Have not seen Supergirl at all and know very little about it (wanna return the infodump sometime?? spill tea sis). But yeh, fully agree, full send. Like it makes sense to have the good vs evil and have people *clearly* be bad guys and *clearly* be good guys when it's children's media bc children won't always understand nuance, but you can't *keep* doing that because people are infinitely complicated and messy. As the Doctor said "every life is a pile of good things and bad things" Like idk I wish things *could* be black and white sometimes because it takes a mental burden of making a decision off of me , but that just...literally not how that works. People are people-shaped and not box -haped yk?

Anyway yes continuing said tangent, one of the other classes for Honors (not my English class, but something a friends in who's also reading the whole Dante Trilogy). They were talking about how Dante was pulling people's hair and attacking people in Hell bc, as I said, Dante is a petty Italian Man Who Has A Grudge Against Other Politicians and Florence. Some of them were even saying that he was justified for doing so because they were in Hell, they no longer had that human dignity as a gift from God, therefore it didn't matter what people did to them, which as much as it's an interesting philosophical thought why would you even consider doing that? Like even if they *aren't* human now whatever that's supposed to mean-- like idk it feels like it should be more like Bilbo and Frodo's reaction to Gollum: pity and love not just...getting your own vengeance and hurting people while they're literally down. Like it almost makes Dante no better than them again, but it not really that much mentioned about it as far as I can tell.

To be fair, I'm trying to remember if Dante goes through Major Character Growth in Purgatory (beenawhile since last read through) because in theory he'd have to purify himself and excise his faults before going to Heaven. There's also an Angel who scars him with 7 P's (for Pecatos, sins, in latin, representative of the seven deadly sins) and then after Dante does enough time in the circle he can continue on to the next one but I don't think he like fully carries out any of the ones with the souls (which makes sense cuz he's still alive). Idk. Trying to remember.

Pros: I get to write fan fiction of Dante's Inferno for one of my projects for English.

Cons: My Scary Russian Prof who is Crazy Talented has to read my fan fiction of Dante's Inferno.
