. flora obeys them even less after theyre promoted, for the record

this is very obviously because theyre traumatised child soldiers who were conditioned by both the octarian military and the metro where you explode if you dont follow instructions, but proto manages to delude themselves into thinking it's bc the twins respect their leadership

the twins completely stop obeying them after splatoon 3. granted, they leave the NSS after splat3, but by that point flora and bola have managed to get them out of the "you gotta obey authority figures Or Else" mentality

also because uh. the twins got the rest of their mem cakes back LMAO they remember what proto and the squid sisters set in motion and are NOT happy. theyd be willing to forgive if they had apologised rather than hiding it and hoping the twins wouldnt find out but they didnt sooooo

bola HATES proto so goddamn much. theyve met in person maybe thrice. the first time was when octo expansion had just finished and the way proto was talking to these kids bola's age like they were soldiers rubbed them the wrong way. the second time, proto came across bola while they were stealing something and called the cops on them. the third time was when they came back from alterna and visited flora in the hospital. bola had to be physically restrained to stop them trying to bite out protos jugular. they got one good sucker-punch in at least

theyre actually older than proto! proto is 24 in splat3 and pluto is 27. proto doesnt know this because i think it should be a recurring character flaw that proto just randomly assumes people's ages and doesnt ask ever.

pluto straight up doesn't care about the NSS or proto's commands. they came down into the crater to scavenge, attacked octavio cause they wanted to tear apart and sell his mech, and is basically motivated by the same "i want the treasure" mindset as Deep Cut

unlike deep cut, they have a horrorboros as a partner. they dont fight deep cut so much as they launch booyah bombs until they yield

it's splatlands culture to fight people, shows that you respect them enough to consider them a threat, but also asserts that you're stronger than them and could kick their ass

they are Very offended when the NSS just start USING the treasure that THEY earned, especially when it gets so damaged by the fuzzy ooze that it's basically unsaleable. theres a dramatic moment of proto being like "why the hell are you mad we literally got this to save gramps" and pluto being like "WE??? kid you didnt do shit and i dont care about your grandpa. fuck off and let me do my thing"

the fight with grizz is VERY fast. if smallfry gets that big, what do you think happens to a horrorboros? the moon is permanently coated in salmonid-ink in a suspiciously booyah bomb shaped pattern. they take all the most valuable bits of the rocket to sell and dont even go back down to alterna

as far as they're concerned, they were never a member of the NSS, never wanted to be, and owe nothing to these presumptious assholes. theyve got better things to do than argue with some spoiled inkopolis kids

THEN, the cops....or the town orderlies idk dystopia. Knocks on his window like get out whats going on, we need to search him. SO i quickly get off his lap lol back into the passenger. And the cops are like “what the fuck is going on” they didnt have any specific reason....idk it was confusing. So we were both changed out of our “school” uniform. And i think mark starts explaining to the guy that we’re on our way back from school. And hes like “yea i need proof of your uniform. preforably a clean one” so he’s looking and then the cops start searching his car and filing a report. And for some reason i was so confused as to where the puke came from and when it got there. 

So i was like “i dont understand was that ur puke” and he was like “yea it was me, i slammed on the breaks and boom threw up” and then i realize and am like “OH NO was it my fingers, did i gag you omg im so sorry” also being kinda cute about it. Like babe was it my sexy fingers teasing you?? And hes into it he’s like NO don’t apologize. Your fingers did nothing wrong, i wouldnt take that back, like i’d throw up 10 more times if it meant we got to be hot and tease eachother. So its kind of a cute funny moment, and i did like him, and i did want to kiss him more. But i just started looking around lol. The cops were here, we werent home yet. troian truly was in her oscars bag this season. she deserved all the awards for that performance. she was my favorite part of the season but what else is new

Watched The Void yesterday.. thoughts under cut! Tw for: pregnancy, miscarriage, gore/violence discussion

genuinely good horror effects and theme, but

1.)

