thoughts on Bela///Donna?

What a lovely can of worms you've placed in my inbox, dear nonnie. I cannot wait to open it and lose followers (regardless of what I actually say).

Since this is, uh, a subject of some debate among RE8 fans, I will be inputting my thoughts on the idea of the ship (and the possible controversy), as opposed to doing HCs or something for it (which I recognize might be what you were asking for, despite the excessive /s).

This is all based on my playthroughs of the game, as well as what I've managed to double check on the fandom/wiki for it. I know that a lot of people who read fanfic for the game haven't actually played it, likely having been lured in by Tall Vampire Milf, and so I hope that some people will be open to a reminder of, like, canon vs fanon? I've mentioned in a previous post that there's a lot of details for RE8 that are not made clear, and I feel the need to reiterate that in this post. Capcom left a lot of stuff up to people's imaginations, or kind of just hinted at in game or in concept art.

But more importantly, regardless of what game we're talking about, regardless of the conclusion I come to (and the one you come to) at the end of this post, I want to say that I absolutely understand the need/desire to have your own perspective/take on the characters from the game, as well as their dynamics. If a ship makes you uncomfortable because you see the characters as being family members, it's totally okay. Block the ship tag, or filter it out when you look through fandom stuff, don't follow people who post for it, etc, etc.

If you think of characters as being family-family (like, not just "we got married and are now a family" but, like, "we're siblings/parent and child") and still ship them? uh. sorry, bruv, maybe think of hitting that unfollow button. No, seriously, hit that unfollow button. This blog is anti-incest, thank you very much.

The last thing I'll say before putting it under a read-more (for both length and major RE8 spoilers) is that I recognize that I might have missed something, either in game or developers talking about things on social media, and so if you read through this and go "god, J, you're such a dumbass for forgetting *critical piece of media*" or even just "okay but have you seen *small but meaningful piece of media*?" please. Just. Please. Tell me. Link me to that shit. I WANT to know if I'm wrong. I've literally avoided talking about this for as long as I could in order to TRY and make sure I have all the context I need.

With that said, let's examine what context we are given for Alcina Dimitrescu, Bela Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, and their relations to each other. I will be leaving my personal thoughts on Bela///Donna at the very end of this, as somewhat of a conclusion, somewhat of just a "hey, this is what you technically asked me about".

Firstly, let me begin by explaining what I consider to be the 3 tiers of "canon"

In-Game/Direct: The highest, truest tier, the definitive canon. This is everything that takes place in game, excluding certain hallucination scenes (ex: Mia was not really in House Beneviento, but we can infer some things from what Donna made Ethan hallucinate about). Things either happen, or are directly stated by characters. There's some wiggle room for dialogue, as characters can lie, but overall we, as the audience, assume we are being told the truth. At the very least, games usually eventually make it clear when a character has been dishonest. Examples of Direct Canon include the following: Ethan is infected with the mold, Lady Dimitrescu drinks blood, Heisenberg wears sunglasses, Mother Miranda can shapeshift.

Concept Art/Developer's Notes/Indirect: Mid-tier and debatable, the "we think, but we're not sure" of canon. Resident Evil: Village contains lots of concept art that the players can browse through, all of which include notes from the developers about the game, characters, environments, and story. Sometimes the notes make something "direct", but oftentimes they do not specify whether the listed idea is still canon or if it was removed during development. This tier also includes information that is implied/can be inferred from tier 1 information, but is not directly stated. Examples of Indirect Canon include the following: Donna's mother died by suicide, Moreau was going to have his lover fused to his back, Duke was originally a fifth lord, Heisenberg was going to have a twin. As you can see, not all of the concept art ideas made it into the final version of the game, so it can be hard when some information seems like it might still be true (such as the matter of Donna's parents).

Fanon/"False": Sometimes collective ideas in a fandom become so widespread that people start interpreting them as actual canon. Sometimes it gets hard to remember what's just obscure lore and what's fanon. When we get a piece of fiction as overall vague as a lot of Resident Evil: Village is, there's bound to be some confusion over time. That's one of the main reasons I waited to talk about Bela////Donna until after I had recently replayed relevant sections of the game, as I wanted to remind myself of what we're actually told. Examples of False Canon are difficult to pinpoint, but might include things like: Hufflepuffs are good at finding things? The Avengers got along for awhile and all had their own rooms in the tower? There's a number scale for the danger level of ghosts in Danny Phantom?

