Can I request more from Tord’s play lol? I can’t get enough of it!
Maybe you could do a scene where Edd peeks into his parent’s room and sees Tord his dad, very much not looking like himself anymore and looking eerily similar to the doll, talking to himself. Maybe then Edd realizes what is so wrong with his dad and why his mom is gone…
Edd shivered as he grasped the cold doorknob. It was late, but he faintly heard his dad’s voice through the door. Ever since he lost his doll, he couldn’t sleep. Not because he was scared. No, if anything he should have been able to sleep easier now that he didn’t feel like he was constantly being watched.
He felt too worried about his mom to sleep.
It’s been a week since he last saw her. She hasn’t called. No texts. Her car was still parked in front of the house. Even worse, his dad didn’t seem worried in the slightest.
When Edd was able to finally close his eyes at night, he’d wake in a panic, his stress seeping into his dreams.
After school today, he burst into tears in his dad’s car. Every Friday, his mom would pick him up from school and they’d get pizza and sit at the park. He had stood outside his school’s bus stop, hopeful, only to see his dad’s car.
His dad took him to get pizza and forced him to say which park but it wasn’t the same. Although it wasn’t like his dad to forget which park mom would take him to.
Something was wrong with his dad. He “forgot” lots of things, changed his routines, and was just… Different. He didn’t yell at Edd for drawing for a little bit before doing his chores. He didn’t force Edd to eat things he knew he didn’t like. He never threatened to take his things away for being too quiet.
He was too nice. But standing at his parents door, he was too scared to sleep. Maybe since his dad was acting so weird, he wouldn’t get mad at Edd for entering his room after having a nightmare. He seemed to still be wide awake.
Slowly, Edd turned the doorknob. He made no noise as he entered. It wouldn’t do to push his luck, to upset his father.
“I’m going to get rid of you,” his dad hisses, his tone low and mean.
Edd stopped in his tracks. Tears pricked his eyes as he thought, Maybe tonight he will yell at me. His next thought was, Who is dad talking to?
It couldn’t be his mom.
“He’s mine, you rotten worm. He’s mine and I don’t share.”
Slowly, Edd inched forward. Inch by inch he crossed the wooden floor, intent on peeking past the little corner to see his parents bed.
Just a few steps and-
creeeaaak
Edd heard a box slam against the floor. He quickly took a few steps forward to see his dad standing wild eyed in front of his bed.
“Edd!” he exclaimed. An accent followed his words. “It’s past your bedtime, isn’t it?”
Edd could only stare wide eyed back at his father. Or, who he assumed was his dad. His dad’s hair was lighter. His eyes too, almost a gray instead of the brown they normally are. And his face…. He looked eerily similar to his lost doll.
“I had a nightmare,” Edd said in a small voice. He took a step back. “B-but it’s okay, I didn’t come to bother you!”
His dad rushed forward, pulling him into his arms.
“Nonsense, pumpkin. Let’s have some hot chocolate, and you can tell me about it.”
Edd stood stiff as a board, his heart hammering as he listened to his dad ramble. The accent was clearer. His dad didn’t have an accent.
“Where’s mom?”
The arms tightened around him.
“You have me, you don’t need her.”
Edd screamed and shoved the stranger away. This wasn’t his father. This wasn’t his father.
He raced out of the room back to his own. He locked his door, shoved his nightstand on its side to block his door, and hid under his bed.
As the strangers angry shouts and slams against the door, Edd sobbed and wished his mom was safe.