A. We focus on The Grieving-Secretly-Relieved Cop Father instead of the nurse who miscarried in the "things bursting out from inside you, trying to cheat death, bring them back" movie. She is literally a reflection of the villain bc she too lost a child and it ruined her! She Should Be The Main character

B. Also these two are written badly. Like when they interact together. In general their whole thing is bland which isnt great when theyre the Reason for the theme but at least the theme is executed overall better. The cop is an unnecessary character. I could talk about how annoying it is to make a guy the main character when its obvious it should be her instead and everything would make More Sense? You could still have him happen to be the cop to find a guy and haul him in, Sure. But he like.. doesnt serve enough of a purpose to be a Main character. He does still have his own arc and Issues, but personally the story works better if her issues are center while his are trails off of that. Because who would you rather wanna follow in the horror movie about trying to put a baby back into you and its a gorey flesh monster: the guy who was relieved when the baby died and wants his wife back or the one who actually miscarried and is still grieving and works for the doctor behind everything.

2.) Does the dog die does not have "stigma against addicts" as a filter on there. Did you know that? The only thing they seem to have for drugs is about overdosing. So the "guy whos only crime was wanting drugs gets yelled at and forced to go first and be scared and get his head smashed in" scene wasnt fun to me dude literally just walked into a murder scene and got blamed for it even after he explained he was literally not involved .

3.) The doctor doesnt need followers yawn. People can have religious fervor all on their own. The cult people are really just there to have a reason they cant leave but imo it wouldve been a bit cooler if these were also dead-alive beings that were able to keep from bursting enough to walk around in cloaks? Theyre still unnecesary and detract from the focus on a father's grief and a doctor's wonder at the human body and life and death and Insides and Meat. but at least making them creepier/more connected to the Gore Religion is better than white cloaks with black triangles? Why are they wearing that. The triangle is white and glowing that should be the eye catcher. Get better designers stop making them look Like That . Also stop doing cults theyre not needed here you cldve just had patients-turned-monster leap out of windows and shit and stalk outside or something. Couldve been Cool

4.) Why does pushing the doctor into the white glowing triangle he's giving a speech in front of work. Why would you stand in front of the portal if going into it fucks everything over.

5.) Why is the doctor not in there with the cop and why is the cop's ex wife there and why is it some grey landscape with a big 3D black pyramid. Where is any of the carnal mess and horror. Or where is the Essence of void in it. Make it a familiar landscape but sucked of all color and joy. Dont show it at all, Rather! Why is no one else here. What does this resolvement of the themes, arcs, and messages in the film say?

6.) I hate that he gets to keep caling her his wife and its all about him holding her hand and etc etc. It couldve been so much better if it was her. Because even if him not letting go in those ways is meant to be purposeful what all that means is we dont see her be anything more than his. I just feel like your whole movie functions better with her as the main character okay i have to keep saying it

7.) The teenage boy who's family got murdered and wrapped up in all this? Fun. Thats a good character to have in this movie, especially as ur showing this supposed stranger to him acting as a parental figure, gestures back to the central themes . Wish his flashback got a teeny bit more time, wanted to see the Horror of what happened in his home a bit better. i got excited when the scene started!

8.) They dont explain the guy who saved the teenage boy? Which is fair, i guess he didnt want to explain his backstory, its just funny to me. Like you werent kidding he just Isnt gonna share..

All that said, fantastic monster design, fantastic horror, fantastic villain. This movie deserved more horror because those parts were done Very good

I relapsed and i feel so fucking stupid sosososososo stupid so stupid. you stupid bitch!!! the last two times ive relapsed was after a huge huge fight/ almost break up w my bf, then i look manipulative.

Since being off my meds the last two months ive had 4 full mental breakdowns. 1 involving sh relapse and another involving him having to physically restrain me bc i was beating myself in the head and slapping myself. He doesn’t deserve this and he said the other night that was the last time, it’s too much. he said being with me is draining. I love him more than anything but he said it doesnt feel like it. I truly have let my mental illness take control of my life, control of me. I am a shell of a person, barely living, and when I go out it’s all based on lies abt how/ what im doing.