For this post, I will be limiting the majority of my notes to the first two levels of canon, and will do my best to mark them as such. Now... let us... begin.

Alcina Dimitrescu:

Born no later than 1914, Alcina Dimitrescu was 44 years old when she was granted the Cadou by Mother Miranda. (1st Tier: Canon. Source: A note in the castle basement from a servant is dated 1958, and mentions both Alcina and her children. Secondly, Miranda's experiment notes state that Alcina was the 181st subject, and was given the Cadou at age 44. By doing math, we can then determine the earliest Alcina could have been born.)

Alcina refers to the other Lords as her family once without any disdain (when Ethan first arrives at the castle and is caught, Alcina says "you've escaped my little brother"). In a private journal (located near where she threw the infamous vanity) she insults the other Lords, and expresses anger that she is "treated like a sister to them". She argues with Heisenberg without any hesitation, and seems honest in her hatred of him (per Maggie Robertson's wunderbar performance). (1st Tier/2nd Tier: Canon with a sprinkle of interpretation for the last line)

Alcina openly refers to Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela as her daughters, and wrote in her experiment journal that she felt instantly connected to them (as mother and daughters). (1st Tier: Canon).

Bela Dimitrescu:

Likely born in the 1930's or 1940's, in order to be an adult by 1958 (the first dated appearance of the Dimitrescu daughters). (2nd Tier: Based on inference)

Dialogue shows that all three of the daughters do love their mother, and reinforces the bond Alcina's journal mentions. (1st Tier: Canon)

We are not given any information about how Bela feels about the other Lords, or even what she knows about them. Once can assume that she shares the ideas of her mother, either because Alcina tells her things directly, or because Bela (who is eager to please her mother) picks up on them over time. (2nd Tier: Based on inference)

Donna Beneviento:

No idea when she was born. If you've read one of my recent posts, then you know that it's almost entirely a matter of 2nd and 3rd tier canon.

Of the four lords, Donna seems to have the most story within the 2nd tier, and has very, very little in the 1st tier. Duke says she's somewhat isolated, and that her "playmates" never leave the house. Miranda's notes state that Donna is mentally ill, and the gardener's diary states/implies (bit of both) that Donna has severe social anxiety. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly canon)

Supposedly, her parents committed suicide while she was still a child. This is indicated in concept art/the attached developer's notes. However, the only part that's also directly stated in game is that her parents (specifically her father) died while she was young. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly canon)

While Donna only has one voice line in the game (and it's sad), Angie talks a fair bit. Angie seems to disapprove of the other Lords, or at the very least enjoys mocking them, as well as enjoys watching them fight with each other. As Angie is connected to Donna, and Donna has some level of control over her, one can assume that the two have similar (if not the same) opinions. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly Canon)

Donna was adopted by Mother Miranda as an adult. It's unclear exactly how old Donna was, or what exactly Miranda did as her "mother", just that Donna was excited about it. (1st Tier: Canon)

Other Relevant Information:

Heisenberg refers to the other Lords as his siblings a minimum of 1 time. Similarly to Alcina, however, he openly insults them and seems to hate them. He just, you know, hates Mother Miranda the most. (1st Tier: Canon)

Mother Miranda does not actually give a shit about the four Lords, intended for them to die before the ceremony, and has been manipulating them for her own gain this entire time. Her notes and dialogue make it clear that she only cares about getting Eva back. Somehow mother of the year and worst mother ever. At the same time. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly Canon)

It's unclear who treats Alcina "like a sister" to the other Lords. Were there cut lines of dialogue that cemented the idea of them being a "family"? Did Miranda call them a "family" as part of pretending she cared about them? I've done my best to dig around, but there's very little in game that treats them as a family of any sort.

As each Lord ruled their own section of the region, they don't have any mentions of interacting with each other outside of meetings with Mother Miranda. None of the notes for any Lord (and their relevant experiments) mention what the others are doing. In game, their environments are very separate, very well divided, though this is likely as much for gameplay as it is for story.

Conclusion:

I do not not believe there is enough in game evidence to suggest that Alcina and Donna consider themselves to be siblings. There's the possibility for a large age gap, Alcina was a fair bit older than Donna when she met Miranda, Donna is a social recluse whose closest bonds were with dead blood relatives and dolls, Alcina openly dislikes (if not hates) the other Lords, they seemingly lived very separate and distanced lives, and Mother Miranda does not enforce the idea of "family". Furthermore, the sheer contrast between how Alcina interacts with/speaks of the other Lords compared to how she interacts with/speaks of her daughters says a lot about her feelings. Even if Heisenberg takes the brunt of her anger, Alcina never once says anything remotely positive about anyone other than Miranda and her daughters.

