Ben wil een pakket met spullen van zijn ex op de post doen. Er lijkt een vonk over te slaan. Door een aanzoek flashmob verliezen ze elkaar uit het oog. Beide proberen elkaar terug te vinden op verschillende manieren. Oa. met hulp van hun vrienden. Erg grappig allemaal. Uiteindelijk lukt dit via een prikbord in een koffitetent. Ze gaan op een eerste date die niet loopt zoals ze willen. Dus blijven ze de 1e date over doen. Maar het wil niet echt lukken allemaal. Het verhaal is leuk lief romantisch humoristisch en ietwat traag verlopend. Een goed ya verhaal. Je voelt mee met de hoofdpersonen. Ze veroveren je hart. En je hoopt dat het allemaal een happy ending heeft. Maar het einde is meer een Silvera einde dan een happy one. De verschillende verwijzingen naar Harry Potter door Dylan (de vriend van Benito) zijn ook erg grappig. Leuk gedaan. Ondanks dat de 2 auteurs verschillende stijlen hebben is het toch een leuk mooi geheel geworden. Op naar het volgende deel. Hoop op een happy ending daar. 3.5 ⭐ ............ I saw the movie first which I don’t normally try to do, but it made me want to read the book because I wanted to know more about Simon. The movie was good, but of course, the book was better because you got to hear more about his inner turmoil and learn more about his family and friends. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✂️🥞🐈👩🏻‍❤️‍💋‍👩🏻🏳️‍🌈 5 stars, obviously. This book is everything. Imogen is everything. This is the book I needed in high school. This is the book I needed when I was overthinking everything I was feeling, because I was straight, obviously. There was no way I could be a lesbian when I've been straight my whole life, and I'm only thinking I'm a lesbian because I'm friends with queer people. This book is seriously for anyone who thought that they couldn't possibly be queer but obviously are. Imogen has queer friends; her best friends are queer. Lili is an aromatic pansexual, and Gretchen is Bi. Her sister is a lesbian. She meets Lili's college queer friends and they instantly accept her in her group, because Lili may or may not have told them they were ex-girlfriends. Cue the internal thinking, the is-this-a-crush-or-am-i-over-thinking-it relationship between Imogen and Lili's lesbian friend, Tessa. Cue the cute banter of loving friends, and family. Cue that one person who thinks you can't possibly be queer because you haven't been queer since you were young. This book is about accepting who you are, even though you didn't think it could be possible. This is about finding love in unexpected places. This is about seeing who your real friends are. You know what makes me angry? People saying Becky Albertalli shouldn't have written Simon vs. The Homosapien's Agenda because it's about a gay guy and she's a bi woman. That's the stupidest fucking thing I've heard in a long time. Saying you can't write a character if you're.. not that character? If you don't have the same sexuality?? What?? She is still queer, she knows what it is to be queer, and anyone can write a character regardless of who they are! By the logic that Becky Albertalli can't write a gay male because she isn't a gay male, are you saying that black authors can't write white, Asian or poc characters, white authors can't write black, Asian or poc characters, if you're gay every single one of your characters has to be gay, if you're straight every single one of your characters has to be straight ?? Are you saying that if I write a book my main character can only ever be a white queer teenage female and never anyone else? What about Rick Riordan, who has main characters Of multiple different ethnicities, sexualities, genders, ages, beliefs and experiences!

What about Shakespeare, who's main characters were all different, including cross-dressing women and black and poc men?? Saying that you shouldn't write a book with a gay character unless you're gay (not bi, not queer, GAY) is just another way of trying to deprive gay people of representation and limit diversity in literature. Anyone who says Becky Albertalli shouldn't have written Simon vs. The homosapien's agenda is not just wrong, they're stupid. Anyway have a lovely day/night.

Arthur is alleen voor de zomer in New York, maar dankzij zijn favoriete musicals weet hij dat dit de stad is waar alles kan gebeuren. ❓ #QOTD What movie majorly impacted your life? ❓ 🦇 Imogen Scott has endless experience as a straight queer ally. Her friends are pan and bi, her sister is out, and she never misses a Pride Alliance meeting. While visiting her best friend Lili at college, who has her own little queer community, Imogen takes "supportive" a step further. She pretends to be Lili's ex-girlfriend and bi. The longer she wears the label, the more she wonders if it fits...especially when she's in the company of Lili's new friend, Tessa. Can Imogen keep her story straight, or is she finally starting to see who's staring at her in the mirror?

💜 This recent streak of bi/sapphic YA books (One Last Stop, Perfect on Paper, and now this) has left me slain. It's all too much. I am FEELING too much. Be still, thy bi heart.

💜 In all seriousness, this is the exact story little baby bi me needed back in high school, and I'm so glad it's on shelves for adolescent readers now. There's SO MUCH to discuss, the themes of self-identity, friendship, and coming-of-age so perfectly layered to make Imogen so obviously (I had to) exactly who she is. Imogen's "bunny" brain is a realistic mental chaos of self-doubt and queer questioning. Everyone assumes straight is the default, when really, it should be bi until proven otherwise. Most people aren't given the chance to question their sexuality, to explore who they are, instead establishing themselves in a pre-determined box. I've been there, and Imogen's constant questioning and confusion make her emotions all the more real. She questions if queerness looks a certain way, or if we're supposed to have our queer awakenings by a certain time, or if we're supposed to be CERTAIN, but how could we with the constant DISCOURSE over everything? Imogen's voice leaps off the page, making her easy to like; a character you want to follow to the end. Lili is EVERYTHING as a best friend (and queer mentor), while Gretchen so perfectly straddles the line between well-meaning and toxic. We've all had that friend we realized (almost too little, too late) wasn't looking out for our best interests, the one in the back of your head spinning every worst fear until it became a play-it-on repeat thought. Though she could have felt too extreme, we see why Imogen hears Gretchen out, why Imogen gives her a second chance, allowing her to become the cranked-up monster of self-doubt in Imogen's head. Also, The Owl House, One Last Stop, and Sailor Moon mentions were everything.

💙 This had an awkward start for me, namely because of all the names and identities we're given in the first few chapters. It felt like Imogen's younger, queer sister was less of a character and more of a plot piece (both to prove that Imogen was surrounded by self-aware queers and to show what queerness looked like in Imogen's eyes). She doesn't have some cute scenes with Imogen until the end, and by that point, I wanted more.