So anyway my goal for tomorrow is to make an apt with my old therapist (hopefully she has some openings soon) thus start dbt back IMMEDIATELY. Prior to writing this, bc i needed an outlet, i was reading thru one of a few books im gonna read and send the relative points to my bf abt being ina relationship w someone w bpd. dream 6/8

in my first dream last night i encountered two separate guys. the first guy was wearing the leather jacket i gave to Niko, and i asked him if i could have it back. apparently she gave it to him. but he was super cool about it and totally gave it back and also thought it was fucked up she would give it away if it was a gift. then the same thing happened with a different guy and a flannel, which i never actually gave Niko in real life. needless to say i was pretty hurt shed give them away though. then i end up going to her apartment because in the dream she has room mates that im friends with, and theres like somehow a back porch off the apartment. im standing outside w my friends and theres like a window you can see into the apartment and i see their bedroom door open. i duck down because i do not want them to see me, but she does anyway and comes outside. i confront her about giving away my things and she starts denying it, saying that she was only letting them borrow them, but that is not what the guys told me. i feel hurt and like i am being lied to. for some reason im now in my boxers but i take off and start running away, the apartment is now a house instead. so im running through the streets in my boxers and its night time, and for some reason my mom is running after me trying to catch me. im frustrated in the dream because i know shes not supposed to be able to breathe well enough to keep up with me but she is keeping up just fine. she eventually stops chasing me but now there are cops everywhere searching for me. i hide in a bush in someones yard and a cop looks directly at me and i think he sees me, but he keeps walking. at some point i go back to the apartment which is now an apartment again and climb up the balcony and knock on Nikos window. they reject to open the window to talk to me and i end up jumping off the balcony and dying, how dramatic of me. next dream im hanging with my friend max and he has like 7 different pints of ice cream flavors and is serving them to me and CJ and Kavita, were just chilling eating ice cream. Then Cris walks up the stairs with another guy, (for some reason we are standing in my kitchen) and starts talking about this party they're going to. they convince max and CJ to come to the party and max hurries off to start getting ready. i follow max around for a minute saying that i am sad, but he doesnt hear me. so i said again louder "Hey max." and then he responded. so i told him i was sad that they were all getting ready to go to a party that I wasn't invited to. and then he told me "You're just like an extra friend. We all know you only come to things for the food." which i did not understand and made me more sad. then he finished getting ready and they all left for the party without me. there was another dream about a really terrible live bobs burgers movie and someone sent me some sort of invitation to an acting camp sort of thing.

it seems i keep dreaming 1. about my ex, which i think is reasonable bc they're on my mind most of my waking hours so it only makes sense and 2. my friends not actually liking me. i guess it seems fair this would be at the fore front of my thoughts because im currently trying to do a lot of work on my self worth and trying to convince myself they DO like me and want to be my friends, my subconscious really seems to want to battle me on this one. let me like and be confident in myself, god damn it. darn little pea brain. hopefully both of these things get easier, but in the mean time itll be interesting to see how it progresses through my dreams.

i didnt think the 'andy + slavery' thing was handled as badly as everyone made it out to be when telling me about it. tho from the way it was talked about i had kind of figured the conflict between andy and nile re: slavery would be really racially charged (esp considering nile is a black american and would obvs have Thoughts on the subject in that regard) but like,, done in a cringey 'a-white-guy-obviously-wrote-it' kind of way? but it wasnt that. i mean. it makes sense that andy would be implicit in slavery through the years

i mean, like she says, is that not what people just did to each other in the aftermath of battles for thousands of years? and i really like how its pointed out that it was what she was raised with (in the beginning when you see her put shackles on that guy after the battle) but she also accepts responsibility for it and acknowledges that it was wrong and not just 'what people did'.