As Alcina/Bela and Donna are not blood-relatives, the definition of what would count as "incest" does vary depending on who you ask. Personally, I do count non-blood relations as potentially incestuous. For example: Alcina "dating" one of her daughters would be incest, regardless of the fact that she's a mutated human and her daughters are weird swarms of flies.

Now, I do understand how popular the idea of the four Lords being a real, chaotic but still close family is. And as I mentioned above, it's totally valid to not like the Bela///Donna ship, whether it's because you think they're family or some other reason. I don't personally see them that way, even in my definitely-not-canon stories.

Do I personally ship Bela///Donna? Nope. Have I liked art for the ship? Admittedly yes, even if I thought some of it was, like, maiden x Bela because Donna didn't have her veil and I'm a DUMBASS who doesn't always remember to read tags. Would I ever write for it? Yeah, probably, assuming I didn't miss anything in game/that I don't eventually change my mind.

biography.

a middle child belonging to christopher and imogen carmichael - two stanford professors. christopher specialized in british literature whilst imogen specialized in the classics. hence the name.

the order of siblings goes as such: lysander, elektra, juno, philomena, and twins orion & valora. the deal was that everybody had a greek (or in juno’s case, roman) first name and a middle name inspired by a piece of british literature circa 1800s and under. a family of nerds, if you will.

so, clearly - right off the bat, their parents are … eccentric. they’re both in love with their respected topic, and with each other, and with their kids. the carmichael family is a happy family.

they each have their own quirks and whatnot - though philly���s always been particularly dreamy - even as a child, she’d spend hours watching clouds or caterpillars or the leaves blow in the wind rather than play with other kids. she wasn’t a shy kid - she just had her own interests.

hardship doesn’t hit the family until philomena is five and starts having splitting headaches. they’re slow at first - but as soon as she’s seeing spots and unable to walk in a straight line, doctor appointments are made.

they’re opposites - elektra’s boisterous and feels loudly, philomena’s softer and feels…less. when elektra sneaks out, philomena keeps watch. they are a duo.

philomena is smart - but she’s fifteen and hates school. hates sitting inside all day. hates the same routine - day after day - it’s all the same. her parents’ routine is the same, philly feels contained and she wants to live.

elektra’s twenty-one and just bought a brand new spanking (used but not falling apart) 19-something volkswagen … van - using her entire savings account. she says she’s tired of routine, she’s leaving the next day.

naturally, philomena stows away in the back and isn’t discovered until they’re two states away and she’s got to pee. elektra nearly crashes the van in shock.

it’s an argument - philomena vs. elektra, then them vs. their parents, then their parents vs. the school, the state - it’s an ordeal. philomena switches to an online program in the end.

it hurts christopher and imogen - lysander’s not having any of their nonsense, juno’s betrayed and alone - the twins are twins. in the end, it’s alright. the carmichael family is a happy family.

philomena and elektra take their time - it’s not a road trip, it’s their new life, permanently on the road. they stop and explore often - they do odd jobs in whatever town they settle in. they dine-n-dash, they shoplift. they survive in their own way.

during particularly desperate times, they two resorted to identity theft & credit fraud - getting away with it only by ditching the cards once they’ve made it out of state.

she drops out of high school officially when she’s seventeen - they have to drive all the way back to california to deal with the wrath of their parents and to deal with paperwork, but it’s done. philomena doesn’t know what path she wants in life - but it’s not that.

philomena and elektra leave the city after that therapy session. they do not return. she’s always been good at hiding her secrets.

after ending up with warrants from their arrest in florida (after running from the law in texas), philly and elektra have wound up at irving <3 partially hiding from the law and partially bcos their trusty van’s broken down and they haven’t got the money to fix her up yet. 

personality & facts.

she’s quiet but she’s confident - her voice sounds like rustling leaves, if leaves smoked a pack of cigarettes a day.

often underestimated - philly’s petite and looks like she’d fall over if a plastic bag blew too close to her. she’s independent - for the most part. elektra is the only person philly takes orders from.

has always been considered odd - weird, strange. still talks about the trees as if they’re listening, as if they’re old friends. she’s vague and doesn’t elaborate on the things she says.

