Had decent game last night. Few assists and some really big blocked shots. I’m feel like I’m finally getting my positioning and timing back. We did lose. We went down early and clawed our way back within 2 but we ran out of time. Overall it was a fun game and we’ll get it back next week!

New practice goalies at the rink.

They probably could have beaten us in our game this week.

But at least I didn't let in the first shot. Instead, I let in the 17th, about halfway through the game. It was a well placed shot, off the bar and in. And we scored this week! On our 14th shot, with just a few minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, in between those two goals, they got another 17 shots and managed to score 3 more goals after some defensive mistake and me not playing as well as I could have.

But we did manage to score a goal, which was a nice change from last week. However that goal was a surprise as the team actually looked worse and performed worse overall.

At least there's plenty of room for improvement, right?

“Maz was pissed. Artie once again made it clear that he only cares about himself and canceled at the very last minute because he decided to get hungover last night despite knowing that they had plans in the morning.

“What an asshole." Maz thinks. He honestly doesn’t know why he hasn’t cut the guy off yet. His ex would always tell him that Artie was a selfish prick and not worth Maz's time, and she was right.

Maz runs his hands over his face and groans, he can feel a migraine starting.

He's so busy in his turmoil that he nearly jumps out of his skin when he hears a knock at the front door.

“Shit, I forgot to cancel the babysitter.” Maz curses to himself. His friends were nice enough to recommend him a good babysitter,

"He's the best, seriously. My kids love him!.” They had said.

“ It's alright. I’ll just pay the babysitter a nice tip for the trouble and I won’t seem like a complete dick, like Artie, for not canceling earlier.” he tells himself while approaching the door.

When he finally makes it there he takes a deep breath in, bracing himself, and twists the knob to open the door.

“Hey, I’m really sorry but my friend bailed on me and I don’t need a sitter anymore. I’ll still pay you for the trouble!-“ he starts hastily.

“Woah! calm down man, it's fine.” the sitter interrupts.

Maz's eyes finally land on the other man when he hears him talk. He was too busy explaining himself before to really look at the guy but now that he has, he’s having a hard time looking away.

The guy is, well , pretty. There's no other way to describe him, with his pretty golden hair and his pretty pink lips. Maz trails his eyes further down and sees that the younger man is wearing the shortest workout shorts Maz has ever seen. “Oh no.” Maz thinks, “I’m screwed.”

When he realizes he’s been staring at the blond in complete silence for far too long he quickly looks back up at him. The younger man is staring at him with an amused smirk as if he knows exactly what Maz is thinking.

“Are you okay sir?,” the blond asks in a faux innocent tone while tilting his head to the side slightly. Maz feels his blood rush at the sound of “Sir” coming out of those pretty lips and instantly feels like a creep, Even so, there's a question he knows he shouldn't ask at the tip of his tongue.

“Would you like to come in?,” Maz offers, already sensing that he's made a decision that he'll never be able to go back on.

The young blond's lips split into a wolfish grin. “Oh I'd love to.” the blond replies.

“Fuck, I'm screwed.” Maz thinks again.

Got my new dangler in place and tied on nicely. I ordered two at the same time when the old one broke, got this one last Saturday and tonight when I decided to go see if I could cancel the other one it finally has shipping information and says it's expected this Saturday. Good thing I didn't order only that one.

Anyway, playoffs started tonight. We are the lowest seed after finishing last in the regular season. That means we're the "road" team for all playoff games, which must be why half my crease was a puddle of water for most of the first period. That didn't help but wasn't really the fault of the 3 goals I let in that period. They were due mostly to our defense getting outskated, giving up turnovers, and some great shot placement.

The second period was similar, I gave up 2, one to a faster player poking in a rebound I thought I had covered, and one great placed shot on a three on one play. The periods were also similar in that I had a save with my face in each, though the score keeper only counted the first one. In the second period there was a minute or so sequence where I made probably three great saves, including one with my face, and another five or so saves and when I looked at the score board the shot total had gone up by one.

In the third, they got one that I honestly can't even remember how it went in. Then we somehow scored on two consecutive shots, and for just a second, it seemed things much actually get interesting. But we never really had any more dangerous chances after that, and I let one more in just from fatigue leading to me being out of position.

It was a frustrating game and made worse by this team being the one with a few guys who are pretty fast skaters but also seem to feel the need to cherry-pick, especially when their team has a big lead. In the last couple minutes of the game, they were up by 5 goals, and they were cherry-picking and breaking into the zone trying to score. It was ridiculous and annoying. I saved it and thought the whistle had gone so dropped the puck, but the whistle was slow so I had to make three more saves before time ran out (but just one save on the score board for the entire play).

At least the game was finally over then, and the other goalie came by and said he was sorry about that, and in the end the official shot count was 42 shots faced. Considering the ones I was aware of not having counted, I think a more accurate number would be in the area of 60. I was very tired in the locker room taking my stuff off and I was certainly frustrated but thinking back on the game I really only let in one weak goal I think and had easily five spectacular saves in addition to probably ten more pretty good saves.
