Title: Skin Deep Beauty.
I really enjoyed this one, especially the background! I even outlined the outside line art to make the background pop some more.
The second slide is the one I drew first, deciding to draw a second, 'innocent' one because the piece kept me thinking of how beauty is sometimes only skin deep.
I definitely had thr most trouble figuring out the arms and how to do the lace. I ended up using a gradient pattern to mimic lace patterns.
I also changed the shading layer settings on the proper drawing to make it look more dramatic.
Ita a very bleak piece, so I added the red ribbons in the 'innocent' piece to ad some colour and I think it rounds it all up pretty nicely.
The reason for the diamond cut showing her belly button is because as I was sketching the body and marking where the bellybutton was, it was too good of a belly button not to include.
All in all, I had alot of fun with this one! It was very challenging and exiting to do.

74. Beauty Is Only Skin Deep by The Temptations debuted Aug 66 and peaked at number three, scoring 863 points.
The song was co-written and produced by Norman Whitfield, who produced most of The Temptations hits. Norm wrote the music and later had Eddie Holland of Motown's Holland-Dozier-Holland write the lyrics. It was originally recorded by The Miracles in 1964 but not released until 1966 as an album cut. David's brother Jimmy also recorded it at Motown before The Tempts.

"Someday I'll find a man worthy of me! A man with wealth, position, great ability and popularity! A handsome man . . . handsome as I am BEAUTIFUL!" (My Own Romance 33, 1953). "And modest, he has to be modest and humble, like me!"

Marilyn Monroe: Makeup
I don’t feel like I am very good at makeup, but its something I work on being better at. Growing up, I was not allowed to wear any make up until like high school, and even then it was just mascara? Knowing what I know about make up, that is so basic and minimal. But I thought girls who wore make up, were not such “good girls”? I know the irony of that statement, as good girls are supposed to be more freakish since they couldn’t be otherwise. This is a strange day and age to be a natural born woman.
I love all things Marilyn Monroe, she was/is amazing and inspiring as a woman to me. Whoever thought they could just put her face on a product and it would sell, they were right. I eventually found the Marilyn Monroe makeup line from Hard Candy. I like Hard Candy as they are a good price point, but have “crazier” colors like purple (as I play with Color Magick with my makeup too). But usually well made products too. But what is great about this line, is that its very close to what she actually did. Like her actual diet and some of the tricks from her makeup person.
In researching and gathering links to create this post, I realize I have more than what is listed but not everything. I check the makeup section every time I am in walmart as its hard to find any of the collection. Let’s jump in...

While the set has a lot to offer, I did trade out some of the steps for non-collection stuff:
Brows: Hard Candy Brow Mask & Primer, Benefit Brow Setter
Eyes: Perricone MD No Makeup Mascara, Tori Belle Magnetic Falsies
Lips: Bite by Liplab Custom Lipstick,
It was a different look than my normal look, where I would of had more steps from bareMinerals and added contouring and what not. But I definitely liked it. In some ways it was simpler, and trying to have a make up kit that was just one brand feels like my younger make up days where I never looked beyond the covergirl section. Days I don’t do makeup, I love the pre steps to just help me feel like I look like a million dollars (even if I don’t feel it). Have you seen this at your local walmart?

The first time I took a step back and really thought about choice feminism was when I was 18 or 19 and I was thinking about plastic surgery, and how ultimately it is a choice, but why would one want to spend the money and go through the recovery time? Why do you want plastic surgery? To feel more attractive? Okay, some people value that, some people want to look a certain way. But ask why again – why is being conventionally attractive important to you? To feel more confident? Sure, but keep going; why does your confidence depend on how attractive you are, or are perceived? Is it because you’re treated better? Is it because you’re pertaining to a manufactured beauty standard? I think I mentioned this in the tags of another post but I’ve noticed a lot people refusing to ask why, or ask questions at all really. “It’s not that deep if a woman wants a nose job” maybe it isn’t that deep. Even then, why are you all so afraid of introspection? Ask Yourselves Why.