believes in pretty much any superstition you throw her way. luck is very important to her. if you ask her if the earth is flat, she’ll say probably. believes strongly in bigfoot and the lochness monster. has personally seen aliens, and loves ghosts almost more than herself.

she can be amusing - whether you ‘get’ her or not, her outlook is often bright - she talks about the negatives the same way she talks about the positives. can be seen as naive or gullible, but she’s plenty smart. even if half of her education has come directly from google.

philly doesn’t laugh. a smile, yes - often, in fact - not always reaching her ears, or bearing teeth - but these are not indicators of her happiness. philly is consistently content. she thinks many things are funny - she still will not laugh.

her voice is often monotonous - she doesn’t sound dreary, she sounds far-away. her voice carries. her emotions are often unknown to others.

is apathetic in most situations. she’s hard to bother - she’s incredibly patient and enjoys the company of most - tolerates them at the very least. it’s hard for her to express her emotions, because she feels them so little that it’s very nearly not worth it. her affection is not verbal - it’s small touches and gestures of kindness, love in her own way.

will either patch-up the clothes that get too worn or reuse them in some way. sometimes donates the clothes she gets tired off - isn’t minimalistic, but she’s learned to keep only a small amount of possessions.

the only consistency is her lucky ribbon - it’s pastel yellow and silky and as thin as a shoelace. she ties it onto her outfit of the day, everyday. if she loses it, she’s lost. elektra has a matching ribbon.

has no problem with minor theft - she only takes bare minimum, puts herself and elektra first and that’s how it’s always been.

I’m not a big fan of Endgame, or most of Infinity War, so if you want to go ‘to hell with this, everyone lives’ then I am more than okay with that. If you want Thanos to have been killed shortly after GOTG2 because Nebula tracked him down and stabbed him in the dick until he died from it then I’m also okay with that.

Carol/Maria - I’d love something pre-canon with these two. Their backstory is so interesting, especially when you factor in they were co-parenting and dating under DADT. I’d also love lots of interactions with Monica&Carol and Mar Vell and Carol. if you want to go for a casefic then, since I do love Natasha, Carol vs a Red Room Loyal Black Widow?

Carol/Valkyrie - Anything post-Ragnarok with the Asgardians (all of them, even the dead ones. Canon is dead and we killed it) on Earth, Would love: a lot of Carol interacting with the Revengers and Valkyrie interacting with literally any female characters because the MCU is bad at that.

Sarah/May - So much potential with these two. Blended families! Second loves! Dating while older and with kids!  I know Sambucky is a logical sistership to this pairing but I’m not a fan of that ship.

Dragon Age

Cassandra/Literally Any Of The Female Protagonists - Big fan of ‘Cass should’ve been bi’ so I’d like something exploring this. I’d like something set during DAI (so after the death of her boyfriend) with Cass coming to realisations about her sexuality. However you want to write the Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor is fine but my preference is for Surana, Sarcastic/Aggressive mage!Hawke and mage Adaar. I don’t like Anders so if you ever want to throw in some Anders hate then I’m fine with that.

Josie/Bela - I’d love something post-DAI with Josie taking Bela home to meet her family, or Josie as a member of Bela’s pirate crew (and putting her diplomatic skills to good use)

Marquis of Serault/Well Read Pig Farmer - I just want anything involving my favourite former Tevinter magister.

Fire Emblem

Three Houses - my preference is for the Crimson Flower route, but if you want to go the angst route of Byleth and El are fighting against each other then Golden Deer is my favourite path. I also love AUs where the three Lords (or four, counting Yuri) team up with each other to fight against TWSITD. Other than that I have no preferences for what you want to do with any of the ships.

Blazing Blade - I’d love to see post FE7, pre-FE6 stuff, with Lyn and Florina being involved in their friends’ lives. Lyn teaching Roy swordfighting, Florina teaching Lilina how to ride a Pegasus. Plus, lots of interacting with Farina and Ninian (especially if you want to build on the Ninian and Florina friendship). Or if you want to do what they were up to during FE6 I’d love that too.

Awakening - No preferences here.

Resident Evil

Rebecca/Claire - AU where Rebecca is still in Racoon City and teams up with Claire and Sherry? Vendetta AU where Claire is there too? Chris and Jill are getting married and neither Claire or Becca have dates and go together? I don’t really mind. For RE2 canon I prefer the 1998 storyline (Claire A/Leon B) but if you only know the remake then that’s fine, or if you want to mix canons that’s also fine. For past relationships I love the angst Burnfield gives Claire but Billy and Rebecca I see as completely platonic.