i like how from her expressions you can kind of tell baby andy knew it was off but she sets those feelings aside bc she felt angry. it explains how she felt but didnt make her out to be blameless in it. plus i mean. i dont know, the fact that andy was involved in a lot of morally shady stuff for 7000 years is not that wild for me. if you live that long youre just Going to be involved in some shit, and she didnt even have other immortals with her as positive community influences, she literally just did whatever the fuck she wanted for thousands of years

on that note imo copley was. weirdly enough, more interesting in fm than in tog1. to me at least. the fact that andy let him live and he was so haunted by what had happened that he came back and sought them out despite knowing they would likely kill him for it bc he wanted to not only make up for what hed done but also to tell them what theyd done for the world was admittedly more interesting than andy just kind of drafting him to the cause and him going 'okie'

i like how nicky was drawn in this one. in opening fire he looks like a blob man but in fm he looks more like a very nice grampa with a very good dye job

ive hit the picture limit but id seen that panel where nicky goes 'forgive me' as he kills a guy out of context and it was HILARIOUSLY anticlimactic for me to discover that there was literally no context to it. nicky just apologizes to random people he kills. i thought that guy was someone he knew or something. nope its just Some Guy that nicky didnt know from adam

nile's complaint that andy was especially brutal to the guys on the boat... i mean. . , how exactly does one kill a man with an axe and not be brutal about it?

it was funny how noriko kissed andy and the only people who seemed surprised by that were nile and also andy

nicky and joe's complete non-reaction to finding out noriko is alive And Evil Now is endlesly funny. they just left her on that boat and neither cared. i get book and nile not caring but joe and nicky knew her, and they just have 0 input on the subject of what to do with her

i dont know, i get why people didnt like the ending but its. .. . it makes more sense in the comicverse. bc the squad doesnt really. .. interact outside of jobs? i mean, think of the moon landing story in ttt. that was booker and joe and nicky doing a job and andy only showed up a for a couple minutes after it was done. or the brunch in the first issue of opening fire. the squad arent as tight in the comic, and andy often seems to do her own thing outside of work, so andy saying 'i dont want to do work anymore' and the squad being like 'alright bye then' makes more sense in this universe than the movie one

also i feel like greg was Trying to set up a thing where nile becomes the Leader of The Squad after andy dies but like. its not very well done since. . . i mean, nile hasnt spoken to booker since opening fire, (and she only knew him A Day). and shes known joe and nicky all that time, but there isnt really anything that indicates that they have any relationship at all, much less one that's grown. in all the comicverse the only time nile and nicky speak is in FM, and in that scene nicky tells nile about noriko. nile goes from someone who needs to be set aside to have background knowledge explained to her to being the Leader of the group with nothing in between. it kind of... comes out of nowhere.

on the other hand tho... i felt really bad for andy thru the whole thing. well, i always felt bad for andy, but in this one she seemed so miserable, especially since it really felt like none of the others actually.... cared about her. when noriko came back no one asked andy how she was doing (big question ik, but it wouldve showed they cared at least), nobody ever expressed any concern for her, no one even really seemed to want to be around her. in opening fire everyone was more distant than in the movie of course, but there were little moments where she would joke with joe, or nicky would try and comfort her, or stuff like that, but in FM it really felt like they just didnt really care about her. & in opening fire it felt a lot like andy's relationship with nile breathed some new life into her, but in FM it felt like all they did was argue. i get theyre not *as* close in the comics but it really felt like the only person who cared about andy at all was noriko (which was probably also how andy felt) but it just seemed to come out of nowhere. honestly i was reading and i was honestly agreeing with andy that she might just be better off if she did just die. opening fire, on the other hand, never make me feel that way

tho everyone made it sound like when the squad split up it was one of those cursed 'the found family leaves each other at the end of the journey' tropes. but guys i mean,,, this is the second installment out of three. that isnt the End. theyll come back in the third one and Dramatically Reunite to fight some baddies (probably those 'others' noriko mentioned). im guessing yitzhak fits into that too somehow.

anyways it wasnt That Bad but it made me kind of sad and the only Sweet Found Family vibes in it were when they saved booker. also they shouldve beefed up that nilemoose romance, it underwhelmed me. 6.5/10
