Dryden Fassa finds an unlikely kindred spirit in the former Strategos of Zaibach as they realize they have both been enchanted by an Aston princess.

Note:

I've had the idea for this fic since at least 2018. Here is the Dryden and Folken buddy story that grew from a one-shot to a trilogy. Such fun to write though. Dryden is one of my favorite characters because he is such a cool cat and a refreshing contrast against the brash and serious major male characters. He is always fun to write and I think he and Folken would get along swimmingly so it was great to write a scene for them to just hang out and discover what they have in common. This is my favorite piece for this week. I finally get to indulge in my ships and it is glorious.

maybe this is a hot take but i do wonder if the initial gnarlrock incident, following argument, and (imo) anticlimactic and almost complete brushing off of that conflict occurring between Imogen and Laudna had actually led to a real conversation about Delilah/her influence and Imogen and Laudna's relationship in general (pre-established romance) would have made discussing Delilah later in the campaign easier

#critical role #bell's hells #laudna #imogen temult #dare i tag this with #imodna #and attract the wrath of the shippers #but i do think that initial conflict really set the tone for how a lot of imogen and laudna's disagreements have been through the campaign #to this point (written post-c3e95)#if they had actually had to have a conversation about it that would have been constructive for their relationship going forward #and i specifically note in the post that it was pre-romance because i think sometimes the shipper mind convolutes stuff once a ship happens #like i am all for the “love saves all” but also love doesn't absolve and fix every problem (perhaps i'm just not a romantic at heart)#and also that was an imogen-drive conflict initially not a laudna-driven one until delilah broke the gnarlrock

Thinking about Reaver, her, and how she effects his relationships.

Like Reaver can and does bed anyone willing, he barely remembers them, he has no qualms about hurting people and fidelity isn't part of his skill set.

But I feel like he would likely have some sort of faithfulness to her. She clearly haunts him, he hasn't forgiven himself for what her death, he misses her but refuses to admit it because that part of him is meant to be dead.

Which leads me too my point, I think very rarely, he finds partners that remind him of her. Be it in looks or mannerisms, he finds them and he clings. He'll never be as loyal to them as with her because for as much as they're like her they're so different. Too different for him to be entirely loyal too, too alike for him to discard as easily as he'd like.

He may not even realize it, a subconscious part of him that looks for her, is desperate to find her desite her being long dead and grabs onto it as firecly as it can. He can never actually have her again but he'll take the scraps, he'll pretend shes who he's laying with, who he holds. But its not, it won't be and its his own fault.

Me and my freaking ship charts for my freaky mind

#I'm gonna rant about them in the tags a lil bit so bear with me #I really like the idea of them taking turns “spooning” each other (or just one laying on top of the other idk)#bc they listen to each others' heartbeats since Lisa's dying lmao #and idk where losa being taller came from #but her canon height says she's 5'11 and i believe it honestly #and kind of the same thing with her being trans; i just think it's a neat character study #especially since we dont know anything about her past or who she was before the game's events #and i didnt rly know how to mark Jean's flirtiness levels because Jean flirtation is VERY different from Lisa flirtation #hers is much more unintentional or very charming like a kiss to the back of Lisa's hand or dancing her around her office when it's late #and she speaks formally too which adds to the unintentional rizz #Lisa cant help but fall for her fr #and i think they are the embodiment of the “fell first fell harder” trope #Lisa falls first and she's content to watch Jean from afar bc she knows how important her job and Mond are to her #and then Jean finally catches up tripping falling bleeding all over ripping her heart out to show Lisa how it beats for her #altho i think it was hard for her to come to terms with it especially since she doesnt want her personal life to interfere with work #so she has to find the balance first #and Jean also knows that being flirty is just who Lisa is and that they are both extremely loyal to each other #but Lisa gets pushed a lot probably when other women start hitting on Jean a little too much #and they're both equally overprotective of each other especially out on dangerous missions #but Lisa feels like she HAS to protect Jean more bc of her importance to the safety of Mond #this is just me rambling tho im literally so in love with them bc theyre just so soft and the wives ever #i am the most sane jeanlisa shipper actually #ty for coming to my ted talk #jean gunnhildr #lisa mici #jeanlisa #genshin impact #ship chart #character art is mine