Jill/Ada - Normally I’m a strictly Valenfield and Aeon kind of woman but I have a weakness for this ship. Jill is heavily associated with the colour blue, has blonde or brown hair depending on the game and is completely on the side of justice. What I’m saying is: she’s Ada’s type. I love the idea of Ada being at the police station early and running into Jill while she’s there in RE3. I’m also a fan of Ada trying to save Jill in RE5 when she realises it’s her actions in Spain that led to Jill’s brainwashing.

Ace Attorney

I don’t have any preference just as long as there’s no Franmaya, which is my NOTP or the Bad Cykesquill (Simon/Athena. Not only is the age difference too high, but they have a sibling relationship and Simon is clearly gay). I tend to headcanon Klaiver and Ema used to date but Mia and Godot never did. Background Wrightworth is always a plus.

FMA Manga//Brotherhood

Oliver/Maria - Honestly it’s not hard to see what I like when it comes to this ship because the AO3 tag is 99% written by me. Put Olivier in suspenders and holding a sword and I’m a happy woman.

Rose/Paninya - a woman whose town was destroyed in riots and a woman who has found a love of doing repair work? And they’re both friends with Winry who is more than happy to play matchmaker? The pairing writes itself. I know that the 03 anime gave Rose a dead boyfriend, but the manga never specifies. They’re lesbians, Harold.

Dishonored

Emily/Alexi - Wyman? I don’t know her! I love AUs where Alexi lives and is on the Dreadful Wale during the events of the game. Also a big fan of Jess Lives AUs if you want to have Emily attempting to court her childhood best friend/bodyguard while her amazingly embarrassing parents cheer her on. And I love the AUs where both Corvo and Emily are the co-protagonists (especially marked!Corvo, flesh and steel!Emily). I ignore the canonical age difference between Corvo and Jess and put them both as being in their late teens when they met. Basically anything where Alexi is still alive and not going to die is a good fic. If you want to include Wyman at all my preference is for female Wyman since I see Emily as a lesbian. Either she and Emily are exes on good terms or have always been just friends.

poor guy/rich girl has always been a popular romantic sub-genre. that’s why I think Derry/Jeriana is endgame.

both of them are important people surrounding [in] Anne’s life.

Jerry is sort of like a brother to Anne, so it would be like dating your bestie’s bro.

Diana has grown into her own person since s1

she was quite indecisive when it came to the other girls vs. Anne in the early eps of s1 

she’s matured so much as we can see from her mild tantrum and piano slamming scene; I love how she stood up to her parents. Okay it wasn’t exactly considered as standing up, but the piano part got that point out; if she was to live in this day & age, the equivalent would be locking the doors to your room and blasting your boombox.

also she started to see a different types of love that she didn’t knew existed before thanks to her aunt jo.

some people think Diana is a lesbian, maybe that’s true. But I don’t think Moira would build up the Derry/Jeriana storyline unless there was a point to it. Also I think Moira wants to stay somewhat true to the original story. Diana married some dull guy named Fred; however he may be replaced by Jerry in this franchise.

Jerry has officially become a regular character, it means that there’s a high chance he will be in every episode. The name of the actor that portrays Jerry, Aymeric Jett Montaz, appears this season along with Gilbert’s (Lucas Jade Zumann) & Diana's (Dalila Bela) actors in the opening credits.

Jerry has had a harder life than Diana, he’s got at least 4 or 5 siblings, and he’s the eldest in the family, so becoming friends/lovers with him would show Diana another world she was possibly oblivious too. 

reading Charles Dickens doesn’t mean you know the actual harsh realities; she can have better understanding of the social classes more.

Diana would spend more time at the farm flirting with him, and less time alone at home since all of her friends stay later at school now.

That scene from the promo of the two cuties walking together, might be because of the whole Queen’s College study group. Diana hasn’t got Anne around after class, who she usually walks home with. That’s where Jerry comes in.

Jerry’s family are going to be introduced this season. 

Diana and Anne said they have less than 183ish days left together until Diana is sent to finishing school in Paris and Anne heads of to Queen’s College. So they may speed up the courting process. Jerry does not care about Diana’s social class, that’s for sure.

When her parents find out, it’s gonna get ugly. 

Her annoying mother has this irritating tactic she always uses on Diana. She always threatens to cancel or ruin something Diana cares about. Her father just sits there and reads his stupid newspaper, and only says something when Diana makes her mom yell.

Moody might be involved in love triangle. Poor ol’ Moody. That boy can’t catch a break. He might spot the two and be apart of their falling out. That’s just my theory. They’re using Charlie for Shirbert’s falling out. Both Moody and Charlie are also being introduced as regular classmates, so this could mean they are the love interest rival(s) of Gilbert and Jerry.

the infamous hand scene we all witnessed in the promo. I am 80% confident that it’s Jerry and Diana. 

Shirbert fans were thinking it was Gil and Anne, but from the moment I saw it, I immediately assumed it was Derry. IF I’M WRONG, I’ll apologize lol.

Now, about the amazing and talented actors that portray are amazing ship:

AJ & Dalila have so much chemistry for being in their teens and 3 years apart in age. AJ is turning 15 this year, and Dalila is turning 18. So I don’t think we will see an actual kiss anytime soon, maybe one on the cheek. 

Then again they are actors, so they should be aware of they agreed to at the start of filming each season.

They are good friends in real life and were both born in Montreal, so they speak French in real life too.

Ok so this may be a little long, as i want to explain a little about what holidays are celebrated. Its not important, i just want to. No one can stop me. So one (not super important) thing we need to establish about our favorite flamy flapper bitch: her palace is to her friend group as your (Jess) house is to ours. Valhelligreð palace is the epicenter of stupidity for them.

I also want to state that 18th century Lamaria does not have Christmas, as such a religion was just recently coming to their continent. Drussland has not yet gone about converting Lamaria from paganism (or this universe's equivalent of it)✌🏾 During the second book, Lamaria is kinda beginning to convert, but I'm thinking about book one Arabela so what is being celebrated is Aneføt. Its basically Yule and goes on for about 10 days. I realized, as I was typing this, that this was getting a bit long so I cut a lot lol. If you wanna know more about Lamarian mythology, let me know. I love infodumping! Also, Astristan’s Christmas is really just a winter festival. Their religion is based a lot on nature and the stars, so the changing season is very important to them. Lamaria’s celebrations go harder though ngl. Astristan’s festival is usually done before Aneføt starts.

Now! On to the dumbassery!!!!

14. Who they spend the holidays with

So Aneføt celebrations are usually specific to the different parts of Lamaria. Arabela doesn't have a ton of family in Valhelligreð - its really just her, Luella, and Arabesque. So usually Namur, Tor, Foraoisa, and Ophelia end up with her. They sometimes bring other people in their families too, which is totally welcomed by Arabela. Sometimes her brothers stay with her too (but rarely. Not cuz of family drama - one brother's a sailor and is rarely in Lamaria, the other comes like every two years).

15. All of their Christmas traditions (not just their favorite XD)

OH BOY ok here we go. Aneføt has a lot of parts to it, espcially since it's area specific. But here's what goes on in the Vawdrey household. Days before people get there, Luella usually goes ham and decorates. Arabela could not stop it, even if she wanted to. So when everyone gets there, they usually end up sharing about their own celebrations (Ophelia and Luella celebrate Christmas pretty much) just cuz that's fun. Arabesque (for those who do not know, this is Arabela’s son) usually performs in the Aneføt celebration concert, so they do that. Oh, and gift giving!!! The gang has a gift exchange because I am TRASH for that! Bela definitely gets her staff gifts too (I think she's also really good at gift giving lol). There is also an inaugural hunt on the first day that someone usually participates in (Ophelia is a surprisingly fantastic hunter and we love to see it). The opera house usually has a fundraising ball that just about everyone goes to (Namur tries not to, but never succeeds)...and ends up getting completely sloshed at. Arabela definitely has to make the occasional speech, which she kinda hates but yeehaw. Unfortunate thing that just about always happens - somebody forgets ice exists and ends up getting injured. Last year it was Foraoisa and it happened like two days before she needed to leave for Astristan lol. Those who can bake do so and drop off the pastries at the local orphanage because why not (those who hold the capacity to bake are literally just Ophelia, Luella, and Arabesque). Luella and Arabela definitely always make time for a romantic outing of some kind. And of course, there's a huge feast that they have. Ok and my personal favorite is totally conditional on if all three Vawdrey siblings are in the same space. With out fail, the last three times on the 7th night of Aneføt, one of them gets insanely drunk and ends up fistfighting someone on the palace stairs (last time it was Ambrose vs. The Duke of Valhelligreð). 'Tis the season, am I right lads

That's about it! I thoroughly enjoy writing these little tidbits about these people. I think they always had a lot of fun celebrating together and that makes me happy :)

(Also i know i tag her as an edwardian beefcake, but I literally just said the story takes place in the 18th century. I'm just obsessed with the early edwardian silhouette so the style I usually draw her in is that. She looks amazing in it too. Don't @ me.)

2 - What are your top three favourite characters?

ohlala.... it's not a real order, like Dean is first but after that I can't make a top

Dean - idk why he's just so 😭 I think it's bc I project a lot, and I'm fascinated by how kind he is. Spn would have been sooo much better if the main pov was Dean's instead of Sam's. His story is way more interesting to me. He's just a guy, he's really just some guy with a lot of family issues. He's not part of the lucky ones, he got no money, he's queer af, he had no childhood. But he's still SO kind and he thinks everyone should get their happy end & no one should go through what he's going through. If he gotta take one from the team he'd take it. I wish he could care for himself as much as he cares for humanity. I wish he'd got to learn to care for supernatural creatures bc that's just the logical development but once again, spn is Sam's pov so Dean gets no rights.

Crowley - he's one of the best character EVER. everytime I see Crowley disrespect, in show or in the fandom, I love him even more. He deserved the world. He deserved a non-homophobic portrayal. I keep going off about Crowley so let's settle on one thing hm.... it's a very sad part of his story, but it gets to me: Crowley is so lonely and he just wants to be loved. But he has no friends, was already lonely in life, is as much alone in death - he's an outcast even for demons, even if he fits better here. He's Crowley and he's powerful and frightening, but he's Crowley - there're rumours around him, people call him nicknames behind his back, he gets made fun of (homophobically & transphobically). He has to be ambitious and threatening ; but he doesn't want to. He's just good at it (he's honestly so smart and honest???). And that's the only way he can be - if not loved, if not known - at least seen.

Amara - ok it's only bc I'm insane and I have this Good Version of Amara in my head........ I think she could have been SO MUCH. But if I gotta pick one reason I just love how she's just vibing. She's literally just chilling and enjoying Earth and finding joys in every little things. She knows about the big picture & she hates it, she hates the blueprint and the Rules and Chuck's big plan. But she loves the tiny things so much? She wants to explore and discover and feel everything. Because that's not what's wrong - humans, flowers, food - it's not them, by essence, the issue. It's the system they're trapped in.

Bela Talbot - yeh it's four but..... I can't pick. she's SO interesting. when Dean goes "so you know about what's out there and this is what you do with it? you become a thief?" it's soooo interesting. I wish we'd got more of her and her VS Dean bc the way they're so similar yet taking such different decisions....... I don't even dislike that she ended up going to Hell, bc her making a deal is actually part of her character now. I'm mostly pissed bc she never came back. There's NO WAY she wouldn't find a way to get out of Hell, like even as a demon. She's so strategic I'm still amazed at how she got Dean & Sam arrested. QUEEN.

7 - What is/are your BROTP(s)?

i think......... like in terms of actual sibling dynamic. I love Claire & Alex. I'm pretty sure the trio with Patience would be epic, but we didn't get to see more of them. I overall feel like spn can't write siblings properly (ironic I know) but they got Claire & Alex!!! ig it helps that they don't have a lot of scenes but 🤷‍♂️ it's about the love/hate between teenagers. it's about locking your sib inside the toilets but also beating down a guy who trash talked them. it's about the intimacy of sharing a house and making it a home <3

36 - If you could be a supernatural creature, what would it be?

I pretty sure I'd end up being a ghost bc as a taurus I'm a petty bitch. I WILL stay to haunt people. that's my toxic trait 😔 however that doesn't seem the most appealing it's just very sad :'(

59 - If you could have a spinoff about any characters other than the leads of Supernatural and Wayward Sisters, who would they be?

I've actually mentioned it a few times in passing and like. while rn I wanna say a Crowley spinoff bc he deserves the world!!!! what I actually want and think about is:

a spinoff about the evil-ish sapphics: Bela, Rowena, Ruby, and Meg :) Supporting characters includes Mary, Amara, Anael, and Belphegor. IDK what they'd be doing except girlboss shit and drinking wine and gossiping and whatever they want and supporting each others 💕
